A dedication...

...to someone here who shall remain nameless since we're not private now.  To those who don't know, sorry, but I won't tell.   It's just that every time I've heard this song, I think of her and then I want a burrito.  :-D

Dear Nameless Person,
I know you are busy but when you're gone a lot, it's just not the same around here.  It's not as funny and not as much fun.  :-P

I hope you feel guilty now.

Love,
The Doorman

Damn, AP, I was afraid to open that last post! Thank goodness Jill is such a smart cookie, I thought I was on a roll offending blog moderators, you know?

Back to catching up!

Jill's a stinker - she caught it immediately. ;-)

Alright, I'm out of here for the night. Sleep well, FT and all.

Goodnight, AP, I came late to the party and now have to leave too. My oldest's birthday tomorrow and he lost another molar today! We'll see Shortround on Saturday and Sunday = family on mom's side with Easter Egg hunt and more Shortround! I hope everyone has a great Easter (long) weekend!

Nilia said...

Ooh, before I go: Taiya: YES, Shortround did get a name! When he was exactly 4 weeks old. I hope nobody’s offended that I don’t put the name on here. I love the name and it wasn’t even on the consideration list as far as I knew!

We've been well here! Just running my fool head off. But I try to read once a day, even if I am not posting. I'm so glad you all are here, because you give me a laugh even when nothing else does. :)

Morning all!

Weird dream last night/morning.

Something about dropping an engine in a car and trying to put my hair in big buns (Princess Leia (sp like) and something else equally as weird but now can't remember. Odd!

Karen - glad your mom is enjoying her place and that Patti and her get along.

morning BD!

Okay - off to get ready!

Happy Friday all! Happy Good Friday to the Christians! Special hi to Jill! It's good to see you and thanks for figuring out the April Fool's joke when you did.

AP said last night: "I'm not watching AI, SW...first time ever but last year just bored me to death so I didn't even bother this year." How on earth could the season of Adam Lambert be boring? He was probably the most interesting AI contestant ever!

I loved PR last night so much! Seeing Anthony back was a thrill. I love him, and he's from Alabama, dontcha know? Loved his dress. Loved everything about PR.

Also loved loved Survivor! Who watched it and agrees with me? Best. Season. Ever.

kristin said...

I watched SW - and was sad by who left - you?

Angie said...

Well, Kristin, I'm crazy about the person who left. But I am kind of in awe of the ability of the person who ousted him, and really didn't think he could pull it off, so I had to enjoy the outcome.

Angie said...

Hey Jill, how many work days left? Are you excited?

Angie said...

It's going to be hard to work today. Beautiful sunny day, lots of people taking off. Must. Focus.

kristin said...

Oh - and LM was great to get to bed last night - no problems - never came out of his room :)

Got up this morning just fine - and then turned into a monster - he cried and whined all the way to school.

Conclusion - monster at night = great kid in the morning.

Great kid at night = monster in the morning.

Not sure which one I like more.

Taiya - spiders don't bother me.

Angie said...

Spiders don't bother me either. I'm really only afraid of cockroaches. Those send me climbing on furniture and screaming like a girl.

kristin said...

I don't like roaches and will scream if one comes flying at me - we have flying cockroaches here in Texas - but for the most part - they just gross me out - especially when I have to squish them.

T@iy@ said...

Angie said...

I can't squish cockroaches. It's just not in me. Too freaking gross. I can only kill them by spraying them with pesticide, and then they try and attack me in their death throes.

Flying cockroaches are Satan's minions. (Or would be, if Satan existed.)

kristin said...

oddly - I haven't seen many roaches in or around this new house (well not really new) and my back fence backs up to a bunch o' trees - and roaches are supposed to be tree roaches - so I am glad I haven't encountered them.

Morning all!
Taiya -
I just remember a tightening and uncomfortable feeling. Here is a sight for info on it.
http://pregnancy.about.com/cs/laborbasics/a/bhctx.htm

Angie said...

Hi CK!

I had a friend who moved to Alabama from Idaho, where she'd lived all her life. She'd never seen a cockroach, and was horrified by them (as we all are). But she'd also never seen a firefly (or lightning bug, as we call them down here). She had read about fireflies, but she thought they were fictional, like unicorns and fairies. She was mesmerized by them.

Ya gotta deal with cockroaches in order to get fireflies.

PJ said...

Taiya,
When I had them my tummy just seemed to tighten up across - they didn't feel deep like a labor contraction.

