Ya'll still over on the other post?

Deb said...

Rhys - how are you doing? Has the weather improved? Mark just now left for Cleveland until tomorrow, so we are both husband-less, again.

Angie said...

I posted the Paul Reuben Sandwich recipe. And I must say, the sauce *is the best part.

Deb said...

Thanks SW!

That's what she said.

life is good. the sun is out, the wind has stopped. it may rain tomorrow, but it's nice now.

I used to make to do lists all the time. I have my important to do's on my phone and it rings with an alarm.

My son is my to do list. Every morning it's the same. "Mommy, we have to do our jobs and makes beds and then wipe down the bathroom." Then it goes on to laundry etc.

Lisa said...

Helllloooo...

SW, I'm so glad to see you back. :-)

I got nuthin' today...quiet day, I'm tired and am considering a nap. Hope everyone fared well with the storms last night! I have no more unexpected leakage, so I'm good.

Oh, Disqus? Count me in among those no longer reading at MWOP because of it. Hate it.

Repost:

Here's your sappy moment of the day. Just read this on a blog, and it's such a good thing to remember.

We have no problem picking out our favorite team...or our favorite player...and cheering them on in their game. In many cases..we cheer for people we don't even know. We are not always quite as enthusiastic about offering our encouragement to those we are 'doing life' with. We need others to come alongside of us...and they need to hear us cheering for them. So throw your support behind the team of your choice ...but don't forget to cheer for those who need a little encouragement in the game of life.

Deb said...

Mulie - :)

Sandy - I hope your son feels better soon, ear infections are no fun.

It is supposed to get sunny and warm here later this week. I got my vegetable garden planted yesterday, so I'm happy!

T@iy@ said...

When I worked at the bird stores I would make excessively long lists that laid out every single thing I did then I would leave big check marks on every single thing I finished. My boss was a stickler and if he wasn't there he assumed we didn't do anything. Nice guy, really, just anal about always being busy. So I would make a list like this:

dust glass shelves
dust book shelves
dust puzzle shelves
dust Rubicon feeders
dust hummingbird window feeder display
dust seed bins
dust stained glass
etc...

haha

Melissa said...

AP-did you happen to hear the ginormous thunder around 6am? It scared the pee out of me! I slept through the rest of it though.

Anonymous said...

Pee Wee sauce - gross!

RiM - some nasty person started a new blog and referred to some Daisy women as vile - Corinne included.

We are in the midst of heavy rain, thunder and lightening - eek!

Some nut bird at work is wondering why I've not gone over and questioned a neighbor whose son got arrested in Pakistan for alleged terrorism. Hmmm, we'll, I'm quite sure the FBI has questioned them better than I can AND who wants to piss off a possible terrorist. People are unreal!

Deb said...

RiM - thanks for that sappy moment. I went to a mini-high school reunion on Sat. night and one of the guys I went to school with has MS. I didn't realize it had gotten that bad (I'm not sure anyone did), he was walking with hand grip cruches, or whatever they are called. Well, the party was up a flight of steps (old bar w/o elevator) so a few us hung with him, until one of our bigger friends just picked him up and carried him upstairs. Turns out his wife just left him, they have 2 young sons. Sucks, and I feel so badly for him.

Lisa said...

Melissa, no, I missed that one and I'm just as glad. I hate being startled by loud noises when I'm asleep, like those freaking sonic booms. Are y'all floody or anything?

T@iy@ said...

They want you to question your neighbor about something that happened in Pakistan and doesn't involve you? Hmm.... I can't imagine why you aren't over there pounding on the door right now.

Robin in Montana said...

Deb - :( (I just looked at your reunion pics -- y'all look good! :))

Margaret - get out your Nancy Drew notebook and head over there, woman!

I'm a little disappointed I didn't get listed as vile. Hmmpphh. I have *no internet history claim to fame.

Deb said...

