Have some soup with a side of FYI...

I can't believe I'm posting a Guy FieTi video, as he gets on my very. last. nerve. but the fact is, this is some good soup!  It looks and sounds odd, but trust me, it's sooo good and with Fall around the corner, I thought I'd share.  The recipe I used will be below it.  :-)

I used this recipe:  http://www.keyingredient.com/recipes/150146/triple-d-cheeseburger-soup/ but I added some liquid smoke and also used canned evaporated milk instead of the half & half, since that's what I had on hand and didn't want to make a trip out. It worked just fine!  I served it with garlic toast but toasted hamburger buns with garlic butter and maybe a few pickle chips would be a cuter substitute.  So, there you go...a fun recipe to make when you're sick of the same ol' thing all the time.

Now, the FYI?  It's just a small one. This place is just dead, so this will probably be the last post here, at least for a long time, unless it somehow picks up.  If any of y'all want me to start a topic with something you want to discuss, email me and let me know at anemonepie at yahoo dot com.  Also, if any of y'all are hanging out someplace fun, please share so those of us who miss "chatting" with a variety of people can stop by and visit.  Thanks!  :-)

Hey, Jill. :-) I miss a good snarkfest and keep eyeballing the GOMI forum but ehhh, I don't know. While big news on her still interests me, I'm over the whole day-to-day MckMama thing and would like a place with a good variety of topics to discuss and debate, not just bloggers. Hopefully someone has an idea.

Nah, that's long dead and gone.

Anon, I may wind up hanging around GOMI more and seeing how it goes. Do we know you and you're just being all shy? ;-)

Crap: It's me, Julia. I forgot to sign my post. GOMI cracks me up. I don't post there, I just lurk, but most of the posters are hysterical, and they really have a good eye for outing bullshit.

Kate, hello! It's awfully good to see you...how've you been? :-)

Okay, in fairness here, that blog is to *support Rhys and her family and seems to contain facts the author, has been given by Rhys' family. There's nothing bad or ugly about the blog, plus it's fairly obvious the author and Rhys aren't the ones posting it here and on BWOP. I'm not so sure what drama there is to even stir up here. *shrugs* A family is in trouble, they've asked for help, and we can each help or not as we see fit and feel is justified. End of story. No, actually, the real end of the story is that there's a beautiful little girlie who is doing much better now.

Interesting point on the treatment of this disease:
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001555.htm

http://www.happinessonline.org/LoveAndHelpChildren/p5.htm

And interesting that these children often miraculously get better when removed from the home. Either way glad to see Rhy's baby is all of sudden cured from a terminal disease.

Wonder how much money she's raked in over the years (and continues to beg for), don't you?

Anonymous said...

Funny how that works. As much as we internets tried, no one understands the mysterious illness. Mother keeps insisting it is really bad, that doctors just don't get it or take her seriously.

Mother collects a lot of money in donations in a few years.

Child gets better and removed from house around the same time.

Mother's hand is still out.

Maybe the cure was being out of mother's "care"? Maybe this is what the authorities believed. They don't take a child away on a whim that's for sure.

Hey ladies...been a busy girl the last few weeks so have been very absent as well.

Lisa first I am going to have to try that soup...after all you know me and my love of soup LOL

Secondly...regarding Rhys and Lia. There is not a lot of information out there to actually even know what is going on. It looks as if Lia is doing AfreakingMAZINGLY!!!! In all the time I have known Rhys I have never seen her ask for anything other then thoughts and prayers, and not even for herself or even just for Lia but for all of them. This is a family in trouble like Lisa said and people can choose to donate or not donate, it is up to that person. But really to try to pot stir with so little information, and trying to do it in every single forum you can find....I'm sorry but that just seems to diminish that a beautiful little girl may have come to the end of a nightmare.....an end I dont think anyone was expecting to see and no matter what that is amazing. Hell I dont even believe in miracles but maybe this really is one.

I'd add me some Bacon to that soup. Delish!

Lisa - have not posted in a long time. My Lleggs were too tattered. Tried them on and I looked like Spidey Girl.

Lisa said...

Bacon would be awesome in the soup! Not too much, though, or it might cover up the cheeseburger flavor. Maybe sprinkle some on top? Shannon, I love soups, too, and am always looking for good recipes for them. I've also made this and it's very good! http://www.food.com/recipe/chicken-pot-pie-soup-125478 Seems like I may have given you this one once before, though.

Hope everyone is having a good Labor Day. Jake turned 21 yesterday and spent the night with friends. No bad phone calls happened, so I'm assuming he's still alive and unjailed today. ;-)

Ok: that soup sounds freaking delicious, but I try to keep my soups relatively healthy. You might as well just eat donut soup, which would be equally as delicious if you ask me.
Wonder if it would be good if you subbed lower calorie stuff? Light velveeta, less butter, etc?

StringOfRandomLetters said...

You could use evaporated skim milk instead of half and half or whole evaporated. It's a start :-) I use evap skim in my wild rice soup and it's just as creamy as the whole-fat version.

