So good to be back!

Here...for all our birdies out there and for all who love 'em!

Thanks again to Nitsirk for taking care of this place while I was stranded and please, remember Chris in any way you can.  Money, prayers, or just spreading the word about him and what happened to him (and how it could happen to any of us), it's all good.

It looks like one post a day is doing fine around here so I'll stick with it until/unless we pick up.
Happy Thursday!

I really should be in bed but I drank a cup of coffee late and now I'm sitting here clipping coupons. Yay, me!

Lisa said...

Sandy, where do you get your coupons? From the Sunday paper?

Sandy said...

From the Sunday paper and from Coupons.com. You can also go to Redplum and Smart Source too.

Really Frugal said...

OH, End Times. Reminds me of something I think SW will love. I guess our area is kind of countrified and conservative. The big feature on the local NBC affiliate this week; "Are we really coming to the End Times? Tune in at six tomorrow to hear what local spiritual leaders say is the truth about the approaching time of judgement." Now, I am a Christian, and I have no problem with people discussing their views, but the big lead for the news?

Sandy said...

I also go to Target.com and get some coupons there.

RF, really?

Lisa said...

RF, are they referring to 2012? Still and all, that's odd for a big feature. And thanks, I do use Smart Source but will check Redplum. Doesn't coupons.com use that coupon brick thing? I never could make it work on my computer.

Really Frugal said...

Yeah, Sandy, they've been advertising it for a week. I think the report was actually tonight. I didn't watch it.

I think drugstore.com has a lot of coupons to print too.

Sandy said...

It does and every single time I run a virus scan, it comes up as adware and my program deletes it. Pain in the ass but I've gotten our grocery bill down to 50-60 dollars a week. Yes, I am the coupon lady in the checkout line holding everyone up :P

Really Frugal said...

AP, don't know. Just struck me as really odd. I should sleep. We go to my daughter's tomorrow, spend the night and bring home three little ones for the weekend. Goodnight, daisies.

Sandy said...

Night RF, I'm heading out myself. Maybe some bad tv will put me to sleep. Good night.

Lisa said...

"Yes, I am the coupon lady in the checkout line holding everyone up :P"

I won't complain if I'm behind you. I love it when people use coupons and I'm about as excited as they are to see how much comes off their bill. Have fun tomorrow and with your grandkids this weekend!

Hi everyone! Popping in for a while...

AP - I had to laugh at your mention of Miley Cyrus jewelry. I imagined you wearing that and well...that was kinda funny (in my mind anyways):-D
Cadmium is dangerous because it's a heavy metal and well, heavy metal poisoning is a very serious thing.

I see Blogger was a PITA yesterday. Hoping today's a better day ;-)

KaytieJ said...

Good Morning Vile Ones :-D

Jill - Happy Next to Last Day! WooHoo!

Mulie - Write that book!

Sandy - Those are some big savings. Thanks for the links.

Even though I hate working day shift, I get to work in the Computer Lab today. YAY! I am so peopled out :-D

twirldawg said...

Morning.
Hey Kaytie!

Good morning, all!

Yesterday I learned that Hurricane Katrina was caused by the Russians! Maybe next they will find a cure for alcoholism and cold winters!

KaytieJ said...

Hey Jill :-D

RiM - Hope you were busy horsebacking yesterday. If not, hope all is well.

KaytieJ said...

Hmmmm...since I am working with the IT Squad today, I wonder if I can go to work in my Favorite Kiss T-Shirt?

Margo said...

Mulie - you are TOO funny.

Hannah is super sick - her asthma is out of control.

Kaytie - I think you should get one of those tattoo sleve shirts to wear under scrubs!

Deb said...

Good morning Daisies!

Sandy - I don't mind standing behind the coupon lady, I *do mind waiting for people to take forever to write a check anymore.

It is supposed to be gorgeous here today, finally! I am in desperate need of sunshine. Apparently so are my kids because they have been complete whine-a-sours the past couple of days.

Deb said...

Margaret - Aw, I'm sorry about Hannah, I hope she gets some relief.

Kaytie - by all means wear the t-shirt, the IT Squad probably needs a shake up!

Angie said...

