AP- Stay safe!!

SW- Ugh! Your secretary needs to be sent one of these letters from Harry Potter that can scream at a person :P

suz said...

SW, thanks I would love that recipe.
Hey Corinne!
AP, batten down the hatches..I always wanted to say that.

Robin in Montana said...

repost:
SW -- Sounds delicious! Too heavy to go as bread for dinner, but I do love that PW olive cheese bread recipe and have made it several times to rave reviews.

Anonymous said...

Hi Suz!!

Angie said...

Suz, I posted the recipe.

suz said...

SW, cool..gonna go have a look. thank you SW!

Anonymous said...

OT- House's writers definitely read Mck's blog!

Lisa said...

Thanks for the good storm wishes, all! This bunch looks like it could be exciting!

SW, that menu sounds soooo good. And your secretary is an idiot. I'd just keep repeating "it say on my email."

Kaytie, so sorry you're sick. Is it a cold or the flu?

kristin said...

Yeah, SW - I would say - "did you read my e-mail?" - or "can you please tell me what my e-mail said?"

AP - do your cat's go crazy during storms?

Any new developments in the computer case?

suz said...

Corinne. really? You mean they have character that is an over the top non religious God loving person who is abused but chooses to stay with her abuser who ignores her older children to make money of her sick kid who House can't heal but God does? lol I kid I kid :)

Anonymous said...

Suz- LOL!
Have you seen the latest episode of House? If not, watch it. You'll know what I mean ;) (it's about a famous blogger who's sick)

Angie said...

Lordy, Robin, the olive cheese bread looks to die for!

Robin in Montana said...

y'all heard Merlin Olsen died?

That olive cheese bread is just *stupid good.

suz said...

Corinne, I have not watched it recently, but do love that show! I am going to have to buy the episodes on dvd so I can watch it when I want.

Lisa said...

"AP - do your cat's go crazy during storms?"

Not crazy but very, very nervous. Twitchy nervous. Then they tend to all lump up on the couch together, like there's safety in numbers or something.

"Any new developments in the computer case?"

Yeah, he got it back!

Lindsay said...

So, Grayson lost interest quickly and I checked in on Mckdaddy. Ugh - someone should tell him that less is more. I mostly just skimmed, but I didn't see any mention of his privates - phew. I did get an awesome coupon for $1.50 off OxiClean out of the deal. Not too shabby.

Stay safe Floridians!!

kristin said...

I knew that AP - but did the dad fess up or the friend find out any more info?

Just wondering.

Anonymous said...

Suz- I <3 House. Probably a little too much since I know entire dialogues of some episodes :P

kristin said...

sorry AP - that sounded rude - I didn't mean for it to sound that way.

My bad!

suz said...

Linds, Oh what he he babbling about now??

Wow that bread looks good. damn, all this food talk, makes me hungry!

Lisa said...

Kristin, I read it as you meant it! No, no more word on that. We'll never know, I'm sure.

I'm starving now...thanks, y'all.

Lindsay said...

How the poor people of the Mathare Valley are in spiritual poverty. I guess that means because they aren't Christian. And that they are prone to addiction. Or some such stuff. I really couldn't tell you because my mind wandered to the oxi-clean offer for a coupon, and I clicked on that :) At my house, that's nearly as good as a coupon for tequila!

Lindsay said...

SW - btw, clearly I cannot sponsor you. I am not strong enough. Totally fell of the wagon today.

Angie said...

How many days clean did you have before you fell off, Lindsay? Want me to sponsor you? ;-)

kristin said...

Please and thank you are such good words to use!

Thank you and come again!

My poor sister - I enjoy laughing at her frustrations!

kristin said...

alright ladies - I'm leaving in a few - I need to go drop the car seat off at daycare b/c I forgot to this morning. Then I am going to go home and get all my documents together and attempt to fit into something "professional" - send me good ju-ju b/w the hours of 5:00 - 8:00.

:)

Anonymous said...

I'm proud to say that I haven't read Mck in days (though I read MWoP 'coz they're funny/interesting). I do not intend to read PC's logorrhea.

Angie said...

Good luck, Kristin! I'll be thinking about you! Survivor's on betwee 7:00 and 8:00. That'll bring good ju-ju!

kristin said...