StringOfRandomLetters said...

Of course, I put string in mine too :-D

Lisa said...

No sting allowed unless it's udon soup, in which case you could probably slip some string in and no one would notice. ;-)

Julia, I see no reason you couldn't lighten that recipe up a lot and keep the flavor. If it seems too thin, up the flour slurry or add a little dissolved cornstarch. That ought to do the trick. It really is good for something different and a fun soup for company, too. I also have a curried pumpkin soup that is amazing and definitely able to go light, as I've done both versions. I do the lighter one in the summer, heavier in cold weather. If it sounds like something your family would like, I'll post the recipe.

Shannon said...

Julia you could even add instant potato flakes to it to help thicken it up as well. I have actually used the cheesy instant potatoes before in a soup and it was amazing.

Lisa said...

Now I'm confused as to which recipe Julia was referring to, but Shannon is right about instant potato flakes being good for thickening. Or eating. I could probably live on instant mashed 'taters.

Anyone reading on MWOP? Things are sounding touchy over there and I hate that. Anja surely does have her hands full, though.

Anonymous said...

MWOP is going nuts again. People need to just calm down a bit. Any time new rules are enforced, people flip out. It will calm down. The good news is Barb will be getting plenty of screen shots.
The thought of instant potato flakes makes me want to hurl.

What's happening to Lia's family makes me so mad. We need a parental right's amendment.

www.parentalrights.org

Nobody has the right to tell parents how to raise a child, to question abuse, etc because they don't agree with decisions made by the parents. And this case doesn't make sense. If there was any cause for concern where abuse was suspected it would have been caught in one of the many hospitalizations Lia's had, or the hundreds of home visits by various agencies!

**Rhys if you see this, they may be able to help you:

http://parentalrights.org/index.asp?SEC={BA469634-08FA-416B-980B-293E665F44FD}&Type=B_BASIC

My prayers are with your family and I'm so happy to hear about Lia's turn-around!

Lisa said...

Anon, while I agree about the need for greater parental rights, these two sections right here provide loopholes to provide government agencies pretty much as much power as they currently have or want. Imo, it looks good on paper, but it's useless.

"SECTION 2

Neither the United States nor any state shall infringe this right without demonstrating that its governmental interest as applied to the person is of the highest order and not otherwise served.

SECTION 3

This article shall not be construed to apply to a parental action or decision that would end life."

I honestly can't see how this would have helped Rhys' family at all.

I don't know Ryhs at all and I don't know her story. All I can say is if something were amiss, and the local government weren't investigating, people would be crying foul over that.
If the family is truly being persecuted, then I definitely feel badly for them, but I would say nobody knows the facts of the case, so I'd be hesistant to say an investigation isn't warranted. It all sounds a bit suspect to me, only reading the few things I've read. I wish the family the best, and hopefully they are found to be completely blameless.

Civil conversation, huh? If people are questioning Rhys they're below scratching the rock bottom of any barrel.

And MWoP still exists too? :: Shudders ::

It answered my question. Nothing's new. Viciousness is alive & well.

(But thanks for asking. Yes, I'm really ok. You?)

Lisa said...

Lol, yep, MWOP is still around.

You know, I'm about to put on my "fair and impartial" hat for a moment about Rhys, 'k? I like Rhys. We've had a few little differences, or maybe to be more fair, *I had the differences but nonetheless, I like her. I also have never, ever, not once seen evidence of her being anything but a loving and caring mom. As a result, my mind does not wrap well around the idea that she could have been anything less than truthful to us or acted anything but responsibly toward either or both of her kids. Seriously, my mind just doesn't accept that idea well at all and I *choose to not believe it. But, a lot of people around here, me among them, have trusted and believed in others, only to realize we were scammed and lied to. Even outside of the whole OHIH/Daisy/BWOP/MWOP/whatever crowd, we've seen and heard of it happening. As a result, I honestly cannot blame anyone who looks at what little is being said and what little we know about this situation and has some big doubts or concerns. I can't even call it scratching the bottom of the barrel so much as simply being more cynical, more careful and logical, based on their past experiences online and common occurrence. I've not read anything uncivil or vicious said about her here, Kate...I'm just reading mostly politely and carefully-expressed doubts and concerns. Truth be told, were it a lot of other people other than Rhys, I'd be one of the biggest cynics going right now about the situation.

And that aside, I'm good. Thanks. :-)

Anonymous said...

Lisa:
I agree completely about being cynical. I barely believe anything I read online, because 9 times out of 10, it turns out to be bullshit! Just from Mckmama forums alone, I've seen at least 10 people who are fake, with fake sick stories, or fake children, etc.
I don't know Ryhs at all, and I don't remember her from OHIH, because I wasn't that involved, but it would not shock me in the least if some crazy shit were going down there. No offense to Rhys, just in general, it doesn't shock me.
I'm not sure what Kate meant..I think it's perfectly normal to be skeptical of tall tales, and a miracle cure for a child who's been sick for years, seems a tall order.

