amy - not sure how I would make it into a game. I already use marbles for potty and discipline, in which he had about 25 taken away from him!

Angie said...

Two loads of dishes in a day, Amy? Yikes.

My next supper club is the first weekend in March, not at my house. We didn't find a weekend in February that worked for everyone. That will end the current "rotation" through the four members' houses. The next month after that we'll do a progressive supper, where each of four courses will be at one of our houses. We did that last year and it was a lot of fun. I had the soup/salad course, and did a roasted garlic soup and roasted beet salad.

Amy said...

Kristin the marbles are a good idea, but wait till he gets into LEGOS. Paul lost a couple thousand after the incident Thursday. Gah. Does LM have a mask with a fish face? I don't know if you could tie Nemo and Dorie into it or anything like that?

Amy said...

SW, yes 2 loads in one day. Rob emptied the dishwasher on Wednesday, and I put the dirty dishes in there that night, but it wasn't enough for a full load. If I had put the dirties in on Thursday I could have run it, but I was tired and my feet hurt from my evil shoes, so I didn't, and I didn't last night either. I started the dishwasher this morning as I was making breakfast, then Rob emptied it and I refilled and restarted it. It is a vicious cycle...cook, eat, load, wash. Damn.

What course will you have in the progressive dinner? I saw a roasted garlic soup on one of the many food blogs I read, and it looked delicious and was guaranteed to ward off vampires, lol...what recipe did you use?

Amy said...

And at the risk of being reprimanded...CK, you've got mail! ;)

kristin said...

Amy - I am thinking of doing that with his toys. I told him that today, that if he didn't behave I was going to take a toy away.

He has been pretty good today and was AWESOME at the grocery store.

Angie said...

We haven't chosen courses yet, Amy. I might pick appetizer, so I can go first and then relax. Here's the soup recipe. It's delicious and you can make it a day ahead:

Roasted Garlic Soup with Parmesan Cheese Bon Appétit | February 1999

Charleston Grill, Charleston, SC

Yield: Serves 4

26 garlic cloves (unpeeled)
2 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons (1/4 stick) butter
2 1/4 cups sliced onions
1 1/2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme
18 garlic cloves, peeled
3 1/2 cups chicken stock or canned low-salt chicken broth
1/2 cup whipping cream

1/2 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese (about 2 ounces)
4 lemon wedges

Preheat oven to 350°F. Place 26 garlic cloves in small glass baking dish. Add 2 tablespoons olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper; toss to coat. Cover baking dish tightly with foil and bake until garlic is golden brown and tender, about 45 minutes. Cool. Squeeze garlic between fingertips to release cloves. Transfer cloves to small bowl.

Melt butter in heavy large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onions and thyme and cook until onions are translucent, about 6 minutes. Add roasted garlic and 18 raw garlic cloves and cook 3 minutes. Add chicken stock; cover and simmer until garlic is very tender, about 20 minutes. Working in batches, purée soup in blender until smooth. Return soup to saucepan; add cream and bring to simmer. Season with salt and pepper. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate. Rewarm over medium heat, stirring occasionally.)

Divide grated cheese among 4 bowls and ladle soup over. Squeeze juice of 1 lemon wedge into each bowl and serve.

and no, no fish mask. Someone mentioned a dinosaur mask. I meant to ask at the pharmacy yesterday but I was so pissed that i forgot.

Angie said...

I've probably said this before, but I love getting recipes from epicurious.com. Anybody who likes to try new recipes and hasn't heard of it needs to check it out.

hendricks is racing right now!

kristin said...

or hedrick...lol

His daughter is 11 mos and her name is Hadley!

PJ said...

Holy flatulence, Batman! 44 cloves of garlic in 4 servings of soup?

kristin said...

Now Davis is up. Hedrick didn't do well :(

kristin said...

ummm...what happened to AP, did she get kidnapped by Sue or the monkey?

******OLYMPIC SPOILER**********

Davis got the silver

Angie said...

Ha, CK! It's totally worth it. Soooo good. And the four servings aren't big servings either, by the way. Definitely not four main course soup servings.

Corinne (or anyone), re: the sitemeter, where is it? Do you only see yourself? Or can you see origins (or close to origins) of whoever's on?

kristin said...

FT - scroll down to the very bottom and click on sitemeter, then you click on see who's on or something.

Speaking of...who is in Little Elm, TX?

