Alejandro and Chris' "friend in Kansas"...

First, the video.  No reason, I guess, except that I think it would be great fun if the Daisies could recreate it.  I'm not sure who should be Gaga though, since I know I'm not about to do it.

Now, I figured I'd put this on the forefront, just in case the lovely person in Kansas who sent Chris the HEB cards and Wii reads here.  Please look at the end of the last post, as there's a big problem with the gift cards that only you can help with...please contact Elisabeth.

That's about it.

Thanks for all of the good advice, AP. I soooo wish Chris had a 2 br instead of 1. Then my hubby & I could just move in with him and quit this "ships passing once a week" gig....AND I'd never sleep on that stew-pid couch again! Or I wish WE had a 2 br instead of 1.....then we could move him in with US!!

Re the lump sum......we can't adequately express how devastated we are. Unless some miracle happens, my parents are going to lose their house. I am sick just thinking about it. Yes, maybe my mom shouldn't have skipped a few mortgage pmts to pay for rehab and meds but she did what HAD to be done for him at the time. It just snowballed on her so badly.
Anyway, the SW and the ssdi rep said he's in a subset of ssdi that does not get the lump sum and it was an "oversight" that we were told ge would for all these months. They said when your monthly payment is over a certain amount, instead of getting a lump sum, it's added on to the payments for a pre determined amount of time. It sounds INSANE to us, we even called one of the social security lawyers in the phone book who basically said that Texas is SO bad, he's seen multiple amputees not get approved for ssdi the first time they apply, and we should feel very lucky he made it thru the first time even with the frustration over the lump sum.

I have not thought of writing to elected reps. But I am going to start. Tomorrow I will email every one I can find.

Thanks for posting re friend in Kansas. Lord, I hope she sees that.

Good morning ladies!

Jill - I am so sorry to hear about the job - I hope he can get his old one back - hopefully he left on good terms with them!

Elisabeth - I'm sorry for your troubles, but I like AP's suggestion of contacting your local reps. It is voting season in some areas!

Dark, drizzly day here so far, oh joy!

Good morning pot heads. I spent the morning chasing two huge french poodles who I didn't catch. They have tags on but they are on the loose!

Elisabeth - I hope your friend in Kansas finds you.

Jill - that sucks! I hope your husband can get his old job back.

Deb said...

Ha! So, I was just perusing my favorite tabloid, I mean entertainment news site, and found this gem:

The Next 'Jersey Shore' -- Rednecks Wanted
TMZ has learned Doron Ofir Casting is looking for "12 lucky guys and gals who are keepin' it country and want to party their asses off" to star in a new reality show called "Party Down South."

I mean, seriously, could it get *any better?!

Anonymous said...

Not another reality show - where does it end? I'm so disgusted with society lately.

Deb said...

Margaret - "there will be a casting RV that'll slow ride through Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennesse, Kentucky and West Virginia -- and hopefully land a crop of rednecks wild enough to make "Jersey Shore" look like "Hey Dude."

In case any of our Daisy friends in the South are, um, interested?

Anonymous said...

I don't think of Florida as redneck - in FL they could do a show about the early bird eaters. When we're in Sanibel my mom gets a hoot out of me wanting to go to dinner every night at 4:30 - when in Rome!!!

Lisa said...

"to star in a new reality show called "Party Down South."

This has the potential to be really great or really, really sucky. But I'll watch it at least once. ;-) Sorry, Margaret.

Elisabeth, what about the possibility of you, your husband and Chris all getting a new, 2 bedroom place together? Maybe the complex he's in now would let y'all move into a larger apartment?

Lisa said...

"I don't think of Florida as redneck"

You should. It's packed full of us...uh, *them. :-D Florida, after all, gave the world Lynyrd Skynrd,.38 Special, Molly Hatchet and The Outlaws. You can't do that and not have a hearty crop of rednecks growing.

Deb said...

AP - you are definitely right, it could go either way. I did not watch jersey shore, but saw enough on entertainment news sites and The Soup that they *wanted it to be a train wreck. Surely, this will have the same expectation.