Angie said...

CK, Didi Benami. I liked her a lot, and was sad to see her go.

PJ said...

SW - that's a metaphor for life....

PJ said...

Who else was lowest?

PJ said...

Did Crystal impress again?

KaytieJ said...

Cold rain and windy here - got soaked getting the eggs for work tonight. Good weather to take a nap to get ready for work tonight, though. Hope everyone has a good weekend!

T@iy@ said...

We have fireflies, but no cockroaches. :)

Thanks for Braxton Hicks info. Must just be baby kicking me in a very bad spot.

Anonymous said...

Good Morning Ladies!

Taiya, your stomach tightens rock hard, no pain and it's uncomfortable for a minute or less.

kristin said...

You too Kaytie - and I sent you an e-mail!

twirldawg said...

SW the kids have 30 days after today left, I have 32. I def. have spring fever. How are you?

T@iy@ said...

*sigh* My child needs a name. I am a slacker.

Angie said...

"We have fireflies, but no cockroaches. :)" Thanks for ruining it for me, Taiya! ;-)

kristin said...

Never had contractions - had a scheduled C-Section.

Although I do find it highly amusing, when I went in, they hooked me up to a monitor - looked at it and asked me if I felt any pain. I guess I was starting to have contractions and had no clue - glad that I was scheduled when I was.

KaytieJ said...

Oh..that reminds me...FT - congrats on Shortround getting a name! I still like the name Shortround, though :-D Have fun with him this weekend.

Kristin - I'll go check it out! Thanks in advance.

kristin said...

Nothing exciting Kaytie - just responding to your e-mail from awhile ago.

:)

I think I am going to get some terra cota pots and some paint and have LM decorate them for my 2 sisters, mom and grandma and then put some flowers in them. I think that will be fun (if we have time and he is in a good mood). Ha!

I think I am going to get some sponges or similar to dip paint in to make designs.

I just wish he wasn't so damn defiant b/c this could get messy.

hmmm....I think I need an old sheet - I think I'm going to do this project outside.

I'm with you SW - I have no motivation today.

T@iy@ said...

Sorry SW. One of the many reasons I love S.W. MIchigan. We have lots of cool stuff, but minimal bad stuff. Except that Jennifer Granholm is our governor, and I guess that is colossal on the bad stuff list.

T@iy@ said...

Motivation? What is the meaning of this word?

I think it is probably something like, 'What Taiya completely lacks on a semi-regular basis.'

kristin said...

Where are you again Taiya?

I am thinking and really want to come up to my mom's lake house this summer in Michigan. There place is in Stanton.

Anonymous said...

Kristin - I love hearing about all the things you do with LM :) You two are a cute pair!

kristin said...

Thanks Kaytie! He really is a sweet boy - if you check out my blog - there are 2 videos on there that crack me up :)

He is funny and imaginitive - he made "suit" today - aka soup - in the sink with his toothbrush, toothpaste, my headband, and a wash cloth. I forgot what kind of suit it was - he told me - but I forgot.

He also likes to make pies (using pillows), especially macaroni pies...yeah, no clue.

oh and Taiya - no I have not seen star wars in quite awhile...years.

PJ said...

Thanks SW.

We have fireflies in Minnesota too.

Reading about Libertarianism. There are many forms.

And it goes beyond politics. The term libertarian in a metaphysical or philosophical sense was first used by late-Enlightenment free-thinkers to refer to those who believed in free will, as opposed to determinism.

Corinne - I asked hubs and the Bilderberg show was on TruTV on a show Jesse Ventura has. Jesse Ventura was a wrestler, then governor (I think) now he has a show about conspiracy theories.

Thanks SW - I'm a peeps freak!

Anonymous said...

OMG, LM is so funny telling his story and flapping his wings! How's his brother the farmer?

PJ said...

Ventura is a kook. An embarrassment to the intelligent people from Minnesota.

PJ said...

Gotta go to work for a few hours. Bye!

Anonymous said...

Did you know that Washington DC was built by the Masons and that a majority of our elected officials are part of that secret society.

Anonymous said...

I don't know much about him - just that he was a wrestler then governor... We had a kook mayor in DC, got caught smoking crack with a hooker in a motel, served jail time and then they re-elected him...

Angie said...

Kristin - Love the terra cotta pots idea. They have those little birdhouses at craft stores, too, that are fun to paint. You can stick stickers on them (or the pots),too, and then put clear finish over them.

