Hey all!

Just dropping by for a few minutes - I need to catch up.

I'm a snake, btw.

kristin said...

Morning ladies!

Interesting conversation last night, sorry I missed it.

AP - You are a wonderful and supportive mother. I also appreciate your honesty.

Happy Chinese New Year!

LM slept until around 6:30 without coming into my room. It was nice! I did wake up around 3:00 to check on him.

He still has a cough but is not wheezing this morning.

Anonymous said...

Morning Ladies!

Kristin, that's good news about LM sleeping. Even better with no wheezing.

kristin said...

Morning Sandy! thanks!

How are you?

Anonymous said...

Tired but good. And you?

kristin said...

Sandy - i am good! Tired too but I will survive. I'm hungry too! Why are you tired?

Happy Valentine's day and Happy Chinese New Year!

Anonymous said...

My son does not sleep well at all. He had horrible sleeping habits and I can seem to break them. No matter how tired he is when he goes to bed, 6am on the dot the boy is up and ready for his day. Me on the other hand, not so much.

kristin said...

how old is he?

I feel your pain - LM is up b/w 6-7 every morning. :(

Anonymous said...

He's four. I guess I should be grateful. It used to be 5am.

Anonymous said...

Now my 9 year old is screaming on top of her lungs that the four year old is calling her names and looking at her. This is sun up to sun down. The four year old knows how to push buttons. Can anyone say iPod on full blast?

PJ said...

Morning Kristin, Sandy, Corinne - and wait - was that SG and her farm?

Glad to hear LM is feeling better. The good night's sleep probably helped.

PJ said...

Sandy - happy belated birthday to that cute little canine of yours!

"Mom!!! Make him stop looking at me!!!"

I remember those days.

Anonymous said...

Morning CK. I'm grateful that the black and white areas were discussed. I think I know how to help my kid some.

Anonymous said...

CK it's that commerical "I'm not touching you!" That boy of mine can push her buttons with the best of them.

kristin said...

Sandy - makes me grateful that I have one right now :) Its just me and him....well and SO when he is awake or around. I do get "stop looking at me" and "i not your friend" but I can deal, and most of the time I can supress my inner child :)

Morning CK - yes, I think the good night sleep and the long nap yesterday helped.

kristin said...

How was your day yesterday CK? Did you do anything different with your hair?

PJ said...

Gotta go already. Since I monopolized the convo last night, that's probably a good thing.
Bye!

PJ said...

Hair - same thing as usual - color, cut, style. Too expensive, however. It's my one splurge.

kristin said...

See ya CK! Have a good one!

Anonymous said...

Later CK.

Anonymous said...

Hi again!

Very interesting conversation last night - wish I'd been there to participate. I have my thoughts on the black and white thing.

Anonymous said...

Ok. Here's what I think:

There are black and whites, universal ones. The Holocaust; the Mylai massacre; the Armenian genocide; The Tutsi genocide; etc.

Those are universally morally reprehensible as they go against natural laws (by that, I imply ethical principles which are overriding).

(The Holocaust was actually so unthinkable that when the Nuremberg trial took place, judges had to refer to these natural laws to condemn these acts as no legislation had genocide written down as a crime since the destruction of an entire people was beyond inconceivable.)

Of course, it begs the question of tolerance. If you declare yourself completely tolerant, then you have no way of acknowledging the aforementioned massacres as crimes against humanity. But, that's another issue.

I do think, however, that once people's opinions are involved, there will be many shades of gray.

Even if you are antisemitic and believe that what Hitler, Himmler and co. did was for the sake of a superior people, the aryan race, it does not make the Shoah any less of a moral black; something that goes against every universal logical and ethical law.

kristin said...

On the Chinese Zodiac - I am a Rabbit - which seems to fit my personality.

Anonymous said...

Hey Kristin! I read about LM having brochiolitis. I hope he'll get to feeling better soon.

I'm a snake and it fits my personality. I mean, I don't believe in that stuff but there are things that are just strangely accurate.
I once read a description of my zodiacal sign (I'm a taurus with an ascendant sign of cancer - I know it because I have quirky friends who wanted to know ;) ) and it described me very well. Weird, I tell you.

Anonymous said...

I'm a monkey...go figure! lol

Anonymous said...

Lol Sandy! :p

Anonymous said...

Corrine, I'm an Aries and yeah, the pretty much describes me too! lol

Happy Valentine's everyone!

Did you see MWOP this morning? Interesting stuff. Wonder which sheeple will end up living in the Mound MckMansion?

Speculation on JM's newest blog alliance: Becca. Yes, the April Rose one. JM keeps talking about "redemption" and forgiveness and whatnot...she aligns with Becca (no really, more than 2 tweets and the trifecta post, actual guest blogging and so forth), then Becca screws everyone over again, then oh no, what evil person would do that to poor, preggo, COMPASSIONate JM? Click factor abounds. Especially in the beginning. Sheeple will be out in force, and it's controversial. None of them would EVER forgive her, how on earth could JM? Anyway, just my first thought as to who she may be joining forces with...trainwreck, for sure.

