Vehicular white trash situation.

So,  whose car is this?  I see jumper cables, a pack of assorted USB adapters,  an OJ container, what looks like loose potting soil and one more clue that will tip you off to her general geographic location but I'm not telling that.  There's also another clue in this trash in what the trash *doesn't contain.  Any guesses?

Also, please, help Chris.  *Please.  I know I sound like a broken record but it's just for another month, like I said, and he needs the help so damn badly.  There but for the grace of God go any of us and  it never hurts to have a few good marks on the Karmic account, you know?  If nothing else, since I know money is tight, can we all promise to send anything we come into from our full moon wallet shaking to him this time?

I don't have a clue whose car that is, but mine is much, much trashier!

AP, you said Robin's mom had RSD? Are you talking about RiM, or R2? I know that someone from OHIH has it, and I thought it was Robin2 but now I'm thinking it was someone else... If you are talking about RiM, I didn't know that. Do you know how she got it? It's such a rare condition.

:( Chris's story just, breaks my heart. I never seem to understand why things like what happened to him happen. I guess I'm not meant to understand why.

Jeanette, I've never tried it but I will check it out. I do need to know if it's even safe, interaction wise. But thanks for thinking about me, suggestions help so much because it gives me something to do. Even just time waster activities are very helpful, projects etc.

Jeanette said...

After thinking about it, I think it was Tina who had RSD. Didn't she injure her hand at one time while OHIH was still alive? I remember asking if the RSD was giving her trouble in the hurt hand... I'm pretty sure it was her.

Kay, since it's an OTC med, it should be safe, interaction wise. You should be able to get it at your pharmacy and then they could tell you if it's safe. It's a liquid, but it tastes wonderful. Mom would keep a bottle in her purse and just take her a sip whenever she felt nauseous. She swore by it. At any rate, I hope you find something that works for you.

Jeanette said...

Okay, the geographic clue is the Publix bag, right? That might help someone else, I have no clue where Publix is, I just know it's nowhere near me;)

Lisa said...

Lord. As if I don't have my hands full asking for financial donations, now I'm going to be asking for kidneys? Well, okay. It still beats selling life insurance. :-D

You know, I might be wrong about what Robin's (in Montana) had. I thought this sounded right but maybe not, now that you've said this, Jeanette. Bonus points on the Publix bag spotting, by the way. ;-)

Heather said...

Publix is in the south. I think it's main offices are here in Florida. Does that help?

KaytieJ said...

I am guessing it is our Daisy with the new front yard landscaping :-D

Good morning, daisies!

I'm so happy to see the white trash trend continuing. If I had a camera, I could send you some great photos, AP.

Things have been busy in my corner of the world but I have a couple of days off work and so I hope be here a bit. In the meantime, I guess everyone is sleeping in this morning so I'm off to catch up a bit more.

Anonymous said...

KaytieJ, are you still here? I have a question for you!

Anonymous said...

okay, don't know if you're still here but if you check back, maybe you'll see this.

My son's fiance was just accepted into nursing school. She (and we) are so darn happy for her. She's worked her butt off to get to this place, with no help from her so-called sorry family. I want to do something special for her. I was thinking a nice gift that she will need and find helpful for nursing school. Any ideas? Thank you!

Morning.

That is, without a doubt, SW's car. No car seat or evidence of children.

And like Jeanette, mine could put that to shame.

twirldawg said...

Jae, morning. How about scrubs? I know she is just in school, but I think the wear them to some classes.

kristin said...

Morning all, just wanted to say hello! Hi Jae! Hope you are doing well. That is awesome about your son's fiance!

Okay, going for one more cup of coffee, some snuggling, and cleaning.

Lisa said...

Hi, Jae and Heather! It's so good to see you both - stop being such strangers! You, too, Kristin...I wish you were around more. :-)

Lol, "This is the back of whose car" could be an interesting photo game to play, I suspect.

Good mornin', Daisies.

Erin said...

Good morning. Jae! Good to see you. How are you feeling?

I think it is SW's car too. Cuz there is an umbrella in it, all the better to keep seersucker nice and neat.

My car is as clean as the day I got it. LOLOLOL

Lisa said...

Who knew Erin was such a liar?

Margo said...

I think it's SW's car too.

Sleep Study Drama - the other patient was a freak show! He wanted to chat a lot, needed to be catered to by the staff and then in the middle of the night started screaming and banging on the wall. In the morning he complained that they hadn't gotten all the glue out of his hair and he wanted them to wash his hair FOR HIM.

Anonymous said...

AP you little minx......could this be your very OWN car??

