Let's put our grown-up drawers on now.

Welcome to anyone reading this!

I'm not sure where to start so forgive me if I ramble a bit but I've got quite a lot of information to relay in this post. I promise I'll try to keep it as brief as possible. In the last few days, many of us have experienced a very unhappy set of events on a forum we frequented. As a result, some of us left. Some didn't. Speaking only for myself, I miss the community spirit of posting on some type of forum and have made no secret of the fact I will miss talking to many I've come to know and care about. I've received many sweet messages from people and in those, I came to realize a small handful would like a new place where we can meet and talk together freely as a group and without the encumbrances of email or visiting personal blogs back and forth. As a result, this blog was born. Feel free to stay and participate, lurk, or never come back at all...it's all about what makes you comfortable. We're adults here and can make those decisions for ourselves, I think. The rules? Are few and are listed over to the right.

Please know that outside of the rules to the right, there will be no moderation here. In fact, this will be my first and last post as "moderator." I'll toss out any interesting topics I find or are suggested in comments but will not express my own views in the post itself. I will do so in the comments only, same as you. I will bring nothing personal into any posts...that's what my personal blog is for. Comments, though, are free game to be as personal (or not) in, as we each see fit. We're each on our own and responsible for ourselves. Is it possible that offensive or aggravating things will be said? Of course. I hope so, since they can make people think. And I hope that those who have an opposite opinion will express that freely, with no fear of "official" reprimand from me. I can assure you that it will never happen. We are not private, we are not censored, we are not exclusive. My goal as been to make this place open, free, fun, maddening, amusing, thoughtful and thought-provoking. We'll see if it works, I suppose. It may not...it may fizzle after a week and if so, that's fine. We tried. :-)

Lastly, I want to address a topic I'd rather not, yet know I need to. I know some people may want to call this an anti-W blog and I won't mention any specific names because I want to set the tone from the outset that this is not what it's about. I can't stress enough that it's perfectly fine to participate in both places and (hopefully) appreciate each for what they are and what they offer. It's also fine to not be comfortable here, for *any reason...no hard feelings. It won't be for everyone. That all said, because of the freedom offered here, it may happen that someone will choose to bash W or make "anti" comments. I will not censor or delete them because to do so would invalidate the point of this place from the outset and defeat the entire purpose. I will say, however, that I will *not* participate in that, if it happens. For me, the past is the past and this blog is about moving on and having some fun times with intelligent, independent-thinking people I already know and some new ones yet to come, without fear of handslaps and babysitters...nothing more. Also, for the record, W is more than welcome to join in and will be no different than me, you or a dog named Boo around this place. If you now have that song stuck in your head for the rest of the day, you're most welcome. *grins*

What else? Oh, yes...if you get some sort of thrill from squealing "first", knock yourself out but I've never understood it and won't be giving out any speeeeecial little presents for it. Maybe someone else will give you something. Also, I'm sure some tweaking will need to be done around here if people actually like it and visit. Speak up in the comments and we'll see what everyone thinks about your idea. If it's popular, it'll be done. I will tell you that I will draw lines at sick/dead/maimed/ugly children or adult buttons, personal business websites, general ads for money and perhaps a few other things. You will see a Kiva link on here and as I get around to it, you'll see one for Banfield Charitable Trust, Doctors Without Borders and maybe a few others. I'm not trying to be ugly or bossy but rather, to be fair to everyone who might come here. We all have our crap and there's not enough room here to buttonize it all. Things that get added permanently are going to stay helpful but non-specific to anyone in particular. Lastly, I do have a site meter on here. I've always had one on blogs and check it maybe once a month. No stalking, you have my word. Mostly I like to see how many people have come and who might link to the blog but that's about it. Considering some other situations though, if it makes you uncomfortable, speak on up. If enough are bothered, I will remove it. I wish I could make the stats public, frankly. Is it possible?

Now, I think that's about got it all covered. If you have something you need to tell me and you think it really ought to be emailed after reading this far, then please do so: oopsydaisyisaidthat at yahoo dot com. The disclaimer? I will not guarantee it remain private if it comes to this email address since private emails to "moderators" - and God *damn how I hate that label - only cause hard feelings in the end. I won't pass it around but I might post it here. Does it sound fair enough? I can't stress enough that we are each responsible for our own selves and our own words and actions on this blog.

If you like what you've read or simply stayed awake to the end, speak up - say hello or suggest a good topic for discussion and remember that nothing is off limits! Politics, religion, current events, people, places, general life-shit...it's all good and welcome. I hope it's a fun ride for everyone. :-)

Hi all! Thank you so much for this forum, Lisa! I'm thrilled to be here, and especially love the daisies. My Mom grew Shasta daisies when I was a kid, and I've always loved them.

