Amy - thanks!

I tried to call after LM went down (around 8:15) and the lady said that the switchboard closed at 8:00. I will probably call her at lunch.

Her mom said you called and it meant the world to her.

:)

That's good news about Tee. She's been suffering with that stone for some time.

Amy, if you talk to her tell her I'm thinking of her!

KaytieJ said...

Lindsay - Yay! We got a third :-D

Amy - Thank you for the update on Tee!

Shannon said...

Morning ladies.

Jeanette you nearly made me choke on coffee with your little description of me :)

Amy thanks for the update on Tee...I am glad they are going after the kidney stones yuck!!!

Now everyone take a deep breath and lets try to have a better day :) LOL

Ate my comment.

I said good morning. And I said I've got absolutely *nothing to say today. My head, she is tired. :-D

Morning RiM!

Morning RiM

Yesterday was mostly a good day LOL

I just posted a new picture of my daughter on my blog. I think this is by far the best picture I have of her. She is 9 and she is beautiful no matter what problems she may have. Just a proud mom brag!

Having some of the yogurt I made in the crockpot mixed with honey and almonds. Yum!

Kristin, you asked for the recipe. It's pretty easy.

1/2 gallon milk (I used 2%)

Put in the crockpot on low for 2.5 hours. Unplug and let sit for 3 hours. Take out 2 cups of the milk and stir into that 1/2 cup plain yogurt with live cultures (I used a greek yogurt) and then stir all that back into the crockpot. Wrap in two large blankets and let sit 8 to 12 hours. (The longer it sits the more tart it gets.) Let refrigerate at least 8 hours for the best texture. You can also drain it in a colander lined with coffee filters to make it more thick.

I also just read a recipe where when they stirred in the yogurt they also stirred in one packet of fat free, sugar free vanilla pudding mix, and I think I will try that.

kristin said...

cool RiM - thanks!

Robin in Montana said...

Sandy -- she's beautiful. :*)

You're welcome, Kristin. You can also buy pro-biotics at the health food store and stir that in.
Mulie - did you talk about this and I just didn't see it? How did the email to your husband go over?

kristin said...

She is beautiful Sandy!

Morning, all! I'm late coming in and catching up...so sorry so many are sick and injured today. Don't anyone breathe on me or touch me.

Kaytie, the tear duct thing was from Israel's newest blog post. You can find it on the MckSite, it's the MckDaddy one. She's writing those for him, I'm sure of it.

Amy, thanks for the update on Tee!

Kristin, I love what you posted...am going to send it to my own mom. :-)

KaytieJ said...

Sandy - Darling girl and I like your blog layout!

Mornin' Rim - Of course you have nothing to say after your worship fest last night ;-D And TY for the yogurt recipe.

AP - If I go to that site, does it automatically give them money or do I have to click on something special? Someone was saying about clicking and money.

Lisa said...

"AP - If I go to that site, does it automatically give them money or do I have to click on something special? Someone was saying about clicking and money."

It'll give them some money but it's worth it to read him. :-D

This site is of the current work they are doing in Kenya. Just the kind of country to visit while pregnant and leaving 4 small kids at home. Oh, I forgot, they are on a "Mission from God" Well...I guess it worked for the Blue's Brothers.

Robin in Montana said...

Kristin - I could mention I have a horrible kink in my neck. I don't think it's from worship, though. lol.

Hey, I want to make that beer can/chicken butt recipe tonight, but all I keep seeing are times and methods for cooking it on the grill, and I want to do it in the oven. Anyone know time/heat for that?

Jeanette said...

I'm back girls. I had the opportunity to return to bed, so I did. And... it was great!

Shannon, I'm sorry I made you choke! I still love you despite your trashy faults, so I would never want to hurt you!! <3

Anonymous said...

RIM, I've done beer can chicken in the oven at 350. I don't know for how long though. It was just as good as the grill.

Robin in Montana said...

Sandy - thanks. I'm thinking just as long as I'd normally roast a chicken. I'm going to make a rub and do it that way. Kelly will squawk over me taking two of his beers, but he'll survive.

Robin in Montana said...

I found a recipe that says 375 for 1.5 hours.

Anonymous said...

I just kind of timed it like a normal roast chicken too. I don't really time stuff, I just wing it.

Hi Daisies! How the hell is everyone today?
Seems like I missed much! I can not get this site to load on my home computer for some reason. hmm.
AP how was your roast last night? Sounded good made me want roast.
Morning Kristin, you and that dunce cap!lol.
Hi Linds!
RiM, the yogurt recipe sounds good.

kristin said...

