Happy Easter!

I hope he made it to your house early.
I also dare you to show your young kids this and take a picture of their faces. Please? Tell them it's okay, he'll resurrect in a few days just like Jesus.

Nice, AP. But where's the tomb?

Happy Sunday to all, and to Easter to those of you who celebrate.

I can't sleep, - sounding like my dad, coughing up a number of disgusting things. Nothing serious, just some PND (post nasal drip - not to be confused in NPD).

Payback for making fun of him doing it, I think.

PJ said...

Have to share my new avatar. It's me, really.

Hi CK, I'm just checking in and glad to find you here. Happy Easter to you!

Kristin: thanks! The party went really well, the food all turned out good, there was enough (I *hate miscalculating and running out of food almost as much as I hate making way too much and leating leftovers for a week.

We had a little incident with a klepto little cousin whose mother should have said something about him stealing. But she never does, he always does, and I always seethe after because he walks out of my house with something belonging to my children. Again.

Shortround was here and I just about died with love for him, he's 5 weeks old and when I was talking to him he would move his lips and tongue and make little sounds and his eyes would go all big like he wanted to talk to *me, I could have just eaten him up.

PJ said...

Hi FT!

Shortround sounds like a sweetheart. How wonderful for you to get to spend time with him this weekend.

You'll have to frisk that little cousin next time.

PJ said...

Gonna try sleep again. Night FT!

Goodnight, CK!

EWWW and Happy Easter!

kristin said...

Happy Easter all! I am up before my son and the sun! LM was exhausted. I didn't sleep well last night either.

AP - that is wrong, just wrong. I don't think LM will quite understand what resurrect means. Oh, and you know I was kidding (unless it turns out to be true) :)

Anonymous said...

Happy Easter, everyone!

AP- You are such a sentimental person :D

kristin said...

Happy Easter corinne! Doing anything today?

Anonymous said...

AP- I thought of something; do you think that your view of the healthcare system reform is impacted by the fact that you think a certain type of healthcare is overrated? What I mean is, you have said before that you think chemo and such go against the rules of nature and you, yourself, would decide against such treatments, so maybe that's partly why you think that the healthcare bill that was passed is inappropriate?

I don't mean that as criticism at all, I really appreciate the fact that you own up to what you think. I was just wondering. :)

Hi Kristin!

Today I'm being lazy and doing basically nothing! I had a busy day yesterday and I enjoy just being home :)
Do you have any plans for today?

kristin said...

We do - after the little easter egg hunt here, we are going to mom's and the whole fam damily will be there - we are eating dinner around 2:00 before my step-dad goes to lunch - she is doing an Easter Egg hunt for the kids (all 2 of them) and we will probably hang out around the pool and drink :) It is supposed to be about 85 today.

Working on finishing up my post from the "craft" we did yesterday.

Anonymous said...

Kristin - Sounds like you have a nice day ahead of you!

And, 85F? Wow. I think I should seriously consider moving to TX. It's about 40, here. And raining. Again.

kristin said...

It was about that hot yesterday, mom said the pool temp is 80 so some of the boys might end up in the pool today and maybe the kids which means I will probably get in too.

Yes, it was actually a bit warm yesterday and LM gets hot quickly and his poor little cheeks get all red. He was hot and tired yesterday and wasn't into finding eggs - until MiMi stepped in. :)

T@iy@ said...

Happy Easter, Daisies! Hope you all have lots of fun with the big furry thing that invades your house and lays eggs everywhere.

Haha @ the photo, AP. I'll have to bookmark that one and save it for when the kids are older. :)

Kristin- glad you got everything ready for LM. He's such a doll. We have a basket with some little toys and trinkets from Target, then a basket full of eggs to hide later.

CK- love the new avatar.

kristin said...

Thanks Taiya! I hope you have a great Easter too today!

Anonymous said...

Hi Taiya! Happy Easter !

New post is up on my blog :)

T@iy@ said...

Hi Corinne! Thanks. :)

T@iy@ said...

So Kristin is going to family.. what is everyone else up to?

We are going to church and then this afternoon we are having dinner at the in-laws.

T@iy@ said...

Well, off to finish boiling eggs, do some laundry, cleaning and get ready to go. bbl.

kristin said...

enjoy your day Taiya!

Margo said...