Hope everyone is having a great evening. I'm not being as productive as I need to be seeing that I have a Super Bowl party in less than 48 hours and my house is trashed and I have neither planned the menu nor started a grocery list.

Okay, cat litter. Just started the list. Talk to you soon!

Angie

In case anyone has wondered, the wedding is still on. We'll have daisies, it seems. *nods*

I'm a sucker for a girl with a Peter Pan collar.

Joanne said...

So happy to see you have a place. Thanks for the link. I am tired and I was not comprehending what you were saying in the email. Time for me to call it a night. Stressful day, but nothing that a good night's sleep will not cure.

The daisies are cute and fresh. Keep them.

Joanne

hello...and goodnight! pretty place AP...thanks for letting me know it's here! and in case i don't see ya...good morning!

Lisa said...

Well, hi there, Joanne! Glad to see you came and glad to see some other friendly faced avatars up there, too. :-) I hope everyone is well!

Lisa said...

Ohh, Nikki is here, too! I'm *very glad because Nikki has every right to hate my ass and she doesn't.

Heather said...

well ain't this place cute! it's my style with the little daisies and all. and the title makes me giggle!

i don't worry about stat counters, but to answer your question...i do think you can make it available to the public. atleast some of them. "stat counter" is one *i think*. it's supposed to be visible to all who click on the numbers if you set it that way. but i'm only rambling...i really don't know. i don't even check my own stat counter.

ok, can't wait to see what kind of fun you get us into. i may have to catch up tomorrow though, i'm tired and headed to bed early tonight.

muchas smooches everyone!

Kathleen said...

Oh yay!
Miz. Pie, you have made my day.
I have to finish an Ice cream cake for my sister in laws birthday, but I will be back to roll 'round on yer sweet daisy space.

kristin said...

Hey ladies - my son is driving me insane! i'll try to be back later!

Thanks AP!

Hey all!

Angie said...

Cool! There are peeps here! I told you, AP, if you built it, they would come! Yay!

(AP's proud fiance)

kristin said...

I like the daisies too!

kristin said...

SW & AP - I think you may have to rethink the wedding party though :)

Lisa said...

"Hey ladies - my son is driving me insane! i'll try to be back later!"

Oh, God, I feel like I'm back home again. I've missed this...lol!

*waves happily at Kristin, Kathleen and Heather*

Hey, Heather, I'll look into the stat counters and thanks!

kristin said...

Hi Heather!

Hey AP! ::waving back and jumping up and down like a little school girl :)

Hey AP - I sent you an e-mail :) I have a blog design related question!

PJ said...

Hi ladies! I'm late to the party - husband and I were watching another mediocre movie from RedBox.

kristin said...

Hey CK :)

Lisa said...

"Hey AP - I sent you an e-mail :)"

You've waited a long time to do that, haven't you?

Lisa said...

Yay, CK! How are you?

kristin said...

LMAO ::nodding and giggling...yes, yes I have!

PJ said...

I'm good AP - enjoying raspberry tart with vanilla ice cream right now.

PJ said...

My husband was very excited to hear that I wasn't being as active at SIP.

AP, you have now broken his heart.

kristin said...

I just made me some pb and chocolate cookies! YUMMY!

Lisa said...

Crap. Y'all suck - I was trying to not eat.
CK, your husband may get lucky and this place may not be as active as SIP. In my typical, pessimistic way, I will admit I'm really sort of expecting an epic fail.

Angie said...

"I sent you an e-mail"

::chortle::

Angie said...

Seriously, CK! I've had so much more free time the last few days!

Angie said...

Kathleen, ice cream cake? Yum! What kind of ice cream/cake?

kristin said...

Me too SW! I actually did a bit of cleaning to night and 2 loads of laundry. Go figure!

Angie said...

You're quite the cleaner, aren't you, Kristin? I'm quite the slob.

kristin said...

Negative SW - when you have a 3 year old - it gets pretty messy and lately I haven't been keeping up. My bedroom - probably the worst so I threw everything that didn't belong on the bed and put it where it belonged or threw it in the hamper.

Plus trying to get ready for swim lessons tomorrow, so I'm getting clothes, etc ready for that.

Kathleen said...

It's just chocolate with choc chip ice cream, that's what she wanted. I made one for my DH for his birthday with cherry garcia ice cream and it was awesome. It's pretty easy to do, i just make layer cake and use a layer of ice cream to connect them, as it were.

kristin said...

That sounds delish Kathleen!

Alright ladies, I'm exhausted. Please send good sleeping vibes my son's way so he lets mommy sleep tonight.

Goodnight!

Trudy said...

I won't talk about Poop =) Hi everyone!

Trudy said...

I'm off to play some Pogo. Thanks for this place AP.

kristin said...

lmao Trudy...funny thing...I was thinking of coming on and posting "POOP" but thought better of it.

