A Valentine's Day gift suggestion...

...for the young girlie heathens in your life.

There's a pretty interesting story about the pink ouija boards and the threat they pose here, too. *evil giggle*

Helloooooooohhhh???? (done in her best Jerry Lewis impersonation)

PJ said...

They did, Tee! How exciting for New Or Lions (bad joke, sorry).

It was all the bacon I think.

Tee said...

You guys should be down here!

PJ said...

Sandy - I just visited your blog. I have a Miss C too? Mine is spelled "lin" at the end.

Anonymous said...

Tee, I was think about you. It's got to be insane!

PJ said...

She was a toe-head as a young girl too.

Tee said...

Sandy- It is! Fireworks are going off 15 minutes outside of the city! The boats on the river are laying on their horns and have not let up yet! People are literally outside screaming. Holy shit, they did it!

Anonymous said...

CK, my Miss C is a handful. She's on the Autism spectrum. She also just received her monthly visitor at age 9 1/2. I swear it's the hormones in all the milk and meat we eat.

Tee, I am so glad the Saints won. It will be such a boost for New Orleans.

Anonymous said...

And I suspect Mardi Gras will start a little early this year!

PJ said...

Wow, Sandy - that's so young.

I understood that she's on the spectrum from reading a few of your blog posts. A few of my students are too. I bet you have sweet, funny and frustrating stories about her growing up?

Anonymous said...

Oh the stories I could tell. She is so funny and so very innocent. She worships the ground that Miley Cyrus walks on.

Anonymous said...

Thank goodness that Miley Cyrus songs are half bad because I think I would lose my mind otherwise.

PJ said...

Sandy,
That's something to be very grateful for.

Anonymous said...

are=aren't

Tee said...

I can honestly say that I've never given any thought about ways to be grateful for Miley Cyrus. Live and learn.

Tee, it occupies what could be really rough times with my daughter. It has a calming effort for her. It helps with alot of her sensory issues too. We used to have a mini trampoline in our family room to help get her centered, but now we only need a few Miley Cyrus songs and we're good to go.

Tee said...

Sandy- I'll admit I didn't take the time to catch up before posting so I was lost as to what was said. Now I follow. I understand the calming effect that music could have. Do you mind me asking how it could help with sensory issues?

Tee said...

I just spoke with my sister. My seven year old niece, A, burst into tears with 44 seconds left on the clock. "Mom, they did it! They won!"

I'm thinking they need to spend less time watching football.

Anonymous said...

She cannot stand anything loud. But when she's listening to music it doesn't seem to bother her as much anymore. After about a year of listening to music first very softly, we can now have the radio on at a normal level. We just over time kept raising the volume up and because it was something she enjoyed, it worked for her.

We have never been to a 4th of July fireworks display. On the 4th of July we are usually locked in the house in our lower level watching movies because she cannot tolerate the sounds.

Shannon said...

LOL I didnt plan to watch the game in the first place but ended up seeing the first half while waiting with my son in urgent care. He got a nice temp cast/splint that in 10 days will become a new cast...all from rolling u pa window.

Tee said...

Shannon- That's what I call talent! How'd he manage that?

Sandy- Thank you for explaining that to me. It makes a lot of sense but I would not have thought about it like that. So you've found that with the increased tolerance to louder music, she is also more tolerant to other loud noises?

Anonymous said...

That's exactly it, Tee.

Shannon said...

I put the truck in reverse and apparently when I put her into drive his hand slipped off the thingy to roll the window down and the momentum took over the rest of the work.

Tee said...

Shannon- Ouch! Nothing like a freak injury, is there? That has to hurt! Is he at least resting comfortably now?

Tee said...

Sandy- I always feel like an idiot asking questions like that so I really do appreciate you answering me! Who else does she like besides Miley Cyrus?

Shannon said...

He is hurting and it is still pretty swollen....you can see his gigantic middle finger knuckle even with the ace bandaging on it. He has to wait for the swelling to go down before he can get a real cast on it. Hopefully between the other kids and the dogs it doesnt get hit and hurt too much.

Anonymous said...

Nobody else...so thank goodness I like the music too. My four year old son can sing all the songs.

PJ said...

Shannon - so he pretty much punched the dashboard?

Anonymous said...

Shannon, ouch. The poor guy.

Tee said...

Shannon- Oh, poor guy! I was hoping they had at least gotten him pretty comfortable. I've broken my arm and it was a miserable experience.

Sandy- Well, if Miley is what it takes to help her, than I'd listen to Miley around the clock. Kind of a shame it isn't Sugarland or Little Big Town.