Deb said...

One thought on the magnetic cards, I do not think they could be de-magnetized via USPS. They process millions of credit cards, etc without issue. Just thinking out loud.

Lisa said...

Deb, I watched about 15 minutes of Jersey Shore and was at a loss as to the thrill of it. I hope this one is better.

Good point about the cards, too, you're right. Elisabeth, there should be an 800 number on the back that you can call to check the balance and such.

Robin in Montana said...

Good morning, you vile daisies!

Deb said...

So apparently, if you hit the alt/ctrl/up arrow key, your computer screen will rotate sideways. I found this out by accidentally setting my pocketbook on my keyboard this morning. I had *no idea you could 1) do that and 2) how to get it back upside right.

So, we had to google it. Now I know. But now, something happened that the text is not as dark on the screen. My eyes are dying here.

Deb said...

AP - if the cards had a serial number on the back of them, you would think the store could've checked the balance without using the magnetic strip.

twirldawg said...

Deb I used to play that trick on my students all the time.

R has a summer cold and I feel achy :( I've gotten into the bad habit of napping when he naps, guess I'm going to do that again today.

Deb said...

Jill - as long as I've been using computers, I had *no idea that could happen. It was a good laugh.

....aaaaand here's the rain!

Deb said...

wow, where *is everyone?!

PJ said...

Deb - I'm supposed to be entering grades.

AP...a 2 br would be wonderful, because we could both (hubs & I) live there. My parents would have to keep my dogs which would suck because I miss them SO much while at Chris'......but I know they would take excellent care of them. I was shocked at the price increase from 1 br to 2 br.....the one he lives in now and has lived in for nearly a decade is 770 a month. 2 br's here are over 1200. Which is crazy....that's my parents house payment. We looked into some cheaper neighborhoods but could not *believe the price difference between 2 br and 1.

Re the cards......he thought it was possible they were somehow messed up because they were sent in a large box (with the wii) rather than envelopes.....so he said maybe it was subject to more scanning, etc. I think he was reaching because he just had no idea.
There IS a number to call and check the balance, but as each card has $50 prominently displayed in bright red. It just never occurred to me that I *needed to check the balances.

I think it was an error HEB made when the cards were purchased. I am hopeful the person will contact me as I would hate to think of them wasting their money.

Thanks for all the help. I am feeling much better today and as far as the cards go, I feel very confident that our "friend" will contact us ASAP!

Chris is just about to go in to see Dr Yao, so wish us luck!! We need her to agree with the therapists' and decide he needs therapy 4 days a week instead of only 2-3.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. We've had such bad storms, there's a huge broken branch in the apt court yard.

Does anyone know a good free place to upload pictures to share? One that works on the phone, too.

Anonymous said...

Just for clarity's sake...when you call the number on the back, it says the card has not yet been activated. They get activated as soon as you pay for them at the register, so for someone who almost certainly ordered them online I'm not sure how it would work......but I feel strongly that the error was made somewhere in that ordering process.

Anonymous said...

Deb, did it storm badly for you?? We had, through out the entire night, the kind of thunder claps the came very close to causing a need for new undies, hah! I mean it sounded like the very atmospere was being ripped open.

Re. the redneck show......Chris says if you look at the progression of tv over the last generation, how you weren't even allowed to say the word "pregnant" and compare it to what they show *now.....he says we are probably less than one generation away from seeing live executions on tv.

I used to think he was crazy for thinking this......but now?? Unfortunately, now I can't say "that will NEVER HAPPEN" like I used to....

Lisa said...

Woooo, a whopping 17 posts. Man, that's sad. :-P

Elisabeth, yes, it sounds like there was an error made when the cards were purchased. I sure hope it gets straightened out soon. And the jump from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom is like that here, too. I just figured it would probably still be a savings over y'all paying for 2 places, plus you could be with your husband daily.

Lol, there's a new FB game - Frontierville. I'm in trouble.

Lisa said...