Anonymous said...

Margaret - Thanks :)

I have no idea who this Ventura guy is - well, aside from what you're telling me- but I don't think CK likes him much based on her comment ;)

The best book I've read on the Bilderberg group so far is called 'Rencontres au sommet'. It was written by the only journalist who was ever able to interview some participants to these meetings. It was truly fascinating. I don't know if there's an English translation but if there is, it's a must read. (author is Michael Gama).

OT- I need your help.
I've become bored with teh songs on my ipod and I'm thinking of buying some new ones on itunes, except I don't know what to buy.
Any suggestions?

I love most musical genres, except for rap music. And, I think Jay-z's version of 'Forever young' is a crime against music lovers ;)

Robin in Montana said...

Robin in Montana said...

David Gray? Regina Spektor?

RiM- I think you have ;)
I have 'Five days in May' (amazing song, btw). What other songs of theirs would you recommend?

How's life in the new house?

Anonymous said...

David Gray is awesome. I listen to him a lot before falling asleep - I love his voice.

Robin in Montana said...

Corinne - Bad Timing, Rain Down on Me, Trust Yourself, Hasn't Hit Me Yet ... etc., etc. :-D

Also, just look up Jim Cuddy on his own on Youtube and listen to some of his stuff. They just have the best lyrics.

Hi, Jill! I'm glad to see you need to make this a habit!

SW, please don't hate me, but I don't like Adam Lambert. He's too...cliche, I guess is the best word, for my taste. But I am *so happy Anthony is back on PR! I didn't care for his dress but it doesn't matter because he's just so darn cute.

CK, are you thinking of converting to Libertarianism? ;-)

Anonymous said...

RiM- Thanks! I don't know Wilco but I'm going to look :)

Lisa said...

I haven't seen fireflies here in Florida since I was a kid. I miss them. Those damn flying roaches, though. They're really palmetto bugs but if it looks like a roach, it's a roach. They will chase you and dive bomb you. Hate those mothers.

Hiya, Kasey - it's good to see you back.

Ahhh, I wish some of the old crew from OHIH and SIP would join us, too. I miss them. Gosh...Megan, EM, Rhys, Deb's been scarce, Cheryl. Nic hasn't been around lately, nor has Nikki. And lord knows wish Sue would pop in.

Robin in Montana said...

Corinne - Wilco: I Am Trying to Break Your Heart. Sky Blue Sky. You and I. (look for the one with Feist that they did on David Letterman). You Are My Face.

Robin in Montana said...

Oh, Corinne - I don't know how much country you like, but that newish Toby Keith song, Cryin' For Me. Slays me, every single time. I love the music, the lyrics, the message, all of it.

Angie said...

Toby Keith? "FUTK" is all Natalie Maines and I have to say about him. Hmph.

AP said: "SW, please don't hate me, but I don't like Adam Lambert." AP, if I were going to hate you for anything, it would be your political views, which are far more troubling that your dislike of Adam Lambert.

Angie said...

So I'm back from a late lunch at G's Country Kitchen. Fantastic meat and three place, where I had meatloaf, and (I kid you not) fried okra, fried corn, and fried green tomatoes. A trifecta of artery-clogging friedness, and yet it made me unreasonably happy.

Can I just say how much I hate the U.S. Copyright Office? Everything they do is poorly done. It's ridiculously hard to file a copyright application electronically -- a task that shouldn't even require a lawyer. And I've now been on hold with them on the phone for what seems like forever. I'm googling "Copyright Office Sucks" and not finding any other people who agree with me, though there MUST be. I think I should start a Copyright Office Without Pity blog, and let 'er rip!

Hello again. It's Spring Break so I have more time to play on the computer :)

I miss some of y'all, and don't know others. Hope to catch up for real soon.

Lisa said...

FT, I took a guess that it was JM you were referring to and I must say, that's the most ignorant thing I've ever read. Well, maybe not ever but in a long time. That's not even remotely a decent analogy for Socialism and those deli ladies don't give a rat's ass if she buys all the chicken or not. My guess is that they fry a certain amount on a set schedule based on prior purchase numbers so as to limit the waste and she probably threw their frying schedule all off. But even if they *personally didn't want her to have the damn chicken, it's still not Socialism. Ugh, I don't do stupidity well.