Poor bunny :(

Happy Easter for those who celebrate :)

FT - that's sad about klepto cousin. Children who are allowed to behave badly turn into adults who behave badly...

kristin said...

Happy Easter margaret - how is your daughter doing after C's passing?

Margo said...

Hi Kristin - she's ok, little sad now and then. Thanks for asking :)

Nilia said...

Margaret: exactly. Some other small cousins in the yard were throwing rocks at my (new!) windows but their parents stepped in. I tried to be relaxed last night but I get so riled up with these behaviours. I am shocked at the things parents will let their children do. My children are no angels, but they do not destroy anyone's property and they most certainly do not steal it. I have to start having these shindigs off-site. Sigh.

kristin said...

sorry FT :( Hopefully today will be more relaxed for you.

Nilia said...

Happy Easter to all those celebrating Easter today, and hoping you all enjoy the family get togethers and food!

Muliebrity said...

I am breaking a rule (I think) and posting a link to my blog. My babies are too cute and want to wish you all Happy Easter!

http://smithfamilyfollies.blogspot.com/2010/04/happy-easter.html

Muliebrity said...

And FT, tell me Shortround has a name?!

kristin said...

Mulie - very cute!

Nilia said...

Mulie, oh my gosh they are so darned cute, we do the bunny ears too, fun!

Shortround *does have a name, he was named on his 4-week birthday (?)finally, I love the name even though I didn't know it was even in the running! I thought I mentioned this here, sorry! I won't be posting his IRL name here though because he's not my son and quite frankly there are some strange people out there, you know who I mean, not the regular posters here but.... So I hope it's okay if his Daisy Aunties keep on knowing him as Shortround.

I slipped and referred to him as Shortround earlier today to my mother and then cringed waiting for the shit to hit the fan (long story, she is not amused by "Shortround") but she let me off easy. Sigh. I still think of him as Shortround and his real name is not natural on my tongue yet and I sometimes can't remember it at the moment I need to!

kristin said...

that's funny FT!

glad you were able to spend some time with him!

kristin said...

oh my - jimmy fallon is on electric company - and they are rapping - and beat boxing (???) and JM is doing that popping noise you do with your finger in your cheek - it was kinda funny.

Angie said...

Hi all! Easter caviar for everyone!! (Do tell, AP!)

Angie said...

Mulie, no rule against posting anything but "poop" here! Your boys are darling.

Lisa said...

Hi!

Mmm, bagels with cream cheese and lox for breakfast here! And SW, he loves caviar so I get him a little jar on holidays, weird as that may be. Nothing more exciting than that. Any plans for today?

Mulie, I love the pictures and you can post anything you want to post here. :-)

FT, can you ask his mother for the item back? That would piss me off.

And Corinne, sometimes I do let my softer side show, yes. :-D

Lisa said...

By the way, if anyone wants to see a couple of recent pics of Jake and one old, very sweet one of him, check my blog. I should have been hinting about it for days, I know.

kristin said...

morning AP!

I'm attempting to get ready to go to my mom's.

I finished up a post from the planting project that LM and his cousin did yesterday.

That is sweet about the caviar.

kristin said...

i saw AP and commented.

Lisa said...

Kristin, I *love how those pots turned out...what a great gift! And I just saw you visited, thank you. Have fun with your family today and I hope LM behaves. What time did he get up?

kristin said...

AP - He got up at 8:15 - but mommy got up at 7ish - I had to put SO's stuff out - I was amazed when I got out of bed and he was still asleep.

kristin said...

The pots were fun and A really enjoyed them - especially planting them. She was amazed that I knew how to plant. It was cute.

kristin said...

AP - I will have to tell you the story about the dog - she really is a sweet thing - she likes to give hugs - which is basically her putting her paws on your shoulders. Maybe a new blog post :)

Lisa said...

I'm sure she is sweet but she looks a lot like the dog that attacked me. :-/

Maybe LM is just over naptime and that's why bedtime and sleep is so hard for him?

kristin said...

not sure what you are saying - he slept like a champ last night.

They normally take a nap at school at around 12:30 - and on the weekends, I just let him whenever he falls asleep - which didn't happen yesterday b/c of too much excitement.

kristin said...

Sorry about the dog that attacked you - :(

Angie said...

Lordy, AP, I love your latest blog post. So much!

Angie said...