Amy said...

We're on our way to visit family for Valentine's...lunch w/ my mom, then dinner at home, then dessert with the in laws. Good thing there's no school tomorrow...kids will be hyped up. Hope everyone has a great day, I will catch you later (and catch up here later)!

kristin said...

my thought is Angie ...just because she is defensive about her all of a sudden. I will be honest, I don't read her until you guys mentioned she mentioned JM.

kristin said...

hi and bye Amy!

Have a good one!

Angie said...

Morning all, or afternoon to the east coasters! I really enjoyed reading the discussion from last night. Wish I could stay up that late, but my bed starts calling me at about 10:00. Yeah, I'm old!

It was good to see SG check in! Come back SG!

Also haven't seen Bella in a few days. Stop back by, Bella! We miss you!

Anonymous said...

I personally think it's the person who calls everyone cockroaches myself.

Anonymous said...

SW- My parents go to bed at about 9 pm. Yes, that early. It has always been so (well, at least as far as I can remember!)

I usually stay up until 1 am and wake up at 6 am during weekdays - I have serious issues ;)

Kristin & Amy- I think Kristin is right, Angie sounds like she might collaborate with JM (I would lose a lot of respect for her if she were to do that). Beccah is probably in a mental facility somewhere...

kristin said...

GM...seriously? that would be interesting. I have noticed she has been online a lot using her gmail account that she used while on OHIH!

Anonymous said...

Sandy- Hmmm...I don't know, I mean JM has nothing to gain from collaborating with GM since GM has no followers and all...But maybe you're right.

Angie said...

Okay, let's start a betting pool. I say it's absolutely PC that she's merging with. No doubt whatsoever.

Anonymous said...

Hi everyone :) Real life has interfered with internet life, but in a good way. To be honest, I am trying to limit my time online, and focus on other things.

Anyway, I think JM is going to merge with Angie, but on a separate blog. They will both keep their original sites, but have a joint site. Now, the million dollar question is: what is the new site going to be about?

If she merges with PC or GM, well, I will probably throw my laptop. JM is a shrewd biotch, she wouldn't share with someone unless she was going to get more readers/more money.

Anonymous said...

Ooh SW, you may be right on that one. I can't imagine he'd have anything very interesting to say though.

Angie said...

Bella! Glad you checked in! Limiting your online time is a good idea; I have trouble in execution.

Don't throw your laptop! It will break and you will miss it. You guys are making me start to doubt my conviction that PC is her new co-blogger. She said it was someone "near and dear to her heart" though. So it almost has to be family, no?

Anonymous said...

What makes me think GM maybe is the redemption and forgiveness. You know they had the forgiveness talk and the dual giveaway.

Anonymous said...

What PC going to give away, roadkill?

Anonymous said...

But, someone "near and dear to her heart" could be anyone!! She isn't like you and me! She calls her readers "my dear friends", "loves", etc.

I am going to throw into the betting pool and go with Hilary, her sister.

Anonymous said...

Hey Sandy! :D

Anonymous said...

Hey Bella...please don't throw your laptop. lol

I don't think it's Hilary. I don't know. Like you said all her reader are her friends.

Lisa said...

Checking in fast before leaving...I agree, it's Israel. They're going to have a marriage blog, giving advice. Second thought is her mom, giving out even more parenting advice.

Hope everyone is well today and I'll be back later to catch up. I want to think about Corinne's black and white thoughts some more. :-)

kristin said...

Bye AP! Have a good day!

Anonymous said...

I'm out, too. Off to IKEA to buy two new lamps for the living room: a floor lamp and a table lamp. Yes, V-Day presents from Jay. I'm easy to please.

Take care everyone!

Robin in Montana said...

I'm just popping in and out to say hi, too. More typing today. Grrr.

Kristin -- I went to the post office this morning and there was a lovely package from you! Thank you so very much -- can't wait to try them all out! :)

Anonymous said...

RIM, You work at home typing too. So do I. Fun Times as I call it. I just do general transcription but I'm a legal secretary by trade.

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

Hello everyone!
I have been on a little break from boards. It was just taking too much away from family etc.
I have a feeling the merge might be with her friend sailorandcompany.blogspot.com
Not sure why, but just a guess. I can't imagine her husband has anything to add. Also, a marriage blog would just be annoying. The Freemans have one, and I deleted them from my list. Couldn't even read it.
Hope everyone is well!

Robin in Montana said...

Sandy -- I didn't realize that. Who do you do work for? I like the legal because the deadlines are longer (everything starts out with at least 30 days, and I can ask for extensions, too) but that also works against me (which this weekend is an example of) because I tend to procrastinate on ones that I know will be boring or hard to hear and do the "fun" ones first.

