I used to make to do lists all the time. I have my important to do's on my phone and it rings with an alarm.
My son is my to do list. Every morning it's the same. "Mommy, we have to do our jobs and makes beds and then wipe down the bathroom." Then it goes on to laundry etc.

Here's your sappy moment of the day. Just read this on a blog, and it's such a good thing to remember.
We have no problem picking out our favorite team...or our favorite player...and cheering them on in their game. In many cases..we cheer for people we don't even know. We are not always quite as enthusiastic about offering our encouragement to those we are 'doing life' with. We need others to come alongside of us...and they need to hear us cheering for them. So throw your support behind the team of your choice ...but don't forget to cheer for those who need a little encouragement in the game of life.

It is supposed to get sunny and warm here later this week. I got my vegetable garden planted yesterday, so I'm happy!
When I worked at the bird stores I would make excessively long lists that laid out every single thing I did then I would leave big check marks on every single thing I finished. My boss was a stickler and if he wasn't there he assumed we didn't do anything. Nice guy, really, just anal about always being busy. So I would make a list like this:

Some nut bird at work is wondering why I've not gone over and questioned a neighbor whose son got arrested in Pakistan for alleged terrorism. Hmmm, we'll, I'm quite sure the FBI has questioned them better than I can AND who wants to piss off a possible terrorist. People are unreal!
RiM - thanks for that sappy moment. I went to a mini-high school reunion on Sat. night and one of the guys I went to school with has MS. I didn't realize it had gotten that bad (I'm not sure anyone did), he was walking with hand grip cruches, or whatever they are called. Well, the party was up a flight of steps (old bar w/o elevator) so a few us hung with him, until one of our bigger friends just picked him up and carried him upstairs. Turns out his wife just left him, they have 2 young sons. Sucks, and I feel so badly for him.
Melissa, no, I missed that one and I'm just as glad. I hate being startled by loud noises when I'm asleep, like those freaking sonic booms. Are y'all floody or anything?

Okay, so I said I don't like to shop, which is technically true. And cowboy boots are kind of my kryptonite, but I forgot about fabric. Moda is killing me with all of these awesome lines of fabric. When I went to Shipshe the other day I had to remove myself from the store so I didn't spend money I didn't have on about 3 different new lines of fabric. :( I need a fabric shopping spree day!

Who’s watching Celebrity Apprentice? I was watching it in bed last night, then watched some more at 4:00 in the morning when I woke up for a little while. Then went back to sleep and dreamed that I was working on a task with Holly Robinson Peete (who I don’t love), and she threw my laptop into a pond out of sheer meanness. I was incensed and went around telling everybody how I was going to sue her, and was planning the lawsuit in my sleep and was actually disappointed when I woke up and discovered it was just a dream and I have no grounds to sue her.
Kristin, I’m glad that your birthday duties are almost over. What did you end up getting your g’ma and sister?

I also dreamed that my Dad, brother and I were in a small fishing boat. We were at a family reunion, and I was sitting in the front of the boat, my brother behind me, and my Dad in the back. The boat almost ran into someone who was swimming in the body of water that we were in, and I said over my shoulder, "Dad, watch out where you are going," 'cause Dad was steering the boat.
My brother answered, "I don't think Dad is steering anymore." And I turned around and then realized that the boat was sinking underneath us, and my brother and I were chest deep in the water and Dad was nowhere to be found.
I started screaming, "Somebody call the Coast Guard" because we were very close to a dock, and people. And then I started swimming back to where we had come from, looking for my Dad. Then I felt my feet kicking what felt like a body beneath me. And I woke up.

Morning all.
I'm not in a bad mood, but I feel lethargic and unmotivated. I wish someone would take over my chores for me. If that someone would also fetch me a burrito, I'd be in heaven.
That's so weird, SW. My friend's dad was lost at sea while we were in high school; it was devastating.
And today is his birthday. Hand to God.
My goodness SW - what did you have to eat last night? That is an awful dream.
SW - I didn't have that kind of a dream, but I had a crazy dream the other night.
Background. We have a horse, Jake (now Katie's horse) and he does not do well with dogs at all. We also have a border collie who thinks that nipping at the horses is just fine. Bad combination. Anyway. The summer before Katie went into Kindergarten we were up here on vacation with horses. Long story short, Katie was petting Jake, and Rex (the collie) ran up and nipped at his face, and Jake raised his front leg up to paw/strike at the dog, and hit Katie in the mouth, knocking out her two top front teeth.
So. My dream.
I dreamt I was in the pasture with the horses, and I was in the corner, feeding them, and Rex came running up, so they were all circling at him, and I couldn't get out of the corner, and he was pushed up against my legs, and the horses were running in circles, striking out and kicking at him and I was afraid of getting kicked, so I kicked at the dog to get him out of there.
Well, in reality, I kicked. So hard I almost went off the edge of the bed. lol. Hard enough to move the bed. Kelly wakes up and is all, What. The. Hell.
What kind of burrito do you want, BD?
I would like a carne asada burrito with black beans, guacamole, sour cream and hot sauce.

