I love Tarantino! He's so quirky!

What an adorable boy!

Shortround is making me want a baby so badly :)

Babeeeeeyyyy

KaytieJ said...

YAY Jeff Bridges! He seems like such a down to earth guy, even with his back ground!!! Whhooo Hoooo!

Muliebrity said...

All this Oscar ass kissing is bland.

Muliebrity said...

I love Jeremy Renner. Sad he lost. :(

Lisa said...

Hey, can someone do me a favor? Can I have the link again to the SIF BF? I'm really not familiar with her but want to go read. Think it would be okay to jump in?

And Shortround? Is precious.
FT, you have no idea how tempted I was to photoshop a blue cord in there, though. ;-)

Muliebrity said...

Jump on in, AP!

Muliebrity said...

Oprah lost some weight for the Oscars!

Nilia said...

AP: blue cord, LOL!

Poor Shortround. I had the BlackBerry a few inches from his face for the longest time waiting for that silly smirk babies make sometimes and then everyone thinks they're smiling. So this was the expression I got, LOL!

Nilia said...

Hey is that a dimple? Oh it would be too much if he had a dimple, too!

Nilia said...

Okay I finished calculating my marks for my last class. I can technically fail 5 kids in one strand. Then I start waffling. This is crazy, when kids fail all their tests, they should fail on the report card, right?? Their tests go home for signature so can the parents be surprised??

Crap, thats 5 phone calls it appears I have to make tomorrow so 5 parents dont hit the roof.

Lisa said...

I think it could be the beginnings of a dimple, yes!

Mulie, thanks for the link!

Shannon said...

Oh not fun FT. I know with my son he kept failing classes because though he did excellent on tests he did not do homework so it was never a surprise.

Muliebrity said...

I can't believe Sandra won?! And what the hell was Sean Penn talking about?

KaytieJ said...

Ohhhhh....Sandra Bullock! She is so gracious...and she showed a bow, humor to the others. I am sad that Meryl did not win it, though.

Muliebrity said...

And Sandra's biceps are huge!

Nilia said...

(my apostrophes and other punctuation is acting up, pardon the apparent errors)

Thanks for the link, Im going to jump into a conversation on languages!

KaytieJ said...

And so are Sandra's dimples :-D

Nilia said...

Shannon: I dont report on homework completion (and I rarely assign French homework), the classroom teacher does. Although I do record it and share with her because sometimes anomalies happen.

None of these kids failed term 1. I usually get a slide in term 1 from the so-so kids. I have been warning them for weeks that a few will get a nasty surprise. Thats why I feel I have to follow through. And when I say fail, I mean 26% 28% 24% 28% and 35% (based on 2 written tests and 1 written group assignment). Nobody is really near a passing percentage for me to slip them through, even if I wanted to.

Muliebrity said...

And now Barbara Streisand is crying. She finally got a her woman winner. It wasn't Hillary, but at least it's a chick.

Nilia said...

Sandra won?? Thats awesome, a razzie AND an Oscar!

Muliebrity said...

I love war movies and Jeremy Renner, so I am happy the Hurt Locker won! Yes, I have a thing for guys in uniform.

KaytieJ said...

Night all! Haven't seen the Oscars in ages and this was such fun!

Muliebrity said...

FT - I love that she accepted her Razzie in person. She is one cool chick! I bet Oprah is pissed!

Nilia said...

Oprah pissed is not a bad thing, Mulie. :0)

Sandra seems like a regular person, I can totally imagine her pranking people, and crying at sad movies, and eating ice cream right out of the container.

BTW, Sandra Bullock was someone who did skinnify for the camera. Some years back she was starting to put on weight, I guess, I remember closeups of her thighs (cellulite) when she was a guest on some talk show, so mean. I mean she looks awesome slim and everything. Im hoping she did it just for herself, you know?

Nilia said...

And AP, I think the title of todays post is so funny!

Lisa said...

FT, I'm glad you thought it was funny. As soon as I saw his face, I thought it looked like he was about to throw out a pickup line. ;-)

Muliebrity said...

FT - I'm sure Sandy hired a trainer for the Oscars!

Muliebrity said...

What'd you think, AP?

Muliebrity said...

Of Sif's BF, that is.

Lisa said...

Mulie, it looks interesting and I like that it isn't JM's. I'll jump in. I need to catch up on MWoP, too,

Muliebrity said...

It's cool because there is a whole new group of people who were SIF's blog readers there too, so there is a whole new range of topics.

Nilia said...

Mulie: she may have hired a trainer, at that, I dont think Ive ever seen her that slim but she does look fabulous, esp in that dress.

Well Im going to shut this down and try to wrap up my report cards (almost done). Just sent my principal an email giving him a heads up on the fails. I hope tomorrow is uneventful, last week was just awful.

Goodnight, everyone.

Muliebrity said...

Have a good one, FT!

