Mulie - Fertilization clinic is buying eggs from female students at universities. I am trying to figure out if they had offered that when I was a broke student, whether I would have donated some eggs for money.

I'm unwinding with some wine. I made a KILLER dinner tonight. Even Mr. BD liked it, and he's always got criticism to spare because I don't cook like BDMIL or BDSIL (professional chef).

BD - I am unwinding with a glass of wine from "ass kicking meeting AND *gulp PHOTOSHOOT.
Anytime you ever talk of your cooking I am with fork in hand and ready to be at your table. Now, what did you cook?
I am reallly having a hard time taking the Buddah line about not taking money for my eggs :-D
Here's what I did for dinner:
I had half a pork loin (less than 1.5 lbs). I sliced it into six pieces, like pork chops. I dipped it (rather than marinating) in rice wine vinegar and teriyaki sauce, then dredged in a mixture of flour, ground ginger, salt and pepper. Diced up some fresh ginger and garlic and tossed that in heated olive oil. Sauteed pork chops in this. When cooked through, I took out the chops and topped with chopped scallions. To the pan, added a touch more oil, ginger and garlic, and threw in fresh spinach. Cooked until wilted, topped with scallioned chop, and served over plain white rice.
If Mr. BD could have taken me there, on the table, he would have. But the children were there, so he just quizzed me on what I did relentlessly so I would never, ever forget.

BD - Actually, I got my ass handed to me at work a bit, due to budget stuff and then they turned around and wanted me in a photoshoot since I am on one of their special teams. I had gone there in a Kiss T-Shirt and Black jeans. So I was handed a pair of scrubs and I towed the line...but I think my smile was more of a scowl in the pic :-D

I spent the morning at the hospital with my godmother because my stoopid cousin (her son) broke his collarbone while skiing and was having surgery this a.m. (I hate my godmother but I'm trying to be nice ;) )
I hope he'll fully recover because he's a student at the Royal military school and wants to become an officer of the Belgian army. He kinda needs his arm to be fully mobile for that.
Also, I found out that a little girl I babysit became a big sister yesterday. Océa joins big sister Maia. The baby is adorable :)

LM had a rough night and was still whiney this morning but was able to snap out of it and ended up in a decent mood.

So I had to giggle at LM this morning - at school today it was wear your PJ's day and I was putting my clothes on for work and he looks at me and says "no, you need to wear you ajamas" in which I replied, "I wish mommy could wear pajamas to work but only you and your friends at school get to wear pajamas."

And that's just one of the millions of things she did.

Was saying that I like the name, Taiya. How is it pronounced? Long or short "e" sound? Will you use both names, or just Audre?
Can't remember if Imentioned it before, but last week a local woman here was headed to Idaho with her two kids for spring break - her husband decided to stay home and work - and no one knows for sure what happened, but her vehicle did hydroplane (the rumor is that she was texting) and she kind of T-boned/head-onned another car. Killed her, her 5th grade daughter, and all three occupants of the other car. The obits are in the paper today and it's just heartbreaking, and a reminder (to me, for sure) once again that just because we think we know what we're doing or that texting/talking on the phone/whatever is distracting, and just like *that you can change lives of many people forever. Her son that was with her was initially not expected to live, but he is apparently doing better now and they think will recover completely. So, so sad.

That accident is so sad Robin, I cant even put it into words.
My friend Tania was almost in a horrible accident last night. Some moron was plowing up the wrong way of a bridge here in town and she happened to see the car in front of her slam on their breaks and she had to swerve to the turn lane....just as she got over she saw the car slam into the car that had been directly behind her....if she hadnt had that startle reaction she would have been that car his.
Taiya - where do you live? (it's okay if you don't say) Becuase even here in this little dumb town (like 1200 people) one of the specialty gift stores has Lucchese's, and they are in Whitefish, which is bigger,and definitely geared towards tourists. Trying to think where else I"ve seen them -- stores like Corral West, etc., Not stores like Murdoch's, Big R, the typical feed/outdoor stores, though. I bought my Twisted X boots at a big rodeo/ranching exposition in Billings a couple years ago, but have never seen them in a store around here.
Shannon - Wow, and how fortunate for her. Were any of the other people in those cars hurt?

I live in S.W. Michigan. My hubs and I are kind of abnormal for our area, what with our love of cowboy boots and hats. I fell in love with them along with my deep-seated love of horses.
I can't wait until we move someday and I can have horses again. I really really really miss that part of my life. I have this thing about regrets and not having any, but selling my horses is one of those regrets. Although, it was necessary, I still wish I wouldn't have done it.

Needless to say Robin she had a couple beers when she got home. And that truck was actually behind the car that was behind her so that car you can see on the tow truck in the background would have been her.

