I knew about the sand - they do that in Ocean City, MD too. We get Nor'Easters that can be just as damaging to the beaches than hurricanes. They just keep pumping sand back into place - federally funded by tax dollars.
Mother Ocean is going to do what she wants.
OT, I just watched a hightlight on EPSN of a hockey player pulling his own tooth out after a hit last night. Niiiiiice.....
Christy this was my first time making them. It was really easy. I bought this kit that came with the pot. I picked out a different color and scent because it came with vanilla and that is just eww to me. I don't know why I was skeered before.
What's the fruitcake blog again (to lazy to go back and look). And a Q - the dark one said she "sold" the lyrics blog. How do you sell a blog that was free to you?
AP - that ins stuff is nonsense.
EL and Deb - did you see there was a water spout tornado in St. Mary's? Lots of rain here - no flying monkeys...
Margaret - I just looked at the radar - very nasty just to the South of us - I'll have to check out the news. Raining here again, I need this go away...STAT.
there is the link again Margaret.....question though. If MWOP is MckMama without pity wouldnt FWOP be fruitcake without pity? Is that supposed to mean that we are the fruitcakes? If so how can that be when she is the freak stalking us online to find out our names? LOL
So have you all seen Punch Drunk Love? Josh and I watched it last night and I have to say it is the first Adam Sandler movie I have watched that I truly HATED. It was so boring and so hard to follow...I feel like we wasted 1 1/2 hours of our lives.
Hobby Lobby is pretty awesome! Not sure if someone answered, but there are candle kits at most if not all craft stores. They usually have 'adult' ones and then kiddie ones that are easier/less work involved.
Hugs back KaytieJ!
Mulie- are you there and in recovery from your drive?
I have never before said, "Margaret, you've got mail." I am so non-techie. I just read the manual from our Christmas gift camera, took a picture, got it into a folder on my laptop, and attached it to an email. I think I did, anyway.
CK said: For this I went to grad school... Yeah; me too. And they charged as much tuition as the engineering students. I also learned spatter-painting, how to print my letters and what to do when boys pull their twigs out on the playground. Hahaha.
Shannon, it's funny that Punch Drunk Love was the first AS movie that you hated. It was the first one that Roger Ebert (and I) ever liked. Different strokes!
I fried the rest of the empanadas I made yesterday when I got home from work. And OMG, they are so good! All I want to do for the rest of my life is wrap things in pastry and deep fry them and eat them! Somebody stop me!
I loved '50 first dates' with AS. I am such a ninny. I get teary every time I watch.
***Warning RiM and Trudy: snake story follows!*** So the dumb snake *still won't eat. Not frozen 'pinkies', not frozen 'small furry mice' (this is how they are packaged btw), not ground beef cooked or raw. Nothing. Nada. Zip. So today I *know I have to go buy him a real, live mouse to eat. :( I go to the pet store, and the lady is very helpful. She has a lot of good ideas for feeding, as well as alleviating my guilt over mouse-sacrifice. I get the doomed mouse home, tell him I am sorry, and dump him in the snake cage. And then the damn mouse jumps in the air once....twice....and keels over dead. Spectacular. I killed him by scaring him to death. And the snake *still has not eaten.
Kelly from Kelly's Korner posted this. I think she is so genuine!
I pray every day to let me shine HIS love that others would be drawn to Him. I HATE attention on myself. The thing is - if you are drawn to me at all............it's more than likely it's because you are drawn to my love for Jesus. And it's very humbling to me for people to want to meet me because I'm nothing special.....but HE is. I have NO desire to be a blog celebrity. But being given a platform to share my faith IS a very unique and amazing thing and I will do my best because Jesus is EVERYTHING to me and all that really matters. But I pray it always stays a LOT more about God than it does about me.)
Margaret, thanks. They are the lights in Grandma's life.
EL - love the snake story! Sorry you're struggling so, but I think snakes are a lot like toddlers. If they're really hungry they will eventually eat what you give them. I hope.
EL- ha@ the mouse! Can't believe it got scared to death after all that! It should alleviate some of your mouse-death guilt, though, since it didn't die by snake. It was just a wussy mouse. :)
FT - I wish I had her kind of faith. I hate that I feel like I'm floundering so much and not knowing where the hell I belong or what I believe. Kelly keeps tellings me to just pray, and I just don't .. have it in me.
Taiya - if it makes you feel better, there's no such thing as real crab 'round these parts. Well, there is, but at Costco in Kalispell, not here. It'd be 'krab' rangoons. lol.
That's probably what I ate, Robin. It was at a crappy chinese restaurant. Maybe if I think of it that way I will be able to crab legs when we are in FL this fall.
Taiya: maybe you should get a pet snake? It could scare the mouse in your kitchen to death. Problem resolved!
