It's Sunday and time for our weekly church post.

I know I've said I won't make these posts personal but this one sort of is - this is my favorite preacher.  I'm not even a Christian, but I do have a favorite preacher and I think that after the conversations of Saturday night and the events on MWOP, this might be good for everyone to listen to and think about.  Trust me, it shouldn't even offend the Atheists and Agnostics amongst us.  He's a Christian but doesn't mind if you aren't.   If you like what you hear, I hope you'll Google this man and learn more about him and his history.  And think. Above all, *think about what what he preaches.  If it's not for you, that's fine.  Thanks for trying it. :-)

So, put your pantyhose on with your best dress (Chris, your call here!), pop some peppermint gum and let's go to church this fine Sunday morning.

CK - Ick to pink eye! And good luck to your Mr. CK with the job interview!!!

OT - Is it a bad omen for the night when my favorite Delta Burke bra busted? Inferior bra #2 flops when I run. Since I'm Rapid Response nurse again tonight, I may be coming home with two black eyes.

Anonymous said...

I have a really bad mental picture right now, LOL.

KaytieJ said...

Blogger is eating posts again :-(

I solved the warbling bra problem. The Universal fix all...pink duct tape.

Well, Daisies, have a mighty fine and SAFE night. Wear your helmets and no flip flops while riding Harleys...or Vercace ponies :-D

I think blogger is broken again. This really sucks.

Shannon said...

Rhys that is so awesome. That boy is just way too darn smart for his own good. It is fabulous that he is picking up words the way he is and just goes to show that before you know it you will be going through books with that boy like water....such an awesome thing.

That is too funny with the baseball guy AP....I got to be right next to Mark Slaughter....from the band Slaughter and a couple of the other guys from the band when they were on tour several years ago. Had a convo and everything with them...let me tell ya that man is freaking tall!!!!

Shannon said...

oh and maybe it really is the whole going from one page to the second page because blogger ate my post but I know it will show up again :)

kristin said...

I tell ya - subscribe through e-mail and you can see 'em!

Kaytie - sorry about your dilemma but glad you had duct tape.

My son and I had a discussion about boobies after the shower - he wanted to know why he didn't have big ones and I said b/c he was a boy and only girls have big boobies - and he said "uh-uh, you have small boobies" - gotta love him!

Shannon said...

Oh he is so wonderful and honest....little turd!!! :)

Anonymous said...

Kristin, I can see you! Subscribing is the only way to go!

kristin said...

yes shannon - he is a turd but he makes up for it in cuteness and funniness (is that a word)!

I see you too Sandy! How is it going?

CK - sucks about the pink eye (meant to say that earlier)! and hooray for the job interview!

Anonymous said...

Kristin, I'm good. I've grossed myself out watching food documentary.

Anonymous said...

Sandy, I saw your blog post on Food, Inc. That was a disturbing movie to me, also. Time to get back to mostly fruits and veggies!!

Wasn't the Monsanto stuff creepy in that movie? I had a friend who worked for Monsanto; I had no idea they were such thugs!

Anonymous said...

Bella, you also have to watch King Corn. When they analyze human hair, our carbon make up is corn.

I'll go into chicken farming with you. lol

Jennifer-Lynn said...

If you ladies are having a labia ice sculpture at the reception, I don't even want to KNOW what the favors are.

Anonymous said...

Bella, they were thugs! Mr. Perdu Chicken Man should be ashamed of himself too!

Jennifer-Lynn said...

My dad used to work in the NYC meat market. In the 1970s. Oh, the stories he can tell...

I finished up two classes; I only have two at the moment! It's going to be a little scary without a paycheck every two weeks or so, but now I have free time to pursue my own pleasures. ::leers::

Okay, probably not. But I'll probably be here a bit more.

Anonymous said...

Sandy, merge Food Inc. with The Road, and we need to figure out how to run a sustainable farm along with how to shoot to kill. I've been morose all weekend, thinking about the end of the world as we know it.

Angie said...

Monsanto is the devil. I'm not even kidding. Worse than Wal-Mart even. ::nodding::

tumbleweedgirl said...

bella

i've read so much about monsanto, they are creepy. i've not watched food, inc. it sounds like a good movie, though.

i don't have to worry about our meat. one of my recent shoots i traded for meat. the grandparents of the baby raise black angus. they feed them the local grown barley and range them in the desert. it should be good meat. i'm giddy. (:

someone else might be trading photos for finish work on the house. turns out i might be handy after all !

