'We must either love each other or we must die'.

Yea. Right. ::eyeroll::

I don't know. I think Tinley is too "cutesy" but Vienna is too trashy. Neither! He runs back to Ali!

Hey Corinne..I have a random question - how do you say your name - is it Core- een or is it Core- in? I say it the latter but sometimes I think it might be with a long "e" sound.

Lisa said...

Morning, y'all! I've got a busy day ahead of me and will be scarce the next few days because of company. I'm not happy. I'm going to try to catch up from last night when I can but it'll be awhile and I may not manage. I hope everyone is okay.

For anyone not worn out on the tongue topic, check my blog. :-D

kristin said...

Have a good one and I'm sorry! I read your blog...very phallic!

I also e-mailed you!

Take care and you'll be missed!

Let me know if you need rescuing - I can always call :)

Lisa said...

Thanks, Kristin! Ugh...off to clean and make lasagna now.

Anonymous said...

AP- Well, I hope your houseguests are not going to be real PITAs. And don't be too scarce!

Kristin- I was asking about the Bachelor because I've read comments about people thinking Vienna will win but since I've only watched one or two episodes, I couldn't tell if they were onto something.

Re: my name pronunciation: In French and Dutch you say co-RIN (in French, the stress is *always* on the last syllable, no matter teh word)
I guess you can pronounce it however you feel it sounds right in English ;)

Robin in Montana said...

Popping in real fast to say hello and that I've missed all of you! I watched the Bachelor WTA while I was cleaning up the kitchen and making dinner, but I thought I heard Rozlyn accuse OUr Host Chris Harrison of hitting on the wife of the producer that she is accused of having a thing with? Is that true, or did I mishear?

Anonymous said...

Hi RiM!!!!

Robin in Montana said...

Hi Corinne. :)

kristin said...

RiM - she did mention that. I googled info and the producer and the wife are now divorced.

How are you?

Corinne - that is how I say it in my head :) I just typed it wrong, but I say the last part of your name using "in" and not "een"

Anonymous said...

RiM- I think you shouldn't stay away from here so long ;)

Kristin- When I was in Calif., staying with the host family they pronounced my name like you do and their daughter said co-REEN. So I guess both can be accepted. I have no preference either way :-)

Robin in Montana said...

Core-IN -- I know, I hate it. I have a big bunch of work on my plate, and honestly this entire last year and a half or so, because of all the crap that's gone down with losing my mom and getting divorced, etc., etc., I've really let my work get behind and I've not been that stellar of a little typist here. I can't let that keep happening, so I've had some stern talks with myself (ha) and realized I need to pull my head out. I have some stuff to catch up and then I should be able to be back to my normal work load where I can balance work and play a little better.

I won't go away, don't worry!

Robin in Montana said...

I know you all were wondering, (ha) but my little frisbee thief guy got 70 months in prison under a Measure 11 sentence, so that means no early release, no alternative programs. He was eligible under sentencing guidelines for 210 months, but they his sentences concurrent.

His brother, the one that actually had the knife and held it to the throat of the kid who threw the frisbee? Got probation. Pays to plead out and not piss of the DA, I guess.

kristin said...

70 months! WOW!

Shannon said...

That is freaking insane....another fine example of our fabulous justice system.

Morning ladies

Robin in Montana said...

Yup. To be fair, though, he's already a felon and was on probation for a slew of stuff ranging from weapons charges to possession/distribution of meth. It's not like he was the choir boy and swiped a frisbee.

They played the recording of the video/audio recording in the police car when they first detained him and just had him and his brother sitting in the car while they interviewed the kids, and holy cow. I can keep up with any sailor in the cussing department, and cussing doesn't really bother me, but goodness, I need ear bleach after that mess! Oh, and on the way to the jail he asks the (female) officer if she "wants some of this." And then laughs.

Anonymous said...

RiM- Maybe I should try voodoo so you can win the lottery? Then, you'll have plenty have free time :P

And, 70 months?!?!

kristin said...

NICE RiM!

Shannon - you have mail!

Anonymous said...

Hi Shannon!

RiM- Ok. So, he is a whackjob!

Robin in Montana said...

<----- should be typing.

Shannon, I agree. While he is obviously not exactly a pillar of society, I hate how attorneys can bend words around to make anything fit into the elements of a crime. He got charged with Rob I and Rob II, for "aiding and abettting" even though his brother was the one with the knife. Closing arguments lasted over 3 hours while the defense attorney forced the elements required for those crimes into what actually happened. He did have a knife on him, which would have been enough to violate his felony probation and send him back to jail for awhile and off the streets, as is. But they went for and got the Measure 11. And yes, now your tax dollars are paying for him for the next almost 6 years. Plus, he's a mental health patient, so in addition to prison tax dollars are paying for counseling and medication.

Shannon said...

RiM what did they end up actually charging him with?

Another of those fabulous Measure 11 things....you steal a beer they throw 15 charges at you knowing maybe only 2 will really stick and you get 18+ months for that beer.