Lisa said...

Okay, I posted at SIF, then read her blog. Wrong order, it seems, for me. I won't be going back there...sorry.

Karen said...

Why is that AP? I haven't read at either, just bookmarked the site so that I can go back and read her BF later - but whats up with them?

Karen said...

Shortround is SO adorable!! I hope he gets a real name soon though!!!

Lisa said...

Karen, she's a single woman seeking treatment for infertility/sperm donors/IVF. There is nothing in any part of her life she considers most important to her that I can agree with or condone. To post there is showing acceptance of it and I can't do so.

Karen said...

Ahhh I understand now - I haven't read her blog or her bf so I didn't know - other than the name single infertile female, but didn't know that she was trying to find a donor and get pregnant or whatever... Will have to investigate it.

But I'm not sure I agree with the fact that if you post there, you accept or condone or agree with what she is doing. She is providing a place for women to express their views on alot of various topics, and it sounds like she allows whatever opinions, even if they differ from her own... ?? So posting there doesn't necessarily mean that you condone what she does... or at least I don't feel like it does.

Just my opinion...

Lisa said...

I know, Karen, and what you say makes sense. It's my own comfort level at work. For me, I need to pass.

Karen said...

Understand AP - can only do what feels right to you.

Karen said...

I can barely keep my eyes open again, and tomorrow we're helping my mom move some of her kitchen and bathroom stuff to her new apt. and getting her set up - so its gonna be a long day - she's moving from the 2nd floor of an apartment building into the 11th floor of a big high rise apt. building, and its going to be alot of trips up and down with all these boxes of kitchen stuff. The big move with the truck is next Saturday but she's been packing so much she's stacked with boxes, so it will work out for us to take some stuff over there and put things away before the truck comes with all the big stuff.

Night all!

kristin said...

Well it's 6:30 and I think that i got maybe 1 hour of sleep. Little man has been whiney and has had a fever all night. He is in my room watching a "moobie" and I will call the ped's office as soon as it opens. I thought I could go into work but he is too needy and I don't think SO could handle it. SO isn't feeling well either, his stomach is bothering him again.

oops, good morning ladies!

Anonymous said...

Good Morning Ladies.

FT, he is one handsome baby.

Kristin, sorry LM is not feeling well.

kristin said...

Thanks Sandy!

He just fell back to sleep - going to call the doc in about 2 minutes.

His poor cheeks are all red :( No other symptoms other than fever though and general whinyness.

Kristin- Sorry your little guy is sick. :(

Karen said...

Kristin - sorry you and LM had a bad night - hope you can get into the doc soon!! At least you won't have to work today!

Angie said...

Morning all! I'm beat from staying up late watching Oscars/getting ready for housekeeper, but I made it. Wrote on the birthday cake this morning at my desk. E-mailed secretary a happy birthday message. Don't know what time agonizing cake ceremony will be.

Kristin, I'm sorry LM is sick. I hope he feels better soon.

Mulie, your Barbra Streisand/Hillary comment was cute! Has your husband seen the Hurt Locker? Did he like it too?

AP, this new "judgey" side of you is kinda hot. No it isn't really, but if I said it was "interesting," Corinne would snicker at me. She thinks I use "interesting" too much.

Angie said...

FT, Shortround is the bomb!

Karen said...

We will be off to help my mom today as soon as Patti gets home, she is on a job interview today - hope it is a type of job she will enjoy - it seemed like it would be very similar to what she was doing in NY and she liked the work, so hopefully this will work out for her!

I have to go clean out my microwave stand and another little white stand storage thing we had in our bathroom in NY - we are giving them to my mom to use in her new apartment and have to take it over there today - so I need to find a new place for all this junk!!!

Angie said...

Luck to Patti on her interview, Karen! And I hope the move goes smoothly for your Momo.

Lisa said...

Morning all!

Karen, I'll echo all the good luck wishes for your family today. Let us know how it al lgoes!

Kristin, sorry both LM and SO are sickies. I hope they both get to feeling better today and I hope you can get a nap in somewhere.

SW, I love how heartfelt you are about the cake. ;-) If I were you, I'd say something you probably ought not say to get that party going. ;-)

Lisa said...

Taiya, I just think artificial means and man-made efforts to help conception are wrong. I think it's second-guessing wrong, saying that God made a mistake. I'm not comfortable with that.

SW, it's not new and I'm not any more judgey than anyone else is on certain things. We all have our deals we think are wrong and pass judgment on them. I'm just more prone to say mine, I think. And I'm not sure *hot" is a good word for it...or anything I do, though. ;-)

T@iy@ said...

Thanks AP, curiosity rules me a lot. :)

T@iy@ said...

Any peanut butter dessert suggestions out there? My hubs is turning 27 tomorrow. He isn't big on 'normal' cakes, but loves PB, so i thought i would try something different. Normally I do cookies every year. I was thinking maybe a cake, cheesecake or something. I am googling right now, but I would rather have a tried and true referral if there is one.

