It's Sunday morning!

Let's skip church and go play with the kitties!

Don't forget Crafts for Chris!

Am going to try posts at noon and 6pm today to see how that works.  We're so damn erratic with posting traffic!

Oh my gosh! Those kittens are *so cute!!!!

And a repost:

LOL, Mulie's heading to bad! Sorry Mulie, you've already arrived. By association.

Good night (again).

Angie said...

OMG, they're so cute! I want them all! AP, see if Jake will swing by Karen's house on his road trip and drop them off in Alabama!

KaytieJ said...

Well the gun shots are on the river right below us. Probably nothing to worry about, but I have my double barrel shotgun ready just in case. and with that good nite and sweet dreams everyone.

KaytieJ said...

Ooop! Before I go to bed, those kitties are so cute! Thank you Karen and AP!

Lisa said...

I'll ask him, SW, but then I might have to shoot him. Wait, that's not how it works, is it? Speaking of shooting, are you okay, Kaytie?

And while those kittens are precious, Mama steals my heart. I've got a bit soft spot for calicos. :-)

Lisa said...

G'night, Kaytie. Be safe. I'd hate to lose you after investing this many years in you. :-/

Nilia said...

I want the white one with black spots, sigh!

And with that, I say goodnight, I'm off too.

Angie said...

Arrgh, I'm out too, after playing and losing about a million games of the game that shall not be named, unless it's after that bitch Sandy. ;-)

Lisa said...

I'm following them. 'Night!

Hi everyone! I had a teeeensy breakdown tonite, missing my hubby. We've only spent like 4 nights together since the end of march when Chris came home! Tonight I was like.......Chris, grabyour shoebox of meds and your toothbrush and suck it up because we are going to my house tonight. He is being a total sport about sleeping on the couch (we only have one BR) and now that he knows I feel guilty for taking him out of his home environment, he is totally extorting it. ("sis-eeeeeeee, can you bring me some ice cream? No........I wanted the *small spoon")

I just wanted to say THANK YOU thank you thank you for all of the people participating in Crafts For Chris!! He and I both continue to be absolutely floored by the "vile" generosity, compassion, and loving kindness shown to us by AP and the Daisies. It musta been VIIIIILE An-GELS.....watchin' over him and MEEEE.....=)

And just an irrelevant tidbit......OMG how jazzed am I that someone actually wants one of my bracelets!!

This community is just really amazing. Chris has mentioned many times how unlikely it is that a "queerple" such as himself found a home here. It has been brutal for him to see even lifelong friends drift back to their own lives and jobs and families. At first, so many people were at the hospital, there was literally fighting over time with Chris. But as time has gone by, even his best friends had to go back to Baytown and now just call every week or so. But EVERY DAY there is at least 4 or 5 emails from Daisies checking up on him and genuinely wanting to know he is ok.

We have gotten 2 donations now since the article ran.......both from daisies or daisy family members. And between those 2 donations, his rent is paid for May AND now therapy copays for ALL of May will be met as of tomorrow. I can't tell you how huge that is. Dr Raymond said he was on a tipping point in terms of progress right now......and if he didn't get enough therapy, he was going to "tip" the wrong way. Do y'all know what a huge deal this is for him?? And us? You hear the phrases "we can breathe easier" or "a weight has been lifted" all the time......but I do not feel I can convey strongly enough how true those words are to us.

On Friday our SW said that his SSDI claim was at the last hurde and that he should get his coverage and benefits in about 60 days. Between that news and the amazing generosity of you all, for the first time lately I have started to feel like......we are GOING to make it!! He is going to get what he needs, and we will not have to go to a loan shark and use our kneecaps as collateral! (it sounds funny but when therapy money ran out, we actually considered this, minus the kneecaps part. Well, hopefully it would have been without them.......)

We are going to use the proceeds from crafts for chris to go toward his May medications.......and then we just have to scrape by June and we will have made it to The Oasis Of Disability Benefits And Medicaid.

Sometimes I feel like I yap on too much about this, like a broken record. But I just don't think I can express what y'all have TRULY meant to our family. Chris says it simplest and best......"the daisies saved me, body and soul". And y'all saved my HEART......because it was breaking from not being able to provide Chris with the therapy and tools he needed to continue healing.

