I'm back, catching up and thanks for putting my with my little hissy fit up there. They came, they were bored, they left. Someone asked why they come here...the woman is abnormally attached to me. Uncomfortably so, at least on my end. Twice a year, she comes to see me and has for years, bringing her husband with her one of those times a year. Thankfully they stay at a local b&b when he comes. Just going to read along some but CK, I'm sorry you're lonely.

Karen said...

Ohhh I'm soo far behind reading, but wanted to stop in and say hello! I'm sure everyone is in bed - AP hope you are resting up for more company tomorrow - sorry it doesn't sound to be going well, hope tomorrow is better!

Will try to come on during the day tomorrow and say hello - just wanted to let you all know I"m still around!!!

PJ said...

Morning whomever is here. Still lonely....

But FT has truly rocked my world!!! My clever Canadian pin dealer has scored some good stuff.

The olympic collector pin I've been coveting but will not pay $24 for on e-bay!

If you need the goods, put she's quite the supplier.

Off to school for early meeting.

I see Corinne, I see someone from Australia, I see a few others. Have a good day, everyone!

No watching Oprah today, Corinne!

kristin said...

Morning ladies!

Off to work!

Hi CK & Kristin (and whoever else is on)!

Anonymous said...

AP- I'm sorry your HFH are so rude.
I really admire your patience.

kristin said...

Okay - I'm back!

Goona go start the coffee!

***Shutter Island***

It might not be Martin Scorcese's best movie - admittedly, it's hard to top 'The Departed', 'Raging Bull' or 'Taxi Driver'- but it was *very good, nonetheless.

He managed to capture the essence of Dennis Lehane's novel and that is something worth acknowledging.

Leonardo DiCaprio is brilliant, quite simply. He portrays Teddy Daniels wonderfully.

While I wouldn't call the movie scary per se, it does make you feel highly uncomfortable from the first scene up until the very last one.
It actually makes you feel like you are insane; like you are yourself one of those people on Shutter Island. I cannot say more without ruining it.

Overall, I really enjoyed the movie. So much, actually, that I'm going to see it again with my sister tomorrow!

kristin said...

Awesome Corinne!

I need to take a day off and go to a movie one of these days.

Anonymous said...

Kristin- If you do, go see 'Shutter Island'. Definitely!

How are you today?

kristin said...

Tired, irritated and cold but it is one day closer to the weekend.

LM seems to be doing so, so much better and he was in a good mood this morning.

How are you?

Ugh. Blogger is giving me attitude today!

kristin said...

Me too Corinne!

Anonymous said...

Good morning ladies. It snowed last night but at least it's sunny here today.

kristin said...

Hey Sandy!

Cold with ice (on windshields) this morning but it looks to be another beautiful day.

Angie said...

Morning all! I'm not going to have time right now to stay adn chat because I'm on a deadline with a couple of projects, but wanted to stop by and say Hi! AP, I skimmed through to see if you had an update on your HFH and am apalled already by their behavior. Hang in there, hon.

kristin said...

Hey SW! Don't work too hard!

I am feeling particularly unmotivated right now.

Anonymous said...

Hi SW! Hi Sandy!

Kristin- I'm sending you motivation vibes!

kristin said...

I think the lack of motivation comes from the fact that I cleaned my house yesterday. Cloroxed, dusted, swept, vacuumed, did laundry, kitty litter, cooked, emptied and loaded dishwasher, etc.

Oh well. At least my house is clean :)

Anonymous said...

Sandy- Do you sometimes comment on 'under1000braincells'? I see a Sandy and I wondered if it was you!

Kristin- A clean house is what matters! :)

Anonymous said...

No it's not me. I just read and laugh!

Anonymous said...

Sandy- That's what I do, too!
After all, laughter is the best medicine! =)

kristin said...

Any ideas on what to get a 3 year old for a birthday? My friend is having a party Saturday? I will probably end up with trucks, etc. Any ideas?

AP - How long are the HFH staying? I am glad they are staying at a B&B though, for your sake.

I cannot seem to wake up nor get warm this morning :(

Robin in Montana said...

Kristin - trucks are good. I always like a book that's age appropriate with a toy/stuffed animal that corresponds, too. I don't know, I stink at that kind of stuff.

I am going to work until noon, then attack my house, too.

Robin in Montana said...

Oh -- good morning all!

kristin said...