I have to go out with the kids later (errands) and a burrito shop will probably be on the route. But right now I just want someone to get it for me. :)
This is nothing new...I pretty much want a burrito 24 hours a day.
When I was pregnant with both girls, I ate burritos constantly, because I figured there was a food group in every bite (because I vomited non-stop through both pregnancies). I rationalized that if I kept some of it down, I was okay. ;)
Enough about my mad burrito cravings. How is everyone? I know that SW is freaked by her dream...sorry about that. :(
I crave Mexican food pretty much all the time, and it was worse during both pregnancies. I ate La Burrita "Pete's Special" like four times a week with Cami (homemade beans, layered with rice, hot sauce and sour cream). Nowadays it's the damn fish tacos. I think it's the hot sauce.

I wish we had good mexican food here. When we went to CA a couple of years ago, my husband's niece took us to her favorite burrito truck-establishment-on four wheels and it was the *best.

Deb - those "taco trucks" are the best. I do miss that about southern Oregon, although I can duplicate a lot of stuff I really like now. Still not the same, but better than what they pass off as Mexican food here.

Margaret - We have what's called a 'gouvernement en affaires courantes/regering in lopende zaken', a temporary government if you will. That government can only make decisions regarding urgent matters and matters the 'fallen' government had almost finished. That will last until we have a new government, which will probably be well past the upcoming elections.
What is funny is that Belgium used to be famous for the art of compromise. So much for that, I guess.

SW - Clearwater Beach - Mark has a conference and it's being held at the Sand Pearl Resort, so we are tagging along. I have an uncle in St. Pete so we are going to see him while we are there too. I'm super excited - beach, water, warmth!

There was a vendor selling them at the Rendezvous thing here. She's been selling them for over 10 years, and has supposedly done very well. I bought three of hte little jar candles, which you know typically do the worst. They don't have tarts, but they have these big round disc things that sit in their own container in their version of a warmer. The company says 20 hours, she says they last longer. Who knows.

Margaret, I agree it's probably a fine place to visit but living here? The weather is horrific, the heat and humidity. It's all fun and games until you get it 9 months out of the year and have $300 a month electric bills trying to keep your small house cool. The cost of living, except for housing, rivals that in the NYC and other expensive areas. Pay sucks, though, in comparison to those area, paying some of the lowest rates in the country. Not that it matters since we have one of the highest unemployment rates in the country and growing. Our school systems leave much to be desired and if you're anywhere coastal you have to deal with tourists who think you should be damn grateful they're there when, in reality, we'd be fine without them unless we live in Orlando. Because the bottom has fallen out of our already unusually cheap housing market, homes are being snatched up by snowbirds who then move into our old, established neighborhoods and who then proceed to bitch, moan, complain and call the county over every little thing and mimic what they think is a Southern accent even when we don't have one. Hurricanes are the least of what I hate here, but our insurance rates are through the roof because the state subsidizes insurance on the expensive beachside homes no insurance company will touch, which means those of us in small, averages homes are helping to pay for their insurance as well as our own. And did I mention the heat? Heat indexes well over 100 close on half the year with humidity rates in the 80's? Lord, I could go on. There's just nothing redeemable about this place except I guess the ocean is pretty when you aren't used to being around it. In reality, the salt air coats everything and leaves you with gummy mini blinds and furniture tops and just for good measure, I hate Disney. *takes a deep breath*
RiM- that is crazy b/c I *just saw those candles mentioned, on a blog I think. Will go look it up in a sec. I'd never heard of them either but checked out the website. I am *such a sucker for good-smelling stuff, especially candles and tarts, etc.

BJ- I am a candle/tart whore. lol. (AP got me started down *that little slippery slope.) I like the Scentsy stuff a lot, but (and Kirstin, I meant to ask you ifyour sister has had this complaint) I find that lately they do not hold their scent very well at all. At first they were really strong, the latest ones I've had don't seem to last at all.
What kind of scents do you like?

I haven't burned mine, either. I have Heather & Hyacinth, Cranberry Orange, and Grass. We shall see, although Iknow the little jars are typically not a fair presentation.

I was going to say I don't like foody scents but that's not true, LOL. I love Yankee Candle MacIntosh apple. I just don't like the sweet, sweet cakey and muffin type scents.