Lisa said...

Taiya, I can relate to the curiosity thing!

No help on the cake, sorry, but happy birthday to your husband.

Lindsay said...

Good morning ladies!

I heart Shortround. What a cute bundle of baby to see first thing in the morning. It *almost makes me want another one, but then they grow up and punch each other in the face before school. Ugh.

Mulie, that video was awesome! Lenny Kravitz cracked me up and boy, Sting is looking rough, isn't he?

Muliebrity said...

Sting had a beard all winter when he was out promoting his last album, so I guess that's what his face actually looks like. Everyone looks worse in HD. IMO.

T@iy@ said...

Mulie- you should warn a pregnant woman about the possibility of peeing your pants laughing when you post a link! Can't wait to show my hubs when he gets home. He is a huge Kimmel fan.

Muliebrity said...

I never watch Kimmel, but was up late and it followed the news cast after the Oscars. I just had to share that one!

Tara said...

HI I am from OHIH (lurker) then MWOP. I visit here some and read. I know there are lots of OHIH members here. I am trying to find the person who cooks Indian food. I am wanting the Butter Chicken recipe that was posted on OHIH.
Can anyone help me or direct me to their blog?
THANKS!

Lindsay said...

OMG Mulie - I was laughing so hard I nearly peed my pants and I'm not pregnant! That made my day!

KaytieJ said...

Morning all~
Mulie...LMAO at the Kimmel video! That room was mega amped with Testosterone.

Kristin-Hope your LM gets over his fever quick!

Karen-good luck with the move-that is a lot of stairs to be climbing.

SW-agonizing as it is for the work BDays, it is really nice of you to take the time to make that cake :::ducking:::

AP-that is one of the things I love about ya. No sitting on the fence! :::whistling and swinging my legs:::

Lindsay said...

I don't know - I still found Sting hot. I like grey hair I guess.

Tara - I'm not sure who posted the Indian recipes. Sorry.

Muliebrity said...

Lindsay, I am with you. He may be looking rough, but I'd still do him!

KaytieJ said...

Lindsay-agree with you about Sting, might be the accent, too. Apparently a few others liked the video as well. Look down at the sitemeter :-D

Lindsay said...

The accent doesn't hurt. Or the mystique about him and his tantric ways. Or his loyalty to his wife. IDK. He's always done it for me :)

Lisa said...

I think Rhys posted the Indian recipes. I wonder if Won would mind if someone who still has SIP access got those recipes for Tara? And hi, Tara...welcome. :-)

Muliebrity said...

I think I follow Rhy's blog. Not sure which one though.

Muliebrity said...

She hasn't really updated in a while, or at least not the blog of hers I am following.

Angie said...

AP, lord knows, I'm the queen of judgement! I am the most judgey person I know, seriously. Just another way we're compatible! :-)

Welcome Tara! I have the SIP recipe thread, and will look for the recipe. I don't remember it being on there though. I don't have the OHIH recipe thread.

Taiya, I have the PERFECT peanut butter dessert recipe for you. It's super easy and so good! The recipe is below:

Frozen Peanut Butter Pie
Serves 8.

Shorty's Mexican Roadhouse
Bedford, New Hampshire

Ingredients:

3/4 cup graham cracker crumbs
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons (packed) golden brown sugar
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
1 8-ounce package cream cheese, room temperature
1 cup creamy peanut butter (do not use old-fashioned kind or freshly ground)
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups chilled whipping cream
Purchased hot fudge sauce

Mix graham cracker crumbs, 1/4 cup sugar and brown sugar in medium bowl. Add butter and stir until blended. Press mixture onto bottom and up sides of 9-inch-diameter glass pie pan. Refrigerate while preparing filling.

Beat cream cheese, peanut butter, vanilla, and remaining 3/4 cup sugar in large bowl until smooth. Using electric mixer with clean dry beaters, beat cream in another large bowl until stiff peaks form. Gently fold whipped cream into peanut butter mixture in
4 additions. Spoon filling into prepared crust, mounding in center. Freeze until firm, about 2 hours. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cover and keep frozen.)

Warm hot fudge sauce according to package directions, if desired. Cut pie into wedges; serve with hot fudge sauce.

You can double the recipe and make it in a 9 x 12 rectangular metal cake pan, if you’re feeding a crowd. If you do that, just press the crust into the bottom, and not up the sides of the pan.

Lisa said...

I do too, Mulie. I think her email is on there, too. I just happened to think - Robin may have those recipes, too. I know she and Rhys talked about Indian food several times.

Angie said...

Oh, that recipe calls for creamy peanut butter, but I use Jiff Extra Crunchy, cause I like crunchy.

Lisa said...