Margaret - Let your coworker ask your neighbor the questions! I would imagine the last thing you want to get tangled up in is terrorists! GAH!

T@iy@ said...

Robin- you fell into the "others I don't have time for" category. So you are there, just not by name. Take pride in that. :D

Robin in Montana said...

Taiya-- ::sniffling::: I feel a little bit better now. Where is this blog?

Deb said...

RiM - awwww, shucks..... we had a good time, and my eyes may or may not be a little glassy from adult beverages.

So now Mark's flight is delayed 3 hours due to weather...I'll be back in a bit...we are sneaking off to have lunch together now!

kristin said...

have not caught up but wanted to say hey!

Melissa said...

AP-Nope, no flooding over my way.

T@iy@ said...

Okay, so I said I don't like to shop, which is technically true. And cowboy boots are kind of my kryptonite, but I forgot about fabric. Moda is killing me with all of these awesome lines of fabric. When I went to Shipshe the other day I had to remove myself from the store so I didn't spend money I didn't have on about 3 different new lines of fabric. :( I need a fabric shopping spree day!

Shannon said...

LOL yes I do love that list with that fabulous last line "Dont have time for all of you"...well geesh what finding the names of people who dont have an issue with their names being known seems to me to be a little pathetic in the first place :)

Shannon said...

And never mind it is just as exciting as Lyrics was :)

Anonymous said...

I didn't even know that one of the guys arrested lived on my street - I only knew they were all from the area and worshipped at the mosque nearby.

Shannon said...

Margaret I dont know why you dont want to go to your neighbors house and put them in the hot seat with your questions....dont you know that the alleged crimes of the son lay on the shoulders of the parents who raised him?

T@iy@ said...

I killed it. :( Someone say something witty.

Robin in Montana said...

Taiya-- thanks. Well, that was ... boring. I was expecting something better than that. lol.

Kelly is gone for part of this week. I am mopey. That is all.

Lisa said...

"Hmmpphh. I have *no internet history claim to fame."

Oh, like you didn't instigate a few things on the old AOL message boards...

Anyone here ever make candles before?

Sorry Taiya, I know that isn't witty! LOL

Muliebrity said...

off to my 140 round trip to the doc's office!

T@iy@ said...

Yes to candles, and witty enough for me, since I wasn't coming up with anything.

Robin in Montana said...

AP- Oh, please. GFY.

Sandy - I have not, but I would like to make soy tarts. Why? You thinking of trying it out?

AP - Before I stop speaking to you for that insinuation, have you ever heard of Gold Canyon candles? Any good?

Anonymous said...

Shannon, exactly. I feel sorry for the kid's parents. According to what I've read the parents had no idea what was happening - the boys just disappeared one day. Perhaps if people like my co-worker didn't look sideways at every middle easterner then things like this wouldn't happen. Hmpf!

Anonymous said...

Taiya was it easy to do?

I'd like to do tarts too.

Just finished catching up on weekend comments:

So I missed another few minutes of Daisy internets fame. And now we’re “vile”? That’s harsh. I am on board with white trash husband bashing etc. But vile? Cockroaches are vile. Daisies? Not so much.

Jill said: “So for all we know we are a bunch of middle aged men sitting around in our underpants, in beanbag chairs, eating Cheetos.” And surfing pantyhose fetish sites, Jill? :-)

Jill said: “Ever Googled an IP address? Sometimes it leads you nowhere, and other times it leads you to a bondage website.” Jill, your observations on life crack me up.

Rhys, I’m so happy that you are feeling better!

EL, sorry about your flood!

CK, I’m three weeks behind on Brothers and Sisters, and don’t know when I will be able to catch up.

Who’s watching Celebrity Apprentice? I was watching it in bed last night, then watched some more at 4:00 in the morning when I woke up for a little while. Then went back to sleep and dreamed that I was working on a task with Holly Robinson Peete (who I don’t love), and she threw my laptop into a pond out of sheer meanness. I was incensed and went around telling everybody how I was going to sue her, and was planning the lawsuit in my sleep and was actually disappointed when I woke up and discovered it was just a dream and I have no grounds to sue her.

