Rest in peace, Doug Fieger.

Your name may not be well known, but what you co-wrote and sang surely is and will be.

Well, there you are, Rebecca. I was just wondering out loud about you. :-)

And SW, I'm a dork. That's why you're not surprised.

kristin said...

Thanks!

No worries...like I said, he still is spunky as ever just coughing and quicker to get upset over things.

Rebecca said...

Okay, I am going to sound very ignorant and ditzy here - but I think the colors they used for the Olympics are so pretty. Are they specific to anything?

Karen said...

Kristin I was just reading your blog and your latest pics of LM are so adorable, and that is so scarey to have to give him those treatments! How is he now?

Angie said...

Which colors do you mean, Rebecca? (and Hi!)

kristin said...

Karen - thanks! he really is a cute kid and I know I will have my hands full.

I have learned raising my voice or yelling doesn't work, so I ask him "do you want to make mommy mad?" and then he will hug me and say "are you happy now?" Little turd :)

He is good, really - when he is sick he never acts "sick" - it takes that mama instinct to realize something is wrong. He acts the same and plays just as hard. His teacher said he was fine at school - doctor said he was fine to go to school, not contagious if no fever. He is not wheezing anymore and doesn't crackle while he sleeps. he just has an awful cough.

Karen said...

Awww what a sweetheart - that age to me is so adorable! I learned doing daycare that to get the attention of the kids better, I would whisper, they would stop doing what they were doing and pay attention... didn't always listen, but they did stop... I'm glad he isn't wheezing any more! I'm feeling for him with the cough, I am feeling like crap!

Hi Rebecca - nice to see you over here!

Rebecca said...

The colors for all the signage, logos, etc. The pretty greens and blues. Must be just the scheme they came up with.

Rebecca said...

Hi SW, Hi Karen!

My kids never act sick when they are sick either. Sometimes it would be nice if they would be "normal" and sleep all day when they are sick, but noooo.

PJ said...

Hi Rebecca!

Dinner was delish. We shared a glass of merlot that was perfect with all the meats.

Home to coffee with amaretto and whipped cream (cause they wanted $7.50 for it there and we'd used up our gift card).

PJ said...

Oh, dear, my good name, oops initials, are being dragged through the mud.

kristin said...

CK - sorry to hear!

Yes karen, it is a good age but OMG - trying...he definitely likes to test.

Karen said...

CK, huh?

Lisa said...

Who is muddying your C and K??

Karen said...

My 2nd to oldest grandson is 3 - will be 4 in july - and that is his daily goal, to test his mother, she has NO patience at all though - I feel bad cause most of the time he's so good for me, then she walks in the door... and he has a meltdown! Although he does have a melt down occassionally with me... But they are just so cute saying things!! Tucker says Fable instead of Table, no other words does he replace the T with a F - just on Table! so funny!

kristin said...

Hey ladies, I'm exhausted. I am going to go lay in bed and read a book while I half ass watch the olympics!

Hey CK - did you get a response from HiT?

PJ said...

No response from HiT.

I've always felt a bit uncomfortable that my initials CK are two of of three on the McK family initials.

kristin said...

Karen - I think they know they can get away with it with us. He is great for my mom and sister, even at school but not so much with me.

I don't understand it but I know it happens.

Alright, going to bed even though I'm still hungry. :(

Lisa said...

Rest and feel better, Karen. Vapo-Rub yourself up good and we'll see you tomorrow!

Rebecca said...

Goodnight Karen and Kristin. Rest well.

Lisa said...

Goodnight to you too, Kristin. :-)

PJ said...

Only kidding - it's just somebody who doesn't know me very well.

Lisa said...

That's good, CK. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm wearing socks and sandals and it would be hard to kick ass in them.

PJ said...

Awww - AP - thanks.

Karen said...

I'm not leaving! I think Kristin was saying goodnight - to me... but I'm sticking around a while, but I will Vicks up before bed for sure!

Anonymous said...

Evening ladies.

Karen have you tried the Vicks on the bottom of your feet trick. It will help the cough believe it or not.

We do that here all the time.