Okay, I'm hollering for help here, y'all! I need to figure out how to put a side link to our recipe blog on this place. I can't believe this shit has me stumped since I'm usually pretty good with things like that. If someone knows how, can you speak up and help me out here? If you lurk and prefer email, it's anemonepie at yahoo dot com. Please and thank you!

Angie said...

I survived cake time! And it wasn't as bad as usual. There was actually a few seconds of non-painful conversation!

Angie said...

I wish I could help ya, AP. I'm a blogging doofus. I hope we didn't leave all the techie ladies at SIP, cause then we're screwed.

Anonymous said...

Hi ladies :)

It's a shame I couldn't watch the Oscar ceremony (I mean, technically I could have but I'd have had to stay up until 3.30 am). It was fun reading your comments. And Charlize Theron's dress was fugly.

FT- Shortround is so cuuuuute :-)
(BTW, I saw you asked which actress is always rude during interviews. That would be Scarlett Johansson. The brother of one of my dad's coworkers works for a TV channel here and he got to interview her at some point. He said she was the rudest person he'd ever met).

Angie said...

Hi Corinne!

Lisa said...

SW, it's killing me because I used to do webpages for people and was pretty damn good with html coding and such. I altered all sorts of stuff on this one and my own but this one thing is stumping me. I suspect I'm over-thinking it but I'm giving up now and I'll beg.

Angie said...

AP, begging should work. Maybe some lurker is a blogging genius and will help out and then delurk and join us. The new people we got lately are awesome!

Anonymous said...

Hi SW!

The recipe sounds great :)

AP- I have no idea how to do that. I hope we can find someone who can help you with that!

Robin in Montana said...

Good morning, all! I don't think I've been around since Friday, so if I missed anything amazing, please tell me!

FT -- That Shortround is so stinkin' cute! He is adorable, really.

Kristin - Sorry about your little boy -- that's no fun!

We got the rental house! Yay!

I have now managed to work out 5 days in a row, including another 5 a.m.-er this morning, so I'm happy about that.

Tara - I don't have any recipes from OHIH, but I thought somebody rescued them at some point. I can ask over at SIP when I post over there, if you'd like. I know the Pioneer Woman just had a butter chicken recipe on her Tasty Kitchen site, but ... I don't know about her. She posted a chicken picatta recipe this morning that violated two rules that I feel as strongly about as AP does about single women and IVF. :-) No capers in her piccata, and she adds cream. Wrong on many, many levels. So ... trust the butter chicken recipe as you wish.

Anonymous said...

Hi RiM! Congrats for the house, that is awesome!!

So, does PW add cream in *everything she cooks? Because, hello, no one needs to have sky-high LDL cholesterol levels!

Robin in Montana said...

Hi Corinne!

I don't think I've ever seen a pasta recipe from PW that didn't call for cream. I noticed in the comments that several people said adding cream and without capers makes it not piccata. lol.

In another note, PW links to Pastor Ryan's website, who is apparently currently in Kenya on the Compassion tour with the Whackjob.

Oopsie Daisy said...

Okay, it's not perfect but there's a link for our recipes up now. :-)

Anonymous said...

RIM, If you go to Pastor Ryan's website, there are pics of JM and RV. I don't remember which post though.

PW adds cream to cream. That's why I don't like her recipes.

Oh and good morning again!

Robin in Montana said...

Hi, Sandy! Yes, I looked briefly at PR's site and saw a picture of Jennifer. Small world, even on the ol' web, I guess.

In a side note, anyone watching March Madness?

Anonymous said...

Cool, AP!

RiM- I heard that PW linked to 'This is reverb'. This whole Kenya Compassion whatever trip reeks of insincerity.
About two days ago Mck, who is still in Kenya, posted a long-winded post that only she knows how to write to say that she would not answer her detractors. Who does that during a trip that has supposedly broken them?! Is this woman for real?

Anonymous said...

Pastor Ryan also contributes to recipes on PW's site.

Anonymous said...

Hey Sandy!
LOL @ 'PW adds cream to cream'

Robin in Montana said...

The fact that she even *acknowledges her detractors means she spends a lot more time thinking about them than she wants to let on. lol.

AP - I just saw that link!

Robin in Montana said...

Yeah, I've made the Pastor Ryan Mexican Lasagna recipe. It was good, but it made a TON. I have an extra huge, really deep lasagna pan, and it was all but overflowing that and weighed seriously like 10 pounds by the time it went in the oven.

T@iy@ said...

SW- PERFECT! And I always substitute crunchy for creamy because Matt doesn't like the creamy. That will be great!

Anonymous said...

RiM- I think that Mck doesn't realize that people aren'ty jealous of her, just weary of her holier-than-thou condescending attitude. She is an authority in *nothing. Not marriage, not religion, not parenting. Her, giving marital advice? Is tantamount to me giving financial advice. It is worth nothing. She has been married 5+ years during which her 'd'H managed to get TWO DV charges and they lost two homes to foreclosures.

