I see we are replacing Shannon with a designer model. Welcome, Tammi! (was the the way Tammi spells her name? Waaay too lazy to go back and look and waaay too brain dead to remember).

Muliebrity said...

the=that one of them, anyway

Lisa said...

Yeah, she's Tammi. And we aren't replacing Shannon, we're subbing for her!

Well, I just learned a very important FB lesson. Never assume. I have a fairly new friend I got from a gaming forum...nice woman...we've exchanged little notes about our farms and such. I kept looking at her picture, which is 2 women, one appearing older than the other, and a baby. So, I asked her if that was her, her daughter and grandbaby. Well, she's 33, and that's her best friend and her niece. Fuck me...lol.

Muliebrity said...

I am sure she thought you were a baby in a walker, AP, so I wouldn't be too concerned.

Lisa said...

Oh, that's true.

*sucks on my little red pacifier and looks innocent*

Karen said...

She was 33 and you thought she was a grandma?? Yikes you better suck on that pacifier to keep you from putting your foot in there again!! haha!!

Hi Daisys! Still busy getting ready for my yard sale - its gonna be 92 degrees on Friday - can't wait to sit in that heat and sell all my crap!! NOT!

Friday night I'm going to a jewelry party, which I hate going to those home parties, but this is at my best friends from HS and another best friend from HS will be there as well, and all 3 of our mom's are coming too! It will be like a mini reunion. The three of us were best friends from 7th grade on... I can't wait to see them! and their moms!

Lisa said...

Oh, the party sounds like fun, Karen!

And yes, I did. I feel awful. I didn't even lie to her...I just apologized profusely, told her I was an idiot with bad eyesight (true on both counts) and hoped she accepted that. She did, laughed and said she hopes to be both a mom and grandma someday. Graceful lady, she is.

92 sucks. I hope you get a lot of people to make it worth it!

Erin said...

No one can replace Shannon! Hope she is back soon.

AP- just tell her you got new glasses and they are all wonky. Not even a lie!

Karen- hope you make lots of $$. It is going to be around 100 here. Again. For the billionth day in a row.

Karen said...

Yea I hope I make lots of money too - but I'm most excited about having things cleaned out and organized and no extra "junk" that I will have to move to a new apartment!

NOPE - nobody can replace Shannon! But welcome Tammi! Any friend of AP's is a friend of mine!

Good morning - Hey Jill!!! I love your Richard updates on FB - by the way.

I have quite a few rainbow pics from our trips to Anguilla (island in the Caribbean). We also had a huge rainbow after our tornado-warning-thunderstorm-event the other night.

Another f-ing hot day here in the mid-Atlantic region today.

AP - keeping an eyeball on that thing in the Bahamas, I love tracking them.

Lauren has a sleepover at the summer camp she has been attending - I hope she makes it through the night!

Good morning - nothing much going on here.

Deb said...

Hi Margaret - love that avatar!

Anonymous said...

Thank you Deb - I, like Mary Catherine, fall a lot and expose my big white undies.

Muliebrity said...

Good morning, lovelies. I am debating on taking Muliette to the doc today, because I saw some blood in her poo again last night and her face looks like the before picture in a Proactive ad. I can just not afford the formula they are going to say to start her on. I think I am going to bitch at my insurance company this morning to see what they say about the formula. I know they covered it in the past, but now they are saying they won't.

Deb said...

Mulie - I would call the insurance company again for sure, but if that formula is what the doctor says will help your baby keep blood out of her stool, then by God I would find a way to afford it.

Robin in Montana said...

Mulie - I agree with Deb, I'd figure out whatever you have to do to get it for her. Sorry little Muliette is having such a rough go! That's no fun for any of you. :(

Shannon said...

Good morning ladies.....I am not officially back yet but I have stolen my roommates computer while they are gone for the weekend so hopefully I can be on a little bit.

Have I ever mentioned that I love my laptop and I have really missed it??!!

It should finally be getting fixed this weekend or this next week....I need it. Can you believe that I have had minimal contact with the internet world period for two weeks now?

It makes me crazy not being on here all day but I guess I have done slightly more around the house....ok not really :)

I miss you guys a ton and let's keep our fingers crossed that I will get to make this more of a normal thing in the next week or so.

Hello there EL :)

See I really didnt die

Deb said...

Shannon!!!! Welcome back - we need a Mikala update too!

Robin in Montana said...

