On cyber drama - here is what I know. I've commented on JM and GM online. I don't know if the two are related but there is a new blog site meant to call out "blog haters". Last week the blog's author put up a picture of my house. She said it was a random picture from google earth but how likely is that? Anyway, that's what I know. Mea culpa for commenting on the lives of people I don't know.
My big news is hubs job over hired, he was the last one in so he got his pink slip last week. The commute was really long so while I'm not glad I don't think it's the worst thing to happen. I'm going to go back to work FT tomorrow and now that he's home we can start the renovations on our house. I just need to figure out what I want to do - and I need stripey for that!

I feel about kittens like I do about babies. They are darling to look at and fun to play with/hold for a few minutes. But then they get annoying. I prefer cats.

I'm such a beer loser. I'll go over to someone's house and they'll say "Would you like a beer?" And I'll ask what kind they have, and they spout off all these "fancy" beers and I say, "Got any Bud Light? Coors Light?" Then I drink water.
Oh, believe me I wanted to, Bella. But I have a strict no drinking and driving policy, so since I was flying solo, I couldn't enjoy sipping samples like I would have wanted to. :(

Of course you get all chatty when I am busy doing projects. I am rag-painting the stool that my hubs made for DD, making a chalkboard out of a cabinet door, and *finally finishing the mailbox I started painting about 5 weeks ago. :)

Margaret- sorry about your husband's job. Can I just say I snickered a bit at "Mr. Margaret'? Can I ask what kind of renovations? I am an HGTV addict and the word "renovations" gets me all in a tizzy and makes want to go to Home Depot and do them to my house.
He is union so he can't look on his own or work non-union because he would lose his benefits. He does commercial jobs and there just isn't a lot here right now. Yes, he'll be working on our house and doing a lot of fishing :) We live in the house he grew up in and we need to re-do some rooms.
AP - I had posted that over on fellowship - stripey is one of the ladies over there who knows remodeling the way I like it :)

I always have grand plans for renovations. My problem is that if I see five different styles of the same thing, say bathroom sinks, I will immediately gravitate to the most obscenely expensive one. This happens with purses, as well. So, we do things around here slow but sure. We need to do the kitchen so badly, but it's just so pricey to redo the kitchen, bah!
Robin, too bad you didn't get to sample any beer, but I totally understand about not drinking and driving...that's why I spend a lot of time at home :D

Taiya - we are taking down the drywall and ceilings in the living room, Hannah's room and my office and putting up new drywall and some built in shelves. I wanted to blow-out the one wall and make our living room bigger but I've not been able to negotiate that.
Margaret - Good luck with the house renovations. That is nice to have him be able to do it. Such a pain having strangers in the house. I do hope he can get a job soon, though.
Hello R2! My dh hooked up the tractor with the rototiller and when he gets home today, I am hoping we can get my big garden started. My dh loves "Tractor Therapy" and it sounds like yours does, too.

I have a hard time making up my mind too Bella. I've lived here almost 8 years and so far we've only redone 1 bathroom and a hallway. We had to get a new roof a few years ago. When they took the shingles off the wood was rotten down through the joists. We ended up spending around 20 when it was supposed to be 5-7k. The problem was our bathrooms were not vented to the outside so all shower moisture ended up in the attic.

Tara, I saw that, too. Now he is going to go back to his bomb-making cave and try harder. They got fingerprints off everything in the car, though, so I bet they will find whoever did it. Guess he thought he didn't have to be careful since he expected it to blow to bits.

Kaytie, I'm trying to find it online and can't...it might be discontinued since I got it at the Dollar General but it's a pour/squirt bottle (not a spray) of Fantastik brand cleaner but they apparent;y partnered with Glade since it also had the Glade logo on it saying itscented with Glade's Clean Linen scent. I'd never seen it before and it cleaned really well, plus you can still smell the linen scent a bit today.

Hey y'all!! Oh, I love the Dollar General for cleaning supplies, AP. Cheaper and ours has a great selection. I usually get my TP and paper towels there, too so I don't have to risk getting into a fight w/someone at Wal-Mart.
I'm trying to get myself in a better mood. Stepson who's 21 and I haven't had the greatest relationship after husband died. It's really been something I've gone back and forth about b/c it's just a sticky situation w/me being step-parent, which sucks by the way. Daughter has really felt the brunt of it though b/c she truly misses her big brother being in her life. Anyway, he found both daughter and I on FB and friended us, which absolutely made my whole weekend. But... I've been so teary and just, I don't know... since last night. I guess just thinking back over memories and things. Even though it's been 3 years and I feel like I should be okay and am most days, this grief thing... it sucks. Just no way around. What y'all were saying earlier though about taking the time to grieve? So very true. And while I'm thinking about it.... this place? I don't give a shit what anybody says is one of the most open, accepting places where one can laugh, cry, bitch, or scream and just be who they are I've seen online and I've been online for a long damn time.

