I have never commented on this blog, now I just have to! That was perhaps the funniest video I have seen in a very long time. I am still laughing, and just have to go back and watch it again. I lurk here once in a while, and I will be back.

Shannon said...

Hey Keli glad you got laughed into posting :)

I was looking for a funny and saw this one and LOVED it I am glad it was liked,

Muliebrity said...

I am not watching the video, Shannon! :p

Muliebrity said...

(I hardly ever watch any of the videos, in case you were wondering).

twirldawg said...

Damn Liberals.

twirldawg said...

Oh, and I hardly ever watch the videos either. My computer doesn't like YouTube videos for some reason.

Lisa said...

'Morning all and hi, Keli! :-)

I think I've seen this before...it's cute. I swear, GWB was one fiercely bad president and, at the same time, I just can't help but think I'd really like him if we were neighbors.

Margo said...

Keli in the house!!!

Margo said...

I LOVE Will Ferrel as W. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkqrI3IibYI

Robin in Montana said...

Margaret - I love those skits with Will Ferrel, too. So, so funny.

KaytieJ said...

Mornin' Buttercups...er I mean, Daisies! Hi Keli!

Will Ferrel rocks as GW.

Robin in Montana said...

So I have chicken thighs and legs thawed out to grill. Marinade ideas? Any ideas?
<---feeling very uninspired.

Muliebrity said...

I have been getting a nasty headache daily since coming home from the hosp. I wish I could figure out how to get rid of them. I am getting sick of the motrin and coffee routine every afternoon!

Margo said...

Mulie - any blood pressue problems?

RiM - I'm making this tonight for the first time. http://www.redbookmag.com/recipes-home/blogs/cooking/homemade-hibachi-chicken-and-v

twirldawg said...

Mulie it could be a side effect from the epidural you had.

We lasted about an hour at the pool. It was just too hot. Richard was so flushed he looked like steam would come out his ears.

Robin in Montana said...

Margaret - I have that marked from the other day, and it sounds good. But these are bone-in thighs and legs. Blech. Just not feeling it.

Muliebrity said...

I had a spinal and assume that it could have the same side effects as an epidural, but I think those kinds of head aches are more debilitating. I haven't consulted Dr Google because I don't really want to know if I have a stage 11-teen brain tumor. I have been having lots of problems with my neck and left arm, so I should probably just assume my jacked up neck is contributing to the headaches.

Robin in Montana said...

Mulie - I have tons of problems with my neck, too. This sounds silly, and my kids make fun of me, but it feels *so good and really helps with headaches. One big long "tube" sock filled with rice and tied off. Microwave for 1 minute and feel if it's warm - you may need to keep microwave it in intervals until it's pretty warm. Anyway, just drape over your neck and lay down or back in a chair with it. Hard to describe, but the heat is kind of 'moist' and really sinks in and helps. If you wanted to be fancy-schmancy, you could probably put some essential oils in the rice like lavendar or whatever.

KaytieJ said...

Robin - What about a bottled BBQ sauce and add seasonings or heat as you wish?

Jill - that is hot, when a pool can't even cool you off - yikes!

Margo said...

Missed the thigh and leg part :)

Did anyone watch RHNJ last night? Big old cat fight next week.

Lisa said...

I'm back...I'd boil that chicken and make a BBQ chicken pizza, I think. Margaret, let us know how your recipe is, will you? Jake's not home tonight so I'm fixing one of my favorite junk food dinners - frozen El Monterey chimichangas baked in the oven while drenched in enchilada sauce and cheese. I'll have cold papaya with it. Fancy, no?

Mulie, I wonder if you're holding yourself funny without realizing it, maybe instinctively protecting your incision or when you feed Muliette, and it's screwing with some nerves?

Margaret, I watch RHNJ on a hit and miss basis, usually in reruns, but somehow I think I've seen most. Who all is going to be in the catfight and what's this I hear about Teresa and her husband being broke?

KaytieJ said...

Enchiladas sound good!
I am using up the buffalo rib meat - took it off the bone and froze it - in a crock pot spaghetti sauce. Lazy cook day :-D

Robin in Montana said...

enchiladas do sound good. I think we're going boring here -- Kelly will yank the skin off and we'll season with (hee) Everglades Seasoning and some cracked pepper. The kids can have bbq sauce. Mashed potatoes and some frozen green beans. ::yawn:::

Lisa said...

Spaghetti sounds good, too, but buffalo spaghetti kind of makes me laugh.