RiM: I know what you mean. For me it's easy to be faithful when everything's going well. I crumble easily when the going gets rough. I'm ashamed of that sometimes. I blame Him, and rage at Him. But that's normal, think. And I always come back. Praying is hard. I think the act of prayer (when done properly and with the right intention) is humbling. By that I mean that the person who believes in prayer is essentially saying, I am nothing. I am asking for xx but I know in the end it will be Your will. And I will accept that.
I'm not preachy, I swear it.
And I think for you you have some history, you know? With a JW background and finding some new ground you need to find a comfortable place to be, a comfortable way to believe. Is Kelly a practicing anything? I am an RC but I would feel comfortable in a number of churches (Christian-based I mean). I don't consider myself textbook RC. I just believe a bunch of stuff and RC comes the closest. Of course I was raised RC so I'm comfortable there anyway.
Oooh FT! We killed that mouse. Dead and gone. Apparently we only had one, because we had the one dead mouse and then nothing. No signs of mice anywhere, and no traps touched since. They are still up just in case, but the mouse is gone. Otherwise I would just grab a snake from outside and set it loose in the basement. Okay, so I really wouldn't, but It would be better than the mouse.
Plus I couldn't count on my mouse being such a wuss. :P Next time you should tell the pet store lady that you want a mouse that isn't such a wimp, EL.
Taiya: we had a family of mice in the garage during renovatations. 2 adults and at least 5 babies can't remember exactly. With all the clutter and the weather cooling down last fall, it was perfect conditions. Well all that plus a bag of grass seed. I swear I could *smell them. We loaded up spring traps with peanut butter (who knew?) and that did the trick.
I great up in a semi-detached house and the neighbour ran a rooming house pretty well, so we had mice off an on, I hated it so much I swore I'd move before ever living with one again. And those mice were smart, they avoided spring traps, poison and glue traps. We had to use exterminators every couple of years.
FT- we did the PB. I literally bought one of every single trap at the store and one of them just happened to work. If not I was going to borrow a cat. If that didn't work I would have called an exterminator. I am not scared of mice, but I have a thing about bacteria/germs. Feces on my counter really creeps me out.
FT, I had an infestation of mice a few years ago. And they weren't the little gray mice, they were big, brown field mice with long tails and white bellies. One of the bastards left a single, solitary poop on top of the toaster oven every night. So, I bought 5 traps, set them in the kitchen, and went to bed. No sooner did I turn off the light, then I heard *snap! *snap! *snap-snap-snap! I turned on the light and looked at my dog, Bella, and she gave me this look like, "Lady, you go out there, 'cause I'm not!"
It was awful. I think I caught about 20 mice over three nights.
All this fried food talk is making me hungry. If I see a fair on the side of the road I am so going to be stopping and stealing a funnel cake from some poor kid and running away. When i get arrested I'll blame you guys. "But I'm pregnant! And they kept talking about fried food! What was I supposed to do?"
Bella- that is sick! That happened when the neighbors moved in to the house next door. It had been empty for months. They moved and we got the mice. We set the traps and literally as our butts were hitting the couch we heard "snap, snap, snap, snap!" So Matt took them out (eww) and then we no sooner sat down and it happened again. We had mice for 3 nights. I didn't count them, though.
Taiya: me too, I'm not scared of them but ewww, mouse pee and droppings. And on eating surfaces, I totally understand!
There are Catholic churches not considered Roman Catholic, there is a distinction. Eastern Rite (vs. Roman Rite) and Episcopal churches are also Catholic although not Roman Catholic. Roman Catholic suggests a direct link to Rome, the Pope as leader, etc.
Catholic with a lowercase c just means universal.
There's probably more to it than this but that I think is the big distinction.
FT -- Kelly was raised Catholic, and so far as I know he's never had his name taken off the books or whatever they do. But in the meantime he's run the gamut of religion and he feels like he's looking, but he is way more comfortable than I am just *praying, and feeling like it's okay. FOr me, I was raised and had it drilled in my head so much that if you don't pray this *exact way, and if you aren't living your life this particular way (and I'm not) that it's no good, so I *want to, I just don't know *how, and when I try it feels so weird and just ... wrong. Sounds so damn whiny, I know.
Okay. I will be googling those. I used to read about different religions that mine, just as an interest of being informed, but I didn't get too much into catholicism.
Bella: OMG! My mice were little, like pet-store variety I guess. I hate rodents of any size but they were little. I've never seen the mice you're describing. Although I did see a rat once in the laneway leading to my parents' garage years ago, I thought I had hit a cat. (Laneway like a little unnamed street where garages faced each other, it was just used to get to your garage and put out garbage for collection). It was the nastiest thing I'd ever seen, I had no idea they really got that big. I hate squirrels too, any rodent-y material. Our hamster took like *forever to die (3 years, WTH?) just to spite me I'm sure.
A guy I dated in college and his roommate got a frydaddy from one of their parents. They deep friend everything you could think of: twinkies, snickers bars, peanut butter sandwiches, marshmallows, etc.
Peanut butter sandwiches? Ugh. I haven't tried the twinkie or the snickers bar no matter how much time I've spent in the south. It just creeps me out a bit. Same as boiled peanuts. I avoid them at all costs.