Also FT, LM saw your profile pic and really liked it, said look mommy, turtles! Yup that's my boy!

PJ said...

SW,
It sounds delicious. After that much garlic, I would no longer be snexy, I'd be sninky.

Nilia said...

LM=cute!

I liked the serenity of that picture.

And I see about Sitemeter

Angie said...

Pissed off at your man?
Turn snexy into sninky.
Eleven clove bowl.

Nilia said...

SW: LOL!!!

Dang, I had been missing the haikus.

Angie said...

Me too, FT. Bella and BD brought the haikus back with them. Makes me happy.

PJ said...

Ha! SW!

PJ said...

Sixth Sense update - the ring just dropped on the floor. Hubby said "he died". Bingo.

PJ said...

Watch Bruce Willis' character freak out.

Erin said...

Kristin- My oldest had asthma. We used to let him have a lolipop during the nebs. Or if LM is good once they start, maybe he could have something after as a reward.

Nilia said...

CK: I just LOVED The Sixth Sense. I never saw that ending coming. Having said that, I was never able to watch it again.

Corine, are you here? I'm watching Miss Marple. Sure, she's no Poirot but she's awesome for a doddering old lady.

Nilia said...

Kristin: What EL said. I'm thinking bribery.

PJ said...

FT - it's fun in a different way watching it the second time. You see all the clues.

I didn't catch on until the end either.

Nilia said...

CK: it was hard to watch again so even though I had opportunity I didn't. Knowing about that little boy's gift from the beginning made it hard to watch again. But I do know what you mean, I do like to watch movies for the second (or more) time once I know the ending, when you're not so clueless you notice a lot of other stuff!

Nilia said...

Question: do all blogs have sitemeters? Can they be hidden i.e. only visible by moderator or whoever else has password-access or whatever it's called?

What's hide my ass exactly (I have a vague idea) and does anyone have any good feedback on this?

PJ said...

FT - I only know about it from seeing it on blogs. For example, on MWoP, there is a box at the bottom that says sitemeter, but when you click on it, you just get the website for Sitemeter company. Not the detail you see here.

Anonymous said...

Hello...how is everyone?

FT, Sitemeter can be hidden either completely, or it can show a Sitemeter that acts as a public counter but does not allow for public viewing of the details. If you have it set up that way, it takes you to the Sitemeter main page.

Not sure on hidemyass...

PJ said...

I think the blog owner can hide the button too, so people don't know it's being used.

Erin said...

CK- I never saw the ending either. Or with Fight Club. Then I had to go watch thewm again from the other perspective.

Erin said...

CK- sitemeter is free to add on but you have to pay for the hidden one. And that <--- is my total knowledge of how it works!

PJ said...

AP probably knows stuff about it.

PJ said...

Hi Christy!

Anonymous said...

Hi CK.

kristin said...

Hey Christy! Where've you been?

PJ said...

You win the prize for knowing the most about sitemeter.

My dog is snuggled next to me doing the body twitching and little sleeping puppy barks.

Nilia said...

The doggy in the picture? My kids love your doggy. I have not been permitted to put said picture away.

Anonymous said...

Hi Kristin...maybe you can fill us in on hidemyass? :)

Been out and about today. I'm about to have to give up the computer to my game playing husband. I'll probably check back in when he's done.

Angie said...

Awww, CK, sweet. (Hi from me too Christy!) I was just petting my huge black cat thinking that having cats is like have sweet fuzzy throw pillows.

PJ said...

FT - yup - Rusty (aka Russ-Russ, Rusty Bucket of Oats, Peanut, Drug Sniffing Dog, Garbage Hound)

PJ said...

SW - just don't throw them.

Angie said...

Har har, CK.

kristin said...

I really don't know how hidemyass works but I guess it is supposed to hide your identity or something.

I do know of one individual that uses it and likes to lurk.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Howdy.

Hey, how long does cooked shrimp keep? Does anyone know? I boiled it on Thursday, and it seems fine tonight, but we might not get to it until tomorrow, and I'm not sure that would be all right.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Dude, I don't care if people know that my Oceanside-living ass is on their site. They should be grateful. Bitches.

Angie said...

Hi BD! I'd eat it.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

::putting away Tough Cookie voice for the night::

Angie said...

LOL re grateful bitches, BD.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

SW:

It really seems fine. I'm just edgy about fish. But I cooked it right away so it didn't even sit around raw (in my house anyway). I think it will be fine.