Shannon! You live!

Erin said...

I am so glad to see you!! Damn computers. Keeping our friends from us. Hmph.

Shannon said...

Hi Deb.

Well last week she gave us quite a scare. Her incisions areas were extremely red and she was itchy like nobodys business. Took her in worried that it could be an infection. Doctor said it wasnt an infection but he couldnt explain the extreme redness and itching.

My incredibly smart husband suggested it could be a reaction to the vicodine so I had her stop taking it. Within two days she was no longer so red or itchy so he was right on the money.

Other then that she is doing awesome. Healing is going great. She is quite happy with the size that she is right now and is so extatic that some of the clothes she had before that didnt fit are now fitting perfectly.I will have to see about finding a before pic and get an after pic just so you all can see how much more proportionate she is now.

Erin said...

So glad to hear she is doing well. Does her back feel so much better too?

Shannon said...

Robin I may be a zombie but I do live LOL

EL I am tellin ya I have been so ticked off lately because of having so many issues. In mean shit first it was no internet due to peeps not paying the bill...then my power connection went ppppfffftttt....then Mikala's laptop decided it didnt like the internet anymore.....FRUSTRATING!!!!

Oh and I have to leave in a while because Mikala has a follow up appt today

Shannon said...

She hasnt had back pain since she had the surgery. She has only had one headache. I think I can safely say that this surgery has already impacted her life for the better.

Muliebrity said...

Shannon!!!! I was convinced you were being replaced and you had gone off and joined that super secret group that all of our other missing members left for!

Shannon said...

LOL Nope not that Mulie

I had gremlins infest all computers I had access to and with their annoying tricks I couldnt even get online.

We could almost say I was kidnapped by the real world :)

Erin said...

That is good to hear. And good that insurance companies cover this. In years past they never would have. Think of how much better she is *because of the procedure.

How is your weather? Still cool-ish? It is a freaking heat pit here.

Tammi said...

Desinger model? Hot damn, I am getting bumper stickers made!

Lisa...bahahahahahahaha we have all done that.

Hi Karen! And thanks!

And Mulie...blood in the stool? I wouldn't mess with that..I would go right in. Poor thing...:(

Shannon said...

Erin I am so greatful that insurance companies now see that by doing reductions and such they are saving themselves probably millions over the long run.

Our weather has been freakish the last few weeks. The week the laptop shit on me we pushed 100 degree weather. Then we went back to 70's and 80's....well this weekend will once again be pushing the 100's....I HATE AFRICA HOT (trying to imitate my friend)

Shannon said...

Hi Tammi....I saw on this post everyone giving you a big hello :)

Erin said...

Hello Tammi!

Shannon- I hear you on kidnapped by the real world! By the time I get a minute to myself it is around 1 am. Thank goodness for FB. I feel like I know what is going on (mostly).

I will be back though promise!!!

Deb said...

Shannon - I'm glad it was just the medication. I really hope she has found relief thru this procedure.

T@iy@ said...

SHANNON! Hi! Glad that the itchies were nothing big. :) Sorry about the computer stuff. I am pretty much only online when Eeq is eating, and then I am one handed, so not much gets done!

Wait a minute. How come I haven't heard of this super secret group?

::pouts::

Actually a super secret group sounds fun! Someone start one and let us know! lol. Wait.. then it wouldn't be super secret. Sigh. I am hardly stealthy. am I?

Mulie- sorry about the babes! Hope you can get her in to the pedi today and find out what is up.

So... Eeq is sleeping, R is painting, and Mommy has her hands free for a few minutes! I even managed to get a batch of peach/blueberry jam thrown together. Woot!

So funny story. We went camping this last weekend and I was a good kid and remembered to find the SPF 50 sunblock so I wouldnt burn to a crisp. Well the first night I discovered that I had burned the shit out of myself. Next morning I looked at the bottle only to discover that the stupid stuff expired in 02/07. Let me tell ya I have not been this colored since I was a child. Something happened in my late teens where I went from having the skin of an Native American to being straight up Irish LOL

Robin in Montana said...

Where'd you go camping, Shannon?

Sorry about the sunburn. I *fried my face last weekend, in spite of sunblock and I am paying the price this week with leprosy galore.

Shannon said...

We went to Bedrock campground up Fall Creek....it is an awesome place with some of the most fabulous pools for swimming and rock jumping.

Robin in Montana said...