Seriously, my mind just doesn't accept that idea well at all and I *choose to not believe it.
Yep.

"I can't even call it scratching the bottom of the barrel so much as simply being more cynical, more careful and logical, based on their past experiences online
Nah. I'm as cynical as they come, but that it's even being used as a topic for discussion is ridiculous. Do as Shannon said: Donate or leave it. But don't try to stirr extra drama shit.

"Truth be told, were it a lot of other people other than Rhys, I'd be one of the biggest cynics going right now about the situation."
Let's! There's got to be actual drama somewhere. Honey boo boo anyone?

kate said...

Julia,

Really sorry about the crap that happened to you last week. While we never see eye to eye on mommy-stuff, I'm confident that you don't experience a lot of amputations. I'm sorry you had to go through that.

"I'm not sure what Kate meant..I think it's perfectly normal to be skeptical of tall tales"
I meant that from what I've read of Rhys in her own words... there are no tall tales. She reached out to a former college buddy. Or maybe some of it was a lie. But she hasn't exactly been knocking down doors. Donate or save your cash, but don't use it as drama stirring; don't call it 'tall tales', 'suspect', etc. (Not entirely directed at you, just explaining my thoughts.)

Lisa said...

And, in theory, I agree, particularly since you don't know her. There's no reason it should shock you. I do think it would shock people who have known her, at least initially. Granted, the shock may range from, "What the hell...goes to show can't trust anyone online, I guess" to people who may actually take it to heart and hurt over it, feel violated by it. For the record, those people need to buck up, but that's neither here nor there right now. My point is, I think most people lose some of that skepticism and cynicism the longer they "know" someone and get attached to them in any manner. That leaves a person more susceptible to being shocked.

":: Sigh ::"

Are we a burden on you, Kate? ;-)

"if something were amiss, and the local government weren't investigating, people would be crying foul over that.
No. Simply not possible."

Of course it's possible. Why would you think it isn't?

"It's the argument they used for witch burning back in the day, I believe."

Kate, for goodness' sake, being suspect is a far cry from burning someone at the stake. Being suspect means you don't donate, even if you can. And, honestly, it can mean discussing the situation and suspicions in the same venue the person themselves put their life into. That's all.

"Nah. I'm as cynical as they come, but that it's even being used as a topic for discussion is ridiculous. Do as Shannon said: Donate or leave it. But don't try to stirr extra drama shit."

I don't think that's what anyone except for the initial person who posted that blog like here is doing. *That was drama-stirring but it happened and if we try to just dismiss something we've learned that is quite unusual, and it appears this situation is, it's going to cause a lot of people who are already cynical to think Rhys has something to hide. Like it or not, that's human nature. Far better it's discussed openly, questions answered honestly, and then everything put in its rightful place and to rest.

"Let's! There's got to be actual drama somewhere. Honey boo boo anyone?"

Let's what? *eyes Kate* And I love that stupid show!

"But she hasn't exactly been knocking down doors. Donate or save your cash, but don't use it as drama stirring; don't call it 'tall tales', 'suspect', etc. (Not entirely directed at you, just explaining my thoughts.)"

I agree, she hasn't done so and I do believe that speaks volumes. We aren't seeing donation buttons strung across the internet, public donation pages or anything of the sort. If it was a scam for money, we'd be seeing more. That said, Rhys aside and speaking in general terms, I still agree with Julia about the overall cynicism of a lot of people who have fallen victim to "tall tales" from others online and, as a result, tend to look at people with vision colored by that experience now. I'm not saying it's right or wrong to do so, only that it happens a lot and sometimes, innocent people wind up being in that viewfinder. It's the risk we all take when we have a presence on the internet, I suppose.

kate said...

Are we a burden on you, Kate? ;-)
Why, yes. That's exactly what I wanted to express. /sarcasm

"Of course it's possible. Why would you think it isn't?"
Because if something were amiss and the government weren't investigating, nobody'd know about it in the first place.

"Kate, for goodness' sake, being suspect is a far cry from burning someone at the stake.

I've told that story a few times aleady, I think.

Board I belong to somehow got wind of the Stansels (while making fun of the Gosselins back then). They are so awesomely disgusting, that their thread accumulated 1000+ pages quickly.
So we were onto mommy-reality-famewhores. Brianna came up, which let to JM.

The original board-thread actually got closed down due to legal reasons, so I had to resort to google whenever I wanted to catch up with the awesome awfulness of those mommy bloggers. JM was easiest to remember & google. When MWoP ranked so high on google search I started reading that.

Then BWoP, etc.

"tend to need complete sentences."
Ouch. I heard that and will try to not let it happen again.

"Okay, I did. I still stand by what I said."
If happily admitting ignorance on a subject while going all in with 'that's suspect' isn't what lead to somebody being burned at the stake, I might not remember my history very well.

kate said...

So, honey boo boo... thoughts?

Lisa said...