Hey RiM!

How are you feeling today?

I can't seem to wake up, my eyes hurt.

Yeah, I know LM loves trucks so I may go with that. Its safe :)

Robin in Montana said...

I am feeling much better today. I went to bed at 8:30 and didn't get up until about 8:00. Took some Nyquil and actually slept through most of the night. I feel much, much better.

kristin said...

Glad to hear! Ny -quil is awesome!

Why must my fellow co-worker take things off the printer every.damn.time when they don't belong to him. I am printing shit off and will get them when I am done! I sit within reach.

FRUSTRATING!

Okay, rant over!

Robin in Montana said...

Totally aside, I"m going to try making yogurt in my crockpot, maybe today. Supposed to be very easy and very good, and much cheaper. We shall see.

And no, don't worry, I'm not trying to become Emily of under $1000. :-D

suz said...

Hi RiM, homemade yogurt, mmm sounds good, you will have to let us know.
I just peaked in at MWOP, getting a bit snarky in there, GM just showed up and got smacked down..good stuff lol.

kristin said...

Oh good stuff, need to go read MWoP!

Shannon said...

Suz I just saw that myself and laughed a lot watching her get zinged. Serves her right!!

Anonymous said...

Did you save it? It looks like it's gone.

Funny that she comes here each day to sub to comments. Gathering material for Lyrics, GM?

Shannon said...

Dammit the author deleted them...Tried to go back but it didnt work :(

Anonymous said...

I missed them too! Damn.

suz said...

I knew I should have saved them. I don't know why the author deleted them, she was right on. Oh well, I think everyone that spent any time at OHIH and other places knows the truth about that person.

Anonymous said...

Who here is in Fresno, Calif. ?

Anonymous said...

Btw, it's totally out of curiosity. I'm nosy that way!

suz said...

That would be me :P, how did you know??

Anonymous said...

Suz- Ooh. I didn't know.

Ok. Don't laugh but I am a huge fan of the tv series House. And everytime I hear of Fresno, it makes me think of the episode 'Lines in the Sand'. There's a teenage girl who has a crush on House and she gave him a calendar of Fresno with the date of her majority crossed.
At the end of the episode House figures out that she inhaled spores during an earthquake while in Fresno and that's why she's uninhibited.

I know, I know. I have issues :P

Anonymous said...

I love House. And speaking of House, mine is not going to get clean on its own. Wish I had a "self-cleaning" house but alas I don't. lol

kristin said...

Sandy -

I hear ya. I got pissed off yesterday and my house is *almost spotless.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

I love House, and I love Hugh Laurie. Sigh.

Anonymous said...

Sandy- Someone should *really work on inventing a robot with housekeeping skils!

Bd- I love House. I'll leave you Hugh Laurie, though!
I think the writers of that show are geniuses.

kristin said...

I used to watch House but don't anymore.

Hey BD - how is Fester? How are A & M? LOL - I went to A&M - anywho...getting back to work :)

suz said...

Corinne, you are too funny! I like House but have not seen that episode.
Sandy I do not have a self cleaning house either. When I am done working during the week I go to my other job, maid of the house of suz. I am not well compensated at that job either!

Anonymous said...

<----- wishes she had engineering skills to really start working on that robot.

kristin said...

Ya know, I have no problem cleaning other people's homes. I just have a big problem with mine, I just lack motivation in that arena.

Anonymous said...

Ladies, it was fun hanging with you all but Plato and his 'Symposium' are waiting for me.

Gosh, this is gonna be so much fun! Lol

See you tomorrow!

kristin said...

bye corinne! Have a good one! Don't have too much fun!

suz said...

Bye Corinne, have a good evening!

Anonymous said...

Bye Corinne!

I don't get paid very well either Suz. I swear I pick up the same freakin' matchbox car 50 times a day.

Anonymous said...

I just got paid for laundry! $1.14 is all mine.

suz said...

Whoo hoo Sandy! You got a raise didn't you? lol.

Anonymous said...

Looks like it and I didn't have to grovel either!

Anonymous said...

New post up at MWOP. Very interesting.

kristin said...

Very quiet in here today! Hope everyone is okay!

Shannon said...

Ya know what really sucks is when you have no income beyond the penance you get from unemployment and in your community there are 6 different places to get low income medical help and you get told you dont make enough to be seen.