AP - Don't know how authentic this is in terms of "real" Asian food, but this was on a blog I read today and they look really good! (Side note: This woman farms her own shrimp, which in and of itself I find kind of cool)

Lisa said...

Oh, yay! Look at everyone in here chatting up a storm. :-) Shannon, hurry up and get your ass back for good. Glad Mikala is doing well, too.

And Mulie, if your baby has bloody stool, why in the world would you debate about taking her to the doctor? I mean seriously now. I'm sorry if this makes you mad but shit, you've been affording $28 a gallon for goat's milk, you have the money to send a gift to someone you don't even know because she's got a brain tumor, you can afford a Coach diaper back, a designer piece of foam, a fairly new house but you are putting off having her baby's bloody stool and painful tummy issues rectified because you can't afford special formula? *Really? Well, alrighty, then.

Lisa said...

*bag, not back. Sorry, I'm worked up.

Ooh! Twice in one day! Back from a walk and I have one napping girl and one eating girl. :)

So.. Shannon. Have you ever watched Scrubs? There is this episode where Ted is in the Bahamas and he puts and inch think layer of sunblock on his face and his skin sucks it in. Then later he hasn't applied it yet and someone says "Live a little, Ted" So he walks out of the shade for 10 seconds and turns around lobster-red. That? is me. With sunblock. :D Sorry you got burnt, but I feel your pain!

Melissa said...

Well then. I want to make something (food related) after work but don't know what. Any suggestions?

T@iy@ said...

Taiya - what book?

Melissa - you mean like dinner? Or a snack? Dessert? What?

And I guess we're all just ignoring the elephant in the room? (to borrow She Who Shall Not Be Named's pet phrase)

Anonymous said...

I read Duma Key while in Sanibel - strange story.

Robin in Montana said...

I'm reading a J.A. Jance "Dead"-something or other on the treadmill in the morning since I keep being too lazy to go to the post office to see if my new Netflix has shown up. I'm kind of about halfway sucked into the story. Not great, but not horrible, either.

Anonymous said...

RQ - what are your feeling about the mosque being built near ground zero? I don't see what the big deal is.

Melissa said...

I'm thinking something sweet but I'm not sure. I just can't decide.

I've got chicken boobs taken out for dinner. I think I might try PW's chicken pasta thing that she posted about yesterday. (I think it was yesterday!)

Melissa said...

Margaret-A friend posted that RQ on Facebook the other day. Only she said that it was being built "on" ground zero. I haven't read anything about it so I'm ignorant on the subject.

Robin in Montana said...

Melissa - I saw that and it looked decent. I'm kind of starting to side with AP, though, in that not many things I've made of PW's recipes really shine for me. Pound those chicken boobs out thin and make piccata.

Sweet? Hmmm, thinking. I have rhubarb in the freezer and I keep kind of craving a rhubarb crisp or cobbler or something.

T@iy@ said...

It's by ground zero.

Heather Graham Ghost Shadow, RiM- my mom passed it on

Robin in Montana said...

Or marsala. Yummmm.

Not sure what's for dinner here tonight. We were going to grab some sandwiches and celebrate the last kid-free night by going to the lake and baking up some sun, but seeing as how the wind is about to blow the house over and it's raining sidewise while lightning and thundering, I guess that's out.

T@iy@ said...

Nah, RiM... go anyway! lol

Melissa said...

I also kind of agree with AP about PW. I've tried a few of her recipes and I haven't been in love with any of them. Maybe it's operator error. I was really disappointed in her gravy recipe. Or maybe I should say I was disappointed in my interpretation of her gravy recipe. Then again gravy and I have a love/hate relationship. I like it but have great difficutly making it.

I don't know that I know what piccata is, I'll google it though.

Melissa said...

Funny, we'er celebrating night one of being kid free. Hubs likes marsala-I could go that route if I don't come up with anything else.

Anonymous said...

Chicken boobs :)

Anonymous said...

Melissa - how many children do you have?

Robin in Montana said...

Melissa - piccatta is pounded thin chicken boobs, dredged in flour, fried in olive oil/butter. Removed. Then add some lemon juice, white wine (and/or chicken broth) to the pan and scrape up all the bits and let it reduce down a bit. Add some capers. Few slices of lemon. Throw the chicken back in and let it do its thing for a couple minutes. Remove, serve over pasta, or rice, or just plain. You can also add garlic and/or sliced mushrooms iffen you want.