Hey Suz! Yup, I wear it well :)

lee said...

Kristin & Lindsay thanks so much and hugs to both of you for your comments over at MWOP. My family is my life. Maybe some don't feel it should be that way but that is why my husband and I had children; we wanted to be a family to experience life together through the good and bad times.

I guess I was wrong for asking SG if you plan on giving someone a free trip to Kenya representing Kenya then maybe the person should understand the meaning of compassion. I just think that is kind of common sense. Certainly didn't do it to be mean, was just wondering how that works.

It just makes me sick that Mck can go and leave those precious children like she does. How does Stellan even know who is mom is? It's hard to get a good mom and son bond when there are extended amount of hospital stays and then when he isn't in the hospital she leaves him for days at a time. As far as Stellan is concerned his mom could be another "really good friend".

Thanks again ladies for you love and support. It helps give me that little boost that I need every once in awhile. It makes me so sick when Mck's followers say that she has had it so rough and she deserves all these good things happening to her. WoW! Those people who say that to her must not know what real struggle in life is. They must be spoiled just like her!

Lindsay said...

Hey Suz! How are *you this morning? I'm panicking about my FIL coming into town for 2 weeks, so a little nip of the Don Julio might be in order. I know it's only 10:00 and all, but . . .

Lindsay said...

Hi lee :) And no problem. Lately I'm being "bold" (hee hee) and calling things like I see them. And I see you as a great & loving mom. And you should know that. And ridiculous TSG (don't forget the "The") should know he's messing with a bunch of moms who value kids and have kids because we love them and want them. Not as a race to see how many we can have in a short period of time.

Robin in Montana said...

Hi Suz! Hi Lee!

Lindsay - you know what they about it's noon somewhere. That is what they say; right?

Shannon said...

Lee I have never had anything but the highest respect for you. With people like you and and Dawn and others who have children who really do need the constant 24 hour care JM has no clue at all. She couldnt handle your shoes and I am grateful that she doesnt truly have a child with special needs because she would most likely fail.

kristin said...

No worries Lee! You are an awesome mother and it shows.

I responded to your e-mail too about Scooter Brown.

I also have a new post up that was kinda inspired by the whole JM thing.

I have no idea how she does it and like I said over at MWoP, these are the bonding years, when you form that strong maternal bond with your kids. You mentioned them not knowing who their mom is, so true - and does she really "know" who her kids are. I mean she knows Stellan but I think she knows the hospital Stellan and not this new non-sick Stellan - she needs to nurture him and let him feed his curiousity and get to know his home life. But whatever - she has to live with the repurcussions of dropping her kids wherever when the feeling strikes her to jet off.

Shannon said...

Hi suz good to see ya!!!

suz said...

Hi Linds, doing well today! I will fill up the flask of Don Julio for you and you can take a nip as needed!lol.
Kristin, I can see you sitting in the corner with your hat on sticking out your tongue!

Lisa said...

Kristin, are you Krista, too. ;-)

Suz, hi! the roast was good, thanks...sounds like one is in your dinner future, too.

Lee, I always love seeing you around here. I'm going to hang out some on MWoP but honestly, I'm over trying to understand why people can support any woman who does the things she does. I just don't understand, for example, how anyone thinks it's fine to put your unborn baby in any kind of jeopardy if you don't have to. I don't understand supporting a woman who puts things out there publicly that she can never retract but that will undoubtedly cause her children pain as they grow older and read it, understand it. And I cannot, for the very life of me, get why they're any sort of role model as a marriage. They are fiscally, ethically, parentally (possible new word) and Christianally (definite new word) poor examples of people and I will just never understand how a reasonable, intelligent person can't see that.

lee said...

Thanks ladies, your words honestly make me cry because I'm not my sons mom because I want others attention or praise I am because he rocks my world with no actions or words. My two boys are my life!

I did state licensed homedaycare for over 18 years and Mom's would get upset when their little ones accidentally called me "mom". I think of that when I hear Mck talk about leaving her children. At those kids age, they relate the word "mom" to the person that is most involved in their lives.

The bragging about being a mom to five kids gets me too. Because I want to hear how they are handling the financial responsibility of five kids ten years and twenty years from now. Expenses get bigger as they get bigger that's for sure and neither mom and dad have a dependable job, I'm almost scared of what is going to happen because if they couldn't manage with fewer children and fewer expenses how are they going to continue. I guess lying and cheating will keep putting money in their pockets.