Kristin, you are such a good mom! The "impatience" project turned out great!

Nilia said...

AP: What he took was a little sword (he takes stuff like little figures, little animals, that kind of stuff) that belonged to a pirate set my youngest has. I asked him repeatedly with my hand out, IN FRONT OF his mother, father, grandmother and grandfather to give it back. Nobody said a word. He then used the sword to try to pierce holes in my plant by the front door, and to try to break my son's birthday balloons. Again, nobody said a word, just watched the unfold as I told him to stop it immediately. It was surreal.

Nilia said...

AP: you sneaky thing! I didn't check on your blog for a few and you went and did change it! I like it, it's retro and sweet. And don't you dare tell me that little angel grew up and shaved his eyebrows? Oh God, I don't know what's around the corner for me, I don't handle rebellion well.... I wonder if Kijiji has any remote islands for sale?

Kristin: gotta run, already late for Easter, I'm going to check your blog when I get back.

Happy Easter Sunday, everyone!

Nilia said...

AP: Still looking at your son's pictures, gosh he reminds me of someone and now it's bugging me, like reminds me of someone I know in real life... it's going to bug me all day. He looks like he'd be in a band, is he?

Gotta run for real.

Lisa said...

FT, I'd have taken that damn sword out of his hand and had a talk with him. Not saying *you should of...some family dynamics wouldn't tolerate that I know, but I have no issues at all correcting children in my own home if their parents aren't doing it.

Glad y'all are liking the pictures I put up! Thanks, FT, for the compliment on my redo, too. :-) Yep, the eyebrows are gone...hate it. But he's really not rebellious so much as artistic. And yes, he's in a band...two, in fact. One is a cyber band, with members in California and Australia, too. They're exceptionally good and have been sending demo tapes out, even getting a few bites. The other is just a little local thing for fun.

Lisa said...

Kristin, about LM's naps, he didn't have one yesterday (right?) and slept well. I'm wondering if he's not needing the nap during the day anymore and it's messing with his sleep when he does.

Shannon said...

Good morning ladies.

AP I loved the post you did and the pics of Jake...he is such a good looking boy and I love how individual he is. Makes me happy seeing a young man who has a mom who is happy with her son no matter how he chooses to look :) And I love how much you love him.

Kristin it looks like you guys had a blast. Maybe LM is past the need for naps. I know that Chris was done with scheduled nap times by the time he was 3 and if he had one it messed up his ability to go to sleep at a decent hour at night.

This last Friday was an interesting one as we got into some what political discussions and I really wish my friend Greg would stop listening to Glenn Beck LOL. He is convinced that Obama is a complete and utter socialist yet I think what it is is that we had a president who was leaning so closely to Fascist that the change back to other things is startling. I personally want to see the Federal government get out of State government and allow the country go in a direction back towards what this nation was founded to be.

Angie said...

FT, I can't stand to be around kids like that! I tend to be like AP: if the parents don't speak up, and it's in my house, I dang sure will. My sister got really pissed at me years ago when her girls (then 5 - 7, thereabouts) kept running in my house and I gently and pleasantly said, "No running in the house." She thought I was way out of line, and took her kids outside in a huff. I say no freaking running in the house. Since when it is okay to run in the house? I can't believe what a crotchety old lady I am at 45!

Hi Shannon! Glenn Beck is the devil. Or would be, if there was an actual devil.

Shannon said...

SW I totally agree LOL Glenn Beck is the devil LOL

Shannon said...

And I think that people should expect their homes to be respected by others who come into their homes. Would it be ok for you to go to someone elses home and disrespect everything in there?

Lisa said...

Hi, Shannon and thank you. :-)
Now, I've got to admit to something and boy, it'll be a wonder if I keep friends with this one. I like Glenn Beck. There, I said it. Now, granted, I don't agree with a lot of what he believes and says (I swear!), but there's some truth to what every pundit on either side puts out there and I've found he's a pretty palatable source of information as to what his "side" believes. I like hearing all the different perspectives and weeding out I feel to be true from that, though.

Obama is leaning heavily Socialist/Marxist but I do agree that Bush had heavy Fascist leanings but I don't think that's coloring the view of Obama. I just think we've wound up with two equally obnoxious and unhealthy extremes.

Lisa said...

Corinne, I forgot to tell you, I read those articles you posted yesterday - excellent reading - good background and information on the Tea Party while remaining pretty unbiased. I found myself nodding in both directions.