We've been looking for a horse for Kelly this summer. I think we're maybe down to a horse a friend has that's a 5yo quarter horse gelding, buckskin, kind of green broke, but really, really level-headed and kind. We shall see. I am askeered to get on my horse for the first time this spring -- he's done nothing but eat to the point of looking like a barrel with legs this winter and he's going to be full of p & v.
Shannon - no kidding. I think of that often, one second, not even your *own doing, and everything is changed forever.
You know what I really hate is when we are getting ready to go somewhere and at the last second I remember I forgot something and have to go back in the house....then we get stuck behind an accident that if we had left on time we would have been involved in. It scares me it really does.
That's my favorite time to be on a horse, RiM. :) I had an Arabian and a Quarter Horse/Paint. The Arabian was full of energy, always. The Quarter Horse was too steady and easy going for me. I still loved her, and definitely loved riding her...
I just loved my Arab baby so so much. I still see him. i gave him to a friend whose daughter I gave lessons to for $100, so he lives up the road. I couldn't bear to sell him and get more money, but not know where he was going.
When we were in Wyoming there was a rodeo up the road from our campground (when I was a teenager and went on a family trip- not on the honeymoon husband trip) and it was about the best thing about our whole 3 week trip out west!
Oh Wyoming is so pretty...I lived there for a few months and really loved it even though it was my first real experience with true winter LOL
I was raised to be a total bigot about Arabians, but my ex-inlaws bought two arab geldings and those two horses were the absolute best horses. Full of energy, but totally sure-footed and reliable. Tie them up to the trailer, though, or do some other run of the mill, everday thing that they've had done hundreds of times, and they'd out of the blue freak out. I just saw a trailer for sale in town, and looking at it knew it was theirs because the entire back is kicked up from thetime my MIL tied Junior up to saddle him and he decided to flip over backwards, get his leg/hoof stuck in the crack between the trailer and the door opening and then kick the crap out of the trailer with his other three legs. lol.
My horse is Quarter Horse/Thoroughbred. Jerry. Long-legged and once his weight gets down, hard to keep weight on. Conformationally very, very incorrect, but sweet as anything and will just do anything you ask of him with no drama, so he gets forgiven his homeliness. :-D
Where at in Wyoming?
I lived in Wind River....outside of Riverton....It was so pretty there but so different from the Willamette Valley that I love so much :)
Hard to beat the Willamette Valley, it is beautiful. I do miss the coast, too, but I can't say as I miss southern Oregon and the scrubby hills they call mountains. :)
I loved Trig. He wasn't as unpredictable as I had heard about the breed. I got him when I was 11 and he was 2. My parents heard so many horror stories that they were concerned for a while, but I refused to give him up. He turned out to be an excellent horse. He was definitely full of it, but it was great for me.
Tilly, on the other hand, hadn't been raised in the best of environments, and she didn't have quite the personality of Trig, although it came out more the longer I had her. I sold her to a lady who was my youth group leader, and she lives about 5 minutes away so I can still see her, too. To this day she whinnies at me any time she sees me.

Jerry had a ... bad summer when he was 3 or so. He had a bad tooth, and the vet said it needed pulled, which would need to be done at the college (Corvallis, Shannon) and when I called they said at least $6,000. I only paid $1,500 for him, and there was no way I could afford that, so my own vet said he would give it a shot, but no guarantees. So ... many, many, *many visits to the vet's office (who was fresh out of school, not a large animal vet) and Jerry being laid out in the lawn out front while he tried to work on the tooth, and ... that tooth was not going anywhere. It's still there, although the actual tooth has died, so it doesn't give him problems. THEN, during that time, I had him in a pasture across the street from the vet's office, and he somehow got his lunk-head stuck in between the barn and the fence on a nail or somethign and cut his throat to the point the bone on his jaw was sticking out and you could see his jugular vein pulsing. So ... back to the vet he went for *that. So ... basically all summer meant he got antibiotics for the tooth in the form of a shot twice a day, he had stitches in the cut, which had to be cleaned, medicated, and wrapped twice a day. He wore a Kotex strapped to his jaw and wrapped up with the brightest, most obnoxious vet wrap I could find for months. ANyway, he and I bonded somuch during that time that he would stand out at the road and wait for my car and then run, bucking and whinnying like crazy, along the fence all the way up my driveway. I can still yell, "Jerry! Get *over here!" and he will come running. Dumb goof. :-D
Aww, they're beautiful, Taiya. Trig looks very, very much like the Arabians my inlaws had.