RiM: They don't take lapsed Catholics off the books, LOL! I think you're thinking of excommunication which is what I told you one time would happen to me for hanging out with a falled JW whore. I kid, I kid!
Don't get stuck on the formality of prayer. It's just talking. You don't have to say the Hail Mary or the Our Father or any formalized prayer. And you don't have to do it out loud. Prayers are private. I also don't "do" confession. I don't need a middle-man. So it's just between you and Him, whoever you think He is. Just a friendly conversation of thanks, or asking, or wondering, or even complaining. I don't know if all religions refer to their gods as "Father", but RCs do, so that could be comforting, right? Like He's a good Father who's been there the whole time. That's how I do it, I don't kneel by my bed every night (or any night, come to think of it), that's not how I roll. You don't have to be embarassed or uncomfortable about a conversation taking place in your head. You don't even have to tell anyone about it.
Bella and Taiya- we had the same thing with abundance of mice being caught. Once they were gone, they were gone. But there was a few days of *alot of dead mice. We used goober and grape, the peanut better and jelly all together in the jar. It tastes gross, but mice love it!

Wow. I could have said this word for word. This is how I view prayer and confession.
Not really soggy, Taiya. They are damp because water gets in the shells, but the nuts are firm and chewy and delicious. Jill, you and I are also SEC sisters, and I'm sure we agree that the rest of the conferences are crap.
I am with FT on the prayer. I just pray when it comes to mind. Cooking, driving, playing, shopping, etc. There is no formality to it, or strict form of praying. I am lame and will even think things like "Hey God, what's up? Well, I am..." haha. I am a loser, I know.
CK: I agree, informal, I like how you say we don't even have to name it as prayer. I think the formality of prayers and rites and churches scare a lot of people away.
FT-- "failed JW whore." :::limping offholding my kicked stomach::;
I KID, I KID!!! lol. That was damn funny.
Thank you for the thoughts on prayer. My logical side knows you're right; my brainwashed side wants to rebel. I am working through it, and hearing people who really believe helps. (Jill, you, too.)
okay, off to watch a movie with my kids and try to pretend like Kelly isn't not coming home tonight. :(
I am off to bed with Matt. He puts stuff on my heel, and he puts stuff on my itchy legs. haha. If he falls asleep I am screwed and have to try to work around Eeq to get to it myself. Which is, I am sure, comical. Even though it is a pain in the butt for me!
FT - I love how your analogy - perfect in my case.
Bella - yep, first spring thunder boomers!
I love funnel cake, or fried dough too, like the big hunk of dough. We make little "dough bellies", buy the frozen dough at the store, let it rise over night in cupcake tins, then drop then into oil and they are cute little puff cakes. smear butter, sprinkle with powdered sugar....Vwala!
I wish I could stay and chat, but I'm so tired. Still recoving this old body from a very late night on Saturday night. She ain't what she used to be:) Have a good night ladies!
If anybody wants to read an interesting book on real life spirituality, read Anne Lamott - esp. Traveling Mercies. You talk about someone who has major doubts and is raw about it.
Her stuff is powerful. Not in a preachy way - not in a rules kind of way - just very honest and ugly and dirty.
Okay, a laneway.... is like an unnamed street, it's wide enough for 2 cars to pass but barely. So my dad's garage faces some other guys' garage. So all the house fronts face each other, and behind all the garages face the garages of the street east of my dad's. I've never seen laneways in newer subdivisions, our garage is in the front of our house. My dad's front is, well, just his front. The problem with laneways is that they're out of sight for the most part, and not many bylaws about the upkeep. So a lot of garages are super-ugly, falling down, filled with junk, and that attracts major pests. Many homeowners keep their garages pretty, my dad's is a cement brick type but many homeowners match their garage brick to their home brick.
Also laneways are a low-priority to get snow removal, so that's always fun, when I lived there there were winters I couldn't push the garage door out and not a damned thing I could do about it unless I wanted to dig out 2 kms of laneway.
Laneways are quite common in Toronto. The house my parents are in (where I was raised) is about 120 years old.
CK, I have never made either, but I did almost get sick on biegnets in NO. They put something in the coffee down there...I think it's chicory? The combo of coffee and biegnets is irresistible.
FT- it sounds like alleys and laneways are the same thing. Here in Chicago, they don't get plowed, usually only one car can fit down them. Some neighborhoods alleys are gross beyond gross. Some is where everyone in the hood hangs out in. The garages all face each other etc.
Just one last to clarify, something I just found, I am terrible at explaining things:
Rear access laneways provide access to the rear of lots principally for access to garages.
I think they're prevalent in Toronto because of the narrow lots. You couldn't have a garage in the front at all. My dad's house is skinny and long, mine is more square. The newer subdivisions are all squarish I guess to generalize...
Sopapillas are little triangles of dough, that you deep fry - they puff up so they are hollow on the inside. You sprinkle them with cinnamon sugar, and bite a corner open, drizzle chocolate or honey into them.