Anonymous said...

MLwB & Bella- Don't stay away so long! We've missed you :)

AP- I don't know if I'll still be on when you come back but know that I'm always up for a good debate ;)

RiM- I hope you'll have time to talk some more with us later :)

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

Corinne,
I just watched Nip Tuck from last week and thought of you:)

Anonymous said...

I used to work for a mother/daughter team out of San Diego. I just work for the daughter now. the mother has stiffed me out of over a grand. It's general stuff like focus groups, one-on-one interviews. So of it's interesting, otherwise zzz. I never have steady work. Some weeks I'll be swamped and work 7 days, then a dry spell comes and I get nothing for weeks.

Anonymous said...

so/some

Anonymous said...

MLwB- Was it good? I've got a few episodes to catch up on. That's the problem when you love too many tv shows...

Angie said...

MLWB, Hi! How are the boys? We've missed you!

Sandy, I hope it's not GM. Mck would be stupid to pick someone controversial to merge with, don't you think? I mean, some people really like PC -- inexplicably AP being one of them -- and many women feel sorry for him for being married to her. He would initially increase her clicks. But that initial interest would wane.

I don't see any way she's going to be able to prolong her blogging into a long-term career. She needs to be sending her husband to business classes so he can get his business back on track. Otherwise, her kids may be sleeping under cribs in a tiny apartment soon.

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

It was odd. I don't want to give it away!

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

Hi SW! How are you doing?
We are good, busy week. Son2 had a Birthday, Valentine parties etc. Fun stuff though.

Anonymous said...

SW- I agree that I doubt her blogging is a sustainable way to make a living. One day or another she'll have to find a real job or else, the IRS will cause her mucho trouble ;)

MLwB- Well, it gets me curious. I'll have to catch up on the episodes I've missed this week then ;)

Speaking of TV series, Desperate Housewives is on tonight, so I'll check in tomorrow!

Have a good afternoon all!

Angie said...

MLWB, I just caught up with your blog. It's super cool of you to make goodie bags for all your boys' classmates! I bet you are everybody's favorite friend's mom!

I'm doing great, MLWB! Very much enjoying the Olympics. Pairs figure skating starts tonight! So does the Amazing Race! Good times!

On a less happy note, we're supposed to get snow tonight, and I have no milk or bread. :-(

Angie said...

Bye Corinne!

Jill, are you guys supposed to get snow too?

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

SW,
I love doing it for the kids. My boys get so excited to hand them out too. I only do it 2x a year.
We've been watching the Olympics also. I am tired in the morning though. Love the Amazing Race. It starts tonight right?
I can't stop laughing about the snow. We have mostly grass showing. The snow is just about gone. I don't know what is going on. But no snow here for a while. Stay safe!
Corrine,
I will need to DVR DH tonight. Too many things on Tv!

Anonymous said...

MLwB...hi :) Good to see ya.

We must have gotten your snow down here in TX! We've had way more than usual this year.

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

Hey Christy! Good to see you too:)
Enjoy the snow! I do feel bad, realy. I do.

Angie said...

Definitely too many good things on TV tonight! That is, if there's a new Brothers and Sisters. Love that show!

A couple of weeks ago I got a new HDTV for my bedroom; my current bedroom TV is the TV I've had for 20 years, at least. But I haven't hooked up the new TV yet because I haven't had time to watch all the shows I have Tivoed on the "old" TV, and the new TV isn't compatible with my non-HD Tivo. (Or at least I think it isn't. I could be wrong about that.)

The bottom line is that I could use fewer TV shows. Something needs to go!

Angie said...

Yes, AR starts tonight! The the cute patootie couple from last summer's Big Brother -- forgot their names -- are racing together. They are dumb as boxes of rocks, so I doubt they will do too well!

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

SW
Hubby surprised me with a hdtv for our bedroom for xmas. He mounted it on the wall. We have 2 dvr's. They are almost full. Too many shows! We both dvr shows, so it gets crazy! You need to get your new tv up and running STAT!

Angie said...

Yeah, I do MLWB! I bought one of those things to mount mine to the wall. I guess it's a good thing I'm making up with my work spouse, because he was supposed to mount it for me and if I dump him, I'll have to find someone else!

Okay, speaking of dumb as boxes of rocks, guess who else is on AR? Remember the beauty queen who got the question and answered like this?:

"I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some people out there in our nation don't have maps and, uh, I believe that our, uh, education like such as, uh, South Africa and, uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and, I believe that they should, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, or, uh, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future, for our children".

Yup, she's racing too!!

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

AR should be fun! I love when they all fight. My hubby and I would end up divorced if we went on that show. We have trouble in the car! He is horrible with directions. I would go nuts in another country. I'm looking forward to it!
Yup, get that hubby to mount that tv quick!