OT- I think I've just solved something that has been bugging me for some time.
I've always been intrigued by the fact that the private lives of politicians are so important to Americans, and even play a part in who they vote for.
This is something that wouldn't happen here. Even if our prime minister were cheating on his wife, he wouldn't be on the cover of a magazine. It wouldn't be qualified as 'newsworthy'.
Anyways, I've been wondering what the difference is. Not saying that one situation is better than the other, just wondering why there was such a difference.
I think I've figured it out. I think the solution is found in...Roman law.
Roman law is the source of continental law (i.e. France, Belgium, the Netherlands,etc.). Roman law separates public and private matters. I think that it has - subconsciously - impacted our culture and that's why the private lives of our politicians are not considered public matters.
The heritage of Roman law is not to be found in the American culture.
Does this hypothesis make sense?
I know this is totally random - and most likely not even interesting - but that's really been bothering me. Ha!

I can't say much, since I love the 'gossip' of celebrities/politicians/atheletes as much as the next guy, but I have wondered what difference it really makes in terms of what they *do. Take Tiger Woods, just for an example, and since he was mentioned here earlier. (and I was thinking of Michael Phelps as well) I do get that they play a role model role as well as just being good at their sports, but *why? Why do I want my kid to look at Tiger Woods as a role model just because he plays golf very well? And why does where he sticks his wenis (loved that, Margaret!) *matter in terms of who he is as an athlete? What does where my state senator sticks his wenis have to do with his ability to make good decisions for my state? I don't get it. Although I do follow it, I will admit.

I think if you (generic, as a parent) are allowing or pushing a sports star you know *nothing about outside of what the media chooses to let you know as a 'role model' for your kid, then it's your own fault if that role model 'fails' you, you know? Have your kids choose role models from people you know in real life, or people whose track records (heh, a sports analogy) have proven themselves over time, not just whoever is the latest and greatest. Whatever. I don't know.

But even with John Edwards, delivering the country to the Republicans ...the decisions he would have made are based on his politics, not what he does or doesn't do with his dick or who he does it with, you know? I think, based on our media and our ability to stick our noses into other people's private business and our ability to 'snoop' in general, the ability to sell a big, inflammatory story to the media for personal gain, has turned all this into a big circus. Whether that's to our benefit or not, I don't know. Celebrities, politicians, religious leaders, whoever, have been up to shenangians since the dawn of time, it's just that now we are able to *catch them at it. So whehter or not it makes the decisions they make and the leadership they hand down any more or less credible, good, bad, indifferent, than in times past, who is to say, you know? Much easier to hold up someone in the past as a "great leader" when we don't really know too many details of their personal life since they were able to hide those details than someone now who can't fart sidewise without someone having photograhped or chronicled or sold the story to.

Well, Bill naked could kill anyone's interest in sex. I'm just sayin' ..
We are having the pot roast for dinner tonight. It's in the oven and it smells *stupid good. Cut onions in half and browned/seared those little suckers in olive oil,then removed. Seared the roast, took it out and deglazed (ha, fancy term) the dutch oven with some red wine and beef broth. Threw it all back in, some onions on the bottom, some on top with some more beef broth, some more red wine, a spash or so of soy sauce, lots of kosher salt, fresh pepper, and thyme. We shall see ... no potatoes in the roast. If everyone wants them, I will make some mashed taters, otherwise, we will, per the kids' request, just shred the roast up for french dips.
My hubs did brats on the grill marinated in my corn relish. Potatoes with spices and red wine vinegar, and broccoli. For dessert we are having biscuits with peach and blueberry pie filling from the freezer from last years canning. Yum. Great dinner. Best thing about it? I don't have to do much. Just make the biscuits and 'decorate' the potatoes.
Bill was hot. I met an intern who worked in the White House for Bill during the whole mess, and she said that his sexual "aura," for want of a better word, was electric. He would walk into a room and the atmosphere would change and her arms hairs would rise.
I'm going to shut up now, before our beloved conservative Daisies start puking. :-X

I humbly disagree - a person's charactar carries into every part of their lives. If they can't be trusted - they can't be trusted. I think we should be able to trust our politicians.
As for Monica Blowinsky - it was a gap dress with the presidential "seal" on it and her mother kept it for her - eww. I wonder when it's going to be put in the Smithsonian.

We are down to the bare bones in the freezer because we are waiting for our cow to get done and need space, so we threw together the very last stuff in our freezer. I am not sure what I am going to do tomorrow. I think my husband might be eating frozen raviolis and chewing on some raw carrots. :D I guess he could eat a jar of canned tomatoes if he gets really desperate. :)

I have to tell you... Bill-induced vomiting is the worst. It's not all about being conservative and my inability to stand Clintons. He just does not do anything for me on any level for looks. ::shudders violently::