My hubs is in law enforcement and is an avid hunter. I think we're covered there.

twirldawg said...

I think if I watch Food Inc I won't ever eat again.

BD are you done with teaching or is it just temporary.

Anonymous said...

BD, in regards to the labia ice sculptures, I have no idea what the party favors will be, but I heard the appetizer menu included pink tacos and bearded clams.

Just sayin'.

T@iy@ said...

Good Evening, Daisies.

I have to admit to being curious about those favors myself. :D

Anonymous said...

In the documentary King Corn, two newly graduated college students plant an acre of corn to find out where it goes. We had fast food tonight and I kept saying so how is your corn.

Anonymous said...

Sandy, have you ever been to CP Meat Market in New Lenox? They use all local beef, and will even dress and package half and quarter cows for you. I buy all my meat from them.

And Sandy, when the end of the world comes, you can bring your family and your guns to our farmette here. We've been researching raising chickens, and will probably dive in this year. I think it would be a good team.

T@iy@ said...

I remember the raising chickens days. Are you raising them for eggs or food? Or fun, I suppose. ha!

Anonymous said...

Bella, I'm going to look them up. I've been looking into raising chickens for the past two years. We can here in TP as long as they are 100 feet away from neighboring houses. My husband thinks I'm nuts.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Jill, it's just temporary. I work for two schools that do accelerated work online. I teach for one on a month to month basis, and the other for nine-week sessions. Two of my nine-weekers just finished, and I don't take on another class for them until 5/24, unless they get cancelled, which they probably will. For the other school, I am teaching now until the end of April, and the next class starts on May 3 (I think). I usually carry about 5 classes at a time, with anywhere from 15-20 students in the 9 week classes, and up to 40 in the monthlong sessions. So at any given time I have an average of 100 students (that's a reasonable number, given that they sometimes overbook). And people drop. The most students I;ve ever had in a writing class was 55, but by the end it had dropped to 39. Try teaching writing to 39 students, all at different writing levels and all in different spots in their lives. It can be difficult, but in the end it's worth it, b/c I don't have to put the kids in daycare and I still bring in supplemental income. Oh, and I don't have to commute, buy lunch, and I frequently work in pajamas. :)

Jennifer-Lynn said...

And...I killed it.

kristin said...

Sorry - was busy being the human trampoline for the little guy - he is going to break me one of these days! Then we read a book and put him down.

I haven't watched any of those shows, I like food too much :)

Watching the CMA's.

Anonymous said...

I'm playing on facebook :)

kristin said...

me too bella - trying to reach level 31 on FV - I'm a loser :)

I will never reach AP or have a farm quite like hers.

T@iy@ said...

What level is AP on?

Anonymous said...

Can I just say it's wrong to have elephants on your farm.

kristin said...

38 and 42 :)

T@iy@ said...

Sandy- I was pretty irritated when they did elephants but still didn't have dogs!

kristin said...

i wanted elephants and I got some gifted to me but that was when FV was having problems so I never got mine :(

Anonymous said...

I quit Farmville a long time ago, now I am playing this maddening Zynga game called Treasure Isle.

Anonymous said...

Okay can someone tell me how to get a dog!

twirldawg said...

BD- I'm giving myself 6 months before the whole stay-at-home mom thing doesn't do it for me anymore. I think I'm done with traditional public education for now, but am considering doing virtual school.

Anonymous said...

I do Treasure Isle too. I kind of do FV. Green alien sheep are just wrong too.

T@iy@ said...

My Mom's cousin is on level 52. It's insane!

twirldawg said...

I play too many games on FB.

I can quit anytime I want. I just don't wanna.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Kristin, both my B.A. and M.A. are in English Language and Literature. I teach college writing, expository writing, persuasive writing, business writing...I do it all.

Do you have a Masters' degree, Kristin? If so, I can put you in touch with the schools. It's a great supplemental income, although I don't know how much time you have with LM and all. It's been hard for me to find a balance with the kids. Ultimately, though, like I said, it's worth it.

kristin said...

unfortunately no. Just my bachelor's with my alternative certification. I want to go back, just not sure how.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Since I'm talking about this, and no one really cares but everyone will pretend they do, which is nice, I will tell you that I was an English major and Women Studies minor in undergrad. My thesis was on portrayals of motherhood in the poetry of Anne Sexton and Gwendolyn Brooks (two poets, one white, one black, who were contemporaries). At my advisor's request, I was to add two "modern" poets who would be considered the answer to Brooks and Sexton...I chose Madonna and Lauryn Hill.

