My dinner tonight is an iced mocha made with this recipe. It's my new favorite. I'll only make 1/2 the recipe next time though b/c a gallon of coffee is a lot for 1 person.

"WTH.. a keeper?! As opposed to not a keeper?"

Maybe she considered giving him as a prize. Would that violate BlogHer rules?

bookjunkie said...

Oh my, AP! Well, I hate to hear of someone losing their life but sounds like he had a lot of troubles and caused troubles for others, too. Sick.

bookjunkie said...

Ok, blogger, don't fail us now. You've been behaving so nicely today.

T@iy@ said...

I am going to drag myself into the kitchen and work on fixing a naked Abby with some frosting. Any helpers? I'll share my kitchen utensils in the case of any mutiny!

Angie said...

Hey R2!

AP, was Tom still friends with creekbed Rick in recent years?

Shannon said...

HAHAHA you snuck in when I was gonna sneak in R2

Angie said...

Did you drive in to work today, R2?

Robin said...

Hi Shannon and SW.

Shannon, I can sneak out? Would that help?

Angie said...

I planned to eat leftovers for dinner, but then I got really hungry and the devil made me order Dominos. :-(

bookjunkie said...

Hey Robin. I can call you Robin b/c I never knew you as R2. =)

Thanks, Mr. Blogger. Sorry y'all, just wanted to see if I could coax him over to the next page.

Back to work. Check in later.

Angie said...

Hey there, Shannon! You're too giggly to sneak well, girl.

Shannon said...

So I was bummed because I wouldnt be able to participate in any way with the silent auction....you know cause I have nothing to donate and because I am sitting on my wallet with my last $70. Well I can now purchase something!!!! I got home today to discover that I got almost $1800 that I was NOT expecting from school. Apparently they didnt calculate my Pell Grant into my spring financial aid and just send me the check!!!!

SOO WOOOT WOOOOT Maybe I can get one of Rhy's prints :)

Shannon said...

Nope sorry R2 once you sneak in you are stuck :)

bookjunkie said...

Dang, Shannon. Now, that is a good day. Congrats! I want one of her prints, too.

Shannon said...

That is sad that you can tell that through the internetz :)

The damn LOL's that I do all the time really are me.....I am the cute bubbly one what can I say.

Shannon said...

BJ I got one of her prints for my mom for Christmas....she LOVES IT!!! And I had to convince her that no it wasnt a painting it really was a photo. Rhys and her husband Rock have got some AMAZING eyes for photos.

Robin said...

I did drive today.

I stayed up all night Tuesday. No really, all night. Jeff has cluster headaches, and he had a doozie Tuesday night. And he had to get up REALLY EARLY Tuesday morning. So, I stayed up all night to make sure he was up when he needed to be.

Needless to say, I was exhausted. I went into work and came home early yesterday, so I could make my dermatology appt. After I got home and Jeff got home, we both went immediately to sleep. It was something like 4:00 pm?

I slept until 9:30, when I had a series of odd calls from two of my kids about the other kid being in the hospital. It took me about an hour or so to figure all of that out, then I went back to sleep, and slept until 7:00 this morning.

I really needed that sleep. ALL of it.

But the last bus leaves out at 8:00, and there was no way I was gonna rush my ass around to catch it. So I drove today.

Anonymous said...

I can't get my friggin backspace key back on. WTH!

Um...when can we take our armour off? I'm getting a little sweaty and having hot flashes.

Robin said...

Hi, bookjunkie. :)

I'm a book junkie myself.

Angie said...

I hope it worked out okay for your sick kid, Robin.

Shannon said...

R2 I meant to ask you how Seth is doing? I know when I was last with you on SIP there was some tension but things were getting better?

Angie said...

Did things work out okay with your kid and kid-in-law, R2? I've been thinking about them.

Robin said...

He's fine. It was a misunderstanding caused by a meddling, elderly Grandmother.

Robin said...

My kid-in-law and Grandson live here now. It's all still up in the air.

Time will tell. On the plus side, I've seen my Grandson recently.

Me and the Grand at the Atlanta zoo:

Robin said...

Hi BD who is not Bella. :)

Robin said...

Shannon--Seth is doing fine. He's a pain in the ass, but I love him anyway.

