- Everyone is welcome! The only real rules here are no spamming shit and no posting personal addresses, phone numbers or other similar info. I don't need that kind of stress. That's it, although it could change if someone gets creative or something. If you don't like what is said here, you can: 1) Say so; 2) Hold it in and stew on it; 3. Address it privately to the person who said it; 4) Snark about it to your friends; 5) Leave. Don't bother me with it, I don't care and I won't get involved. I truly do not see what the big fuss is regarding Gay marriage between two consenting adults.
IN MY OPINION: When looking at the arguments denying blacks, chinese, etc. and women the same equality and rights as white men, nearly the same arguments were used. The basic argument was that it was against the Nature of God and his Laws.
Americans and their government have made great strides in recognizing the Human Rights of many of it's citizens. Denying a human the right to chose the partner of their choice and enter into a legally binding union is hypocrisy. (And no, I am not talking a partner of their choice as a goat, underage person, or bigamy).
I wonder if some of the difficulty of gay marriage would be resolved if the state got out of the marriage business and left that as a church sacrament with the rules made by the church. The government would issue civil union status to any couple; that would come with the rights that now attach to civil marriage. Those who wanted the church sacrament would have both the civil union from the state and the marriage from the church.
Okay. That seems really clear in my mind but I'm not sure if it would make sense to anyone reading.

How was everyone's day?
We are having buffalo chicken on the grill. I'm pretty excited about this. If anyone has a to-die-for chicken recipe, I'm all ears. We eat a lot of chicken, and I'm getting a bit tired of it.
And, I'm having a beer, because technically, it's Friday!

I don't have a problem with it either; I just think that if we separated church sacrament and civil union for all couples it would simplify things by removing from legal discussion the argument that some people make that "God intended one man and one woman." Fine. Your church can define marriage that way. But the state will define legal status the same for all committed couples who opt for civil union. I swear, it makes such good sense in my muddled mind.
And I'm also in favor of beer. And Buffalo Chicken.

RF, I agree on the your last post. Separate the church from the state in gay marriage, if it would make it easier to legalize.