Cool Kristin having help would be awesome....first I have to put it together :)

kristin said...

Shannon - would it help if I sent you mine to look at?

I have the one that I am using for teaching...and I can probably (somewhere) find my standard one too. Let me know.

Shannon said...

Geesh teach me not to refresh before typing.

That is fabulous that this $3.00 frisbee and assault that the person will forget except as a funny story in a year or so will cost tax payers roughly over a hundred grand easily.

kristin said...

and it's a 4 man crew today - the boss lady just came in and left, said she wasn't going to work today. Her SIL is in town. Good times!

Shannon said...

Kristin.....What I am wanting to do with it is focus it on education versus employment....I havent worked much in the last few years but I have a slew of knowledge and schooling in my head. I want to focus on what I know and can do as opposed to what my past jobs say I can.

Robin in Montana said...

Shannone -- yes. Two kids had the knife held to them; one just toward his direction and one with it to his throat. By the brother. He pled out to I don't know what, but got probation.

They charged this guy with two counts of Rob I, one for each victim, two counts of Rob II, one for each victim, a Theft by Taking, and and ... I forget the last one. Something to do with the knife he had in his pocket. Plus umpteen probation violations.

And best part? Turns out the frickin' frisbee was stolen to begin with, the kids had stolen it from a cousin or something. It was one of those ones for frisbee golf, so a half hour's worth of testimony had to go in to establishing that it would retail for approximately $12.99. @@

Anonymous said...

So, I have no idea what this Measure 11 is but 70 months for his crime seems like an inappropriate sentence to me, even if the guy violated his probation.

In Belgium he would have gotten, uh, nothing because our justice system sucks too!

Anonymous said...

Shannon- How did your accountancy test go?

Shannon said...

Corinne--Measure 11 is how Oregon politicians have decided they can cure crime. With mandatory jail time and minimum sentences they think that they will be able to rid the state of illegal activities. What they have in fact done is made it so that legally steeling a frisbee is no different then stealing a car. Possessing 1.5oz of pot is the same as possessing 10lbs.

Here is a Wiki thing on it if you want to read it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oregon_Ballot_Measure_11_%281994%29

Can you tell I hate Measure 11?

Robin in Montana said...

Corrine - Measure 11 is only in Oregon, and it's a list of 20-some crimes that have mandatory sentences, period, with no early release or programs. 15 years old is the cut-off for being prosecuted under Measure 11. I think the theory was maybe basically good, but it takes away (IMO) a judge's ability to exercise common sense and reason. It also (again IMO) gives prosecutors some kind of head trip that it looks good to have prosecuted X number of Measure 11 cases in their career.

Shannon said...

I am so frustrated with that test it is not even funny LOL

I only got a 50% on it because 3 of the main questions did not give what I felt was all the information needed. It's ok cause I will bust it out for the real test :)

Robin in Montana said...

Yes, Shannon described it better. lol.

How do you feel about the DRE program, Shannon? (Recognizing that the DRE program is everywhere, not just Oregon.)

Anonymous said...

Shannon & RiM- Thanks for the info!
I don't think it makes sense either. I mean, yes, theoretically it could work but in reality, that's just a stupid idea.

Shannon- I'm sending you good vibes for the real test! I'm sure it'll go well =)

Robin in Montana said...

Argh! Still ranting on, and not typing. Thinking about the DRE thing made me think about how frustrating law enforcement is here.

Lisa knows about this guy, but my ex neighbor, I will call him Drunk Kevin, has had 3 DUIs and under Montana law if he gets a fourth it will be a year in jail. He has, in the last two years or so, wrecked two or three trucks, been pulled over and charged with DUI twice and got out of it. He sits at the bar, on Main STreet, every night until he's too soused to walk, hops in his truck, and off he goes. There's like 1,200 people in this town, so it's not as if he's not noticeable.

Anyway. As you're leaving town to go to my road (and his) you cross the river on a little almost one-lane bridge. This last weekend he somehow hit ice or something, spun sideways on that bridge, taking out 3 of the posts. Jumps out of the truck and runs, leaving the truck there, cops come and go, oh, gosh, now *whose truck could this be??? :::sscratching heads::: and have the truck towed. He shows up the next morning, now sober, and chews *them out for taking his truck, saying he had just left to go look for help. Doesn't get charged with any.thing.

Angie said...

AP, I knew something bad was going to happen to the little daisy girl. I'm just glad it was offscreen. Something's just not quite right about you. :-)

I hope there will be pork in the lasagna. Good luck. We'll be thinking about you!

Angie said...

Robin!!! Welcome back!! We've miissssseeed you!!

I think Vienna's gonna "win," but I don't think they are still together. Although I haven't watched the Women Tell All thing. Did Jake say he was in love and with someone?

Shannon said...