"I've told that story a few times aleady, I think."

I'd never read it, so thanks for repeating it. It always interests me how people wind up in the same place together.

"Ouch. I heard that and will try to not let it happen again."

No ouch intended. I didn't get it, obviously, and most people probably did. Just being factual here, I tend to need complete sentences or at least more than one word. You don't have to change, but expect me to need to some clarification from time to time.

"If happily admitting ignorance on a subject while going all in with 'that's suspect' isn't what lead to somebody being burned at the stake, I might not remember my history very well."

Perhaps you give more strength to the word "suspect" than Julia does, or than I do. I have trouble imagining a group pf people sitting around a kitchen table lit by lard candles, discussing the next dunk nominee, tapping their fingers and saying, "Well, that's suspect...let's kill her!" and then adding them to the list. I think the conversation probably went further, reaching the point someone said, "By God, there's nothing suspect about THAT! She's a witch! Let's kill her!" Finding the person suspect is simply what got the conversation started. Of course, your imagined version of the conversation and lighting features may vary from mine. :-)

"So, honey boo boo... thoughts?

One of the funniest, cutest, and weirdly most wholesome shows on TV right now off the religious channels. My only real concern is that it's going to reinforce stereotypes that all Southern people are like this family, which is far from the truth. I'd like to know what Sugar Bear does for a living, though. What do you think?

Anonymous said...

Should I explain why it's suspect to me? Not knowing Rhys at all: I view it as a news story I would hear. "Very sick child, near death most of her life, suddenly cured, without explanation. "
Now, I am not religious at all, and do not "believe" in miracles. I believe in fact, and evidence based information, including medicine. I can think of no such case of a very sick child who is essentially undiagnosed, suddenly perfectly healthy. To me, it's suspect.
I am absolutely not judging Rhys or her specific situation. I hope there is no reason for me to be suspect. I am certainly not intending to stir up drama. I don't even mind that someone is asking for donations for her. If she needs help, by all means, her friends should help her.
I'm just saying I only believe about half of what I hear, and this story sounds strange to me.

I have to say that I was terrified when Lia's Caring Bridge disappeared. I followed little Lia's story for almost three years - and seeing as things had been getting progressively more serious, I truly feared for the worst. I just don't understand why the need to wipe out any traces of their story on the internet? If there is nothing more to the story than a little girl who miraculously got well, then all of those writings (and Rhys is a beautiful writer) are just testimony to the love and care of Lia's family, her Doctors and the many internet strangers like me who prayed for her. I admit, I can't quite get a nagging feeling out of my mind - I've been burned by more than one internet story and I hope that all is truly well here. Anyone got any thoughts they could share with me that would ease my anxiety about the situation?

I am randomly sad about the Lia commentary.

I am so glad to hear Lia is doing better.

I personally do not suspect her mom of anything.

I guess I can understand why some would. But I don't.

Odd that no one ever really seemed to know what disease the child had, no? Odder yet, that she's not with the mom and went from death and hospice to cured!

I've never known anyone who had to hire TWO lawyers that they couldn't afford for one case. Most folks get one, no?

I would hope Rhys wouldn't avoid this forum because of me. She's been here a lot longer than me, and for that reason, I won't post about it anymore.
Again, I do not personally have any feelings toward Rhys' specific situation.
I'm just saying I could see how an internet story can be fake.

I doubt the powers that be would swoop in and take two kids away without compelling reasons to do so.

Odd that no one ever really seemed to know what disease the child had, no? Odder yet, that she's not with the mom and went from death and hospice to cured!

I've never known anyone who had to hire TWO lawyers that they couldn't afford for one case. Most folks get one, no?

I agree with String. Julia has been nothing but polite, making it clear she doesn't really know Rhys and would be suspect of any internet story that's a bit odd. And let's face it, it's odd. That's certainly not to say I think she could ever purposely hurt her kids, because I *do not* and I want nothing more than to see her family be able to be back together again. Still, it's odd. Hell, even Rhys would probably say it's odd. But Julia has said absolutely nothing wrong here and it's not really fair to make it seems as if she has.

Look, Rhys is a *very intelligent woman and was around for the whole Krista mess, probably remembers the whole April Rose thing and maybe some others. I don't for a minute believe she doesn't understand that people online, just in general and like Curious up there pointed out, are more cynical about stories and situations they read about, particularly those involving kids, when they don't have some type of personal relationship with the people in question. And that's okay, it's smart to be that way and it's not insulting to express some wariness over someone's unusual story when you don't know that person, after all. And, like I said, I believe Rhys does or will understand that and hope she will comment again, because I think the more she does and the more people who don't know her get to, the more comfortable they will feel about it all.

Curious, to answer your question, I really don't know anything that's not been posted or discussed here, either on this post or the last one. I'm sorry.

Can someone clue me in as to who the MWOP mole is? I know "discusting" is the key word that tipped everyone off and I know I've seen someone there use it, but who? Anyone know?

Anonymous said...