Morning all! Blogger was a whore last night. Figures, we finally get AP back and can't freaking talk to her! AP, what happened with your farm while you were internetsless? Did it dry up and wither? :-(

LOL re "probably increase your hormones to the point you act like a slut or something while remaining 16 for 3 years."

Angie said...

Kaytie! Haven't seen you lately! How've you been? What do you do when you work in the computer lab?

Angie said...

Hi Margaret, sorry about Hannah being sick.

Jill, how's your mood? Two more half days is all, right? Then two half planning days maybe?

KaytieJ said...

SW - Loved your Dyke Driving Silverado Stories!

I work with the IT team every once in awhile on projects for the computer charting. Great team to work with and it is a nice change up from patient care. I think they would get a hoot out of my Favorite Kiss T-Shirt :-D

Margaret - Great idea on Tattoo shirt! Sorry to hear H is having asthma attack :-(

OK - Got to get son to school and head on in to work. Have a great day Vile Ones!

Deb said...

Good morning!

Been MIA a little bit, but just busy with school and assorted blather.

Gong to watch Shrek the Final Chapter (or whatever it is) in 3D this weekend, and am oddly a little bit pathetically excited.

Bought all 4 bikes at Walmart yesterday. Which? Elevates you to some sort of bizarre celebrity status. Like you're rich folk or something. lol.

What has been going on around here?

Anonymous said...

Hi everyone!

Margaret - I'm sorry about Hannah :(

Did you all see that Angie Smith gave birth to Charlotte? I'm happy for them!

Anonymous said...

Hi RiM!

I'm excited about the fourh (?) Shrek installment too :-D

tumbleweedgirl said...

hey everyone. here's my taco meat.

1 lb ground beef
2 cans of black beans, or soak 2 cups of black beans and then cook them.
1 can refried beans, or soak 1 cup of black beans and then make into refritos
1 onion
4-6 garlic cloves
2-4 tsps cinnamon
1 tbsp cumin
3 tsp coriander
2 tsp oregano
1 can of tomatoes
some cilantro
splash of cloves
splash of thyme
as much cayenne as you can stand

saute the onion, garlic and all the spices.
add the meat.
cook until brown.
if you have to drain the meat, then don't add the spices until after that point. our meat is pretty lean, b/c it's local raised beef.
add the beans, and refritos
add the tomatoes
add the cilantro

cook, taste, cook, taste. the cinnamon is a mellow hidden taste that should sneak up on you. salt to taste.

Deb said...

RiM!!! - so what, now you get first class treatment at Walmart, or what! Is that an oxymoron?

Hey Corinne - I'm very happy for Angie too! The smile on her face holding Charlotte says it all.

I'm looking forward to Shrek too, though I hope it hasn't run it's course.

tumbleweedgirl said...

the caveat to the taco meat is i am just guessing at ammounts. i splash things in there until it smells like i like it. it should be delicate, but hot, secretly sweet, slightly bitter.

it should need a little sour cream, but no cheese. we eat it with corn tortillas when i make them, a little lettuce, more jalapenos, and a little sour cream. (: or plain yogurt. i usually have the yogurt anyway.

Angie said...

Aw, Deb! That's sweet!

Margo said...

Hannah is 6.5.

I'm excited about Shrek too - I mean for Hannah that is :) There is a new Toy Story coming out too!

Aw, little Charlotte. An new chapter begins.

Robin in Montana said...

Rhys - that sounds wonderful! (although I'd still add cheese, just because. I don't eat cheese on fish tacos though. Not that anyone asked.)

Deb - It was just kind of embarassing, like everyone and their dog had a comment to make about how "lucky some kids are", someone's birthday?, etc.,etc.,etc.

twirldawg said...

Less than an hour with these kiddos!

I'm a sucker for the Disney/Pixar movies.

Angie said...

Rhys, your taco meat recipe sounds delish! I wouldn't have thought of cinnamon.

Welcome back, Robin! Guess you're too good for us now that you're rich folk, huh?

Deb said...

<----must have cheese with tacos!

Margaret - I cannot wait for Toy Story 3!

Deb said...

Hey Jill! Clean out your stuff yet?

Margo said...