Lisa said...

Oh, I thought you said you were going to bed, Karen. Sorry, didn't mean to rush you off!

Rebecca said...

I had you all tucked in too, Karen!

PJ said...

Rebecca - if you're here - I agree about the blues and greens for the Olympic stuff. Love the combination of colors.

It looks especially good with the blue & white jackets/ski pants of the skiers and boarders.

Angie said...

OMG it's almost ten o'clock! No wonder I'm tired! :-) Night all!

Rebecca said...

Yeah, I thought it was really pretty and different. Nice against all the snow. It seems like the primary colors or the darker reds and blues are used a lot, and that's nice, but this is good for a change.

Karen said...

Night SW - Sandy I have heard that about vicks on the feet, tonight I am going to put it all over, i was awake til almost 6 this morning.. gotta figure out something to help me sleep better!

ice cream... that will make me feel better!! yep!

Rebecca said...

'Night ladies. I'm gonna go and at least pretend to pay attention to hubs...

Karen said...

Night Rebecca - have fun!

PJ said...

SW - good stuff from you on MWoP tonight. Thanks for the laughs there.

I too need to go and pay attention to my husband. Night all.

Hi everyone :)

AP, no, no...no one has run me off. I saw the comments you were worried. I am just trying to take a break. Lots of stuff in our bloggy land has made me feel a little sad, but I am not mad. I am hoping to be back in full force very soon!

F'n MckDaddy. LMAO. MckPussyWhipped, more like it. I am looking forward to his mind-blowing, envelope-pushing posts. AP, are you over the moon that you are going to get a regular dose of Israel? :D

Karen said...

Bella! Hi!

Mckpussywhipped, I like that!!!

Lisa said...

Oh, thank God. Bella, no shit, I've worried a bit about this off and on all day, afraid I'd I will say, I agree about the sadness. There are people I miss hearing from and I think of them every day. Even when they annoyed me from time to time, I still cared and miss them. Worry over them some. You know? At the same time, if they don't want to join us here, I respect that and harbor no hard feelings. I just hope to see them again sometime. Take your time and love on J a lot...we'll be here. :-)

As for Israel, he no more wrote that than I did but, that said, as soon as that handsome devil gets his own spot, I'm going to follow him. *nods*

Lisa said...

"Oh, thank God. Bella, no shit, I've worried a bit about this off and on all day, afraid I'd I will say, I agree about the sadness.

The fuck? I think I meant "afraid I'd pissed you off".

Anonymous said...

The man can't spell jalapeno or lettuce. He did not write that post, AP.

You are a reasonable and sane woman regarding many things, AP. I feel Israel has pulled his fluffy-cotton-cloud-man-puff sweater over your eyes, though. Promise me you'll follow on google reader.

And, I am going to bed! Goodnight!

Karen said...

Whatcha drinking AP? Do share! I wondered what that meant, I read it like 4 times, moving my lips and all... wondering what....?

I don't think MckDaddy wrote his own post either, she used her italics and everything, clearly it was her writing... which is nuts!

Karen said...

Night Bella

I think that list was a joke...always have. In our family, we always misspell things on lists to give the reader a laugh and I bet that's what he did. That, or she put him up to that for clicks. Of course I'll follow on GR, though. And report back. Now, goodnight and thanks. :-)

Karen, I'm sober. That makes it worse, I know.

PJ said...

Morning all. The dog (who was sleeping with us so I'd get up at 5:30 as I needed to) decided that 5:00 was actually the proper time to start the day.

He's too cute to be mad at. Back to school!

kristin said...

Morning all!

Hey CK - have a great day at school!

PJ said...

Hi Kristin! I beat you to the good morn' this morn'. haha

PJ said...

Anything exciting in your world for today?

kristin said...

LOL!

Nope, just work! Gosh, I am tired today...and I went to bed early.

I am happy to report though, LM slept in his bed all night! Woo Hoo!

Okay, off to get ready!

Have a great day!

PJ said...

You have a good day too! Yea for LM and the bed!

Lisa said...

