Happy National Frozen Food Day!

Oh, whatever, the picture sucks...we all get the idea.  So, what's your favorite frozen food guilty pleasure?

Goodnight, all...and I like frozen Mexican TV dinners. So nostalgic. :-)

Nilia said...

Oh my gosh, THAT brings back memories! What were they called, Swanson dinners? That side of veggies was disgusting. Ditto for the apple "pie". The chicken and mashed taters weren't bad. Do you suppose those things were as bad back then (salt, fat) as they are now?

Shannon - LOL! Stamina she has and my hat does go off to her for that and for those she has helped. But damn...Shannon, you and I have more in common than you know!

AP - A perfect new post! Nite! Mine is Marie Callendar's Chicken Fettuccine with Broccili - great for work since I never get down to the cafeteria.

Shannon said...

Kay I just found one person that I am pretty sure I was separated from at birth....are you the third? LOL

I do not really like frozen dinners so can I choose Ice Cream?

KaytieJ said...

Shannon - Did you not know you have Triplets in your ancestry? If not, SURPRISE ;-D

Shannon said...

LOL it is pretty damn cool

Oh and my favourite frozen food treat are Jamaican beef paties, spice-ay!

And with that, I'm off, goodnight!

Shannon said...

I think I am going to head out for the night....it isnt late or anything but I have this hunky hubby next to me, this adorabull laying on the bed and a banana cream pie and they all need my attention :)

Good morning Taiya, Kristin & Sandy!

It's going - I'm tired, didn't sleep well. LM was a stinker this morning.

How are you? and everyone else?

Looks like we are in for a doozy of a thunderstorm in a few. Of course the kids are getting ready to leave for school. Hoping it blows through fast.

kristin said...

I heard that Sandy - be careful!

and {{{HUGS}}}

Taiya - Moo-ville - that sounds fun. LM would love something like that.

animals, dirt - and he is a happy boy! For some odd reason he really liked the turkey at the petting zoo on Saturday.

Anonymous said...

Thanks Kristin...I love thunderstorms. Kids not so much. I'm hoping we don't lose power because I have tons of laundry to check up on.

Had a meet and greet last night with the new principal. Not sure about her.

T@iy@ said...

http://www.moo-ville.com/

MOO-ville is great! They have a petting zoo, a giant sand pit for kids, a play thing for kids. They have animal feed you can buy to fee the petting zoo animals. Plus they are a creamery so they make their own ice cream and something called Cream Line milk that has the cream on top. It is amazing! The ice cream is amazingly creamy and so different from store bought. My daughter is all about farm animals and dirt. She was so so excited about the cow, it was hilarious!

T@iy@ said...

Sandy- hope the new principal turns out to be great for you and C!

Anonymous said...

She can be any worse than who the rumored principal was going to be. It just strikes me odd and I don't want to offend anyone. Her first "career in life" was a radiology tech. She did that for 15 years prior to education. Makes me nervous.

T@iy@ said...

Hmmm.. maybe she will better for not having been in the politics of the school system her whole career...

can/can't I haven't had enough coffee yet!

T@iy@ said...

Ditto what Kristin said.

I am not sure that there would be enough caffeine in the world to wake me up today, even if I could drink it in excessive amounts.

Someone want to send some energy my way? Or a babysitter so I can nap? ha

T@iy@ said...

Kristin- how did everyone like their LM-decorated pots and flowers?

T@iy@ said...

Okay- I am going to go lay down and put a movie on for DD. I can barely keep my eyes open. BBL

kristin said...

Taiya - they liked them, especially my grandma!

Anonymous said...

Taiya- I'm sending energy your way - I have tons of it today so I can share :)

Sandy - I hope the new principal is a skilled one :)

Beautiful day here. I'm being lazy, per usual. There's nothing like being highly unproductive on a sunny day :D
I did go grocery shopping this morning, though.

Anonymous said...

I found out part of the reason that our old principal was canned. She wasn't following the ciricullum (sp?). I'm sure there were many other complaints along the way that contributed.

I need more than ever to find a school for Caitlyn when she transitions to the Middle School. My information comes from a staffer too. The teachers and principal have no control over the school.

Anonymous said...

Sandy - There must have been other complaints, you are right. I know that not following the curriculum is a serious enough "mistake" but I assume that if it were the only reason, the principal would have been forced to implement the appropriate curriculum and not be fired right away.

Either way, I hope the change of principal will be positive for C! :)

Morning everybody! I loved catching up with all the comments this morning! Not that it’s your job to entertain me, but thanks for entertaining me! :-) It was like “old” times!

FT said: “you can't be my sponsor since you keep falling off the wagon, but maybe somebody else can?” I didn’t say I technically fall off the wagon, I really haven’t read at Mck’s SITE in over a month. Just read MWOP, voraciously. It’s all about how you define sobriety.