Did you all see the story of the bus driver who found a baby sitting in the middle of the street late at night. It happened last year but is hitting the news now. They showed footage from the buses camera of just riding along at night and then all of a sudden there is a baby sitting in the middle of the road in a diaper. Terrible!

twirldawg said...

I put cheese on nearly everything. No wonder my butt is so big.

Deb I'm tossing a lot of stuff. So. Much. Paper.

Angie said...

I saw that on the Today Show yesterday, Margaret. Chilling.

Muliebrity said...

I had to fortify my house so that wouldn't be my baby in the middle of the street in the middle of the night. I had a runner and doors that could be unlocked. I had a $600 alarm system installed that tells me what door or window is being opened.

TWG, How does your taco meat do frozen? I am planning to fry up some batches of burger for tacos, sauce, and rice this weekend. I also need some other freezer ideas.

tumbleweedgirl said...

mulie, i feel like it freezes quite well. if you were worried about the beans, i'd add them when you re-thaw. but i really freeze it a lot.

margaret, so sorry about hannah! i hope she starts pulling back around soon.

Robin in Montana said...

SW - I am just thinking to myself here because I haven't had breakfast so food in general all sounds good. What if for your fancy-schmancy appetizer you made Rhys' taco meat, used wonton wrappers to make 'ravioli', then either breaded them in panko, or not, and deep fried them. (I'd also put a pinch of cheese on top of the meat inside the ravioli) and then serve with salsa and sour cream dipping sauces?

Robin in Montana said...

Or used pie dough to make little empanadas, bake them or fry them, same thing.

tumbleweedgirl said...

rim

you HAD to mention empanada dough. i love the meat in that (:

so do the kids. so does Rock.

shoot. too bad i've got to go to PT today

Deb said...

The won-ton wrappers have a recipe included in the package for something like that, mexican won-tons! I saw it the last time we used them.

Deb said...

...but, I mean still use Rhys recipe. It's just that you *can do that with the won-ton wrappers. Maybe I can do that this weekend, hmmmmmm.

Angie said...

Mexican wontons sounds like a great supper club appetizer idea! Thanks! I can't do empanadas because I served that last supper club, but using wonton wrappers and a non-empanada shape would make it different enough.

Robin in Montana said...

I like won ton wrappers with ... layer a couple pieces of pepperoni, a third of a mozzarella cheese stick, and roll up like an egg roll and fry (best) or bake until crisp and serve with pizza sauce.

Robin in Montana said...

roll them like an egg roll ... easier to dip that way, too.

twirldawg said...

I kind of hate all of you right now.
I'm now starving and craving Mexican food.

Deb said...

I am now starving...thanks!

Robin in Montana said...

I am, too! ::shakes fist at all of you for making me talk food::

do you have wind out there? we've got wind, but layer up layer of blue and blue and white clouds are occluding the mountains. it should be a lovely day to drive to PT.

i suppose i should get ready. i'm letting lia sneak in a nap. i hope she does well today. she's so cute when she tries to walk, she kind of slides to one side or the other.

Robin in Montana said...

We are having wind, yes. Not as bad as we have had it, but windy. And rain. And the clouds are grayish and covering the mountaintops (which got snow last night.) But the meadowlarks are still flapping their beaks all day long! :-)

tumbleweedgirl said...

rim

we have little finches, or nuthatches, i think, and cliff swallows. they look like bright little tuxedos flying around.

tumbleweedgirl said...

and our high country (above 5,000) still has snow!

Shannon said...

Rhys I think we sent you that wind and rain. Yesterday was HORRIBLE. The wind here was gusting over 40mph and the clouds were seriously hauling ass and the rain was completely sideways...it was freaky. The day before yesterday Jeremy and Chris were out doing yards and actually caught an almost tornado. The pics showed the swirling of the clouds and developing little funnel cloud that dissipated pretty quickly.

Shannon said...

And all this food talk is making this girl hungry. I dont even like beans but that recipe sounds so good.

Shannon said...

It really doesnt help that I am watching this show about how they do a lot of sweets like licorice, peeps, Jelly Belly, Ben and Jerry's.....can I just say I want to live at the B&J factory?

Robin in Montana said...