My house is trashed. My house is trashed...well, my kitchen and dining room anyway. Will someone please come fix it all for me while I nap?

Lisa said...

Oh, my God, I'm now typing in echo. echo. echo.

Melissa said...

AP-I'd clean your house for you! I love house cleaning when it's not my own.

Lisa said...

Melissa, same here. But I had yet another bug problem in my pantry hutch, what appear to be some type of mites this time, and I've got everything, including the actual hutch itself, torn apart. Every surface is covered with food, containers, cleaning crap, etc. and I think I finally killed 'em all but just don't want to deal with the putting it all back together part. :-/ By the way, Ortho is making a "safe", environmentally friendly bug killer now that actually works well! It's called EcoSomethingorother and I found it at Publix!

Margo said...

I think the cat fight is Danielle vs. Teresa. I saw that Teresa is broke and 11 million in debt -I wonder why they live so simply. Kim G reminds me of Blondie.

KaytieJ said...

UGH AP! You are Queen of the Power Tools! We'd help you clean, but if we put the hutch back together it might be missing some nuts. Glad you found some eco friendly exterminator.

Lisa said...

Anyone want to talk about the oil spill and this administration's handling of it? Y'all know, I not only voted for Obama, I campaigned for the man literally door to door. Y'all also know I'm sorely disappointed in him and feel like I've been conned. So, here's what I'm wondering right now...there are several European nations, all allies of ours, with the means to *really help us a lot here. There are companies from these countries with the possible ability to stop the flow but definitely to clean it up much, much faster than is occuring now. They immediately offered their help to us back when this first happened and were declined. This is all factual, by the way, no personal feelings of my own put into it. The reason they were rejected? What is commonly called The Jones Act, but which is actually the Merchant Marine Act of 1920. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merchant_Marine_Act_of_1920

This act can be waived when necessary. Why hasn't it been? This whole mess could have not only been far less catastrophic, but possibly even stopped by now had this been done. I'm not getting it. Why would we refuse help from non-threatening countries such as Denmark, for example? Can anyone answer that for me?

KaytieJ said...

AP - Since I live near a river that ships from all over come into to dump off cargos and retrieve, say lumber, grain, I am confused as to why foreign ships could not come in to help out.

Margo said...

It's madness to refuse help!

Lisa said...

So it's not just me at a loss here? I'm stumped. GWB waived it after Katrina so it's apparently not a huge deal for a president to do. Why in the world would he refuse *any help in this mess, particularly help that can offer solutions the US and BP cannot? I've been searching, trying to find where he's given an explanation as to his reasoning and cannot find a thing.

Shannon said...

Hey I just want to let u all know I my be limited in my time on for a few days or so. Roommates saw money we gave them as extra.....meaning internet and cable did not get paid and are currently shut off. I can do some from my phone but it is def not as easy as with the laptop lol

Shannon said...

Now as far as the crap with the oil spill it greatly angers us

Margo said...

AP - I'm curious, do you feel conned by Obama over just the oil spill or other things?

Lisa said...

Morning, Daisies and Shannon, hurry back! How is everyone today?

Margaret, I feel conned over many, many other things, as well. I felt voting for him was also an anti-war vote and what does he do? Steps it up in Afghanistan, yet another country what did nothing to us. I thought our economy would be his priority, you know...like he said...only it wasn't. Health care "reform", his pet personal project, because his focus. I expected him to make logical, well-thought out choices in what he did do for our economy and that didn't happen. It has been all about furthering governmental control on a permanent basis, so that I really did not expect. I believed him when he spoke of transparency but that was an outright lie. I could go on and on, but in the end, he's turned out to be no better than Bush.

Muliebrity said...

My boys are on a roll already this morning. I may very well lose my mind today. Help.

Lisa said...

Mulie, can you give them Benadryl? ;-)

Muliebrity said...

Benadryl makes the 4 year old insane. At least I can count on Hunter to take a 2-3 hour nap. As soon as I can get Little Einsteins going, I'm taking a pain pill and a shower.

Melissa said...

I feel for you Mulie.

AP-How's the little to no soda drinking thing going?

Lisa said...

Man, it's going to be a long day for you, I'm afraid. I hope it goes better than you're fearing right now.

Melissa said...

Mulie-Could you have a grandparent or friend take one of them for a couple of hours to give you a little break?

Erin said...

Mulie- this is when you need to find a mothers helper in the neighborhood. A girl (or boy) too young to babysit, but reponsible enough to watch them with you in the house.

