Big deal.  :-P

Sad news for us, I won't have the laptop back until the 14th. :o(

SI Plan B does have it's limits but I do think if it were more available OR taught as a birth control option, there would be less abortions. As I understand it, Plan B is $50 bucks unless you go to planned parenthood, then it is free.

Brie said...

and SI I have no freaking clue who you are BTW! :)

. said...

I'v heard Plan B is some pretty nasty stuff, makes you really sick. I don't know anyone that has used that as an option.
I don't know how I feel about it. It's better than having an abortion, but I still don't like it as an idea of BC. Even with all the info. on STDs and BC options, there are still so many people that are just irresponsible.

Muliebrity said...

Another cousin has used Plan B several times, and didn't share the side effects. She was just grateful she was able to take it.

Erin said...

Afternoon.
BD- I agree with you about being harder on yourself than on others.

Muliebrity said...

I really, really have to get going, but I am glad you brought this up, MP! I have really been struggling with being pro-life but for reformation of social programs.

On a side note and then I'm out of here, I see so many single parents who claim to have no money, but smoke, have cable, cells phone, and car payments. I really have a problem with the mentality of accepting social programs, but still want to have "it all". Again, another complicated question. How can you "look down" on accepting WIC, when "you" try and get grants for education. It's all coming from the same pot, KWIM?

Peace out!

Shannon said...

When I took the Plan B I didnt have any of the side effect that they say go along with it.

I do agree that with STD's and all the options out there it is sad that there are still so many that are irresponsible. I have taught my kids that they are to NEVER expect anyone to be responsible for their body...they have to make sure there is enough and adequate protection. It only takes one time to ruin your life forever or change it forever.

Hello Jill

Erin said...

I had a friend who was preganant with a trisomy baby. She was fully ready to carry him until delivery. The pregnancy started to cause her kidneys to fail and it spiraled downhill from there. She had to terminate to save her life. She was devastated.

Erin said...

Hi Jill.

I pretty much agree with Bd re:abortion.

I know that if I got pregnant right now, even if it would kill all my ambitions of having a career, I wouldn't abort.

I don't judge people who go that route IF they have valid reasons, much like Margaret's.

What I find despicable, however, is that some women go from one night stand to one night stand, get pregnant, and abort without thinking twice.
I heard on a documentary a woman who had aborted 6 (!) times and was surprised when she couldn't get pregnant on her own afterwards.

A life is a life and every decision that is made regarding abortion should take that into consideration.

I have more complex thoughts on therapeutical abortion, though. (Even if the term is not well chosen at.all.)

twirldawg said...

Oh my, I walked into an abortion conversation.

Shannon said...

Gangsta Penguine, though I am pro choice I do think that the decision to have an abortion should be heavily weighed. It hurts my heart when people see that as their first or only option because there are options. I do believe it is a woman's choice but I think that with having a choice also means that you have to look at all of your choices. You also have to be willing to know that having sex means you can get pregnant, instead of just winging it and hoping it doesnt happen you have to be willing to prevent.

Erin said...

S&I -agree. I always say I am pro choice, *not pro abortion. The choice should be available, and I would not judge anyone else's choice, but using abortion as birth control? Not okay. And, make no mistake, our taxes go for Medical Assistance and WIC, but they also go for abortions to those who can not afford one.

Anonymous said...

Vile, Vile - I cannot tell you the AGONY we went through when I was told I was prego and had to terminate. I hate to think that women who go through that kind of agony have to walk into clinics with people shouting at them. Horrible!

Brie said...

VVC, I think in that instance, to save the mother's life, there are steps that must be taken.

Anonymous said...

S&I - "I do believe it is a woman's choice but I think that with having a choice also means that you have to look at all of your choices."

Exactly.

VVC - "The choice should be available, and I would not judge anyone else's choice, but using abortion as birth control? Not okay"

Ditto this, too.

Robin in Montana said...

Totally OT of abortion, and *not in an attempt to bash JM, since it has been called to my attention that *that is vile, vile, vile, but I was just reading old posts, and read RV's post where he says an organization chose to sever their ties with him and JM because of his past actions and some of his current posts -- was that Compassion? Anyone know? Not asking to bash, just curious.

Anonymous said...

Not RiM (what a mysterious name, who could you be? Hmmm :P) - I have no idea. I've never been able to read RV's drivel.

Angie said...

Afternoon all! Busy day here at the precinct, so I just have a minute to check in. I don't think abortion is murder, and I don't think the birth control pill, which can act as an abortifacient (sp?), is either.

Off to put out an APB on Joe Jonas. Be back later!

Anonymous said...

TBLW - Oh, the birth control pill does not cause abortion per se. People who claim it does have no idea how the pill works.

In most cases, if you write a poem, compose a song, make a video, draw a picture, or take a photograph, you automatically own the copyright to that work. (The exceptions are when the content of your work is itself copyrighted, such as when a bootlegger films a movie.) As the owner of this content, you can do whatever you'd like with it—including reproducing it on your blog. So get out there with your camera!

It should be noted that in addition to being vile women, some of us are polygamist.

Angie said...

Ha! Margene has to be Jill or Erin, right? :-)

Robin in Montana said...

I love that song. Darn you, BD!

Is Taiya still around? The Fanatics Without Precocity didn't run her off, did they?

Robin in Montana said...

Which one of us are polygamists? :::looks around suspiciously:::

Angie said...

Penguin said: "People who claim it does have no idea how the pill works."

That's a very pat statement. I understand that the pill prevents pregnancy in several ways, and one of them is to prevent a fertilized egg (if the first couple of ways don't work and an egg is fertilized) from attaching to the wall of the uterus. What information do you have to the contrary?

Robin in Montana said...

Was just watching some footage of the flooding in TN -- crazy!