We just love you guys. Seriously=)

You may now return to your program already in progress: vileness such as breast pumps and newborn kittens. Jeez, where's the content warning here?

Hey y'all, it's been forever since I've popped in. Thought I'd say hi though, and go check out the crafts for Chris. It's so awesome what you all have done!

Elisabeth, I'm so glad that you spoke up and gave MWOP a chance that lead to the daisies doing so much good for Chris and getting the word out there!

I do hope everyone's doing OK. I miss y'all. I've been trying to keep up with most everyone through their blogs, but I've seen some new people (hi!) and I've got to visit their blogs, too.

Chat more in the next couple days. =)

CPTwife said...

Hi, I thought I would pop in too! How has everyone been? This is a very busy place! I'm glad to hear that Karen's ama cat had her kittens. Miss H just looked at the picture and said, "Awww...let's go touch them!"

Muliebrity said...

Elisabeth, Thanks so much for the update! I love hearing about his progress and I am seriously in awe of your dedication!

PJ said...

mmmm....kitties.....

I'm a dog fan myself, but I love them kitties......

PJ said...

Hey CPTwife - been a while!

Hi Mulie!

Thank you for the update, Elisabeth. You are a sweet sister and both you and Chris are loved from afar by the vile and evil Daisies.

Morning Jill. Quiet here.

Corinne - alert the media - we're both here at the same time!

Anonymous said...

CK - I'm calling right now! ;-D
How are you? Any plans for today?

Margo said...

I love the kittens!

Elisabeth - thanks for the update. Little meltdowns are good for the soul when one is under stress - and your stress is extreme. May is National Stroke Month so I'm going to match any donations made off my charms and magnets to help Chris with his medications.

My dad had a stroke earlier this year. It probably would have gone unnoticed but he passed out in front of a room full of physicians. His was actually caused by his BP being too low. He was on the slopes in Tahoe a week later but it was scary all the same.

My crew is headed out to pull their minnow traps - it's a secret spot that mommy is not to know about :)

PJ said...

I'm off to ancient Egypt this morning to make papyrus with the kiddies.

Drug delivery to C's dorm room. Then stuff at home. Nothing glamorous.

How about you?

PJ said...

My mom had a couple of "mini strokes" (TIAs) and my dad had a stroke while playing tennis.

Lately I've feeling like I have a target on my back (or my head).

I'm not normally an anxious person (thank you Lexapro), but this has been bothering me for a few weeks.

PJ said...

I've feeling = I've been feeling

Margo said...

Your = you're :)

PJ said...

MT - let's blame it on the dementia.

Margo said...

My worst typo ever was writing pubic instead of public in a PPT presentation for a conference of several hundred. Oops!

Anonymous said...

CK - Nothing exciting here ;) I went to my grandparents yesterday and this morning I spent a few hours studying for my statistics class.

Margo said...

Hi Corinne!

PJ said...

Oh dear MT - and spell check wouldn't catch that one, would it?

Is this faux pas the reason you are no longer Prime Minister?

PJ said...

Grandparents - sweet...

Statistics - not so much...

Margo said...

Statistics - eek!

Anonymous said...

Good morning Mrs Thatcher. It's a pleasure to have a celebrity hang out with us :-D

PJ said...

MT - lovely picture there on Wikipedia. You are a looker.

Anonymous said...

I like statistics but the professor is B-O-R-I-N-G. She's paid to read her powerpoint presentations. Boring. That said, I may have found the cure to chronic insomnia...Attend one of her classes ;-)

PJ said...

Off to get ready for my trip back in time. See you later.

twirldawg said...

I'm catching up from last night.
I'm jealous of Mulie's bag. I love bags of all kinds.

kristin said...

Hey vile women!

Great to see CPT and Heather!

Love the kitties!

LMAO @ pubic vs. public.

PJ said...

Good thing you like the topic, Corinne. Otherwise you'd need a cot and your jammies for class.

twirldawg said...

ugh, still catching up.

The kitties are giving me kitten fever.
Elisabeth glad for the update. I know this is tough on your whole family. Chris is lucky to have a sister like you.
Heather, hi. The new Sookie Stackhouse book comes out Tuesday!