It just makes me grouchy because I would really like to see if there is anything I can do or get to help with my migraines and that would be a big fat NO because I dont have enough income.

kristin said...

That sucks Shannon! No bueno!

Alright ladies, I'm outta here!

See ya later!

Anonymous said...

That stinks Shannon!

Shannon said...

Yeah it does suck but I guess I will continue doing what I have done for years and just deal with it. I cannot wait till I am done with school and can actually afford to get insurance or even have it offered by an employer LOL

Shannon said...

I did get good news today though. Even though I must drive the 45+ minutes to Salem to actually take my test for my math class...I learned today that we are able to have a sheet of notes so I dont have to panic that I cant remember all of the formulas and stuff.

kristin said...

Shannon - have you looked into insurance through the school? I did that when I first went to A&M about 6 years ago. Just a thought!

Shannon said...

They have a clinic you can go to there at the campus but when I transfer to my 4 year college it is one of the things I have been looking into so that I can be insured for a while. Yeah unfortunately the community college I am at right now doesnt offer off campus insurance options :(

Nilia said...

My SIL is in labour right now! She started labour early this a.m. but they sent her home again and then she went back and we're just waiting to hear word!

kristin said...

awesome FT! Hope all goes well! Do you know what she is having?

Anonymous said...

That's so exciting FT...is it her first baby?

kristin said...

I'm missing RiM, SW and AP! :(

kristin said...

and CK!

Oh, AP says send pork STAT!

Where is everyone?

kristin said...

Hey Christy! How are you?

Shannon said...

How exciting FT...hope she has a nice easy labor

PJ said...

FT - yeah for active labor! No going back now...

Is this your brother's wife, or your husband's sister?

PJ said...

Makin' bacon for AP....

kristin said...

Hey CK! How are you?

PJ said...

Kristin - I'm good but tired. Busy week at both jobs, plus some church stuff.

How are you?

Anonymous said...

Kristin, I saw your post for gift ideas for a three year old.

Hands down, the best gift is.....walkie talkies. Kids love them!!! And, I think at three if you found basic ones, he could totally work it, too.

How is everyone :) About to dig into some salsa chicken. Be back soon!

Anonymous said...

Hi Kristin. Not too much going on here. Loved your blog post yesterday...it was cute.

kristin said...

hee hee! Yeah, pretty uninspired.

Bella - dammit! Already got something but that is an AWESOME idea. Maybe I will go back tomorrow and see if I can find something at wal-mart.

I had Lindsey's soup and it was good, I think I need to add a bit more spice. LM ate the chicken and the cheese! I didn't think I would like all the beans but I really enjoyed it! And the chicken is great, I put 5 breasts in so I could eat more later!

Nilia said...

This SIL is the wife of my brother (the lawyer, I've talked about him a few times), my only sibling. And it is their first, I am SO excited! I do have 12 nephew/nieces on my husband's side but this is the first on my side! Will be first grandchild on SIL's side, 3rd on my side.

I *truly think (hope) it's a boy. I think they know it so I'm going on weird clues and signals and such. God I hope it's a boy, I have a huge box upstairs wrapped and ready to go filled with boy stuff. Yup, it's gonna be a boy, that's how sure I am of it!

PJ said...

Gimme a B, gimme an O, gimme a Y

All for FT!

PJ said...

Keep us posted, FT.

Say, Bella, was it you who suggested the dog toys the other evening? The tough ones that dogs can't destroy in 10 minutes?

kristin said...

OMG! I just had a heart attack. I could not find my camera. I looked everywhere.

Finally found it. My little munchkin put it in his nebulizer box - little stinker!

Anonymous said...

CK, yep :) Did you get them in the mail? Did your pup shred them!?

PJ said...

Bella,
They came in the mail today - no shredding yet. We bought him two of the mini ones and put one away for now. Thanks for the recommendation!

Anonymous said...

I'm glad he didn't destroy it yet! I tell you, those last the longest at our house as a "soft" toy.

Shannon said...

LOL I am soooo not doing good with thinking about changing my diet around but then again I have to wait till grocery day next week before I can get better food in the house.

Last night we had mashed taters and country fried steak with lots of sausage gravy.....tonight bite sized chicken fried steaks, biscuits, and lots of sausage gravy again.

HAHAHA no wonder why my muffin top is exploding.

Lindsay said...

Hi all! Hope everyone had a good day.