Muliebrity said...

I have no friends or close relatives here, so it's just me and the weasels.

Melissa said...

I'm sorry, that just stinks. If I was closer I'd offer to help you out.

Margo said...

"can you give them some benadryl" - I love it!

Lisa said...

Melissa, I've dropped the cokes to 2 a day, no exceptions. I know 2 isn't 0 and 0 is my goal but I'm going to let myself get really used to only 2 and then I'll kick another out in a couple of weeks. I admit to substituting an extra cup of tea in the afternoons, though, but that has to be a lot healthier. I really, really miss my diet Mountain Dews and Dr. Peppers, though. A lot. And thanks for asking. :-)

Erin, have you started dropping back yet?

Lisa said...

""can you give them some benadryl" - I love it!"

Margaret, the funny part was that Mulie didn't bat an eye at that, just said it makes her older one hyper. :-D

Muliebrity said...

We are fans of melatonin here.

I have a whole chicken defrosted. How am I going to cook it? It's kinda hot for the oven. Should I bust out the crock pot? We are having some kind potatoes with it, but I want to use the leftovers for chicken curry, chicken salad, and/or chicken enchiladas.

Melissa said...

I've been thinking of ditching the Diet Coke iv that I've had for the past umpteen years. But I know that it's going to increase the amount/severity of my headaches. That's why I'm proscrastinating.

Melissa said...

Could you cut it up and grill it, Mulie?

Or maybe just throw it in the crock pot with some barbeque sauce?

Lisa said...

Mulie, I'd crockpot it. Keep the heat down.

Melissa, have you tried substituting sweet tea for some of the Coke? I know you're going to be getting some calories you'd not get in diet Coke but at least you'd be eliminating so many of the chemicals.

Muliebrity said...

My sister just had her baby at 12:12 pm CST! A boy named Finn!

Margo said...

Congrats auntie Mulie! I like the name Finn.

My question of the day - did McChrystal want to get fired? Imagine getting called into the Oval Office for a come to Jesus meeting - better wear diapers!

Lisa said...

I like the name Finn, too! Congrats to your family. :-)

Margaret, I was wondering the same about McChrystal. If he just didn't give a rat's ass, why apologize later? I suspect much drinking was afoot when those comments were made.

Melissa said...

AP-Yeah, I've thought of drinking sweet tea instead. I just don't like the tea after taste that I get. Maybe if I switched brands of tea that would go away.

Congrats Mulie! I love the name Finn.

Shannon said...

Poppin in if my phone quits hating me lol

Mulie congrats on the new nephew.

Soda ladies...I went from 2 1liters a day to maybe 2 a week. It really isn't so muche the calories that causes the trouble. As it is the sugar or what your body thinks is sugar in the case of diet. I thought my migraines would get bad bbut they haven't really at all.

Muliebrity said...

Damn chicken is still frozen!

Lisa said...

Mulie, what have you done with the chicken?

Wellp, I finally got my major tree trim done and while it looks a little naked, he got rid of anything dangerous to the house. Glad that's done and at a reasonable price, too.

Melissa, maybe make some sun tea? It might not have the taste you are talking about.

Did y'all hear they had to take that semi-functioning containment cap off the well? A robot bumped it and screwed it up. They'll try it again "when they can" but for now, we're back to a full flow. So damn sad.

Muliebrity said...

I chiseled out the innards of the chicken and threw it the crock pot with a bottle of Christmas Ale.

Muliebrity said...

My husband won't stop talking about some effing phone he wants. When will he get that we are broke and it's partially because of this lust for expensive technology?

Lisa said...

Mulie, how did the chicken turn out? It doesn't sounds bad, what you did. And have you asked him how he plans on paying for that phone? How frustrating.

Muliebrity said...

He was trying to figure out what he could sell. Which I think is a great idea considering he needs rear breaks to pass his safety inspection, plus plates, plus personal property taxes by the end of the month.

I wasn't sure the chicken was going to get done, so I heated up a frozen Salisbury Steak thingy just in case. The button popped up on the chicken right after I served the steaks, so I tasted it, but didn't bother to cut it up yet. I just stripped the skin. I'm going to make a curry with it tomorrow and would like to make some chicken salad too.

Melissa said...

Where's everyone hiding at? Seems like I started posting and now everyone's gone AWOL. :(

Robin in Montana said...