Margo said...

I thought the purple hat and suit were appropriate for Derby day.

Anonymous said...

Good morning ladies.

I love kitties.

Watched Seven Pounds with Will Smith last night. It was okay. Fixing gardens and buying veggies today.

Margo said...

We don't plant until the end of May - we could still get a frost.

Anonymous said...

MT- if I don't buy them now they will be gone. So for three weeks or so, I'll be moving plants around.

Margo said...

I'm thinking of taking a trip to the beach to get a load of seaweed. We put seaweed around the plants at the beach house - keeps the weeds down no fuss no muss.

T@iy@ said...

Morning all!

Elisabeth- that is such great news for you and Chris! I am so happy that you have been a little less stressed.

Margo said...

Taiya - howaiya

T@iy@ said...

MT- Seaweed, really? Is it really thick seaweed? My parents have a very disgusting pond with seaweed right down the hill from where we garden. Makes me think...

KaytieJ said...

Morning Daisies!

Exotic group here today - England and Egypt and a Vile Viking that *gasp studies statistics :-D

Elisabeth and Chris - Thank you so much for your update. We have missed you! Meltdown? Hon, you are a saint of a sister and Chris knows that, even if he was being a brat - I mean really, who eats ice cream with a small spoon? Small spoons are for gelato :-D

Ms. Derby Day Thatcher - You are awesome! Your matching donations will help so much.

Having a few minutes of peace before the teens and dh blast in from a weekend of ATVing, Skeet and fishing. One thing I know is, they are not going to touch my computer. We Daisies have some serious bidding to do :-D

T@iy@ said...

Got to sleep in this morning. :) Hubs got up with DD, so i am good!

KaytieJ said...

Good news Taiya!

Margaret if you are out there (g) what time does the auction close?

T@iy@ said...

Oh, good question, Kaytie, because I just put it on my facebook again, and I should put when it is going to close.

T@iy@ said...

I just put a post up about Crafts for Chris, I mean.

KaytieJ said...

I know that it says 5pm, so my question should be, what time zone?

Erin said...

Good morning.
Mulie- Pearl Jam? I am jealous.

I can't believe FT 'called' the white and black kitty before me, damn her. She's *always trying to swipe my stuff ::whines::

DWD/CK- any improvement on C's back? Is she still doing PT? I feel bad for her :(

Kaytie- I will respectfully disagree with you and back chris up on this. Small spoon *always for ice cream. ;)

Elizabeth you made me LOL with this: "You may now return to your program already in progress: vileness such as breast pumps and newborn kittens. Jeez, where's the content warning here?"

Margo said...

It closes at 5 pm Eastern time today.

T@iy@ said...

EL- I *knew I went too far with the breast pump talk. ::hanging head in shame::

KaytieJ said...

Thank you, MT.

"Kaytie- I will respectfully disagree with you"
Erin - this made me giggle - yes, we are so vile :-D

Anonymous said...

MT.......I have ALSO done the dreaded pubic/public typo on a presentation!! Has NO one escaped this cruel fate??! Mine was on a transparency projected onto the altar of our old church......FYI when the typo is in the context of "demonstrating your faith in pubic".....yes, people WILL notice.

It seems like now that Chris has had a stroke, everyone has been touched by the hand of this monster has touched everyone. We joke about "vile" but strokes are the very definition of it. They are SO arbitrary. MT and DD have family history and that is a reason to be scared. But our family did NOT have a history of it and Chris had what they called a "catastrophically massive" stroke out of the clear blue sky. And THAT is a reason for everyone to be scared. He was in his 30s, had a job that kept him in good shape physically......I just never knew it could be SO random.

One thing that has not been discussed a lot.....Chris went through a bad breakup a few weeks before the stroke. It was really the first TRUE heartbreak of his life. He was always the one to break the hearts before this. He truly felt this person was who he was meant to spend his life with, but the person was not at all ready to settle down. Chris did not grieve, instead he worked even more. I mention this because I KNOW there are at least a few women here who are going through something similar........a bad heartbreak. And you want to keep right on pushing like nothing happened. Chris knows now that if he had gotten some kind of therapy or even just took time to let himself nurse his broken heart, it might have kept the stroke from happening. We will never know for sure but we certainly think the stress of that breakup is what caused the high blood pressure which ultimately caused the stroke.