Margaret said: “SW - Lindsay and I used to call mwop methadone :)” You and Lindsay are geniuses!

Bella, it’s so cool that you go to White Sox games! I bet living in a big city is fun.

Margaret said: “I was just wondering what it would be like if AP and SW booked an engagement photo shoot with JM.” Holy.Crap. How awesome would that be? I’m totally going to e-mail her and see if she has a problem shooting lesbian couples! Or I would, if I weren’t banned from all access to her.

Mulie said: “I have a special kind of lazy, pregnant or not.” I’ve never been pregnant, but am definitely a special kind of lazy. Lord have mercy I’m lazy. My Christmas decorations are all still piled in the guest room where my housekeeper put them months ago after she couldn’t stand that I didn’t take them down. Now I want a tee shirt with “Special Kind of Lazy” on it.

Re Mexican dinners, I agree with Kaytie that Marie Callender’s is the best. My current favorite is the spaghetti. I generally keep one in the work freezer for when I don’t go out to lunch. I go out for lunch probably half the time, on average.

Kristin, what game did you go to yesterday. I’m sure I should know, and I’m sorry that I don’t.

Sandy, I hope the new principal turns out to be better. Keep us posted.

Hi Corinne!

I watched a Letterman rerun last night and Jack Hannah was on with animals. It was hilarious! There was an owl monkey that made me miss Sue. The monkey was adorable. I like reading Sue's posts on MWOP and still hold out hope that she'll check in here some day.

Robin in Montana said...

Good morning, everyone!

I wish Sue would come over here, too. I've asked that hooker to get her ass over here! (And Rhys!)

Corinne - I tried to tell you the other day, but blogger kept kicking me off, about another band -- try Reckless Kelly.

Sandy - I *love thunderstorms. I'm thinking with this house being out on the kind of high prairie we're going to get some amazing thunder and lightning storms this summer. My kids love those storms, but Kelly's older daughter is just paralyzed by storms - she is so, so scared and just totally frozen.

SW - Maybe you should become JW, then you wouldn't have to have Xmas decorations that you don't want to deal with! ::cackle::

kristin said...

Oh RiM - I have to tell you a JW story that my sister told at Easter -f'in hysterical!

Remind me - I need to do some work :0

Lisa said...

Hi all.

Nothing new here, just reading along.

Anyone want a lazy as hell, attitude-y 18 year old?

Robin in Montana said...

Kristin- I will remind you!

AP - I am going to pass on the 18yo.

Anyone watch that Duke/Butler game last night? Holy shizzle sticks!

Margo said...

I think Julie Childs developed the first TV dinner. They were a treat in our house, pressed turkey over stuffing with gravy watching Animal Kingdom on our black and white Zenith.

My allergies have sidelined me to the point of staying inside with the air on. Looking out the window I can actually see the green stuff floating around - GROSS!

T@iy@ said...

Does the 18 yo do manual labor? :) I will put up with attitude for some of that. Otherwise I think I'll pass.

Anonymous said...

Hi AP & RiM!

RiM- I love that band! Thanks for all the recommendations. You have great taste in music ;)

Robin in Montana said...

Margaret - Seeing you just reminded me I have to get my blog giveaway up. I am a slacker extraordinaire.

Robin in Montana said...

Corinne- I'm go glad you like!

Robin in Montana said...

*So glad. Not *go glad.

<---makes note to self to stop drinking in the morning.

Margo said...

RiM - no worries. Which one did you decide to keep?

I'm reading 25 were killed in a mine explosion in W Va - so sad. I know a guy who grew up in one of those towns. He said growing up they would blow a whistle when something bad happened and the families would gather at the mine to find out whose husband/father didn't come out.

Margo said...

Maybe we should do a kid swap - most kids behave better for others than they do for their own parents :)

Robin in Montana said...

I saw that about the mine, too. Horrible.

I am still dithering on which one to keep. I lean towards the geisha girl, but I love the colors in the other one. I am a ditherer.

Shannon said...

AP I will take your 18yo boy and trad you a 15yo girl with the same issues...then you will see the true meaning of does nothing and lazy

Oh, I need to tell you about my creepy encounter at the grocery store this morning.

I was trying to decide what shower gel I was going to buy (usually takes a looooong time - like 20 min. - because I'm slightly OCD and I need a smell that won't interfere with the smell of my body lotion. I know :P)

Anyways.

This guy passes by and stops right next to me. Then, he proceeds to say 'You smell great. What scent are you wearing?'. I am polite so I answered but trust me, the shower gel picking process suddenly got super short; I picked the first one I could find. And, I don't think I'm going to wear that fragrance ever again, which is a shame because I love it.

My sister was there and she thought it was hilarious because she always told me that the perfumes I wear are so strong, even a person born without an olfactive nerve would be able to smell them.

Whatever. ::eyeroll:: :D

Shannon said...