Morning, all!
Melissa, I'm here, just trying to make myself work. Not that successfully, I might add. :)

Mulie - I'm sorry. I lived with one of those for 18 years, only his taste wasn't in technology, but in new trucks, snowmobiles, motorcycles, quads, trailers to haul said snowmobiles, motorcycles, quads in, and tools, tools, tools. He (literally) at one point had something like 8 or 9 new DeWalt drills and 2 or 3 table saws (at $500 or so a pop). He could never quite grasp the fact that just because the kids got new shoes *last month and I went to the grocery store last week didn't mean they'd be needing more shoes/clothes/food again. It was, and he agrees looking back, a sickness almost, just a need to *have stuff, even if he didn't need it or never used it, and even if everyday personal bills and needs weren't being met (and they weren't.)

Lisa said...

Good morning and quick question - I have tons and tons of pictures on my computer and on disks. I'd really like to get them online. So, which is best, Photobucket or Flickr? Anyone have any strong feelings either way?

Melissa said...

Sorry I can't provide input with way, AP. I have no experience with either.

Lisa said...

It's alright, Melissa, thanks anyway. I'll just pick one and go with it. I've got to reformat this old thing today, I think, and want to get them off. Having them online would give me easier access to them than on disks. If I disappear for awhile, just know I'm trying to get this 4 year old desktop to give me another year. :-)

Unknown said...

Hey all....finally got shit paid so now I can come back and hello at everyone...I tell ya I dont like life with not internet and cable LOL

Unknown said...

dammit I hate when I put the wrong info in for my correct profile

KaytieJ said...

Shannon - YAY! Missed you, girl.

Mulie - Congrats on your new nephew!

KaytieJ said...

Melissa -
Not AWOL - just have some sun finally and out enjoying it.

I am so glad I sprayed my roses earlier for Black Spot. They made it through all this rain with healthy leaves. My peonies (light pink to deep pink) are in full bloom. Love the smell of them!

Shannon said...

I am very happy to be back in the cyber world LOL

Melissa said...

Glad some peeps are still around. I miss everyone!

I miss having roses. :( Do you have different types of roses, Kaytie?

Shannon said...

Kaytie glad to hear your flowers not only survived but still smell beautiful

Robin in Montana said...

I'd love to see your peonies,Kaytie. Peonies remind me of my mom. :)

I have pansies and some other little pink and yellow things that need to be planted if ever the Godforsaken sun would just *shine.

Robin in Montana said...

Oh, and I'm glad to see you back, Shannon!

Shannon said...

Apparently a certain roommate got paid today and instead of blowing his check he actually paid some bills...imagine that LOL

Lisa said...

Happy to see you back, Shannon!

Kaytie, I love peonies and roses, both,. Pansies, too. Right now, this heat is just too much on most everything. I'm going to put silk flowers around my mailbox. :-X

Shannon said...

I have discovered that my phone can be very irritating when trying to interact in places like this one...it is quite fond of acting like blogger and letting me type out a whole long message and then suddenly eating it

Robin in Montana said...

AP - Is it too hot there for even things like geraniums?

Lisa said...

Geraniums do so-so. I've got one that's about 5 years old (!) in a pot and it's still clinging to live. I've also got a pony begonia that has some life left in it but that's all I've found and I'm no big fan of either.

KaytieJ said...

AP - Silk flowers just might work! I can't imagine being in that heat and humidity!

Melissa - Most of my roses are the big long stemmed ones. I have yellow, salmon pink orange, deep red, white, and deep coral. I do enjoy them, even though I am not an expert on caring for them.

Robin - I will text you a pic of the peonies in remembrance of your grandma. Isn't it, well, special how different flowers can remind of us specific people and times?

Robin in Montana said...

Kaytie - thank you. :-)

KaytieJ said...

Robin - It was in send mode and I thought Whoops! I sent the pic of the bouquet with just a ((())). Hope that does not get Kelly confused!!!

KaytieJ said...

AP - I have not used the Flicker or Photobucket programs, but have viewed both. Since you have a lot of pics, maybe sign up for both and upload a few pics to each to see which program works best for you?

Robin in Montana said...

Hee. He won't be confused. Thank you so much - they are so beautiful! :)

KaytieJ said...

Phew! Well, to be fair, I will text a pic for him to enjoy - no hugs, though!

Lisa said...

I'd hate for rumors to start about Kaytie and Robin. ;-)

Kaytie, I went with Flickr and am moving everything over now. I like it better than Photobucket, which I've used a bit in the past. I did grit my teeth and pay for the Pro version, though, so I could have unlimited storage.