Robin in Montana said...

Oh. And butter. Forgot to say add butter to the lemon juice/wine/broth mixture.

Melissa said...

Margaret-We have 2-one of each.

Ew, capers! Aside from the nasty capers piccata sounds like something we'd like.

Melissa said...

Taiya-I meant to tell you that your new avatar is cute.

Robin in Montana said...

What gravy recipe did she post, Melissa? I missed it.

Melissa said...

She didn't post it RiM-it was in her cookbook. The one she puts on her "coutnry fried steak". I'm sure she uses it on other stuff too.

T@iy@ said...

Thanks, Melissa! :P

Melissa said...

Gusgirl-Hi! What part of the country are you in?

Robin in Montana said...

Ah, I see. I don't have her cookbook, but I can (unfortunately) make a mean gravy on my own.

Melissa said...

Really, it shouldn't be difficult to make gravy. For some reason I have a hard time getting the milk/cream:flour ratio right. Maybe I shouldn't eyeballing it and I should just measure or something.

Muliebrity said...

Well, AP, you made me laugh, because it sounds kind of dumb of me when you lay it out like that. You forgot to mention the Ugg boots and the ridiculously expensive Phil&Teds stroller...

This is the 3rd kid that has had this problem, so I already know what the doctor is going to say, and I have already been doing all that nonsense (eliminating dairy, eggs, soy and nuts from my diet). The blood itself is very minimal and looks almost like a speck of blood you would see in your snot after you blow your nose (not a pretty picture, I know). I have seen the equivalent of 2 specks in 3-4 days, so I have been on alert for more, or symptoms that it's something else (ie: fever, vomiting, etc).

If it were massive amounts of blood I would be freaking the eff out. I am just praying that it doesn't end up being more because it is difficult to cook all my food from scratch, bottle feed, pump milk, and care for a home and 3 kids. So it's not just the money, it's everything that goes along with it.

I, of course, could find a way to afford the formula and I have been checking ebay and craigslist just in case. I took her in today just to get the problem documented, so I can try and get the insurance to cover the formula if the problem continues. The formula is almost double the cost of traditional formula and the *problem with babies, is that they just keep consuming more and more, so while the formula would fit in the budget shot term, it would kill us long term.

Muliebrity said...

And, I am also an idiot that can't do math in the middle of the night and miscalculated the cost of the goat's milk. It was *only $14 a gallon. ;-)

Lisa said...

Hi, Gusgirl, it's nice to meet you and Margaret's charms *are pretty, aren't they? :-)

I'm in Melissa's boat about food. I laid out a frozen package of generic, thin sirloin steaks...maybe a stir fry is in my future.

What book, Taiya? I'll keep reading in case I've not gotten to it yet, though. Oooh, I hope it's a mystery.

Robin in Montana said...

Mulie - well, shoot, you're no fun. I was hoping you'd tell AP to go fuck herself or something! :-D

It does make more sense when you lay it out the way you have now, because I'd venture a guess there were more than just AP (me included in that number) who were seeing it the way she did.

Lisa said...

Well, Mulie, I sure hope you get it all settled for her.

Muliebrity said...

And now she just had blood again, so I running her diaper up to the hosp to be analyzed.

Robin in Montana said...

<---senses some sarcasm...

Lindsay said...

Hi!

This Florida book talk makes me wonder if any of you read Carl Hiaasen. I heart him and have to chime in on all convos related to books!

Gusgirl - do I remember you from somewhere? (That sounds either rude or creepy, and I don't mean it either way!!!) Hi!

Gusgirl said...

Melissa - I'm a Southern girl.

And the only way I can make decent gravy is to measure. I use a recipe from Betty Crocker's New Cookbook that uses 2 tablespoons of fat (butter, oil, etc.) to 2 tablespoons of flour and 1 cup of liquid (broth, water, etc.) and seasonings to taste. If I use milk I use 1/2 milk and 1/2 broth or water.

Lisa said...

Sarcasm from who? Me or Mulie?

Lisa said...

Well, I'll own it.
I make gravy from packages.

Lisa said...

Oh, except for shit on a shingle...make gravy that homemade. Otherwise, I'm all over the Great Value gravy mixes. :-D

Robin in Montana said...

Mulie. With regard to having the poop analyzed. Kind of ruined the first answer for me.

Oh well.