See RiM that is about all that I get from this DRE thing....nothing happens :)

One of my acquaintances, after this I no longer considered her a friend, got pulled over for DuII. Well not only was she drunk but she was high on heroin as well. Not only was she driving herself around......she had her 2 year old in the back seat!!!! Know what they did? Sent her to rehab. Guess what she is still drinking and doing drugs.

From what I have been able to gather from DRE is that it is supposed to get peeps like these off the streets but that is only if anyone does anything about it.

Robin in Montana said...

SW -- HI! Like I said, I kind of caught part of it, but I thought when OHCH asked him if he was happy, he said yes, but no elaboration.

I see Jason and Molly are going to have a televised wedding. I'm not entirely sure I could consume enough vodka to get through that mess without killing myself.

Robin in Montana said...

I don't get the point of the DRE thing. They cannot determine impairment, but classify which drug category (narcotics, analgesics, whatever) they are under the influence of. The impairment is determined with the field tests, so WHAT drug they're under the influence of doesn't seem like a necesary thing to me, considering what we pay for DRE training and the cost it involves to have the DRE done. Just seems pointless.

Angie said...

Hardly anybody likes Molly and Jason. I can't imagine there would be a lot of interest in their wedding. I bet ABC will try hard to get Melissa to attend, to help rehabilitate M & J. BTW, I saw Melissa on some entertainment show where she works now (ET?) and she was interviewing stars on some red carpet and she was just darling. I love her.

Robin in Montana said...

The Pioneer Woman is having a giveaway for le Crueset dutch ovens today. I would be willing to trade one child (maybe even both of them) for one of those.

And also I was looking at the recipe for Cajun Chicken Pasta and think I might need that tonight.

Shannon said...

Sorry to have disappeared had to take a shower...gotta get my girly bits investigated today and we all know about that LOL

Lisa said...

I'm back, taking a caffeine break. SW, I'm not putting pork in the lasagna but don't think I'm not sorely tempted. ;-) What cracks me up is that you aren't the first person who has told me to do this and I wonder what's up with so many people wanting to sneak Jews pork?

Lisa said...

Shannon, is the investigation routine or to uncover a possible problem? Yes, that's nosy - just ignore it if you want. I was just wondering if we should worry or not.

Shannon said...

It is routine but also to make sure that the problem they saw last time is better and not getting bigger.

Shannon said...

And not to mention it is only about 4 months late LOL

kristin said...

Shannon - oh how I hate that appointment!

So guess what I did on my lunch break?

I was supposed to go to the gym. I went home and cleaned b/c I am so freakin' irritated.

Good times!

Robin in Montana said...

So I'm craving pasta, but I don't know ... *what exactly. Here's what I'm thinking:

Roast some zucchini, mushrooms, tomatoes, and garlic. Saute some onions and garlic. Add a can of artichoke hearts and all the roasted veggies. Some chicken broth, white wine, and fat free half and half and let simmer down. Over pasta? With parmesan? Yes? No? Maybe? Needs chicken?

kristin said...

RiM - no help from me, although it sounds delish, when will it be ready?

I need to figure out what to do for dinner. We did pizza last night. I have left over chicken and rice, so I may just heat that up. Yeah, I'm boring.

Robin in Montana said...

How is the chicken cooked? You could saute up some veggies and throw in with the chicken (chopped up) and eat it over the rice. Or saute some onions and mushrooms and add a packet of chicken gravy mix and the chicken and eat it over the rice.

<---apparently starving to death today.

kristin said...

It's left over rotisserie.

Robin in Montana said...

Hmmm. Chicken tacos. Or the veggies sauteed/soy sauce/chicken over the rice. Chicken quesadillas? Chicken salad sandwiches? Throw a can of black beans, a can of corn, a can of tomatoes, a can of green chiles, a couple cans of chicken broth and a packet of taco seasoning and the chicken in and call it taco soup? Eat with grated cheese and crunched up tortilla chips?

kristin said...

hmmmmm.....the chicken and rice sounds good but I'd have to stop for veggies. I dunno!

Lindsay said...

Go with the taco soup, Kristin.

Do you have a crockpot? I have a great taco soup recipe that is soooo easy and will be done by the time you get home from work. Leaving you with *loads of extra time :p

kristin said...

I do have a crockpot Linds!

Shoot me an e-mail or post here, either way. I could do that tomorrow, but then I'd have to figure out something for tonight.

Chicken tenders and mac & cheese?

I'm trying to do better.

Robin in Montana said...

Ifyou have to go to the store, anyway, spaghetti or tacos are fast. Or some deli roast beef and make french dips? That's fast. I dunno.

Angie said...

Quit talking about food! :-) I had sushi for lunch and am already hungry again!

kristin said...

Yeah, but I have a 3 year old, not sure how french dip would go over.

I've tried tacos once and he wasn't into it. Tried a tortilla rolled up the other day at 'Sitos and he didn't want that either.

I'll figure something out :)

kristin said...

I WANT SUSHI :)

Lindsay said...