As always, your genuine and ever-faithful support of my obstinate but true blue hearted brother continues to humble and bless us. We love you, Daisy Queen. (Chris says he is going to knock off a dairy queen sign and use a sharpie to change dairy to daisy. He says then you will have a heartfelt gift AND a winner of the white trash pageant)

AP- Once while cleaning my car, (because it smelled *horrible) I found, under the back seat, a fish. In a bag full of water. That was over a week old. One of the boys friends won it at a fair we went to and forgot to take it out of the car!! It was over 100 degrees!

Jae........when my brother was in the ICU still in a coma, naturally we got pretty chatty with some of the nurses. We had a student nurse with one of the RN's one day and he was proudly showing off a stethoscope with his name engraved on the metal part. His parents had given it to him in anticipation of his upcoming graduation. I'm sure darling KayJ would know if this would be useful at the start of nursing school, too. Congrats to to-be-daughter and I am so glad she has you to support her goals and achievements.

Son and family got delayed by a mall emergency. They are in Grand Rapids where they used to live. They've since moved to a tiny town with less stores than our impossible place, so when DIL saw the mall the car veered into the lot.

That cannot be SW's car; she is a high class lawyer and they don't do that stuff.

No one would guess my backseat. 7 passenger car with booster seats and toys.

Kristin, sweetie, if you didn't clean so darn much you would have time to visit with us more.

Kay, if it would cure you I would give you a kidney in a minute. But I don't think it would do you much good. I hope there is some relief coming your way soon, and I'm glad you're here.

Jae, sounds like your son found someone you love. I too was thinking a stethoscope. I know you can order online through uniform/supply companies.

Off to change sheets and put out the fresh towels.

Erin said...

RF- Lol at mall emergency!

Lisa said...

Oh, Erin, that's just nasty. Nas-ty.

Elisabeth, nope, it's not my car. Not that I'm claiming mine to be much better, but I have a different assortment of trash. Also, words cannot express how much I want that sign from Chris! How cool would that be?

Muliebrity said...

I think we are going to attempt to take some family pictures and have a picnic at the state park today.

Hey all! Thanks for the gift suggestions. I thought about both scrubs or a stethoscope but am unsure if her school has particular requirements for scrubs (she probably doesn't know yet either) and a stethoscope seemed...I don't know...maybe premature? I just don't know but will keep both in mind. Thank you! And if anyone else has any ideas, please let me know.

This kid has raised herself since she was 16 years old, going to school and working part-time to support herself - by herself. She was 16 when her mother and step-father moved to Georgia and left her to fend for herself. She has never asked anything from anybody. She's 23 now and has 2 Associates Degrees and now she's on her way to being an RN, if not (someday) a PA. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up an MD.

But to give you an example of her *real family - her mother and she have similar names. Her mother ran up a bunch of credit card debt, using her daughters name, date of birth and SS number. She ain't no mother, IMO.

But if I had a daughter, (and I already claim her as MINE) I'd want her to be exactly like this young lady. She is wonderful and deserves the best!

(Sorry for the *novel.)

Anonymous said...

I don't think that's SW's car. I'd bet SW's car is clean as a whistle. I don't know exactly why I think that but I do. Don't know who it might belong to though.

Anonymous said...

One more and then I have to go and unpack the groceries and brown a bunch of hamburger for soup and tacos.

HEY, to Kristin! I miss you, lady! Stop cleaning so much! Rest!

And Erin, I'm feeling good these days - thanks for asking! ;-)

Morning All you Vile and Marvelous Daisies!

Jae - Congratulations to your future DIL!!!
Find out what required materials she needs. One of the best gifts you can give is a stethescope and manual BP kit and hemostats. These were required for me and invaluable tools of the trade. They are also a bit spendy, so even more appreciated by broke nursing students as gifts!

The school may have these for sale or they may have recommended brands. I will hunt around on the net for you to give a recommendation. There is a lot of cheap stuff that falls apart and you also don't want to get the specialized stuff like I have right off the bat, either. I'll get back to you. CONGRATS again!

KaytieJ said...

http://www.steeles.com/catalog/stethoscope_detail.php?input=2201

Jae - Here is a solid workhorse of a stethescope. It is double headed, which most students are recommended to have and it has one tube, rather than two, for better clarity of sounds. Littman is more expensive, but they will last.

On the Steele site, you can see some manual BP cuff kits. I think Target carries stuff, too.

Good luck!

The cables in the back gave it away. Remember the day of not finding which post was negative or positive on the battery? I am lovin' this!