HAHAHA that is funny.....creepy but funny.

Anonymous said...

Lol, Shannon. There are weird people out there ;-)

Lisa said...

Corinne, what did you pick? Inquiring minds need to know. I just took a shower and am not satisfied with the one I used. Don't let some creep change your mind about something you love...it was still a compliment, even if it was creepy. Actually, now I'm really nosy - does anyone have a favorite perfume? Or at least a current one? I'm still pretty stuck on Bijan Nude most days but with weather getting hotter I'll be going back to my old summer standby, JLo's Miami Glow. Unless I find something better. :-)

Shannon, I'll trade teens with you. At least we'd each have a new face to glare at.

Shannon said...

Oh yes we would AP....I get tired of walking by her bedroom or her mom's room as she lays there reading her book or being her mom's favorite while I am cleaning the kitchen and my daughter is cooking dinner.

I dont wear perfume because I got to develop a delightful allergy to scents a few years ago and I am afraid to even try to find one that I can wear and still breath with it on.

Lisa said...

The mine thing breaks my heart. :-( I was born in a coal-mining town and come from a mining family. My dad lost two of his best friends in an explosion (25 were killed), which is why he refused to ever work the mines after the war. It just makes me so sad for these families.

kristin said...

It is horrible - I read that the mine has a poor safety record - this jjust popped up on The Huffington Post:

MINE DISASTER SITE HAD 57 SAFETY VIOLATIONS LAST MONTH

kristin said...

I feel horrible for that town and the families.

Lisa said...

Shannon, that's just not right, being allergic to perfume. Is there no fairness in this world?

kristin said...

I don't normally wear perfume - only when I'm going out.

Lisa said...

Well, what kind do you were then, Kristin? I tell you, Corinne needs to know.

kristin said...

right now I have ralph - which my sis bought me a few years ago :)

Shannon said...

I know AP but I blame my mother for it. She gave me migraines, bursitis, occasional potty issues, and perfume allergies. I keep trying to tell her that I really like money and if she wants to give me something to remember her by money is much preferred over all this other crap.

I used to LOVE perfume and found myself always attracted to the lighter girly scents like vanilla and such things.

Shannon said...

And the mine disaster. Yea I have to say that it really upsets me that these mining companies manage to slip out of the rules by either paying off the fines for problems or simply ignoring them. Dont they get that it is better to fix the problems as opposed to spending the millions when the disaster that is imminent finally hits?

Lisa said...

Shannon, you did get the shit end of the stick, didn't you? Kristin, I'm thinking Robin wears Ralph, too. Someone I know does.

kristin said...

and I hate to shop, so it is not often that I am at a place that has a fragrance counter, nor do I like to sit there and smell. I will with body soap - and tend towards the tropical - coconut smells.

Shannon said...

Yes I did AP and let me tell ya I want to give it back most days as well :)

Shannon said...

Yesterday was pretty cool for me...totally OT. I went to the bank to see about starting an account, I havent had one for years because of my credit issues. Well this last year I have been working on taking care of that stuff and it was really nice to see the difference it has made. The last time I checked my credit score, about 4 years ago, I had a horrendous CS....365. Well as of yesterday I found out it has gone up over 200 points just from paying on things I had tried to ignore for so long. I am now the proud owner of a 588 and by the end of the summer it should be even better.

Yea it still isnt great but it sure is nice to actually see that what I am doing is working.

Lisa said...

Shannon, I think that's terrific that you're working on doing that. Really admirable, in fact. I'm glad you actually got to see some results for it!

kristin said...

Okay - advice - remember how I said my grandpa had cancer - well they had to take him off of blood thinners before performing surgery. After looking at the CT scan - they found the cancer is surrounding the carotid, therefore cannot biopsy it with a larger needle.

They did an open biopsy today. My aunt wasn't given a lot of details but he is out of surgery - they were going to try to remove the tumor if possible today but b/c of placement, it was uncertain.

The results won't be back until Wednesday and will determine treatment then. There is a chance that this cancer is anaplastic - which is untreatable, in which case the doctors give him 6 - 8 months.

My mom is NOT fond of the man at all and my middle sister kind of follows in her footsteps but I think they should know. I also know that the middle sister will be pissed if she knows I know and didn't tell her.

Do you think I should let them know?

kristin said...

Very cool Shannon!

High five to you!

Robin in Montana said...

Shannon -- That's awesome about your credit. :)

Perfume. I've worn some of the different Ralph's. I love the original Ed Hardy. I also love Miami Glow, thanks to Lisa and the place she turned me on to for shower gel/lotion (Corinne - you would probably love that place. Pittsburgh Street Soapworks.) Right now I've taken over a bottle of Kelly's Clinique Happy for men. I don't like the women's version, but I love that one.

Shannon said...