Oh, and try Photobucket...it should do what you need.

Shannon said...

Hey all.....it is DEAD up in here :)

So I just got a good laugh from the local news. This state which enjoys opening new prisons like they are factories is having to close 3 of the minimum security facilities.

I find it humorous because for a couple of years they were building a new prison a year and they still have like 5 that they are planning to build. And we cant even keep the courts open 5 days a week and have been cutting funding to the police force every year.

twirldawg said...

A new FB game?

Elisabeth try flickr.

Sandy said...

"Lol, there's a new FB game - Frontierville. I'm in trouble."

I went cold turkey on all FB games. There was a little withdrawl, but I'm okay. I'm sorry but green alien sheep with weird things sticking out of its head is just really wrong.

Lisa said...

Jill, yep, it just started today and it's pretty good. I like it better than Treasure Island, in fact. We get to clobber snakes and fight bears...lol. Margaret, I love my games so you're a stronger woman than I.

Anonymous said...

Hello, is there anybody in there - just nod if you can hear me - is there anyone at home?

Lisa said...

Shannon, what a waste. Did they say if they're going to do anything with those prisons?

Lisa said...

*nods*

Shannon said...

Probably not. Right now I think there are 2 or 3 just sitting there empty. It really frustrates me because it costs many millions to build them and at one point they were still staffing several while only at a percentage of their capacity. But at the same time our law enforcement and education system suffer.

What really pisses me off is that probably a good 25-30% of the prisons are housing the dangerous criminals guilty of possession of pot.

Lisa said...

I wonder if they could make hospitals out of them?

Deb said...

Shannon - ship Baltimore one of those prisons...Stat!

Shannon said...

Hey deb they still havent found him.

Sorry I had to run and get some stuff at the store, the daughter, and the husband.

I think it would be great if they could convert them into something useful. I mean seriously Measure 11 kicked in and they went ape shit building prisons and now we are suddenly unable to fund them and keep them up and running. I would love to see them sell them and use the proceeds for what we really need the money for.

BJ and Ginger - If you are out there, miss you!

Kay - Hope you are feeling better!

Lisa said...

Kaytie, yes, she's talking to me but she's still foul. I wonder if 3 months of steroid eye drops finally caught up with her?

I miss a lot of the old ones...we're dropping like flies around this place. Speaking of which, I'm going to leave this post up. Just watch Lady Gaga again since it's not like she ever gets old. ;-)

Muliebrity said...

Kaytie, Was it you who named what my annoying, saggy lower belly skin is called?

Mulie......I know, I feel so rotten even having brought it up. But it was her presumably hard-earned money that she spent.....and it should not go to waste over what I'm sure is just some stupid clerical error.

Between what she spent on the cards, what I *know a wii costs, tax, and shipping....she likely spent only a hair less than FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS on my family. That just boggles my mind, and the fact that she has chosen to remain anonymous shows that she really isn't in it for the glory or so people will tell her how fabulously selfless she is.....she really IS just trying to be nice and ease our burden a bit, maybe see if we can't cut the constant stress and tension in our lives by having a fun video game to play.

And I "reward" her by calling her out in public despite her *obvious desire to stay anonymous, and making it seem like she sent us "crappy nonworking grocery cards".

When in reality, I am no less touched by her actions even though the cards don't work. I am still overwhelmed that anyone, much less a literal "perfect stranger" would put so, so *much into helping my family when we need it.

I feel very strongly about the fact that she WILL get in touch. I just don't see such an obviously nice person choosing to a, waste her hard earned money and b, I don't think she'd want us to just 'never' have the grocery cards......all in the name of preserving anonymity. She can still BE "anonymous"........use a pseudonym or what have you.

I just feel bad that like Mulie said "no good deed goes unpunished"......this person made the nicest and most generous single contribution to Chris.....and yet here I am "punishing" her. I feel absolutely horrible.

"Friend", I am so sorry, please forgive us.

Anonymous said...

Mulie OMG what IS it with women who do things like that??!

