AP I really hope that your hip is going to be ok and isnt anything serious....no bueno. After all you do live in FL but you are a little young for replacement parts

Lisa said...

Shannon, that's just mean. We all know the old folks head to the Miami area or Naples and Sarasota. Not here so much. Sarasota, Naples? Heaven's waiting rooms. *nods*

My hip will be fine because it won't have a choice. I will baby it tonight and tomorrow, *maybe, but then we're back in action. And thanks. :-)

Can't. Sleep.

Hi to anyone who's in the same boat.

::Wondering what AP will do for our Easter post::

kristin said...

Morning ladies!

Thanks AP - I guess I was just feeling a little needy last night - sorry all!

I am exhausted.

AP - I am sorry about your hip - maybe you should go get it checked out. btw - how is Miss Arse?

Good Morning Ladies! Why am I up so early?

kristin said...

b/c you wanted to say hi to me :)

Morning Sandy!

How did C do in school yesterday?

Anonymous said...

Good Morning Kristin!

She said she had a good day. Stupid teacher told them how many days of school they had left so now that's the new obsession.

Anonymous said...

I love the Passover cat! Cecelia died last night so our version of Fried Green Matzo Balls is over :)

Anonymous said...

Okay that really sounded bad but you know what I mean!

Well blogger was giving me problems and not letting me post.

Margaret - I am glad C is finally at peace. I'm sure you are relieved also. Do you have to arrange services and stuff now?

I know it still has to be pretty emotional and for that I'm sorry.

How is your daughter doing? How is she going to handle the news?

Anonymous said...

I removed my comment b/c it really sounded bad. Margaret, Ms. C is finally at peace. What I meant to say earlier was maybe she was waiting for the holiday because it was something special for her.

Anyone else having blogger problems today?

T@iy@ said...

Oh, Margaret! I'm sorry/glad to hear that about your friend. I hope you know what I mean by the 'glad' part.

Morning rest of you daisies!

Morning all! RIP to Cecelia.

I've got a busy day today, so will be scarce. Dr.'s appt in 15 minutes, back to work, birthday lunch for cute little co-worker, back to work, meet pest control guy for termite inspection at 5:30, Lost night with best friend. I want a day off.

Hope everybody has a good Tuesday. AP, I hope your hip is better today.

kristin said...

Hi AP! Doctor - hope nothing serious!

Hope your day is productive!

See ya around!

kristin said...

Sandy - I think what you meant to say is she went to the big passover sader in the sky :) I so enjoyed the time I spent with her - last night I waited for the funeral home to come after the nurse and her lawyer left. I know she wasn't there anymore but I felt good about seeing this through with her - part of her journey and my journey on earth. She made her own funeral arrangements and is going to have a simple graveside service. I just need to call a few of her friends today. She's kid of like me, kept her circle small but cherished those in it :)

kristin said...

That is really awesome Margaret - I'm glad she had you!

I hope your daughter does okay with her passing.

KaytieJ said...

Margaret - Peace to C. and to you as well! You were a good friend to be with her during this time.

AP - Baby that hip for a bit - sure hope it feels better soon!

Kristin - Good for you getting out there for some sooftball! Hope your season is a fun one!

kristin said...

It was really sad - we play 2 games -first game I was not on base at all. Horrible - I hit but didn't hit well enough -and I am a slow white girl :0

Second game I did much better - got on base all but once. Singles, nothing too exciting. We play co-ed so a guy hits after the girl. The guy up after me hit pretty well and then with errors - had me running all the way home - when I turned 3rd - my legs were jello, I thought I was going to fall but luckily I was told to "stand up" which means I didn't have to haul ass to get to home plate.

Yeah, it took me another inning to catch my breath :)

KaytieJ said...

Kristin: You are in a new sport apparently :-D
Sooftball = Softball. Gads I need coffee!

kristin said...

I figured it out Kaytie - no worries!

KaytieJ said...

Woohoo! That is exciting though. And at least you could stand to recover. I'd be splayed out staring at the daisies!

KaytieJ said...

Off to make coffee and imbibe while I do that dishes/laundry thing. See y'all in a bit!

kristin said...

bye kaytie :) Enjoy!

Anonymous said...

KaytieJ, I take mine with a little milk and one sugar, LOL.

Kristin, I loved softball in high school. Wished I was on the team actually.

kristin said...

My sister is entering a pic of LM into PW's "green" contest!