Even if it's not "the worst heartbreak of your life" like it was for him........take the time to mourn your losses and setbacks. It's a hard lesson to learn, something that is much easier to say than actually practice. Even though it tears me up to look at it, I keep a photo of Chris from when he was on life support......and look at it often because I have to remind myself not to let the stress of caring for him overwhelm me.....or I could be right behind him, taking my number for the icu.

And that concludes our Sunday morning sermon, apparently......=)

KaytieJ said...

For shame, Taiya.

And look at this from the AOL board:
Shockingly vile
"Obama Mocks Plenty of People, Including Himself
The president joked about Jay Leno and Sarah Palin at a White House dinner. Find out who else got zinged"

Anonymous said...

Please excuse my ridiculous grammar goof re "everyone has been touched by this monster that has touched everyone". I obviously should have slept last night instead of doing the PubLic Typo Tango with the hubs.

Margo said...

Did you see there was a car bomb in Times Square?

Margo said...

I should say a car bomb was found in times square early this morning.

KaytieJ said...

Elisabeth said - "Even if it's not "the worst heartbreak of your life" like it was for him........take the time to mourn your losses"

You are so right on this and thank you. And I do tie this into being thankful for Daisy as a nonmoderated site where people can discuss many issues or be silly and just chat. There is much stress relief and therapy in that.

Angie said...

Morning all! Guess who finally took her fat ass to the grocery store? :-D

KaytieJ said...

Yes I did Princess M. Thank goodness they found it.

KaytieJ said...

WooHoo! Morning, SW!

Anonymous said...

Kaytie......I didn't even know he was awake, but Chris just yelled "tell Kaytie a homo in Texas looooooves her. Oh and ask her if she thinks pot would help me"

So.

Between that and me waking my husband up for butt pimple patrol, it's a proud proud day for my mother.

Margo said...

Ditto to what Kay said! It's theraputic to share life's experiences good and bad.

Margo said...

For the record I am not really Princess Margaret - nor have I ever met Princess Margaret. However, I have met her sister. Sadly, when I met her there was a "situation" involving myself, the secret service and my donald duck purse.

Angie said...

Bella, check in and tell us how your dinner party went!

Lisa said...

Elisabeth...butt pimple patrol? *hides face*

I'm just going to quietly back out of the room now and pretend I was never here.

Muliebrity said...

My dog took off this morning (with my fat ass not quite on his heels) and ran his little short corgi butt right into a church! Oye.

Angie said...

Can we just leave now?

Angie said...

Mulie, Ha! What denomination? 'Cause those Southern Baptists aren't known for their tolerance...

Erin said...

Great. Just great. A homo in Texas love *Kaytie, but I get no love for backing him on up the very important small spoon issue ::pouts::

Angie said...

Princess Margaret, from a distance, your avatar pic looks like Scarlett O'hara at the barbecue.

Muliebrity said...

It's some strange foreign peoples church where the woman wear head gear. They don't even have a sign outside.

Lisa said...

Erin, I'm sad, too. He apparently dumped my ass and never even told me. :-(

Angie said...

Erin, I'm just shocked that Elisabeth didn't know about the small spoon ice cream rule. Duh.

Erin said...

Hey Mulie I have a corgi too! Pembroke or Welsch? And have we discussed this ever *before?? ;)

Angie said...

Forein peoples church. ::shudder:: We daisies aren't supposed to like foreign peoples churches, are we? ::flipping through the daisy hate manual::

Lisa said...

Mulie, Your Corgi ran into a mosque...ROFL!!

Erin said...

<--- hates a big spoon for *anything

DPW- I forgot to reload my fridge last night, and am on my last cold one. I don't like it with ice. :(

Lisa said...

Hey, Heather, it's good to see you again - don't be such a stranger. :-)

And Elisabeth, what you said way up there? Thank you...so, so sweet and I'm glad if we've been able to help even a little. To know we may have helped a lot is just wonderful!

Muliebrity said...

I think they are Eastern European. And EL, I don't know you had a naughty corgi! He's a Pembroke! And a brat. He's only about one, so they is still hope that he may one day decide to listen to me.