Well HI Trudy!

And really, I'm off again!

Goodnight!

Hi SW, Nikki, Joanne, Kathleen, Kristen, EVERYONE!

PJ said...

::happy CK talking to herself::

Kathleen said...

Not just talking to your self, but placenta-ing to yourself... Hee hee.

PJ said...

Kathleen - so I'm going to admit I don't know much about you. Should I now feel terribly embarrassed because we actually were best friends in a former life?

Rebecca said...

Hey AP and All -

Hope I am welcome here. Was a lurker once, shut out another time. Just a girl that enjoys a good convo, and other's perspective on things. Don't have a blog, but enjoy chat.

Rebecca

PJ said...

Welcome Rebecca. I do remember you and your family pic.

I'm off to sleep - look forward to visiting in the a.m.

Rebecca said...

Hey CK! I remember we shared a state...happy zzzz's.

PJ said...

Rebecca - oh yes! I'm chuckling about the east coast getting all the snow. A Taste of Minnesota for them.

Lisa said...

Hi, Rebecca and you're more than welcome here. I'm you jumped on in and I see Trudy, too! :-)

CK...*placenta? Really? Ewww.

I just had a bad, bad snack. Leftover couscous with some chili on it. I know.

Rebecca said...

Thanks girls, I am *tickled pink* to be here.

AP - World Market closed here last year - and I was (and still am) so disappointed. Enjoy all that awesome-ness.

Off to watch me some dvr'd Ugly Betty. Night, night.

Kathleen said...

CK, nah. I mainly lurked on the first blog, not invited to the second and mainly lurking on a few of the ol' personal blogs since then. Hi, my name is Kathleen, and I'm a blog-a-holic...
Well. Lets see, my family and I just moved from Las Vegas NV to Flagstaff AZ, which is about 260 miles and 1 million 940 thousand people away. I really like the small town stuff except for the lack of a trader joes. And the transition from years of desert to the top of a mountain in the 3rd snowiest year since 1900 has been swell too...

Lisa said...

Rebecca, don't jinx my World Market by mentioning closing. We're still having fun with that haul and planning the next trip. It'll have to be awhile since my wallet can't do that very often.

Kathleen, you made the move? That's great...Flagstaff is home to you, if I recall?

Tee said...

Hey guys! AP, thank you for making a place where we could all come and chat. I've been going through "imaginary friend" withdrawal!

I hope everyone is doing well. I see a few faces that I don't recognize. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Kathleen said...

Sorta home, AP, I went to high school here, and my dad still lives here. But it's way nicer to be an adult in a small town, I don't have to sneak out the bathroom window and walk days to a friends house to have a beer... Of course now that I have a kid, the idea of Miles doing that horrifies me. Ah the hypocrisy...
They do have a world market here too. MMMM. My dad got me a gift card for x-mas even.

Lisa said...

I'm off to bed but popped in once more...hi there, Tee!

G'night, all. Thanks so much for coming. :-)

CPTwife said...

Hi ladies,

I'm going to try and keep up in both places but since I'm not good at keeping up, I won't make any promises. It's good to "see" you again. I have tried piecing everything together but I'm so hopelessly behind that I'll never be able to do it. I'm just glad to stay in touch.

I wanted to mention that you can get a stat counter from feedjit that will have a box on the side that shows which city people are visiting from. I have that on my regular blog AP if you want to take a look.

It is beyond late here and I should really get to bed. Oh, and I chuckled at the title too. Very cute!

Anonymous said...

Hey all!

Just when I thought I'd have more free time =D

Thanks AP for starting this! (Love the layout - it's super cute!)

And CK, placenta? Seriously? Ewww. ;)

Angie said...

Morning folks! Got up early and was so excited to see both new and old peeps here! Special Hi to Tee! I've been in imaginary friend withdrawal too!

I'm looking forward to getting to know the new folks and reconnecting with old friends. Morning Corinne! Are you feeling better?

I woke up at 5:00 AM probably because I have so much to do to get ready for my Super Bowl party. I need to figure out what party food I'm going to serve and make my grocery list and hit the story early.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday!

Angie

Angie said...

So in Mck's latest post she's comparing herself to Sarah Palin. All I can see that they have in common is that they are both annoying as shit. ;-)

Angie said...

Kathleen, your cake sounded delicious! Do you put ice cream on the top and sides too? Is it hard to assemble? I've never made an ice cream cake, so it's all new to me!

By the way. AP, I'm still singing "Me and You and a Dog named Boo." Thanks a fucking lot.

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

Hey SW....I've missed you:)

Angie said...

MLWB! Yay, you're here! I was hoping you would come!

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

I just saw your comment. I want to be part of both, If I can. I have buddies in both places.