Great dessert for a mexican feast. But they have to be served immediately.
Sandy, could be the same then. We don't get drugs and such in laneways (haven't heard) but I wouldn't walk down one alone even during the day. Having said that, nothing ever happened in our laneway that I remember. Although we have had murders (we I mean Toronto) in laneways. It's out of the way and nobody sees anything.
Growing up my brother and I biked up and down the laneway because it was better than the sidewalk and as far as streets went there was practically no traffic.
We played kick the can in the yard. And used a ball instead of a can. Fun game, that. "Over the can on Angie!" I can still hear the sing-song lilt of it.
FT, your laneways sound like residential alleys, prominent in older parts of cities, often rundown, plowed last, sometimes unpaved, where kids hangout if they don't want to be seen. It's like a half street cutting the block in half.
On my way to work in a minute but was reading and hubby saw Bella's post..he is Jealous Bella..he homebrews and would love to be able to grow some hops in the yard
OT- my yorkie snores really loud. So loud he wakes himself up. He also must be dreaming of squirrels because he's running in his sleep. Now he's sleep barking.
EL, I miss Baltimore in a physical way. I sometimes ache to be back there, which makes no sense, because it's not really a nice place, ya know? I just love that city with my whole heart.
Ginger, we homebrew as well. I'll upload some photos in a couple months of our hop bowers. I think we might get them as high as 16 ft this year!
i want to have a stronger faith, a better ability to pray and trust. i feel like all i've done, though, is show just how fragile and incomplete mine is.
Bella- we used to take the bus to Memorial Stadium from our house. Then we would walk to my grandfathers office, or Union Memorial (if he was there). We were *young. Crazy to think.
Naps are freaky if I take too long of one. I *love to nap on the weekends, but no more than one hour. Anything more than that and I can't sleep at night.
TWG: Kelly *is amazing I'll give you that. And she had her own trials when her little girl is that. She is real, and humble. Not because she loves Jesus all the time (even when she's worried He's failed her) but because she knows He's always there to come back to. She doesn't deviate, doesn't sell anything (including her soul), prays for others, posts lovely pictures of real Fellowship if I could ever use that word without gagging. Not chicken wing night, but Fellowship. She walks the walk. And she doesn't toot her own horn.
Also (hands head) I like how she punctuates everything with Ha! It suits her, I think she's just adorable. I'll bet she's an awesome BFF.
Hey, Tara, and you missed so much we can't even begin to tell you. That's what happens when you aren't around!
Bella, back in about '96, Beth, Jake and I took off for Baltimore. We went to Inner Harbor, the National Aquarium...spent several days there doing other things, too. I *loved it. I know it's not the prettiest city ever but there was just something about it I liked. It felt homey. We took off on foot from Inner Harbor one day and just walked and walked...we wound up lost in some project-y area, which had Beth freaking out. Jake and I were just like, "Oh, this is cool, too!" as we stepped over nasty shit...lol. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
Dang it, AP! I try to pop in during the day, but I never make it. My little boys are pure terror lately and if they see my attention at the computer, they send out their Bat signal to each other and I'm done for. If I get on during the day, it's just to check email and throw up a couple of pictures on Flickr. I'll try harder!
So, here's a question - I've got a cat, Gina, who is old. 17 this year. She's got some type of mass on her chest area that doesn't seem to bother her but gets bigger and bigger and her ears are filled with tumors that she scratches open and they're beyond nasty when she does. She isn't in pain except when she scratches one open and then she'll carry on for a few minutes. Frankly, this is not a cat I have any real fondness for...I got her at 5 weeks because I wanted her litter sister, my sweet Ginger, and they were very attached to one another. It's reached the point we don't even want Gina on us or around us because she smells so awful. Oh, and she has gone deaf with the ear issues. Anyway, Jake gets all upset when I talk about having her put down since she's really not suffering. She eats, occasionally plays, mostly just sleeps soundly. Would I be an awful person if I had her put down while he's gone and then swear to him something bad happened and I had to?
LOL AP. Good, it will save me some scrolling fingers...
I'm sorry about your cat. Poor thing. She sounds like she's in really rough shape. Have you taken her to the vet? What do they say about her quality of life?
Tara, Gina was at the vet a couple of years ago and she (the vet) told me what to watch for as far as signs of real pain, ongoing pain and all. She's not showing any signs of pain except when she scratches a tumor open. She'll howl and carry on for a few minutes, but then it seems to pass until she does it again in a few days. It's not going to get better though and I hate for her to get worse than it is. Plus, honestly, she's so terribly unpleasant that I sort of hope every day I'll wake up and find she just died in her sleep.
Poor cat. I'm not a pet person, so it's easy for me to say to put her down and just tell Jake that's what happens with pets. Scratching open a tumor sounds downright awful.
And I was directed to the fruitcake's "blog" and see I have been "named" as on offender. It will actually help her hits, because there is very little on a Google search that "Muliebrity Smith" will yield.