*note to self - make sure Survivor is set to record.

Alright - I'm out!

*see ya!

Anonymous said...

SW, I can be your sponsor. I can't stand to read JM's drivel. I haven't read there in a long time. LOL

Sending good vibes Kristin.

Anonymous said...

Sending good thoughts your way, Kristin!

Robin in Montana said...

Bye, Kristin! Good luck!

suz said...

Kristin, I missed what is going on for you but I send my best positive thoughts your way!

Angie said...

Okay, great Sandy! I had a moment of weakness today, but resisted. If you could get AP to STFU about Israel, that would be very helpful to my sobriety. So much for personal responsibility, huh?

Anonymous said...

AP, SW is on the 12-Step program and would like you to STFU about RV! LOL I will not, on my watch, allow any enabling.

Lisa said...

Good luck, Kristin!

SW, Sandy, I'm sorry about Israel but I just don't know how to quit him.

suz said...

Sandy ROFLMAO!

Anonymous said...

IM lost the little respect and sympathy I had for him when he allowed his wife to post as if she were him.

Angie said...

Three words, Sandy: Best. MckSponsor. Ever.

Anonymous said...

Thank you. I will do my best. I think AP should join the program. It's the only way to let go.

Robin in Montana said...

AP -- That quote was not lost on me. I love that movie, but while the love story part of it gets me every time, I just can't reconcile cowboys and sheep.

In an aside, I found this interesting:

http://www.parentdish.com/2010/03/10/opinion-is-tweeting-our-family-tragedies-the-new-normal/?icid=main|htmlws-main-n|dl5|link3|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.parentdish.com%2F2010%2F03%2F10%2Fopinion-is-tweeting-our-family-tragedies-the-new-normal%2F

Lindsay said...

Good Luck Kristin! Sending positive vibes although I've probably already missed you :)

SW - I only had a work week under my belt. It actually might have only been 4 days. I've been trying so very hard. But my curiosity grows stronger and then I just. can't. fight. it.

Sandy are you capable of handling 2 addicts?

Anonymous said...

The more the merrier Lindsay. I'm trying to get AP on board. RV has a tight hold on her though.

Lindsay said...

RiM - I couldn't agree more with the author. It's one thing to take on sadness for people you are a part of a forum with, people you have become friends with, but after Stellan, I couldn't take much more of that. If you or any daisy or fellowship girl had heartbreak, I would of course feel awful and do what I could to help, but I can't get wrapped up in every online tragedy, you know?

Does that make me mean or am I protecting my core? I don't know.

Angie said...

Robin, wow that piece is very interesting, and I tend to agree. It makes you think.

Lindsay said...

Sandy - Thank you, thank you! I think AP may be a tough sell. And I have a weird sadness for RV, though, I am now taking what Corinne said into consideration. That may change my point of view.

Anonymous said...

RiM- That is very interesting. And so very true!

Alright ladies, I'm off for today!

Have a good day!

Angie said...

Night Corinne!

Lindsay said...

Good night Corinne!! And thanks for following me :)

Anonymous said...

RIM & Lindsay, I ride the fence on this one. I think blogging or tweeting about your child illness is okay if you are trying to make the public aware of a specific disease or illness.

What I don't agree with is the over the top tweeting and blogging up until the very last breath of the child/spouse/friend/whomever. That is something that is private and IMO should remain so.

I do think it would be fair to readers to say that the child/spouse/friend/whomever did pass though.

Does that make sense?

Robin in Montana said...

g'night, Corinne!

I found that article very interesting. Lots to think about, I guess. I like what youy said about protecting your core, Lindsay.

I feel a sense of sadness for RV, too.

Lisa said...

Robin, I loved that movie a lot. As for your article, I completely agree with it and it's one reason I stopped reading sick-kid blogs. I *was becoming immune and beginning to look at it as entertainment and that wasn't right. It's also not right, imno, for parents to put it out there for people to be entertained with. It's sick-kid porn, nothing more, for many.

Lisa said...

I will not abandon Israel.

Lindsay said...

Sandy- I can agree with that. I do think the minute by minute of last breath tweets is kind of sick. That doesn't let someone go with dignity, IMO.