Robin said...

Thank you for asking. :)

Shannon - $1800 - did you shake your wallet at the last full moon?

Ditto on TWG's photographs - they are out of this world!

tumbleweedgirl said...

hi

i'm back. i did talk about vitamin d. i have been told 10000iu is safe OTC. obviously prescription ones are higher.

i have nothing else to add

Muliebrity said...

I was going to tell somebody something, but now I forgot.

twirldawg said...

Mulie that happens to me all the time.

tumbleweedgirl said...

ap

i'm tired. i don't have it in me to explain the difference to me between 'all' and 'alot'. i'm just going to apologize.

sorry.

i know not everyone who flies it is small minded. but there sure are a heck of a lot.

south living: raleigh, richmond, greenville, columbia, and i've spent time in austell, rural MI, and rural LA - but never lived there.

Robin said...

Me too.

Robin said...

Or was that three?

Robin said...

Austell? As in Austell, GA?

bookjunkie said...

I bought vitamin D today but it was Dollar General vitamin D so may not be up to par, LOL.

And got the cranberry Dial. Had zero patience to deal with Wal-Mart this afternoon. Um, why did I think running into Dollar General would be any better?

I'm a crazy person and get energized when it's cloudy and rainy, not so much when it's sunny. Maybe I need vitamin D.

Shannon said...

Thanks for reminding me Rhys. I got my script....50000iu but I only take one pill once a week for 12 weeks. That is when I go in to have my blood levels rechecked for the cholesterol and stuff too.

And I went out and bought grapefruit, apples, and broccoli....I am so not a fruit and veggie kind of girl but it is a start.

Shannon said...

So R2 the DIL and grandbaby are with her mom? Is that working out ok for the two of them?

And I so get son's that are PITA's but you still love them anyway. Chris is still alive, he is getting better but is still getting into small amounts of trouble at the same time.

Robin said...

I take Vitamin D every day. It's a component in the calcium I also take every day. It's supposed to help your body absorb calcium.

Muliebrity said...

Oh, I remember, BD, I'm Dec 1977!

tumbleweedgirl said...

robin

austell GA

just visiting some of Rock's family. the south is full of nice people. i can't tell you the ambivalence i feel towards the south, it would take too long to explain

Shannon said...

I take the calcium +D but apparently my D levels are so low that the small amount is not cutting it at all.....I wonder if I need to stop the cal with D now that I am taking the prescription? I may need to call and ask about that lol

Robin said...

I'm glad Chris is still alive!! :-O

So far it's working out with DIL and her Mom, but that thing has a time stamp on it. I worry when the stamp comes due, because she will certainly want to move in here, and I just can't see that happening.

twirldawg said...

Austell, GA rhys? That is where my husband and Richard were born. Rick's high school was in Austell.

Small world.

Robin said...

I'm in the South, Rhys, and right next door to Austell. In fact, where I live and Austell are so intertwined, I can't really go anywhere without driving through some part of Austell.

I'm glad to know you think there are SOME nice people in the South! :)

Shannon said...

:) I am glad he is too some days though I wonder how it happens like that

It is good that things are going well with the two of them....hopefully by the time the stamp comes due she will be able to get her own place and you wont need to be an option.

tumbleweedgirl said...

Rock's family is full of the graciousness and kindness that the south wishes to be known for. they've done and are doing missions work around the world.

the thing that completely endeared me to his mom was showing her my mom's picture.

'o', she said 'she is so pretty! and you look just like her'

not one single comment about her coloring and what that background might be. i suppose the nicest thing i've ever had said about my mom was the thing unsaid.

Robin said...

That's what I'm hoping for, Shannon. She is working. And my Grandson is in the same daycare and same class as Jill's son.

Which reminds me to ask you, Jill, have you met Jaiden yet?

Angie said...

I'm glad you get to spend more time with your grandson, R2. That's cool.

twirldawg said...

Robin no not yet, he is dropped off and picked up before I get Richard.

Robin said...

Oh SW, I DON'T get to spend more time with my Grandson. They've been here, what--5 or 6 weeks? I've seen him twice.

They were supposed to come over on Easter. Never called, never showed. Were supposed to come this last weekend for a family thing I had here at my house--she called and canceled. So, I've seen him, but I don;t really "get to see him."