My kids just eat the insides out of sandwiches and tacos. When we have french dips, for the younger kids I'll just give them roast beef and cheese to eat alone without the bread.

I'll e-mail you the crockpot tortilla soup recipe. It's got like 5 ingredients and we eat it once a week because it's nummy and a time saver.

suz said...

Damn girls, you are making me hungry! Linds, I would love the taco soup recipe too!

kristin said...

Yeah, I need to find me a crock pot cookbook. I got one for Christmas one year but there aren't any real easy meals.

Angie said...

The sushi was good, but didn't fill me up. I want pizza!

Lindsay said...

Okay, in a shameless plug for my blog (hee hee) I'll post it on there. I'm not working real hard anyway right now - so I'll get it up in a few!

kristin said...

I think I am going to do a beef thing. One of my ex's (many moons ago) was Asian and he would marinade chunks of beef in soy sauce and sugar. I might do that with the rice I have and do some veggies. LM wanted green beans last night for some reason, so maybe I'll make them tonight.

Yeah, that's the ticket!

Lindsay said...

Okay - recipe's up.

And I love the sound of beef in soy sauce and sugar. Yummy! Good choice Kristin!

Robin in Montana said...

That does sound good. I've made something like that, soy sauce and sugar and ginger and some kind of korean seasoning (kind of like MSG) in thin strips and then broiled and sprinkled with sesame seeds and green onions over rice. Yum! Green beans would be really good with that.

Robin in Montana said...

Sounds good, too, Lindsay! I just had leftover chicken taco/tortilla/whateveryouwantocallit soup for about the third day in a row, and I am d.o.n.e. with it for now.

Nilia said...

Hi RiM, it's good to "see" you again!

Corinne, I'm watching Poirot again, Mrs. McGuinty's Dead. I don't think I've ever read this one, doesn't seem familiar. I've been PVRing all Poirot and Marple episodes lately and today seemed like a good day to get caught up on 2-hour episodes.

Lindsay, I am going to go check out your recipe. My kids are SO picky though. My youngest worse than my oldest, my oldest will try more stuff but we get a lot of misses around here. And I *do have a crockpot, just bought it (again) recently so I'm intrigued with crockpot recipes.

I'm home with a stomach bug today, ugh. My youngest had it a couple of weeks ago.

kristin said...

Sorry to hear FT! I hope you feel better soon!

Lindsay said...

Feel better FT. Sorry we're talking about food when you have a stomach bug :(

My kids eat that soup up like crazy. I think it's because I let them crush the tortilla chips over the top and put the sour cream and cheese on it. It might work for your kids, too.

Someone keeps saying there is some 365crockpot blog, and I still haven't checked it out. We just use ours mostly for pulled pork for sandwiches and soups.

Nilia said...

Thanks Kristin. It sure makes me appreciate what my littlest one was going through a couple of weeks ago, poor bug.

I've been meaning to tell you, my littlest one was diagnosed with bronchiolitis when he was about 5 months old, I was under the impression it was because he had been born premature. What did your doctor say? I forget how we treated it but there were no breathing treatments, probably something to take orally,is it bacterial then?

That was a scary thing to see, when he'd inhale he'd fight for breath and get this pit indenting on his chest as he inhaled.

Robin in Montana said...

Hi FT! Sorry you're sick! I am sicker than a dog today, too. My head is about to blow up, I can't breathe at all, and my neck, on the sides, like glands, hurts if I even put my hand up near it to touch. Good times.

Lindsay, that's a good blog. Just google "A year of crockpotting" and you'll find it. I like it because she posts a critique of what everyone from her husband, to her, to her kids (one is picky) thought about it and waht changes she'd make if she did it again, etc. Some good stuff there.

Nilia said...

Lindsay, I checked out your recipe and I will probably try it soon, it sounds easy and inexpensive and pretty healthy too. My little one will NOT touch it, I guarantee, corn + 2 types of beans and other stuff all mixed up and touching each other is NOT going to fly with him.

I think my oldest will like it,he likes all those ingredients and is a little more adventurous.

kristin said...

FT -

They really didn't say much. He just has junk in his lungs and the breathing treatments with abuterol are helping to expand the bronchioles so it breaks it up a bit more. The weather isn't helping much - 70's then 30's then 60's. It's insane. It was cold and rainy/sleety/snowy yesterday and today it is gorgeous, not a cloud in the sky and 50.

They did give me something *just in case (on my follow up Friday)but the saturday doctor said that antibiotics wouldn't help.

Nilia said...

Thanks, RiM! I googled that and found it but I think I'm having technical difficulties, only part of it comes up. I'll try again later.

Sorry you're sick today too...

Nilia said...

Kristin, I'm not sure that it was antibiotics we were given, I was assuming but I guess it must not have been. I guess it was probably something else and it must have been viral? They did use a mask on him in Emergency but that was was the extent of it for us. And I think *that was for testing of asthma if I recall correctly, they delivered steroids that way and since it didn't improve that meant it was *not asthma and it was bronchiolitis. I have a terrible memory. That must be hard when he fights you on it. :0(

kristin said...