Honestly Kristin, they need to know. What if things take a worse turn? I do not get along with my father at all but I would hope that if something like this were going on someone would let me know. I dont know that I would do much with the knowledge but I would want to know what was going on.

Robin in Montana said...

Kristin - I would tell them. Just be very matter of fact and acknowledging that they don't have a good relationship with him, but that you thought they might want to know. I'm sorry- that family stuff is tough.

kristin said...

i e-mailed my aunt and told her I was thinking of telling them, I will see what her thoughts are and then let them know.

Shannon said...

Thanks guys about the credit woohoo. It has taken me a long time to realize that doing something, even if it is something little is better than just ignoring it.

I am going into one of the courts today to see about doing community service to help pay my fines down faster and then tomorrow morning I am going to another to do the same thing.

How freaking sad is it that aside from student loans the biggest hits on my credit are tickets from my years of illegal driving? GOD I was really dumb for a long time.

Anonymous said...

AP - The shower gel is Dove cucumber & green tea. I really like it.

As for perfumes, in the Winter/Fall I wear heavier scents and lighter in the Summer/Spring. Usually, my go to Summer/Spring perfume is 'Light Blue' by Dolce Gabbana.
This Winter I alternated between 'lady vengeance' by Juliette has a gun (it's what I was wearing this morning - I know it's not Winter but I was out of 'light blue')and 'Lola' by Marc Jacobs.
I also really like 'Miss Dior Chérie'.

Robin in Montana said...

Corinne - I wanted to like Light Blue, but it just wasn't me. I also wanted to like Juicy, but while I liked it in the shower gel form, the perfume was not good for me. I've always loved Bath * Body Works shower gel and lotion, but apparently I've developed some sort of dumbass allergy to it -- it makes my shoulders break out within a day or so. So Cami inherited my vast stockpile of that stuff.

Anonymous said...

Shannon - Yay for the credit/bank account thing!

Kristin - I would tell them. It's a very sad situation and I think they might want to know, regardless of their feelings for him.
Your grandpa has thyroid cancer, right?
I'm sorry. (((hugs)))

Anonymous said...

RiM- At first, I thought 'Light Blue' was just meh - too citrus-y but I've really grown to like it. It's very fresh and Summer like, kwim?

Anonymous said...

RiM- Have you ever tried Jo Malone's perfumes? There are really nice ones. I especially like 'Jasmine & Honeysuckle', 'French Lime Blossom' and 'Pomegranate Noir'.

http://www.jomalone.co.uk/

Margo said...

Kristin - Sorry you're having to go through this :( I would tell them and then it's up to them what to do with the information. Cecelia had a niece she didn't get along with but I let her know when C got sick.

My great grandfather was a miner. He came to the US from Hungary, saved up money and sent for my great grandmother. However, when she got to Ellis Island she found out that he had been killed in the mine a week before. I have a soft spot for miners and their families.

No perfume for me - I break out if I put anything on my skin.

Robin in Montana said...

Corinne - I had not heard of them, but thanks for starting a new obssession for me! :-P They look amazing.

Margo said...

My nasty neighbor is spraying round-up on the weeds growing through her driveway cracks. I guess that's easier to deal with than the fact that she's got a toilet, old bed frames and a wheel barrow full of rotting shingles in her side yard :)

kristin said...

Margaret - you should write an editorial piece or something and take pictures of the yard - that might get someone's attention.

So - since looking at those pics of me being fat - I am now really going to do something about it. I'm looking at places to take boxing - I love boxing - and am going to try to *change.

Anyone have creative ways to make chicken - please send them to me :)

Uggghhhh! I'm also going to try the weight watchers thing. I NEED to do something. My knees and hip will thank me.

Robin in Montana said...

Kristin - slosh some soy sauce, some olive oil, some lemon or lime juice, some ginger (fresh grated or powder) some garlic, little bit of salt and pepper, in a bag and marinate chicken breasts for a bit and grill.

Lisa said...

Kristin, you have to tell them. I guess what I'm wondering is, why would you *not?

Corinne, Jo Malone has a sweet lime and cedar that I love, but I can't bring myself to spend for it. Yet. No, not "yet"...ever. I think.

Shannon, I'm afraid to ask but...um...illegal driving?

kristin said...

my aunt just wrote me back and said she would tell them if I wanted her to and include me so all of us were notified together.

As far as not telling them - b/c everyone wrote him off - not exactly sure why but my mom is very bitter - and my grandpa is a grumpy old man. Me and the middle sister really remember him, the youngest sister, not so much. And because my father is such a douche canoe - there really is no tie there. My aunt and my mom bonded and they still talk so that is our only connection with his side of the family.

Gotta love family dynamics.

Robin in Montana said...

Not Shannon, but knowing Oregon's little kicks about driving I'm going to guess Driving While Suspended and/or no insurance?

Shannon said...