I had nuthatches when I lived more in the trees. Out here on the flat land I get the meadowlarks, TONS of bluebirds, and ... shoot, what are they called. Lay their nests and eggs on the ground, act all wounded if they see you and try to distract you ... crud, it's on the tip of my tongue. Kildeer, I think.

Robin in Montana said...

And yes, there is still a ton of snow up high here. It's been so warm and sunny so in town at the gas station you see guys in tank tops and t-shirts, putting gas in their snowmobiles to head up and get that last little bit of fun for the year.

tumbleweedgirl said...

killdeer

we have lots of those.

it's almost like prairie out here, but drier... i would bet we have a lot of similar birds.

Shannon said...

Looking at some of the road cams to the east of us it looks like there is almost blizzards going on in the higher elevations....yikes.

tumbleweedgirl said...

my favorite bird is the avocet. and the greebs. (:

tumbleweedgirl said...

o, and the great american pelican. wow. they are so vividly awkward but graceful

tumbleweedgirl said...

shannon

tornadoes are scary things! Rock says he wants to see one

i've seen enough of them

Shannon said...

That does it then when Jeremy and I head to tornado country to chase a storm or two we shall stop by and pick up Rock on the way :)

Jeremy and I are both weather freaks and love big storms but we married people who really dont like weather at all.

I want to see a tornado but I do NOT want to be close enough to be in danger from it.

tumbleweedgirl said...

i have no clue what to get Rock for father's day

then i got an email from mr beer. (:

i'm getting him the seasonal stuff. then i'm going to start it brewing for him. as a secret.

Shannon said...

That is cool. I have wanted to try brewing beer but unfortunately I dont really like beer so I dont know how much use I would get for the work.

Robin in Montana said...

I've wondered about brewing beer. Or even making wine. I have a recipe for homemade kahlua that I'm always saying I"m going to make, but so far no go.

. said...

Morning y'all!

I'm excited for Shrek also! I love those movies.

What's everyone up to today? I have a gazillion pounds of laundry to fold. Yuck! I'm supposed to go have lunch with some friends, but I think I'm going to ditch.

Shannon said...

Wow you are a bundle of excitement Tara :) I get to finish my math so I can see about making sure I am ready for my math test. But tomorrow almost all of my household will be GONE!!! Chris will probably be across the street at his friend's house, Anne will be at her friend's house, and the rest are going to Washington for the weekend!!! WOOT Josh and I can be alone for most of the weekend!!!

Deb said...

Isn't Bella the brew master in the making?

Hi Tara! Sitting here trying to digest a Big & Tasty Burger and eye balling my twix bar. Yep, just call me a health nut! I know I will eat well this weekend, so screw it.

Lisa said...

Hi, all! Margaret, I'm sorry Hannah is struggling so. Hopefully she can get some relief soon, the poor baby.

Rhys, thank you for that recipe - it sounds great, and I love the idea of it for empanadas! Publix had another sirloin sale and I've got a sirloin something or other roast in the crockpot with red potatoes and carrots. It smells sooo good in here - all wine, onions and spices mixed with beef. I went heavy on lavender this time and am curious how that'll be.

I've forgotten what else I wanted to comment on, dammit.

Deb said...

Shannon - that weather sounds wild! I have been watching tons of weather, because I'm a weather nut and would *love to chase storms. I worry so much about our friend Jennifer from SIP. I hope they have been okay.

Shannon said...

DAMMIT AP NOW I WANT A ROAST FOR DINNER!!!! But I wont be here for dinner so there is no need to make such a thing :)

Shannon said...

WOW Deb I just looked on the weather channel and see the big glob of RED in the south central portion of the country....hope everyone out there is safe and sound and gets to miss the ugly.

Deb said...

Shannon - I know, it's a mess out there. The hail has been enormous out there lately, massive damage to property.

Shannon said...

Jeremy had to call a job yesterday on account of in-climate weather. The wind was so high that tree branches were falling all over the place and while he was on the phone with the boss lady one fell and smacked the truck. He did not think that mowing in that was a smart idea.

And we are in Oregon where the weather is nothing like what they get there.

Deb said...

Shannon - We have friends in Portland (I've mentioned before I think) and you all get some pretty fierce winds out there.

Shannon said...

Oh yes we do. Sometimes it freaks me out.