It is, but mostly it is because he doesn't want to sit still or he will put the bottom portion of the mask in his mouth and the mask will get all wonky. When he starts sliding down and not sitting up, I get in bed with him - we do the treatments on my bed and watch TV - I will climb in bed with him and sit him on my lap.

It gets frustrating b/c I want him to get better and I don't want to yell or raise my voice but I have to be stern with him or he doesn't listen.

That had to be hard for such a little one to go through that.

Lindsay said...

My oldest had bronchiolitis due to RSV when he was about 3 months old, so maybe it was viral FT.

Now, hoping my youngest can get diagnosed with asthma next week. Weird to want that, but at least then she can get drugs to prevent attacks and make her feel better.

kristin said...

Just saw something on CNN - a killer whale trainer at SeaWorld in Florida was killed.

Nilia said...

Lindsay, yes, RSV, that did come up. Common in preemies, right? Did you have a preemie?

Robin in Montana said...

Kristin - what happened?

Travis and the bride-to-be are in Kalispell shopping for wedding stuff. I will just own right up to it and say it gives me no small amount of delight that I know how bad he hates to shop for *anything, even stuff he wants, so the idea that he is being dragged from store to store looking at wedding stuff, and with the drama level high? Makes me very, very giddy. :D

Robin in Montana said...

Wow, Kristin.

kristin said...

RiM - I am glad you are finding humor in something :)

I am sorry you are sick :(

kristin said...

That really sucks for the family and those who witnessed it...but is it bad that I thought...I wonder if they are accepting applications?

I mean when you work with wild animals, you have to know that they are still wild and I'm pretty sure they aren't exactly thrilled to be performing in a teeny tiny tank - so it is a possibility that the animal is going to act out once in awhile.

Robin in Montana said...

Kristin -- I agree with that, yes, about working with animals, and particularly wild ones.

Totally random, but you and your love of animal stuff made me wonder if you know about this place in Oregon? It's a wildlife rehabilitatino program, geared to getting the animals back out into their habitat. The crocodile hunter guy (his name escapes me) was very good friends with the original founder of this place (his son now runs it) and he and his family were there on several occasions. It was only about 10 miles from my house and I took the girls there lots of times, and we donated deer meat and so on (and one time a horse - don't ask, and suffice it to say it was not a decision I was happy about) to them. Very cool place.

http://www.wildlifeimages.org/

kristin said...

RiM - No, I haven't heard about them. I don't know about a lot of places around but it seems interesting and something I would love to do. I used to also volunteer for TWRC which is Texas Wildlife Rehab Coalition, people would drop of wild animals and we would care for them or find a rehabber who could take them, rehab them and then release them. It was very cool.

Hi CC! How the hell are you?

Hey Kristin - I am pretty good today, I was in a mood yesterday! I'm slowly coming out of it. How are you and how is LM?

Sorry to hear you were in a mood :(

Same shit, different day!

LM is still a little stinker and such a cutie!

cupcake said...

Did you get snow yesterday?

kristin said...

we got a few flakes. It was hailing/sleeting when I left and later that turned to snow but not much and nothing stuck. Just cold and miserable.

alright ladies - 5 minutes until departure.

*see ya later!

Checking in for a second - does anyone else find this humorous? (read down a bit in the post)

I was blog surfing, and found this post on Crazy Eyed Jess' (CEJ) place. She's stocking up on eyeliner....

PJ said...

Yeah, like she needs to accentuate those crazy eyes.

It would appear that the lights are on but no one's home.

PJ said...

Either that or my data entry has put you all to sleep too.

PJ said...

Today I had a 1st grader throw up - lucky for everyone I rushed him to the trash can in time for the upheaval.

Later to be followed by one of the smelliest SBD's (silent but deadlies) from an unidentified 3rd grade boy.

OMG!!! The kids were holding their noses a few minutes later when they left the room to go to gym.

I truly thought someone had filled their pants it was so awful.

Angie said...

Hi CK, I'm having a busy day so haven't been around much, but felt sorry for you all talkin' to yourself and everything, so wanted to say hi. :-)

I don't know how teachers do it. I couldn't deal with (a) kids (b) their vomit or (c) "filled pants"? Lord Have Mercy. I'm so glad my cats don't wear pants.

PJ said...

Hey SW - I should be having a busy day, but entering budget data reminds me how glad I am that I teach most of the day. It is never boring. I never almost fall asleep.

Are you working on keeping your gainful employment?

PJ said...

I am incredibly heartbroken to learn that the French pronounciation of Corinne does not rhyme with my given name, as I thought it did.

Nilia said...

CK: have (thankfully) never had a kid throw up in my vicinity except my own kids and then husband's on vomit patrol. I can barely handle my own vomit as I was violently reminded at 1:30 this morning.

