Found this one this morning....this should get AP's "BP" in a twist!!!

All I can really say is just wow and maybe even a big fat why? Maybe people who actually live in these areas could take some video and some photos and send them to Anderson since the news is currently banned from reporting the news. This oil spill just gets crazier and crazier and definitely is getting my consipiracy theorist mind running.

Sorry about the drama mama AP. Thanks for buying the charm - I figure people can live with a lot of things but they need food :)

I need to look at your stuff, Mark, but I am broke from wasting money on useless crap and we are supposed to be starting Dave Ramsey hardcore. What a hassle.

Muliebrity said...

Was it someone over here who had the crockpot refried beans (or something like that)? I want to try them!

Anonymous said...

No worries Mulie. What is Dave Ramsey?

You must not be broke, Margaret! He's one of those best selling financial gurus. He's the type that does not believe in debt.

Anonymous said...

Ah. I've always been careful not to get into debt but I'm also not very materialistic so it makes it easy. I like this guy for investment advice - he's local but has offices all over the country and has a radio show http://www.ricedelman.com/.

My husband is the spender in our house. We were on vacation last week and he bought all kinds of nonsense. I came home with some rocks from Lake Erie - I'm a real cheap date :)

I was just checking out your blog, Margaret and I love Point Lookout! Did you know that they do a tour of their lighthouse every year? It's very cool. They also do some "haunted" tours down there.

Afternoon all!

JM's BFF Sami is killing herself defending Mck on Twitter. I would never allow people I care about to go on the offensive for me so often, for as long as it's been going on. I know Sami probably means well, but she is pregnant and has like, 5 kids. JM can take care of herself.

I bet there is some haunting down at Point Lookout. It was a prison of war camp during the civil war - something like 14,000 people died there - women and children too.

Muliebrity said...

There is a SOMD Ghost Hunters Club that does a mid-night trek to Point Lookout every year. I know some people who belonged to the club. I think that kind of thing is pretty fun.

Anonymous said...

My only comment on JM is that since she's having health issues I hope she slows down. I almost died as a result of pregnancy and it's no joke. Yes, women have babies every day but it is hard on the body. You need to treat yourself right or your body will fail you.

Muliebrity said...

I felt (and still feel) like I've been run over by a train. I can't imagine she feels so hot. I've had 3 in 4/5 years and she's on her 5th in 5/6 years and going on her 4th c-section? I did ok with my first 2 pregnancies, but this last one in the kick in the ass that just keeps on kicking. I hope she chills out, for her own health, and the health of her baby.

Muliebrity said...

What happened with your pg, Margaret? You don't have to share, if you don't want too. Does that mean you are finished having kiddos?

Muliebrity said...

Oh, and did Bella get eaten by some Little Shop of Horrors plant in her garden or something?

I almost died a week after Hannah was born from postpartum cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure. That's the reason why we didn't have a second child but I am really grateful that I'm alive.

Lol, you say that like it's a bad thing.

I hppe JM is okay, too, but agree she needs to de-stress and be careful. So does this Sami - I didn't realize she was pregnant, also.

Margaret, I've heard of what happened to you and that is awful. I'm very glad you're with us now.

Margaret- that is so scary.

Just came in from working in the yard. I buy meat at Aldi too. It is always very good. Karen- I just bought those country ribs there last week. They were great. Hope yours are too.

AP- you have a food saver, right? We freeze the chicken individually. Easy lunch/dinners.

Muliebrity said...

Margaret, My cousin's SIL had the very same (similar? I don't know how specific this is to each individual) thing and they truly almost lost her. She is still not fully recovered and is not sure what lasting effects she will have. I hope all is well with you now!

Muliebrity said...

"Lol, you say that like it's a bad thing."

Well, each of these financial people have their own thing the preach. His is no debt.

Lisa said...

"AP- you have a food saver, right? We freeze the chicken individually. Easy lunch/dinners."

Erin, I don't. I (brace yourself) use Zip-Loc bags and a straw. It works. :-P

Mulie, I'm a huge, huge believer in no debt. I can honestly and proudly say I owe no one - no mortgage, no car payment, no credit cards. It's really the most amazing, free feeling in the world. Aim for it, it's a good thing.

Lisa said...

Speaking of money, I'm paying bills tonight...blah. Some are really due as in might be disconnected tomorrow (okay, that's just cable), some not so much. I usually scatter them out throughout the month so I don't feel it so badly but this month I'm going to dive deep and pay them all at once and see how it feels to have it just hurt one time...lol. Phone/internet, cable, electric and all the various and assorted insurances. Water/sewage was just paid last week. Pray for me.

Do y'all have a system for bill-paying that you like and would share?

Muliebrity said...

I have things set up to auto pay on pay days or things like cell, cable, electric, and phone/internet, I usually pay when or right before they get shut off. Very bad.

The problem is, we techically make less money then we did before moving here and we are basically in the read, so we've been morons and have been covering the overage with credit cards. We are in the process of getting out act together. Blah.