Shannon said...

Ugh I have been reminded why I dont like fillings at all.....finally got in this morning to get my filing replaced and GOOD GOD MY MOUTH HURTS NOW lol....I can tell that the last of the shot wore off about 20 minutes ago.

Shannon said...

LOL AP I think it is already too late....I can already see it....but I am not sure would Kaytie be the woman stealing whore or Robin?

Lisa said...

Sorry about the teeth pain, Shannon. Can you take something? And I think Kaytie would be the woman stealing whore since she started it.

Shannon said...

I took some Tylenol hopefully that will help...and to think in less then a month I get to go do it again LOL

Kaytie is trouble apparently...she tries to seem so sweet but it isnt all true

Robin in Montana said...

I'm more worried about rumors of Kaytie and Kelly. She's sending pics of shiny trucks, and you know how men get about that sort of thing. ::bites nails and looks around nervously::

:-D

Shannon- I have to go to the dentist, and sooner than later, and I *dread it so much!

Shannon said...

It is no fun RIM no fun at all.....and apparently Kaytie isnt picky since she is taunting you both with pretty things :)

Lisa said...

Oh, Kelly is safe. I got the pictures of the shiny truck last night so she picked me first. :-D

Shannon said...

AP maybe she is after you too LOL

Robin in Montana said...

Hee. He's not really a Ford man, anyway. I don't hold that against him... :)

KaytieJ said...

hehhehehe....I knew Robin and AP are not Fordies and so that was part of the fun showin' 'em my shined up old truck :-D
And thank you Shannon, that is me all over, Trouble with a capitol "T"
-LOL!

KaytieJ said...

Off to pick up Son and Friend in my old shiny Ford, should embarrass them both sufficiently
(evil grin)

Lisa said...

Oh, Robin's a Fordie like you. I forgave her for that a long time ago, though. At least it wasn't a Chevy.

KaytieJ said...

Mixed Truck Brand partnerships can be awkward, dontcha know :::nodding:::

And when did Teen boys get so pruddish? Apparently Mothers are to only be seen in a nondescript vehicle of their choosing. hmmmph!

Shannon said...

Well me and Robin can be Fordies together...I love mine even if everyone tells me it is one of Ford's biggest POSs

Funny thing is that the last car I had, and LOVED, was a Ford Aspire....man let me tell you there is nothing like tossing in a 20 and filling back up 3 weeks later. LOL Now I have a real vehicle and she demands at least 20 a week.

Muliebrity said...

How close are you to Great Falls, RiM?

Jeremy's boss has an Escape and he was able to tow Jeremy's Sidekick and the trailer attached to it on a massive trailer...Escapes are the shit!

Margo said...

Over on E the Kardashian girls are waxing each others girlie parts - ewww.

Muliebrity said...

Man, basic cable sucks. I am missing all the good stuff!

Shannon said...

LOL right now Mulie I am trying to get ours back like it should be. We just tried to do On Demand and it kept kicking us out to some weird menu and gave us a funky error message....grrrr hopefully resetting the box will help.

Muliebrity said...

I think I've said before that very little can shock me enough to actually get angry. Well, this has.
"As far as the big boy bed, I got guard rails for the bed when Kieran first transitioned, then I took them off shortly thereafter. He fell out of bed once when learning to sleep in a bed. So, this time, when I started putting Cullen in the big bed with Kieran (and in the big bed alone, at nap time) I didn't bother with the rails. He fell out once, the second or third night, and never has again. That's my trick! He did need some reminding to stay in bed, though. He didn't believe me when I told him he needed to stay in the bed. So, on the first two times he slept there, he got up out of bed and tried coming upstairs and I spanked him with the wooden spoon. He only ever got up those two first times and now he lays in bed with Kieran in the morning, talking, giggling and throwing blankets over each other for up to 45 minutes...until whenever I meander in there and tell them they may get up! (Usually it's not that long, though...typically when I hear them wake, I hop in the shower before I go down and get them 10 minutes later or so.)"

Seriously? Is this shit for real?

KaytieJ said...

Morning Daisies!

Mulie - Wow! Who needs coffee when you read that in the morning. Source?

Shannon - Hope your mouth is feeling better today.

AP - Hope your picture loading went well. Are you going to share?

Melissa said...

Mulie-That's kinda crazy. I haven't been to "the blog" in a while. Did she actually post that?

Melissa said...

