Monday morning confusion.

FT found these and took a picture for us.  I'm pretty sure there's a sign telling you you can't stop to read the signs.  :-D
Feel free to send your own odd photos and stuff to be posted, please!

Howdy.

That looks like my life. :)

Lisa said...

BD, that's just scary.

KaytieJ said...

Yowza! I'd get a ticket and probably a rear ender just trying to read the damn signs...Reminds me why I did not drive in San Francisco when we lived there!

Jennifer-Lynn said...

I'm going to have another beer. Anyone with me?

Lisa said...

Yes, please, to the beer. Because I just grabbed a can of what I thought was Publix brand Dr. Pepper and poured rum into it, only to find out it was grape soda.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Yikes! Although I enjoy grape soda.

Well, maybe once a year.

::passing Hefeweisen with lemon to AP::

Lisa said...

Kaytie, maybe you should stick to driving horses. ;-)

I have some questions for everyone...does anyone garden? Anyone go strictly organic with it? If so, what to you do for bug issues? I try to go as organic as possible but the bugs finally get me in the end and I wind up spraying with chemicals, something I'd like to avoid this year. I have Jerry Baker's books and use his ideas, but still seem to get bugs that his more natural ideas won't stop. Any suggestions?

The great unknown has to be better than grape soda and rum, so thanks!

"I LOVE SPRING BREAK" and a few days off myself :-D
We demossed the roof, blew the walks, cleaned the gutters, fertilized the yard and roses. I did a rib roast with mashed sweet potatos and spinach salad with feta and cranberries. DH to bed early 'cause he has to work in AM, but son and I are staying up watching all our favorite standup comedians and eating popcorn and apples.

AP - I am still trying to read that Health Care Reform pdf so I can keep up with y'all on it and contribute something to your blog. And THANK YOU for providing a venue to post opinions about the Health Care Reform. Sharing ideas, and facts on it is essential for many of us to digest and get our minds around it. I refuse to be one to just be told by the government and Representatives that this is how it is and just suck it up, live with it, and pay for it.

KaytieJ said...

Delicious Merlot here...clink!
use Dr. Earth products AP on my roses and nonedible bushes. For my garden, I pretty much let them be. Sometimes my tomatoes suffer because of that, but at least I know they are not sprayed. So far, all of my other edible kitchen garden things thrive without sprays.

Lisa said...

Going to bed...or going to try to.

Kaytie, your night sounds nice. :-) Thanks, too, for the info on gardening. I'm going to check into the Dr. Earth products tomorrow when I'm more alert.

As for the health care thing, I'm just thankful for anyone who wants to read that bill, think on it and offer up thoughts, even if I don't agree. It's okay to not agree, on either side. It's not okay to just not care, in my book.

Goodnight all. Sweet dreams to you. :-)

Morning Ladies! Spring break is over and the kids are going back to school today. **doing happy dance**

Angie said...

LOL Morning and Congrats Sandy!!!

It was nice having the kids home (yes I said that) but hubs was off for the week too. So really I had three kids home. LOL

T@iy@ said...

ha @ spring break over! Enjoy your kid free time, today. :)

T@iy@ said...

I have my coffee, sunshine pouring through my windows and our 1/4 of a cow ordered. :) It's going to be a great day! No matter how much laundry and cleaning is on my To Do list. :)

Anonymous said...

Hey Taiya, what do you get in a 1/4 of a cow? Been wanting to do that for a long time.

T@iy@ said...

Basically whatever we want, I guess. After they get the cow next week we call in and pick our cuts, roasts, burgers, etc. Then we give them about a week and a half and it's ours

T@iy@ said...

This is our first time getting one.

Shannon said...

Morning ladies. Sorry I havent been around all weekend....let us just say Shannon had a GOOD time for her birthday :) Unfortunately I was so hammered on Friday that my son, 16, made the decision after I fell down and broke a lamp that it was time for mom to go to bed LOL

My math instructor and I had a good discussion this weekend. He was saying that I only got a 23% on my final and that is what dropped my grade so much. I argued. He looked into it further. He recognized that he made a "gross error" and fixed my grade. WOOOHOOOO so I passed my stupid class :)

Now I am having issues getting signed into my other math class but hopefully that will be fixed here pretty soon.

How are all my beautiful daisies doing today? Did you have fun this weekend?