Lindsay said...

RiM - Exactly! It's gotta be past 5:00 where Corinne is. So we'll pretend I'm in Belgium. Yeah, that's it!

Suz - I knew I could count on you.

kristin said...

Sorry AP but I am not! I am Kristin! and I post as me - I'm not sure I could figure out how to change to another name and all that shit.

kristin said...

*Christianally - I LIKE IT!

Lisa said...

Kristin, I was just teasing you. :-)

lee said...

AP, thanks, I just feel like I can't keep up with everyones lives over here. Too fast for me. I'm just a stupid little old lady who stays at home and cares for her family enjoying a simple, happy life.

I do appreciate the support you ladies always give me. One of these days maybe I can read and keep up and be a part of a real conversation.

kristin said...

I know AP but others might start to *think I might be - plant a seed ya know - not that I care. Just lettin' everyone know it wasn't me!

Lindsay said...

I wanted to create a fake account to post on MWoP - I know, I know. That would be cheating and not owning my words, but I was kind of afraid of some of those "Christianally" challenged people. Anyway - it was waaay to much work for me. So I guess I'll be who I am.

Lisa said...

Aww, Lee, it's hard to keep up without all you have to keep you busy and don't even worry about it. Just pop in and out as you like and we'll always be glad for it. :-)

kristin said...

I second what AP said!

so many do just that! You don't have to be up to speed with everyone!

You are welcome any time!

Lisa said...

I just want to know how you people expect me to be able to farm with everything else going on.

kristin said...

right AP - I had to plow mine yesterday and not plant anything b/c I had too much going on.

Lisa said...

I tore mine apart to redecorate over a week ago and there it all still sits, torn apart.

Robin in Montana said...

I never played Farmville, but I had to give up Farm Town and my Mafia Wars because I wasn't getting *anything done elsewhere.

kristin said...

I'm going to rant again -

I don't understand why the IT guy (who is NEVER here) finds it necessary to put up security cameras EVERYWHERE and then hire someone to come install them during the day - it is QUITE inconvenient - and for them to be here more than one day b/c you can't get your ass up here to give them direction - or give the office a heads up!

UGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Okay, rant over!

Jeanette said...

I'll be honest and say that unless I plan on sticking around to chat, I don't even try and catch up. And even then, I only catch up with the current thread and maybe skim the previous one to get an idea about what's going on. I have 2 littles and if I spent all my time trying to catch up, I wouldn't have time to chat.

I got way too sucked in on OHIH and felt that I needed to read every single post. I spent too much time online and let too many other things go. I'm not letting that happen again. So don't feel bad Lee, or anyone else. We just don't all always have time to read everything;)

AP, I used to farm. I was super addicted and would leave the homes of friends in a hurry so I could go harvest before the rot. Guess what broke my farm addiction? OHIH.

I'm currently sucked in to Bejeweled.

Again.

Robin in Montana said...

I got sucked into Farkle for a bit, but Mafia Wars was probably the absolute worst addiction for me there.

Jeanette said...

O
M
G

I forgot about Farkle. I used to play it in real life before Facebook was even the gleam in someone's eye. So when it hit Facebook, I was hooked on it too. But not many of my friends played so I eventually got bored with it. I like to compete.

Lindsay said...

I've been debating getting a facebook account. I don't have one. I use hubby's to spy on people :) Then I leave comments all over the place under his name that are like "Yay you!" or something equally girly. That's fun.

But, alas, I don't know if I should spend any more time online :/

Jeanette said...

Oh, meant to say... I've never played Mafia Wars. I did see a great status the other day though.

"I'm secretly growing weed in Farm-ville, so that i can make profit from mafia wars. then sell on the streets of Yo-ville. then ima bake brownies in cafe world♥ Eventually, I'll make enough to expand my farm and take over the ville."

Robin in Montana said...

Jeannette - I like to compete, too. When I have time (or when I waste time, let's be honest) I love to play cribbage on the AOL game place against other people. I didn't like that about Farkle on Facebook, either, that it wasn't real competition. I taught my kids to play farkle, so we'll play that here sometimes. They prefer speed, at which they can kick my ass.

Lindsay - it definitely will suck your time. I grew up in a *really small school (we were the "big" class with 12 kids) so I've really liked reconnecting with a lot of those people.

Jeanette said...