Robin in Montana said...

Thanks for the reminder about AR! Kelly has never watched before, so I hope this is a good season. I loved the days of the cousins -- Charla and whatever her name was, and the Miss Alli recaps at TWOP.

PJ said...

I'm a pig.

::whispering and hiding so no one notices::

Angie said...

What did you do, CK? Why are you a pig?

PJ said...

Corinne,
I agree with what you said about universal black and white! Will be waiting with baited breath for AP's thoughts on it.

PJ said...

SW - you're mean.

PJ said...

"baited breath" s/be "bated breath"

Angie said...

Duh, not mean. Just slow on the uptake today. Sorry!

PJ said...

Teasing, SW.

I was laughing when I typed it. Damn the absence of tone on the internet...

A chinese pig. Or a vietnamese potbelly pig.

Angie said...

Just learned something new today. I've always wrote it as "baited breath."

Angie said...

CK, knew you were teasing! (Even though I'm about as sharp as a marble toay, generally speaking!)

Amy said...

Home from Mom's, dinner cooking under my not so watchful eye...trying to catch up.

SW: "Otherwise, her kids may be sleeping under cribs in a tiny apartment soon."

True, oh, so true. And that under 1000 chick SCARES ME.

Amy said...

Kristin, I hope LM is better today!

Kathleen said...

Good afternoon, ladies. I'm A snake and almost everyone I spend any time with is a sheep, son, DH, brother, etc...

I've been out of town, bring a driver for a friend of my dads, and finally earning some money.
So far behind on here already, the posts on the holocaust are taunting me to go back and catch up.

Lovely to "see" ya'll though.

Angie said...

Hi Kathleen! Welcome back! I love the ice cream cake pics on your blog. Except now I'm hungry!

Robin in Montana said...

I'm a Rooster.

ROOSTER: The Rooster is a hard worker; shrewd and definite in decision making often speaking his mind. Because of this, you tend to seem boastful to others. You are a dreamer, flashy dresser, and extravagant to an extreme. Born under this sign you should be happy as a restaurant owner, publicist, soldier or world traveler.

I just spoke my mind at SIP. I hope I don't get kicked off, becuase I do like it there, but I have a bad feeling about it. :(

Angie said...

I don't think you'll get banned Robin. The leadership has said -- and I tend to believe her -- that she won't ban people for speaking their mind on the board.

Hi to anybody from SIP who may be reading! I miss you!

twirldawg said...

I just took a very long, much needed nap.

SW- I think they are calling for snow for us too.

Angie said...

Glad you got a good nap, Jill. If I'd quit surfing the net and got some work done, maybe I'd "earn" a nap myself! I've been at work for four hours and have done about 10 minutes of work.

Ugh. I'm going to get a big L tattoed on my forehead.

Kathleen said...

HI SW, Thanks.

The bad part about catching up is I want to post on stuff from 3 days ago, too late for me. But what is MWoP? I love me some freak show stuff...

Robin in Montana said...

SW -- I hope not.

Angie said...

MWoP = MckMama without Pity. http://www.mckmamawithoutpity.blogspot.com/

It's good stuff!

Kathleen said...

Woo hoo, Thanks for the dirt. Not that I need more things to read online. But still.

Angie said...

"that I need more things to read online."

Seriously, Kathleen. I need a 12 step program for internet addiction as it is!

Anonymous said...

SW, today's was pretty good wasn't it.

Angie said...

Very cool. I'm thoroughly enjoying MWOP. I do think I have a character defect that I enjoy so much Mck being "brought down to size." Why do I give her the power to annoy me so much? Why does the thought of her crying in her closet over mean internet posts make me happy? Why would her unhappiness bring me pleasure? Does that make me a terrible person?

It's all very interesting, the issues that Mck brings up. I mean, it involves religion, politics, social mores, and so many other things! Someone should write a book about all this. Or start a blog. Oh wait . . . nevermind.

kristin said...

Hey ladies! I've done absolutely nothing, today except feed the little creature and give him a breathing treatment and take a nap. We've been bums together.

The nap was nice but it could have been longer.

He is playing with cars - I bought him a set (like he needs more) for V-day!

Amy - LM isn't acting sick - he really hasn't in the last few days - just coughing and wheezing. No wheezing today and his cough is more productive.

RiM - I'm sorry you feel as though you might get kicked off. You shouldn't have to worry about that kind of thing.

oink, oink CK! :)

Hi Kathleen! Welcome back!

Anonymous said...

Kristin, glad to hear LM cough is more productive.

Kathleen said...

HI Kristen.

Glad your babe is feeling better.

Angie said...

Lord have mercy, I'm lame. I've been at work for more than six hours, and finally finished something that I can only bill 2 hours for. I suck!