Anonymous said...

good afternoon ladies, how are we all doing today?

Robin in Montana said...

Hi Megan!

Anyone out there have any websites/tips on finding the best deal for motel/hotels?

Anonymous said...

SW - Without going into too much details, the pill can prevent an egg from attaching itself to the uterine wall. However, the probability of fertilization is *SO small, that most scientists don't consider the pill to be abortifacient. The main mechanisms of the pill are the prevention of ovulation and the modification of the cervical mucus to prevent the sperm from penetrating the upper genital tract.
(Oh and forgive my statement, it was very blunt and I didn't mean it that way!):)

Not RiM - I saw the flooding in Nashville on the news! Cuh-razy!

Angie said...

Hi Megan! I'm arguing with some anonymous gangsta penguin about the Pill. I think it can be an abortifacient, though I do not know how to spell that word. Penguin thinks it cannot.

Penguin, most scientists also believe in evolution and global warming, and we all know they're full of crap about those positions too! :-D (j/k)

Robin in Montana said...

Testing, testing

Robin in Montana said...

Oooohhh, SW said scientists are full of crap about evolution and global warming. ::: fires up the popcorn maker:::

SW - I, too, think that everyone who believes in evolution and global warming is sent by Satan to corrupt humanity and make everyone surrender their soul to the devil ;-D

Shit, shit. I just found out that my property in KY is underwater. I supposed it's not a big deal since it's mostly just land but there are piles and piles of old river rock saved from the stonework on my Mamaw's house and I'd wanted to reuse them someday. I hope they aren't swept away. :-/

Lisa said...

"And I also agree that no government law should supersede God's law, I also believe that we are to obey the laws of the land(second time I have type that out today-weird) and use our rights to vote to express our beliefs."

I dunno, Brie, we're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one. If I *really think babies are being murdered, I'm not going to wait around until election season so I can vote to try to get it stopped. But maybe that's just me.

"I really, really have to get going, but I am glad you brought this up, MP!"

We handled it pretty well, didn't we all? It just goes to show that adults can behave when they want to and aren't being forced to. :-D

"Again, another complicated question. How can you "look down" on accepting WIC, when "you" try and get grants for education. It's all coming from the same pot, KWIM?"

You're exactly right...same pot as any welfare program. Grants are another welfare program, actually. That makes people uncomfortable to admit, I know, but they meet the exact same criteria - means-tested government assistance and from taxpayer dollars. I don't think we want to get me started on that topic today, though.

Lisa said...

And while I'm rambling, who knows what about FTWMommy? I heard from a "reliable source" (that was fun to say!) that she's here, with us. Anyone? Anything?

Lisa said...

Not Robin, yes, Israel was referring to Compassion.

The new names are cracking me up, by the way, and I'm especially glad for the precinct update. :-D

Where's Sandy been? I miss her. Unless she's here and I'm not realizing it.

Brie said...

I honestly think FTWMommy and GM are one and the same. I think she just keeps coming back as someone else.

Robin in Montana said...

Brie - I dunno, since I never did really "get" the Twitter thing, anyway, but isn't FTWMommy one that Sue had rounds with?

Suuuueeee???? Are you here? (You need to comment, I'm wondering how the monkey is doing)

Brie said...

We all(Myself, FTWmommysuxs and wakeuplilones) went rounds with her, she deleted her account and then not too much longer 2toPlay came on and started back up and now 2toplay is also tweeting as fw0p and plugging the blog. Both 2toplay and FTWmommy talked all the time about their juicy blog and then we had FWOP.

Brie said...

holy crap I just re read what I wrote and if you dont follow twitter you will have no idea what I am talking about!

twirldawg said...

I have it from a reliable source that Sue is doing well.
(I'm not Sue)

Lisa said...

I can't keep up with all this Twitter stuff. I guess I just don't "get" it. I opened one and thing I've tweeted twice. It sounds very dramatic, though!

Robin in Montana said...

Margene - Tell your reliable source to tell Sue to get herself over here. Or the monkey gets nabbed. I'm just sayin'.

Brie - No, I don't get it. lol, hte whole Twitter thing. What was your Twitter name?

Lisa said...

Margene, I wish that reliable source would yank Sue's ass over here. And where's Erica Mac these days? Is she doing okay, does anyone know?

Robin in Montana said...

I opened a tweet account, too, but I was totally lost.

I believe in Abstinence.
When I am not Abstaining due to my primal urges for my over 50 yr dh, I use Birth Control.
At close to 50 and he over 50, we are in no way engaging in Sex to Procreate.
If I were to become Pregnant NO one has the right to tell me I have to bear and deliver that child.
Therefore, I am Pro Choice.

Robin in Montana said...

I worship with someone who has had the big V. If by some chance that were to *still be an oops (and I guess those happen) I would be *unhinged, but I wouldn't abort. At least that's my stance from right here and now, you know?

Robin in Montana said...

KaytieJ- I didn't mean my comment to sound snotty or superior. Just saying. I said earlier today (under my very, very secret SN) that I think it's every person's choice based on their circumstance and it's not for me to decide right or wrong. (Well, I didn' say that -- BD said it, and I agreed.)

KaytieJ said...

Tara - wonderful news!

S & I :::nodding::: In the ProLife/ProChoice discussions, I notice a lack of talk about older women and the decisions they face when pregnant.

Margaret - What you went through would be devastating. And I agree that it is heart breaking to see protesters harassing women going into clinics. Who ever knows what is truly going on in another's shoes.

KaytieJ said...

Vile World - and I agreed with you :-D Sorry if I made you feel you were being snotty. I did not think you were in the first place. Now, hmmmm, I have no idea who your are. At first the word worship gave me a clue, I am so awful at guessing LOL!