She's been a bit of a bitch, but there's really nothing much about that that surprises me.

Robin said...

I wondered about that, Jill. She has to be at work at 7:00 am, and is off by 3:00. So, her hours are very different than yours.

Angie said...

No spoilers, but lordy, Survivor is good tonight!

Angie said...

R2, that sucks. I'm sorry your SIL is that way.

Robin said...

Is there a new Grey's tonight?

I'm sick of reruns! I need a good Grey's fix!

Muliebrity said...

Oh, and JM looks as big as I do too! Her poor uterus!

Robin said...

Argh. I just checked. Grey's and Private Practice have switched times tonight. PP is a new episode, but Grey's is a repeat.

What's up with that? Why are there no new Grey's?

**grumpy face**

Angie said...

SIL = DIL

I had the same thought about Grey's. It seems like there are never new episodes of that dang show!

Robin said...

Mulie--where did you see a pic?

I thought her post about McFlurry was reasonable. It's not a huge deal, the VSD, just a concern and something to watch.

I feared she would make it a drama-fest.

bookjunkie said...

My daughter was born in Austell! Cobb Hospital. But we only lived in the area for a short while after that. Husband was from NE GA, close to Helen and we moved there but in S. GA now. I miss being close to Atl.

Robin said...

OK, I'm checking out. I didn't mean to dominate the convo.

I mean, I might hang for a bit, but I'm shutting up.

Good to "see" you all.

Angie said...

Holy guacamole! Survivor! I need to talk about it! Ahhhh!

Angie said...

Good to see you too, R2!

Lisa said...

BJ, thank you for the iced mocha link! I've tied making it for ages and can't get it right. I bet soaking the grounds instead of brewing the coffee is the trick. Can't wait to try this!

SW, Creekbed Rick lived with Tom and Michelle, has for maybe the last year. Tom could support him but not Jake. I'm so thrilled to share that. *eyeroll*

Sandy, your backspace key might be upside down. Or backwards or whatever. Oh my keyboard, the clips are different on each side.

PJ said...

Robin,
Give JM some time to make it a big deal. I think she's only gotten started.

Can somebody tell me about the vitamin D thing? I too am very tired, putting on weight. My over the counter tablets only have 500 in each, and the bottle says take three times a day.

Not even close to the levels you're all recommending!

Off to watch Private Practice - Violet is baaaaaaccckkk!!!!

PJ said...

Thyroid level is fine - I get that checked every fall. I'm on sythroid too.

PJ said...

Robin,
You sure are a cute grandma!

Lisa said...

"i'm tired. i don't have it in me to explain the difference to me between 'all' and 'alot'. i'm just going to apologize.

sorry."

No need to apologize and not a problem, Rhys. After this afternoon, it's most certainly not anything I care to discuss further here anyway.

Shannon said...

It was one of the specific tests on the blood panel my doctor ordered that is how I found out mine.

Angie said...

Wow, AP. That's just hard to understand.

Robin said...

Thank you, CK.

I tell everyone I started having kids when I was 12.

It's not true, of course, but it works for me.

:)

OK, shutting up now, really. Off to watch PP, and the return of Violet.

Lisa said...

SW, I know. I don't get it in the least but somehow they thought it was just fine to do. Drugs will do that to you, I suppose.

bookjunkie said...

You're welcome, AP! I was so glad to find that recipe, too b/c I've tried everything. This really does work pretty good. I've had to kind of play around with the measurements of coffee/milk depending on how strong I want it but am definitely hooked on them, especially for summer.

Lisa said...

BJ, I'm thinking of summer, too. It's so hot even in the mornings that I can't do hot coffee come June or so. This will be perfect.

twirldawg said...

BJ small world.

AP something happened this afternoon?

I'm so confused.

T@iy@ said...

Where was Violet? I haven't watched PP in quite some time.

Angie said...

I think I pissed AP off this afternoon during the rebel flag discussion, Jill. I'm sorry about that AP. I thought we were just having a spirited discussion, but I must have crossed a line.

Anonymous said...

I LOVE Violet!

PJ said...

Margaret - were you a Judging Amy fan?