Jae - Your son's fiance sounds like a wonderful girl! Congrats on her acceptance to nursing school! :)

Happy Saturday everybody! And congratulations to everybody but Jae and RF, who clearly don't know me at all :-), for guessing that's my white trash back seat! Nice try to anyone who thinks their car is worse -- did you see all the loose potting soil? You could grow a plant back there! And only the fact that an actual mushroom grew in Robin's shower is keeping me feeling superior to at least one daisy trashier than I. ;-)

I'm having a nice Saturday. Hairdresser and grocery store this morning. A little light housekeeping today. Speaking of which, I have a mini crisis on my hands. My housekeeper (who comes every 2 weeks to keep the health department from evicting me due to unsanitary conditions) is on vacation this week and I've got supper club Saturday night at my house. So I've either got to get off my lazy ass and clean the house before Saturday night, in addition to cooking a very time consuming meal, or call my back-up housekeeper. Yeah, as far as crises go, this one isn't so bad. Nevermind.

I took cookbooks to the hairdresser to read while my color set, and am thinking about making homemade potato chips and a caramelized onion dip as an appetizer for SC. Kind of a gourmet take on ruffles and Lipton soup onion dip. Has anyone ever made homemade potato chips? I could use tips.

I went to Arlington Cemetery today to put some flowers for my grandpa's grave. He's buried near Section 60 where all the Afghan/Iraq war graves are. Rows upon rows of new stones - a stark reminder of what we've lost. So many families up there this weekend - little kids running around. So sad...

Anonymous said...

Did you all see that Dennis Hopper passed away?

Margaret - That is *sad. No war is worth the pain it causes to the families who lose a loved one. :(

That's SW's car! I knew it! ;)

Erin said...

Margaret- Arlington is so inspiring and sobering at the same time. it is so beautiful there. I think it ought to be a required trip for every american.

SW- You would laugh, but I have that much dirt in my car too! Whenever I get plants from people I just plop them in! I still have sand from the beach as well!

Anonymous said...

Thank you, KaytieJ! I will be checking that site out and hopefully can find something I can both afford and that she will need!

And thank you too, Corinne! She's truly a wonderful young woman and I love her dearly.

I'm surprised that I was wrong about SW's car. Must revise image in head! :\

Anonymous said...

I love that stethoscope, KaytieJ. And if you say it's perfect, I know it is. I think that's what I'll get for her. Don't know if I'll get anything else but just in case, would you mind recommending a manual blood pressure kit? Even if I don't get it now, maybe for later.

Jeanette said...

Just popping to say that SW, you are wrong. My car is way worse. I'm pretty sure there is something growing back there.

When I was in high school, I spent a lot of time at my then boyfriends house. His mattress was on the floor up against the wall. He was lazy and a major pothead. He always stuck his empty soda cans in between the mattress and the wall. Also, when he would roll a joint, he would toss his seeds over there as well.

One day I had had enough and decided to clean his room. I pulled out the mattress and about died laughing. Where some of the soda cans had been knocked over and got the carpet wet, the seeds had actually started growing! There were like 12 pot plants growing out of the carpet!!

So that's my white trash contribution for the day. I'm off to visit the grandparents! Happy Holiday weekend everyone!

I had this old 1975 Dodge Aspen I bought from my roommate and I took it to the mechanic she bought it from to have some work done and he actually asked her if I was living out of the car and if there was something he could do to help me out. LOL! She said, "She's my roommate! She doesn't live in her car!"

jae, white trash gardening on a whole new level.

SW I make chips all the time; vegetable oil in a deep pot, scrubbed potatoes on a mandoline, some tasty seasoning right after draining. I put only afew at a time in the oil and they cook very quickly. Couldn't be any easier. And I still don't believe that car belongs to a lawyer with a supper club and a cleaning lady. Not buying it.

Back to the lake if silly grandpa has that 4 yo off the jetski - drives me bonkers.

Lisa said...

"Just letting you know I am alive because

LOL! Hey, Missie.

Jae, you're a good future MIL. :-)

Maybe SW's cleaning lady would clean her far for a few extra dollars?

KaytieJ said...

Jae - I would recommend a vinyl one that is latex free versus a cloth cuff. Not sure which brand is best anymore for the manual ones. The vinyl are easier to keep clean. I searched around for the one my mom gave me for nursing school, it still works, but darn if I can find it! Grrr! Anyway, saw one on the Target site that is vinyl and looks decent. Be sure to look at the school supply list. They may not require these anymore. We had to have them for our home and community visits.

Another less expensive, but tools of the trade are a set of hemostats and bandage scissors and pen light (for neuro checks). That would be a cool gift, too.