Kaytie-I used to have several rose bushes. They weren't long stem ones though. Our current house came already landscaped so I haven't had the heart to rip up someone else's hard work. I did plant some sunflowers last year in a ptach by our driveway/walkway.

Shannon said...

WOW well that is good parenting at its finest right there. Let them risk getting hurt and it will fix the problem....Spank with weapons and you will get the desired effect so well they wont get out of the bed until you decide to go down and let them up....Nice.

Mind you I have spanked my children but as my mother taught me that is why we have hands and there are no vital organs in the bottom. Weapons however are NOT OK in my book not at all!!!

Kaytie my mouth is defintely better today....I dont even have to take Josh to work today and my stupid ass is up at 6 grrrr.

KaytieJ said...

Melissa - I would love sunflowers! I tried once and they did not take. They are so bright and I would really like to have fresh sunflower seeds, too. Dh goes through them like crazy when fishing.

Robin in Montana said...

Morning!

Mulie - I live probably 4 or 5 hours from Great Falls, but I grew up near there. That was one of the "big towns" we'd go to shop and I have a lot of friends there still. How come?

I am a Fordie, Kelly is a Chevyie. Think we're doomed? Although my favorite vehicle *ever was my Suburban. That thing would turn sharper and fit into a parking space easier than the Honda Prelude I once owned.

Explain to me how On Demand works?
<---technologically inept.

Have my OB appointment today. Yay.

Robin in Montana said...

We eat sunflower seeds like fiends when we go to the lake, too. And when I have a huge job with a scary deadline I tend to eat them like a machine then, too. It's calming, even though my mouth is torn up. I like them home-grown, but they take forever to mature and I don't think I could get there with them up here.

Robin in Montana said...

Kaytie - without looking, I think Mulie was quoting JM? I'm not sure, but I think that sounds like her kids' names?

Shannon said...

On Demand is fabulous RIM you need to come in from the sticks and get fancified :) Ya can watch movies and TV shows....Like you have HBO and if you time it right you can watch the movie you want to see....well with On Demand they are all listed there and you can watch it anytime.

Erin said...

Damn it. Blogger sucks for me.

Erin said...

Retyping.

If they get hit with a wooden spoon for getting out of bed, what happens when they do something *really bad?

Teaching safety to kids is important, but how to you teach them not to roll over in their sleep???

KaytieJ said...

Thanks for answering re: blog source Robin.

KaytieJ said...

Erin - I was wondering the same thing. Hate to read what happens when they spill their milk at the table :-(

Shannon said...

EL that is what I am wondering myself.....Like I said I was a spanker, I have no problem with admitting that but for getting out of bed? No I dont think the last thing your kid needs to remember of you before going to sleep is you spanking them with a spoon.

My kids went from a crib to a bed on the floor. IDK if her kids have bed frames or what sizes the beds and such are but I am hoping it isnt like mine....mine probably stands 2 1/2 feet off the ground..that is a big fall for little dudes.

Lisa said...

Morning!

Good luck, Robin!

Kaytie, there's not much to share, picture-wise...it's just tons of cat pictures and holiday stuff that I don't want to get rid of but that wouldn't interest anyone but family. :-)

Mulie, I'm pretty well astounded with JM. I mean, I've shook my head at her many, many times before but this? Is disgusting. I was a spanker, too. It was always a last resort, always with my hand alone, never in anger (no great parenting thing here - I couldn't trust myself to not beat the shit out of him if I spanked while still angry) so I'm not anti-spanking but this? I feel pretty well borders on child abuse. I cannot imagine hitting a little one with a wooden spoon the first couple of times they try their wings after being given the freedom of no rails. You *guide them first, then progressively work up in punishment to spanking when the guiding fails, imo. And using a hand on a bottom is spanking but a weapon used *anywhere is hitting, as far as I'm concerned. Mean bitch. :-(

Lisa said...

I'm off to reformat and do some creative surgery on my computer. I hope I make it back. :-P

Shannon said...

I hope you do too AP.....good luck with it all

Margo said...

"until whenever I meander in there and tell them they may get up"! What she means is when she's done tweeting and playing with her breast milk. She may be warm and fuzzy when it comes to give-a-ways for other kids (that make her money) but otherwise she's cold as ice. Who takes their kids to see their burned home - which I'm sure is the way she presented it. That's scary for kids.

Creative CPU surgery - yikes!

twirldawg said...

I'm going through the whole toddler bed thing right now as you all know. It's a big transition for a little kid and you can't expect them to get it right away.