KaytieJ said...

Sigh...paying bills. That is when I suddenly love cleaning and REALLY cleaning the house. Dh wants to refi and I have been stalling. Today I decided to buck up...after vacuuming, 4 loads of laundry, cleaning out the refer, etc. And here I sit...I hate paperwork.

Lisa said...

Mulie, I had some things set up on auto-pay...most, actually, but because I have to transfer from one account to the other to cover the draws, I'm finding myself feeling it like I was writing a check over and over. I was all about the whole paying just before they get shut off thing, too...until I added up annual late fees for doing it. For whatever stupid reason, I still struggle with that cable bill and probably since I've not set it up for auto-pay. I am amazing at paying bills on time for businesses. For myself? I suck and I suck hard. The credit cards will kill you, though, Mulie. The best thing you could ever do for yourselves is to cancel all but one and lower the credit limit to around $250. Basically enough to cover a long tow or a few nights in a hotel. Dire emergency stuff.

Kaytie, it's such a great time to re-fi...go for it!

Muliebrity said...

We totally know better. Totally. A big part of what happened with the credit cards happened because we were having martial problems. It is a direct manifestation.

KaytieJ said...

I love auto pay - but the thing I don't like about it is still having to print it out for tax time - or maybe that is just me not knowing a better way. In my next life, not only do I want a tiara - I want an accountant! LOL!

KaytieJ said...

AP - I understand exactly what you are saying. At work I am so anal about everything and when it comes to that stuff at home, I grind my teeth at it!

Mornin' ladies. Weighing in on my Aldi meat-buying question: I have bought several types of meat from Aldi and haven't had a problem with any of it. (We've gotten the fresh chicken breasts, ground beef as well as some sort of steak-I can't remember what it was) I also get our milk and eggs there because it is so much cheaper than at Wal-Mart/Publix. The only thing that we didn't care for from Aldi was their jarred spaghetti sauce. I'll typically get all of our groceries (aside from meat) at Walmart but I've started going to Aldi-since it's across the street from Walmart-on my way home from grocery shopping to get frozen foods/milk and their produce.
I saw that Sami was going after some of the ladies that post over at MWOP on Twitter. I don't know her nor do I follow her blog so I can't say anything about her on a personal level. I only wonder if she's trying to fool herself in to thinking that all that's come to light about JM is purely lies. I would think that she'd have to start seeing the light at some point.

Mulie - my doctor totally missed my heart problem, I went home, legs started swelling, I kept calling my OB and they said it was normal. By the time I drove myself to the ER, knowing it was not normal, I was almost dead. They gave me a 50/50 chance of seeing Hannah's first birthday. I'm on medication for life but I'm here :) PPCM is rare in the US but is prevalent in Haiti - most research thinks it is caused by a virus.

Good morning everyone! Back from a weekend at the coast. Waves were very rough, so not a lot of beach play this weekend. Had lots of fun in the pool though.

How is everyone?

Margaret - wow, I had not heard your story before - I'm so glad you are here!

Lisa said...

Morning, all!

Has anyone heard from Shannon? She's not been around for a few days and I'm sort of concerned. Has anyone seen her on SIF's BF or anything?

Melissa said...

I was thinking the same thing about Shannon. I wonder if Mikala is having problems with her recovery? I'm hoping that Shannon's power cord blew or something and that's why she hasn't been around.

Deb said...

I hope everything is okay with Shannon. I've not been around much, so I haven't seen her around either.

Deb said...

AP - Saw the headline this morning "BP Happy With New Oil-Leak Effort, But No Promises". really, really???

We listened to the free Jimmy Buffett concert he held from the beach Gulf Shores last night. He switched the words around in a few songs that were totally ant-BP, couple of LOL moments.

Muliebrity said...

I was wondering about Shannon too! I haven't seen her at SIF's, but I wasn't over there much this weekend.

Lisa said...

I'm worried about Mikala, too...hopefully it's just the computer. As sucky as that is, it's preferable.

Deb, don't you love how they're trying to spin it? But gosh, compared to a week ago, have you noticed how quiet the media is about everything going on? I mean, it's being covered but it's very...controlled covering. I loved them interviewing the guy in charge of running the testing on the seafood. He said, oh-so-cheerfully, that tests are showing the seafood is safe to eat, it's unaffected by the oil. The interviewer asked him if they were also testing for contamination from the dispersants and, even more cheerfully, he says "Oh, we're working on a test for that now!!" Ugh...

Deb said...

anti-BP, ugh if only I could type.

the media is eerily quiet. they are totally being controlled. it is so wrong. There just doesn't seem to be any......outrage.

Lisa said...

People are short-memoried. The less coverage there is and the more emphasis on other gossip-y things in the news (Lindsay Lohan, anyone?) the faster people forget. Or, if not forget, they lower it in priority. I think, too, people are defeated, as a whole. They know this is all out of their control, they know it's going to be awful long-term and no amount of outrage is going to change a thing, so why waste the energy?