Lindsay said...

AP - You sound Jewish :) Maybe you need to start a "Free Israel" campaign.

Anonymous said...

AP, walk towards the light. Abandon him!

I'm out to get my kiddos. Please no enabling the girls. They are only on Step 1. LOL

Robin in Montana said...

I don't know, obviously, having never been there with a *child, but just looking at my mom and being there with her those last few hours, I would never in a million years been tweeting about it. I don't say that to judge, because we all handle what we have to handle in our own way, but I'm just saying, for *me, with my mother, not even a child, that last time was something intensely personal, to the point I resented all the people from my dad's church who were there and just trying to be supportive. It was between me and her, and my dad, no one else, and I would never have wanted to share that with anyone.

Which? Yeah, that just made me bawl. Dammit.

Robin in Montana said...

*have been

Angie said...

"I *was becoming immune and beginning to look at it as entertainment and that wasn't right." I feel the same way, and am ashamed to admit it. My first sick-kid blog was "He Will Carry Me," which I found through an IRL friend's blog. That blog chronicalled Stacy's pregnancy with her son Isaac who had multiple conditions that indicated he would not live after birth.

From there I found Angie Smith's Blog, and from there found Kelly Stamp's Blog and Stellan.

I "cared" about them all and cried and wished them well. (By the way, Stacy just had a healthy baby girl, and I'm so happy for her.) But I don't know them and it did kind of feel like using their tragedies for entertainment. And I try to avoid checking into new blogs that are pointed out.

I might feel differently if I were religious in any way and thought my prayers for them actually made a difference.

Lindsay said...

It's kind of weird, though. I am religious. But I think I figure, God performed miracles before there was the internet. Before the internet, I wouldn't have known about a little boy with a heart condition in Minnesota and wouldn't have prayed for him. Would the outcome have been different if *I hadn't prayed for him? I don't know. It probably helps to comfort the parents to know that people all over are praying for them, but does it cause God to perform a miracle? I don't know.

Whoa - that post was all over the place, wasn't it?

Lindsay said...

Oh, and since I'm so long-winded, that brought another question to mind. Is it quantity or quality? Sometimes I wonder with the whole internet prayer thing if people think the more people they have praying for them, the better their odds are. I don't know if I buy that. And as much as I appreciate good wishes and prayers from people I don't know, I would take one good prayer from my mother than 40 prayers from strangers.

Robin in Montana said...

Lindsay -- all interesting points. Here's what I wonder, and I know this has been brought up somewhere else I've been reading recently, just can't think where. If a million people are praying for your child and that child lives, is that proof that there were just enough prayers said? If somenone else's child dies, is that just becuase not enough people prayed? What if a million people are praying for your child and that child *still dies? What does that mean? You know?

KaytieJ said...

RiM - I love you!
"It was between me and her, and my dad, no one else, and I would never have wanted to share that with anyone.

Which? Yeah, that just made me bawl. Dammit."

I went through this with my mom, and holding her in my arms. There is no way, NO WAY, I could take pics and tweet. It was me and her. When my son was almost intubated last year, I can not even imagine taking the time for pics of him, the monitors, the nurses and doctors, or tweets or posting them. My eyes and heart were for them only.

Someone here said that in special cases to raise awareness of certain diseases or disabilities that it would be ok. For that I agree. I just want to make sure the Rights of the individual to privacy are protected and they are not being exploited.

Lindsay said...

Robin - Exactly. I just don't know. And if you are supposed to believe (and I don't have my bible right here so I can't thump it and give you the exact passage) that all your days have already been written from the time you were in your mother's womb, does prayer about healing make a difference at all anyway.

Does God change His mind because the magic number of praying people was hit? I don't think so, but that's what that kind of mentality portrays God as doing.

My personal feeling is that when I pray for someone, it is that they accept God's will and that they find comfort in Him during their trials. I tell God what I hope for, but I doubt that He changes his mind because it's what *I wanted him to do.

Lindsay said...

And the more we talk about this, I can see why people who've lost a child find the McK's so damned offensive.

Robin in Montana said...