Shannon said...

I can probably still like you AP even if you do like the devil. Compared to Bill O'Riley he is a freaking saint and yes sometimes he does speak some stuff that can be food for thought but man he is a bit over the top sometimes.

And I do think that after 8 years of Bush and his form of "leadership" it is coloring Obama into a light of extremism. Like with my friend Greg he is only 26 years old so most of his experience in becoming aware of politics is through the Bush era.

Sandy - did C have an ok day?

kristin said...

Hey ladies - had an exhausting day but it was good. The kids got in the pool - started out with the feet and ended up on the first step - the water got up to 81 - still too cold for adults but the kids didn't mind.

As for naps, if he doesn't have one - he gets really cranky and defiant and he still gets really sleepy - so not sure.

My feet are killing me.

How was everyone elses Easter?

PJ said...

Hi all - back from my day. It's fun catching up.

I DO NOT like Glenn Beck.
I DO Like AP.

After all, we all have our blind spots.

Off to read some blogs.

Margo said...

81 is cold - yikes, you would not like our northern beaches :)

Now that my husband is back at work I'm the only one in the house that stays up past 8 pm...

PJ said...

Kristin - these other moms might be onto something. LM might be between needing a nap and not needing a nap.

If that's the reason for his early rising, you might have to walk the fine line between the two. Perhaps cut out the naps on the weekend, put up with a tired, cranky boy, but as a result, he might sleep later in the a.m.

It's always hard with these kinds of changes.

PJ said...

Margaret - 81 is warm. In Minnesota.

T@iy@ said...

I was thinking 81 was pretty warm. Especially since our source of swimming is Lake Michigan.

PJ said...

Lake Michigan - Brrrr at whatever air temp.

T@iy@ said...

For real, CK. We love it, though. So we suffer through it! Although I do a lot or reading on the beach in the sunshine while the hubs plays in the water.

kristin said...

FT - I too would have to step in and say something - or stand at the front door with my hand out. I know I say things to my niece - but it is understood that they can correct LM and as long as it is not something that is ridiculous and I do it respectfully - I can correct A.

I don't know how they relate but maybe mention to someone that has a closer relationship with them to say something to them, or say they are no longer welcome until they speak to the child about respecting other people's property.

kristin said...

alright - I'm sticky and I think LM is asleep. I am going to go jump in the shower.

kristin said...

Okay - looking at pics of me - eee gads! I still look pregnant - and that was almost 4 years ago - must go back to the gym. May do the free trial of weight watchers. Very sad!

Nilia said...

Kristin, I *did put my hand out! Under other circumstances I would have said or done more but I already get the stony face treatment for the little I dare to do. This is a repeat repeat repeat repeat situation. These kids take toys from my mom's house, and 2 years ago at my mom's summer house they took toys then too. This has been going on for years (her oldest same age as my youngest). If I say any more, she (the mother, who is my cousin's wife) is going to have a public fit and I don't want to upset my parents over this even though they agree with me. Fact is, her FIL, my uncle is my dad's brother and the other brother kind of cut his family out of his life so this brother is all my dad has. Complicated situation.

I told mom the next time they come over I am going to clear this house of toys, I swear, she'll find shelves bare with nothing bigger than a Little Tikes truck.

I fantasize about prepping my youngest to blatantly take something the next time we're at her place (well, not her place, she and dh and 3 boys live with my aunt and uncle). Only I don't want to teach my kids sneakiness like that, you know?

I'm already known for being particular with my home and my property and my children's behaviour (in normal ways, I don't understand people, you here all seem so normal, my family must just be nuts, is all...), I'm sure they all think I have a bat up my ass already and anything I do and any subsequent fallout is going to land squarely at my feet. Just can't win on this one.

Crap I am still so stewed about this today.

Easter egg hunt well well, kids were happy so I was happy. Youngest made a huge mess with a cream-filled egg in the van on the way home. Sigh.

Kristin: the pots turned out so cute! Not something I would have thought of doing, but what a great idea! Now that my brother has a child, we might do this next year to give grandma. Grandma loves flowers!

T@iy@ said...

Kristin- you just made me think of Music Man. :) The mayor's daughter runs around saying "Ye Gods!" and giggling. One of my fav movies.