Kristin, I’m glad that your birthday duties are almost over. What did you end up getting your g’ma and sister?

::going to check out the blue Eeq nursery everybody loved::

I also dreamed that my Dad, brother and I were in a small fishing boat. We were at a family reunion, and I was sitting in the front of the boat, my brother behind me, and my Dad in the back. The boat almost ran into someone who was swimming in the body of water that we were in, and I said over my shoulder, "Dad, watch out where you are going," 'cause Dad was steering the boat.

My brother answered, "I don't think Dad is steering anymore." And I turned around and then realized that the boat was sinking underneath us, and my brother and I were chest deep in the water and Dad was nowhere to be found.

I started screaming, "Somebody call the Coast Guard" because we were very close to a dock, and people. And then I started swimming back to where we had come from, looking for my Dad. Then I felt my feet kicking what felt like a body beneath me. And I woke up.

Robin in Montana said...

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Morning all.

I'm not in a bad mood, but I feel lethargic and unmotivated. I wish someone would take over my chores for me. If that someone would also fetch me a burrito, I'd be in heaven.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

That's so weird, SW. My friend's dad was lost at sea while we were in high school; it was devastating.

And today is his birthday. Hand to God.

Deb said...

My goodness SW - what did you have to eat last night? That is an awful dream.

Robin in Montana said...

SW - I didn't have that kind of a dream, but I had a crazy dream the other night.

Background. We have a horse, Jake (now Katie's horse) and he does not do well with dogs at all. We also have a border collie who thinks that nipping at the horses is just fine. Bad combination. Anyway. The summer before Katie went into Kindergarten we were up here on vacation with horses. Long story short, Katie was petting Jake, and Rex (the collie) ran up and nipped at his face, and Jake raised his front leg up to paw/strike at the dog, and hit Katie in the mouth, knocking out her two top front teeth.

So. My dream.

I dreamt I was in the pasture with the horses, and I was in the corner, feeding them, and Rex came running up, so they were all circling at him, and I couldn't get out of the corner, and he was pushed up against my legs, and the horses were running in circles, striking out and kicking at him and I was afraid of getting kicked, so I kicked at the dog to get him out of there.
Well, in reality, I kicked. So hard I almost went off the edge of the bed. lol. Hard enough to move the bed. Kelly wakes up and is all, What. The. Hell.

Robin in Montana said...

What kind of burrito do you want, BD?

Jennifer-Lynn said...

I would like a carne asada burrito with black beans, guacamole, sour cream and hot sauce.

::salivates::

I have to go out with the kids later (errands) and a burrito shop will probably be on the route. But right now I just want someone to get it for me. :)

Jennifer-Lynn said...

This is nothing new...I pretty much want a burrito 24 hours a day.

When I was pregnant with both girls, I ate burritos constantly, because I figured there was a food group in every bite (because I vomited non-stop through both pregnancies). I rationalized that if I kept some of it down, I was okay. ;)

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Enough about my mad burrito cravings. How is everyone? I know that SW is freaked by her dream...sorry about that. :(

Robin in Montana said...

I crave Mexican food pretty much all the time, and it was worse during both pregnancies. I ate La Burrita "Pete's Special" like four times a week with Cami (homemade beans, layered with rice, hot sauce and sour cream). Nowadays it's the damn fish tacos. I think it's the hot sauce.

Anonymous said...

Hi all!

I just finished typing my last philosophy paper of the year :)

EL - If songs get stuck into people's head it is NOT my fault. Nope, not me ;-D

Kristin - I'm confused and sad to see you go.

SW - That is a terrible, terrible dream. Or shall I say nightmare?