Farts though, holy moly, little kids can stink up a room! I've had to control myself from putting my hand over my mouth, the worse is when they come to you at your desk, fart, and then leave you wallowing in the cloud.

Little kid farts = super disgusting

Nilia said...

CK: what if you changed the pronunciation of your name to match Corinne's?

PJ said...

FT,
Oh yeah - you get my "drift".

Heading home - back later.

PJ said...

FT,
Unfortunately, that doesn't work at all.

I guess I'll have to settle for the American pronounciation of her name rhyming with my name.

PJ said...

Are you feeling better, FT?

Before I leave, one more puke story - as a parent, you know without a doubt that your life has changed when you cup your hands together, reach out, and catch your own kids vomit in your bare hands.

kristin said...

Hey ladies!

Just got done with dinner and it was decent. LM liked it.

Yes, little kids farts sure do stink and I have dealt with kid puke twice and am so not a fan. I could deal with baby puke but kid puke - NASTY!

Nilia said...

CK: still feeling queasy but haven't thrown up recently. Of course your story of cupping your own child's warm, drippy vomit in your hand may have contributed to my queasiness.

I love my kids but I don't think I'm quite "there". It would only mean more puke to clean up. For my husband, I mean ;-)

Nilia said...

Looks like I'll be going to work tomorrow. Next week is already a short week for report card prep and the week after I have a dr. appointment. I truly try to not take any more time than I have to. When we go over a certain number of sick (less than half our allotted) it starts to come out of the actual school (not board) budget. So that means cutting back on other things like photocopier supplies and textbooks which I think is just crazy. I try to be responsible about it.

cupcake said...

Hi FT - I haven't talked to you in so so long! We had some delicious Canadian maple syrup this morning on our chocolate chip pancakes.

I am to CC. I got some beef that they have already cut up for beef stew - I marinated it in soy sauce and sugar. I made some rice and sauteed some yellow squash and zuchinni. LM liked it, well the meat anyway. The latter didnt' turn out too well but he had a few bites.

I am not creative either but I'm trying.

Nilia said...

CC: I know, haven't talked to you in *so long! I'm glad you liked the maple syrup, it's an acquired taste I think. When I first tried it I was surprised at how watery it was and I didn't latch on to the taste right away, but I do enjoy it now and find it hard to have the "pancake syrup" like at restaurants when we go out for breakfast.

Did I tell you yet that the cakepops were a huge hit?!!! I meant to make a practice run but didn't want 50 "practice" cakepops so I took my chances and made the real thing a couple of days before my SILs shower. Theyturned out amazing, and the red interior was *so interesting, everyone loved them, they were tasty, cute and appealing to the eye.

I would make them again but they are *so time-consuming. They do yield a lot, though...

Kristin, apparently that's the 3rd human death that particular orca's been involved in. Will they just put him down, do you think? Release him back (certain death for him, no?)? I have mixed feelings on this. We try to tame nature and then we're surprised when it's unpredictable. But involved in 3 deaths already, I dunno, SeaWorld has some major damage control to consider and it can't do it while keeping this orca.

Ugh. Can I please barge right on in and bitch with no pleasantries? It's rude, I'm sorry. The houseguests from hell, hereafter referred to as HFH aren't even here yet and they've pissed me off badly. Yesterday, she and I are emailing and she says their plane lands at 4:30, so by the time they rent a car and drive the 40 miles over, it might be past our dinnertime. I figure they'll be in around 6:30-7 and tell her it's not a problem. She says that if we get hungry, to go ahead and eat without them. I tell her that's fine because I'm making lasagna (which actually changed to manicotti) and broccoli salad, both of which will keep fine. But I tell her that we typically don't eat until 7 or so anyway. So, 8 rolls around and we've not heard a peep so I text her. You know where those assholes are? They're at a diner having sandwiches and pie because she's "just been craving their chocolate pie for days and couldn't help myself!" Oh, fuck, *yes you can help yourself, you rude bitch. Ugh.

Sorry. I'm just so goddamn mad.
FT, I'm sorry you're sick and hope you lose that bug soon. CC, it's really good to see you.

kristin said...

AP - that sucks and is very rude of them! I hope you told her that!

cupcake said...

FT - Glad the cake pops worked out. I've made them twice and agree that they are so time consuming.

Kristin - I wish I had been more creative when the boys were young. Especially for Jake's sake, he is a picky eater. My excuse is that *I didn't really enjoy food like I do now, so my menu was easy and kid friendly.

cupcake said...

AP - That is so so rude. It looks like they'll be eating manicotti and broccoli salad for breakfast tomorrow. Hell, I'd serve it to them for lunch too!

Nilia said...

AP: I'm sorry if you've been asked this (and answered) before, but why do they want to go to your place for their vacation?

I am *so sorry, please tell me you will have a schedule and stick to it from now on whether or not they show up.

Do you think they'd leave if you made a pass at the wife? Hee hee.

Nilia said...

I like cc's idea of serving them the leftovers until they were gone.