You should Lindsay! I'll be your friend for sure! And I just posted to you on Fellowship, btw.

Jeanette said...

I'm not familiar with Speed RiM. Farkle is great though. It's fun to drink to as well.

kristin said...

Lindsay - I'll be your friend too!

Hey Jeanette - maybe you will answer my question since no one else will (said sarcastically) - do you know where Kathleen disappeared to or what happened to her?

KaytieJ said...

"Oh, I forgot, they are on a "Mission from God" Well...I guess it worked for the Blue's Brothers."

That was bad. ;-)

Yes it is. Money is what that trip and the blog are about. Not Christianity. I am glad that it has brought more sponsorship of children, though.

suz said...

Linds, I like face book. Hubs has it too. I only ever played the scrabble game on it. Never got into the other games so I don't have to do a 12 step program to quit Mafia wars.lol
Now I have the iphone and check everyone's status all the time, there is a time waster for you! You could check you fb status with your crackberry to I think.

Robin in Montana said...

Speed is a card game -- my kids are card hookers. It's very easy, just playing cards up or down by number on common piles and whoever gets rid of their cards first wins. It's not a good game to drink to, unless *everyone is drinking. Or at least that's what I've heard.

Jeanette said...

Kristin, I honestly have no idea. There was a span of about 2 weeks when I barely had time to post hello, let alone read blogs or keep tabs. Since I came back, I don't think I have seen her. Shana may know, she's good at that stuff.

KaytieJ said...

Kristin said: I had to plow mine yesterday and not plant anything b/c I had too much going on.

Did the same thing Kristin - but for different reason. Having too much fun here :-D

Jeanette said...

Oh! Yeah I HAVE played that! It was a great game! Damn, I'm gonna have to google it to remember the rules, but it was a fun game back in the day.

Lindsay said...

J - you have mail :)

RiM - I totally might have to sign up. But there's the problem. There are definitely some people from high school that I'd rather hide from :)

Suz - aaah! I forgot about the iphone. How's that working out for you? And addiction, no doubt. I would love my crackberry if I didn't have to reboot it once every week!

Lindsay said...

I saw Kathleen at Fellowship a couple of days ago. She made a funny comment on the guy in the sink with no arm hair.

kristin said...

Thanks Lindsay - I guess I will have to go over to Fellowship and say hello!

suz said...

Lindsay, I have not had any HS friends contact me on FB because I use my married name. I really have no interest connecting with most of them. But the beauty of it is, don't friend them. Simple as that.
I am just getting to know this phone, but I think I am going to like it.

KaytieJ said...

I just called in sick to work. Fever, sore throat, cough. 3 times in a 12 month period and I get written up. This is my 3rd. Lovely. Not a good way to start a 6 night stretch. Not whining. I just think it is a retarded policy. Who wants a sick nurse taking care of them?

Robin in Montana said...

Lindsay - you don't have to accept their friend request. Alternatively, you can friend them and then pu them in their own little "group" where they can't see the rest of what's going on on your Facebook.

Kaytie - that is a retarded policy. YOu'd think it'd be common sense not to have a sick nurse on board.

kristin said...

KaytieJ - that is RETARDED - ummm, yeah, I'm sick in the hospital - the last thing I want is to get more sick.

Angie said...

Nobody does, Kay. So sorry you're sick.

Speaking of 12 step programs, and someone was above, I need a Mcksponsor. I just had an urge to go read. (Damn AP and her damn Israel crush!) Thankfully, I took the site from my "favorites" list so that slowed me down enough to realize I needed to breathe and call my sponsor. But I don't have a sponsor. Who's been on the mckwagon for longer than I have and will you sponsor me? I've got two weeks of sobriety and don't want to lose it!

Jeanette said...

Heh, yall remember when the word retarded was forbidden? I agree that it is a derogatory word, but I don't think I have ever used it for it's true meaning. I don't find it offensive at all if it's used like it just was.

Good times.

kristin said...

Sorry, can't help you there SW! I'll be your sponsor and all but I will probably look and read, etc.

kristin said...

Oh, my bad - I didn't even think of it like that.

If I offended anyone, I am sorry - it is a ridiculous policy.

Lindsay said...

How will my toilets get cleaned!!!! I want self cleaning toilets so I can hang out on the internet :)

kristin said...

Lindsay - do it at midnight, like I did last night :)

KaytieJ said...