Lisa said...

Oooh, I found a fun site! It does searches for keywords that could turn up embarrassing things from everyone who has their Facebook set to Everyone or whatever. Basically, if you put it out there publicly, they'll find it. You can refresh for new searches...some are hilarious!

This guys killed me. He can't even spell the name of the state he lives in, yet he feels cheated because he's not graduating? Lol, Jill, I blame you (and congrats on it being almost over!). :-D

Lisa said...

Deb, I'm going to feel pretty bad if it is since I blamed her.

twirldawg said...

AP I can't claim that kid as mine!

Holy crap, I give one more exam tomorrow and then I'm done. I'm so bored right now. I just need to pack next week.

Deb said...

Thanks a lot AP, I went to youropenbook and guess what search popped up randomly?

"Having a wank"

Good gawd. Seriously, people facebook that stuff?

Deb said...

AP, my curiosity got the best of me Jill, that kid went to Green Valley High School, wherever in Georgia that is!

Deb said...

killed it with the wankers.

Angie said...

LOL re "killed it with the wankers"!

I went home at lunch and thought of you ladies as I was cleaning mushrooms with a damp paper towel LIKE YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO. :-) Robin, wasn't it you who made PW's stuffed mushrooms? I made those at lunch today, except for the baking, and am serving to my friend who is coming over for drinks tonight.

twirldawg said...

LMAO Deb.

Remember, I teach an elective. If they can't read or write I'm not responsible (kidding, kidding)

I was told last year that it was not my job to prepare my students for the real world, I was just to make sure that they mastered the objectives.

Angie said...

Also making the olive cheese bread you turned me on to, Robin. You ladies are definitely broadening my cooking horizon - thank you!!

Angie said...

Wow, Jill, that's sad. It's the real world, not the objectives, that kicks you in the ass, out here in the real world.

Lisa said...

I'm sorry I've not gotten the wanker selection yet. I'm finding this one entertaining, though - "My DUI".

http://youropenbook.org/?q=%22my%20dui%22

SW, all you're doing is smearing the shit around on the mushroom with that damp paper towel.

Deb said...

SW - sorry, I still rinse them off with a little running water, I don't want to chew on the dirt.

Angie said...

LOL AP! I am not giving in to peer pressure on the mushrooms. Just won't be serving them at the Daisy meetup, is all.

Anonymous said...

AP - I love that site, youropenbook. I'm having fun with it right now :-D

Lisa said...

Ohhh, the most stupid one yet - "my new phone number is". http://youropenbook.org/?q=my%20new%20phone%20number%20is

Deb said...

AP - LOL! Idiots.

Off for a bit, talk with you all later!

Angie said...

Not that this issue is bothering me or anything, but this website says that commercially available mushrooms are grown in a sterile medium. Which I think rules out shit, AP. http://homecooking.about.com/od/howtocookvegetables/a/cleanmushrooms.htm

Robin in Montana said...

SW - I have not made her stuffed mushroom recipe, no. Let us know how they turn out!

I wash my mushrooms, without shame. :-)

Anonymous said...

<--- washes mushrooms too. I need my food to be clean ;-D

Angie said...

Robin, I would have sworn it was you. Okay, which one of the daisies made PW's brie-stuffed mushrooms? Out yourself, dang it!

Lisa said...

Ahhh, SW, but what was that "sterile medium" before they sterilized it? I'm not convinced yet. Maybe we could have some ice cold reclaimed water to go with them? :-D

Annnnnnd, my hot water heater just flooded my utility room. Lovely.

Robin in Montana said...

SW - They look awfully good. I saw a recipe somewhere today for brie that had a wheel of it cut in half, a mixture of apricot preserves and jalapenos spread on it, sprinkled with chopped pecans, then the wheel put back together, topped with more preserve mixture and more pecans and baked until melt-y and served with baguette crisps. Yum!

Robin in Montana said...

Oh, crap, AP! How'd *that happen?!

Shannon said...

AP it is time to toss everything in the utility room and start new.

Angie said...

AP, effing utility room has been a bear lately! Mom would say you need to start looking for a Jonah.

