TGIF!

Have a good end of the week and please don't forget to read this important Daisy news if you haven't done so already.  Also, please help  Chris, either financially, with prayer or both.  Everything is appreciated.

Lastly, blog posts are going to be noon and midnight, at least until Monday.  Then we'll see how things look.
Have a great rest of the day and weekend!

Karen! I missed you saying Hi earlier. Hi! I've missed you! We're due for a long newsy post, and an update on the kittens!

Shannon, Ebert is my movie god. I listen to him exclusively and he never fails me. Okay, once, with Eyes Wide Shut, which he loved and I didn't, though I've grown to appreciate it since I first saw it.

Hope everybody is having a Happy Friday and that all the daisies come back to the flower bed soon!

Afternoon Daisies. My kiddos are off of school today. I'll be in and out. What's for dinner? I'm at a loss.

Hey SW! Just saying hi to everyone; I hope all are having a grrrrrrreat! Friday. Back to work for me, sigh!

Sandy, let's have Schlitz for dinner :)

About time lol

Sandy, I'm trying to eat more healthy, and am planning an iceberg salad and baked chicken breast with a bit of barbecue sauce.

Belllllaa! I always want to say your name like Stanley Kowalski did in Streetcar.

Jill, less than 5.5 left!

Sandy said...

Bella, Schiltz or Hamm's...I'm going grocery shopping, lol.

Anonymous said...

How about a combo pack? Sadly, I think I'm actually having chicken again, so I'm no help in the dinner department.

twirldawg said...

Yes, 5.5 days!! I'm just packing and cleaning now.

Sandy said...

Combo pack it is. Off to the store. BBL

Okay, Ebert really liked Letters to Juliet. I wasn't expecting him to. His review of it is sweet: http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20100512/REVIEWS/100519988

Hi Daisy's! Its beautiful outside - sunny and warm, been spending time in the sun. Tay is sleeping, when he gets up I think I'm taking him for a nice long walk, maybe feed the ducks! Then his mommy is coming for dinner and to watch about 3 episodes of Lost that we need to catch up! Steaks on the bbq for dinner! I'll be back later to chat I hope! Have a great Friday everyone!!

SW - Letters to Juliet sounds like teh kind of movie I'd love. I know. Guilty-pleasure of mine.
That said, you're right, it's not the kind of movie I'd have expected Roger Ebert to like.

Erin said...

Letters to juliet looks good too. Eyes wide Shut? No comment. That and Vanill Sky were 2 of the worst (imo) movies I have seen. I really don't like Tom though.

Anonymous said...

EL - I liked Eyes wide shut but hated Vanilla Sky. I can't stand Tom Cruise either.
My sister *loves and I mean is obsessed with Top Gun. I used to really like that movie but, now that I've seen it a hundred times, I'm over it ;-D

Yard sale-ing this morning. Found some decorations for the baby's room: white butterflies, embroidery hoops, and some birds. I am planning to spray everything white and/or Spring green and I bought some material for the hoops at Wal-Mart and will hang the hoops on the wall. I hope it doesn't look dumb. I am not very crafty.

Erin said...

Mulie- that is a great idea with the hoops.

Corinne- I get so mad at movies like that. they are a waste of my time! Can I also say I hate you a little? Now I am singing 'Highway to the Danger Zone'. Grr.

EL - That's for you

Hehe.

I'm off to watch "Castle". Have a good day ladies!

Erin said...

Not gonna look Corinne. And you can't make me.

Muliebrity said...

Ooooo, enjoy "Castle," Corinne! One of my favorite shows!

I am slightly high from spray painting and forgot to get the damn cat food at Wally.

Arrrgh! I just wrote a long post and it didn't post! ::shaking fist at blogger gods::

Angie said...

Okay, take two on this post. This time I’m typing it in Word. Effing blogger.

I just got back from a long adventurous lunch with my bf (bf is best friend). It didn’t start out being long, but after lunch my car wouldn’t start. We had driven separately, as we do because she smokes and wants to smoke on the way there and back, so she drove me to the rental place since I knew I probably wouldn’t be able to get it fixed before Monday.

Rental place was a madhouse. They were out of cars, and all I could get was a HUGE Silverado truck. Which is so much bigger than my little Mazda that of course I’m terrified driving it. About a mile in, my testicles dropped and I think it will be okay. It’s too bad I can’t think of anything big I need to buy this weekend so I can put it to use.

Those of you who pray please pray for the poor folks who might get sideswiped by me in this weekend.

PJ said...

Mazda up to a Silverado truck? Wow, SW. Just Wow.

What kind of Mazda do you drive? I have a Mazda 3 - red hatchback - zoom zoom zoom.

Muliebrity said...

Did you call AAA or anything first or does your car have a habit of being crappy?

Angie said...

2000 Mazda 626, CK. It's past time for a new one, but if I drive it one more year, I'll have had it for 10 years, which I think is cool. And, it only has 109K miles on it.

Oh, I forgot the part in the story where my bf and I tried to jump my car off. I've jumped off cars several times so it should have been no big deal. We couldn't figure out on my car which side of the battery was positive. Adding to the embarrassment is the fact that we're both electrical engineering majors. [pause for snickers] But in my defense my car battery is very old and dirty and it didn't have a + or - on it that we could find. So we tried it both ways and neither made the car start. :-)

And the whole process made me very hot and grumpy and a bit gritty.

PJ said...

Hmmmm - I guess if you don't use it you lose it, right, SW. Dirty, shmirty.

Angie said...

You know, I am an AAA member but didn't think to call them. All I could think about was what course of action would get me back in air conditioning the fastest. My car has been great, but it's been running rough lately and I knew this was coming. All things considered, it happened on a good day. I had a friend with a car there with me, so there was no "who's gonna come get me" panic.