Deb said...

Without outrage, BP has no sense of urgency. I think the US should start fining BP for every day it gushes. Big fine. I don't care how much BP already has to pay out. Give them a deadline FFS!

Anonymous said...

Notice too how the oil spill has taken the heat off the healthcare debate just as some of the provisions kick in - it's all spin and it makes me sick!

Muliebrity said...

I am not a regular watcher/reader of the news since the baby has been born. I am usually engaged in a full body contact sports such as dinner and bathing children. I had seen something around weeks 3-5 that said this spill was the smallest spill on record at that point. Bad me, just started to kind of ignore the whole thing thinking that it would resolve itself. The whole thing has turned into a fiasco. It's ridiculous.

Deb said...

Mulie - they grossly under-estimated, or purposely gave low figures in the beginning on how much oil was gushing.

The Exxon Valdez spilled 257,000 barrels of oil.

So far, the *estimate for this is 3,756,472 barrels...and counting.

Or, in gallons, it is 157,772,693

Muliebrity said...

Their gross estimation worked in tuning people, like me, out.

I posted my quinoa recipe!

I am going to murder my husband! He won't stop bugging me about some stupid effing new cell phone he wants! Is he effing out of his mind?!

Anonymous said...

Mulie - you need to get full sized Dave Ramsey cut outs for your house - your husband does not need a new cell phone if his works. Or, tell him he needs to sell some of his stuff if he wants to buy something new.

Lisa said...

Dumbass me just remembered I have Shannon's cell. I just texted her and will let y'all know what I hear back.

Margaret, yes it certainly did distract us from the healthcare fiasco. I also wonder how much of a part Obama's friendship with George Soros is playing in all this. Soros is all tied up with deep water drilling off the coast of (I think it is) South America and he's been wanting some of the work going on in the Gulf to head down his way. Funny thing, that. Obama banning the drilling in the Gulf would have sent Soros exactly what he wanted...and this spill could and would make the public and politicians who may have previously been pro-drilling rethink their stance. Funny how with this last overruling by a federal judge, one that said drilling *can continue, period, then ooooooh, *now BP announces they can cap it, just out of the blue. It reeks of "if we can't use this spill to our advantage, we may as well cap it up", doesn't it?

Okay, heard from Shannon...she's got internet issues. Sounds like they're okay. :-)

Lisa said...

Mulie, is your husband on board with the Dave Ramsey thing?

KaytieJ said...

Morning!

Margaret - So glad you are still with us!

Didn't Shannon say they were going camping? The weather has been so gorgeous around here finally, that I bet (hope) she is out enjoying it.

The BP oil spill is an outrage. I think people are feeling defeated on it because of how huge and non stop it is. With other catastrophes there is something one can "do" physically to help out.

Lisa said...

Kaytie and everyone, do y'all think there's probably a great number of people who just don't care about this spill because it's not directly impacting them?

KaytieJ said...

Everyone I know and talk to is sick about it. Many have donated to various organizations to help since we do live far away. We are very nature, nautical and seafood oriented here since the history here is salmon fishing and having one of the major ports for shipping. People are horrified of the thought of the beach and wildlife destruction going on.

Melissa said...

AP-I think that may be a valid point. I just can't fathom the folks living in Nevada for instance are going to be as concerned about the oil spill as you and I may be. (being that we live in close proximity and will most definitely be affected at some point in the near future)
To be honest at first I didn't pay any attention to the matter because I fell for the "it's not a big deal" spiel. Now the whole situation makes me sick.

Melissa said...

I also think if the media is quiet and isn't in our faces about it that it will be very easy for some people to brush it off and forget about it.

Lisa said...

Yep, I think it's a combination of things, too. Kaytie, I know here, and as Melissa said, we will be impacted by the spill at some point, people say the appropriate things - oh, it's so awful, it's horrible, etc. But are they upset enough check the news several times a day to see what is happening, to donate, to be contacting our elected officials and asking what our county's plan is to handle it? Do they do anything but say the appropriate words when the subject comes up? No, not really. It's elsewhere. But once it comes *here, then people are going to get worked up and demand that media coverage.

Muliebrity said...

Shannon show up yet?

Does anyone else think Mel Gibson's rants are kind of amusing?

Melissa said...

Mulie-I haven't heard any of his rants lately. What's his issue now?

Lisa said...

Mulie, her internet is still down, it seems. I'm going to put us a new post up for her in a bit, though. Old times...don't miss 'em. ;-)

I'm finding Mel horribly amusing, yes. God, he's an ass but a very funny one! Of course if he heard me say that, he'd probably take a bat to me and plant me in Deb's garden. :-D

Muliebrity said...

I am wondering how they really know that is him? I just heard his rants for the first time today. I smell another trip to rehab... He is out of his mind. And that girlfriend of his kind of looks like Octomom. She has a tiny nose and gigantic lips.