Angie said...

Erin, drink it slow! I like them cold, with ice. I'm having to drink it hot with ice today, but it's better than nothing!

Lisa said...

DPW, I like mosques. Are we not supposed to like them? Again, no one tells me shit around here...

Lisa said...

Mulie, Greek Orthodox, maybe, then. If so, he knows what he's doing...they bless pets at the one here. :-)

Erin said...

Mulie- what's his name, and what color? I have a 6 month old tri, pembroke named Roxy. There are pics of her on my vile, hate, filled blog. She is a naughty nellie too!

Muliebrity said...

His name is Rolf, and his red and white. I got him from the Humane Society for $75 a few months ago. He's a stinker!

Anonymous said...

Everyone can stop hiding, it was not a butt pimple. It was a butt mosquito bite.

I'm lying, but *I don't want to be the one who REALLY does necessitate a content warning!

AP & EL......he says, and I quote....."AP is my one true IIWS love. Everyone else has their place but if this place was all Big Love-y........AP is my Barb".

Like I said.....proud day for our family, LOL

Angie said...

AP, I got the ingredients to make the shrimp curry soup you had the other night. I'm excited about it!

Eastern Orthodox -- wasn't that the religion in the wedding scene of the Deer Hunter? I love that movie.

KaytieJ said...

Chris - Right back at ya Babe! When I get to Texas we are heading out to a gay bar, only I get to be Cher. Gotta keep your hands off hubby, though, even though he looks like Warren Beatty - with freckles ;-D

Elisabeth - I am howling - you knocked out both SW and AP with that one!

KaytieJ said...

OMG Mulie! A Mosque?! We had some Malaysian Muslims out at our place. They were terrified of our three dogs. Your Corgi must have caused chaos!

Margo said...

I can't keep up with who we are not supposed to like.

Angie said...

Here's a short list, PM: Our husbands, JM, IM, GM, and Jews.

Lisa said...

""AP is my one true IIWS love. Everyone else has their place but if this place was all Big Love-y........AP is my Barb"

I feel better. Of course, I'm good with Kaytie being equal, all things considered. I've leered at her for years and would share. :-D

SW, the soup is *so good but I still vote for doubling up the shrimp in it and adding some rice noodles. Let us know how you liked it. And I never saw The Deer Hunter, so I'm not sure.

Welllp, Jake's on his way home - again. And I called the a/c guy and he'll be here tomorrow afternoon. With luck, $300 electric bills, here I come. :-P

Lisa said...

"Here's a short list, PM: Our husbands, JM, IM, GM, and Jews."

Do we have to not like Israel? I'm not sure I can do that.

Lisa said...

I'm still trying to catch up from earlier - CPTWife! How is life treating you?

Margo said...

That helps - I'm a list person.

I changed my avatar as I do not want to misrepresent myself - I'm a princess not a low down southern snob.

Angie said...

AP, I did get double the amount of shrimp called for. Forgot the noodles. :-( Guess I'll serve with rice. I also couldn't find a can of straw mushrooms, so will use fresh button mushrooms.

Margo said...

I'm with AP on IM too - I don't think he's such a bad guy.

Margo said...

DD is playing with the son of one of the renters next door. They are having a yard sale today because the owner closed on her house last Thursday. I wonder if that means we don't have to go to court?

Lisa said...

DPW, rice will be fine with it and I used fresh button mushrooms, too. Like you, not a can of the others to be found.

PM, I like the new avatar.

KaytieJ said...

Oh boy, Jake still not home? I bet he is going to be fried after all that drama-rama.

Lisa said...

PM, evil, vile neighbor is moving?

KaytieJ said...

PM - I hope it also means no more nasty neighbor.

Karen--the kittens are adorable. But then, how hard is it for kittens to be adorable?

Angie said...

Hey Robin! Have you had any rain at your house this weekend? We were supposed to get rain all weekend, and haven't had a drop. I'm going to have to get out and water my plants if the rain doesn't come through today.

Angie said...

I'm watching Julie & Julia. Ebert didn't like it, but I think it's because he doesn't cook. I'm enjoying it.

Robin said...