I have never done or said anything to the fruitcake and even complimented her GM Diaries site the other day. I thought it was well put together. I now find this entire situation bizarre.
AP, Put that poor cat down. She sounds miserable. SG, is correct, they don't want to seem weak (that whole weak link in the pack animal thing). I am not one to nurse a sick animal though. I figure I have given them better lives then they would have otherwise.
Holy Cow, talk about right to the point..so is that supposed to be a blog about all mommy bloggers or a blog to bash the daisies? Why would she put up a list with everyone's ID's/names..that's a bit pitiful.
I do have to say I have not yet seen anyone call themselves a F*cktard yet but then I haven't read all the posts. That seems more like a hate blog than a "site where we can discuss FAIRLY a dissenting point of view " so far
you can always comment since I see only she and one other person has ever commented..when you comment just tell em to click your name to see your blog and they can tell for themselves how evil you are
"I do have to say I have not yet seen anyone call themselves a F*cktard yet but then I haven't read all the posts. That seems more like a hate blog than a "site where we can discuss FAIRLY a dissenting point of view " so far"
Oh, what's she saying about fucktards? Nevermind, I'll go look. That's something I call Jake (behind his back) whe for a long time. It was also used on IB's blog, one of them called her baby that.
Also, I'm going to try to get my courage up to take Gina and have her put down while he's gone. Hopefully I can do it. Thanks for reassuring me it's okay.
AP- I think having her put down might be better for her in the long run. It sounds like she is already bad and you really don't know how she is feeling or how bad she hurts.
LOL! I read Maria's newest update...I might have called myself a fucktard, too. I can't swear I haven't, to be honest. If anyone actually finds her site, she's giving us some good publicity, isn't she?
Now, for an observation - all mention of Wendy is now gone and a day after I questioned Wendy's honesty about who was really lurking on SIP and what was going on, this comes up: "activity on Daisy can pick up with mention of people they have not been able to engage in a debate with. So they make up stuff. The resulting self inflicted drama can bump up comments to over 300+ all of which are pure speculation."
Draw your own conclusions. I can see two - they've buddied up or Maria is trying to make it like they've buddied up.
Well, while the vet hasn't seen her in quite some time, she feels that if Gina's enthusiastic for food, plays, sleeps peacefully, shows no interest in hiding or secluding herself, grooms well (she even grooms her sister still), potties well and holds her weight, she's not suffering. And all of that is happening. That's what has had me so confused as to what I should do. In the end, that's why I feel bad. But yeah, better now than when she really hurts a lot, I think.
Ginger, I think she will...she's a wonderful vet. We first found her when we needed someone to come put my Irish Setter down and our regular vet wouldn't come to the house. We hated traumatizing her with a trip out at that point and I found this lady just starting out in practice. She put Daisy (yep, Daisy!) down while sitting on my mom's utility room floor with Daisy in her lap, singing to her. We've not used any other vet since. She's a good soul and I think she'll help us.
There is one vet in this area that will come out to the house...we had to use her when our neighbors poisoned our rat terrier with rat poison (how cliche) and he was suffering so much. She was hoping she would be able to come out and just give hi something but it was the inhumane poison rather than the one that is not so nasty and she let the boys say goodbye to him and hug him before she let him 'go home' all the others wanted us to bring him the 30+ miles to them. We use her for our cat now and still love her to bits.
Oh, Lord, Ginger, I'm sorry. With the colors and small font, I can't read it. My eyes are awful and I couldn't find a good spot where everything focused.
Everyone is welcome! The only real rules here are no spamming shit and no posting personal addresses, phone numbers or other similar info. I don't need that kind of stress. That's it, although it could change if someone gets creative or something. If you don't like what is said here, you can: 1) Say so; 2) Hold it in and stew on it; 3. Address it privately to the person who said it; 4) Snark about it to your friends; 5) Leave. Don't bother me with it, I don't care and I won't get involved. I might, however, talk about you behind your back or post your email/message to me on here. *grins*
Them's the rules...all of them.
Have fun!

CK - OMG - we used to sing that song in Brownies and school field trips - I taught it to my kids too!
In honor of Florida being "Heaven's Waiting Room", I made Ocean Mist scented candles. They're cooling off right now.
Evening ladies.
We are getting another wave of bad weather. yippie
Huh, Jill. I don't think we are getting more bad weather here. Must be passing south of us.
Deb - got a whole suitcase full of those little ditties.
Take your pick - Lucy Locket, Little Tommy Tittlemouse, Charlie Over the Water, Pease Porridge Hot.
For this I went to grad school...
Amazing pictures of the volcano/ash cloud here: http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2010/04/more_from_eyjafjallajokull.html
Cool pics SW!
Sandy, how do you make candles? Is it hard to do?
Wow SW, those photos were amazing, especially the satellite shot from space.
Jill - hopefully the storms won't be too severe.
Alright, the screaming dingos are fighting, must get them in pj's.