Angie said...

Of course you can be in both!

Angie said...

I miss the SIP women terribly. I hope a lot will want to be in both.

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

How have you been? Your having another party? Damn I wish I lived closer! You make such yummy food. I'm not sure what we are having tomorrow. Hubby usually makes Hooters wings. I don't know if he will, he hasn't bought anything yet.

Angie said...

And by "a lot," I really mean all. I like them all.

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

I know, It was hard this week. Hopefully, people will be ok if we want to post in both places.

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

I know that everyone there misses you; and were hoping you would change your mind.

Angie said...

I've been well. Yes, another party! I'm really excited about this one. It's with old friends I used to work with in my previous career. Some of them I only see every couple of years. So it's going to be fun.

I absolutely love making party foods. I think I've got at least 5 dips planned. Which is crazy.

kristin said...

Morning ladies! I need to go catch up!

kristin said...

and the good sleeping vibes everyone sent worked - he stayed in his room until 6 am this morning! woo hoo!

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

Morning Kristin!

SW, I have gained so much weight lately, I can't even look at dips.

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

What vibes? Send some here. Son3 woke up at 3 am crying. Got him settled and then son1 woke up at 5 am and woke son3 up. I went to bed late and got up early....YAWN

Angie said...

I couldn't change my mind, MLWB. I'm pretty stubborn once I've made my mind up. But I've definitely been in mourning, to an extent.

Angie said...

Morning Kristin! Glad LM slept well!

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

I understand SW. I'm glad we were able to connect again. I think you were the the one who commented on my comments the most. I appreciated that:)

Angie said...

3 AM MLWB? Lordy.

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

Yes, 3 am. I was not happy. I need to go to bed earlier knowing that they are going to wake me up early. OR find a way to make them sleep later. I'm sure I will be in bed early, short of drugging them.

Angie said...

LOL MLWB, I think I'm fascinated with you because I've never been friends with anyone in the dental profession and I think it's super interesting.

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

Ha! It certainly can be interesting, that is for sure!

kristin said...

Thanks!

Angie said...

I don't understand all these kids who don't sleep through the night. I liked to sleep when I was a kid. Still do!

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

My boys have never been good sleepers. Son2 is the best. He likes to sleep late. Unfortunately, he shares a room with son1.

kristin said...

I threatened mine...not in a bad way but we are going to Sesame Street Live today.

I also am using his "reward" program of marbles as a way to keep him doing good behavior - so if he misbehaves I tell him I will take a marble out. It seemed to work.

Sorry about the wake up calls.

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

Sesame Street live sounds like fun. I think Dora is here soon. It sucks being the 3rd child. Your parents are sick of that stuff by the time it is their turn.

Angie said...

I like your reward program, Kristin. Isn't it for a bicycle? When will he actually "win" the bicycle?

Angie said...

Definitely sucks being third child! I am third child and there are almost no pictures of me from when I was a baby/child! Then my Mom had twins after me, and they got a lot of pictures taken because they are twins. No fair! On the bright side, you can see me in some of the twin pix!

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

Oh that is so true. My first son has 50+ videos of him. Son3, ummm maybe 5. His brothers are in all of them also. I told myself I wouldn't do that. I don't know what happens. I think the first one is so new and you want to capture every second. Then when #2 comes you don't have as much time, and it seems not as important to get every minute. Then by #3, there is not time, and oops time goes by and not much of anything.

kristin said...

Yes SW the reward is a bike. I told him when he fills the jar he can have a bike. I have a very small one stashed at work, its a hand me down but I think it will work.

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

I'm off to shower. Basketball and swim lessons this morning...fun times...

Angie said...

Bye MLWB! I'm almost done with my grocery list, and then I'm off to the store. Fun times indeed!

twirldawg said...

Morning ladies.

Anonymous said...

Good morning, all.

If it's okay, I'll try and keep up in both places and see how it goes. I have no hard feelings toward anyone. But it's been a hard, hard week. I'm glad nobody has to completely lose the connections they've made to one another.

Hope everyone is doing fine now! And glad the wedding (typed weeding first) is still on! ;)

Anonymous said...

CK, if you come on...I was just thinking of you and wondering how your daughter is doing now?

Angie said...

Hi Jae! It's great to see you here! I'm on the way out the door to the store, but wanted to greet you first. :-) See ya later!

Anonymous said...

Hey SW! Have missed you very much! Buy something yummy at the store! Am I still invited to the wedding? Or weeding? Whichever comes first?

kristin said...

Morning Jae - Morning Jill!

Trudy said...

Good Morning Everyone! I too am so glad this place is here. I'm glad we are still connected. I hope to keep up with both places.

Hi Kristin! I've missed you! Hope you're doing okay. I've worried about you and am glad to *see you here.

kristin said...