Kaytie -- thank you for understanding that. My eyes and heart were for them only. I love that. :*)

And yes, Lindsay, I agree, and I've gotten in a million arguments over the years on message board and such over that very topic -- I think it's appropriate to beg God for what you *want, but also at the same time to pray asking for the grace and strength to accept what's happening and whatever the final outcome may be. For *me, (and this is just my opinion) demanding God or even begging for a particular outcome just sets me personally up for too much of a fall. I think it's totally acceptable to plead for what you want to happen, but also with the knowledge in mind that just because I want it to happen doesn't mean it's going to, or that it's God's will.

On that note, I'm off to buy my chickens for beer butt chicken.

Robin in Montana said...

No shit, Lindsay. And that she is so blithe and nonchalant about the whole thing.

Lindsay said...

Enjoy the chickens! I must go sign Chloe up for preschool now. Sad. And happy. All at the same time.

kristin said...

Alright ladies - I'm out - wish me luck!

I leave with this playing in the background - Bust a move!

KaytieJ said...

Lindsay "My personal feeling is that when I pray for someone, it is that they accept God's will and that they find comfort in Him during their trials. I tell God what I hope for, but I doubt that He changes his mind because it's what *I wanted him to do."
So well said.

KaytieJ said...

Kristin - Good luck to you!!! Let us know how it goes, please.

Lindsay - Yes. That is such a sad and happy time!

Sue - if you're here, come out of lurkdom. We are good witches....

Is anyone else having a problem posting today?

PJ said...

Sue,
I'm even wearing my Glinda costume.....

Angie said...

Ohhhh, pretty CK!!

Angie said...

Sandy, it often takes me three clicks on "post comment" to post. Especially from work. The first time I click, I usually get an error.

PJ said...

Encouraged Rhys to stop by too - she's on MWoP now.

Anonymous said...

I'll post. It says your comment has been posted. Then it doesn't show up. Then it's there after refreshing a half dozen times.

PJ said...

Off to counseling appt wearing my Glinda dress and tiara, with wand in hand. Do you think my therapist will want to discuss that?

Anonymous said...

CK, she may want to. Just saying.

I had to deal with the biggest bitch at the OB's office today.

Evening Dasies! I am sittng her with a glass of wine to unwind and man it is good. I think I will go fill up my glass before the hubs gets home so he can fill it up again when he walks in!

suz said...

SW, when is your dinner party, tomorrow night?
Hi Mulie :O)

Angie said...

Dinner party is Saturday, Suz. I don't do Friday night dinner parties, generally speaking. Wine sounds good!

Survivor's on!!!

suz said...

SW, It is only 5pm here. Go enjoy Survivor, I gotta go make dinner, bbl.

Angie said...

Mulie, what did the OB bitch do?

Muliebrity said...

I thought my appt was at 11:30, but it was actually at 11. Since I was kept waiting over 2 hours my last appt you would think that my mix up was no big deal. Apparently it was to her. She totally bitched me out!

kristin said...

Hey ladies! I'm back. My feet are killing me and I'm tired.

I'm going to go spend some time with the boy!

I'll be back later!

Angie said...

Hey Kristin! How did it go?

Mulie, that's crazy. You got to see the Dr. though, right?

Taiya, how did your husband's appt. go?

KaytieJ said...

Anonymous said...

Hey all. I just got back from the CVS Minute Clinic. I have a goiter sized lymph node, golf ball sized yucky tonsil, nasty hurting ear. The result, no strep and the ear is fine. I still feel like poop!

KaytieJ said...

Taiya - yes I remember having those. Must be all the hormones.

KaytieJ said...

Sandy - I am so sorry. Glad you don't have strep, though.

kristin said...

Hey ladies - job fair was eh..long lines - no real feed back - and still apply on-line.

Feet hurt and I followed the signs that said Job fair - yeah, I parked the farthest from the damn job fair possible.

I'm tired, feet hurt, throat hurts and I'm pissy :)

How is everyone elses evening?

Taiya - glad to hear about hubby!

Mulie - sorry about the BOB!

Sandy - then what did they say was wrong?

Anonymous said...

I was hesitating on going but there is strep in both of my kids' classrooms. They sent the culture out but she said it mostly likely will come back as nothing but a virus type thing.