Lisa:It's a lady named Marlene, who used to post about her husbands death as if it were the same week, but apparently it was like 10 years ago or something? I don't remember the other user names she had.
I'm not sure if her name is really Marlene. I wouldn't exactly call her a mole, she reads on MWOP and then posts screenshots on BWOP. Anyone can do that.
She was always a bit loopy, and would have these long, drawn out sob stories and beg for attention. It's a bit strange to beg for attention on a snark site.
This whole Barb/Marlene/Tina saga just gets creepier by the minute
Julia

Lisa said...

Julia, thanks, I remember her. In fact, I think I have a link to her blog, still. I never did think she was a real person...I always thought "Marlene" was a character someone was playing. WHo knows if I'm right but that's so fun reading over at BWOP right now! Like a stroll down memory lane, all this talk of names being exposed. God knows Tina loves to do that. ;-)

Anonymous said...

I mostly lurk here, but wanted to chime in that I totally agree with Julia about the whole Barb/Marlene/Tina thing.

Something's not quite right with those people. Not saying that what happens at MWOP is cool, because often it's not. But still. BWOP is a crazy train.

And while we're on that subject, Tina/Lauren is screening comments big time over there. I've tried to point out, a few times now, that Barb wasn't banned on MWOP for defending LT, but she was banned for harassing a member on MWOP. Tina/Lauren has refused to post my comment every single time I've mentioned it.

Also, I'm not so sure that Marlene is the "mole." Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't one. Do you know how many times a poster on BWOP has made some kind of ridiculous comment along those lines and it wasn't true?

And I've seen a few people misspell disgusting. Now if the commenter writes, "Mcmama" then BINGO! That's Marlene...lol.

And Lisa, we cross posted...but I'm pretty sure Marlene is a real person. Which is sad...because if she is a real person, she has some real big issues. She and Barb could be besties.

Lisa said...

Good lord, yes, it's sad if she's real. I could kind of forgive someone truly that feeble a lot, you know?

I did think I saw that someone had a comment about why Barb was really banned. That wasn't you? Tina, though, she makes no bones about the fact she screens, last I knew. And hey, her blog, her right but it makes her less credible. I don't think credibility is what she's after, though...she's a pip. ;-)

"And hey, her blog, her right but it makes her less credible."

Oh hey Robin, I didn't mean to sound all righteous either. I wasn't trying to speak against you, just to speak up for Julia. I see several sides to the whole deal - I'm skeptical in general online too, but don't know more than a smidge about Rhys and Lia's situation. All I know is that little girl is adorable. And the best thing about this place is that nothing gets out of hand. Everyone seems to be able to get along or agree to disagree, and that includes you.
Can we all sing Kumbaya now?

If yes, I could sing Muskrat Love :-D

I appreciate Daisy very much for being able to talk of difficult subjects or frivolous things without it getting too bent out of shape. May get heated, feisty, snarky and bitchy, but rarely rip to shreds and go for the jugular.

Sorry to hear about your patients, Julia. That is hard.

Rhys is a very intelligent woman. I don't think she would expect everyone to just blindly not ask how things are going, what happened, what's going to happen. I am not in the know, nor do I want to speculate here as to what is going on. I wish them all well and hope it all gets resolved.

Lisa said...

Thank you, String and Kaytie, for making that stupid song stick in my head now. @@

Okay, so I just made some blog rounds and someone on BWOP is saying I screen comments here, that she's been trying to comment and I'm screening it. I've said before and I'll say again, I don't screen, I don't delete, nothing. Well, I *will delete if you break the simple rules to the upper right there but no one here has done so and I don't even know how to screen comments so, yeah...I'm confused as hell. I've even left it so a person can subscribe by email, which would offer up proof if I delete and deny it. So, whoever you are, I'm awfully sorry your comments aren't showing but I'm not screening you, I swear. Maybe try a different commenting method or something? I just don't know but it bugs me that people are trying and we can't see what they're saying. I feel like we're missing some potentially interesting stuff. :-/

"Okay, so I just made some blog rounds and someone on BWOP is saying I screen comments here, that she's been trying to comment and I'm screening it."

I answered that person over there but Tina screens my comments and it hasn't shown up yet and possibly never will.

Her comments show up in my reader. She posted the same couple comments several times over two days here. I guess she just isn't seeing them for some reason but they are here. At least, my reader is seeing them.

Yes, I can't wait to see the crazy on Barb's blog.

Anonymous said...

Lisa, it would be kind of hard for you to screen comments, when the comments here post immediately. Over at BWOP, Lauren/Tina has it on moderation, and she approves only what she wants to. Which is her perogative. However, I cannot understand why she allows what she allows, but then doesn't allow certain comments like, "Barb, you know that the LT situation had NOTHING to do with your banning from MWOP and isn't the harassment situation everybody else is talking about."

Barb's just as dishonest as JM. And I'm just going to be perfectly frank here...she appears to me, anyways, as a bit unstable.