PJ said...

Serve them leftover tongue.

Nilia said...

Yes, CK, but cold. With optional ketchup. And the original skin wrapped around it.

PJ said...

FT,
Oh yeah. With a side of KY Jelly. Since it did look like a penis at one point in time.

Nilia said...

Yes, and served with cherry "tomatos".

Nilia said...

Where is everbody? Watching Canada trounce the Russians?

kristin said...

Hey FT - I did breathing treatment, then played a bit, then colored, then pottied, then read a book, and to bed.

Now I am doing laundry while Olympics is on - then off to clean the kitchen.

ugghhhh....

Are you feeling any better?

PJ said...

I'm shopping for on line for dance canes and a red beret for 4th grade musical.

Red Hot Romeo, and Sunshine Kids.

Can we say that I didn't pick this musical. Really OLD corny crayon color jokes.

kristin said...

Hey CK - how are your kiddos feeling?

Nilia said...

Hey Kristin, I think so but I may have to pick something up to settle my stomach. Feeling a little woozy, hoping to be better by morning, thanks for asking.

How did today's breathing treatment go?

PJ said...

Kristin - they were both back to classes yesterday. Caitlin is keeping food down. Andrew was feeling worse again today.

So, mixed bag.
How long do you need to do treatments with LM?

Caitlin has followup with Physical Rehab doc tomorrow.

kristin said...

breathing treatments are okay!

I have no idea, Friday's follow up was just, increase treatments but he seems to be much better.

CK - glad to hear your daughter is better, has your son been to the doctor?

FT - hope you feel better :( that sucks!

PJ said...

Kristin - I don't know if he's been to the doctor. He kind of does his own thing.

PJ said...

When does LM go back?

kristin said...

I didn't schedule another follow up, but I will probably call them next week.

PJ said...

Good news that he is better.

What's up, ladies?

PJ said...

Hey Bella,
It's really quiet here tonight. I'm doing some stuff for school, and watching women wipe out in the two "man" bobsled. One ejected and sent flying down the track on her back, headfirst. She was making an X with her body. Funny and scary all at the same time.

PJ said...

sent = went

Anonymous said...

I'm doing good, watching a Nat Geo special on nudity, lol.

A bunch of chubby guys and gals in the buff...running around in the forest.

Bella,
Nudity in the U.S? Or other countries?

Anonymous said...

Some US, some UK, it looks like.

Nilia said...

CK: is that you bidding?

Nilia said...

Oh and hi, Bella!

Anonymous said...

Hi FT!

PJ said...

FT - Nope - I've learned to wait until right before the deadline. I'm not staying up that late, so I'm teaching husband all about e-bay. He's going to bid for me.

PJ said...

Bella,
Would those of us who are soft and squishy feel okay about our bodies based on what you're seeing?

Nilia said...

Bella, we were talking earlier about vomiting and CK gave me an unhelpful visual. I thought it might become a new phobia and thought of you...

Anonymous said...

CK, totally.

No models running around nude, that I have seen. Yet, they must blur out crotches, as you and I have never seen a real penis or vagina in real life ::eyeroll::

They started with a Wiccan community, then it was about a Christian group that feels closer to God naked, now they are focusing on a naked religious ceremony in China. It's intersting.

No one is focused on how bodies look...it's sort of refreshing.

Nilia said...

Does anybody else here watch Ghost Whisperer? I am so fascinated with it and I have no idea why.

Anonymous said...

interesting. not intersting.

kristin said...

alright ladies, I'm going to bed.

I am in a foul mood, very irritated but the house is pretty damn clean, everything except one shelving unit is dusted, laundry going and food put away. Oh and trash is out!

I am going to turn on the olympics and read some of my book.

Night all!

Nilia said...

Bella, is that like a documentary? What's it about, like feeling comfortable naked?

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Hi all...

Nilia said...

CK: there's a bid up. I wait until closer to the end too.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Bid up where? I feel left out. I wanna bid?

Nilia said...

Hi BD!

Anonymous said...

Hi BD :)

FT, it's a series called "Taboo" on National Geographic Channel. All about stuff that is not culturally acceptable.

PJ said...

Thanks FT - Can you keep my husband posted for me once I go to bed?

Nilia said...

CK: Sure, email me how I can do that. Do I email?

Nilia said...

Whoops, sorry BD, just checking on some stuff on eBay.

Nilia said...

Bella: sounds interesting. I have an aversion I think to showing that much. Just not comfortable to me plus the germophobia, you know, I mean where do they *sit?

PJ said...

BD,
Olympic Pin - First Host Nation Drum. I teach drumming, and would love to have it to show my students.

How's Fester? Festering?

Nilia said...

Crap CK, it's picking up interest.

PJ said...

FT - just kidding - I'm hoping he can manage it. He's not real internet savvy.

Nilia said...

I figured it would since there are a few identical items which finish later but which already had bids.

Nilia said...