Now I'm going to see if the grocery store is too full of panicked bread and milk seekers for me to risk going in. (It's snow day eve, ya know.)

Robin in Montana said...

SW - I am as lame, or lamer than you. I've managed to type a grand total of 35 pages today. I had 100 as a goal. ::avoids eye contact::

What's everyone having for dinner? Kelly bought enough chicken for half the county the other night and grilled it, so I'm shredding leftovers and sauteeing carrots, onions, celery, zucchini, carrots, and adding chicken stock and egg noodles for chicken noodle soup. Original, huh? Maybe some baking powder biscuits if I don't get too lazy.

kristin said...

SW - sorry, that does suck and good luck at the grocery. don't forget TP.

RiM - I am really bad, LM had scrambled eggs and I had grilled cheese and spaghetti-o's.

My house is a disaster and I don't want to clean. The nap did no good, made me more sleepy and now my eyes burn.

Robin in Montana said...

Kristin -- I can't nap. I wake up feeling totally retarded and just like crap, wehther I take a 20-minute "power nap" or a two-hour nap.

Grilled cheese sounds good ...

Kathleen said...

I got a pre made pizza crust on sale so we are having pizza, yum. I was gonna make soup, but am feeling extra lazy. And also, my dh is out of town for work right now, and Miles won't eat soup I make unless it comes out of can, so I will wait until there is someone 'round to appreciate my hard work, as it were.

Robin in Montana said...

Kathleen -- we had that Friday night, those Boblio crusts and the kids had pepperoni and pineapple and black olives. We had pepperoni, Canadian bacon, mushrooms, black and green olives, green peppers and onions. It was SO good!

Robin in Montana said...

Okay, I"m out. Kelly is upstairs chopping vegetables and muttering about drinking all the vodka.

kristin said...

Bye RiM - have a good evening...although I do NOT want details :)

Kathleen - we made homemade pizza once and let the kids (LM and my niece) make their own, they really enjoyed it. I might do it again but I hate all the work for just both of us.

kristin said...

Where is everyone tonight?

Lisa said...

Hey, I'm back! Glad to see MLWB and Bella are, too. :-) Kristin, hope LM is feeling better.

We had a nice day today. I took Miss Arse and Jake to IndiaFest and it was perfect weather...very chilly but bright and sunny. Since everything is outside in the open, it felt good to stand out in the sun. We then took her on a walk down memory lane throughout Melbourne we lived down there, sort of, when I was a kid. She'd not been at all in many years and she really enjoyed seeing how everything had changed and seeing er folks' old house they had down here when they retired. It was just a nice day. We had some side dish at IndiaFest tht I'm trying to identify, It was a crusty pocket, sort of like a Hot Pocket only rounder, and had diced potatoes, scallions and stuff in it. I'm pretty sure I was detecting cardamon in it, and I don't know what else but definitely no meat. Anyone have a clue what these are? Jake got some type of poultry dish and I'd bet money it was pigeon. I found that very amusing, for some reason. Anyway, that's the good stuff. Now, on to the not-so-good stuff I want to ramble about for a bit.

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

Pigeon? Oh gross. What kind of festival was this again? LOL
Sounds like a fun day for you all.

Angie said...

Hi AP! We missed you today! I think what you are describing is a samosa.

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

SW,
Why aren't you watching AR?

kristin said...

Hey AP, SW, MLwB!

Sounds like a fun and interesting day AP!

Angie said...

" Now, on to the not-so-good stuff I want to ramble about for a bit."

Waiting with bated breath, AP. (note the proper spelling CK!)

kristin said...

Me too SW!

What are you watching...olympics or AR?

Angie said...

Watching both, Kristin. Right now AR. Earlier Olympics. When I get to real time on AR, I'll switch back to Olympics.

Kathleen said...

I second the samosa nomination, AP. They are usually triangle, but I have seen them semi circle shaped. They are my most favorite Indian food item, that and aloo gobi. Which is peas and potatoes. MMMMM and garlic naan.

MY LIFE WITH BOYS! said...

I'm watching neither. Hubby is watching the Olympics. I don't have the patience to sit and watch TV tonight for some reason. Son2 is in our bed watching TV. I have no where to go but the computer. The one thing I am trying to do less of.

Angie said...

My favorite indian dish is "cheese and peas" (which has an indian name, of course!) And onion kulcha, which is flat bread filled with onions.

Kathleen said...

SW its something paneer, thats my son's favorite too. palak? something.

Angie said...

I can never remember Kathleen. Just googled it and palak paneer has spinach and cheese, not peas and cheese. It's definitely something paneer.

Angie said...

Mattar paneer, Kathleen.

Anonymous said...

Hi...I am coming down with a cold. Boo!

I always think samosas look like wizard hats, lol. And, I love them with a passion.

Garlic naan, yummo.

Angie said...