Anonymous said...

Hi Shannon, congrats on getting that fixed.

Shannon said...

Thanks and hello Sandy :)

Lemme tell ya that grade issue had me freaked and stressed. If I wouldnt have gotten the passing grade I would have had to fight to get into the same class again as the sections are all closed.

Hey are you kid free yet? We dont get to send kids back until tomorrow.

Anonymous said...

Yep...except for the little guy. He goes in the afternoon. But they only go until Weds (I think) b/c of Easter.

Lisa said...

Hello!

Okay, FT's picture up there has disappeared and I can't make it come back. Dammit. Sorry about that.

Taiya, you're way too chipper today. ;-)

Shannon, it's good you pushed about that one grade...a gross error is an understatement. And I hope it wasn't a good lamp.

Margaret, how's C?

Anonymous said...

AP-I see the picture but no daisies.

Anonymous said...

Daisies are back. Must be a blogspot problem.

Shannon said...

Nah it was a standing lamp that we found on a job site....honestly I kind of hate the damn thing because it is segmented and the stupid thing unscrews a little every time someone walks by it. Unfortunately my friend Chad got pictures of it and can I just say EWWWWW LOL

kristin said...

Shannon - glad you had an eventful and memorable birthday :) and for passing grades!

Sandy - yeah for kids in school/hubby back at work!

Hiya AP!

Taiya - yeah for blooms!

and hello all!

I'm frustrated and busy - so angry at my son's school - they have upped tuition prices again. :(

Angie said...

Shannon, congrats on the grade change! Great news! I got no daisies either. :-(

Shannon said...

LOL I have Daisies but no borders or backgrounds going on the side bar LOL

Lisa said...

Okay, it's just a blog problem, then. Hopefully the picture will magically reappear.

Hi, Kristin...sorry about the increase. How much warning did they give you?

Shannon, I *really want to see that picture. A lot.

"I got no daisies either. :-("
You've got us. :-D

Lisa said...

Random announcement:

I badly want to paint my dining room table and chairs turquoise but I'm afraid if anyone sees them they'll accuse me of trying to be a sheeple. :-P

kristin said...

No warning - they are increasing Friday hours until 9:00 - but all parents have to contribute - which I think is absolutely stupid.

I think only those who use Friday night sit, should have to pay - KWIM?

I found out from another parent that the co-director's daughter is getting married.

They are also going to make the teacher's who have kids at the daycare start paying also.

Lisa said...

Kristin, it sounds like they're really having some financial issues at the school. Are you going to keep him there or look for another place?

kristin said...

I'm looking at other options - but it looks like, even with the increase - it is still cheaper - I just don't know if it's better.

Shannon said...

AP ask and you shall receive....I have sent you that pic :)

Anonymous said...

Popping by to say hi - C is still here. There are a few people IRL that doubt me so you can too :)

kristin said...

I don't doubt you Margaret - I do find it amazing - her fighting spirit and the human body! WOW!

Shannon said...

Margaret I wouldnt doubt. That is OBVIOUSLY one strong lady that is for sure. Is there something she is waiting for or someone she needs to know is going to be ok without her? I have see that happen so often where there is something like that that keeps them hanging on.

Lisa said...

Oh, Shannnnnnnnnon...bwahahahahahaaa!
That is a thing of beauty and thank you for showing me. The dog in the background just added to the perfection of it all. I swear I will never use it here unless you want me to. Or unless you piss me off. :-D

Margaret, people doubt you that C is still hanging in there?

Shannon said...

HAHAHAHA

Well you can see my son next to me as he was trying to pick the lamp up off of me and save me. That is Tyr in the background probably trying to figure out what is wrong with mom :)

Lisa said...

Shannon, it's priceless, very funny stuff. I think you should change your avatar. *nods*

Margaret, people are foolish. It's just not quite C's time yet, that's all.

Angie said...

AP said: "I badly want to paint my dining room table and chairs turquoise but I'm afraid if anyone sees them they'll accuse me of trying to be a sheeple. :-P"

I definitely don't think anybody will accuse you of trying to be a *sheeple. Clearly you're trying to be JM.

Oh. No.
First I have her orange walls. Then I covet her husband. Now I want her turquoise furniture.

Next thing you know, I'll be pregnant.

Shannon said...