Well, ladies, we are officially sans government. I am ashamed of the politicians who rule our country. The coming elections will be the extreme right parties' dream. Fuck. If you ask me now what will become of Belgium, I will tell you that I sincerely have no idea.

twirldawg said...

I ate my weight in canned peas and tomatoes when I was pregnant.

Robin in Montana said...

Jill -- really? So crazy what we all crave, isn't it? (I'll own thinking that making creamed peas with canned peas is the bomb, though, pregnant or no)

Anonymous said...

Jill - That is an impressive accomplishment! Lol

Deb said...

I wish we had good mexican food here. When we went to CA a couple of years ago, my husband's niece took us to her favorite burrito truck-establishment-on four wheels and it was the *best.

Deb said...

Corinne - that is amazing, about your government. wow. oh, and hi!

Jennifer-Lynn said...

::scared to even look at Belgium on a map now::

Robin in Montana said...

Deb - those "taco trucks" are the best. I do miss that about southern Oregon, although I can duplicate a lot of stuff I really like now. Still not the same, but better than what they pass off as Mexican food here.

Robin in Montana said...

Corinne- that is amazing. Interesting times you are living in.

Anonymous said...

Corinne - sorry to hear that things went down the drain :(

Anonymous said...

Deb - Honestly, our politicians are weak and way too ambitious at the same time. Even if Belgium stands the test of these elections, it is certain that we have reached a turning point in our history. And not a good turning point.

It is breaking news on CNN. I don't know, it just feels weird.

When are you leaving for Florida, again?

Hi Bd, RiM and anyone else who's on!

twirldawg said...

Angie said...

Robin, that's funny about you kicking in bed!

BD said: "This is nothing new...I pretty much want a burrito 24 hours a day." I was thinking that myself about you! I bet Rhys could write a program to search old posts for BD + burrito and tell us how many times you've mentioned them!

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Sorry, SW.

Oh, okay. I thought you might be annoyed.

Robin in Montana said...

BD - nah. Burrito talk is welcome any time.

Anonymous said...

Corinne - it's truly sad when people cannot compromise to do what's best. So who is in charge now - the King?

Angie said...

I wish I craved canned peas and tomatoes. Right now I'm craving the leftover Monster Cookies I left at the coffee bar so I wouldn't eat them all. There are still some left and I'm willing myself not to go get some.

Angie said...

Annoyed by burrito talk? Never!

Anonymous said...

SW - "I was thinking that myself about you! I bet Rhys could write a program to search old posts for BD + burrito and tell us how many times you've mentioned them!"

LOL. The program would come up with A LOT of posts ;-D

Jill - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politics_of_Belgium

Fun fact : if China were to have - proportionally - as many ministers as Belgium, it would have a government of 60.000 ministers!

SW - this is on CNN - Starting today, Twitter users can send synopses of their dreams (in 140 characters or less, of course) to the Twitter handle @dreamshrink. Deb said...

Corinne - I just looked up Belgium on CNN World news, and they had a tagline for "Belgium considers burqua ban", nothing about the fall of the gov't! Maybe we're slow here to catch on.

What a relief for you to finish your paper!

We leave Thursday afternoon, Disney on Friday, then to the Gulf coast on Sat, come home Monday. I hope AP can save some sunshine for us. I'm just looking for warmer weather!

Anonymous said...

Margaret - We have what's called a 'gouvernement en affaires courantes/regering in lopende zaken', a temporary government if you will. That government can only make decisions regarding urgent matters and matters the 'fallen' government had almost finished. That will last until we have a new government, which will probably be well past the upcoming elections.

What is funny is that Belgium used to be famous for the art of compromise. So much for that, I guess.

So sorry to hear that, Kristin. Just not right. =(

Burritos- mmmmm! Of course, we have no decent Mexican food here in Georgia. My own chicken tacos and salsa will have to do for now.