Jae - I am good - disappointed and a little hurt and confused but such is life.

How are you?

Anonymous said...

I'm glad you're *okay, Kristin. I do understand the hurt and confused. I'm so sorry about that but so glad you're here.

I'm fine. It's a cold, dark rainy morning here. I need to start some laundry. I think my butt might be stuck to the chair though. ;-)

I'm attempting to unstick it and get busy!

kristin said...

Asked LM what he wanted for breakfast and he shrugged his shoulders.

Asked - do you want eggs? - NO

do you want waffles - NO

do you want oatmeal - NO

Then what do you want?

Duck suit!

What?

Duck Suit.

You want duck soup for breakfast?

Yes.

My son wants duck soup for breakfast....odd, very odd and he is upset because I don't have duck soup.

I have a strange child indeed!

twirldawg said...

At least he didn't really want duck shit.

Had a similar misunderstanding at dinner the other night. Richard wanted "ice cream" on his baked potato. "Ice cream" being sour cream.

PJ said...

Morning all!
Good to see so many here.

Jae, my daughter is doing PT, and a couple of meds. Doctor is monitoring her Vicodin usage closely, as none of us want her to become too dependent on it.

I think the PT is helping - but she's pretty closed mouthed about it. (She lives across the city in the college dorm).

She got a new job on campus that is less strenuous than working in the scene shop. She takes care of lab rats. Ewww is all I can say. She's a real animal lover - I encouraged her to go to school to be a vet, but she said she couldn't imagine putting animals to sleep when they got old.

PJ said...

Kathleen - my BIL lives in Flagstaff! Husband has been there to visit - says it s a great place.

PJ said...

Okay, and the placenta mantra was my version of poop.

But then I realized I was supposed to post it over and over again, not all in one post.

It was inspired by a thread at the BF about, you guessed it, various ways to consume it.

My oatmeal is turning in my stomach.

PJ said...

::stops to breath::

Anonymous said...

Oh CK...I hope the PT and meds continue to help. I know you must worry a lot for her. I'm glad she was able to get a less strenuous job too. Please keep us posted on how she's doing.

To AP...about the sitemeter question. I was just reading over on MckMama Without Pity and thought to look at the bottom of the page for their sitemeter. It's clearly visible and if you click on, the stats are public. I think you could install the same here if you wanted. Just an FYI.

PJ said...

Thanks Jae - that's very kind of you to ask and be thinking about her.

Anonymous said...

Hi ladies!

So glad to see so many familiar faces =) Hi Jill, MLwB, Jae et al.!

I am pathetic. I'm lying on the couch, wrapped up in a Sea World San Diego blanket, watching Zack & Cody on Disney Channel while chatting here. :D

Lousy programming logic.

Good stuff on the BF and mckmamawithoutpity lately.

Someone who seems very much in the know on the whole house transaction says they bought it Deed for Contract.

This all started when someone posted that the bank is listed as Owner on the property tax statement. JM and RV are listed as taxpayers.

A poster as been sharing info - explained that yes, the bank owns, the McKinneys are making payments to the bank, but will not officially own it until the balloon payment is due and they get more conventional financing.

And that this was because their credit is in the toilet.

You can go read for more. Good stuff.

Angie said...

Jill! I'm so happy to see you here! I've missed you! Are you all settled in the new house? Have you finished getting the last straggling things from the old house? I'm sure you are relieved to have the move over.

Hi CK! I've been reading Mck w/o Pity too. I just skimmed the posts about the house stuff but will go back and look closer.

I'll be in and out today. Got back from marathon grocery shopping for SP party and am getting ready to start cooking and prep. Putting off cleaning.

PJ said...

Have a great day and evening SW. I am coveting the amazing food you get to enjoy.

twirldawg said...

SW thank you for letting me know about here. We are not completely settled yet. My husband called in some favors and is having some friends help at the old house while I'm here unpacking and dealing with Richard.

Lisa said...

Good morning and YAY! I see Jill and Jae and Corinne and MLWB!

God, I sound like Miss Nancy.

Lisa said...

CK, I wonder how long the McKinneys have until that balloon payment is due? Because I just don't foresee them being able to get conventional financing easily at *any point with her blogging as a job and him doing whatever it is he does.

twirldawg said...

Romper room?!?!

Lisa said...

Romper bomper stomper boo, Jill. ;-)

Heather said...

morning everyone...yes we don't rise early around here unless we have too.

just wanted to get a few formalities out of the way...i have no problems with this group, that group or the other group. i like you all! i have been terrible at keeping up the since before christmas. i don't like that.

when groups split i DO worry that something horrible has happened and since i like everyone, that horrible thing is that i'm going to get burned somehow. i don't like that. so hopefully we can all just be friends cause who doesn't need friends right? and that's all i have to say about anything all that i've probably missed. if you all are cool with me popping in here, there and elsewhere...thanks!

the only place i do not visit or atleast try not to is BF. i'm still getting over the headache. which i have to say not all gave me the headache...but too many. i think i'm a couple months clean now. yay! for detox.

as for JM, i even tried to make peace with her. call it my christmas spirit. =) but if she's comparing herself to sarah palin, i might need to rethink that.

oopsie daisy did i say all that? why yes, yes i did.