Sandy - I love softball too - I played in HS but not for the HS - for the community league - it was all girls and I loved it but had to quit after 3 years.

LM is a cutie, btw! I just caught up on your last.... umm... 5 blog posts? I suck at keeping up with my reader. :)

kristin said...

Oh - PW randomly does photo contests - this one the subject is green - so you submit your pic with the theme green. the pic she submitted is really cute - it is of LM during her wedding - he is standing b/w the chairs with the green grass as sort of a canvas. Its a great pic!

kristin said...

Me too Taiya - but thanks! He really is a cutie - with a great imagination.

Anonymous said...

I have a 4 year old mopping my kitchen floor! Woo Hoo. He's actually doing a great job.

kristin said...

Yeah Sandy!

T@iy@ said...

That's what I'm talking about, Sandy! :) Encourage that behavior!

Anonymous said...

Taiya - I do. He is so helpful. I know I rag sometimes about what could take 15 minutes takes two hours but it's teaching him. He will be receiving an allowance now. He is very proud of himself.

T@iy@ said...

Very awesome!

Anonymous said...

He's almost 4 1/2. If I tell him we can take a break and get a drink or snack, he'll say no mom. Let's just finish and then take a break. I love that quality in him because he wants to finish what he starts.

kristin said...

and in my random facts today:

"Coca-Cola originally included coca derivatives such as cocaine in their sodas, which at the time was not illegal. It was originally served as a “brain tonic and intellectual soda fountain beverage.” "

My daughter will just look at me look I have four heads. I will even bribe with cash. Maybe when she sees B getting an allowance for doing chores, other occasionally making her bed, she'll jump in.

Anonymous said...

He just said I am so proud of my kitchen floor, I want to give it a kiss! Talk about pride in your work.

T@iy@ said...

Good luck with that, Sandy. :) Hope it works for you.

Well, off to my mom's house to visit for a bit.

Love the "intellectual soda" bit, Kristin.

Lisa said...

'Morning, Peoples.

Margaret, I'm both sad and happy to hear of C's passing. I know you will all miss her terribly, though. You two were very lucky to have one another.

Nothing much new here. The hip is no worse and thanks to everyone for asking. I'll live. :-)

Sandy, that is so sweet about your son!

CK, I hadn't even thought about an Easter post...hmmm. I've got an idea, though.

Lisa said...

Well, I sure killed it with my very presence.

I'm off until later...have a good afternoon, everyone!

Does baby powder expire? I have some Johnson & Johnson powder and don't know if I should dump it. We really don't use it. Someone help me purge this junk!

kristin said...

sandy - if you don't use it, ditch it - but I learned - if you have greasy hair, etc you can put baby powder in it and it makes it less greasy.

It's also getting close to swim suit season - I use it on little man all the time to get him into clothes easier :)

Anonymous said...

Kristin, I think I'm ditching. Brian is 4 1/2 and I think it's from when he was a baby! Yikes. Time to get the boy ready for school and backing to bathroom purging.

Shannon said...

Kaytie are you on ?

So here where it hasnt snowed all winter....yeah we had a mix this morning. I was outside smoking and thought at first that it was really big raindrops but I was wrong...it was snow.

I think we will have snow in April once again. We had snow for 4/20 two years ago and with the way it is being right now I think it might happen again.

So I just got back from lunch with 7 male attorneys. Five minutes into lunch (at Red Robin), one of the guys challenged another of the guys to eat two large orders of fries from Five Guys (at a later date). Apparently a large order of fries at FG is very large. So the rest of the conversation for the WHOLE HOUR was negotiating the terms of the challenge. ALL of the conversation. I swear, men came from some whole other planet than we did, ladies.

Angie said...

AP, I'm excited about Lost tonight. It's about Jin and Sun. Hopefully they will finally find each other tonight!

kristin said...

STUPID WITCH w/ a capital B!

so someone called for ho-worker - asked for her specifically - so I tried to transfer the customer to her, it rings busy but I see that hse isn't on the phone. I try again, still busy - I'm perplexed - tell the lady - just one second, I will go find her.

So I walk back to the back and tell her "blah blah with blah blah is on the phone for you" - and she says (w/o turning around) and quite rudely "i'm on lunch!" -and then picks up the phone!

ugggghhhhhhhhhh!

and she is turning 50 next month and I have to "plan" it.

good times!

Anonymous said...

That's funny SW. You'll have to update us when they end up in the ER with severe stomach pain.

Anonymous said...