Did I just say that?

PJ said...

Yup Tee, you do what works.

Shannon said...

CK that was pretty much what happened. He nearly cried and was almost the tough guy who didnt want to ruin moms day going ot the Urgent Care but I am glad we went

Tee said...

Absolutely! I have one song that brings me great comfort when I'm having a panic attack. I put it on repeat and leave it there all night if I have to.

It's not on the same level but it is the same concept. Ya go with what brung ya.

PJ said...

You're a good mom, Shannon. Ouch.

Tee said...

Good grief, I'm still floating on air. Sad!

Shannon said...

Thanks CK. I am glad I didnt make the choice to wait till tomorrow to take him to his primary. The swelling just wasnt going down at all and I was a bit worried. Once again mom's intuition paid off.

Tee said...

Shannon- There's something to said for listening to your gut. I'm glad you took care of this tonight.

I really hope he gets some rest tonight and isn't kept awake from pain. I know I'm being redundant. I just know all to well what it's like to not sleep because you're in pain. I would hate to see that for him.

Shannon said...

Oh yes I am waiting for him to finish eating then I am going to get some tylenol up in him.

Tee said...

I'm headed for bed. Tomorrow Mom and I are going to MS. I'm looking forward to seeing my precious girls!

Lisa said...

Tee said holy shit. *nods*

MLWB, I chose the font and lettering in the customizing area of the blog. You know, where you can pick your layouts and all. There's a secton for fonts and colors, I believe it's called. This one is either Verdana or Trebuchet (sp?) made a tad larger than the default setting.

Karen, loved seeing the tattoos...the one for your granddaughter is so precious with her little feet.

Shannon, your son needs to make up a better story for that injury to tell his friends. ;-)

Karen said...

The font is so easy to read for these OLD tired eyes! Love it!

The background on this reminds me of "Please don't eat the daisy's" anyone else remember that?

I have been looking on jobs.com and monster.com and craigslist and its not going so well, am not finding anything i'm qualified or interested in! I have been seriously thinking of being a waitress... in an upscale type of restaurant that I would make good tips. I see Ang bringing home $75 cash for 3 or 4 hours of work and think I could do that... I don't know... I know I need to find something SOON cause my unemployment runs out in like 5 weeks....

Karen said...

Shannon OW for your son! The worst one of my kids was hurt when they were little was my son, he was probably 15 and was in the garage with his friends, playing around on one of his dad's saws, and yep - cut his hand between his palm and thumb, it was bleeding BAD and he came running in the kitchen, said mom, - I think I need stitches, then he turned pure white and threw up in my kitchen sink!! in front of his friends!! He still remembers that clear as if it happened yesterday - he said all that blood he thought he was gonna bleed to death before I got him to the ER! Did your son bleed, or just swell up and look broken?

Lisa said...

Karen, the simple black print on white is easy on my old eyes, too. And yep, I remember the "Please Don't Eat The Daisies" thing.

The job market is truly awful now but waitresses can make darn good money. It might be worth looking into. Good luck, you must be getting very nervous. :-(

Karen said...

I'm getting alot nervous - I already know that I'll probably make less working 40 hours than getting unemployment... but when it ends, it ends! So I know I need to work, I'm about ready to go back to work anyway - its been nice being home, and I feel bad for Ang cause I have been babysitting alot... but she knows too that I need to work. I've never worked as a waitress before, but having 3 kids and all their friends and cooking every night has to cook for something... I have eaten out alot and have had alot of good and bad waitresses - does that qualify me? My last job was in an office and I loved it and they loved me - they have been through 3 people since I left, they can't find anyone that can do the work like me :) LOL but I'm not seeing many office jobs advertised!

Lisa said...

I know, Karen, it's just awful. I periodically look...I get bored and really, having some money coming in again instead of just going out would be a very good thing but I can't even find anything in this area at minimum wage. I'm not sure how easy it is to get a job waitressing but give it a shot! It's good, honest work and I think most places supply uniforms, don't they?

Karen said...

Most places around here you wear black pants and their shirt - at least thats the way it seems... I had a really high stress job in NY and I think I'm over that - I want to go to work, do my job, and come home and forget about it! I think if I got minimum wage, or the waitress wage which is 3.34 an hour i think.. and then tips, I could make it no problem, the cost of living here in OH is SOO much less than it was on Long Island! Our rent is less than half what we were paying in Long Island, but I was making $17 an hour there, and had at least 10-15 hours of overtime a week there...