Oh man....I lost my PC filter and brain sniffing daisies :-( In NO way did I mean it derogatory towards people. Towards policy, ummm yes. However, I am deeply sorry to offend anyone. Off to take my ridiculous self for a nap.

kristin said...

Kaytie - sorry you aren't feeling well. Enjoy your nap! Will you take one for me too?

And if I don't see you (leaving at 3:00) -have a nice rest of the afternoon.

Anonymous said...

Jeanette, I was just waiting for the word police to show up. I use that word as well as other un-pc words, too.

Jeanette said...

Oh I didn't mean to imply that anyone was being offensive! On OHIH, using that word was a big no no, regardless of how you used it. I was just reminded of that, that's all. Like I said, I don't find it offensive when used to describe an object. Calling someone's kid a little retard? Yeah, that would be bad. Saying that a policy or a standard is retarded? Nothing to get upset over. IMO anyway.

Angie said...

I'm currently putting off work by making my grocery list for a very small dinner party I'm hosting Saturday night. My work spouse has a new girlfriend who he's very excited about, and I haven't met her yet. So I'm cooking dinner for them and one of the supper club guys Saturday night. The menu is:

Roasted Shrimp Cocktail appetizer
Artichoke, Romaine and Cherry Tomato Salad
Baked Ziti with Spinach and Tomatoes
Some kind of garlicky bread
Peanut Butter Pie

Sound good? I've made everything before, so there shouldn't be any surprises. The salad dressing is one I haven't made in almost 10 years, but I recall it as good and different. You blend up artichoke hearts, with balsamic vinegar, chives, lemon juice, dijon mustard, honey, and mayo.

kristin said...

sounds very good SW and makes me really wish I lived nearby.

Angie said...

I wish you did too Kristin. I would love to have you over for dinner!

I don't have a sensitivity to the R word, but I understand the viewpoint of people who do. Lord knows I have my own sensitivities. :-)

suz said...

SW, oh boy does that menu sound good. Roasted shrimp cocktail sounds super yum.

Anonymous said...

Kaytie- I'm sorry you're sick :(

SW- You'll have one more guest...ME! :P

kristin said...

Oh, Jeanette, I know you didn't think it was offensive but you brought up a point (which I failed to recognize) and just wanted to say I was sorry if I indeed offended anyone.

sometimes I just type (or talk) before thinking.

going back to the corner with my dunce cap <:P Just because I like it and think I look snexy - can you look snexy with a dunce cap on?

Lindsay said...

Kristin - only if you're naked :p

Okay, I'm off. Kiddo wants to play nickjr.com BBL.

And I'll be looking for my invite to SW's house for dinner in the mail.

kristin said...

Naked and a dunce cap would not be snexy on me :) unless the cap was big enough to cover the whole body.

See ya girl!

Angie said...

Well, not as snexy as a peter pan collar, Kristin. But I guess you're snexy enough.

Okay, I need to serve a cocktail with the shrimp appetizer. What would go well with that? How about a long island iced tea? Or whiskey sour? Any thoughts?

suz said...

Kirstin, I think you can pull of snexy in a dunce cap!
I had an aunt who was sick as a 5 year old and left her with a mental capacity of a 5 year old. Never ever has the word retarded bothered me. What bothered my is no one looking past the outside package that may have not been pretty, to see the wonderful funny person she really was.

Anonymous said...

SW- Long Island Ice tea, hands-down!!! :D

kristin said...

Good to know!

I've done volunteer work with handicapped children and yes, you have to look deeper than appearances.

Lisa said...

I love the word "retarded", for the record.

Okay, first things first...I'm about to get hit with bad storms, already lost power for a bit. I'm going to put a new post up real quick.

Melissa, be safe out there!

Angie said...

Begin rant.

My secretary makes me crazy. I sent her an e-mail asking her to file X (with the trademark office, not in a file cabinet). She calls me and asks if I want her to file X. I said didn't my e-mail say? She said your e-mail didn't say whether I should file X. So I pull up the e-mail and read it to her where it says, "please file X." And she says "Ohhhhh, I didn't see where it says to file X!"

This happens all the time. She doesn't read my e-mails carefully, then she asks me about something that I've already told her to do. And it drives me bonkers.

End rant.

kristin said...

Stay safe AP!

Angie said...

Suz, I'll post the roasted shrimp cocktail recipe on the recipe thread. It's a Barefoot Contessa recipe. Very simple and good!

Long Island Ice Tea it is, Corinne! Thanks!

kristin said...

YIKES AP - just looked at the radar!

hunker down!