Hi Bella, sorry about your cold. I *like samosas, but I don't love them. I'd rather save the "space" for something I love, like more onion kulcha!

Angie said...

Kristin, did you say which you are watching? I just finished watching AR, and was astounded by who won the first leg!

Anonymous said...

I'm DVR'ing AR. Woo! I like the ice skating on the Olympics, so I am watching that right now :)

Angie said...

AR was good Bella. Maybe not Survivor good, but good. How did you like Survivor, by the way?

kristin said...

Trying to watch the olympics but had to do bath and then snuggle time and then bed. Along with watching my blood pressure rise b/c LM likes to test.

He is in bed now but I am sure he will be out a few more times. I am craving a crown and coke :)

Angie said...

How people drink crown is beyond me. ::shudder::

Anonymous said...

That's on the DVR too, I admit!

Lisa said...

When I got home, I found several emails from people about SIP, letting me know of a discussion going on there. Normally, I don't care but this time there were some things said that I'd like to clarify. Apparently some people think you had to be invited to come here and that I invited some and not others. Well, yes and no. I did email some people who had either never been included on SIP at all or who had been and then been kicked off and who had grown apart from the whole little OHIH community to let them know I was starting this place. These were people I'd liked a lot and not only knew I'd enjoy hearing from them regularly again, but also wanted them to know that they *are wanted. That the decision made to ban or not include them was not unanimous, by far. Some had been hurt by being excluded and I was hoping to undo some of that by contacting them personally. The others I let know ahead of time were people who I already spoke to via email on a regular basis, so it was a perfectly natural friend-to-friend thing to mention what I was thinking of doing and asking their opinion. No one else was "invited" because there was no need to invite anyone who would wind up hearing about this place via word of mouth in short order. In addition, for me to have sent out "invitations" would have appeared to be very tacky and childish, imo, as if I were looking to steal people away from SIP. Nothing could be further from the truth and I chose to avoid any hint of that. If someone needed to feel more special than others and receive a personal invitation, then I'm sorry I failed to add that warm, fuzzy touch for you but it means nothing more than that I either didn't feel bad for how you'd been treated in the past or we weren't good enough friends to be discussing it as normal stuff in our lives now. Nothing more or less. It's been made painfully clear that anyone can join in here and is welcome to do so, regardless of where else you post. That still stands. People can speak their mind here and will never be hand-slapped, moderated or banned for it. That's the best I can give everyone and it has been extended to everyone from day one.

Secondly, I understand there was some talking about the comments made here last night. Yep, we snarked. No question. It felt good, too, and it'll probably happen some more. :-D Personally, I thought it was nice that no one blurted out names and we managed to keep a modicum of privacy with it all but I understand that attempt went over like a wet fart. So, from here on out, I'll use names in the interest of being upfront and owning my words. Others can do as they please.

That's it! So, who is drinking tonight? And did anyone get anything good for Valentine's Day?

Lisa said...

Oh, thank you all - I Googled and they are samosas! And Kathleen, thanks again for naming the aloo gobi. We had that as well, and loved it...didn't know the name of that, either.

Bella, feel better. Are you still liking the new job?

kristin said...

Well said AP! I am sorry that you had to "moderate" - I do not know what was said at SIP and I think everyone should just grow up for goodness sakes!

I got flowers and balloons and muffins when I woke up. It was nice.

How about you? Did you get my e-mail (obviously not in regards to SIP)

Anonymous said...

I am trying. I have cranberry juice, Advil, and the Olympics to keep me company tonight. And, I like the job so much, I have decided to go in tomorrow :D

Anonymous said...

I am tuning out for a bit.

Angie said...

Awww, Kristin, I'm glad your SO treated you right! You deserve the best.

Lisa said...

Bella, that's really liking a job,alright!

Kristin, I wasn't moderating...I was just explaining, as me because that's all I am, why I did things the way I did and what I will do now as a regular poster here. :-) And no, I didn't...let me check my spam in a sec. That *was nice to wake up to, I bet!

Lisa said...

Bella, tuning out? As in going to bed or are you mad about something? :-/

Angie said...

<<---- hoping for a snow day.

Angie said...

I almost feel sorry for the sheeple posting on MWOP. They are seriously outgunned and outsmarted, but they keep trying. Bless their hearts.

Angie said...

Great, AP. You skeered everybody off with your mouthiness. Hmph.

PJ said...

I'm here. Trying to offer some perspective in other worlds.

PJ said...

Kristin - glad you got some sweet things this morning!

Angie said...

Whew, we're not alone! CK still loves us!

kristin said...

I am here too. Had to read a book. I still need to get my drink on!

Angie said...

Go get that nasty crown and coke, K.

kristin said...

WTF sarah? why? That makes no sense.

I'm sorry!

Nikki B. said...

hola to all!

kristin said...

Sarah - sorry about the headache!

Hey Nikki B!

PJ said...