Robin, my favorite baked brie recipe is kahlua, pecan pieces, brown sugar and vanilla on top of a brie round baked until it starts to soften. So freaking easy and so good! When I made it for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary a few years ago I transported the kahlua to a different container so my folks wouldn't know there is alcohol in it recipe. Shhhh!

Robin in Montana said...

::writing a letter to SW's parents so they know just what kind of deceiver they have in their midst:::

Would you mind posting that recipe? I've not met a brie recipe I didn't like.

Margo said...

Force feeding your folks alcohol SW - nice!

KaytieJ said...

I like wrapping the brie in crescent roll dough or phyllo dough, backing it and then serving it with different jellies - like jalapeño/mint - and chutneys and serve it with baguettes, toasted or fresh.

AP - Water is not your element. Dang!

KaytieJ said...

Shannon - We just had a black cloud deluge of hail come through. Limbs are still scattered from yesterday.

Shannon said...

YIKES!!!! Kaytie that kinda scares me cause 1/2 of my household is driving up towards Olympia tomorrow. Hopefully things calm down by then.

. said...

AP-That sounds like a hilarious site! I'll have to check it out.

I'm hungry. Anyone have a great idea for lunch? I think I might make an artichoke.

KaytieJ said...

So get this, I drive all the way down there, and the project is already done!

"Didn't you get the message?" ::Big goofy grin::
"No" ::Glaring my most fierce glare::
"Are you going to clock-in?" ::Worried about budget?::
"No...you are going to buy me breakfast"

Had a lovely croissant, egg, sausage, cheese breakfast sandwich and chat. Came home and took a nap. Perfect day :-D

Angie said...

Robin, just posted it on the recipe thread. Kaytie, I've never wrapped a brie in pastry. Need to try that! Are you back from IT duty already?

Margaret, I know, I'm bad, right? Serves them right for imposing strict prohibition for 53 years!

Angie said...

Nevermind, Kaytie, you answered my question! Sounds like you were a good sport about it.

Lisa said...

I *think my hot water heater just needs drained and flushed. God, I hope that's all it needs. While the handyman is here, he's also going to put a new kitchen light up for me over my sink...I may as well get all the mileage I can out of this visit. From there he moves on to my mom, whose kitchen and bathroom sinks are plugging hard and tight. It's always freaking *something.

And now I want an artichoke.

KaytieJ said...

SW - You little devil. I love it!

Try the wrapped brie, delish! You don't really need bread along side it, I just love bread. And with all different types and colors of spreads, jellies, the whole package plates up pretty.

KaytieJ said...

Starting internets rumor

Debs off Wanking :-D

KaytieJ said...

Shannon - Haven't seen the weather tomorrow.
Another big black cloud is over the front yard and it is hailing/raining. The backyard is sunshine. Really weird.

Lisa said...

Kaytie, 2012 is coming...that's what the weird weather is all about. Earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes...

KaytieJ said...

AP - It really sounds like you need a new water heater. Hope the flush and drain works, but after our great room flood and all the damage, I'd say just yank it.

KaytieJ said...

AP - The thought of 2012 makes me, for the moment, want to get drunk and stay drunk. <----awesome coping skills here regarding doomsday

Shannon said...

Hey dont talk about earthquakes either dammit!!! I have become addicted to the USGS earthquake site and keep freaking at all the 5+ ones that keep happening all over the place LOL

Lisa said...

I'm telling y'all, we ought not discount the 2012 thing. The Mayans surely did figure out a lot of other things they ought not have, by rights.

Kaytie, the water heater heats fine but has never been cleaned out. I really don't want the expense of a new one if I can avoid it. Ugh.

. said...

If I pick the lilacs hanging over my fence from my neighbors bush, it is stealing?

KaytieJ said...

Tara - Don't know the official rules, but I would say not. Same with a fruit tree, if it lands in your yard, why not? I would go ask the neighbor, though, just to be polite and keep the peace.

All my lilac bushes are in full bloom - I'd happily share.

Angie said...

Tara, I don't think it is stealing at all. It's like if your neighbor's fruit tree branches hang over your yard, it's your fruit if it's in your yard. Just like if their branch falls in your yard, it's your branch to clean up.

. said...