Why would anyone be jealous of her life?

Lisa said...

"Why would anyone be jealous of her life?"

Corinne, I've asked that many times. I truly don't understand how anyone could be jealous of her with two exceptions: 1) They desperately want to be married. To anyone, it doesn't matter, just married and even with that low standard, no one will marry them and 2) They can't have biological children. Okay, I thought of a third one - someone who is such an fame whore that they put that need for that above their family, faith, *everything and still don't get the fame they want would be jealous of the little bit of fame she is getting now. Otherwise, I just can't think of a reason why.

Lisa said...

Robin, congrats on the house - that is so darn exciting!

Does anyone here hear from Megan? I don't have her email...if anyone does, could you ask her if she'd mind her Mexican lasagna recipe being posted here and if she's like credit for it or not? And while you're at it, invite her over here, too. ;-)

Robin in Montana said...

AP - I talk to her every once in awhile -- I'll ask her. I really don't think she'd mind, but I'll ask first for sure.

Lisa said...

Thanks, Robin. I love that recipe!

Melissa said...

Taiya-if you want something for your hubs that isn't a "cake" but includes peanut butter qualities you could try peanut buter balls. I saw the recipe on Bakerella's site. Let me know if you want more info.

Robin in Montana said...

AP - I sent her an email, and I'll report back!

Angie said...

AP, good deal on the recipe link! Did someone help you, or did you figure it out?

Now for a little boring intellectual property law on recipe copying: From a legal standpoint, there's generally no problem copying and pasting someone's recipe. A list of ingredients isn't copyrightable. You can't copy a person's cookbook and post it online, because that would be taking too much of their protectable expression, but a recipe is generally considered fair game.

I just wanted to throw that out there in case anyone thinks there's a legal problem taking a recipe from another website and posting it here.

T@iy@ said...

Thanks Melissa!
I actually have a family Buckeye Ball recipe that is AWESOME, though! My daughter and I made some for him a couple of weeks ago actually (although that was more of a 2 year old monkey's distraction tool than a need to make cookies... )

T@iy@ said...

What does OHIH actually stand for? I know kind of what it was, but what do the letters stand for?

Angie said...

OHIH = Our Hummus is Homemade

Anonymous said...

AP- What you're saying makes perfect sense and explains why her sheeple are so...sheeple-ish but why doesn't she realize that none of her haters (well very few of them) actually envy her? Because, really, there is nothing in Mck's life of which to be jealous. ;-)

Taiya- Our hummus is homemade

Anonymous said...

I should refresh before posting. Duh.

SW- Love the copyright law info. If I were to be a lawyer, I think that's a field that would interest me. That and competition law (I think that's called antitrust law in the US, right?).

Josh and Rya said...

I know I'm late to the game, but I just started reading the kiddie condom post and it reminded me of a question my son (6yo) asked me Saturday-

Mom, what does sex mean?

Uhh, why is my husband never around when he throws out the tough life questions?

He knows the real words for all the parts and where babies come from, but I don't think we have explained exactly how the babies get in there. I told him its how babies are made. Ok, he replied. I'm thinking I need to buy an age appropriate book to have handy!

T@iy@ said...

Thanks.

Melissa said...

Taiya-Ok. Just thought I'd throw that out there. I don't have a real Buckeye recipe so I've been using the one from Bakerella. I just don't think hers are peanut buttery enough.

kristin said...

Congrats RiM on the house!

Angie said...

I don't know anything about antitrust law, Corinne. Nada. You should go to law school. I don't remember what you plan to do when you get out of school, will you refresh my recollection?

Hi J&R! There's an awesome book for kids called "Where Did I Come From?" that has cute cartoon pictures and explains sex from start to finish. I highly recommend it. I don't have kids, but have recommended it to friends with kids and my friends liked it.

AP: Good job on getting the link up! You have always done such a nice job with your websites.

SW: Thanks for the copyright info-not boring at all!

Two more days till my 6 night stretch. :::eyeballing stack of paperwork::: Nah...I think I'll stretch out in the sun and watch the tulips grow. May not be a good idea, though. Last time I did that I ended up wanting to dress up like Lady GaGa :-D

Robin in Montana said...

AP - Megan emailed back and said she's totally fine with you posting her recipe, and that she'll drop in and say hi one of these days!

Josh and Rya said...

Sounds like a plan, SW. Thanks!

T@iy@ said...

None of that. Happy to share the yumminess! :)

Buckeye Balls
1 Stick Butter or Marg. softened
1 3/4 cup creamy PB
1 Tsp. Vanilla
1 lb. Confectioner sugar (about)

Chocolate coating:
12 oz Chocolate chips
1 Tbsp Crisco
(Add a tsp. or so of wax- hardens better)

Cream butter, PB, Vanilla together. Add conf. sugar until consistency is reached (Not too sticky, not too crumbly- takes some practice. Good news is the crumbs taste just as good when not in a ball!). Roll into 1" balls, place on waxed paper cookie sheet and place in fridge for about an hour.