That's cool Sandy...where did you get it? Do you think craft stores have them? Might be a good project for the kids to do.
Those pics are freaking awesome....let's just say that I now have a new desktop photo...that first one was so cool.

Well our bad weather came and went quickly. It got super windy and very dark and rained a little.
The name of that volcano looks like what happens when I start typing with my fingers on the wrong keys.
Margaret I am anxiously waiting for "more juice" it is later than afternoon isnt it? LOL
I love the Florida - "Heaven's Waiting Room".
I'm going to use that one on my uncle this week while we are there!
http://fwop.wordpress.com/
there is the link again Margaret.....question though. If MWOP is MckMama without pity wouldnt FWOP be fruitcake without pity? Is that supposed to mean that we are the fruitcakes? If so how can that be when she is the freak stalking us online to find out our names? LOL
Everytime one of you all mentions Fruicakes and FWOP, I start singing the Jimmy Buffett song "Fruitcakes".
HAHAHA Sorry Deb :)
Morning Daisies! I hate you all.
I fell asleep on couch this morning after work trying to catch up with all the fun :-p
EL - Flooded basement - Ugh!
Hugs to our preggers Daisies - Mulie and Taiya.
Miss y'all!
Christy- I got it at Michael's. I think Hobby Lobby has a better selection of stuff though.
So have you all seen Punch Drunk Love? Josh and I watched it last night and I have to say it is the first Adam Sandler movie I have watched that I truly HATED. It was so boring and so hard to follow...I feel like we wasted 1 1/2 hours of our lives.
Shannon - just read the fruitie tootie blog - I wonder if she kisses her grands with that mouth :)
I'm DYING to go to a Hobby Lobby - we don't have them here.
I would have to go visit Rhys to visit a Hobby Lobby
Hobby Lobby is pretty awesome! Not sure if someone answered, but there are candle kits at most if not all craft stores. They usually have 'adult' ones and then kiddie ones that are easier/less work involved.
Hugs back KaytieJ!
Mulie- are you there and in recovery from your drive?
shannon
i live near hobby lobby?
news to me! wow. there is one! 3 hours from here (:
LOL I found one in Meridian ID.....If I was gonna drive that far for a Hobby Lobby I would certainly have to come and visit you!!!!
Now I am sad. Kristin - miss you. Stop by when you can.
Corinne - Damn. That would be so confusing to not have a government.
Night all! Two more nights to go. Yawn.
Somebody stop me!
and now with my new-found mad skills I am attempting to add a photo to my profile. Is it working?
Yes, it worked RF - great picture!
The only Adam Sandler movie I liked was Anger Management...and I think I liked that because of Jack Nicholson.
Hi everyone! ::waving::
I'm so excited! I did a photo!
SW, you and Shannon should start a Fried Foods Support Group.
CK: All I could think of with your first post, was:
Why do I have a cookie jar? Who KNOWS?!
Or something to that effect.
RF - you've got mail back :)
Is that you Bella?
That's a whole lotta cute kids RF :)
I loved '50 first dates' with AS. I am such a ninny. I get teary every time I watch.
***Warning RiM and Trudy: snake story follows!***
So the dumb snake *still won't eat.
It's me :) I changed my photo to a hop, in honor of our hop beds kicking butt in the backyard!
LOL SW has the deep fried addiction!!
Somebody tell me they know what I'm talking about.
Hops Bella - whew. I thought it might be a dark sider :)
FT- I love Kelly.
RF the grands are adorable!
FT
i totally do!
Margaret, thanks. They are the lights in Grandma's life.
EL - love the snake story! Sorry you're struggling so, but I think snakes are a lot like toddlers. If they're really hungry they will eventually eat what you give them. I hope.
Thanks, Jill. I love them so much.
EL- ha@ the mouse! Can't believe it got scared to death after all that! It should alleviate some of your mouse-death guilt, though, since it didn't die by snake. It was just a wussy mouse. :)
EL, that mouse story was funny! Poor mousie, though! :-(
Shannon, I'm resisting the urge to start googling "fritter recipes" and planning tomorrow's menu.
RF - Way to go, you are on your way! Cute pic too:)
EL - OMG with the mouse story - sorry, but I laughed! I guess the mouse wanted to one up the snake...in a weird way.
Bella - Hi - it's been a while!
I like Kelly too.
EL -- It's a sign. THe snake must die.
But Taiya is right - that mouse was a wuss.
FT - I wish I had her kind of faith. I hate that I feel like I'm floundering so much and not knowing where the hell I belong or what I believe. Kelly keeps tellings me to just pray, and I just don't .. have it in me.
RF - I just saw your picture -- those are some darn cute kids!
SW and the other fry-daddy-addicts - YOu made me want crab won-tons. Curse you!
Ugh... don't say the 'crab' word. I haven't recovered from the rangoons that I got food poisoning from. That word makes my stomach clench.
ooooo yumm I need to try some fritters
Oh yes crustacean puffs sound delicious too
Dammit I dont think this stuff is good for my diet change LOL
Taiya - if it makes you feel better, there's no such thing as real crab 'round these parts. Well, there is, but at Costco in Kalispell, not here. It'd be 'krab' rangoons. lol.