Yes AP I was an illegal driver for many many years. Back in the day when I was separated from my now ex I couldnt get insurance. I was trying and trying and trying but because his record was so bad nobody would help me, even though he lived nearly 40 miles away and my record at this point was damned near perfect. Well I got pulled over. I got driving without insurance which led to my license being suspended.

I ignored it. I kept driving for 12 years. Over the course of those 12 years I would get pulled over for stupid shit about every third year...never for speeding or an accident but shit like plate light out. In fact the judge I am going to see tomorrow even commented that I am not a bad driver I am just not a legal driver.

Well this last summer I finally decided to take care of it and got the 1/3 of the fines I had paid off so I could become a legal driver. Well in total my tickets and interest came to about $4000....YES I know that is horrible but that is because each ticket DWS and DWOI is about $500 a piece.

But now I am on my way to having it all gone!!!

Shannon said...

HAHAHA RiM that is awesome that you knew before I even said :)

Anonymous said...

Shannon - It sounds like you are getting a lot of things fixed - it should be a great year for you ::fingers crossed::

AP - I love, love Jo Malone's perfumes. I bought the 'sweet lime & cedar' as a gift for a friend who adores woody scents and that's the only thing she's worn since then.
I would buy Jo Malone perfumes more often but I have to buy them off the internet since I can't seem to find a store that carries that brand in Belgium and that's usually easier for me to go to the store.

Anonymous said...

In case you hadn't noticed, I am totally obsessed with perfumes :P

Margo said...

Kristin - here's are some pics of my neighbors - the white house is mine (nothing special but clean and neat), the big house my neighbors just had built from them (2 people - grown children), the other house is one the fire dept used for practice. When they were done they were supposed to tear it down - it's been a year... It's the wild, wild west on our street. And the only way I'm getting out of here is death or divorce - my hubs grew up in this house and we bought it from his folks. He's not leaving :) www.flickr.com/photos/47709294@N04/

kristin said...

WOW margaret - I'd be making complaints - I know here on one of our news channels - there is a reporter that "looks into" things like this and goes to higher ups when they won't listen to us common folk :)

Wayne Dolcefino is another one that does.

Anywho, my aunt just asked me for e-mail addresses so I guess she is going to e-mail everyone.

Margo said...

Shannon - good for you, you've already seen you can turn it around :)

kristin said...

speaking of clothes - do you guys shop online for clothes - and if so, where?

I despise shopping.

Margo said...

I think I'll make the burned out house my project for the next two weeks. It's dangerous because I know teenagers are "hanging" out in there...

kristin said...

My aunt said he had the surgery - it was papillary cancer and they removed as much as possible. The doctor wants him to remain in florida for radiation treatment but they don't think he will go for that - and will come home to michigan for treatment.

We will see.

She also sent an e-mail to mom and sisters so I will see what the fam has to say.

Margo said...

I'm going to stop by our supervisor's office tomorrow and see what he has to say. If he won't do anything I'm going to take it to the board. Some of the neighbors though it might have been a meth house and they had to burn the holes in it before tearing it down? I don't know anything about that but it's been a year now and it's a danger.

Lisa said...

Oh, Margaret, I'd be pissed. What an eyesore and inexcusable leaving it like that.

And I like your house!

Kristin, I'm glad your aunt took care of it for you and I hope he can recover.

Shannon, I'm just going to point at you periodically and make tsk-ing noises.

Lindsay said...

Hey guys - stopping in to say hello!

Kristin - I am so sorry about your grandpa. I'm glad your aunt is taking care of the emails, though. That has to be a weight off your shoulders. Thanks so much for your kindness the last couple of days :)

And thanks to everyone else who's sent me prayers and positive thoughts. You ladies rock :)

And my fave frozen food indulgence is Grilled Cheese Sandwich things from Schwan's. Ohmygosh. So bad for you, but sooo delish.

Lisa said...

Corinne, you've found a couple of fellow perfume whores with Robin and me. Do check out Pittsburgh Street Soapworks...she makes designer duplicates and they really are dead-on. All of her products are excellent and at a fraction of the price. http://www.pittstreetsoap.com

Lisa said...

LINDSAY!! How are you? It's so good to see you back. :-)

Lindsay said...

Thanks AP! I'm hanging in. I tried to take a "internet hiatus" and it was *hard! I miss you guys so much :) I'll try to be around more.

Good news, though. During said hiatus, I have completely been JM/MWoP free. Wahoo!

Lisa said...

Huh. How did you know you needed a hiatus?

*worries if I'm missing signs*

kristin said...

Hey Linds - no prob! you are my hip sis - gotta take care of my own!

I don't know what the rules are on MWoP about posting links.

Robin in Montana said...

Hi Lindsay! I missed you!

AP, you're not missing any signs. You're just ignoring them, like I do.

Robin in Montana said...

Kristin - I missed it. What's that blog link in reference to?

kristin said...