Melt chips & shortening in double boiler (or microwave). Using toothpicks dip candy in chocolate, return to cookie sheet, refrigerate. Makes 8 dozen.

SW- I'm going to rule the world. Duh. :P

I will most likely not go to law school (although I think I would love it) because in Belgium, you have to have a Bachelor's degree in law to go to law school. I have a double major in economics and sociology, so those will be my bachelor's degrees.
I'm not sure what I want to do afterwards. I'm really interested in the financial world; maybe something in the field of stock market analysis?

I obviously still have some time before deciding anything but what you're telling me is interesting.

Taiya- I second RiM! Post your recipes :-)

Angie said...

Hey Jill, I'm watching the Crimson Tide football players live at the White House with the President. It almost makes me hate them a little less!

Angie said...

Corinne, you can do that. My "work spouse" has a good friend from law school who came over from Germany for law school, and is now practicing in Germany. I don't know the ramifications regarding the extent to when you can go back to Belgium and practice law there. You should do some googling.

Anonymous said...

See you, Taiya!

SW- Trust me on this, if I ever manage to leave Belgium, I will not be coming back. Long story...
I will do some googling :) Thanks for the info!

Angie said...

Corinne, I look forward to hearing the long story some day! Like when you and I are practicing law together here in Alabama! :-)

Only here could we go from Indian Butter Chicken to Buckeyes! Anyway, thanks to everyone for asking / checking around. If anyone finds it (or a link) I would appreciate a comment here about it. And I'm LOVING the new recipe list here - these kinds of sites are my favorite for finding and trying new recipes because you can always ask a questions about it if needed. Thanks again.

LOL, SW! :-)That story is long AND highly uninteresting. It would be called 'The thousand reasons why Corinne D. hates Belgium'. :P

I'm logging off for today! See you all tomorrow!

Hi!

The Butter Chicken recipe is mine. At least I assume it is because I made a fantastic butter chicken.

Do you want me to post it here, or on Chicken Fried Daisies?

Jennifer-Lynn said...

I posted it on CFD.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

But...it is subject to moderator approval, apparently.

So here you go:

Chicken Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken)

1 tablespoon oil (preferably peanut, but olive or vegetable/canola will do in a pinch)
1 shallot, finely chopped (can be omitted if unavailable)
1/4 yellow onion, chopped (white is also fine)
3 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 tablespoon fresh peeled ginger
2-3 cloves garlic, peeled
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 cup plain yogurt
1 cup heavy cream (half and half can be substituted, but not fat free half and half. Trust me.)
29 oz. can tomato puree
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste

1 tablespoon oil (see note under oil above)
1 pound boneless, skinless chicken cut into bite-size pieces (I use a combo of breast and thigh)
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 pinch cayenne pepper
Salt and pepper to taste

1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 cup water

Puree ginger and garlic together, and set aside.

Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large saucepan over medium high heat. Saute shallot and onion until soft and translucent. Stir in butter, lemon juice, ginger and garlic combo, 1 teaspoon garam masala, chili powder and cumin. Cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Add tomato puree, and cook for 2 minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in heavy cream (or half and half) and yogurt. Reduce heat to low, and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and set aside.

Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large heavy skillet over medium heat. Cook chicken until lightly browned, about 10 minutes. Reduce heat, and season with 1 teaspoon garam masala and cayenne. Stir in a few spoonfuls of sauce, and simmer until liquid has reduced, and chicken is no longer pink. Stir cooked chicken into sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Mix together cornstarch and water, then stir into the sauce. Cook for 5 to 10 minutes, or until thickened (I will sometimes omit this last part, depending on whether I use heavy cream or half and half. I prefer to use cream, and when I do, I don't need to thicken the sauce). Serve with basmati rice.

"AP, good deal on the recipe link! Did someone help you, or did you figure it out?"

On my own but I've always been able to do this much on my own. I wanted a link without the header saying "Other Daisy Links". What, me? Anal?

J&R, don't questions like that suck? It sounds like you handled it well, though.

Robin, thanks for asking Megan and I hope she does stop by - I miss her!

"But...it is subject to moderator approval, apparently."

Are you fucking serious? I swear, some days I can't do a damn thing right. I'll go fix that, BD, and thank you for posting it...it looks great!

KaytieJ said...

BD-starting to gather up the things to make your butter chicken. Sounds delicious-TY! And, Buckeyes are in the fridge :-D Yummmmmm!

Jennifer-Lynn said...

My pleasure, AP.

Off to run errands!

Oopsie Daisy said...

OK, BD, it's fixed now and your recipe is up. Thanks for mentioning that!

Angie said...