What you mean you 'luuuuv' her?! HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME.....ah I'm sorry, what's your name again?"

I am square in AP's "Do. Not. Get." camp.

Deb -- OMG. That's horrible.

It just seems ... *off that none of the cards work.

Shannon said...

So I actually get to hang out and chat it up today woooohooooo. No worries about anything school :)

We do go this afternoon to talk to mom about the care credit for the out of pocket portion for Mikala's surgery. Did I tell you all that it looks like the day after the fireworks she gets to go in?

Ta ta for now (pun intended!)

twirldawg said...

The only plastic surgery I would consider would be a reduction and lift. A small C large B would be ok with me.

Shannon said...

I didnt think they would get her in so fast either. I think that they were a little shocked at how fast the insurance gave approval....they were estimating 2 weeks and they got it in less then a week.

I am like Sandy and would like to have the girls back where they should be so that they no longer need a rolling to get where they belong LOL.

Shannon said...

Jill I have thought about plastic surgery before and I think I can say that I dont want anything changed....just fixed if that makes sense. I want my boobs back where they belong. I want the stretched skin on my belly gone. And I want the fat on the inside of my thighs gone LOL.....However everyone can leave my face alone because that is who I am.

Sandy said...

I just want to put them back where they belong.

Anonymous said...

Hi all!

AP - I *promise to comment more once my finals are over! :)

Deb - The Talibans hung a 7 year-old? That is beyond cruel! Alas, I can't say it surprises me.

I don't want any plastic surgery - not that I don't want anything changed in my body - but the risks are not worth it.

Robin in Montana said...

But you're a youngster, Corinne and your boobs haven't had time to migrate anywhere! :-)

Are any of you going to watch the soccer world cup?

KaytieJ said...

Hey Corinne! Ummm....World Cup watching...probably not. Do I get points for having seen Pele play in person? Eh gads, I just dated myself. No wonder I am contemplating so seriously on boob size :-D

Sandy said...

Not so much a rought day Corinne. B & C *constantly fight. I don't get it. Each has a gazillion toys and neither wants do anything independently.

My brother and I are the same number of years apart. He did his thing and I did mine. These two...OMG. Up each others rears from sun up to sun down.

To top it off, having a special needs child that craves structure is hard. I fly by the seat of my pants. We do have a regular routine but it has to be tightened up for C.

Robin in Montana said...

Kaytie - LOL!

Corinne - no to the soccer. I don't know anything about soccer, at all!

Sandy -- Don't forget you just bought that rum, girl! :-)

ALright, well, I'll just talk about soccer to myself. There will be fascinating debates I'll have with myself about the soccer games. Hehe. I don't really watch sport on TV, except for big competitions such as the world cup in soccer and the six nations tournament in rugby. I love rugby.

Kaytie - You *do get points for having seen Pele play in person! ;-)

Sandy - I'm sorry. It sucks that they don't really get along :( (((hugs)))

KaytieJ said...

Even though it is cool and raining - took my coffee out to the porch. It is a preSchool version of Animal Kingdom out there.

Out from under the Japanese Maple a baby bunny hopped out. I grabbed our Xolo before he could eat it. During the commotion, a little red headed bird was just standing there flapping it's wings like crazy and taking little hops. I realized then it is a baby bird learning how to fly. Fascinating.

Sandy said...

Shannon, LOL.

They want to go in the pool which is fine BUT I can hear the fight right now. "Mom, he/she splashed me."

For the love of Pete, you are in the pool. You *will get wet and water splashed on you.

Does anyone else have the "Don't look at me...Mom, he/she is looking at me and I don't like it"

KaytieJ said...

Sandy - I get what you mean about being a fly by the seat of your pants kind of person and having a child that needs extra structure and routine. It is stressful.

PJ said...

Oh Sandy - I remember the "Mom!!!!! Make him stop looking at me!!!"

Okay, hun, I'll just gouge out your brothers eyes.

Sandy said...

Corinne, they get along when *they want to get along. It's funny because C always thinks of B. She always wants to include him. She will tolerate him for 2.3 seconds and then it's over.