Well, he actually totally ignores his yard. He has all these beautiful things growing and doesn't tend to them, so I'm guessing he probably wouldn't care.
I took some and they're in a old glass milk jug on my dining room table, They smell divine!

Angie said...

I wouldn't ask the neighbor. But I'm not a good neighbor like Kaytie!

Shannon said...

Tara the smell of fresh lilac is SOOOOOO good. I would have had to snag some myself.

. said...

I don't feel so bad because they look so beautiful.

You are really appreciated here!!

So I was at home for 2 days while my hubs cared for Chris, and I had a cool bird story of my own during the time I was at home. Wait til you see the pics, AP.......the little bird babies were sooo sweet.

Chris is doing good, kind of stressing about money and his lack of progress in therapy- both of which I have been trying to encourage him about. He knows he'll be getting his SSDI money starting in July, so I have tried to remind him over and over that missing ONE payment on things is not going to get him evicted/turn the power off/etc. I keep telling him people were kind enough to pay all his expenses for may, the least he can do
is f'ing enjoy the peace of mind! And his new, more aggressive OT/PT...I think he expected results after just a few sessions...and of course that isn't happening. Last night he was soo down...asked me "what if I'm like this forever?" so I said "what if you are??". Told him people with much more severe physical challenges live full & fullfilling lives. I won't get into the litany of woe-is-me excuses he had, but suffice it to say, the very SECOND his SSDI kicks in.......I am getting the boy a therapist. For the brain, not the body.

So he is having a rough few days, but he'll get over it I hope. Tomorrow I'm going to make his favorite dinner and rent one of his all time faves (priscilla queen of the desert) from blockbuster......am hoping it will cheer him up a bit.

I don't know if this was pointed out...I'm sure it was but I'll mention just in case. Saw lots of you mention how Kelly Preston is kinda sorta possibly off her rocker for getting knocked up at almost 50. I just wanted to mention that the family statement said they are "expecting an addition".......which could mean a 25yr old at the height of health is actually gestating the wee one. Just a thought.

My instinct is too like KP & JP.......but, worshipping a giant space alien cuz "some dude said so"?? Oh and by the way, gimmefiftypercent of your income!!! Yeah ok then. I just don't see how rational, educated, compassionate people "go for" the Scientology bit.

Urgh..."is TO like"

Not "is too like". God forbid anyone think I'm a scientology sympathizer based on that stupid extra "o"!

Oh, and I also hear we've got a trip down birth canal town to celebrate!!

Not US so much as Mulie's baby.

But you get the idea.

Go Mulie!! GO baby Mulie!! If you feel like the walls are closin' in......just come on down. Literally!!=)

did i miss anything? i am so tired. pt wears me out too!

Lisa said...

Wait. Mulie's having Muliette right now? Really?

Lol, I'm glad you stipulated we don't *all have to make that trip down birth canal town.

Tell Chris I missed him, too. I really did, I thought about him so much and wondered how his goofy ass was doing. You, too! Not in a Courtney Love on acid way...more like Lenny Kravitz on weed way. *nods* And tell him I second the motion of "so what" if hew is like this forever. I dated someone with cerebral palsy once and he was even male. It was handy, it made him easier to find in a crowd so Chris needs to know it's all going to be okay if he's never back to normal, whatever normal is for any of us. It's all about perspective. Everyone has faults and flaws, everyone is damaged in some way. And I'll hush now. ;-)

Ok so I am in the boat with AP now....Mulie is having a baby now???

Elisabeth - I'll say some special prayers for Chris. It must be so hard to be in his skin when life around him goes on. Have you asked his PT/OT about any groups he may be eligible for? It's so helpful for patients to be able to connect with other people who have been through or are going through the same thing. Maybe even another patient that the PT/OT is working with that can talk on the phone with Chris.

And I just stuck a popsicle in my mouth and pulled about 3 layers of skin off my bottom lip!

What, Mulie is having her baby?

Deb said...

Kaytie - Thanks a lot! Seriously, did you even see some of those comments on that site? Who statuses that crap! And Lord, the places they were doing it - eewwwww!

That site is like texts from last night. It's hilarious and sad all at the same time.

No baby, but it's safe to have the baby now because she is head down! We had some tornado action here tonight!

Muliebrity said...

where'd ya'll go?