'Morning! Good for LM, Kristin. :-)

I miss waking up to SG's posts, don't y'all? Anyone know if she's okay?

kristin said...

Morning AP!

Yes, yeah for LM but I still woke up at 3:00 and went and checked on him.

SG was on 2 days ago? When you did the Chinese New Year post. She made a comment that she had the farm. That is all I know.

How are you? Are your hips still revolting?

Lisa said...

Oh, that's right! I do remember the farm thing. Okay, now it doesn't seem like she's been missing in action forever.

I'm still achy but it's not a big deal. I just like to whine about it sometimes. ;-)

I'm debating on what to fix for dinner tonight. Anyone doing anything exciting? Oh! I made SW's baked bacon dip. Oh, my God. The only drawback for me is just that I'm not a huge cheese-eater and it's pretty cheesy but man, that stuff is good.

Anonymous said...

Good Morning! I'm checking in before I go take a nap...I was up too late last night and too early this am.

Kristin, good to hear LM is sleeping and feeling better.

See y'all later!

kristin said...

Hey Christie - enjoy the nap! Sorry about being up late and waking up early!

kristin said...

or *Christy....doh!

Angie said...

Morning all! AP, I *told you Bella wasn't pissed at us! ::victory smirk::

Did anybody watch the Today Show this morning? The bit about the Canadian skier and his brother (who has cerebral palsy) made me weepy. Love the Olympics! And Meredith Viera cracks me up. She went partying with Kristi Yamaguchi, and called her Hoochie Yamaguchi. Good times.

Lisa said...

Hi, Christy. Bye, Christy. ;-)

SW, I know. You were right about Bella but at least she knows I care. And are you weepy again? That's going to make you hard to live with unless I can poke fun at you for it.

Anonymous said...

What the...? Blogger ate my comment :(

Hi all!

Rebecca: Re: the colors of the Olympics: they were chosen to represent the five inhabited continents. Blue is for Europe, Yellow for Asia, Red for America, Black for Africa and Green for Oceania. :)

kristin said...

You be smart Corinne :)

Interesting!

SW - I wish I could watch morning shows but I am up in time to get ready and get LM ready and out the door to get him to school and me to work. I have seen the clips where he hugs his brother and I think that is really cool.

I'm tired today :( I guess that's nothing new but I am and I am on cup 5 of coffee.

Anonymous said...

Kristin- I only know that because I had to write a paper on the history of the Olympics in high school ;)

5th cup of coffee? I'm a coffee addict too but that is a *lot. Be careful not to get any stomach issues!

kristin said...

It's all the bosses fault. He drinks coffee all day long. I used to drink 1 -2 cups in the morning but since I had LM and I was up every 3-4 hours and then would come to work, I started drinking it all day. I have cut down a bit and usually stop around lunch, and then maybe a couple more after since its been cold!

Angie said...

Corinne, I was thinking about you when the Russians got shut out of the pairs skating medals for the first time in 12 olympics. Looks like your Russian voodoo hex worked! :-)

AP, of course you can make fun of me for getting weepy. By the way, I was thinking about you last night when a skater fell on his ass. Knew somewhere there would be a MAP cackling and polishing her broom stick. ;-)

Angie said...

5 cups of coffee! WOW!

Robin in Montana said...

Good morning, all!

Have to keep my nose to the grindstone today.

AP - I'll be thinking about your dinner plans. Been fairly uninspired around here lately. We had tuna melt on baguette bread last night. And the kids had frozen pizza. (My apologies, Kristin, for not relaying that information before I left last night! :-)) Cami has a game at 5 tonight, so they'll eat hot dogs, chips and other assorted crap at the game and we'll scrounge something here later.

Lisa said...

SW, I come by the falling thing honestly. When my mom was a deputy, she insisted her desk be by the window that overlooked the marble courthouse steps. Some of her fondest memories are of when those steps iced over. :-D And in fairness, I crack myself up when I fall, too.

Robin, I'm thinking chicken fried cubed pork steaks smothered in gravy might be on the menu tonight. Maybe with mashed potatoes and something green to make me feel better about the health factor. Maybe a pea salad.