Muliebrity said...

Robin, JM has the pic on twitter.

Anonymous said...

Never watched Judging Amy. Violet looks a lot like my step-mother.

CK - how does inheritance tax work? Do you have to pay it when you get the money or wait until you file your return?

twirldawg said...

SW ok, I thought I had totally missed something.
I skimmed that conversation after I gave my $.02 cause I'm a wuss like that.

Robin said...

The only way we make meaning with each other is by our agreement on the meaning of symbols.

Communication on the Internet wouldn't even be possible if we didn't all agree and understand that the symbols we use (letters) to convey pieces of information (words) have a certain meaning when we used them. It just wouldn't work if we didn't all agree that "blue" meant a color.

When it comes to the Confederate Flag, there is a huge disagreement on the meaning of the symbol, and that complicates communication. For some it means one thing, and for others, it has a completely different meaning.

At the end of the day, it's still just a symbol. I can't see where people will ever agree about the meaning, because the symbol has been charged with so much emotion.

I don't know if that helps in any way. It's something I've thought about a lot. The Confederate Flag doesn't bother me as a symbol as it was intended to be. It has been corrupted, and I resent those who would use it as a symbol of racism and oppression. It spoils it for everyone else, no matter how they see it.

Lisa said...

No worries, SW. There's just a massive difference between a spirited discussion, which I love, or even a heated debate, which I love even more and plainly nasty, thinly veiled insinuations. It'll pass. I just need to step away from it in order to keep my own mouth shut now.

So, who is watching Project Runway tonight? They're going to Bryant Park!

T@iy@ said...

No PR here. Not even sure what it is.

Took some tylenol and in a little while am taking some unisom. Have to wait for the cupcakes to bake, otherwise I will flake and wake up at 4am to them on fire in the oven.

Angie said...

AP, the last thing I meant to do was make insinuations about you, thinly veiled or otherwise. My word choices may have been poor, but I wasn't meaning to imply anyone I've met here is in any way racist. If that's what you thought, then I'm extra sorry.

Lisa said...

Oh, Taiya, PR is the finest fashion designing competition on TV! It's what brought us Christian Siriano and my own favorite, Jeffrey Sebelia. I know you probably don't care - I'm just trying to keep you awake. :-)

Lisa said...

Really, truly, it's okay, SW. You want to come watch PR with me?

T@iy@ said...

I should check it out. I've heard a ton about it, but never saw it. I am seriously miserable at remembering when things are on and what day it is so I hesitate to watch much TV, for fear I am going to get hooked to a show. Then I get super bummed when it is the next day and I missed it.

Robin said...

Thanks, Mulie.

I don't do Twitter.

Lisa said...

Taiya, the series finale is starting tonight but give it a shot next season. If nothing else, it's worth watching to Tim Gunn.

Angie said...

::heading to AP's house::

Lisa said...

R2, you don't have to have a Twitter account to see JM's. You can see it here.

I think it's impossible not to. Have you ever seen him interviewed? He is the *sweetest, most gentle man.

Lisa said...

Lol, Margaret. It'll take more than this, I suspect. Goodnight. I'll send you a picture and description of the bracelet I'm donating tomorrow. I hope I don't forget and thanks again for this. :-)

T@iy@ said...

I'm too cheap, Jill. :D

twirldawg said...

Taiya between Hulu, Netflix, and Network sites you can catch anything on the Internet.

T@iy@ said...

That's pretty much what we do. Hulu and Netflix are about all we watch. We have cable, but only because it was less to get cable, phone and internet than to get the phone and internet without cable. Go figure. Matt just happens to be watching 30 Rock, but it's been about 3 weeks since it's been on. I <3 Hulu.

PJ said...

Margaret, are we talking about a lot of money? There's a huge amount of an estate's value that is excluded for federal tax purposes.

It also depends on monetary gifts given before death.

Which state? Different states have different rules.

T@iy@ said...

Took a Unisom, my cupcakes are done, and Matt is going to put Cocoa Butter on my legs and feet(because I can't reach them very well and they ITCH) and then I am going to do my darndest to sleep.

AP, who's going to win?

Josh and Rya said...

Thought I'd pop in and say hello.

Hi!

Anonymous said...