PJ said...

AP,
There were no specifics posted as to when they'd have to come up with conventional financing.

I expect they will lose this house too, uproot those ignored, neglected kids, and make up some unbelievable story to try to explain it all away.

Lisa said...

Heather, you can pop in anywhere you like - that's your choice and I'm just glad this place is one on your list. It's really good to see you. :-)

CK, I think you're right about what will happen with the house. The only other option I see happening is that she could possibly make enough blogging in the next year or two to pay cash for that place, no?

PJ said...

AP,
That's a thought - I guess it'll depend on how much she spends traveling, housekeepers, nannies, chipotle, ugly sweaters for RV.

And when her "house of cards" fake life/blog topples.

Robin in Montana said...

Popping in to say hi -- no time to post today probably. I'm glad this is here and I'm glad it's okay to post both places!

Hi RiM, Heather! And anybody I missed. Okay, I made pimiento cheese (Bobby Dean's recipe - so good!), cut up raw chicken breasts into teeny tiny pieces with scissors (gross) for a layered dip I'll put together tomorrow. Chopped water chestnuts into teeny tiny pieces to make Island Baby's meatballs, and came to the computer to check the recipe so I can mix the meatballs up. Dontcha love handling raw meat? (Yuk!)

twirldawg said...

What time should I be at your house tomorrow SW ;)?

Angie said...

Pregame starts at 6:00, Jill! Tell your husband if he says "Roll Tide!" once, he's going to have to watch the game from the porch!

PJ said...

SW,
How do the scissors work on the chicken? Easier than using a knife? I'd never thought of that.

twirldawg said...

lol SW.

Poor Richard gets confused and says Roll Dawgs!

Angie said...

Scissors work great on chicken CK! I have some kitchen shears and they cut through it like butter. So much easier than with a knife.

Roll Dawgs I could live with. But only b/c he was a band geek. I have a soft spot for band geeks.

Okay, so I just checked out this BlissDom event that Mck is "keynote speaker" for. I still think BlissDom sounds kinky, but maybe that's just me. Anyway, I'm annoyed because Harry Connick Jr., who I love and respect, is playing at the conference. She doesn't deserve him. Yes, I win the petty award for the day, thank you very much!

twirldawg said...

I love Harry Connick Jr.
There are a lot of bloggers at BlissDom that I like, MckMama not being one of them.

PJ said...

Harry Connick Jr - so good on so many levels.

Spoken by a middle aged musician.

Angie said...

Okay Jill, you win the looking-at-the-bright-side award of the day!

AP doesn't give out "speeeeecial" awards, but I do!

PJ said...

My dentist shows music videos (concerts) on a small screen hanging over the chair while you get major dental work done.

I watched Harry Connick Jr at my recent crown prep.

Angie said...

I was incredibly moved by him after the Katrina disaster.

Kathleen said...

Good morning ladies

Sw, I put the layer of ice cream between the two cake layers, and then, frost it like normal. I haven't put it together yet, (in fact my son is sitting next to me WHINING to help me make it)(Lets make the cake mama, lets make the cake mama,etc...) Perhaps I will take pics and make a foodie blog post,ha ha. But its pretty easy.

PJ said...

Me too, SW. It's easy to "love" a handsome guy with both talent and a big heart.

Angie said...

My dentist? Plays Christian pop music on the loudspeakers and the TV's are set to Fox News. I almost dumped him b/c it's so annoying. It's already torture going to the dentist (sorry MLWB, but it is).

Not dissing anybody who likes Christian pop or Fox, just don't want it forced on me when I'm already in the torture chair.

Angie said...

Morning Kathleen! Or afternoon! Okay, I guess that means the icing gets frozen, and is it good frozen? I'm such an ice cream cake virgin, clearly!

Lisa said...

Ugh, I need to get housework done sooo badly, but I keep farming and playing. We've got high winds here today and my neighbor just lost part of his shed roof into my backyard. Fun times!

I think the sitemeter is public now, if anyone cares and likes to check such things. Just click on it down there and it brings up the stats. I stuck one with a counter on here, too.

I'm too lazy to go look...can someone tell me what BlissDom actually is? Is it the name of the convention or something else?

twirldawg said...

BlissDom is a blogging convention like BlogHer.

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

Haha! SW, You would hate my office more. He listens to talk radio. UGH.