Bella, I envy you the storms and always stalk around with a camera when we have them, too. And I'm no nerd. :-P

Jill, good deal on Spring Break and having more time to play! Steer clear of Taiya and Mulie, though, since you don't know them (I don't think). They're pregnant and can get mean. :-D

kristin said...

Yeah - I'm back and I can comment! Woo hoo!

kristin said...

I spent way too much money today. I went to Hobby Lobby and got paint and stuff to make Easter Gifts, then I went to Ross and got a few outfits for LM, then I went to the Garden Center and bought a bunch of flowers and terra cotta pots - uggghhh! Oh well.

Lisa said...

It sounds like you had a lot of fun, Kristin. What kind of flowers did you get?

kristin said...

I got some impatience and some other small flower- white and red.

I also got parsley and another herb. I also bought some sunflower seeds.

I got enough pots and flowers just in case my sister wants her stepdaughter to come over - I offered - thought she might want to go put her feet up and relax.

I think later I will go get some other seeds and I really want to do more "edible" foods - but I want to research more and find out what I can really grow in the Texas heat. I want to do tomatoes.

I didn't like the place I was at -no one was really helpful - and most didn't speak English - including the girl who rang me up - I think she got it wrong but since I was trying to wrangle a 3 year old and make sure i could see him at all times, I didn't try to figure it out.

kristin said...

i wish I had planned it better - it is a really great night to camp outside. Maybe tomorrow night :)

Angie said...

Oh, and hi to Bella! I hate skinny bitches too!

FT, I didn't read Mck's post ('cause I'm still clean and sober!) but I read some MWOP comments and got the gist. Sounds like she's trying to stir up controversy for clicks again.

Angie said...

Awwww, Kristin. Not cool. But since I am positive my Mom has never blown my Dad, it doesn't bother me!

Nilia said...

SW: OMG I got flashbacks when you mentioned Candyman. It took me *weeks to be able to sleep normally after watching that movie.

Also, when I do read Mck, I read it on reader. Kind of like Mck-lite. I am trying to stay away but she's got this cycle:

boring boring boring boring HOLY CRAP CRAZY boring boring boring OH NO HERE SHE GOES AGAIN! boring boring boring BEG BEG WHINE WHINE boring boring boring boring HATERS! PERSECUTION! LIES!

and so on. It seems like she is still losing readers at a steady pace from the comments she's been getting.

Kristin: in my case also highly unlikely, but ewwww.

Angie said...

Ya'll know I love Roger Ebert, right? Check out this excerpt from his review of Clash of the Titans (which he liked):

"Perseus and his comrades must invade the lair of Medusa, one of the three Gorgon girls, whose hair is a writhing mass of snakes and body is a long, lethal snake's tail. Look at her, and you'll turn to stone! Maybe this explains the high quality of Greek sculpture. The struggles with Medusa take place on ledges over a flaming lake of lava far below. She must be beheaded, which Perseus does, thoughtfully keeping the head... Is that a spoiler? The story has been out since 490 B.C."

LOL

Griping about chicken, until her lambs of God remind her it's Good Friday.

Oops - her fake MckChristianity is showing.

(Good Friday isn't a big night in conservative, evangelical Christianity. It's recognized much more in Lutheran and Catholic churches)

AP - not a Libertarian convert. Just getting up to speed.

Don't understand why the *new Tea Party movement is using that handle. The Boston Tea Party was to protest taxation without representation.

We've got plenty of representation here in the U.S. People may not like who's doing the representing, but we have it.

alright ladies, I'm out. House isn't as clean as i want it but I've been up since around 6 am and I'm tired.

All the "impatience" are out of the truck, all the pots are out, dryer is on, LM clothes are folded and in the basket, all the bags are off the couch...and my eyes are hurtin'. I also bought parsley and cilantro.

Tomorrow is a busy day! I'll see ya ladies later.

Night all!

Kristin - night - fresh parsley and cilantro from the garden are wonderful things. I hope you enjoy them!

I thought the same thing initially, but I think it's metaphorical - gathering together in a somewhat cohesive way to protest wrongs done upon us by our government. I actually like the whole *idea a great deal but Sarah Palin being so heavily involved puts me off. Plus, so many are of the uber-conservative school of thought that that makes me uncomfortable, too.

Kristin, you will love having fresh herbs! Fresh parsley is so darn good chopped up in salads.

JM repeated her "truth" post for Good Friday. Whatthefuckever.