Margaret, what a starkly sad image.......little babies who should be running around and yelling daddy, chase me!! .....instead claiming one of an innumerable amount of white stones.

No matter your political leanings or opinion on the war.......you can't NOT be horribly saddened by this image.

KaytieJ said...

Margaret - I understand what you are saying. Everytime I go to Arlington, it is a humbling and solemn event. I still cry at the Tomb of Unknown Soldier Changing of the Guard.

My hubby, son and MIL are over at our local National Cemetery to honor his father. (WWII Vet).

I am doing my tiny part to honor our current National Guard vets by working on this program. In working with the pictures of the Home Coming section, I just keep crying. Not saying that to be a downer, but it is such a joy they were the ones able to come home, and some to see their babies for the first time. And it breaks my heart knowing that 50% of them do not have jobs to come back to.

It is fitting that we all remember, especially this weekend, our soldiers, citizen soldiers, vets and those that gave the ultimate price.

Thank you Margaret for reminding us of that.

T@iy@ said...

Hey Daisies! I am not caught up. Just wanted to say hi, though! :) Hope everyone is doing well. No baby yet. I'll make sure my hubs makes the announcement and sends AP a photo when Eeq gets here.

We had a yard sale this weekend (my SIL and her husband came and did most of the work!) and I have been walking, working in the garden and doing what I can to get this baby interested in coming out!

I'm having a delightful day! Just woke up from a three hour nap. It's going to mess the hell out of my bedtime, but it was so awesome! Now drinking pinot grigio and stringing sugar snap peas for a steak stirfry for dinner. Life is good! (Seriously, I hate when people post chipper messages like that on Facebook, so apologies in advance.)

Margo said...

KayJ........I am not the least bit surprised to know that a person as selfless and giving as you is involved in such a pursuit. My heart also breaks for the heroes who left as boys whose heads were filled with false promises but will return as scarred men, jaded by the now-realized emptiness of those promises. And what's truly stomach churning is that these are the *lucky ones, the ones who come home at all. When I hear about food drives in ft hood because the families of deployed soldiers can't afford food.......I literally feel like vomiting.

SW, I am thrilled to hear about your relaxing day. I realized between the hospital, rehab, and then staying with him......this is my FIRST whole weekend at home!! In over 5 months! I am curled up with my dogs, dozing. It's bliss.

Taiya......looks like your baby and Mulie's baby are competing to see who can stay stubbornly put the longest. Come on, Daisy Babies!! We don't bite! Well, *some of us get a little hands-y when the schlitz is flowing.

KaytieJ said...

SW - Naps when you can get them are awesome! Glad you got one in and enjoy your snap peas and steak dinner!

Margaret - I am not exactly sure what the root cause is for over 50% of the National Guards people to not have jobs on their return home. I am scrambling to learn about the laws in place for employers to hold their jobs, etc. Definitely a learning curve for me.

Robin - I took a break and rode my Black & White (and not to Texas either). She was a squirrel but such a gentle goofball. Hope you are getting some good riding time in with Blue!

Okay, big news!! I just finished my preliminary supper club menu for next Saturday night. Here it is!

Cocktail:
Blackberry Margaritas

Appetizer:
Homemade Potato Chips with Caramelized Onion Dip

Soup Course:
Curried Rhubarb Chicken Soup

Salad Course:
Watermelon salad with mint leaves

Main Course:
Chicken breasts stuffed with goat cheese and basil
Herbed summer squash and potato torte with Parmesan
Spinach gratin

Dessert:
Lemon mousse with strawberries

To those of you (probably all!) who think this is an obscene amount of food for a dinner party for four people, you are surely right! But the point of supper club is to stretch your cooking boundaries and try and impress the heck out of your fellow SC members. My last supper club meal set a personal best for me, and I've got to try and top it.

The only things in this menu that I've made before are the cocktail and the soup, only I didn't make it as soup, just soupy chicken thighs. It has an excellent flavor, and I think it will be delicious as a soup.

What I like about the menu is that a lot can be done ahead, and there's very little last minute prep. The cocktail is made ahead and frozen, then squished up at the last minute and served. I can make the spinach gratin two days ahead. The soup one day ahead. Prepare and roll the chicken breasts hours ahead. The only super last minute prep will be the potato chips, and I can handle one last minute thing.

If any of the recipes turn out great, I'll post them here. Don't want to post any recipes that aren't tried and true. The blackberry margarita recipe is already here. Absolutely delicious!