Oh AP is on MWoP talking about a blog where a lady is asking for money. JM is pimping her out and she is defending JM.

Lisa said...

I found it, Kristin, thanks! I'm just disgusted as hell. That's okay, I was in the mood to be disgusted as hell, which is why I wanted to read. Rhys is right about the feel of it all and you know what really rubbed it in for me? For one, she put up a donate button instead of just asking for help as one friend would do for another. Can you imagine if you needed to ask your friends for help and instead of doing just that, you handed them the bank info for a new account you just set up for this purpose? Me, neither. Ugly, that is. But the other thing is how in following posts she constantly linked back to that post and refers to it, in order to make sure everyone sees it. *shakes head*

Robin in Montana said...

Ah, I see. Well, I entered her giveawy for a free camera. lol.

<--not prideful when it comes to free crap. :-D

kristin said...

I did too RiM - I did too :)

Lindsay said...

AP - Here were my signs (I doubt that any of them pertain to you, so you can continue your addiction in glorious denial :P)

A - I kind of got into an email argument with a certain, self-proclaimed professional mommy-blogger. And realized that it was stupid and wouldn't change the world anyway.

B - I think I am going to become our next PTA president, so I realized I have a lot of things I'm going to need to get in order if I'm going to take on *that kind of responsibility, so I decided to take a rest.

Robin in Montana said...

Well. I for one want to know more about the email argument. :nods::

Lindsay said...

Oh, and I came back because I missed my friends and really needed some love. So there you have it. I'm just going to have to work on balance :)

kristin said...

I would love to know more too Linds - and you know I love you! :) in that odd, non-sexual, sisterly, friend love.

Okay - now I really sound like a weirdo!

How are you doing? How is your friend doing?

Kristin - the menu for tonight is hamburgers and french fries. A boca burger for me. I know I've been slacking on my menu updates of late. ;-D

What's anyone else having?

kristin said...

I was going to do chicken but I don't have any thawed out - so not sure.

I'm thinking frozen pizza :)

and then tomorrow I am going to try to do better.

Lindsay said...

It wasn't a big deal. I just thought I would tell her that by allowing those nasty twitter people to defend her the way they were, she was making herself look bad. She told me she had no control over them, but as luck would have it, those two nasty people deleted their account shortly after our little discussion. But I realized, what kind of idiot am I for engaging her? Pffft. She could care less what I think, right?

K - I love you, too :) My friend is hanging in there. It's been really, really rotten, but I should say that after the initial day where Tesoro treated her like crap, they've really stepped up. As they should. The press have been annoying to say the least, they drive by the house and they are constantly calling. She just wants some peace.

Lisa said...

Sausage dogs with chili and kraut here. Frozen fries. Um. Maybe I'll open a can of baked beans for a real thrill.

Lindsay said...

Oh, and we are doing ok. Travis is taking it really hard, but I'm doing a little better. Just being in her house and with her kids is therapeutic for me. I've been there every day, and thank God every day she tells me to keep coming back.

And roast chicken and home made garlic mashed potatoes for dinner at our house. Weight Watchers is on a hiatus, too. I eat when I'm upset or stressed, so comfort food, here I come!

Lisa said...

Oh, Lindsay, was it Jennifer? She cares about no one but Jennifer.

Lisa said...

Lindsay, I think I missed something huge - what happened with your friend? And if you don't want to say here, I totally understand - just ignore that question.

Lindsay said...

Ding ding ding! AP wins the prize! ::searching frantically for some prize::

Yeah, it was kind of like arguing with a brick wall, no? Clearly I shouldn't have wasted my key strokes. But it sure did help me break my addiction. It just solidified what I already imagined about her and made it easier to move on. Go figure.

Lisa said...

Hey, you needed to do it, then. It was time you got it over with. :-)

kristin said...

Linds - that sucks that they treated her badly in the beginning but am glad that they turned things around.

How are you doing?

That sucks about the press - I'm wondering if Tesoro can issue a statement to say to leave the family's alone or something.

Or if the community and your Daisy family and F'ship family can write to the press hounding them - do the reverse and hound them and tell them to give the family some peace.

I'm sorry.

Lindsay said...

My bff's husband was killed in the refinery explosion on Friday morning. It's been the worst. She is now a widow at 29 and has 2 little kids. They were one of our few friends where the husbands and the wives both get along really well. My hubs was really close to him and she and I are together constantly. I know our loss is nothing compared to hers, but we are really heartbroken right now.

Lindsay said...

I'm super worried about the press turning the funeral into a media circus. If that happens, you might see me on the national news going all crazy on their asses :)

I really want to tell them to leave the family alone, but I think I need her blessing before talking on her behalf. She just says to each one who calls that she isn't going to let her husband's death be their top story for tonight, when they will just forget about him tomorrow. She says he deserves better than that. I agree.

Lisa said...