Oh, and hi. :)

Angie said...

I'm nervous about Apollo's race. I can't watch it live. His skating style is nerve-wracking, how he likes to stay at the back and then look for an opening to move up.

kristin said...

I know SW! It's insane!

aaggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh!

I'm here. Dozed off and woke up with a migraine coming on. If I can't get it stopped, I'll be feeling like shit for a day or two. FT, I think everyone has pretty well filled you in on sitemeter. I made this one totally public in the interest of keeping as much sneakiness as possible at bay. Be here? Be upfront. Not everyone does that obviously, and I don't do it on my blog. Only I can see the stats there those whopping 3 or 4 times I've ever looked. Here, I figured if it's really ours, we should all be able to look. As for proxy servers, they work pretty darn well at hiding your IP address but are not 100% foolproof. Be careful with that - think of them as birth control. Ain't nothing foolproof but not going in. Personally, I just barge right on in anywhere.

I'm off to do a little mail and farm. Or not. I don't know. I feel awful.

Angie said...

Kristin, please post the winner for me, K? :-)

Erin said...

AP- hope you feel better. I had a migraine earlier. The meds are keeping it at bay, but not by much.

Angie said...

Oh, AP, sorry you feel bad. Hope it's better soon.

Angie said...

Nevermind, Kristin. Just saw it on Twitter.

kristin said...

lol SW!

AP - sorry you aren't feeling well :(

Angie said...

I'm off to bed. Night all!

Erin said...

Night SW.

kristin said...

night SW!

PJ said...

Night SW.

Curses on the migraine, AP.

kristin said...

alright ladies - see ya tomorrow.

I'm going to bed!

Goodnight!

Erin said...

night kristin!

Karen said...

Hi and goodnight everyone - didn't get online til late, had to catch up on everything, now its bedtime and it seems like everyone is in bed or otherwise occupied tonight!!

Have a good Sunday I'll be on later!!!

kristin said...

Morning ladies!

PJ said...

Morning Kristin!

I'm watching Today Show and catching up on the Olympic news from yesterday.

How are you? What's up for you and LM today?

Anonymous said...

Hi ladies!

kristin said...

I am watching the Today show also.

LM woke up at 3:00 again. :(

We are going to my sisters house to celebrate my mom and BIL's b-day.

and you? How are you and what is on your plate today?

kristin said...

Hey Corinne! How are you today?

PJ said...

Morning Corinne!

Kristin - birthdays are good.

Church this morning, grocery shopping, getting some things done for school, writing a skit for church, ironing, laundry.

kristin said...

Gotcha - sounds like a busy day!

LM is in a good mood! Right now he is showing me what a jellyfish does, it looks like a ballet move.

He is doing dance moves. Crazy kid!

PJ said...

Silly boy!

PJ said...

Corinne - I heard a quote on NPR (National Public Radio) that reminded me of our e-mails about Haiti/education/reproductive choice.

It's Danish - "Children are a poor man's wealth"

Anonymous said...

CK- I like that quote.
Except that it applies too literally for third world countries and I can't help but find it very sad.
It's heartbreaking to think that in many countries children are valued for the added source of revenue they are for the family rather than for who they are as people.

PJ said...

I know - it makes me sad too, but seems to perfectly capture one of the big challenges for change. In our country too, in some cases.

Anonymous said...

It's definitely one of the biggest challenge for change. Once we can guarantee those children an education and the hope for a real future, then things will be dramatically different.

I have so many things to say on the topic but I don't want to bore everyone so early on a Sunday morning ;)

PJ said...

SW - Brothers and Sisters is on tonight.

Anonymous said...

FT- Miss Marple is cool but Hercule Poirot is a hundred times better ;)

CK- Did your husband like "the Sixth sense"?

PJ said...

Yes he did - and I saw the lightbulb go on for him when the ring dropped on the floor.

Anonymous said...

That's nice. I really enjoyed that movie too. I think Haley Joel Osment was really good.

PJ said...

What a tough role for a little kid to play. I hope they had therapy for him on the set!

Anonymous said...

Definitely a tough role - must've been really hard emotionally.

PJ said...

Back later! Have a busy or restful day, whatever you need.

PJ said...

Oh, and Corinne - how about some voodoo to banish AP's migraine of last night.

Anonymous said...