Anonymous said...

Hi everyone.

This working full time deal reaalllly cuts into my online chatting.

KaytieJ, I think pine nuts would be great. I would toast them!

Confession: I have eaten two New York strip steaks in two days. I'm having meat sweats.

Anyone want to volunteer to come rub my feet?

Night ladies!

Sorry I can't contribute more.

*see ya tomorrow!

Night Kristin! I'm heading out too. I *stupidly signed up to go to a breakfast thing tomorrow. Something about women's history month. And it starts at 7:00 AM (my normal wake up time) on the other side of town. So ugh, and good night!

Hi Ap,
And on that thought, I'm off to bed. Husband is already there - maybe I'll dream of dark meat turkey testicles.

KaytieJ said...

AP - I am sorry to hear you had leaks. I know it could have been so much worse, glad you are safe. Are the leaks something you can fix?

KaytieJ said...

Ooohhhh A too. (AI)

KaytieJ said...

Turkey Testicles? We raised 20 turkeys, and damn I missed out!

Lisa said...

CK, I hope I don't share your dreams!

Kayte, I need a new roof desperately and have for a few years. I keep putting it off in hopes a hurricane will do it in finally and I can claim it on my insurance. I'm betting this summer will be my "lucky" summer.

Jake's going to be gone until Monday. He's going to stay with a friend in Orlando and they're going to go to Megacon all weekend. It's going to be quiet around here, but nice, too...I love him to death, but I miss alone time and he's such a homebody that I rarely get any. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with myself!

Shannon said...

Um RiM I will drive to MT to see you but I dont know about the whole testicle festival LOL

KaytieJ said...

AP - Dare I wish you a "lucky" summer? :::the thought of your roof flying off has my knees quaking:::

Lisa said...

Oooooh, that's it...I'll try something new to cook, thank you! I think I also want to go back to World Market and also to Olde Time Pottery. And yes, I'd like wishes for any hurricanes but but Cat 5s, please.

Karen - How did the move for your mom go? Sounded like a lot of stairs to be climbing. Made my knees ache for ya.

Loved it Jeanette! I'm ready too!

Kaytie - we started moving some small stuff for my mom earlier in the week, the kitchen cabinet and bathroom linen closet and stuff - tomorrow we are moving a few more things and then Sat. we are renting the truck and moving the rest - so far its moving along well - its the 11th floor in a high rise, but there is a big service elevator! and there are even some grocery shopping carts in the lobby of the building to load the boxes up on to make less trips - I think it will do well, and we have alot of help other than Patti and I - so hopefully it will go well! Thanks for asking - you have a great memory!

Karen - What a relief! From earlier I thought you had to trudge all the stuff up the stairs. And phew! Thank you for the memory compliment - I swear - lately I have had swiss cheese brain! I am also very happy to hear that your mom will not be having to walk all those stairs! Good luck with the rest of the move.

Nite all - this Theraflu dose is kickin' in! See ya in the morning.

morning ladies!

Even with all the sleep, I still feel like ca-ca :(

I hope everyone else is feeling better this morning.

Morning Kristin! Sorry you still feel sick. :( Blah.

kristin said...

Thanks Taiya! How are you?

It would be better if I didn't have so much going on this weekend, ya know?

I'll survive.

Hi all!

Taiya- I'm so glad your husband just has lipomas!

Kristin- I'm sorry you don't feel good :(

Good morning! Kristin, sorry you're still feeling bad.

TGIF to all the working daisies around here!

I spoke with Tee briefly last night. She's home from the hospital, worn out and still not feeling great. Hopefully she will feel like popping in soon.

LFOB Kay, if you read this, I hope you're hanging in there.

Still raining...still leaking...still prefer it over a bright, sunny day. :-)

Hi AP!

You prefer a rainy day to a sunny one? That is bizarre...

AP! I am going to try to call her later. I went to bed before I got her e-mail.

Yeah, LM has swim lessons in the morning and then we have my sisters baby shower (couples) and on Sunday we are getting together for my BIL b-day.

On top of that, my sis who is hosting the shower has been sick for over a week. She thought she was better and then it hit her again. Hopefully she will feel better tomorrow.