I'm trying to think of new music to download to motivate me to drag the lawnmower out and cut grass tonight. Anybody have any new favorites? I have anything from contemporary christian, Third Day, to Train, GooGoo Dolls, Metallica to Lady Antebellum and Johnny Cash on my mp3 player, LOL.

Well, daughter just texted from school. Needs me to bring her a change of clothes for color guard practice this afternoon. Ummm, did I or did I not ask last night if she needed clothes for this?! AP - I retract the GFY momentarily.

There was a vendor selling them at the Rendezvous thing here. She's been selling them for over 10 years, and has supposedly done very well. I bought three of hte little jar candles, which you know typically do the worst. They don't have tarts, but they have these big round disc things that sit in their own container in their version of a warmer. The company says 20 hours, she says they last longer. Who knows.

"AP, how can you hate FL? Sorry. I know. Living there is different. But I swear I love so much about FL, I would trade you for MI almost anytime. Except July. and August. And Hurricane season."

Margaret, I agree it's probably a fine place to visit but living here? The weather is horrific, the heat and humidity. It's all fun and games until you get it 9 months out of the year and have $300 a month electric bills trying to keep your small house cool. The cost of living, except for housing, rivals that in the NYC and other expensive areas. Pay sucks, though, in comparison to those area, paying some of the lowest rates in the country. Not that it matters since we have one of the highest unemployment rates in the country and growing. Our school systems leave much to be desired and if you're anywhere coastal you have to deal with tourists who think you should be damn grateful they're there when, in reality, we'd be fine without them unless we live in Orlando. Because the bottom has fallen out of our already unusually cheap housing market, homes are being snatched up by snowbirds who then move into our old, established neighborhoods and who then proceed to bitch, moan, complain and call the county over every little thing and mimic what they think is a Southern accent even when we don't have one. Hurricanes are the least of what I hate here, but our insurance rates are through the roof because the state subsidizes insurance on the expensive beachside homes no insurance company will touch, which means those of us in small, averages homes are helping to pay for their insurance as well as our own. And did I mention the heat? Heat indexes well over 100 close on half the year with humidity rates in the 80's? Lord, I could go on. There's just nothing redeemable about this place except I guess the ocean is pretty when you aren't used to being around it. In reality, the salt air coats everything and leaves you with gummy mini blinds and furniture tops and just for good measure, I hate Disney. *takes a deep breath*

Here's where I saw Gold Canyon mentioned on the comments. http://memoriesoncloverlane.blogspot.com/2010/04/house-scents.html That was the only one mentioned that I haven't tried, I think. I do love Scentsy stuff, too.

Robin in Montana said...

BJ- I am a candle/tart whore. lol. (AP got me started down *that little slippery slope.) I like the Scentsy stuff a lot, but (and Kirstin, I meant to ask you ifyour sister has had this complaint) I find that lately they do not hold their scent very well at all. At first they were really strong, the latest ones I've had don't seem to last at all.

What kind of scents do you like?

Robin in Montana said...

Kristin, not Kirstin. Got all excited talking about smelly stuff and my fingers got all wonky on the keyboard.

bookjunkie said...

The Gold Canyon site is goldcanyon.com I also read I think on Kelly's Korner (?) one time that she loves these candles but I haven't tried them. http://www.circleecandles.com/

AP said: "Jill can speak for herself, but I'm definitely not a middle-aged man sitting in a bean bag eating Cheetos!" Me neither. Bean bags are too hard to get out of.

Robin in Montana said...

I haven't burned mine, either. I have Heather & Hyacinth, Cranberry Orange, and Grass. We shall see, although Iknow the little jars are typically not a fair presentation.

Angie said...

AP said a bunch of other stuff and then: "and just for good measure, I hate Disney. *takes a deep breath*" Ha! Well said. I've kind of liked Disney, though, ever since they got in trouble with the Religious Right by offering domestic partners benefits. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, and all.

Robin in Montana said...

AP- True 'dat. :nods: Plus, Cheetos don't really go well with vodka.

bookjunkie said...