BD, it's interesting that it's called "Butter chicken." It could have just as easily been called "yogurt chicken" or "heavy cream chicken." Maybe Indian food doesn't usually have a lot of butter?

Muliebrity said...

Kristen - Sorry your little dude has a virus, but i do think it's better to have it checked out. Are you giving him Motrin and Tylenol? I also give my guys extra probiotics when they are sick. I have a chewable tablet from the health store.

Tara said...

BD - THANK YOU! I am so glad to find that again! I will now head to the grocery store for the hour or so it was take me to find all those ingredients (ha ha)and prob. make it tomorrow. I'll post if I have questions. Thanks again.

Lisa said...

Kaytie, you made those buckeyes that fast??

KaytieJ said...

It is so easy...I love it! Done with just the balls. She said to put them in the refer for an hour. Still have to dip the balls in chocolate. I also like it that the recipe does not have eggs-that way I could sneak tastes of the batter-Yuuummm!

In the interest of trying to eat all healthy-like, I roasted some beets for lunch. I take back what I said the other day about never having met a roasted vegetable I didn't like. ::shudder::: Next time, steamed with butter. Gross with a capital G.

Robin in Montana said...

Where ARE you hags??? I'm bored and don't want to work!!

kristin said...

What do you guys watch during the day? There is nothing on! lol!

Doing laundry. Seems little man is feeling better. He is playing with a flashlight and his fever is down to about 100.

Thanks for all the kind words!

kristin said...

lol RiM!

kristin said...

When do you get the house RiM?

kristin said...

Call us hags and then disappear? WTF!

Oh, and laundry while 3 yr old is awake - not a good idea!

Robin in Montana said...

We can move in by the 1st. My landlords will advertise this one about halfway thru the month saying it will be available the 1st, so depending on whether or not they get it rented, it may be a little bit of a cluster-eff there for a day or so.

And I never get a chance to watch t.v. during the day, but I'd say your best bets are going to be reruns on Bravo or that sort of thing. I'm not sure what you like.

kristin said...

very cool! Are you excited? Do the girls like the other place?

I was hoping LM would sleep and I could nap too, no such luck!

Robin in Montana said...

Yes, they like it a lot. I took them by there this morning before school to look in the windows, so they're all busy planning where they're going to put crap, lol. This house (it's bizarre) has no closets in either of their rooms, so they've kind of had their hanging stuff spread out from our room (which also has crap for closet space) and in the two coat closets, etc., and this house has huge closets in each of their rooms (you know, like a normal house) and big closets in the hallway for all their games and other crap that I'm constantly riding them about to keep picked up.

No napping? Hmmm. Benadryl, my friend. lol.

Yeah, Jill, we're done with the daisies and into porn now, haven't you heard? ;-)

Did you watch Big Love last night? I'm confused because I missed what Adele (is that her name, Nikki's Mom?) learned that made them want to sedate her. What does she know?

Muliebrity said...

It's been a busy day in BlogFrog Land! Too bad real life interfered with my online life. I hate it when that happens!

Robin in Montana said...

Hi Jill. I'll stop posting pictures of my boobs, if that will help. :-D

Robin in Montana said...

Killed it with my boobs, didn't I ....

Muliebrity said...

There can never be enough pictures of boobs, Robin!

Shannon said...

Hey guys....let me say it has been one HELL of a day already. I have meant to catch up here about a dozen times but once again I am being responsible and doing school work and have barely kept up on the BF drama...Funny thing too is that that Mom of 3 whatever is the same one that was giving issue like a week ago LOL

So yeah anyway my ex's truck was stolen last night/morning. It is his work truck and still had the trailer attached with the air compressor and generator. Yeah we got it back but all his work stuff is gone. At least he got the truck and trailer back.

But between that and school it has been a hell of a monday.

Robin in Montana said...

Mulie - That's what I think, too.

Shannon -- HOly crap! I know you know, but check pawn shops. My ex had a bunch of stuff stolen off a jobsite in Grants Pass and I found a ton of it about six months later.

Muliebrity said...

Shannon, Are you that involved in your ex's life? What's the point of having an ex if they don't stay away? lol

Robin in Montana said...

Mulie -- She LIVES with her ex and his wife! And her husband. And kids. (Right? I don't have that screwed up?) At this point I couldn't do that -- I'd be in prison for carving someone up with a paring knife.

Shannon said...

Yes RiM you are correct we all live under the same roof.....and before Mulie lets her mind hit the gutter there is no hanky panky going on or feelings still involved LOL

Shannon said...

Yep tomorrow I am calling the pawn shops. I have already been all over Craigslist. The police report has been made and hopefully we can get it all figured out. It just sucks because that truck and those tools are his lively hood and Josh (my husband) goes to work with him everyday.

Robin in Montana said...

Shannon - I definitely understand the kind of impact that has on a contractor. None of that stuff is replaced cheaply.