I sometimes like rainy days over sunny but right now it is a crisp 49 out and not a cloud in the sky.

Enjoy the warm weather Taiya.

Corinne, yes, it probably sounds bizarre to many people but I was actually diagnosed with Reverse Seasonal Affective Disorder. Leave it to be to have a disorder and then do it ass backwards. ;-) For the most part, I'm no fan of sunshine and warmth...give me cold, rainy and windy and I'm a happy girl.

Taiya - he is 3 and I started him out in a mommy and me class at around 6 months. I am a water baby and my mom has a pool so he is really comfortable with the water, I just want him to get the mechanics down and learn some rules. The little ones seem to listen to others more than they do their own parent, so swim lessons it is. I actually sub on occasion over there.

I *loved swimming as a kid. I still do. I think it's cool to start learning very early :)

AP- Lol. You can move to Belgium, you'd fit right in. We have about ten days of sunshine per year and then it's rain. And rain. And rain.

kristin said...

Oh Corinne - I have been swimming since I can remember - both my grandparents had lakes, so we were always in the water in the summer - then when we moved to Texas I was on the swim team and then I was forced to get a job and I worked at a waterpark as a lifeguard.I worked there for about 6 years. Then I went and got my Marine Biology degree - and am scuba certified. It is just a passion and I think LM is giong to have that same passion.

I can't remember if I took Ibuprofen or not this morning :( My head is killing me.

Good Morning Ladies!

Kristin, my head hurts so bad too.

Throat is still swollen, goiter looking lymph node, pulsating ear! Someone shoot me with a daisy!

kristin said...

Taiya - LM's right now is semi-private so I don't have to get in. Depending on your comfort level and her ability to listen to others - that might be better. I know the baby ducks class was up until about 2. LM and I transitioned to another class where I was still in the water but not doing as much and now he is in a class with 2 other boys and does really well. It is 30 minutes and that is about all he can stand - boys and attention spans. :)

Oh Sandy - I am sorry. I know you said the doctor said no strep but did he tell you what it might be - or what to do to get better?

My throat is sore but not a constant sore.

I just wish the dull throbbing in my temples would go away.

I hope you feel better. I wish I hadn't of left early yesterday, then maybe I could've stayed in bed.

He said a virus if the second culture for strep comes back negative. So that means it just has to run it's course. Fun times.

My head feels like it's in a vice.

BBL, I've got to get my oldest ready for school. My little guy is being a defiant one today too.

kristin said...

Why is it that I always have good intentions of doing things once I get home (apply for Teaching position, look at study guides for tests, look for my transcripts, etc) and then when I get home I don't do any of that.

I guess I need to start making a list.

I did have one promising lead but it is a drive - from an intermediate school - they just put in a new science lab last year. Sounds interesting.

Kristin- The max daily dose of Ibuprofen (for over the counter use) is 1200mg. I don't know what dosage of Ibuprofen you have but if it's 200mg, you can def. take another one now. Even if it's 400mg, you could take another without risking any real side-effects.

Hi Sandy! I'm sorry you're sick :( Strep throat is no fun.

kristin said...

mine too Sandy - he didn't want the outfit I picked out so I had to go get another one, then he wouldn't put his pants on. uggghhh!

I am sorry!

kristin said...

Oh, and I got a lot of compliments on my resume and my portfolio - so maybe mine will stand out.

I'd rather work for the Klein district but my thought is, if I get my foot in the door - anywhere - I can get some experience and transfer.

kristin said...

Thanks Corinne.

I think I am going to take more in a few. Also going to turn down the AC b/c I'm cold - my sis isn't here yet to bitch.

kristin said...

Oh, and I want to pimp my sis a bit.

She is having free shipping for the month of March for her Scentsy products.

You just have to e-mail her your order!

I can send you her info or I have a shortcut on my blog.

T@iy@ said...

Kristin- is the ibuprofen for a headache? I usually have better luck with tylenol. From what I understand ibuprofen is more for aches and pains, and tylenol for headaches. Just my take on things, and what works for me. You can take both at once, too, just in case you didn't know. (I get sinus infections and colds a lot because I am allergic to the world at large, so colds and things stick to me like glue) I don't want to sound like a know it all!