Shannon said...

Sandy if it makes you feel any better I have heard that fight before. OMG Chris and Anne have had some of the most horrible fights caused by both being in the pool/river/lake and splashing going on.

Sandy said...

OMG CK, I just told her that yesterday. She looked at me like huh?

KaytieJ said...

Lady CKaCKa! I am rolling at what a mom would REALLY like to say their kids!

Sandy said...

Oh I know Shannon. I think a lot of problems these days with kids in general is too much TV and video games. There is this constant need for entertainment. One of C's therapists had told me that and I could not agree more.

Sandy said...

I am seriously thinking of unplugging TVs and such around here. I think it would after a while it would cause them to become a little more creative with play instead of the need to be entertained.

PJ said...

You've got a good idea there Sandy. I think it takes them a while to get used to it - they'll probably fuss and whine FOR.QUITE.A.WHILE, but ultimately will find other things to do.

PJ said...

I always found that to be one of the hardest things as a mom. To outlast them when trying to make changes to bad habits - like whining for a specific food, or to be entertained. They seemed to wear me down.

When I could stick it out, it was really effective. If I'd stuck it out more often, in the long run it would have been better.

PJ said...

When we'd go on vacation to a cabine where there was no TV, they seemed to easily find things to do.

Proof right there they could figure out how to stay entertained.

::people didn't have home computers or video games when my kids were young::

Oh wait - we did have Duck Hunt - was that atari?

Robin in Montana said...

I have a friend whose kids are, to put it very, ver mildly, over-scheduled. They are in every freaking activity known to man, they are never, ever, *ever home at night, always at friends, to a movie, out to eat, going out of town to shop, etc., etc., etc. Yet they are always, always *always bored. (eyeroll)

She wants to hang out, but when we talk about htings to do with the kids, I suggest like we could go bowling. She'll have to ask if her kids want to do that. Nope, they don't. It's boring. We could go to the lake. Check with kids. Nope, boring. And so on. It makes me so freakin' frustrated. First of all, when I was a kid, if my folks had said we were going bowling, it wouldn't have been a question, and we would have been frickin' *thrilled. Second, which is also kind of first, why is she *asking 7 and 9yos if it's 'okay' if she provides entertainment if that entertainment is approved by them. Grr.

I do think kids are over-stimulated and get bored because nothing is big or flashy or gimmicky enough for them any more and they don't have to rely on their own imagination for anything.

I must be getting old or something.

Sandy said...

I hear you about being over scheduled RiM. My brother's kids are like that. They are in *everything.

CK - I'm sure you're looking forward to the colon probe...Not! ;-D

Shannon said...

I love the hula hoop....that works out the everything.....I also like the obstacle course....and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the steps!!!!

Robin in Montana said...

Well,hell, *I want a Wii!

Lisa said...

This Wii talk is making me nuts.

Shannon said...

The only sucky part of it is that the Wii fit is about 1/2 the cost of a Wii so when all is said and dont you are looking at a minimum of about $300 bucks. The only reason we have the set up is from successful wallet shaking at the moon :)

Anonymous said...

<--- doesn't like video games. Wiis are expensive and I'd rather buy more useful things with that money. Like bras. ;-D

Je ne sais pas quoi dire en Français alors c'est tout ce que je vais écrire pour le moment. Si vous voulez que je traduise quoi que ce soit, faites-le moi savoir!

Probably not stimulating and certainly NOT sexy but that's all I could come up with right now!

Shannon said...

AP for those of us who happen to be full body gamers the Wii is a perfect toy :)

KaytieJ said...

My retention of Puerto Rican Spanish, said with a Castillion accent :thankyouverymuch:

dos cervezas por favor. ¿Dónde está baño?

Yes, I skipped the "el". Shows where my priorities were while living in PR :-D

Lisa said...

I love the upside down ?s when writing Spanish. Just thought I'd mention that.

KaytieJ said...