I was going to say I don't like foody scents but that's not true, LOL. I love Yankee Candle MacIntosh apple. I just don't like the sweet, sweet cakey and muffin type scents.

I think my favorite Scentsy is home something, Home Sweet Home, maybe?

Ohhh, the grass one sounds good. I bet it smells good. I have something burning or spraying or on and melting almost all the time in this house. =)

Angie said...

BJ said: "I have something burning or spraying or on and melting almost all the time in this house." Me too, mostly to cover the sharp smell of cat urine. Ugh.

Deb said...

AP - sorry, didn't mean to stir up your feelings about FL, just tell us how you really feel, why don't you!

RF - I'm sure the princesses will be glad to hear from you! Which is your fav?:)

Jill - now I am imagining you in 4 weeks reclining in your pj's with a big bowl of cheetos with the laptop on your stomach, just to see what it's like!

Anonymous said...

AP - I wouldn't like it super steamy or like the bugs and hurricanes either. I don't do well with extremes of temperature high or low. I've really never figured out why heart patients move to FL?

Lisa said...

"AP said: "Jill can speak for herself, but I'm definitely not a middle-aged man sitting in a bean bag eating Cheetos!" Me neither. Bean bags are too hard to get out of."

I don't think I said that. Did I? I'm not one either but huh...did I really say that? I'm so confused.

And yes, that's the only redeeming quality of Disney. Lol, I live like 40 miles away and had never taken Jake so for Christmas when he was 12, Beth insisted on us all going for his gift. His reaction was that it's worn out looking, cheesy and outdated. Not to mention overpriced. I couldn't agree more.

Angie said...

I don't know about heart patients, Margaret, but it seems like old people love the heat, for some reason. My parents live in south Alabama, where it's *almost as hot and humid as Florida, and they love it there and can't stand to be anywhere there it's colder than 80 degrees F. Makes me uninclined to visit them during the summer months, ebcause they keep the thermostat on 80. I keep mine on 65. That's a big freaking difference.

Robin in Montana said...

BJ-- Scentsy has Home Sweet Home, or Welcome Home. I think it was the WH one I liked the most. And Sandalwood and Cranberries is the shizzle.

Robin in Montana said...

AP- Sorry, no,you didn't say that. It was SW. See, you two are already one. ::weeps::

Angie said...

Sorry, AP. It was Robin, not you who said that. Sorry, Robin.

bookjunkie said...

Oh, yeah, that's it, I think, Welcome Home. I'm totally out of Scentsy bars right now.

I know, SW. Between 2 cats and living in an older house, I'm just paranoid I think about it smelling good. My sense of smell is crazy strong, too though. Daughter laughs at me going out sniffing out cat smells all the time. I have yet to find anything that keeps its scent long enough for me either, RiM.

Robin in Montana said...

Oh, and AP and BJ? And any other fellow candle/smelly stuff whores? The Gold Canyon warmers are on timers, so you can turn them off at 2 hours, 4 hours, 12, hours, whatever. It you care about that sort of thing.

Lisa said...

"AP - sorry, didn't mean to stir up your feelings about FL, just tell us how you really feel, why don't you!"

I will, thanks. :-D

We also have every type of roach known to man, including the lovely flying and dive bombing variety and it doesn't matter how clean you are, you *will get those. They live in palmetto trees. We have a huge homeless population because let's face it, if you're homeless the heat beats snow. We have a huge drug problem, too. Massive. I'm sure I'll think of more.

TIME OUT....

AP did you just say that the big ole fancy pants houses on the coasts of Florida have their insurance basically paid by those smart enough to realize that Florida is a big fat target for Hurricanes? Does that mean that since insurance companies wont cover them at all and the state uses the money that people like yourselves pay for yours and theirs?

Robin in Montana said...