That's probably what I ate, Robin. It was at a crappy chinese restaurant. Maybe if I think of it that way I will be able to crab legs when we are in FL this fall.
I laughed at the mouse too. Actually the funniest part is that I was so damn shocked I went to sit on the sofa. Missed and fell flat on my ass.
RF- those are some cute kids.
Ignoring the talk of fried goodies, even though my mouth is watering so much it *hurts.
RiM- I am diappointed in your continued dislike of Bert.
Bert? Is the snake named Bert? As in Bert and Ernie?
EL -- I *want to like Bert. Really, I do. :::looks away and sticks pins in snake voodoo::::
Hey Rhys! Shall I call you TWG? How are you feeling today?
Hey Deb, you guys got some storms over the weekend, hm?
What's everyone's favorite fried delicacy? I'll go first :D. I love, love, love funnel cake. I will stop if I see a fair...I'm serious.
Larry King is about Bret Michaels tonight.
My most favourite fried things are wontons and shrimp croquettes.
FT- what is RC?
::googling funnel cake recipes to see if all of the ingredients are on hand::
Taiya: Roman Catholic
Ahh... I should have known that. I was trying to think of all of the denominations but I was just thinking "catholic" without the Roman.
Those damned mice *learn is the problem.
Darn, can't make funnel cake without using the milk for tomorrow morning's cereal.
SW - eat a funnel cake for breakfast - problem solved.
Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but is Roman Catholic different from another type of Catholic? I know little to nothing about catholicism.
Taiya- Bert as in Roberto. NOT named by me.
Thanks for the Larry King heads up Margaret. My kid has it on now.
Bella- Hmmmm. Fried Clams. Or fried raviolli.
You're all funny..
Mice and snakes - both creep me out.
FT - I got the cookie jar joke.
OK, I am out for a bit, as the Blackhawks are playing. I might be back later, if not, goodnight :)
Taiya, no jury would convict you for the funnel cake theft. Go for it.
Margaret, way to problem solve!
RiM- doesn't sound whiny to me. Sounds honest.
A guy I dated in college and his roommate got a frydaddy from one of their parents. They deep friend everything you could think of: twinkies, snickers bars, peanut butter sandwiches, marshmallows, etc.
Hmmm. I have some leftover Monster Cookie dough. Anybody think that would fry up good?
Peanut butter sandwiches? Ugh. I haven't tried the twinkie or the snickers bar no matter how much time I've spent in the south. It just creeps me out a bit. Same as boiled peanuts. I avoid them at all costs.
Boiled peanuts are damn fine eatin'!
SW we may might be heated rivals on the football field, but we can agree that boiled peanuts are awesome.
FT - you have mail.
Aren't they soggy? The word boiled always makes me picture soggy peanuts.
I think we can even be "praying" when we're just thinking about stuff. We don't even have to name it as prayer.
Bella and Taiya- we had the same thing with abundance of mice being caught. Once they were gone, they were gone. But there was a few days of *alot of dead mice. We used goober and grape, the peanut better and jelly all together in the jar. It tastes gross, but mice love it!
"

Taiya the sogginess is the best part.
I am with FT on the prayer. I just pray when it comes to mind. Cooking, driving, playing, shopping, etc. There is no formality to it, or strict form of praying. I am lame and will even think things like "Hey God, what's up? Well, I am..." haha. I am a loser, I know.
Yes, SW, we can agree on that.
CK: I agree, informal, I like how you say we don't even have to name it as prayer. I think the formality of prayers and rites and churches scare a lot of people away.
Hmm.. very odd. I am not sure I will still be able to try them, but I might consider it. I still can't do a fried twinkie or snickers, though.
FT-- "failed JW whore." :::limping offholding my kicked stomach::;
Can't...stay...away...
FT, here is a field mouse: http://www.naturephoto-cz.com/photos/andera/black-striped-field-mouse-3794.jpg
So, a laneway is like an alley?
recoving = recovering
good grief.
Deb, do you shop at Giant ever? They have a great little fried treat in the bakery section, where the self-serve donuts are. Apple flips.
I would ride my bike through the dangerous streets of Baltimore to go get one, if the craving struck me. Oh, yeah!
Dough in hot oil - mmmm....
Has anyone ever made sopapillas (not bars like SW made).
OMG - honey, chocolate, hot, fluffy....
Or how about beignets in the French Quarter of NOLA?
Bella: freaking ewwwww....
Bella- which giant did you ride to?
FT, gotcha on the laneway :)
CK, I have never made either, but I did almost get sick on biegnets in NO. They put something in the coffee down there...I think it's chicory? The combo of coffee and biegnets is irresistible.
Not sure how laneways compare to alleys...
The one on 35th street...I think it's considered the Waverly neighborhood or North Charles Village. I lived on 25th and St. Paul.