My M.A. thesis was about subversive elements in the poetry of Sarah Piatt, a 19th century poet.

I know, I'm boring as hell.

Anonymous said...

Your not boring, BD, just way more schooled than I am! :D

Anonymous said...

Case in point: Your=Your're

kristin said...

that's awesome BD!

Well I'm off to bed b/c I wanna watch bro's and sis and SO won't watch it.

I didn't level up :(

Lady Antebellum won another award! They sing a song that makes me sad :(

on a better note - Carrie Underwood is HOT!

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Thanks, Bella.

Actually, I figured out I was in love with Mr. BD when he picked up the collection of Sarah Piatt's poetry and read it without telling me. He wanted to be able to discuss it with me, even though he hated it. Because it was important to me, so therefore it was important to him.

When we are fighting or having rough spots, I try to remember that.

kristin said...

lol Bella!

Alright - night!

Anonymous said...

I went to school more to learn a skill, rather than just go to college, if that makes any sense. I was not the best student, but I love to learn. I tend to learn on my own, studying things that interest me. Jay is the same way, and we have a lot of common interests (gardening, brewing, cooking, sewing-we both sew, carpentry, knitting).

We both like to learn outside the classroom :)

twirldawg said...

BD you aren't boring. Those things don't interest me, but that doesn't make you boring.

Kristin have you looked into special education?

tumbleweedgirl said...

bella

it used to be that school was to teach that. i read like crazy about weird things. poor Rock has to put up with it as i spout about odd topics. (:

and may i say that i am super impressed that you knit?

Jennifer-Lynn said...

I think that's awesome, Bella. I love learning, too, but also love being in the classroom. I actually MISS writing papers. But a lot of my knowledge I just picked up on my own.

You and I are the Didactic Duo.

Well, I guess that would REALLY be you and Jay. But for our purposes here, it is you and I.

Anonymous said...

TWG, to be specific, I can crochet, and Jay can knit :)

Jennifer-Lynn said...

I want to take a knitting class. I know how to crochet. I'm not sure I'm dextrous enough, though.

tumbleweedgirl said...

bella,

now my admiration really knows no bounds! knitting and crocheting in the same house? it's up there with multiplying 4 digit primes in your head!

wow.

tumbleweedgirl said...

shannon

you were so right about zaya a while ago. letting him figure it out at his own pace, and it exploded. i was so sure Rock was right and that he didn't learn like me b/c he wasn't reading by 3. silly me. he still learns like i do, but differently.

he's cool, zaya is

tumbleweedgirl said...

<--- pissed off the parents by failing utterly at cross stitching, crocheting, and knitting.

tumbleweedgirl said...

o and bella

i did email you. i feel silly saying that.

you can ignore it if you like, it's not so relevant any more.

twirldawg said...

I like learning stuff. Whatever catches my fancy. I wish I would have taken more classes in college that were not just major related though.
I did go out on a limb and take ballet for two semesters.

Angie said...

BD, that's really really sweet. :-)

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Rhys, I did not learn to crochet from my parents; someone else taught me. I am going to have a friend teach me how to hem sometime soon so I can turn A's too-short pants (that still fit on her waist) into capris.

Really Frugal said...

BD, knitting is way easier than crochet IMO.

I left cus blogger broke, and no one told me it was working again. Pout.

twirldawg said...

BD go for it!
I've been knitting for about 5 years. It's one of the few hobbies that took. That and sewing.

Lisa said...

"Um, AP, does that mean I should cancel the labia ice sculptures that I ordered for our wedding reception?"

Nooo, I can be a bigamist. Besides, I can't return the floating clitoris candles for the pool since I had them monogrammed.

Anonymous said...

I can sew, needpoint, garden, crochet but I can't knit. I tried to teach myself, not a good idea. I've been crocheting since I was 5.

Really Frugal said...

Jill, it isn't too late! My mom took classes from the time I finished HS until she died at age 62. No degree track, just a class or two every semester about anything and everything.

Angie said...

I want to learn Spanish. Need to find a class. Speaking of foreign languages, where's FT been this weekend?

Rhys said: "i did email you. i feel silly saying that." Kristin loves telling people she e-mailed them, Rhys! Get on board with it! ::humming Freedom::

Anonymous said...