AP exactly how are you going to achieve the pregnant part of your transformation to JM?

Lisa said...

Shannon, I'll use this in the bathroom of a fabric store. http://www.totalconception.com/

Shannon said...

Well that could do the trick but you do realize that after the pregnancy comes a baby and dirty diapers? LOL

Anonymous said...

Love the new name McK!

Lisa said...

Thank you, Christy. Shannon, I'll just hire someone to take care of that babe. No problem!

Taiya, will you please come nest at my house?

Shannon said...

LMAO I love it when you remind me why I love you so much MckAP

KaytieJ said...

McKAP - Spare yourself the pregnant part and just go sponsor a kid :-D

T@iy@ said...

MckAP- I would love to nest at your house. Buy me a plane ticket, offer up some child care, and give me a beach day and I will be happy to nest at your house. :D

Shannon- I think you need to share that photo with the whole class. :)

Hey, speaking of bulbs earlier (sorry for the abrupt subject change), this seems like a great deal if anyone is interested. I'll just link the whole thread: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?sduid=0&t=1944598

kristin said...

speaking of slick deals - anyone seen any good deals on a Dyson? I think the model I'm looking for is the DC-14 - pet hair one.

If you see something, let me know.

I will start looking but thought I'd ask!

I'm going to get a dyson and then take my mountain bike in for repair - I'm hoping to at least take rides on my lunch break soon and hopefully get LM on a bike :)

Oh...and get some fireman stuff for his room :)

Kristin, that's the one I have. It's awesome.

Shannon said...

I have an online college instructor rant!!!!!

The instructor for my math 111 class has seriously screwed the class for being able to start on time.

We have an outside site where we do our homework and our tests and such that way he can see what we are doing and such. Well that would be all fine and good but he forgot to open the section like he was supposed to and now we are all trying to figure out what to do. What makes it even better is that he apparently hasnt checked his email as of yet because he has about 2 dozen of them in there from us.

GOOD GOD MAN WHY IS IT ALWAYS THE MATH INSTRUCTORS???!!!

Shannon said...

And stop the Dyson talk ladies......you make us jealous :)

Shannon said...

BTW Kristin they have that vac at Kohls.com for 50 off and free shipping so it comes to 399.99

Shannon said...

But then Best Buy has it on sale too for 339.99 and if you have it set for pick up at your local store you save almost 26 bucks for shipping or it would be closer to 365.

Shannon said...

now i want to get one lol

Shannon said...

And overstock.com has an even better deal.....$252.94 shipping included.

T@iy@ said...

Dang Shannon. When I need to buy something I am calling you for sure!

Shannon said...

Angie said...

Sigh. I always have such big dreams for Monday productivity, and I almost never get anything done on Mondays. I swear, I had a steady stream of visitors in my office today. Probably 8 - 10, no lie. None of them had any billable purpose for being in my office either. Okay maybe one was. Ugh.

I need a drink. So I'm glad that I'm meeting friends for Mexican food, because a margarita is in my near near future.

KaytieJ said...

Shannon - that is awful about your class. Can you call the school to get that guy in gear?

KaytieJ said...

McKAP - Do you need an iPhone in that basket, too? That way you can send us pics of your Tens chord.

Shannon said...

I have gotten a hold of pretty much everyone but there is nothing that anyone can actually do.

KaytieJ said...

SW - Oh boy - that is a margarita day. Try a cadillac one. A friend of mine suggested it and I had one last week.

KaytieJ said...

Shannon - Does this mean y'all can't take the class?

Shannon said...

No we just have to wait on him to do what should have been done last week.

He is finally actually online and hopefully fixing and addressing the issue as we speak.

It just means that for some of us, like me, who would have started doing things on the 25th to get a jump on things we are now essentially a day behind with everything.

KaytieJ said...

Doesn't give you a whole lot of confidence in this guy. Very frustrating for you, especially when you are in the mood and wanting to jump in and get it done!

Shannon said...

Lack of confidence for SURE LOL. I have been ready to get started on it for a damn week but had to force myself to wait until the 25th and then thought that I was doing something wrong. GRRRR

Shannon said...

I am beginning to fell like one of those "it's always something" kind of people.

KaytieJ said...

Come on in...and welcome, Shannon, to the "It's Always Something" crowd :-D

Shannon said...