I never measure gravy. Throw some flour in the oil/butter/whatever leftover from frying and some salt and pepper. Eyeball to see how thick it is and let it cook down and then just slowly pour milk in, stirring constantly and letting cook until it's as thick as I want. Done.

twirldawg said...

I don't make a whole lot from scratch. I do make crockpot yogurt weekly and made muffins the other day, but other than that everything comes from a box or packet.
No wonder I've gained 20lbs in the past year.

Robin in Montana said...

I make gravy from pacakges, too. Or will add a package in to what I have to stretch it out.

<----has no gravy shame.

Lisa said...

Hey, Jill or anyone, how do you make crockpot yogurt?

Robin in Montana said...

Ooohhh, crockpot yogurt. I forgot about that. Need to make that again.

T@iy@ said...

I love Hoot from Carl Hiiasen! I know it's a teen book. lol

Heather Graham, Ghost Shadow, AP. It's apparently a 3 part series... who knew? <y Mom just gave it to me to read. It's about.. wait for it... GHOSTS! And a serial killer.

Robin in Montana said...

AP- go to that year of crockpotting site or whatever it's called and search yogurt. That's how I made mine, although I did end up adding a package of sugar free pudding in when you stir the yogurt in,just to thicken it up. I had better luck with 1% milk than 2%, oddly enough. Very, very easy, just a matter of timing.

Melissa said...

Maybe that's my issue-I add the flour and then just dump an equal amount of milk in there. Most times it ends up too thin so I throw another handful of flour in there. That begins the vicious cycle. At the end of it all I have 5 pounds of gravy.

Do you use a cast iron pan or just a regular one?

T@iy@ said...

We rarely eat gravy. When we do it's from a jar.

KaytieJ said...

Shannon!!! WooHoo - dang I missed ya! And darn it all, I LIKED the rumor that you and are were out of action due to Voodoo Donut coma LOL! So glad to hear Mikala is doing well.

Mulie - sorry to here Muliette is having a hard time with her bowels. I hope they figure out what the problem and the solution is quick.

Hello Gusgirl!

On Ground Zero: sure why not? Build a buddhist temple, jewish temple, etc. there while they are at it. They can make it the religious Epcot Center of the World right there. A reminder that we all live in this world together.

Lindsay said...

Taiya - read some of his other books, too. They are a "hoot", too. hahahaha. But he is super funny even if I am not.

Robin in Montana said...

Melissa - Normally a cast iron pan, but just because if I'm frying something like hamburger or chicken fried steak or whatever to make gravy, that's what it'd be in. You have to let that flour/butter/oil mixture cook down a little bit (stirring it all the time) to make like a really smooth paste and you need to make sure you have enough when you start to make all the gravy becuse it's always hard to stir flour in later. For stuff like chicken/turkey gravy where you don't make it with milk, same thing, only with broth, not milk. I would say I add way more liquid than flour.

Lindsay said...

Alright, back to lurkdom I go :) And the laundry is a-callin'. See you guys later!

T@iy@ said...

I have had a couple of his books (my grandma lives in FL) but I couldn't get into them.. I will have to check them out again.

Lisa said...

OOoh, thanks for the link and the book suggestion, Taiya. I jotted it down and will get it.

I *love* Kaytie's idea about what to build, too. I have no issue with the mosque on it's own except that it's in sort of poor taste, I guess.

And now for my stupid question of the day and yes, I know I could Google but what, exactly, is Yorkshire Pudding?

PJ said...

Lurking.....

Melissa said...

Sorry to keep buggin' you about gravy RiM! When I've made my gravy in my cast iron it ended up tasting like metal which was not yummy. What did I do wrong?

Gusgirl said...

Lindsay - Not rude or creepy. I don't "recognize" you, but that doesn't mean we haven't crossed paths before.

AP - Great Value packets are used here regularly, too, but sometimes I just got to have it like mama used to make.

Melissa - I usually use just a regular pan. Although I do *own an iron skillet. I should have also added that I usually double the amts, depending on how many folks I'm feeding.

Lisa said...

CK and Christy!! Awww, this is nice.

Robin in Montana said...

Melissa -- Hmmm, I don't know... How well seasoned is your castiron? You can make it in any pan, though, including like a le creuset or nonstick or just regular old stainless steel pan, whatever.

PJ said...

Our network is down today at work, so I can be on the internet, but not on the servers. Sniff.

PJ said...

Hi Christy - Hi AP.

PJ said...