Bye, CK! Have a good day!

I'll try my best re: voodoo to make AP's migraine go away ;)

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Morning all.

I finished working last night, until more assignments come in . I'm at a loss. I don't know what to do. ::sighs::

Why do I never know what to do with free time?

Angie said...

Morning all!

CK, I'm excited about B&S tonight!

BD, I'm always mystified by people who don't know what to do with free time. I never have that problem. You WASTE it! That's what you do with free time. And for me, that's what I do with productive time too. Lately anyway.

Today I've got to do some productive things though. I've almost got the house clean enough for my housekeeper to come tomorrow. Now am at work getting ready to get a few things done.

Hope everyone is having a great day. It's absolutely beautiful here!

Nilia said...

Good morning everyone!

Corinne: Nemesis was good, but Marple's no Poirot, agreed!

BD: you probably don't know what to do with your free time because it sounds like you don't get very much of it. I once read this somewhere, maybe a bumper sticker can't recall: Whenever I feel an overwhelming urge to work, I just lie down until the feeling goes away.

But seriously, I find that when I've been crazy busy for a spell marking papers or doing report cards or whatever, and then suddenly I'm done, that I have trouble even sitting down or watching television, and for sure trouble sleeping.

I still have a raging headache that started yesterday, my sympathies to those with migraines today. Corinne if you can spare some voodoo this way to banish my headache it would be much appreciated. My little grey cells hurt!

Sunny here today, and today will be mostly a "continue to put stuff away that's been in boxes since the renovation" day. I know you're all jealous. Later off to a bar but I guess all ages or something cuz we're all going, to see our guitar teacher's band and some other bands play, kids are excited. That's the perfect situation for my headache, I know....

Shannon said...

For everyone having headaches today and yesterday....I feel your pain. I made a couple posts on BF because I knew I could post, run, come back and post again if I wanted to....slower pace ya know :) I played catch up a lot here yesterday but just didnt feel well enough to try to jump in. I woke up with a migraine Friday and it finally went away last night...I freaking hate those things!!!

For everyone else I hope you are having a nice relaxing Sunday.

Anonymous said...

Hi Bd, FT & SW!

FT- I will definitely spare some voodoo to make this nasty headache of yours go away!

I've been busy typing my public and private law notes. The Belgian legislation makes my head spin.

Angie said...

Hi FT and Shannon!

You know, it's too early for me to get all excited, but I think I may have had a breakthrough on my Mck obsession. I haven't checked her site for the last couple of days and haven't thought of her at all! I just did check it, and other than REALLY liking that pizza pocket recipe, I don't have any thoughts about her. Hope I didn't just jinx myself, but maybe I'm letting her go! Cool!

Angie said...

Hi Corrine!

Shannon said...

Hey SW.......I think those things would be so much better with crescent rolls than the pie dough she used :) But then again my husband made some from scratch and they were sooooo good.

Nilia said...

Corinne: the thought of typic law notes of any type just made my headache worse.:0(

Waiting for that voodoo!

Angie said...

He made pie dough from scratch and made pizza pockets? I think the fresh mozzarella would make them sooo good.

Nilia said...

Hi SW!

You know, someone (i.e. more eloquent than me) should put together what a MckM 12-step looks like. Then we'd all know where we were on it, you know? I go entire days without thinking of her either!

Robin said...

Hello. :)

Shannon said...

Hello R2

Yep SW sometimes that man amazes me LOL

Erin said...

They also make the pizza douhg in the bisquit container-thingy. Just roll it out a little thinner for the pizza pockets.
Hi everyone!

Shannon said...

I will be back shortly gonna go get the dishes finished.

Angie said...

Wait? R2?? Holy crap! Hello!!!

Angie said...

How the heck are you, R2? I've missed you. And not just for your bus stories. But how's the bus? Is your son riding with you these days?

Robin said...

I've missed you too, SW.

Yes, Seth rides with me every day, at least to work. He rides an earlier bus home.

No exciting bus stories lately, though. I've taken often to napping on both trips--that extra hour of sleep each way is always welcome. :)

Angie said...

Oh, and how are your fish, and did you get a rope fish yet?

Robin said...

The fish are great, but still no rope fish. I found a local guy that says he will get one for me. He went last week to pick up fish and I'd hoped to get one then, but his suppliers were out of them. But hopefully soon, he will get me one and make me very happy. :)