BJ - AP and I used to have this *great source for tarts. They smelled very, very good, strong 'throw', lasted really well, etc. Unfortunately she kind of went to prison for accidentally screwing the postal service out of a few thousand dollars, and we've been floundering ever since. We do like Busy Bee Candle Shop (if you can suffer through her very egregious typos) and she has some good sales every once in awhile. Her shipping is (IMO) a little steep.

Lisa said...

Margaret, heart patients often tend to run cold, I understand. So, 95 here would be just comfortable to them.

Florida = Heaven's Waiting Room.

bookjunkie said...

Oh, AP, we have those stinkin' huge a$$ roach things here in S. Georgia. Some people call them palmetto bugs I guess. Those things scare the crap out of me!

Lisa said...

ROFL!! You two need to work this out.

Oh, thanks, RiM. I'll have to check out Busy Bee.

I don't know who the hell said it, and I'm not going to look back! lol.

Lisa said...

"Does that mean that since insurance companies wont cover them at all and the state uses the money that people like yourselves pay for yours and theirs?"

Yes, Ma'am. Here's our state-run insurance company below, funded by state taxpayers and big surcharges to Florida residents on our private homeowner's policies. I believe around 15% of my entire premium goes to Citizen's now. Companies like State Farm and Metropolitan won't cover any coastal beachside or riverfront homes in Florida now so they use Citizen's. Nice, isn't it?

Lisa said...

Here's the link for Busy Bee...her bath products are nice, too. I have a couple of her body sprays and love them. http://www.busybeecandleshop.com/home1.html

Deb said...

I don't think I could live in FL full time, but I love to visit. I could easily spend a couple of weeks living beachside though. Plus I hate giant bugs.

Disney is just sentimental to me, i'm a sap.

Off to take Lauren to brownies, since Mark is out of town I'll probably be back on later tonight!

Hello All, Been a few days since checking in, busy weekend with racing opener (hubby's family runs two tracks) and family reunion...which btw was Hubby's family and he left me and the kids there alone after 10mins..how annoyingly rude is that? At least it was the family I can handle and talk to (FiL's side) Stayed there alot longer than would have if hubby had stayed so was fun.

I was just scanning through this post will do the others I missed while at work tonight.
Yes Kate G got 2 new shows on top of her book/tour and I am SO happy she got booted from DWTS, she was awful.
Candles love making them have done so since my campfire kid days 30yrs ago...I do unscented for me due to asthma but make scented for family members. I am sure i missed something but I will catch up on it later "monsters' are due home soon..actually already...probably playin on way home

Deb said...

AP - the insurance thing is amazing, I had no idea!

Anonymous said...

I just bought a candle making kit. It says "Warning Melted Wax Is Hot". Uh...okay I'll remember that.

Ginger said...

Sandy- lol the candle making company doens't want to go through a McDonald's thing and pay someone a million dollars for no warning

Lisa said...

Deb, a lot of people pack up and move here after checking home prices, not even thinking about insurance. I've got an 1100 sq foot home, small, and pay over $2,000 a year for homeowner's insurance. My deductible on my regular policy (we have 2-in-1 here, all-peril and hurricane) is $1000 but the deductible on my hurricane coverage? Nearly $20,000. Yeah. I did that to keep my premiums low but it's a shock to many people who don't do their research first.

Shannon said...

AP that is so wrong to me...so basically there is no incentive to perhaps make a good decision and not build where hurricanes total most everything? That is so dumb because they get to rebuild on your dollar......I really hate insurance things especially when there is no consequence for poor decision making.

Angie said...

"Florida = Heaven's Waiting Room." Move over Sunshine State! AP's got a new slogan for FL!

Anonymous said...

My Evil MIL is a snowbird..."Florida = Heaven's Waiting Room". Do you think she knows something and isn't telling us?

Ginger said...

AP my brother lives in FL-Miami I think..he gets around the cost of living by choosing to be homeless..he has loved this way for 15 years and loves it..he does not like hurricane season though..he hates getting wet :)(per him)

bookjunkie said...