I use the SuperNanny approach to getting him to stay in bed. After the second time he gets out or I have to go in his room to tell him to settle down you just put him back to bed without saying anything. Most nights I don't even have to do that.

Frankly, in the mornings when he climbs into bed with me are the best parts of some of my days.

Shannon said...

Jill totally agree.....you dont have to hit your kids for something as simple as staying in bed. And like Margaret reminded me....seriously the kids have to stay in bed until she is ready to get up and has had a shower? What if they need to pee? What if they want a hug? What if they are little boys and she is supposed to be the mom and she should be up with them?

Margo said...

I would hate to be RV or those kids - her needs, wants, desires dictate that household.

Shannon said...

Oh totally Margaret......Where does anyone else fit into her world anyway?

Shannon said...

I want it to be all about me I wonder how I can do that. Do you think it is too late?

Margo said...

It's never too late, however, I would like to make it all about me. We could make it all about us but that would defeat making it all about me. You dig?

MWOP posted that tidbit, but I don't know why I never saw it on her blog before. It was supposedly posted in 2008 when Cullen was 20 months old.

Shannon said...

See I am feeling a bit tainted and naughty now LOL.....I just read all 531 comments on MWOP from yesterday/today....damn!!!

And I am sorry but exactly how much can a 20 month old do to deserve to be swatted EVER with a wooden spoon? I did a two finger spank on my daughters hand when she was about 10 months old with a removal....she was getting in the dog food and had become obsessed with putting it in the water dish. She was madder at me for removing her then anything else. I guess in JM's world I should have taken a wooden spoon to her butt or thigh to teach her a lesson about willful disobedience.

So I have been wondering for like the last week why the hell are all these things about Michael Jackson on TV.....well apparently today is the one year anniversary of his death.

IDK personally I just really dont care if it is the anniversary of his death....I was never a fan of his in the first place....well at least not since Thriller anyway.

suz said...

ok..peeking out to ask a question..Do you guys feel it is ever ok to spank? I am just asking a non kid person and knowing the kind of kid I was, time outs would have never worked on me. We did get the belt on occasion and a swat to the butt also.

Hey there everyone by the way!!

Muliebrity said...

I hate spanking, but I did just have to give Logan a whack on the butt because he was about to drop the baby in a box and I have told him, like, 1000 times, not to pick her up. I generally do trips to the naughty stool because I have no idea how not to be angry at the moment you need to spank. The freakin naughty stool is a LOT of work though.

Shannon said...

Suz I have absolutely spanked. I did not exclusively spank because there has to be a warning or sometimes twenty before it happens. Some of the things my son did, he was much more trying then my daughter, that would warrant an immediate spank would be things that he KNEW were extremely dangerous like running into the road or throwing rocks at people/cars/houses....I just really have an issue with spanking a toddler and definitely spanking a toddler with a weapon...you dont really know if you hit harder then you thought with something like that and spanking should never be for hurting.

suz said...

I am not sure what I would do, I am not a parent so I will never know. I was a pretty stubborn and willful child, so I can understand spanking for me. Did not work tho, I am still a pretty stubborn adult.lol!

Margo said...

Suzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

I don't think there is anything wrong with a gentle spanking on the bottom with a hand. Using a spoon is abusive. I get the feeling that JM wears herself and the kids out with her frenetic lifestyle and then expects them to behave - kids don't operate like that.

suz said...

Shannon, I totally see your point about spanking with a weapon, never thought of it that way. I had a friend who spanked their kids with wooden spoons, so their four year old, threw out ALL the wooden spoons! Classic!

Margo said...

When Hannah is naughty she has to go to her room and sit on her bed. I've probably spanked her a handful of times.

Did they really build an alter?

Margo said...

How are you doing Suz - I miss you :)

suz said...

Hiya Margaret!
I am doing well thanks! This week has been super busy at work. I am at lunch right now so I thought I would pop in and say hey. :D

Margo said...

I love your pics from Alaska - post more :)

suz said...

Thanks Margaret! I want to, but I have no clue how to do a slide show thingy to let everyone see them. How do you do it? Does the flicker do that?

Margo said...

<------ not a fan of Michael Jackson either

Margo said...

Yes, you can load a bunch of pictures up in flickr

suz said...

I am going to have to check out flickr then. I seriously took um, over a thousand pictures. LOL, not all of them really turned out but I did shoot a bunch. That is not including the 500 my hubs took, yikes.

Lisa said...