LMAO - AP is getting a Wii headache just like SW gets a "YOU'VE GOT MAIL" headache :::evil grin:::

KaytieJ said...

AP -
¡Exclamation points, too!

Lisa said...

Kaytie, I'm just trying to hold my tongue some. And yes, I like the upside down !s, too.

KaytieJ said...

AP?

What did I do this time to piss you off? I've known you for years, girl friend. Spill it. I have my big girl panties on, I promise :-D

Anonymous said...

CK - I heard aliens give anal probes for free.

Anonymous said...

We do not have a TV at the beach house - it's bliss! We do watch movies on my laptop but that's only a rainy day.

Lisa said...

Thank you for that recommendation, CK. ;-)

Kaytie, not mad at you, just troubled by some things around here and am feeling like I might be the world's biggest bitch for saying them. But I will. I just need to go pee and snack first.

KaytieJ said...

ruh roh Daisies...AP is not answering me right off. I'm in for it.

:::donning aluminum foil "shiny side out" suit:::

Sandy, got any of those heat reflective pink Daisy Depends left???

Anonymous said...

It can't be that bad - when AP is about to go to battle she mentions putting on a bra!

KaytieJ said...

Oh geeze...quick, somebody say something really snarky!

Don't let AP eat or relieve!

KaytieJ said...

Margaret - that is true. Thinking on it, she for the REALLY big ones, she usually paints her toes.

Anonymous said...

I'd like to talk more about CK's probe - she should sCKype it, what's a good rectal exam without friends.

KaytieJ said...

Margaret - You are too funny! I can just see the photo shop job on that one!

Life full of bRATS said...

Not doing well.

Shannon said...

Oh Kay I am sorry to hear that. Have you made it home from the hospital yet

Life full of bRATS said...

Nope

KaytieJ said...

Kay - Oh no. Can we distract you with some fun or do you want a hug?

Anonymous said...

I can't remember if Kay likes hugs but I'll sing Mack the Knife :)

PJ said...

Back from the end of year program.

You can all watch Katie Couric's colonoscopy on line.

My colon is private.

Lisa said...

I'm here and y'all are mean. :-P

Kay, I'm so sorry. Are you home?

PJ said...

The only reason we have a Wii is because we won one. No way we would have spent the money on it.

The Wii Fit?? Well you have to speak with Mole about that one. I mean, I'm glad he's thoughtful about birthday gifts, and I *hope to use it, but it seemed a bit extravagant given his unemployment.

Kids pitched in too - although they are poor so I don't think it was very much.

PJ said...

I guess we could have returned the Wii and used the cash. I didn't even think about that until now.

Down the road, when we're eating PB sandwiches and living at my dad's house we may kick ourselves for that one.

Shannon said...

CK we got lucky with the timing of ours.

When Josh was still working with Jeremy they had this thing where when they were at the coast they would stop on the way home at the casino to get dinner and toss a 20 a piece in. Well right before Christmas Josh won over 700 bucks so he bought the Wii for the kids for Christmas.

Then about 2 months ago I did a moon shake and got an additional 1200 bucks in school money. This was right around when I started gaining weight so I got the Wii Fit.

And being on the more responsible side we did that one AFTER the bills were paid :)

Shannon said...

Look at me killing the whole place :(

I know you all are gonna say you got busy but I know the truth

Muliebrity said...

<------------Waiting for AP's observations.

PJ said...

I'm back - at job #2. You did not kill *me at least, Shannon.

Shannon said...

LOL CK

Mulie you know AP she will share her observations when it is the perfect time. She likes to do things that way.

How is your little doll doing?

Lisa said...

Y'all make me sound like such a nut. :-P

We have a Wii...I got it for Jake's birthday one year back before the bottom fell out of the freaking market and I could afford it. He may get a plastic cover for the wiimote this year.

PJ said...

AP,
Are you a day trader?

Lisa said...

A day trader? Me? Oh, hell, no. I'm just someone who made some decent investments once upon a time.

Lisa said...

So, what's for dinner around this place?

PJ said...