Stopping by to say hi, but won't be on long. I am not a complainer, but there is something really wrong with my back. I thought it was sciatic pain, which I still think it is, but now I am having burning and numbness all the way down my leg. I'm on my feet a lot at work, and I think I have been compensating unknowingly, so my knee, calf, and ankle are extremely sore as well. Bah.

My excellent insurance kicks in on May 1, and I picked the doctor I work for as my primary, so I am writing myself an order to get lumbar-sacral MRI done (with his blessing, of course).

So sorry to come in and rain down my shit parade upon you, but it's Thursday and my patience is worn thin.

Josh and Rya said...

So a 29 year old in Marshall, MO won the $285 million powerball.

Bummer, Bella. So do you have to wait until the 1st to see somebody?

Anonymous said...

Hey J&R. I need to win the Powerball!

I do need to wait to the first for the MRI. I have been seeing my employer (a physican) and he's been prescribing me an anti-inflammatory and a muscle relaxant, but I need the MRI to determine what the heck is going on. If it's positive, then I need to see an orthopedic guy, depending on what it shows. I'm just afraid I have a crapload of blown discs or something. I did roller derby pretty aggressively for about three years, and I threw my back out more than once falling and such. We'll see.

Anonymous said...

And, on a psychological note, my mother is the QUEEN of back problems, fibromyalgia, and such, and is a chronic complainer. I'm terrified I am going to start channeling her, so I never make a peep about my back pain to anyone. Jay didn't even know until last week, when he heard me squeeking when I was trying to get out of the shower. I need an old-lady handrail in there.

Josh and Rya said...

Roller derby? Cool.

Even us thirty year olds start to feel it.

I had baby fever for a slight second the other day, but I was snapped out of it by my screaming kids and overdrawn bank account.

kristin said...

Anonymous said...

I had baby fever yesterday. I *never have baby fever. A man came in with his two year old daughter to the office, and she was just a doll. And her father reminded me so much of Jay...a big, gentle guy who was a cutie. The way he was with his daughter...it was just so great. You could tell how much he loved her. At that moment, I wanted to go home and make a baby.

I told Jay this last night, and he just blinked at me and said, "Can we get married, go to Jamaica and drink lots of Red Stripe there first?"

So, we're thinking of eloping around March of '11.

Oh, Bella, that sounds miserable. I really hope you can get some relief from that soon. And can I just say that whole roller derby thing is kinda hot? Adding in as I read along, congrats on the possible '11 nuptials! :-D

RF, I won't spoil it for anyone but the one I wanted to win came in second. I didn't even like this designer a lot but I liked their collection better than the other two collections. What did you think, if you watched it? SW, what about you?

Bella, They had a hell of a time finding it because it was in an odd position for the imaging to catch it, so I suffered for years. Once my angel neurosurgeon found it, I had a microdiscectomy - they removed the damaged disc material through an incision probably three inches (looks like an extended butt crack). One night in the hospital. I got six weeks off work, but really after two weeks I felt I could have gone back. The morning before surgery I could not walk from the pain. That afternoon I was pain free for the first time in years.

Kristin, sorry to hear about the break up. That's tough. :o(

Shannon said...

Kristin I think that once the shock wears off you will know that everything that happened is for the best. Maybe have been better if not on a night you had so much going on but I really hope that things go better for you now.

Hi, Tara, how's your Friday night?

Shannon said...

Well if you have on demand it is worth the watch

AP, I thought the second place collection was the most wearable, but the designer has been arrogant to often for me. I really liked the winner best as a person. Like I know them.

kristin said...

Thanks everyone - I am going to bed.

Goodnight!

Shannon said...

Kristin we all love you and I hope you have a great night sleep.

Kristin, I agree with Shannon. It would have been easier, too, if it had been clearly your choice, your timeline. But it's possible too that some time and space will change things. Get some sleep. See what a new day brings.

Friday? It's only Thursday...

Gosh, just what I need...an extended butt crack.

Kristin, just take some time, take care of yourself and LM. I'm not a know-it-all, but I have been in a position similar to yours. It was hard as hell, but I am in a much better place now. Hopefully you find what is right for you. Goodnight!