Oh, Lindsay, I'm so very sorry for you all. How horrible...it just goes to show how everything really can change in just a minute, doesn't it? {{{all of you)))

Robin in Montana said...

OMG, Lindsay, I am so very, very sorry for you, your family, and your friend who lost her husband. So very, very tragic.

Lindsay said...

Thanks AP. I feel so bad for all these miners and their families because it's the same deal. People all over the world head to work thinking it's going to be the same grind day in and day out. And just one day, one thing can go wrong and their lives are changed forever.

Lindsay said...

Thanks Robin.

Sorry to be a downer.

Lindsay said...

Okay, I better go put my chicken in the oven. I promise I'll be around more. I know you guys have missed me :P Ha!

kristin said...

bye linds!

Robin in Montana said...

::pinches Lindsay::: We *have missed you, you goof! Enjoy your shicken. (said in my Puerto-Rican accent borrowed from my ex-SIL)

KaytieJ said...

Linday - That is horrible! I am so, so sorry - for all of you! Yes, you and your husband are going through so much pain and grieving too. Many, many hugs!

Nodding my head with AP's definition of Jen being all about Jen.

Just found out that the accountant that works for the company (contract) is going to be on Who wants to be a millionaire. Interesting.

Margo said...

What is the bliss lady asking for money for? I only got to the part where she's having a give-away and you can earn extra entries but donating money...

KaytieJ said...

Margaret - to "Get caught up" financially. That was the fast scroll take.

Kristin - Good luck to the Accountant!

kristin said...

I want to get caught up financially - if I put a donate button on my blog - will you guys donate?

lol

I'm not sure if you guys remember me saying an old co-worker/friend of mine had died in the line of duty - I worked with him and was close to him until I left the company - anywho - his killer was found guilty - here is the news story:

Margo said...

That's terrible Kristin - senseless violence.

kristin said...

It is - and he was a good guy! :(

alright - I'm out!

*see ya in a few!

Margo said...

Our friend's sister killed their mother 2 years ago - the trial was a few months ago. I don't know how anyone can sit through a trial like that and hear in graphic details how their loved one died. Just terrible!

Angie said...

Kristin, I recorded that Oprah just so I could see the Old Spice Guy. I was tickled about him getting the movie role! He was thrilled and it was very cute.

Angie said...

Lindsay, I'm so sorry about your friend who died. Poor wife and kids.

T@iy@ said...

Good afternoon. I just read everything and caught up, but for the life of me didn't retain much.

Umm.. let's see. What did I read?

Hi Lindsay!

So sad about the miners. I hate hearing stuff like that, especially when it could be avoided.

Perfume? Rarely wear it. I am too cheap! I have adidas and Curve from when I was about 18. (umm. 8 years ago) Otherwise I am too cheap to buy them because if they are more than $20 I always think it is just going to make me smell better for a bit and fade away. I also balked at spending FIFTY dollars on maternity capris today since I only have 7 weeks left. Darn am I cheap when it comes to spending money on me. I had no problem dropping $30 on some shoes for Ryla, though. Go figure.

Margo said...

I'm cheap like that too Taiya :)

Lisa said...

That FFC sandwich looks good, I'm ashamed to admit. Hey, are KFCs going out of business around y'all? We've lost 3 just in my immediate area, plus our Checkers shut down.

Kristin, I won't donate to you, either. :-P
It appears this woman just made some piss-poor decisions and then plunged her head in the sand, hoping they went away. And now, she's asking for donations to help her out of it so she's not so stressed. Whatthefuckever. No patience, no sympathy.

kristin said...

I was so kidding AP!

I think I'm doing pretty good, all things considered.

My first 3 years (well extended to a lot more b/c I went every other semester, etc) of school is PAID for b/c I had no clue what the hell financial aid was.

I argued on the way home with little man that worm did not start with "s" - now he is acting like a seal and he is barking at me.

AWESOME!

Margo said...

Someone needs to come up with a button for the AP/SW photoshoot fund.

Nilia said...

Sandy: before getting into teaching, I was also in diagnostic imaging, only it was ultrasound. I was not a sonographer, I worked in Sales and Marketing for Philips Electronics. I appreciate that I have a different perspective and gratitude also to be in the field I'm in. I never take for granted an almost recession-proof job, a union, and basic independence on how my day rolls. Also there's a customer service aspect in the private sector that I appreciate, maybe she'll have that people-touch quality? Maybe she'll be just what you and C need? I hope.... ::fingers crossed::

A perfume which smells *really good on me and is not very pricey is Red Door, I get tonnes of compliments and it is my day to day perfume. Otherwise, Boucheron which also mixes really well with my skin oils or whatever it is that happens when the same perfume smells different on different people.

My body wash right now is pomegranite and I really like vanilla scents, I also choose my scents carefully because that's just 15 minutes of "me" time and smells are so important to relax...