DPS--not a DROP. It's disgusting. I'm going out in a few minutes to water. I didn't for the last two days because they've kept saying it would rain. Now they say it's supposed to rain tonight, but I ain't trusting 'em anymore!

My husband was supposed to go to a PLOW DAY in Alabama this weekend. It was canceled due to the threat of rain. Not a drop fell, we heard.

Robin said...

*DPS=DPW

Angie said...

It's Plow Day time again! Woohoo! My earliest memory of you is you talking about Plow Day.

KaytieJ said...

SW - I just saw Julie and Julia. I really liked it. Meryl Streep is wonderful in capturing Julia, don't you think?

Lisa said...

'Morning, R2.

It's really wrong that I like this woman, isn't it? http://stevenandersonfamily.blogspot.com/
Oh, she's full of shit on some things, yes, but I still like her. Too bad that would probably freak her out. :-D

Angie said...

Kaytie, Meryl is incredible. She can do anything.

Angie said...

AP, it's INCREDIBLY WRONG! What the heck? Here's an excerpt, to save the rest of you the time and clicks:

"See, I don't believe in tolerance. I believe in absolutes, in right and wrong. And, like just about everyone else since the creation of this world, I consider homosexuality sick and perverted, whether or not it is between "consenting" adults. There is also a lot of incest taking place between consenting adults, would you consider that normal, too? If not, what are you basing that conviction on? Because it is unnatural? Well, so is homosexuality. You see, when you are your own moral compass, rather than an absolute such as the Bible, you are really lost at sea.

Still, you will not find me writing comments such as yours to any homo. I just say that they are all sick and perverted on my own blog, but I don't feel a need to personally go after each and every one of them. I leave that up to God."

Margo said...

I guess the neighbor is moving :)

Lisa said...

DPW, I know what she says but that's okay...she's entitled to her opinion and heck, I respect her for having the guts to own it instead of being politically correct and scared of people not liking her. It honestly doesn't bother me in the least, her saying that. I'm not offended. That's how she feels and I actually agree with her on some other things.

Lisa said...

PM, that's excellent news! Will the royal family be having a celebration?

Angie said...

I guess I kind of admire your tolerant attitude, AP. But I can't go there, myself. I don't respect people who seek to deny others basic civil rights. And if you invite David Duke to a dinner party, I'm not coming to that one either. :-b

Anonymous said...

Good morning, everyone :)

The dinner party went great. We had a nice night to be outside and the food and company was great. I'm recovering from my cleaning marathon and enjoying a still semi-clean house :)

Those kittens are precious. I once convinced an old boyfriend that there was something called "The Kitten Replacement Program", where you could trade in your kitten when it became an adult for a brand new kitten, so you would always have a perpetual kitten. It went on for a week, but I had to cave when he told me it wasn't on google.

Lisa said...

Well, we'll miss you at that dinner party because I'd sit down with him in a *heartbeat. That would be some interesting conversation, right there. I do respect people who are firm in their convictions and not afraid to stand up for what they believe in, even if I don't agree with them. Would you come to the dinner party if I made fried chicken? :-D

Lisa said...

"I once convinced an old boyfriend that there was something called "The Kitten Replacement Program", where you could trade in your kitten when it became an adult for a brand new kitten, so you would always have a perpetual kitten."

Is the fact he believed you part of why you are no longer together?

KaytieJ said...

AP - I'd rather read about Elisabeth's Butt Pimple than that drivel. Yes she has a right to voice her opinions, and I am glad she just keeps it on her own blog. The Tea Party pics were adorable, though.

KaytieJ said...

Hey Bella! Glad you had a good evening!

Robin said...

Afternoon, AP.

DPW--I went to a PLOW DAY in SC a few weeks ago with my husband. I was skipping the one this weekend, though (now scheduled for next weekend). It's at the same place last year's Alabama PLOW DAY was at. My new rule is to go ONLY if it's a new place I can explore while he plows.

When he was plowing in SC, I drove about 20 miles into Greenville. It's a charming little city.

Anonymous said...

No, I liked him, AP. I love practical jokes and such, and stupid fibs like that. He went away to college and we fizzled.

Angie said...

Bella, glad the party went well! LOL on the kitten replacement program!

Anonymous said...

Hi Kaytie and Robin :)

Believe it or not!