Kristin - glad you liked it. We had it for dinner tonight, too.

Yay FT to be a new auntie!

Shannon - I wanna move in with you and eat chicken fried steaks and gravy. Yummmm.

PJ said...

Our household has an interesting version of Pavlov's Classical Conditioning.

Husband shaking the martini shaker vigorously brings the dog running.

Why, you may ask?

Because, along with my foo-foo martini, I usually eat a small 1 oz bag of Cheetos (to enforce portion control). My dog loves most food items (garbage hound, he is), but he seems to especially love all things crunchy and salty - popcorn, nuts, and yes, Cheetos.

So martini shaker noise brings about Pavlovian response in tiny dog of German heritage.

Shannon said...

HAHA that is too funny CK....right now Tyr is in the kitchen "helping" daddy eat his chex mix stuff while dinner is cooking.

PJ said...

Shannon - oh yeah, I bet daddy needs "help" with that.

Shannon said...

you know it.....that little dog is more than willing to help with anything that involves food.

He should honestly be a 90lb 2 foot tall dog.

Anonymous said...

On the subject of dogs, does anyone know why a dog would get bald spots?

Oz has these little baldy patches on his sides and top. No food change, the area where he is bald is not inflamed, nor does he itch. He just has hair loss. He has *very short hair to begin with.

I'm not quite sure it warrants a trip to the vet, as he's not ill. Jay says he has "Dog Pattern Baldness".

It's just odd.

Shannon said...

I know that Tyr has a couple of spots that had been scabs that are bald right now. If Oz isnt out playing rough with his buddies then I dont know why he would be loosing hair like that.

I would probably take him in just to make sure it isnt some type of parasite or skin problem. Sometimes things like that can start small and become something much worse.

Anonymous said...

Sigh, you are probably right, Shannon. He does play rough when his doggie buds come over, but it's been awhile since he has seen them.

I'll put a vet appointment on my list of things to do :/

Robin in Montana said...

CK -- Do tell about your foofy martini.

FT - I hope you have a beautiful new nephew by the next time you report back here.

Sandy -- your laundry job is better than mine. I made $0.25 and a bra underwire today.

Bella -- I do not know. If it's not inflamed or "hot" or anything? Although I do know about strapping kotex pads to the side of a horse's head with brightly colored vet wrap I am, sadly, not almost a vet.

Shannon -- that sucks with the insurance. Oregon sucks ass in general with regards to insurance.

Kristin - I'm glad you liked the soup. We had the ol' fraziole tonight, which as weird and wrong as it feels when I'm making it, never fails to get rave reviews 'round these parts. (I had cabbage diet soup with chicken, but still.) Shannon, I feel your pain in teh trying to eat better. Frickin' gravy will be the death of me yet.

In a total aside, if you were the "new" boy/girlfriend in a relationship (and this is not referring to me, so be totally honest) and you were giving cash to your new boy/girlfriend's 9-year old, what amount do you feel is appropriate?

Robin in Montana said...

Oh. To clarify. The question about money is in regard to a birthday present for a 9-year old. Cash.

Anonymous said...

Hi RiM :)

Is it the 9 year old's birthday? Why are you giving money? I would say around $20? Maybe I am cheap, but a 9 year old should be cheaper than a teenager :D

No hot spots. Just normal skin under the bald areas. No itching or anything out of the ordinary. I started giving him Fish Oil softgels...he likes to poke a hole in them with his tooth and drink the stinky stuff out. Gross.

kristin said...

hmmmm.....I would say $15.00 - $20.00 but can this person ask the significant other how much is too much?

Nilia said...

For some cousin's kids I give $50. Some I give $100, because we started high and they reciprocated and then I kind of got stuck (and I guess they did too). I think $50 is generous.

No baby news yet!

And thanks for all your good wishes!

Oopsie Daisy said...

** new post **

I slipped away for a bit. Will try to be back later.

Just shoot me.

kristin said...

Totally off topic - but did you see the found the body of the actor (from Growing Pains) in Vancouver. It appears he committed suicide. Such a shame!

Makes me think of Amy - hi Amy, hope you and your family are doing well!

Nilia said...

Whoops, maybe I went a little high. That's what we give and what they give back too, it's hard to keep track of sometimes, but that's how we've done it. I've done gift cards too, or if I find a really great sale item I think they'll like I'll do a gift + some money or gift card.