Hi newbies.

Melissa said...

It's a well seasoned pan-I use it for frying chicken, making country fried steak, baked beans and who knows what else.

Lisa said...

CK, does that mean you can play here since you can't do work?

I really, really need to get up and get busy. Deb, I love tracking storms, too. This one doesn't seem like it's going to give us much but for a little sorely needed rain. Id be up for just a little excitement, though, if it wanted to change plans.

Robin in Montana said...

Huh. Well, that I do not know ... That's odd. Nothing else tastes like metal?

KaytieJ said...

Melissa - I have those troubles, too with gravy. And I love me some gravy. Seems to be hit or miss with the lump factor.

Whelp. I chickened out. Still brown and two inches shorter. Next time I should go in drunk and just tell them to whack it off :-D

Melissa said...

Nope, nothing else has the metallic taste to it. I may have to try making gravy in that pan again, just to make sure it wasn't a fluke.

AP-from Wiki:

Yorkshire pudding is cooked by pouring a thin batter made from flour, eggs, butter, milk and seasoning into a preheated greased baking tin containing very hot fat or oil and baking at very high heat until it has risen and browned. It is then served in slices or quarters, depending on the size of the tray in which it was cooked.

In recent years, it has become more popular to cook them in batches in bun tins (baked in muffin trays or baking tins like popovers), making individual mini puddings.

Lisa said...

Heh, Kaytie said "whack it off".

*takes my 12 year old self off to do some laundry*

KaytieJ said...

Christy - My baby days are long over, but I found the idea of making your own formula very interesting. Thank you for sharing!

Melissa said...

Stay and play, CK!!!

KaytieJ said...

We'd rather have you play here, too, CK :-D Good to see you!

Hey Daisies!
Pulled out of lurkdom by the food conversation. I don't do homemade gravy, the hubs does. Not a big gravy fan anyway.
Margaret!! OMG! I love Yorkshire pudding! We have it once a year with prime rib, usually for Christmas dinner. No gravy with it though.
AP, Yorkshire pudding is good. Hard to explain the taste though. Just yum. When your prime rib is done, you take it out to rest, pour the batter in with the drippings from the meat and it all bakes together, but does not come out greasy tasting. I put Worchestershire sauce on mine.
Hello to all the daisies! Hope everyone is well.

Hi Suz! Old Home Week, huh?

Lindsay said...

Awww. Suz :) I still want to drink you up! Thought of you at a tequila bar the other night. Many Don Julio's to choose from. ♥

Melissa said...

I think that I might do snickerdoodle blondies tonight. I saw a recipe a couple weeks ago online somewhere and it's been on the fridge since then.

suz said...

Hi CK! Yes, I guess it is :0) I have work to do as well but found my way here instead.

KaytieJ said...

Melissa! OMG - I am HOWLING at your response at being a Weiner of AP's contest! Too funny!

T@iy@ said...

AP- I rather like Heather Graham. She is not a thought-provoking author by any means, but a nice bit of mystery, and a pretty decent author.

Looks like a storm is a'brewing around here. It is getting pretty messy outside. Going to check the radar...

No, I seriously had to take a freshly produced diaper with a *speck of blood in it to the hosp. See my previous doc just took my word for it, but this doctor wants it analyzed with in 15 minutes of it's "arrival." They couldn't just scrape the bloody part off. Nope. I got Hunter out of bed, all 3 kids buckled in, drove up to the hosp, got all 3 out, 2 buckled into the stroller, power walked through the parking lot, through the hosp, handed over the diaper, just to be told it wasn't a large enough sample and it was too soaked in. Their solution? Line every diaper with plastic wrap until I finally get one that has blood in it.

suz said...

Linds! Miss you girl! Try Don Julio 1942. I think that is what it is, super smooth vanilla finish..so good!

KaytieJ said...

Hello Suz!

Melissa said...

Kaytie-Glad I could make you laugh! I used to always say that to my parents after a drama or chorus or dance show in high school. It was the first thing that came to my mind.

KaytieJ said...

Mulie - What a pain to go through :-( I'm sorry.

Lindsay said...

Suz, would that be the one that's like $24 a shot? Probably :)

SUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ - my love!

I make my yorkshire puddings in muffin cups. It's a bread but not a bread and not a pudding.

KaytieJ said...

Margaret - Every time I see you now I think of that SNL skit and see bloomers :-D

Muliebrity said...