Okay no prob. I love eBay perhaps too much! I put together an awesome fossil collection for my oldest by being patient, collection was built over a few weeks. He's got some amazing pieces there and he was so excited. He takes the pieces out often and rereads the descriptions and so on. I was on there earlier today looking at some more fossils, might buy him a more expensive piece for his bd coming up.

PJ said...

FT,
If I don't get this one, and your contacts aren't able to get one, we'll try for one of the next ones on e-bay. I think there'll be more after that too. These three just came on a day or so ago.

Nilia said...

CK that's what I figured too. Those three weren't on when the last one ended.

Oh and I meant when his birthday comes up, not his belladonna.

PJ said...

How cool - you're a good momma.

Okay, I thought BF was the only place where women were small minded, judgemental, and needed to get a life.

I've been reading some at Moms Like Me (local internet place for moms to hang out). It's the same there.

What is the obsession with all things that just aren't important enough to obsess about?

1st grader leaves sled on the neighbors hill instead of by their garage. And he's a Brat? How about a little boy who just isn't old enough to worry or care or even know exactly what he had to do. Especially since the school bus was waiting for him?

::shaking her head::

PJ said...

FT is my Canadian dealer. Olympic pin dealer, that is.

Nilia said...

CK: haven't been on that site but I know that type of momma well. Her kids are probably the brattiest little shits but she's too busy keeping track of the neighbours kids leaning on her fence, or throwing their ball onto her grass or some such. I have a couple of neighbours like that.

Nilia said...

CK: LOL!

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Fester is festering less, but still festering. My appointment got pushed back to March 1, but I am so happy because for the first time since Halloween, I am pain free. :)

PJ said...

It's shades of Blog Frog all over again....

MLM recent thread - 'Have you ever "faked" your period so u didnt have to have sex with your hubby/SO?'

Anonymous said...

Ladies, I am having some connection issues :(

Goodnight!

PJ said...

Yeah for pain free, BD! Happy BD (that's Happy Belladonna, not Happy Birthday)

PJ said...

The definition of Brat depends on who's kid it is.

PJ said...

Night Bella!

Jennifer-Lynn said...

CK: All I can do is sigh.

This reminds me of a conversation my friend Rose and I had with a born-again Christian in our high school. I have no memory of this, but I apparently told her "if God didn't mean for us to masturbate, he would have made our arms shorter."

Jennifer-Lynn said...

G'night, Bella.

Nilia said...

Googled moms like me and I actually have been on there, didn't ring a bell. I think we get different locations depending where you live. I get the Buffalo chapter but it has an option to change location. I don't see the questions you mentioned, I don't think, I find it a little hard to navigate with so many subsections.

PJ said...

BD,

Ha!

So I have another somewhat off topic question. I believe God/evolution created men to have a strong desire for sex, in order to procreate so that the human race would continue. I mean so many babies/children died "way back then".

But in society for the last one hundred years, it seems like a cruel joke - the guys don't need to be breeding like rabbits in order for the species to survive. But they still have the high sex drive.

PJ said...

Perhaps my lack of understanding the whole mommy blog/social networking phenomena is generational.

When my kids were little, if I needed advice, I would talk to my sister, or my mom, or my friends who had little kids. Or I'd consult with my pediatrician, or read a few quality parenting and child development books I had (T. Berry Brazelton, anyone?)

When I was working PT and then FT, I didn't have time to fuss about the little stuff.

I remember feeling kind of isolated during son's first year (I wasn't working - just studying for CPA exam). But I knew it wouldn't be that way forever.

These moms ask other moms for medical advice.

Nilia said...

CK: it's cult-ish. Scary moms.

PJ said...

FT - it sounds like I'm being judgemental. Lately I try to save that for certain people, or certain people's sheeple.

I don't understand. If any of you younger moms can explain the allure, please do!

PJ said...

Another popular topic:
Is There Such a Thing as Comfy Ballet Flats??

And these ladies seem SO proud when they get a certain number of posts and get to be crowned MLM Queen (or something like that).

Nilia said...

I don't think you are being judgemental. You're calling it like you see it. I haven't been a mother as long as you but I didn't go to strangers for medical advice for my children. I went to a medical source, and very often more than one. The source depended on what I needed to know, and had to be trusted, you know?

PJ said...

I'm wondering if they're lonely?

PJ said...

I'm lonely right now....

Nilia said...

CK, LOL! Wasn't somebody on here singing the I'm Lonely song earlier?

I get the sharing of coupons and such, but other stuff I think they really should have a confidant or sister, or something. Sometimes you can't share stuff with IRL people but most of it is not dire.

PJ said...

FT, that makes sense to me.

It's been fun to chat with you tonight. I'm leaving e-bay in my husband's hands. Have a good day tomorrow.

Nilia said...

Thanks, I'm going to log off here too but I didn't want to leave you talking to yourself!

Goodnight, then.

PJ said...

You're my sweet Canadian dealer, FT. Night.