Lisa said...

Thanks, Jill. Is it just me, or does that sounds like a really boring convention?

Angie said...

It's the name of the blogger convention, AP.

twirldawg said...

Well, I'd rather go to BlissDom than a MarkKay convention.

The swag sounds cool though.

Kathleen said...

Ck, ha, I might know your BIL, or else I'll meet him soon. This town is so tiny, comparatively.

PJ said...

I'm watching a travel show about Barcelona, and seeing places that Corinne visited.

PJ said...

It's beautiful!

PJ said...

Kathleen,
He teaches at the college (university?). Construction management.

Kathleen said...

Yes, SW, the icing gets frozen. It is good that way, but I haven't used homemade frosting yet, (I love me some Betty Crocker) so I don't know if it sucks when frozen. The only downside to an ice cream cake is how much room they take up in the freezer once they are put together.

:::sneaking quietly in:::

Hi everyone, and I want to say I second Heather, and that I am happy that I can chat here, too! Nice to see some of you from OHIH, as well :)

I am hoping Sandy (Just A Thought) shows up!

Kathleen said...

I live right be the U.

Blissdom sounds like a kink convention, I must say.

Angie said...

Bella! So happy to see you! How are things? Still loving the new job?

Anonymous said...

Going well, SW! Job is still great, things are good. Had the funeral for my grandma yesterday, it was very nice (as nice as a funeral can be, I guess.)

How are you doing? I've missed you :)

Angie said...

A lawyer I work with went to a Furrie convention once. Still scratching my head over that one.

Anonymous said...

Here's my thing, SW. Sex is hot and sweaty a lot, without wearing a giant fur suit. I would spontaneously combust if I had sex in a mascot costume.

PJ said...

SW,
My son and DIL go to Anime conventions and RPG (role playing game) conventions.

I've stopped in at the hotels during the conventions to see them a few times, and it's more than bizarre. But people are having a great time. Not for me, but fun to see the action.

Way more interesting than something called "Blissdom".

PJ said...

The costumes can be really well done too.

Angie said...

Oh yes, the funeral! I'm glad that it went well.

I'm doing great. My first full day without SIP was pretty horrible. I billed a shitload of hours at work though! The nature of my work, probably 80 percent of the time, is just me at my desk at my computer. I mean, I see people throughout the day, my best friend works with me and we have a "morning visit" and an "afternoon visit," but it can get lonely. So checking in on SIP was a way of shaking the cobwebs and connecting with people. Without it, lordy, the first day was l-o-n-g!

The second day was a bit better though, and the third. The truth is I've been neglecting work and spending too much time "playing" online. So I'm hoping to develop more responsible habits.

You know, I was thinking this morning that all I do is talk about myself. I'm as self absorbed as Mck, truly. My excuse is that I don't have kids so I never had to learn to be selfless. Wonder what Mck's excuse is?

Tee said...

Southern Woman- A Superbowl party and you didn't invite me? I'm going to pout now.

Kristin- Sesame Street Live sounds like fun! I love that you take him to events like that!

Corrine- I now have Delta Dawn going through my head. Thanks a bunch.

Kathleen- Your cake sounds delicious. I might have to try my hand at the recipe! That sounds so good!

Southern Woman- I'd strangle my dentist if he played Christian pop while he was working on my mouth. And I like some Christian pop music. Just saying...

Angie said...

"Sex is hot and sweaty a lot, without wearing a giant fur suit." LOL EXACTLY, Bella! WTF?

CK, My friend Mark was in Atlanta and ran across DragonCon there, and liked it so much that he wants to organize a DragonCon road trip for next year. I'm not sold on the idea yet. But trying to keep an open mind.

Anonymous said...

Mck's excuse is that she was born a narcissist, and has no control.

Interesting finds about the "Deed for Contract" on their house, as well.

Anonymous said...

Are you into Dragons, SW?

Angie said...

Hi Tee! Anybody who can make it here by 6:00 tomorrow is invited! The only reason I didn't dump the dentist is that I've been going there for 20 years and am change-adverse. And my dentist is really good with scheduling so you hardly have to wait at all.

Angie said...

I've got to go read that Mck house stuff so I can understand what's going on. I'm not into dragons, Bella. I don't dislike them. I'm not like a dragon-racist, or anything.

Why, are you into them? Because dragon sex sounds even hotter than furrie sex.

Angie said...

And by "hotter," I mean in a combustible way.

Anonymous said...

I can't fathom 30 inches of snow, Sarah. We get huge drifts where I live; I think we would have drifts halfway up the doors if we got that much snow.

Hopefully you made your bread and milk run, lol.

Tee said...