Muliebrity said...

You all are one big happy family? That's kind of awesome!

kristin said...

Very cool RiM - glad they like it!

Boobs, boobs and more boobs!

Shannon - that sucks! :( I know here, if they have serial numbers - they send the list of items with SN's to the pawn shops so they can't accept the items, or they buy the items, and police are notified or something like that.

Shannon said...

Unfortunately the contractor that he works for doesnt have the serial numbers but I am betting if he went through his receipts he will find it again. The police officer did tell us to make very good descriptions. Such as the generator has little stickers on it so it will be obvious either with them or if they tried to remove them.

KaytieJ said...

Shannon - Rotten day is right! Sure sorry that happened, not to mention the money involved it creates so much extra work and hassle. Hope his stuff is tracked down soon!

twirldawg said...

SW she saw the eggs JJ was harvesting.
I ending was interesting. Nikki looked so pretty, but is still BSC. I kept waiting for a Margine, Anna, other guy 3 some.

Shannon- that sucks. I hope you find the stuff soon.

Shannon said...

Thanks guys I am just hoping it can either be located or replaced quickly. Nothing like big old piles of shit being thrown in the way...at least though we got the truck back.

His wife and I were teasing that he did something with it because he wants a new truck but if that were the case he would have made sure that he got his stuff out of it first.

Angie said...

LOL re BSC, Jill. I haven't heard that acronym used before.

Shannon, sorry abut the theft. Maybe he'll get lucky like AP's Jake did. Here's hoping.

Does Dancing with the Stars start tonight? I guess I'll have to watch, even though that annoying Kate Gosselyn will be on it. Ugh. Wait, it may not be on tonight. I just read on EW.com that Jason and Molly's wedding will be on ABC. Who gives a shit about those assholes?

My aren't I positive tonight?

On the bright side Gossip Girl is back! My embarrassing teen show addiction.

twirldawg said...

I love GG!

KaytieJ said...

Buckeye Balls - Done! Delicious! They are like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups-one of my favorites, only better because they are lighter. I stuck some in the freezer to see how they would taste that way. Thank you again Taiya!
No go on Butter Chicken :-( Went out to the freezer and just have beef. Picked out some flank steak though and have it marinating in a balsalmic vinegar/garlic/molasses mix I threw together. Will broil them for dinner later tonight. As a side I made my great grandma's slaw. It is vinegar/sweet based (not mayonnaise). Making cornbread and adding corn kernels from cobs we need to use up or give to the chickens. And no, I do not use our chickens for meat-have to get my buns to the grocery store for that so I can make the Butter Chicken!

KaytieJ said...

Robin - Congratulations on getting the house. How exciting-lots of work-but still exciting. Especially to have closets! This old house hardly has any and it drives me nuts. AP relayed to me that you have or had horses? I'm here if you ever want to talk horses!

Angie said...

Oh good, Jill! I don't have anybody too talk about GG with!

Lisa said...

Kaytie, save me some dinner! Jake's out tonight so I just made myself frozen pizza. Yours sounds much better. And if you ever get a chance, could you post that slaw recipe on the recipe blog? I'd love to have a good, tried and true cole slaw recipe that's lighter than a mayo version.

T@iy@ said...

Evening, all!

KaytieJ- you are quick! I got all of the stuff for SW's PB pie, but haven't started it, yet. Really had to give my back and belly a rest. OB pokes and prods and baby responds by kicking and shoving. :) Going to go get it prepped and in the freezer in a minute.

My real life interfered with my online life today, too. It is going to take me a while to catch up.

Lindsay said...

Howdy! I, for one, would not watch that stupid wedding with "those assholes" for all the tea in China. Ugh. I will watch "Chuck" tonight. My most favoritest show.

Hope y'all had a great day and are having a good evening.

Nilia said...

I'm watching House, check out the description:

House treats a blogger (guest star Laura Prepon) who writes about her experiences in the hospital and exposes secrets from the team's past.

My favourite line so far spoken by the blogger's husband (accusing her of changing why she blogs):

This thing that you do it's not about connection anymore. It's about an audience, it's a performance and you've got one eye on the number of hits. You've turned our lives into their entertainment.

Tee-hee!

Laura Prepon plays Donna on That 70s Show.

Lindsay said...

FT - Wow. And they say art imitates life :p

Nilia said...

Shannon: sorry about that theft. So sorry, how discouraging.

Kristin: hope LM feels better real soon.

Thanks for all your gushy Shortround comments, I of course think he's stunning and miss him already even though I just saw him on Saturday.

I hope I didn't miss anyone, I am caught up but trying to do too many things at once!

Nilia said...

Oooh, RiM: congrats on getting the house. Yay for closet space!

Lindsay said...

Oh and before I forget! FT - I am insanely jealous that you get to hold that round bundle of sweet baby. I need someone I know to have a baby STAT!