Kristin... I hope something comes through for you in the teaching field. I worry about your sanity having to work with people like that :)

kristin said...

Thanks Christy - I heard back (finally) from one e-mail - and he said that they filled the position with a sub they used.

I have a "list" of stuff I need to do - order a book for both my special ed and 9-12 test.

Look for my transcripts.

Find about the sub policy for the local school district (so I can maybe sub once in awhile and get some "experience")

They are also having a job fair on the 17th, which I will be attending.

I also need to submit my online application to a few surrounding districts (ones I don't particularly want to work in). I figure if I get my foot in the door, get some experience, I may be more marketable down the line.

My whole problem is I have good intentions of doing these things at home and then start doing other things. I have an index card of things and will scratch them off as I do them.

How are you Christy?

Anonymous said...

It's hard to get those things done, but I think you have some good ideas. Subbing is really a good way to get to know the principal and other teachers and have them remember you. Hopefully you'll be able to find or make the time soon.

I'm doing well. It's officially hot here. It's 80 out right now and I had to put shorts on...I almost melted in the car earlier.

kristin said...

Yeah - it's 74 degrees right now - and supposed to be in the 80's tomorrow.

I feel ya on that one.

Glad all is well!

I am sore - the longer I sit, the more stiff I get.

Shannon said...

Yeah rub it in ladies LOL

Sitting here freezing to death....well maybe it isnt that bad but it is only 40 with a 34 windchill right now. It is pouring down rain with snow mixed in with it.....not fun times at all.

kristin said...

ooops - sorry Shannon!

It's OK Kristin...this is freakish weather over here I tell ya.

Anonymous said...

Shannon...I'll trade you! It will be much hotter here soon. We'll be dying to turn on the AC in a few weeks.

kristin said...

We had freakish weather awhile ago - where it was in the 70's one day and snowing the next. INSANE!

Shannon said...

One thing that will be interesting to see is when the warmer weather comes what it will be like. We usually get around 90 at the most but maybe a day or two over 100

Angie said...

Me me Shannon! ::raising hand::

Angie said...

Barefoot Contessa's beef short ribs recipe is fantastic!

Nilia said...

Who's got a good recipe involving chicken breasts and a crockpot? I want to use a recipe someone recommends.

My oldest received an achievement award at school today, for most improved report card. He usually has a pretty good report card but this term it was awesome, so we're very proud!

Busy week and I'm feeling frazzled trying to be everything for everybody....

Nilia said...

Margaret: I read about your friend's passing, that must have some measure of relief for you. It was kind of you to stay with her as long as you did. It must feel serene to you to have done all you could, right to the last minute.

kristin said...

Sorry for being frazzled FT!

Does Shortround have a name yet?

Anonymous said...

FT - it has definetly been a peaceful day :)

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Nilia said...

Kristin, is your email the one that has aggie in it? Or is that cupcake's? Sorry, help me out.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Margaret, how are YOU feeling?

I just made feta and pancetta scones and a coconut custard pie. The scones are good but I should have added more pancetta. Live and learn.

kristin said...

mine is seaaggie with letters in front - at gmail :)

kristin said...

i saw that BD!

Nilia said...

Oh! I had a friend named Aggie in highschool so that part of it really stood out for me!

Margaret - So glad your day was peaceful. Is your avatar of a tree at your place. It is so pretty.

FT - Sorry you are feeling frazzed. Gets overwhelming when you are doing so much for so many others.

SW - :::nodding::: Men are definitely from another planet. I have two wonderful ones and I still find myself looking at them like they are aliens. EVERYTHING is a contest. Blech. Sorry your lunch turned out like that.

Easter plans - I am working all weekend. Dh & son will go to dh's mom's. And happily our chicken eggs come out pastel colored and so we don't paint them. I will be hardboiling a bunch and making Deviled Eggs for them and the crew at work. Hmmmm...that doesn't seem right Deviled Eggs and Easter. Ah well.

KaytieJ said...

AP - Sorry you aren't feeling well. Hope you can get some rest!

T@iy@ said...

AP- sorry you aren't feeling good. How's your hip?

KaytieJ said...

FT - Congratulations on your son doing so well this term! That is such a good feeling for a parent!

kristin said...

I found a place near my mom's that is having an easter egg hunt on Saturday - I think the whole family will be there - my little sis (pregnant) will bring her stepdaughter - I am going to do eggs with the little guy - I bought some monster kind that has stickers :) and I have a tumbler so I can stick the eggs in and he can make it go round.