I don't know if y'all have the Festival and Fabuloso brands of cleaners up there or if they're pretty regional but if you can find them, I think you'll like them. They clean well, but they are perfumed. I think they even say that's one of their properties. Awww, Molly, your step-son finding you turned out to be such a bittersweet thing, then. But good. In the end, very good and I'm glad for you and your daughter. :-) Yep, I love the Dollar General for cleaning stuff, too! There's a DG Marketplace near here and they've got a little grocery store section with meats and everything, all at great prices.

AP, I use Fabuloso. I get it at the Hispanic grocery store near my house. If you ever want to get *heavily perfumed cleaners, hit up any store catering to the Latino population. I like to shop there because they carry the stuff for me to make my own laundry detergent.
BJ, glad you reconnected with your step-son, and sorry it brought on memories that made you sad. Sometimes it's good to think about those type of things, though. Hopefully this will all be a great thing, in the end.
So, it's 90 degrees w/a humidity index of 1000 here today. I'm hot, bitchy, and trying to pull myself outta this funk.
Thought I'd run to the corner store where they have a crushed ice machine. I love me some Coke Zero over crushed ice! Ok, this is a total redneck little store where they have tables in the back (by the ice machine) where all the nasty old men sit around and drink coffee. I was thrilled to see only 1 old man getting up, I thought, to leave b/c me = bitchy, hot, no shower, NOT in the mood to chit chat w/dirty old men today.
Oh, hell no, Mr. cigar hangin' out of his mouth, rope (yes, thin white rope) for a belt to hold his pants up wanted to know if he could shovel my ice into the bag for me. WTF? I thanked him and told him I could get it. Oh, hell no. He grabs the bag and tells me to hold it open while he shovels the ice. I'm thinking, the whole time I'm biting the side of my cheek to keep from laughing, "What would the daisies do?" WWDD =) Would the daisies be nice and let the old fart dip the ice out? Or would the daisies tell him to get the hell outta the way? LOL Oh and his fingernails were not the cleanest I've ever seen either. Gross!
Anyway, it did lighten my mood a little, just the sheer ridiculousness of the situation. Now, I'm at home, w/a bag of crushed ice in the freezer, feeling like I either need to bleach the hell of it or just throw it away.
Do you think we should get WWDD bracelets made, though? ;)

Margaret, I agree with you that it's just a matter of time until there are more terrorists attacks in the U.S. I tend to think that's the price of living in a free country, and that efforts to "fight terrorism" are not going to be successful. Kind of like the war on drugs.

You know, fighting terrorism by starting wars and destroying cultures is NOT the way to go. IMO, G. Bush made a huge mistake to start wars both in Afghanistan and Iraq.

BJ, it comes and goes. I've been taking a muscle relaxer and anti-inflammatory and that helps a lot, but I can't take those when I have adult beverages. So, I didn't take them yesterday, and I am feeling it today. It's almost to the point that pain is a constant, so I don't really notice it anymore. Thanks for asking.
msntgal, my favorite book is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Another two that I read a couple months ago are Wounded Warriors, and The Zoo on the Road to Nablus. They are not super-uplifting, but they are good reads.

The black and white kitten is one that Megan is seriously considering keeping, cause the two black ones are not all black, and she wanted an all black ones, but they both have some white on them... So the white with black spots one she really likes, she used to have one when she was little that looked like that named Jasmine - and she has aleady named that b&w one either Rocky or Roxy - depending on if its a boy/girl - cause the face is white and it has one black eye - I will get more pics in a few days when they have fluffed out and grown a little bit... Something about kittens that just makes you smile right?
Well, Ang came to get Tay and we have about 20 minutes til we have to go meet my sister and mom and watch my niece's last choir concert of the year... its in a Lutheran church down the road from us - I sure hope lightening doesn't strike or the roof doesn't collapse cause we are there today!! Speaking of churches, my mom is very active in hers, and she just told Patti and I the other night that she is helping a committee write the church's mission statement on full acceptance of gays and lesbians, showed us a book that they are working from that has a ton of biblical quotes and things showing why being gay is NOT against the bible, and explaining why other churches feel that it is. She needed to keep the book but will loan it to us as soon as they get done with their mission statement, I'm excited to read it, just to see what it says... I thought it was pretty interesting - and my mom is very proud to be helping the church with this project! Patti told her you've sure come a long way - and she said Oh boy - yes I have haven't I!! LOL

Msntgal, if you like Victorian murder mysteries, the Anne Perry books are good. I love them for good distractions. Also, just the old classics like Little Women or anything written by a Bronte are good choices...very comforting books.

I'm covered in green oil-based paint because I finally tried to finish painting the backyard chairs. I have to do it when M. is napping because she loves to touch, you know, everything. I should be able to put the final coat on them Tuesday.
How is everyone?
We had another corgi we rescued and loved out Ein. Unfortunately, he was hit by a car and had to be put down about a year after we paid $2500 for some surgery to fix his bladder, stomach and intestine. It was heart breaking!
We feel so lucky to have found Rolf. He is young and healthy. A huge difference from our sick doggy.
Erin, little kittens hissing is so cute! They arch their backs and walk sideways trying to be "big". It's darling!