Hey Southern Woman! Will there be chocolate at this party? I am in bad need of chocolate. I guess I could be forgiving if I didn't have to wait for weeks to get an appointment. That's a pain. I don't like change either. We are attempting to move to MS and the thought of leaving my doctor is overwhelming with all we've been through together!

PJ said...

SW,
I can just hear it - burn, baby, burn.
(talk dirty to me)

Anonymous said...

LOL, no, I am not into dragons, sexually or otherwise. DragonCon just sounds like such a niche convention!

Do people just dress up like dragons, or discuss dragons?

I can't believe this is occupying my mind :D

Angie said...

ROFLMAO CK!

Tee, oatmeal chocolate-chip peanut butter cookies is all the chocolate I have planned. But I'd make a chocolate run for ya! You may be leaving NOLA, Tee? Wow, other than the doctor thing, would you be happy about leaving?

Angie said...

Bella, according to my friend who saw it, it wasn't all about dragons. It seemed like the descriptions of comiccon I've heard. It may just be Atlanta's "version" of ComicCon.

Angie said...

Hi Sarah! I missed you coming in. Because I was talking about myself, my favorite thing, ugh.

I don't get the milk thing either. I guess some people can't live without their morning cereal?

PJ said...

My son and DIL go to CONvergence - I just looked it up - Science Fiction and Fantasy focus. They've also attended Anime Detour (Japanese popular culture focus).

twirldawg said...

Bella- DragonCon isn't about Dragons. It's a scifi/costuming convention.

SW- a friend of ours goes every year. He owns a batmobile and is very into costuming.

Angie said...

It's cool that your son and DIL enjoy doing those things together, i.e., that they share the same interests.

Anonymous said...

Jill, a real batmobile? That is commitment!

Angie said...

LOL a batmobile? Where do you get a batmobile? I hope it's not a Toyota! ;-)

twirldawg said...

Bella- yeah, he is also an Elvis impersonator (the later years) and a high school band director.

Hi Sarah :)

Angie said...

I've been reading your blog today, Sarah. Your Potato is so cute! I especially liked the "mad" pictures on day 32. Precious!

PJ said...

Hey all,
Husband and I are doing a in town vacation for one night. The company I work for PT (accounting) is having their annual party. At a local Marriott. Some people stay overnight for a really good rate.

This is the same hotel we had our wedding reception at. Good memories - that was a great party!

So, since he's been out of work for over a year, and we can't even think about a normal vacation, we decided to stay overnight and call this our vacation.

Dog is going to the neighbors (doxie lovers who give him lots of treats). He will still mope around.

And I promised husband I wouldn't bring the mac. So, I'm about to be out of here for a while.

Trudy said...

Sarah I hope you have a way to get heat if you lose power.

Hi Everyome.

Angie said...

CK, that sounds like fun! I love a night in a hotel. Have a great time!

Kathleen said...

The plus about loosing power during a snow storm, is its a giant refrigerator/freezer right outside. I got my cooler out and put it by the back door, in case we lost power during the last nasty storm we had (over 4 feet of snow in 4 days) but, Ha, now it's buried. And the power didn't go out.

PJ said...

SW - I'm hoping for a king sized bed.

Kathleen said...

I want a batmobile.
Reckon you have to make those yourself or spend tons of cash.

Lisa said...

Bella, Sarah - hello!!

Jake goes to both Megacon and Metrocon every year...lots of furries at both. I don't get it either but they always hit on him. Most every picture taken of him, in fact, has a furrie just in the background, watching him. It's weird as hell but funny.

CK, enjoy your vacation. :-)

Angie said...

LOL on the cooler being buried. Good luck on the bed, CK!

I'm having no luck coaxing myself out of this chair and into cleaning, so I'm going to go take a nap. See ya'll later!

Angie said...

"Most every picture taken of him, in fact, has a furrie just in the background, watching him. It's weird as hell but funny."

HAHAHA, AP! Fantastic imagery! Your boy smiling at the camera while some giant squirrel lurks in the background. Awesome.

Lisa said...

SW, he's typically dressed as an anime schoolgirl, which makes it funnier yet. Or more weird. I'm not sure which.

PJ said...

AP,
Those perverted squirrels and their schoolgirl fetishes.

PJ said...

Triple sheets, five pillows, pillowtop mattress, and duvet. I know from some of you I should be grossed out about sleeping in a bed others have slept in, but can I say just how inviting this sounds?

Off for good now.

PJ said...

Or at least for 24 hours.

Kathleen said...

Have fun CK. I have no problem with beds others have slept in either. Whatever doesn't kill you only makes you stronger, right? Plus, you won't have to make that bed, or wash those sheets, and if you eat breakfast in bed tomorrow, you don't need to worry about crumbs...

Anonymous said...

Hi everyone...do you mind if I join in.

I'm here Bella if that's okay with everyone. I missed all you guys!