Hey Ginger. Glad the family reunion thing worked out ok in the end.

Funny on the wax warning. As much as I spend on candles, I should probably try and make some of my own. Thanks for the Busy Bee site, AP.

I'll BBL. Gotta go get gas for the lawnmower and motivate myself to cut grass.

Lisa said...

Shannon, you want your heart rate to go up? After hurricanes, the beaches are so damn eroded that many of those homes have their foundations exposed and insurance doesn't cover that - insurance doesn't cover the land. So, to save these homes, the state and federal governments spend billions to replace the sand for them. It's overseen by the Army Corps of Engineers.

Lisa said...

Ginger, we have a lot of people like your brother around here, too...they do seem to like it but it's definitely not my cup of tea. More power to him, I guess. :-)

You're welcome, Bj.

Ginger said...

AP- I am hoping he changes after he gets his degree, he finally went back to college and is actually on the Dean's list (woohoo for him :)) I think he will have a hard time getting a job without an address in the area. Would be nice to go visit him but want to wait until he has a place we can go visit when not being tourists or in hotel room

Trudy said...

I think i forgot my camera at the house of blues in myrtle beach. SHIT

Really Frugal said...

AP, sorry I asked. It was me, not Margaret.

KWYM about insurance. We pay the homeowners on MIL's double wide and it is more than our regular 3 BR 2 bath with better coverage.

Deb, I have no favorite princess. I love them all, and all of the Magic Kingdom. I recently saw anew through the eyes of a 4 yo.

Trudy, My husband lost his camera in The World's Largest McDonald's Playland in Orlando, and a few minutes later his phone rang. He had a sticker on it with his phone number/address and another customer found it and called. He was lucky that guy found it. (BTW, the Playland is one more reason AP could hate FL - it was awful.)

Really Frugal said...

Was it something I said? sorry....

Lisa said...

RF, it wasn't you...I was cleaning litter boxes. All the talk about smells made me nervous so I scrubbed them with Pine-Sol.

Trudy, did yo ucall HOB there? That sucks.

Deb said...

RF - You know, you just reminded me - I keep meaning to put my contact info. in my camera, just in case a good samaritan finds it in the event I leave it somewhere. Especially with this trip coming up, I'm going to print something out right now. Thanks!

Deb said...

Trudy - and I'm sorry to hear about the camera - worth calling them though for sure.

Shannon said...

AP that thing about the sand is un-freaking-believable.....can we say our tax dollars hard at work LOL

Rhys, I'm on lexapro too - and it keeps me from staying in bed and hiding under the covers.

CK! How are you today?

Shannon said...

LOL I just noticed that CK...but there is of course a new FRUITCAKE post.....got I love that she chose that name for her new site it is so fitting for her.

Lisa said...

Shannon, the sand thing makes me ill.
CK, I guess there's no point to Lyric now or something. Who knows with that one?

PJ said...

I'm decent, AP. And you?

::supposed to be working::

Shannon said...

Yeah I bet AP....I just cant quite get the whole thing at all....I am sorry but Hurricanes WILL hit Florida. Why make those who are intelligent about where they put their homes pay for people to get new sand so they can build until it happens again?

Lisa said...

I'm about the same as you, CK. And I'm supposed to be napping. ;-)

Shannon, I think the reasoning is that if people can't get their stupidity taken care of, they'll leave and if we have a mass exodus of people in higher priced homes, it'll screw with our tax base. Just guessing there.

Angie said...

Hi CK! I hope you have more work inspiration than I have today. I've been a bum.

Shannon said...

There is always some kind of reasoning to justify such things but darnit I like living where such things dont happen :)

Hi SW - not very exciting product returns - so I'm floating back here between every item I enter.

Teaching is inspirational, to say the least. Kindergartener pulled his twig out and peed on the playground while outside for PE on Friday.

While standing in line with other students.