I hope that you'll post nursery pics when you're done, Mulie. It sounds like it's going to be cute.

PJ said...

We will finally be without a car payment as of August. And we will stay that way. For as long as we can.

Angie said...

I haven't had a car payment in like 15 years, and it's been very nice. I was in law school, er, I mean cop school, when I bought my current car. I financed cop school by cashing in my 401K plan from my previous job, and used a chunk of that to buy a car because my 1989 Mazda 626 was on its last legs. I tend to drive cars forever. Both of my Mazda 626s have been awesome cars.

CK, Mazda 3's are cute.

PJ said...

WTG, SW. I bet it's been nice to be without one that long.

But cashing in your 401K plan? The former accountant in me cringes.....

Sandy said...

I have a mom van. ::sighs:: It has ass warmers for the winter so I can't complain. We had it for 10 years and it has 45K on it.

We have a 74 Stingray in storage though hehe!

Angie said...

Seriously, CK, it was a horrifically dumb financial move. But I've never been good at money, so that's my excuse. The way I saw it (which is a stupid way), the money wasn't really mine or really real anyway unless I cashed it in. So of 90K in the plan, I got about half, which was a lot of money and got me through school plus a good car. I might regret it when I'm old and broke as shit. But right now I'm okay with the decision.

Angie said...

10 years and 45 K? That's impressive! I thought mine had low mileage!

PJ said...

Love me some ass warmers, Sandy. Somebody I used to car pool with to a group I was in had them - mmmmm.....

Holy moly - my Mazda is five years old and I have 110,000 miles on it. I have a killer commute.

PJ said...

Does anybody have a good idea for a service project for a group of families to do?

Something we can do in about an hour or two - are there any national organizations sponsoring care packages for troops?

Angie said...

CK, call your local elder care organization. They are always looking for volunteers to help old folks with their home repairs, yardwork, and the like. Also, there may be a community garden that you guys can work in that benefits some needy folks.

Muliebrity said...

I bought my mini-van just over 2 years ago with 24k on it. It now had 76k on it. That hurts.

PJ said...

SW - good idea - thanks.

Hey :) Let's get this Friday started!

Angie said...

Cheers, Bella! I need to drive my big ole Silverado to the liquor store for some vodka! Gotta plan everything I do this weekend based upon how much room there is to park tho.

bookjunkie said...

Happy Friday, Daisies! Hope everyone's doing good. I'm working tonight but not without a little bitchin' about it the whole time since it's Fri. night.

Been lurking, nothing witty to say, and just wanted to say hey. I'm trying to make a decision about going back to school and stressing myself out over all the options this week. Hate making decisions like this but gotta do something - need $ and job stability.

KaytieJ- hope you have a good night @ work.

SW- I'm thinking you should take a road trip to see AP in that big honkin' Silverado. ;) You could haul all the hisbiscus(es ?) she's wanting to get for her yard. I had a 2000 Mazda, too and loved that little car. Totaled it when I hit a stupid deer last year though. Daughter told me just yesterday how much she misses the Mazda because I have a 2-door car now and she hates it.

Y'all have a good weekend.

bookjunkie said...

CK- I sent books and a care package with other stuff through this organization a couple of years ago. http://www.booksforsoldiers.com/

Angie said...

Hi BJ! What would you study if you go back to school?

I'm sorry you totaled your Mazda? I hope you weren't injured.

PJ said...

BJ - thanks - I'll check it out. Off to home.

bookjunkie said...

Thanks, SW. Very scary hitting the deer but we were okay, thank goodness. Still freaks me out a little to drive at night b/c there are so many deer in our area.

Going back to school for nursing but just nervous about trying to work and go to school and trying to figure out which program I'm going to do, etc. Was actually thinking about LPN first and then RN just b/c I feel more confident that I could do that and ease into the nursing thing. But, now I'm actually thinking straight into RN is probably the best thing to do. KaytieJ- I'd love to hear your opinion. May check with you when you have another stretch of days off work. Any other nurses around here?

Y'all don't get too rowdy tonight. I'll try to stop by for some Schlitz and pork rinds later.

Taiya- you still lurking? I miss hearing about your adventures with DD everyday. Hope you'll check in and let us know about the new baby.

Margaret- =( Hope you're still reading, too and will check in again with us later.

AP- Gina still doing okay? Didn't you say you bought something new and exotic to cook the other day? I thought so but may be wrong on that. If you did, you better fill us in.

Anonymous said...

Bookjunkie......I just wanted to say woohah go you! You would be GREAT in any health care service, I just know it. Some people, like KayJ, are obviously meant to care for and minister to people in that way, and I can totally see you being one of those people.

Taiya.....Margaret.....PLEASE come back.....

Y'all should look at the video I just posted on twitter (care4chris)
It sounds like a chainsaw symphony.

Erin said...

BJ- lol on this "AP- Gina still doing okay? Didn't you say you bought something new and exotic to cook the other day?" I was reading too fast, and I had to stop b/c I thought you were asking if AP cooked *Gina!

Angie said...

LOL Erin!

Census was calling my name tonight.

Muliebrity said...

So I was trying to get into the Radiologic Tech or Nursing program offered through my Community College last year and was told because on the meds I was on for my chronic back problems, I may not be able to get in.

Angie said...

What Mulie? That's crazy!

Muliebrity said...

Seriously, can they do that? I would not be able to do the physical work without pain meds though. I would actually not be able to any work without pain meds. It's pretty annoying.

Angie said...

I don't know if they can legally do it. You should ask them for a copy of their policy.

Muliebrity said...

They didn't say I couldn't apply.

Muliebrity said...

My baby is totally trying to flip back!