Spaghetti with spicy italian sausage. Ciabatta bread. Some green vegetable.

How about you?

Lisa said...

Yuuuummmm....

Fried fish, hominy, salad and cantaloupe here. Nothing exciting, yours sounds better.

twirldawg said...

Hamburger helper and salad. . .we're classy round these parts.

PJ said...

I miss Rice Oriental Hamburger Helper.

Incredible sodium. Delicious with a glass of ice cold milk.

PJ said...

Jill - we killed with the HH talk.

Lisa said...

Hey, there's not a thing wrong with Hamburger Helper. It's one of the world's best comfort foods, close behind mashed taters.

PJ said...

Son would make HH lasagne and corn sandwiches.

Yes, he'd pile his Hamburger Helper into a piece of white bread, top it with some corn, fold it in half to eat it.

KaytieJ said...

Stouffers Mac and Cheese (it's still my fav)
Big spinach salad with lots of stuff that needs to be eaten or tossed to the chickens
Ruby Grapefruits for dessert

KaytieJ said...

CK - that sounds good actually. Hmmmm,,,might rethink the Stouffers.

PJ said...

We eat better now than we did then. Promise.

Is serving Hamburger Helper a white trash kinda thing?

Life full of bRATS said...

Not. Home, very tired

PJ said...

Hi Kay.

Not home? Or Home?

Karen said...

Hi Daisys!!!!! Haven't commented in a day or two - but been trying to keep up reading - still have some comments to catch up on but have a little bit, so thought I'd comment when some of you are around!! Whats new?

Lisa said...

Hey, Karen! How are things?

Kay, what's going on? Are you worse?
And I don't think Hamburger Helper is white trash. At least the people in the commercials for it aren't.

PJ said...

Hi Karen! Glad you're here!

KaytieJ said...

Hello Karen!!!

Robin in Montana said...

I like Hamburger Helper. As long as you leave the hamburger out. :-)

We're having chicken fried steaks, mashed taters and gravy, corn, watermelon and some artisan bread thing with big chunks of roasted garlic in it.

Diet? What diet?

Karen said...

Hi Kaytie and CK and AP and Robin! and LFoB! I'm sorry you aren't feeling better LFoB!!

I'm having leftover pizza! and Patti is at a 'women's football 101" thing at the local college... the money is going to breast cancer and its a whole big thing... so she was all excited to go!

Mmmm Robin, chicken fried steaks that you make home-made? Mine never ever come out right, all the coating comes of in the pan... Can I just come over and watch you make yours? and while there, I might as well eat, cause the artisan bread thing with the big chunks of roasted garlin in it sounds SO good right now!!

PJ said...

Tofu helper, Robin?

Karen said...

I must admit - I hate hamburger helper! Is that un-american?

Robin in Montana said...

Karen - you are welcome. Kelly makes it and apparently the trick is coating/battering/whatever it's called and then letting that set for awhile so it doesn't come off in the pan. So says he. I just nod and bat my eyes. :-D

CK - I'm not a vegetarian, but hamburger in general, that texture, just ... doesn't work for me.

<---freak of nature.

Anonymous said...

I never ate HH or canned vegetables until I met hubs - now I eat both. But I used ground turkey.

Karen said...

Kelly is cooking! Well thats even better Robin, we can sit and have ourselves some cocktails and he can serve it up for us, right?

I'm off to get my lawn chair and a 6 pack... be right over!

I wonder if he coats it with dry stuff, or batters it with wet? Guess it doesn't matter if he's cooking!

Karen said...

Has a feeling Robin is eating without me while I sit here all alone with my six pack and my lawn chair...

Robin in Montana said...

Karen - not eating yet, but am drinking, wondering where the heck you are! The verdict on the coating is dredge in seasoned flour, then dip in egg/milk, then back in flour, then on wax paper in the fridge for at least a half hour.

Now, get your lawn chair and whatever beer you have left, and get over here!

Karen said...

Woo Hoo On my way Robin!!!! Better stop for another six pack, I been sittin here a LONG time!