Angie said...

Mmmm, chicken fried cubed pork steaks sound delicious! I'm having Thai food tonight. My best friend is coming over to watch Lost and she brings me Thai food. Green curry chicken with bamboo shoots. Very spicy and yum!

Anonymous said...

SW- I'm a voodoo master! I know it's mean but I was happy to see that re: the Russian pairs skating :)

Lisa said...

Oh, man...that's good food for Lost. Very tropical-y sounding. I might need to reassess the chicken fried pork now. Maybe sushi would be better. Hey, does anyone make their own sushi? If so, I never have but bought a bag of sushi rice and do I need to add anything to it?

Robin in Montana said...

AP - Yes, you do. I don't have a recipe I"ve used consistently, but try just searching it on Recipezaar.com. For sure it has rice vinegar, maybe something else? Mirin? I'm not sure.

Anonymous said...

I <3 Thai food

I've never had sushi though. Raw fish scares me - I'm afraid of catching a parasite or food poisoning :( I guess I should give it a try sometime...

Robin in Montana said...

Corinne - you could try something with cooked fish. I forget all the fancy names, but there's rolls that have tempura shrimp or crab, there's ones with smoked salmon or eel, there's the good ol' California roll with cooked crab. I think my favorite is a spicy tuna roll, and it is raw, and I admit I have to force myself not to think about the raw factor at all, but I love it!

Lisa said...

Robin, thanks, I'll head over there for some advice. It might be fun to try making our own tonight. Corinne, I don't mind the raw fish if I know it's coming from a safe, reputable place but like Robin said, you can have cooked meat, too. Hmmm...could you do your fish ceviche-style, in citrus joice? Does anyone know if that makes it safe since it "cooks" the fish?

Anonymous said...

RiM- Good idea! I will try that sometimes.

Angie said...

Corinne, I'm surprised you've never had sushi. I agree with Robin, start with cooked fish. The way to start liking sushi is to enjoy the whole experience. The wasabi, the pickled ginger, the chop sticks. Pretty soon you'll be in love with it. For me it was sort of like beer. Nobody loves their first taste of beer, but then suddenly, you do.

Robin in Montana said...

OH, gosh, I love ceviche. I wouldn't want it in a sushi roll, though. It's supposedly 100 percent safe with any fish becuase it is technically cooked.

Mmmm, I haven't thought about that stuff in a long time.

We're having a belated V-day dinner tomorrow, since no kids. Kelly's making me ribeye, baked potatos and asparagus. Yum.

kristin said...

I LOVE me some sushi - both raw and cooked. It is kind of a given since my grandmother is Japanese. I'm not fond of the rolls but I will eat them.

My fave is the tuna but I also love squid.

mmmm....yummy!

Lisa said...

I'm just wondering if you could soak, say, salmon in lime juice then rinse it and have an acceptable flavor for sushi. Until I figure it out, I think I'll just steam some and maybe some shrimp. Imitation crab isn't bad in it, either.

Angie said...

Just tried to make my way through the new RV post. FAILED. Mck should give out prizes to readers who are able to read the posts all the way throug at one time.

Anonymous said...

1) I couldn't get through the Mckdaddy post either

2) There's NO WAY he wrote that - it reeks of Mck.

kristin said...

Going to the gym! BBL!

Robin in Montana said...

I like imitation crab just fine, too.

Anonymous said...

Imitation crab is not the best thing but definitely not the worst either. I guess you could say I like it just fine too :)

You know something I can't eat and won't ever eat? Foie gras. It's disgusting. It's the sick liver of a goose or duck for Pete's sake. (sorry for all the foie gras lovers out there!)

Lisa said...

I read it all...I thought it was sort of a fun read, actually. Then again, I love a man who says "silly rabbit" to other men he's trying to reach. :-D

Lisa said...

Corinne, I don't find it disgusting but it reminds me of cheap potted meat. Or cat food.

Anonymous said...

AP- I think your love for RV has blinded you ;)

Re: foie gras: don't ever watch a documentary on how foie gras is made. One of the grossest thing I've ever witnessed.