When I make gravy, I make it with milk and it turns out awesome. I add a little milk, a little flower, a little milk, a little flower. I keep it on the runny side, because it always thickens up as it cools. I have also used white wine or bisquick, just for something different. I haven't made any gravy in ages though.

Anonymous said...

Oh lordy, Mulie. I'm sorry you're having a rough time with the little one.

Melissa said...

I'm sorry that Muliette is having problems. My son had reflux-like issues when he was a couple of months old. After having all sorts of tests etc he ended up on Nutramigen(sp). He finally outgrew it. Hopefully your doctor will be able to determine what's causing her issues.

Anonymous said...

KJ - did you get your hair done?

Muliebrity said...

I forgot to mention that it is 98 degrees here, so that made the diaper run even more enjoyable.

suz said...

Hey KaytieJ !

twirldawg said...

Sorry, I had to go and watch last night's Degrassi so I could be caught up for tonight's.

I like teen drama, whatever.

Crockpot yogurt- use the Crockpot 365 site's recipe. Add vanilla pudding when you add the yogurt cultures.
I purchased some ziplock containers that are about 1 cup in size. When I scoop out the yogurt I put a little frozen fruit on the bottom and scoop the yogurt into individual containers.

PJ said...

My recipe for gravy?

Have my sister make it.

Muliebrity said...

Melissa, was he on Nutramigen his entire infancy or was he able to switch to something cheaper as he grew? That's what Hunter was on for 2 weeks while I cleared my diet out and we were able to resume breast feeding. The amount of blood her had was far greater than Muliette's. The potential damage to their intestinal tract scares me. Has he had any tummy troubles as he's gotten older?

Tammi said...

$14/gal for milk? Wow, and I get called a Designer Model....LOL

suz said...

Linds, yep I would say 24 bucks a shot. probably not worth it but it is smoooooth...
Margaret, I have never made the Yorkshire pudding in muffin cups. I should try it.

Muliebrity said...

With the yogurt...do you all buy cultures? I want to make some goat's milk yogurt, but wanted to make sure th milk didn't taste like ass first.

Robin in Montana said...

Mulie - any yogurt that says "active cultures" will work. I had the best results with Greek God honey flavor. It takes a lot of milk, though.

Muliebrity said...

My poor baby boy has been drinking soy milk and looked like a miniature Skeletor. I just weighed him today and he's gained over 10 lbs and 4 inches in 10 months on the stuff. I just started getting raw, fresh goat's milk from a farmer lady for $6 a gallon and have switched the whole family over. I have not been chancing the baby having a reaction to it, so I am skipping it for now. I am hopeful that since Hunter hasn't had a problem with it, that I will be able to use it without a problem to the baby. I want to clean my diet totally out before I add it in just so I can gauge any reactions.

Melissa said...

Ugh, blogger ate my comment. Let me try again.

Mulie-he was only on Nutramigen for maybe 6 months. That was 9 years ago so I'm a little cloudy on the exact details of that time period. He hasn't had any digestive/stomach problems since then. He never had bloody diapers, he would just spew after he'd have a bottle.

Muliebrity said...

I thought that was the case, Robin, but my goat milk lady said that she has been buying cultures, because she heard that the cultures in commercial yogurts may not be strong enough. She hasn't tried making any yet though and she bought a yogurt maker.

twirldawg said...

Having trouble talking over here as I may have my foot in my mouth.

PJ said...

Jill - why might you have your foot in your mouth?

Muliebrity said...

Yeah, Melissa, she has only spit up a few times, and all but one time have been through her nose, so she is refluxing and having colic symptoms. The *funny part is, when she has had a screaming episode (this has only happened maybe 4 times) there are on instances of blood, but when she had blood last night, she was in an awesome mood all day and night, smiling, laughing, baby-talking, and just being a sweet thing. That's why it's difficult to gauge what the actual problem it.

T@iy@ said...

<--going to try crockpot yogurt sometime.

twirldawg said...

Made a silly reference on RiM's FB, then tried to cover up my embarrassment leading to further embarrassment.

T@iy@ said...

WHy is your foot in your mouth, Jill?

PJ said...

Glad my kids thrived on breast milk, formula and cows milk.

twirldawg said...

T-see above.

CK- same here.

suz said...

Well Daisies, off to finish work! Headed to the coast tomorrow for the weekend.
Have a good one all.

PJ said...

Bye Suz! Have a good weekend at the coast.