Hey Tara! :)

I was thinking that too Tara. For a miute I was pissed at you b/c you got to the weekend first somehow!

Tara. said...

Hi Bella! How are your.... elimination issues?

EL: Maybe AP is across the pond today?

LOL it isnt Friday night at all dammit even you damn East Coasters are only having Friday dark and early!!!!

San Leandro got banned from MWOP, so she has to find *somewhere to slum, I guess.

Lisa said...

It's Friday here...lol...just not night.
Oh, shut up.

Kristin, if you're anything like me, it sucks that you didn't get to be the one that did it. That's bother you the most. It doesn't matter than you wanted to, it's the fact you didn't do it first. And yes, again, everyone can shut up. I know it's not an admirable trait but at least I own my control issues.

Tara. said...

Oh good! I'm so glad to hear that all is well. :D

I wish it was Friday night because that would mean I wouldn't have to get up early. My kids have PJ day at school tomorrow, so at least I don't have to lay out clothes tonight for them!

Tara. said...

Who is San Leandro?

Lisa said...

RF, I wasn't thrilled with any of the designers this year, really and agree about the arrogance of that one. The one that won, though? Could not *stand on a personal level. Of the three, personally,I probably most liked the one who left first although not their clothing. Did you see the after show? I want to smack Mia and I can't rightly tell you why.

Tara. said...

AP: I very much understand what you're saying, I definitely have control issues.

Warning: long post as I desperately try to keep up on a handful of topics.

Is it awful that I can’t remember who Cheryl was? Seriously I have trouble keeping some of the online handles apart, especially from SIP and definitely from OHIH. Can somebody remind me of something distinct that might help me remember?

I am trying to figure out what happened with Sandy and an email from a teacher, and something about her husband or something, but I am so behind I may never find out. Whatever it is Sandy, I hope it works out for you. I think you’re overdue for a break, you know?

Corinne: that’s very interesting! My son has an Atlas binder we’ve been building and we do have the Belgium page so I knew about the Flemish / Waloon points but not much more than that and certainly not that there was a history of discord, anyway. Very interesting. I hope that settles soon without any long-term effects.

Laura, I’m sorry for your loss. And for the ensuing complications, that’s going to be difficult.

RiM: sorry to hear the situation about Kelly’s parents remains unchanged. They sound stubborn, but what can be done? That sounds so so difficult. I’m sorry.

Kaytie: Pregnancy changed my body too definitely, I’ve never been able to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight or shape. But I *loved being pregnant, so much, and although I loved holding my sons when they were born I did miss the being pregnant and feeling them move around part. Is that weird? I dunno………. I’ve been gaining some weight too, it’ bugging me. Thyroid’s in check (I take levothyroxin too), and I seriously think that starting messing with other subsequent (but genetic) problems, cholesterol, hbp. But happy thoughts… at the age of 40 in medieval times, I’d be dead probably.

Kristin! How are you feeling? Hoping for smooth transitions for you as you work things out.

Sorry I know my post is a little jumbled, I’m trying to jump in a few topics I know a little about.

Not sure who's still on but hello!

::hee, hee!::

Blogger thought he was going to eat that last *really long comment I posted but I was working on it in a saved Word document because I was trying to catch up and put together a comment simultaneously.

Screw you, Blogger!!

::shaking both my fists::

Bella: you can get banned from MWOP?

Anonymous said...

San Leandro=Evil Grandma.

Anonymous said...

FT, now that MWOP went to Disquis for commenting, it is possible to ban IP addresses, from what I have read.

And hi, FI!

Anonymous said...

FT! I meant FT!

Lisa said...

Lol, FT, you're cute. Cheryl travels a lot for (I think) a greeting card company. She goes out of the country a lot. That's probably what most set her apart.

Tara, San Leandro is GM.

Tara. said...

Oh man. She just won't go away, huh? I'm such a dork, I thought that was someone's blogger name. Ha!
Don't feel bad FT. I didn't really know who Cheryl was either. She sure knows a lot of us though, keeps tabs and hands out tongue lashings. I got a couple, not fun. :o( I guess she has a lot of time to read while she travels?

Nilia said...

Hi Bella and AP!

The travelling a lot bit rings a bell...

Tara. said...

Oh, it's broken again.