TWG, I did get your email. I have yet to respond, because it will be lengthy, and I didn't have it in me today. Sorry.

In regards to the dynamic knitting/crocheting duo, just remember it's all BASIC. We have scarves coming out our behinds over here.

twirldawg said...

RF that is so cool.

My biggest issue is that I haven't truly found my passion yet. I thought it was teaching, but after 7 years I'm not so sure. I'm burnt out for sure.

Anonymous said...

Clitoris candles must not burn very long. Penis candles would burn longer, but they definitely would not go with the theme.

Anonymous said...

Bella, when Food, Inc meets The Road, we will all have scarves and hats, lol.

Angie said...

Both knitting and crocheting seem incredibly exotic and impossible to me. I tried to crochet a potholder when I was 10, and it was a disaster. It was supposed to be square, and it was vaguely bell-shaped. I might have been supposed to count the stitches before starting the next row?

Angie said...

Jill, I am so a member of the haven't-found-her-passion club. And it's getting late for me!

Jennifer-Lynn said...

It's 7:25, and both my kids are asleep.

I don't even know what to do with myself.

Anonymous said...

SW, I do count when I crochet. But I do it in an easy to remember number....rather than doing 24 crochets, I will do 20 or 30.

twirldawg said...

RF, will you make me this out of Irish Setter fur? http://www.vipfibers.com/free-keepsake-patterns.html#bikini

Delta Burke made bras?

BD, are you retiring early? Did I miss something?

King Corn is another good one, yep. I love these food expose' movies.

Anonymous said...

Sandy, I will crochet the chickens sweaters, and you shall make your hubby a gun cozy.

twirldawg said...

I didn't know Delta Burke made bras either. I must go seek them out.

Anonymous said...

Bella, sounds like a plan! ROFL

Really Frugal said...

AP, I will make nothing out of dog fur. Sorry. Too creepy for me.

Watching Hoarders. OMG. My super neatnik youngest has a sweet but crazy MIL who should be on that show. Impossible for her to spend time at their house because she gags and itches.

tumbleweedgirl said...

bella

no worries. take your time.

(:

sw

freedom is a lovely thing. we played outside 3 times in the past 4 days. it was mind boggling

Really Frugal said...

Now I am crazy to start knitting. It has been a whole month since I finished my last sweater and I feel the withdrawal symptoms.

Lisa said...

Would it be redundant to knit one of those out of cat fur?

Anonymous said...

I would spritz that with Vulva Original perfume, and then hang a Vulva pendant on it. Triple Vulva Power!

Erin said...

"Triple Vulva Power" Sounds like something you would find on a cleaning product!

Erin said...

Don't forget there is also vulva 'lip' gloss out there!

Anonymous said...

Shiny, glossed vulvas? Centerpieces at the wedding, for sure!

Lisa said...

SW, we could do gift bags like they do for the Emmys (Emmies?), but full of vulva products. Pink bags. And I can make some tampon angels to tie on the outside!

Lisa said...

I killed it with a tampon angel.

bookjunkie said...

From that pattern blog... "I even used a glow in the dark yarn for the clitoris so she's always easy to find!"

I don't knit or crochet but I'll contribute the glow in the dark yarn for this shindig.

Anonymous said...

I'm out ladies. I will go to sleep with visions of tampon angels in my head.

Good night!

Lisa said...

Goodnight, Sandy and anyone else going, going, gone.

BJ, that glow in the dark thing worries me. Whether it's your own or someone else's, you ought to be able to find it easily enough if you're wanting it without it needing to glow. On the plus side, I suppose it could be handy if you got lost in the woods.

bookjunkie said...

True, AP... I kinda thought the same thing when I read that. Ha! You're in trouble if ya have trouble locating it. I mean, it's pretty much the pleasure center.

Hmmm, well, if nothing else, that glow in the dark would come in handy if the centerpiece candles burn out, too.

bookjunkie said...

Don't forget the crocheted boobie pillow, too. Maybe for the rings? Y'all will have a ring bearer, right?

bookjunkie said...

Oops, here's the link... she's sold out right now but will make you a custom order.

"Hmmm, well, if nothing else, that glow in the dark would come in handy if the centerpiece candles burn out, too."

That's true...we could give them to each guest and they could wave them like people do with lighters at a rock concert.

She has boobie beanie caps, too, she says. That's sort of impressive. I'm not a boob girl, though. I like big asses. I wonder if anyone knits those?