The chicken breast recipe is from epicurious.com and there are 600 reviews of it, resulting in a 3.5 fork review. Out of four, so that's really good. The spinach gratin is a Barefoot Contessa recipe. The squash torte and lemon mousse also are epicurious.com recipes. I love that website.

KaytieJ said...

SW - At first I was very sceptical about the curried rhubarb chicken soup, but the more I think on it and you talked of it, it sounds good. I really like Barefoot Contessa recipes. Haven't tried epicurious ones. I will now though. Looks like a great menu! Your guests are going to be impressed!

We are going to have leftover chinese food tonight...which I love :-D

Angie said...

Leftover Chinese is the best, Kaytie!

SW - That it is! We're eating late - it's still light out and hubby out on the riding lawn mower :-D

Speaking of riding...I only rode for 30 minutes today, but my thighs feel like I rode to Texas and back! UGH!

Lisa said...

Hi! SW, Your menu is killing me, it all sounds so good!

Lazy day here, just planting some seeds in starter cups and napping around, mostly. I wish I had something big and exciting to contribute but I'm boring as hell.

I liked the photos, especially the old ones, on PW's site but I'm just not a crier over stuff like this. I feel like such a failure. :-P

Angie said...

Hey AP! What kind of seeds are you germinating?

I'm definitely a crier, so am going to stay away from the PW pics!

Lisa said...

Oh, yeah, SW, they'd do you in!

I have three kinds of tomatoes, cayenne and jalapeno peppers, petunias, inpatiens, dill, basil, chives and Italian parsley going so far. Just some staples to get started while I plan the rest. Nothing too exciting.

Angie said...

Well, that is exciting, AP. Those are a lot of different plants! I've been meaning to get some herbs going, but so far only have mint and some catnip.

Is Jake good help when you need stuff toted like big bags of dirt? I need to find a kid I can pay to tote heavy stuff for me. I have about 20 boxes of crap that need to go to the basement and I don't want to take them myself. Cause I'm lazy that way.

I'm watching Vicky Christina Barcelona. Xavier Bardem is white hot.

Lisa said...

I want some mint but so far can't find the seeds or the plants. I may have to order them. I can't grow catnip outside or all the local strays some in and then they wind up shitting in my garden. :-/ Fresh herbs are so worth it, though...you definitely should grow some different ones.

Yeah, he's great about it but I have to ask every single time. He would crawl right over the stuff and never say a word but the minute I ask, he's doing it so I guess I can't bitch too much. Do any of your neighbors have teenage boys?

Lisa said...

Mulie, is it good? I read the book and don't remember much except that I liked it.

Muliebrity said...

I guess it's ok.

There are very few families in this neighborhood. Mostly single people and couples. It's an odd neighborhood, we call it "eclectic." Lots of 1920's bungalows like mine, so small, yards are small, so not great for families. Also, I make it a rule not to talk to or befriend my neighbors. :-) I find you risk drop-ins if you're too friendly with the neighbors.

I have friends with kids I could hire, just need to stop being lazy about that too and do it.

Lisa said...

"Also, I make it a rule not to talk to or befriend my neighbors. :-) I find you risk drop-ins if you're too friendly with the neighbors."

Or you could do what I do...I'm friendly with most but I just tell them all that I run around half naked and typically won't answer the door if I'm not expecting anyone. If it's important, call me first. A few tried dropping in anyway early on, I didn't answer the door and that was that. If someone says "I dropped by and I know you were home..." I just tell them I was asleep. :-D

Muliebrity said...

My house is always too trashed for drop ins! They are all old and have spotless houses. I have dished in the sink that are 3 weeks old.

Muliebrity said...

So Time Traveler's Wife. Kind of dark and not the way I would choose to time travel. Henry didn't see too creative.

Mulie, I know you're lying about the 3 week old thing. I just know it. One trick is to always leave your vacuum cleaner out in the middle of your living room floor. Then it looks like they interrupted you trying to clean.

When we first moved here I had strangers and neighbors showing up all the time like it was a freaking petting zoo.
We put a gate up at the end of the drive and it cured most of the drop ins.
Except for the time when I had an ailment and could not wear a bra...I was out watering the backyard, got sprayed all over with the sprinkler head trying to adjust the aim.
Pretty soon I heard, "Hello!" I whipped around and there were two JW men standing there.
There I was in a soaked white t-shirt sans bra. They just stood there mouths agape. I stood there in all my glory, hands on hips and told them I was sick, they were trespassing uninvited past a closed gate on a private road and if they did not turn around this.moment. I was going for my double barrel.

I think I am deemed hopelessly damned to hell, because I have not been pestered since :-D