Muliebrity said...

I could be crowning right now for as much as you Daisies care....

twirldawg said...

Mulie everyone is running around boiling water and getting rags for the birth.

"I don't know nothin' bout birthin' no babies!"

Margo said...

Whew - I thought Mulie was birthing without us. Do you think you can skype it so we can all see :) Seriously, I'm SO happy she is head down!!!

Deb said...

Mulie - yay for head down! I was looking for a drink, I've never delivered a baby.

So, I went to get my hair all done up, went to swim lessons to rescue little one from husband so she didn't have to sit for 45 mins. He said "there is a Mexican pizza from Taco Bell on the dining room table for you". Great, since I was starving.

I get home, look on the table - no mexican pizza. I look on the kitchen counter. Zip. I look back at the table and I see a taco wrapper with mysterious little rip mark in it.

Then I look at the dog. And her ears go flat back. BUSTED.

Look on the floor, there is the mexican pizza box, half in the bag, empty. Turns out there *was a taco too. My husband left one of the chairs out just enough for that little shit to jump up on the table and eat everything.

I told him *he was getting up all night with her to go out!

Deb said...

Mulie - wait, you had tornado action today? What happened?

Deb said...

alright, looks like I missed everyone....goodnight!

PJ said...

Deb,
Love your dog story - esp "and her ears go flat back....""

Lisa said...

CK, hi!

No Muliette? Elisabeth, that just wasn't funny. I was off tearing rags up and sharpening my long-handled gardening shears 'cause that umbilical cord? I'm staying waaaaaaaaaaaaay away from that thing in case I have to cut it.

There's gonna be dog puke at Deb's tonight!

PJ said...

Hi AP,

Deb, I've seen *that look on CKanine too.

Recalling a few of those times:
1/2 lb of summer sausage (he only weighs 10 lbs himself)

Package of Ramen (opened the plastic, the cardboard, the styro cup - ate the chicken flavor packet and left the noodles)

Tootsie rolls (wrappers and all)

Pack of Bubblelicious gum (chewed it through daughter's winter coat pocket)

We had a cat that ate the head off of a lamb cake one easter. He very carefull took the foil cover off and decaptiated the poor thing.

Night - lots of hours in the sun makes one tired.

Muliebrity said...

We had a tornado on the ground in town, but it was back up into the clouds when it went over us. So we just saw rotation and then it dropped back down about half a mile away. My poor boy was so upset and scared!

Lisa said...

Holy shit, Mulie! Is he doing better now?

Anonymous said...

Tornadoes scare me :( Very creepy, Mulie!

Muliebrity said...

He's probably scarred for life, but I blame that on the stupid Wonder Pets save a cow that got stuck in tree after a cartoon "Twister" moved it there.

Muliebrity said...

::::not scared of tornadoes:::

Lisa said...

Mulie, really, you aren't scared of them?

Muliebrity said...

Nah. Have grown up in Tornado Alley and while it gets stressful if there is bad weather, I enjoy observing the nasty weather. I am running up the stairs while everyone else is running down.

Muliebrity said...

If it's gonna hit, it's gonna hit. We've had so many close missing traveling too. We've taken shelter under a bank over hang and gotten back on the road to find 10 miles of billboards down and tipped over tractor trailers. We find it fun, as long as we know what's going on.

Lisa said...

Okay, that makes sense. That's how we are with hurricanes. Once the prep is over, it's fun as hell and we get out in them, holding onto trees and shit so we don't get blown away. We have no fear of them at all. I've only experienced one tornado firsthand...a very small one that touched down maybe 300' in front of me. It scared the crap out of me.

KaytieJ said...

Holy drum roll! I thought Mulie was birthing, not tornado dancing!

Ok, I suck.

I should NOT have mentioned "the trip down birth canal way".......without clarifying that I was only referring to the baby turning to the right position!! I'm SORRY!!

Chris thanks everyone for the good wishes. He does want to go to the stroke support group but right now his OT is the one afternoon a week that the group is. This coming week he has a scheduling appt and we are going to try and move his OT to one the days he has PT, just make it one long appt.

I am hoping the night of mindless humor & favorite food tomorrow night will really help him feel a bit better. G'nite ladies=)