LOL Well thanks Kay :)

I'm shocked, I tell you. Shocked.

T@iy@ said...

MckAP- Yeah. Me too. No one saw that coming. Really. Honestly. No, I mean it.

Lisa said...

I'm still not over Clay Aiken. I can't do this.

KaytieJ said...

He just NOW announced it? Guess I was dreaming earlier.

Shannon said...

Ricky Martin absolutely cannot be gay!!!!!! I am sorry but those fags are getting all the good looking guys LOL I am soooooo kidding!!!!

However I have been in love with Ricky for so many years you dont even know. I remember him being the little guy in Menudo and loving him then, he just cant be gay!!!

Taiya, my niece was so ardent about ripping off her diaper while in her crib (and doing assorted indignities while it was off) that my sister used to duct tape the diaper (not to her, but to seal the tabs down). I was terrified that CPS would be contacted because of a misunderstanding.

Taiya - I still remember those days (I think that is how AP and I met, actually). And more often than not my 14 y.o. son STILL comes down at least 3 times before bed! I think I am just numb to it now.

T@iy@ said...

Don't tell me that, Kay! I am still waiting for her to sleep through the night consistently.

T@iy@ said...

Although I think that is me being delusional, honestly.

KaytieJ said...

Nah, you are not delusional. She will get there for you. My kid is just weird that way...and I say that with much love for him.

KaytieJ said...

Taiya - I have a tulip pic of one of my tulips that is in bloom here. I am with ya on being so excited to see what pops up in the spring! I'll try to change my avatar to the tulip so you can see it.

T@iy@ said...

I will check it out! :) Blogger isn't working great for me today, so I will try to look at it tomorrow.

T@iy@ said...

My hyacinths are *just starting to bloom today and the tulips aren't even to the bud stage, yet, so I have a bit. Can't wait!

Jennifer-Lynn said...

So, I thought I'd be torturing myself and my third glass of wine by reading "IM's" most recent column.

I liked it. Mostly because it felt like a conversation A. and I would have, and not because it was "precious" in the way that JM wants us to think Kieran is. Does that make sense?

Also, M. is calling me from her crib and I'm refusing to get her. She's not even crying, just yelling "Mommy, kay!" which means "thank you," and I imagine stamping her foot and clanking her cup against the crib slats, invoking a tiny prisoner. But she needs to go to bed, like yesterday.

KaytieJ said...

I am having hard time with Blogger, too. You have a good evening - always enjoy your posts!
Oooh! It worked....here is one of my favorite Tulips in bloom here.

T@iy@ said...

Oh! What beautiful colors, Kay!

KaytieJ said...

BD - I am on my first glass of Merlot...hmmmm...maybe I will venture to IM land. That sounds like a nice story to read, if you give it the OK.

KaytieJ said...

Taiya - Aren't they though? We live above a Holland Tulip farm and I love looking over to there fields, it is a "magic carpet" when they are in bloom. My dh got these last year at the Tulip festival. I kept the bulbs in pots outside last year. Frankly, I am amazed they bloomed again! There are some purple ones that are just peeking out - can't wait!

Jennifer-Lynn said...

I got her out of the crib.

T@iy@ said...

Aww.. BD, you are not a loser! I cave all. of. the. time.

KaytieJ- can I ask where you live?

KaytieJ said...

BD - Not a loser. A mom.

KaytieJ said...

Taiya - I don't get it either. And, um, what is Dooce? I think PW is Pioneer Woman?
You and I can talk tulips and hyacinths, nesting and bb guns on the porch while we wait for the answer :-D

T@iy@ said...

I have a bunch of blogs in my reader, and today I was catching up and I swear every other one mentioned PW. Then the whole Dooce on HGTV throws me off. PWs site is cute, but Dooce I can't stand.

Michigan. S.W. I don't think it's really been discussed much.

KaytieJ said...

Oh! That is beautiful country, too. We drove cross county from Connecticut and I was stunned by the beauty of all the different areas.

T@iy@ said...

Is it odd that I am in love with my cuisinart? Because I really am. I gave a sigh of happiness today when I pulled it out of the cupboard to use it to make baby food...

T@iy@ said...

I pretty much adore MI. I love a lot of the country, but I have never found any place that I thought was better than where I live. Well.. maybe a 5000 acre ranch in Montana so I could have horses and whatnot, but you know... not realistic.