Anyways, Lisa, I WAS able to get a comment through BWOP on why Barb was really banned, but had only mentioned that it was because she had harassed a MWOP member that had suffered abuse. Barb then turned around and brought up the whole LT thing, which had nothing to do with why she was banned.

But Lauren/Tina has blocked every attempt of mine to comment further on that situation. Which is interesting. It's almost like she's purposefully trying to cover for Barb.

Barb was entirely inappropriate that night she harassed the mwop poster. Which is why she was banned. The situation with LT was a different situation altogether and not for nothing, most of MWOP was defending LT.

It was very similar to this current Rhys situation, where folks online were simply questioning the veracity of an online story. And not for nothing, but I think that should be expected. LT's reaction was a bit overblow (if not entirely expected, given what she's gone through).

Anyways...the whole BWOP/MWOP/JM triangle has become quite the interesting soap opera! I can't wait for Barb's blog to be released either...I could use a good laugh!

--anonwithoutagoodnickname

P.S. Lisa, I totally agree with your comment regarding Marlene. If her story is real, than I can't really find myself getting angry with her, or holding her accountable for her behavior. Annoyed, yes. But I can't see myself getting up in arms over her behavior, given the details behind her story.

Lisa said...

Renae, and AWAGN (which you shall be forevermore, lol) thanks to you both for the comments about screening. If I tell that upfront. Renae, you said you can see her comments in Reader but can you see them by directly accessing this blog? I *think if someone posts a comment and then deletes it themselves, it will still show in Reader and in email comments

I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one excited about Barb's blog! I do agree that she comes across as unstable but not feeble, as Marlene does (if she's real). Barb is just darn good entertainment!

Oh, *shit. Renae. you said "spam" and I knew...I just knew. I always forget to check it since I have to change names and sure enough, there's a ton of scomments in there. Okay, I've read them all and have great regard for Curiouser's persistence, lol. :-D Again, sorry about that, Curiouser and anyone else. I have no idea why they showed up and disappeared once posted, but they were all sitting in the spam folder and to the best of my knowledge, I can't send something to the spam folder once it's posted so Blogger was up to some shenanigans, it seems. There was absolutely nothing in your comments that would have caused me to get rid of them and I don't see anything about them that should have caused Blogger to suspect them of being spam, either. If anyone has any ideas on how to prevent that, aside from me needing to be more on the ball, please speak up!

One thing I'll add is that I've never known of Rhys or her family to ask for money prior to this legal situation and I do believe I'd have heard had there been more.

Lisa said...

"Has anyone changed their minds for what party or party selected candidate they are going to vote for?"

Probably not. I was planning on writing Ron Paul in but I am giving some serious thought to Gary Johnson, instead. I couldn't and wouldn't vote for Romney or Obama if you paid me. I do think some people are influenced by all these ads, though, don't you?

KaytieJ said...

Not sure. That is why I asked. Guess for myself it helps me know who I WON'T vote for.

Lisa said...

I can agree with that! I do think some people who aren't very interested in politics and fail to grasp why it matters so much are swayed by the ads because it's really their only exposure to politics, you know? Although between Romney and Obama, for those people, I think the final decisions will be based on race and religious views this time.

StringOfRandomLetters said...

I was immunized against making decisions based on race and religious views, so that statement doesn't fit me. It may fit others though ... ?
All I know is it is amazing how masses of people will vote against their own best interests.

Lisa said...

String, it's because they don't know what their own best interests are andmany, as a default, to hedge their bets with God, will vote for the one most closely aligned with their own "religious" beliefs. And that often brings us full circle to a lot of Christians not knowing what is really in their own Bible and not realizing a lot of what they cast their vote *for isn't even what they think it is. Huh, did that make sense? I'm still groggy this morning.

I wondered about their language too. Though I wished I'd paid more attention to when they spoke that German dialect to notice if they actually spoke it or if they showed them "talking" with their backs turned or something.

The "frickin" and "like" and the censored language reminds me of some people who say their kids have Tourette's Syndrome and that's why they swear - so apparently those bad words just popped into their heads from nowhere. Because the parents *never* swear. Nope. Nope, they don't.

Lisa said...

We wondered about the swearing, too, but I brushed it off to the fact the Amish *do have some contact with the outside world, most of them, and figured the ones on the show picked it up there. Nah, Lisa, little old String doesn't have another name. I think I probably signed out in case I forgot myself and commented "over there" at the nuthouse. Where someone once used this name and it wasn't me.
I used to have a name on MWOP a couple of years ago. It was a string of random letters, hence this name :-P

StringOfRandomLetters said...

Over there, over there;
Send the word, send the word over there
That the yanks are comin', the yanks are comin'
The drums rum-tumming ev'rywhere.
So prepare, say a prayer,
Send the word, send the word to beware.
We'll be over, we're coming o-ver,
And we won't come back
'Til it's over over there!

Huh? Wha-aat?! You can tell it's meee?!

Howwww?

I only read sporadically, and so I guess I miss a lot.