And yes, that's the only redeeming quality of Disney. Lol, I live like 40 miles away and had never taken Jake so for Christmas when he was 12, Beth insisted on us all going for his gift. His reaction was that it's worn out looking, cheesy and outdated. Not to mention overpriced. I couldn't agree more.
I don't know about heart patients, Margaret, but it seems like old people love the heat, for some reason. My parents live in south Alabama, where it's *almost as hot and humid as Florida, and they love it there and can't stand to be anywhere there it's colder than 80 degrees F. Makes me uninclined to visit them during the summer months, ebcause they keep the thermostat on 80. I keep mine on 65. That's a big freaking difference.
BJ-- Scentsy has Home Sweet Home, or Welcome Home. I think it was the WH one I liked the most. And Sandalwood and Cranberries is the shizzle.

I know, SW. Between 2 cats and living in an older house, I'm just paranoid I think about it smelling good. My sense of smell is crazy strong, too though. Daughter laughs at me going out sniffing out cat smells all the time. I have yet to find anything that keeps its scent long enough for me either, RiM.
Oh, and AP and BJ? And any other fellow candle/smelly stuff whores? The Gold Canyon warmers are on timers, so you can turn them off at 2 hours, 4 hours, 12, hours, whatever. It you care about that sort of thing.

We also have every type of roach known to man, including the lovely flying and dive bombing variety and it doesn't matter how clean you are, you *will get those. They live in palmetto trees. We have a huge homeless population because let's face it, if you're homeless the heat beats snow. We have a huge drug problem, too. Massive. I'm sure I'll think of more.

AP did you just say that the big ole fancy pants houses on the coasts of Florida have their insurance basically paid by those smart enough to realize that Florida is a big fat target for Hurricanes? Does that mean that since insurance companies wont cover them at all and the state uses the money that people like yourselves pay for yours and theirs?
BJ - AP and I used to have this *great source for tarts. They smelled very, very good, strong 'throw', lasted really well, etc. Unfortunately she kind of went to prison for accidentally screwing the postal service out of a few thousand dollars, and we've been floundering ever since. We do like Busy Bee Candle Shop (if you can suffer through her very egregious typos) and she has some good sales every once in awhile. Her shipping is (IMO) a little steep.
Margaret, heart patients often tend to run cold, I understand. So, 95 here would be just comfortable to them.

Yes, Ma'am. Here's our state-run insurance company below, funded by state taxpayers and big surcharges to Florida residents on our private homeowner's policies. I believe around 15% of my entire premium goes to Citizen's now. Companies like State Farm and Metropolitan won't cover any coastal beachside or riverfront homes in Florida now so they use Citizen's. Nice, isn't it?

Hello All, Been a few days since checking in, busy weekend with racing opener (hubby's family runs two tracks) and family reunion...which btw was Hubby's family and he left me and the kids there alone after 10mins..how annoyingly rude is that? At least it was the family I can handle and talk to (FiL's side) Stayed there alot longer than would have if hubby had stayed so was fun.

Deb, a lot of people pack up and move here after checking home prices, not even thinking about insurance. I've got an 1100 sq foot home, small, and pay over $2,000 a year for homeowner's insurance. My deductible on my regular policy (we have 2-in-1 here, all-peril and hurricane) is $1000 but the deductible on my hurricane coverage? Nearly $20,000. Yeah. I did that to keep my premiums low but it's a shock to many people who don't do their research first.
AP that is so wrong to me...so basically there is no incentive to perhaps make a good decision and not build where hurricanes total most everything? That is so dumb because they get to rebuild on your dollar......I really hate insurance things especially when there is no consequence for poor decision making.

AP my brother lives in FL-Miami I think..he gets around the cost of living by choosing to be homeless..he has loved this way for 15 years and loves it..he does not like hurricane season though..he hates getting wet :)(per him)

Shannon, you want your heart rate to go up? After hurricanes, the beaches are so damn eroded that many of those homes have their foundations exposed and insurance doesn't cover that - insurance doesn't cover the land. So, to save these homes, the state and federal governments spend billions to replace the sand for them. It's overseen by the Army Corps of Engineers.
Ginger, we have a lot of people like your brother around here, too...they do seem to like it but it's definitely not my cup of tea. More power to him, I guess. :-)

KWYM about insurance. We pay the homeowners on MIL's double wide and it is more than our regular 3 BR 2 bath with better coverage.

Trudy, My husband lost his camera in The World's Largest McDonald's Playland in Orlando, and a few minutes later his phone rang. He had a sticker on it with his phone number/address and another customer found it and called. He was lucky that guy found it. (BTW, the Playland is one more reason AP could hate FL - it was awful.)