I heard about that mine disaster this morning.
:0( So sad for the families. Not as simple as "well they shouldn't work there". Some miners have it in their blood (family history like) or just need the work. I was so happy the mine disaster in China had a happy turnout, I thought surely this one could do. So sad...

Lisa said...

Lol, Margaret, I'm damn tempted!

And Kristin, I knew you were joking. :-)
Rumor just posted on MWoP is that they might get a reality show. Interesting...

KaytieJ said...

I am pathetic when it comes to scents. Irish Spring soap. Axe deodorant. Tag spray. When I remember to wear perfume, it is Dior's Dolce Vita that DH splurged on for me...ummmm 4 years ago.

KaytieJ said...

Margaret - LMAO at your donate button for AP/SW photoshoot! Good one!

KaytieJ said...

JM and IM are getting a reality show? :::thud:::

kristin said...

<-------- picking kaytie up off the floor!

you okay?

Margo said...

I think they would be worth a wife swap but not a whole show. And, they might as well pick their divorce attorneys now (naturally JM will pick RV's for him).

Nilia said...

Shannon: that sounds like an uphill battle. Good for you to work so hard to repair your credit. Maybe when you're done you could mentor MckM?

Kristin: I am *so sorry to hear about your grandfather. And the extra family-drama situation isn't helpful. Whatever the issue was, perhaps they'll part with him on good terms, if not for his benefit for their own, you know?

Margo said...

I'd really love an AP cruise but I'll settle for a photoshoot. I'm not sure I could run with the big dogs on the cruise anyway - I go to bed at 9 and don't drink.

kristin said...

Thanks FT - not sure if my mom will reconcile with him but maybe my sisters.

KaytieJ said...

Wife swap show for JM/IM...now THAT would be interesting (evil grin)

Nilia said...

Oh Lindsay, I was on your blog and did read what happened to your friend. I chickened out on commenting at the time because I was so shocked at the news, and meant to go back later and post some comforting words. I just didn't know what to say, I am so so sorry. You and your family must be suffering. If I lived close to you I would have contributed to the dinners. Can I do anything else?

Anonymous said...

Dear God in Heaven, another earthquake...7.8 in Indonesia!

Nilia said...

Oh and dinner, not sure what it's called but it's chick peas, rice, and chourizo. A little soup-like but not very watery.

Margo said...

FT - are you:

a. French
b. Teach French
c. French and teach french
d. Too personal a question

Margo said...

Yikes - I just saw Kate Gosslin on access hollywood and she looks like a whore!

Nilia said...

Margaret: Not too personal! I am Canadian-born, Portuguese descent. I teach French.

Nilia said...

Every once in a while I check how many views my "blog" has. Really there is no blog, it was just set up to make me legitimate with a name and everything!

Anyway, I'm over 600+. I must be fascinating.

Lindsay said...

FT - Thank you so much for offering. We're doing okay right now :) I don't blame you for not commenting - it is shocking, isn't it. Within 24 hours of posting the meal calendar, every day in the month of April was covered. And some by people who don't even know them personally. Amazing. Oh, and I was looking back and Shortround in bunny ears is a delight to see. I literally could nibble on those cheeks - but not in a creepy way, I promise!

And hi Taiya and Kaytie and SW:) Thanks for the warm welcome!

M - This might sound mean, but I have never, ever liked Kate Gosselin. And I still don't.

Okay, off to football practice. Getting back into the normal routine is good. I'll check in tomorrow.

Night night!

kristin said...

night Lindsay - good for you for trying for normal!

Take care!

KaytieJ said...

Margaret - Finally got to your Flicker page. I really like your house and the snowgirls pic is adorable! I sure hope they get rid of that *fire house!

T@iy@ said...

Hey! Back for the day, feet are up, kitchen is clean. I'm just ignoring the fact that every. single. other. room. except for the kitchen is messy and I have laundry piled on the floor to be folded and put away, and laundry to wash. I really want to clean (nesting still), but I need to spend some time with my hubs since I was gone until 8 last night and he didn't get home until 7:30 tonight.

Umm... yet again I can't remember what I read. Guess I'll go back and skim again.

KaytieJ said...

Kristin - That is so very sad about your friend. That poor family.

And I am sorry to hear about your grandpa

Margo said...

Thanks KaytieJ - I'm starting my fire house demolition campaign tomorrow :)

KaytieJ said...

Margaret - Good luck and let us know!

T@iy@ said...

Soooo... anything exciting happen to anyone today? I am finally awake enough to stay up, have semi-enough brain power to make some minimal contribution to conversation.. and *tonight everyone is gone! ha :D

kristin said...

I'm here - screwing around on FV.

Nothing exciting here really.

T@iy@ said...

I caught up on my FV, too. Turned in a bunch of eggs for junk. Do you know what the point of the Double Avatar Size prize is?