I'm back! No creative surgery...it appears I've done as much to this old thing as I can but I refomatted it and that alone made a huge difference. Dumbfuck me forgot to save all my bookmarks, though. Ah, well, they needed cleaned out anyway and now they're really clean. As on none. *bangs head*

After yesterday, I love Flickr but Suz (and hi!) you'll probably have to pay for the Pro version like I did. Otherwise, you'll have to play by their monthly upload limits and it didn't take me very far.

Lisa said...

About spanking, I was a very willful, stubborn child (no, really!) and so was/is Jake. Sometimes spankings were the only thing left but my mom took it too far, imo. She'd use a paddle or belt far more than her hand, something I still think is wrong. She'd also lash out in anger and slap my face, which, again, I think is wrong. But hand spankings on a butt? No problems with those at all when nothing else works. But shoot, at least try the different things first. I'm wondering if JM posted that just to get attention.

suz said...

AP...JM?? Try and get attention? nah, it is not her style.LOL.
So, I will probably have to buy flickr huh? I will have to check it out in more detail.

Lisa said...

Suz, I got stuck buying it since I needed to upload everything I had last night and I was maybe 5 times over the monthly limit. You may not have to if you can wait and do it in monthly batches. If not, it wasn't awful, really. I think $25 for a year and that's unlimited photos and videos.

Muliebrity said...

Good morning! Wooden spoon didn't work here this morning. Hunter got up an hour ago demanding I make "Muffins now!" Should I make blueberry or strawberry?

Muliebrity said...

I decided on strawberry.

Erin said...

Shannon- I totally agree with the immediate spank if doing something dangerous. And by spank, in my case, it is a swat on the butt, maybe two. It was always more of a 'shock' for them, then something that *hurt.

With a spoon? On a 20 month old? For getting out of a big boy bed? So far from ok. And, trust me, my 1st was out of a crib at 15 months, could houdini open any door, never napped, woke up at the crack of dawn, and was as stubborn as the day is long.

Mulie- strawberry muffins sound really good!

Lisa said...

Save a muffin for me!

I'm still stuck on this thing, too. So, she went to bed with a spoon each night, just in case she needed to hit a toddler? If you're determined to "spank" for this, why not just use your hand?

Shannon said...

I am glad I am not the only one who is having a hard time wrapping their mind around the concept of the spoon, baby, bed thing. Shit there are plenty of areas where people could question things I have done with raising my kids and I know for a damn fact that I have never been the perfect parent...not like there is one LOL....but corporal punishment with weapons while still in a diaper just seems extreme especially with how in your face she was with it all.

I love muffins....I need to see about making some for sure.

Erin my son was one of those that was barely walking and he could get out of his crib and was a CLIMBER. That child was found on more then one occasion on the fridge. Why was he on the fridge? Well that is where we kept the snacks because he was a sneaker. I still cant tell you anymore then my theory of what was going on because I never caught him in the act we just knew he was up there because of the evidence. But he could somehow use the cupboard or drawers to climb up to the counter then he got up on the microwave and on to the fridge and back down.....this began happening probably around 18 months maybe...still didnt paddle him.

Muliebrity said...

My 26 month old has been in a twin bed for a year and this kid is all over the place. I thought I was bordering on cruel by turning the lock around on his door. It's just another one of these things that makes me question my parenting skills. Why can other people do things with their kids that I can't? I'm glad it never takes me long to realize that you never know what people are really doing behind the scenes. I just wonder how that tidbit has never come to my attention before.

Shannon said...

I had to do the same thing with my son Mulie....it wasnt to keep him locked in his room but to keep him safe from what he was going to end up doing to get himself hurt. I had people telling me that it was not OK to do that but seriously I was supposed to do nothing to keep my not even 2 year old safe? I mean he was quiet and sneaky and even as a light sleeper he didnt wake me up.

Muliebrity said...

I think you were supposed to beat him with a wooden spoon, Shannon! ;-)

Lisa said...

What's so awful about turning a lock around?

Shannon said...

I guess so Mulie...damn me that is probably why he has been so trying for the last 17 years LOL If I had just used that spoon on him all would have been better

AP I had people telling me that by putting his lock on backwards I was putting him in danger....yes because if there were a fire a lock that pops open when the knob is turned will keep me from being able to get him out LOL Nevermind someone 3 feet tall climbing to six foot heights at all hours of the night...that is much safer.

Lisa said...

Shannon, I wondered if that's why. It's no different to having a kid in a crib, only they're even less caged this way. People are funny.