I am also thinking of getting some planters and he and I just plant.

Then on Sunday, the whole fam damily will go to mom's and eat - hopefully the sun will be out and we can hang by the pool.

kristin said...

alright ladies - this extracurricular activity has taken its toll on me - I am exhausted.

Night-night!

Nilia said...

Kaytie: thanks! He only told me last night, I got home so at 10 p.m. he asks if I can go to his school in the morning for this award. His teacher (who knows I'm a teacher) only told him yesterday. Not much notice but he was making these doe eyes at me that I had to take the morning off even though it is so not a good time. It was worth it though, when he entered the gymnasium he was looking around positively worried, I would have regretted it not going.

I heard from Corinne today, she says (and I quote) that she has been "super busy" and that she'll check in on Daisy soon. So sounds like she's okay, just busy!

kristin said...

Hey FT - that is really awesome!

and yeah, I lied about going to bed - totally forgot about the dozen eggs I have to take for LM's school tomorrow - and then I forgot where I "hid" all the goodies so I can put them inside the eggs.

so yeah, not in bed yet!

kristin said...

they had the coolest eggs at wal-mart - they are animal print and they come with little plastic animals - and then I found these foam stickers (eggs, bunnies) for $1.00 for a bunch and I put 3 pennies in them.

LM is really not a candy kid - and he really likes his "money" so I figured all 3ish year olds would.

kristin said...

alright - eggs are all stuffed! Now I'm off to bed!

Nilia said...

Oooh, you reminded me, gotta text the cousins to see if we are still doing Easter egg hunt for the kids this year. Easter is at my aunt's (mom's sister) and one year I arrive all prepared with stuff to hide and I was the only one. My (female) cousin and her SIL hadn't, and come on, both of them? So I got a little peeved because I didn't think that was nice to do my kids. So every year now I check and every year they act surprised. Well of COURSE we're doing the Easter egg hunt.

We try to minimize candy too and put money inside, I also put erasers, plastic rings, that kind of thing.

And speaking of eggs and getting no notice for anything, I was reading my oldest's agenda maybe an hour ago and there was "bring a boiled egg". So I boiled an egg. No idea what it's for, I love how some teachers ask for stuff the next day. Once it was a box of baking soda for the next day. They were doing science experiments the following week and each kid had to bring in one of the ingredients.

As Kristin would say, Rant over.

kristin said...

lol FT - my son's school does that a lot! Most times, we get a calendar for the week on Friday - but a few times (more than I like) they forget to hand them out - and then I come in on Monday - and have to ask if there is anything he was supposed to bring - luckily there is a grocery store about 4 shops down - so I can pick stuff up, just sucks if it was wear a "red" shirt or some shit like that.

Sorry about your family frustrations - I had to ask my sis today if her stepdaughter would be at my mom's and then ask her if she was getting LM anything b/c I would hate for her to get him something and me not get her something KWIM?

Alright - I really am off - eggs are all bagged - I was going to cut up strawberries for his party tomorrow but I might just do in the morning or forget about it - I have meat/cheese/crackers already.

Night all!

Nilia said...

Kristin: Exactly! I missed a "crazy hair day" and a "wear your sports team shirt day" recently, 2 kids in the same school, no note. I feel bad they miss out on this stuff, and they're both so scattered (like me!) and never think to mention it.

Yeah, that year I bought their kids stuff ON TOP of the eggs that were going to be hidden. Now my kids don't need a supersized chocolate chicken (I take most of their Halloween / Easter / Christmas candy to school since I can more easily divide it among 6 classes worth of kids!) but I was still stung. That wasn't nice and it felt ganged up.

So that's that. Goodnight, Kristin!

KaytieJ said...

FT - One of (many) fondest memories of my mom is that I had a HS "reward", she worked full time and I did not expect her there. When I went up for the "reward" I saw her standing there. Still brings tears to my eyes. Even though it was a really awkward time with your schedule, know in your heart that he will reflect and remember this and even better, you will have that treasure of seeing his face when he saw you there. {{{}}}

KaytieJ said...

FT - I hear your frustration at last minute notice. Sigh. The Speech and Debate stuff for my son this year was grueling. E-mails sent out at 1:00 AM, for day. If I was in my 12 night shifts I would miss them and then get calls that woke me up that I had to run to the school with something. Sigh.

Nilia said...

Kaytie: I find the teachers who do this don't have kids themselves (1 exception). Maybe that's it.

Have you heard from Shortround IIs family?