AP,
Thank you for writing what you did about last night.

May I say that the content of the convo about the anonymous person could have been about a number of people I know on-line.

Even though I thought the clue indicated who it was, after reading through the comments again, I wasn't so sure.

Angie said...

Hi Sarah and Hola Nikki! Sarah, I'm sorry about the headache and the banning. You will never be banned from here. Your valentine's dinner looked yummy! I love ceviche! I've looked up some recipes and want to make it, but haven't quite got the nerve yet.

Nikki B. said...

sarah - damn...another one bites the dust? sorry about that. good riddance!

kristin - sorry about LM. hope he feels better soon.

and dammit, i missed snark last night?? sucks...it's my favorite!

Kathleen said...

Oh lord, why must all kids movies be musicals? If ya'll have the chance to see the rats of nihm 2 I recommend skipping it. Santa brought it for Miles (stupid stupid santa) and the songs are worse than atrocious. gag!

Nikki B. said...

sarah - the privacy of that place seemed nice, but, it's the internet, so how private was it really?

i just don't like the rules set, and the power trip that admins of invite forums seem to develop.

Angie said...

Okay, it's almost 10:00, so I'm out! Have a nice evening all!

Lisa said...

*laughing at Nikki missing the snark*
It's okay, it'll happen again about someone, somewhere.

"Even though I thought the clue indicated who it was, after reading through the comments again, I wasn't so sure."

CK, I'm with you. For quite awhile I thought I knew and then, suddenly, I realized I might be wrong.

Sarah, I know Won said you were leaving there so I think you're right about the "banning." I think she probably just did a little house-keeping, figuring you'd not be back. Given the rules there, coupled with knowing you're here, I don't blame her for that. I hope you get to feeling better soon, too.

SW, I did not run people off! Well, okay, I'm a little skeered I ran Bella off and if I did,I'm going to feel just awful. :-(

PJ said...

SW - goodnight. I got 2 1/2 hours of work done today. How'd you do?

Angie said...

Oh, I don't think you ran Bella off, AP. She's not feeling great tonight.

Angie said...

Don't ask CK. I was AT work for well over six hours, and billed about 2 hours of time. :-(

kristin said...

goodnight SW!

Sarah - that sucks - I didn't think they were going to ban anyone else - I wonder if they took a vote and had their little committee officially ban you.

I'm sorry - but welcome to the club!

Lisa said...

There's a committee?

And SW, I hope you're right about Bella. I mean, not that I'm glad she's sick, just that I hope I didn't piss her off.

PJ said...

I had to work on a project that didn't involve using the computer. That's probably the only way I got 2 1/2 hours.

PJ said...

So, how 'bout them Olympic athletes?

Lisa said...

Which ones, CK? Were there any good falls?

PJ said...

Just trying to make convo

Decent one in the men's frestyles

kristin said...

there were some good spills on moguls! that sport just looks like it hurts and i am sure that those athletes have serious knee problems later in life.

Can i just say, i hate the keyboard on this computer!!!!!!!!!!!

Lisa said...

CK, I appreciate the effort. We got very quiet, didn't we?

I really should be watching the Olympics, I guess. When I was younger, it was such a major deal to watch. A family thing, like Miss America. Now, not so much, I think.

PJ said...

The women's freestyle - can I just say how young, innocent and "fresh" those ladies look.

Lisa said...

Fresh air and exercise will do that for you, I hear. Of course, I haven't tested it. ;-)

Nilia said...

::peeking out and getting ready to de-lurk::

......

Hi everyone!

I would be a rooster. En francais, un coq.

Run with it.

And in other news.....

And can I just say how awesome it was to watch men's moguls, I was SO SO proud of the Canadians, but man there were so many good runs. Noah is so thrilled with Canada's first gold on home soil!

PJ said...

Hey FT!

Nilia said...

Back to a very very earlier comment:

God I hope her alliance IS with the infamous Beccah. It would mean the demise of MckM and her blog income would dry up. Unless I am grossly misjudging humanity. Again.

Nilia said...

Hey CK! I've been meaning to ask you, how's your dad doing these days?

PJ said...

We're keeping him busy. Trip to Chicago to see his adult grandson. Five females staying with him this past weekend (his daughter, 2 granddaughters and 2 greatgranddaughters).

Hubby does stuff with him too.

He's tired.

Lisa said...

FT, hello!!! Awww, it's so good to see you. :-)

kristin said...

Hey FT!

Nilia said...

AP: Samosas, yum! I live in a predominantly Indian (sikh) neighbourhood and I just love samosas.

kristin said...

So off topic - the V-day card I got SO!

Has a pic of the tin man, the lion, scarecrow and the wizard from the wizard of oz.

A dialogue box from the tin man "I'd like a big.... Uh, well....uh"

Below the pic: "Little do most people know, the heart wasn't the tinman's first organ of choice."