But I tuned in to MWOP tonight...and I see...dissent?

It all seems so ridiculous to me that these fully grown women argue so endlessly about things that mean nothing to anyone. Seriously.

But I admit it's all damn entertaining when my husband is elsewhere and there's nothing I care to watch on TV...

I just "celebrated" my 50th b-day. How did this shit happen? But my honey threw me the best party ever. The theme was 1962. Friends and family came in period attire. It was fabulous!

I am a lucky gal. <3

StringOfRandomLetters said...

Happy Birthday to You :-)
You are Really Old :-))
(Not Really, J/K)
Happy 50th, Robin!

Robin said...

No, I am OLD. And I'm still trying to figure out when that happened. Ack.

But age is just a number, right? My meltdown happened a couple of weeks ago when I got my AARP card in the mail. I mean, REALLY? WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE WHO SEND OUT THESE *#$&#&&# CARDS?!??!

I don't feel "old." I don't look "old."

Therefore, I am NOT "old." ;)

Love me some compensatory logic!

StringOfRandomLetters said...

I get an AARP card every week or so.
--- ???????!!!????? ---

Nah, you aren't old.

Lisa said...

'Mortning, and happy belated birthday to you, Robin. I, too, will be 50 this year and am not a bit bothered by it except that I'm feeling I've accomplished so little in life compared to what I want to and I really should make some changes to correct that. Your party sounds like a blast! What sweet of your husband to do it...was it a surprise party?

String, obviously you must be really, really, really old if they send you multiple cards. :-D Also, since you're singing old war songs, do you know "Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree"? I like that one.

Don't know anything at all about any lawsuit involving Rhys, sorry. I also don't have any updates other than what anyone can find out. Hopefully they'll all be back together soon, though.

Happy late birthday Robin. I hit the big 4-0 this year. It cracks me up though because it is never the 'milestone' birthdays that get me. I had my first birthday/age related melt down when I hit 36 I think it was LOL no particular reason really it was just the year that I think I realized I was getting older HAHAHA

I have to wonder whatever happened to being able to be snarky on the internet without needing a lawyer :) I mean for real you put yourself out there, you tell things about yourself, you say shit about others, and then when people say shit about you you run off and threaten legal action? Really?? We all know that I have had my shit brought up before and there wasnt a single ounce of super sleuthing needed because *I was the one that put it out there....should I get a lawyer because of it? HAHAHAHA

StringOfRandomLetters said...

Shannon - just the reason you need a pocket lawyer.
Yes, Pocket Lawyer by Popeil!! And today we're having a special for the next thirty seconds, yes for the next thirty seconds you can have two, Two, TWO Pocket Lawyers for the price of ONE.
(plus shipping and handling totaling thirteen times the cost of said Pocket Lawyer. Subject to the outrageous conditions and terms in size 1.5 font at the bottom of this message which you will never read because you can't see them. No actual lawyers were harmed in the creation of this message.) <---read that last part really fast like an auctioneer on speed.

Don't sit unner da apple tree wit enyone else but me,
Enyone else but me, enyone else but me,
No no no, don't sit unner da apple tree wit enyone else but me,
Till I come marching home.

All sung whilst wagging my finger at youse and jumpin' around like the Andrews Sisters. All three of 'em. Actual sisters.

Shannon said...

LMAO String I think I will have to buy TWO of those offers. Seriously if it is a bogo then I may need to have four Popeil Lawyers!!!!

Lisa said...

Alright, what's the additional shipping and handling costs on all these lawyers? ;-) Am I the only one getting the feeling on MWOP that, for all the "I don't care!"s, a few there care very, very much that attorneys or such may get involved, their names may get out and are quite worried? I just don't get it. Why does anyone give a rat's ass if someone Googles them and their name comes up associated with MWOP, BWOP or any other perceived-to-be snark site? Am I missing something here?

String, didn't an Andrews sister just die? My folks had a bunch of albums of WWII era music when I was a kid and I grew up on that stuff. That and Benny Goodman. :-)

StringOfRandomLetters said...

Lisa, yes, if by "just" you mean October 21, 1995 :-)
According to the venerable Wikipedia, LaVerne and Maxene have passed, and Patty is still alive. (Patty's husband passed in 2010 though.)
They were born in Minnesota to a Greek father an' a Nor-weeeg-ian mudda, and they passed in age order (how orderly).
Apparently they had their own dramas, Patty having left the group without telling her sisters, who found out from a gossip column.
Then they had suicide attempts and fights over estates. Just like regular folks :-D

Now I'm kinda depressed. How 'bouts a chorus of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy?

He was a famous trumpet man from out Chicago way;
He had a boogie style that no one else could play.
He was the top man at his craft,
But then his number came up and he was gone with the draft.
He's in the army now, a-blowin' reveille;
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B.

A-toot, a-toot, a-toot-diddelyada-toot,
He blows it eight-to-the-bar, in boogie rhythm.
He can't blow a note unless the bass and guitar is playin' with 'im.
He makes the company jump when he plays reveille;
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B!