KaytieJ said...

Joining you in sighs of the Cuisnart. I have the small one and it holds great memories. My new joy is a rice maker/food steamer. Before that my rice was TERRIBLE, scorched and dry.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

I masturbate to thoughts of my Cuisinart.

Okay, that's not true. I've just had too much wine. But I do love it.

My brother's current FB status:

Went to the gas station, paid for gas, got back in the car, and drove home.... Moral of the story: Im dumb.

T@iy@ said...

I cheat on rice. I haven't tackled the real stuff, yet, although it is on my list of things to do. I am usually all about homemade, not processed, etc. but for some reason that hasn't extended to rice. My brother gives me crap about it.

T@iy@ said...

BD- what kind of wine do you drink? Dry? Sweet?

KaytieJ said...

Sigh! My little Cuisinart is a work horse and brings back great memories!

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Taiya:

Here's where I become unlikeable.

I like sweet white wines, like Riesling, Gewertztraminer and some Viogniers. My reds I like big with some sweetness on the palate, but more spicy, like Zinfandels, Meritages, Cabernet Francs and Cabernet Sauvignons, and some Petite Sirahs. :)

Jennifer-Lynn said...

I am not GENERALLY a fan of red like Merlot, Pinot Noir, or Carmenere, but I will try them if served. :)

KaytieJ said...

BD - No unlikeable for you :-D
For a weird reason white wines give me a massive headache. To each their own! My favorite is full bodied, spicy Cabernet Sauvignons but Red Diamond Merlot is just spicy enough and full bodied, that I do enjoy it.

PJ said...

http://www.cuisinart.com/products/food_processors/fp-12dc.html

Newer model - mine is probably 27 years old (I think first husband and I got it for a wedding gift).

Someday when we can afford it, I'm going to spring for this fancy one.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Kaytie:

Most people don't realize that whites have more sulfites than reds. That might be where the headaches come from.

And don't believe wine labels that tell you "no sulfites" because that means no "added" sulfites. All wines have naturally occurring sulfites, and no one can do a thing about it. :)

Getting an appliance that you want, will use and enjoy is much different than getting an appliance from DH that is something THEY want. I have had years of fishing gear and other unmentionable manly appliances (hey we ask guys to show their feminine side and so vise versa for us girls in my book) ...and while I do enjoy that side of me, I was THRILLED with my little Cuisinart, rice maker and Crockpot. I did have to break down and buy myself an inexpensive pasta maker last year, though.

BD - I did not know that about the sulfites being more in white wines. All my girlfriends talk of getting sulfite headaches and so they drink white wine. I have tried and every time I come down with a blinding headache. Thank you for that info!

CK - WOW! That is one "Serious" applicance. And I am seriously putting that on a wish list for the future! The canning, sauces, pie crust, bread possibilities!!!!

I've got a same-brand food processor that's maybe 15 now. I really enjoy chopping by hand, though...it's relaxing. Of course, I also make rice out of a bag in a pot. *grins* I'm just not very hi-tech in the kitchen and what I really want is a good mortar and pestle.

Oh, and Robin is in the throes of moving. Last text I had from her, their mattresses got caught in a downpour and she was starting to drink. I got that around 4 my time, so 1PM hers. :-D She also warned it may take a couple of days to get internet going.

My hip? Sucks. Is bad. I fell hard in the shower a couple of years ago...really, really hard. Who knew Nair was like ice once it hit tile? We wondered at the time if I'd possibly fractured it and it's been a little touchy since. Today did something evil.

CK, I'm not ignoring your sweet, thorny self but I right now I'm having a little trouble sitting long enough to read, think and reply. Don't worry, I'll be back. :-D

"So... I don't understand the Dooce and PW crazes. Anyone care to enlighten me? I am not bashing them, I just don't understand the big deal."

For all my talk about hating PW, I don't really. She just bores me. She seems to say the same things, over and over. There's no real personality that I can feel in her posts and I finally gave up...it wasn't worth the time. Dooce, I tried once or twice and never understood the big deal.

Kaytie, you mentioned when we met. My gosh, it had to be in '97 or '98, no? I do recall it was on an "only child" message board and we were the only two there actually glad to have just one. Man, a lot has happened since those days, no?