Inside card "Happy Valentine's day from the bottom of my heart."

Hee hee!

Lisa said...

Oh! It just dawned on me...I bet JM is merging with her dad. He's all tied up in some sort of missionary work, right? That'll bring clicks in.

Nilia said...

Hey AP and Kristin!

Is this a good place to get recipes? Yesterday, on a whim I bought a slow cooker. I had 1 before, made some recipes, hated it, got rid of it. Based on rave reviews by some of you, I'm going to give it a go. Any tried and true recipes out there? Someone once described fall off the bone ribs which appeals to me (not personally, I don't like red meat much but sounds like it'd be a good thing to serve).

PJ said...

Kristin - that's hilarious!

kristin said...

FT - I'd hit up RiM...and a few others...and CK!

Don't take recipes from me...I need as much help as anyone can give me. Dinner tonight for me was Spaghetti -o's and grilled cheese!

PJ said...

FT - I have the recipe thread from OHIH in a word document. I think Robin put it together??? So she gets the credit.

I'll e-mail it to you. There are rib recipes in it, and other slow cooker items.

kristin said...

can you e-mail me too CK? Since my computer bit the dust, I don't have anything anymore!

Lisa said...

Kristin, I bet he loved that. ;-)

Oh, I meant to mention, I saw just the oddest thing today. Two Indian men (FT, Sikhs wear the turbans, right?) holding hands, obviously a couple. My first thought was no, it's maybe some cultural thing to hold hands but as I watched them, it was plain to see they were together. I'm not quite sure why I found this so odd, but I did. FT mentioning Sikhs reminded me.

PJ said...

Done, Kristin.

Nilia said...

CK: glad to hear you guys are keeping him busy. I would imagine there's a lot of adjusting going on for him. How old is your dad?

Nilia said...

CK: that would be great! I have some recipes saved from that thread but not the slow cooker ones.

PJ said...

FT,
He's 82. He's declining cognitively - we're probably gonna be talking about selling his house this spring, and getting an apartment or condo.

Or moving to NC to live near my brother.

He says evenings are the hardest - as much as he griped about how unhappy he was with my mom, he does miss her.

kristin said...

thanks CK!

Lisa said...

CK, how would you feel about him moving to NC?

PJ said...

AP,
I think it would be great for a lot of reasons. He really admires my brother and sister in law. They have a pretty fun life there.

Plus they have two sons who were married in the last three years, and there's a little grandbaby boy. Their "boys" visit often - sometimes live with them for a month or so at a time (they do contract work so have time off between projects).

I have a hard time with dad - he's a racist, chauvenistic, Glenn Beck loving, ignorant old man. I love him, but he drives me crazy.

Nilia said...

AP: Yes, fully practicing Sikhs wear turbans and sport full beards. Sometimes loose fitting tops and pants in white I think, can't recall seeing coloured clothing around here. And they wear a kirpan, looks like a dagger and more for show than use. There was a big issue in my city (high Sikh population, not just in my immediate neighbourhood) with whether they should be allowed to wear kirpans or not, like in line at the grocery store which happens all the time. So far, they have been allowed to. No stabbings yet. People can be ridiculous.

Re: 2 Sikhs holding hands, I would bet that they are absolutely NOT a couple. It is not an uncommon practice and along with open signs of affection shows friendship, even kissing, arms around each other, and so on. Being openly gay would NOT go over well in that culture.

When you say they were together, what do you mean exactly? Like showing affection or more than that? I guess you saw it and I didn't but I wonder if you didn't misread it. Hmmm, I'm interested, tell me more.

Nilia said...

CK: I hear you. No matter if he and your mother bickered or whatever, she was there, part of his day, and her absence is probably glaring. My dad is only 68 but is getting a little muddled. He's always been scattered (me too, I seriously think it's a genetic trait) but he so depends on mom. He's not independent in an indefinite sense. My parents are both in reasonable health (dad has depression issues but nothing life-threatening) so I don't have any concrete worries but I think of "things" from time to time, you know? He'd have to live with me and I sometimes joke with him that if he ever had to live with me I'd feed him only hot dogs and hamburgers on alternating days. He hates mangia-cake food.

kristin said...

Hey ladies - i have to work tomorrow and i will have to probably have to get LM up a bit earlier and see if we have to do a breathing treatment. Not looking forward to that :(

Goodnight!

PJ said...

FT - Laughing about the hot dogs and hamburgers. But what is mangia-cake food?

PJ said...

Night Kristin.

Nilia said...

Sorry guys, I'm acting all "long-weekend" here. Tomorrow is a stat holiday, "Family Day". We actually have been using this newish holiday to do family stuff, so we're looking forward to that.

PJ said...

FT - we have President's Day. I have things to do and places to go, plus work my office job in the afternoon, but no school. So I can sleep in a little more than 5:30.