Delurking after reading MWOP and BWOP. It's sad to see how BWOP has progressed into a bully site itself. I'm not surenif anyone caught that someone posted Tina's name a few weeks ago. I think the poster said her name was Tina Lanclos Ward and then it got deleted. I Googled the name and saw familiar names of the kids she used to talk about before. You know, her grandchildren and all.

At least this site isnt dedicated to bashing anything butblife LOL

Lisa said...

Welcome, Anon 8:41, and I guess Daisy's more the porch a few people sit on to watch the fights and laugh at the ones fighting. Not that bashing is forbidden here, but ehhhh...people are a little less high strung around Daisy, I guess. And yep, that's our Tina. Her name has been pretty common knowledge for quite some time though, at least among a great big ol' handful of people. For the record, if any of her family members' names get posted, I'll delete them...that's not right or fair, imo. *looks all mean-faced at people* No clue where the "Lauren" comes from but the story seems to make her happy to use it, so hey, that's probably why I won't. ;-D Hope you stick around with us!

And now this tune from ... the Beatllllles!!!!!
Brought to you by Popeil Pocket Lawyers.

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away.
Now it looks as though they're here to stay.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Suddenly, I'm not half to man I used to be,
There's a shadow hanging over me.
Oh, yesterday came suddenly.

Why she had to go, I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday.

Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Mmmm-mmmm-mmm mmmm-mmm-mmm-mmmmmmmmm.

StringOfRandomLetters said...

Maybe that's the name she wished she had :-)
Like Caroline. I should be a Caroline. Don't ya think?

And nowwww, I'm layin' down a big batch of funtabulous Sesame Street beat:

Oh!
Rubber Ducky, you're the one!
You make bath time lots of fun!
Rubber Ducky,I'm awfully fond of you!
(bo-bo-bo-deo)

Rubber Ducky, joy of joy,
When I squeeze you, you make noise.
Rubber Ducky, you're my very best friend, it's true.

Ohhh, every day when I make my way to the tubby,
I find a little fella who's cute and yella
and chubby.
Rubba dubba dubby!

Rubber Ducky, you're so fine,
And I'm lucky that you're mine.
Rubber Ducky, I'm awfully fond of you.

ooh....
Every day when I make my way to the tubby,
I find a little fella who's cute and yella and chubby!
Rubba dubba dubby!

Rubber Ducky, you're so fine,
And I'm lucky that you're mine.
Rubber Ducky, I'm awfully fond of you!

Rubber Ducky, I'm awfully foooond ...
Of you!

Caroline, what he hell are you doing? Are you drinking?

"Brought to you by Popeil Pocket Lawyers."

And other assorted sex toys...

Lisa said...

And where is my t?

StringOfRandomLetters said...

Which t?

I'm not drinking, unless you count Diet Pepsi/Dr. Pepper/7up. I'm just sittin' on the porch havin' fun :-D

I thought the Rubber Ducky was a nice nod to what I saw "over there", even though I don't get the in-joke. Ooops, I feel a song comin' on :-))

StringOfRandomLetters said...

Thanks for the "Caroline" though :-) it is my current name of choice. You know, like "Lauren" is for Tina, apparently.

StringOfRandomLetters said...

Oh. *That t. Where are my glasses???

Sandy said...

Thanks Caroline. Now I'm singing Rubber Ducky and Sweet Caroline.

StringOfRandomLetters said...

My job here is done :-P

StringOfRandomLetters said...

Darn. Typo in "Yesterday". ::smh::

Lisa said...

Caroline, is it okay to admit I don't understand half the stuff you sing about? Because I don't. I enjoy it, but I think a lot of it goes over my head. :-D

Any new gossip in the world we all need to know about?

Lisa said...

Ha! I get the rubber ducky reference now...cute. On all parts. ;-)

Shannon said...

I am now with Sandy and have dueling rubber ducky and yesterday going on in my head? LOL

StringOfRandomLetters said...

My name is String and I have a problem. Whatever I'm reading about makes my brain think of a song that is related to the topic in some obscure way.
Quack reference=Rubber Ducky
Bwop is "over there" to me= Over There
I got all sads over the Andrews Sisters sad lives= Yesterday
And Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy was just to cheer up :-)
Sweet Caroline I will blame on Sandy, but I did resist posting the lyrics :-)) (it wasn't easy)

Don't worry Lisa, no one understands me :-D

Porch like and entertaining is a good description. I just don't get it when Tina says she's on vacation and carry on, I'm having a good life. what person can have a great life and still keep tabs on who says what where and when in MWOPblog.com? Who cares?!?!?! LOL and now when people Google Tina's name, they will know her as the owner of a bully blog - and it IS a bully blog! Girl has the hots for NieNie IMHO.

Lisa said...

Now, see, Caroline, when you explain it like that, it makes perfect sense. :-)

I can't think about Tina right now, Anon. I'm too rattled by the idea of anyone having the hots for NieNie...