Okay now I swear I'm done.
Chicory coffee - Cafe du Monde.....
I remember playing kick the can in the alley when I was growing up, fun stuff!
FT - rear access laneways sound like what we call alleys in U.S. cities.
G'nite. Early morning for me (carpool).
I know it well. My grandfathers office was on 33rd street.
We played kick the can in the yard. And used a ball instead of a can. Fun game, that. "Over the can on Angie!" I can still hear the sing-song lilt of it.
Goodnight, CK!
Okay, carry on.
My internet is so slow tonight that I am talking about something already completely explained. Sorry.
Sleep barking - that is funny. I miss my old yellow dog running in her sleep. She'd always have a big smile on her face.
Ozzy is snoring like a freight train right now.
hiya ft
i was so beat, i took a nap.
feel like i could sleep forever. it is a nice but freaky feeling.
i'm good with TWG or rhys. no biggie
and i am steadfastly trying to NOT tell mouse stories....
TWG, I bet you have a mouse story that would beat everyone elses :)
TWG: naps are nice!
Bella: oh I don't know, I'll be there's a great mouse story originating in the Frozen Tundra... with it being so remote and all!
I'll *bet
bella
we just have lots of mice and voles. i have a very active cat too.
she likes to... party with them in the tub. usually all that is left is a random piece of a critter.
but one night, she brought me 4. in the morning, she had laid out another 6 or so. i like her.
it's humbling to read some of you guys talk about faith. i know mine is not strong, some days i can feel it crumble.
ft
naps are freaky to me, i never take them. you lose part of the day. and i slept from 7ish -8ish
i never do that
i want to have a stronger faith, a better ability to pray and trust. i feel like all i've done, though, is show just how fragile and incomplete mine is.
i'd like to be more like kelly stamps.
I'll bet she's an awesome BFF.
sorry, I meant she had her own trials when her little girl was *born. Don't know where that came from. I am getting tired, I suppose...
Hi y'all. I tried to catch up last night and only did a little. I've missed all of today now. Did I miss anything important?
Nice! Someone made a new blog to bash people that post here and MWOP?
That's hilarious.
Oh, I just scrolled down. That's pretty messed up that they posted first and last names. Not cool. :o(
Hi Tara! It's not cool.
Oh well I'm out. 6:30am will be here before you know it.
Hi Sandy, sleep well. Nobody is ever on when I am.
Sad. :o(
Hey, Tara, and you missed so much we can't even begin to tell you.
Goodnight, Sandy!
Fine, Tara, now I feel guilty so I'll confess that you didn't miss much.
I won't be around much during the day this week, because I start my job with the Census tomorrow. Yea.
Oh, and my baby is still and girl and she has a giant head.
Just thought I'd say hey, doing alright with my boys and the crazy cat.
AP she may not seem to be suffering but it can't be pleasant for her. Plus animals will hold back until the very end so as to not look 'weak'.
I figure I have given them better lives then they would have otherwise.
ok I am behind here...fruitcakes blog?
Bella, told hubby you were a brewer...he wishes I would get into it, he was really drooling, his phone is prob shorted out now lol

I just wish she would have linked my blog to her site, so people could see what an evil person I really am. *eye roll*
lol I always forget about my blog, usually doing my business blog and such.
My blog is usually forgotten as well.
I have to get to bed now. I have to report for duty at 0800. Yawn.
you can always comment since I see only she and one other person has ever commented..when you comment just tell em to click your name to see your blog and they can tell for themselves how evil you are
lol I have 'mom' duty at 8am but up and trying to be busy at work..last night...wiith clients at least :(

Oh, what's she saying about fucktards? Nevermind, I'll go look. That's something I call Jake (behind his back) whe for a long time. It was also used on IB's blog, one of them called her baby that.
Mulie, good luck on the new job! Let us know how it goes. And I sent my form in. *nose in air*
I think Jake will understand some day. He probably figures the cat is almost as old as he is and is afraid you'll take him in if he falls ill!
AP-will the vet even put her to sleep if she still appears to not be suffering?
btw finally updated blog lol after 7 months
Ginger, I think she will...she's a wonderful vet. We first found her when we needed someone to come put my Irish Setter down and our regular vet wouldn't come to the house. We hated traumatizing her with a trip out at that point and I found this lady just starting out in practice. She put Daisy (yep, Daisy!) down while sitting on my mom's utility room floor with Daisy in her lap, singing to her. We've not used any other vet since. She's a good soul and I think she'll help us.
Off to check your blog!
"We use her for our cat now and still love her to bits."
That was so good of her to do. Maybe it's the lady vets that are so sweet. :-)
Goodnight, all. I'll slap a new post up in a bit, announce it and I'm gone until tomorrow afternoon. Behave!
that's ok AP I just redid the background, try it now...had been planning on changing it, my PCs at work don't show that old one well
lol AP, do we haaaave to? (with the pre-teen whine i hear every day)