Melissa said...

Bye Suz! Have fun.

T@iy@ said...

Jill- I thought blogger was messing up and I missed something!

T@iy@ said...

Well, my babes is awake, my toddler is asleep and I am back to Mommy Land! Bye all!

Muliebrity said...

Christy, Thanks for the references! I was just reading some WAP stuff this morning and everything they say I should be eating, sounds like exactly like the foods I am currently trying to avoid. The baby seemed fine with my diet until late last week until I ate, like, 3 or 4 hard boiled eggs, so I thought that might have been what was bothering her.
I did learn that goat's milk is w/out folic acid and low in vitamin b12.

Gusgirl said...

T@iy@ - If you like historical fiction, Heather Graham wrote a series of three books set during & after the Civil War: "One Wore Blue", "One Wore Grey" and "One Rode West".

KaytieJ said...

Jill - You with your foot in your mouth? You are the last person I would every think of to have that! But then, I think Toddlers affect mom's that way...and teens! LOL!

Margaret - posted early, but with all this chat ya missed it. I only got two inches taken off and it is still brown. Boooorrrrriiiiinnnnnng! :-D

Holy triple posting, Batman! It was telling me it was too big, so I tried to revise it only to find it did actually post. Several times. Anyone know how to erase some of this crap?

Muliebrity said...

Well....enough about my baby's ass. Onto more interesting things.

Margaret, I don't really know if Elisabeth "dumped" us for certain. I believe what happened was that her computer monitor died (I think) and someone was going to help them fix it and couldn't. No money in the budget for a new one, she lost her internet at home (and I would venture to guess at Chris' too, since the computer wasn't working) and she is not able to load OD from her phone. She is still able to get on things like Twitter (where I keep up with her) and I think someone said they have seen her at MWOP. She always tweets me and I should have probably been passing along her updates, but it seriously didn't occur to me. It was one of those things where I would read things on twitter and forget they weren't on OD too.

When AP expressed her feeling on the situation, someone so very graciously created themselves an anon twitter account for the sole purpose of telling Elisabeth that something was said. She responded to that person that she adored the Daisies and she was beyond grateful to everything that was done, it's just that she can't get onto the site. I imagine that she *could send emails, but, hey, what do I know?

Here's the latest on Chris from twitter:

"Well, it's official. Chris going to live in mom's yard in the singlewide as soon as we can swing down pmt. I just HAVE to go back to work..8 months of paying all his expenses AND ours after cutting my income so I could care for him 24/7....has left us SO in the hole. I can't remember the last time I had to (gulp)..job search. Chris is very sad but he knows we have stretched what we have TO the limit. He's trying to keep spirits up by making jokes about "trailer life". Sent out an email saying he wanted a toilet bowl planter & an old firebird up on blocks as housewarming gifts! I <3 that dude, truly."

Dammit, I go and run and errand, and all of these people show up

And, I am now officially on my own nerves, so I am going to do some more laundry and prepare some plastic wrapped lined diapers.

Has celery ever made your lips itch?

Lisa said...

Hey, Suz! And now I'm wanting to try Yorkshire Pudding really bad. It sounds so good!

Mulie, re: Elisabeth, yes, a simple email to any one of us would have been the polite, *right thing to do considering how far out of our way so many of us went for them. I'm sorry, but I do feel like we got used and I'm perfectly fine with the fact someone told her that.

Deb said...

Not me, Margaret, no itchy celery lips.

It's been a while, but good to see you again Suz!

Mulie - I'm sorry for the baby and her tummy issues. When you said there was blood in her stool, I assumed it was a large amount.

Anonymous said...

Gusgirl - your avatar is adorable!

Melissa - your goodie is in the mail :)

Muliebrity said...

It'a all good, Deb. When I went back and reread what I said, I was not at all clear. I am kind of laughing about it, because I think I sounded kind of douche-y about it this morning. When I am typing with one hand, I try and keep it as short as possible, but that didn't really work out too well for me this morning. Oopsie!

Anonymous said...

Mulie - have you tried almond milk?

Muliebrity said...

I was going to make some for Hunter last year after he turned one and bought everything for it, but never got around to it and discovered the goat's milk and have been very happy with it. I have cut nuts out of my diet for now, but they will probably be some of the first things I add back in. I am just happy that I don't have so cut out wheat or corn like some other mommies I have read about. Now *that would really suck.