FT- you are way nicer than me. I would be wrestling the kid to the ground to retrieve the toy. Okay, so maybe not, but I would definitely tell the mother that her child will be subjected to a search every time they leave. That would just be too much for me. It's bad enough when kids behave badly at your house, but that is ridiculous.

Angie said...

I am in the throes of housekeeper-prep hell. If I survive, I'll see you all tomorrow. If I don't, it's been nice knowing you.

Margo said...

I don't get the pre-housekeeper cleaning, but then my housekeeper is my mom and she knows how I roll.

T@iy@ said...

What is housekeeper prep?

kristin said...

I never understood that - when I was younger my mom would always make us clean before the housekeeper would come.

Now I just wish I could get one to come once a month or so :)

Margo said...

Some people clean before the housekeeper comes - at least I think that's what SW means.

Margo said...

Your pots are so creative Kristin - I might do that for mother's day.

kristin said...

Thanks - I figured it would be fun for LM and I usually give my mom and grandma a plant on Easter each year, so I figured I'd expand and do the sisters too - and bought enough in case my sis let her stepdaughter come - since the 2, when together, are inseparable.

T@iy@ said...

Seriously? My housekeeper just cleans what is there. Oh, wait, that's just in my wildest dreams that I *have a housekeeper. Never mind.

If I were paying someone, though, I would just let them clean what was there. I would probably make sure I didn't leave my dirty underwear laying around or something (which I do anyway, because eww), but otherwise I wouldn't clean for the cleaner!

My mom used to clean houses, though, and most of the ladies did that. Mom would always tell them to just leave stuff the way it was, but the never did.

kristin said...

so sad, I'm watching Extreme Home Makeover - this couple has 15 kids - and they adopted many (I think 11) - a few have special needs. They were living in a trailer for 18 months after Ike - but I heard about 2 weeks or so ago, the youngest passed away.

Nilia said...

Taiya: I know, I need a plan for the next time. These kids are terrors everywhere we go. I hate going anywhere with them like public parks, the scenes are too much and I just avoid invitations or suggestions for get togethers like the Black Plague.

Hi everyone :) I hope you all had a nice Easter weekend. We had back to back family parties, and I ate too much, but still had a 3 lb loss last week. Total: 7 lbs. I guess slow and steady is the way I roll, hehe.

My family has an "adult Easter egg hunt" every year. We hide tiny liquor bottles, eggs with dollar bills, eggs with candy, and eggs with slips of paper to redeem for prizes. It's a lot of fun, and to see my dad scrambling around for the tiny bottles of vodka is priceless. The grand prize this year was a $50 gift certificate to a local bar/grill...and I won it! Woo!

Hope everyone's kiddos had a good day.

Lisa said...

Can I just say that I'd be a lot more social if people I know had adult Easter egg hunts?

Kristin, it sounds like y'all had a fun day! Ours was nice, but very quiet. For the first time in many years, no one came but us three, despite normal invitations being issued. I'm not complaining - all of my "regulars" had family or other friends come through for them for once and I'm happy for that. It also meant less cooking, and in this heat, that was good. We kept it simple...ham, plain baked sweet potatoes we doctored to our own tastes, fresh green beans, potato rolls right out of the package, cold fruit salad, deviled eggs and stuffed celery. By the way, there's a new flavored tub of cream cheese out - spinach and artichoke. Mmmm! Perfect on celery right out of the tub. After that, Jake took requests while my mom sang and I do use the word "sang" loosely, lol...Peter Cottontail was the best one they attempted. We doctored her eye. We discussed Joel Osteen. It was good.

Lisa said...

FT, it's so hard to cause a fuss with family dynamics like that, yes. What if you just went about it in a totally nice way? "Oh, whoa, Sweetie, I'm sorry but that sword stays here, it's ours. (take the sword from the heathen as you say this) You can play with it next time, though, and I'm really glad you came!"

Re: cleaning ladies, I'm too weird about people touching my stuff to have a stranger coming in and doing it. But if I did, I'm thinking just picking up things out of the overall norm like dirty underwear in the floor or the coffee cup from 8 days ago in the living room would be enough. I figure they expect it to be dirty or I'd not need them.

Lord, I'm chatty tonight, it seems.

I'm here, Karen...Happy Easter! Lasagna sounds good. Did the kids have fun?

Did you look on eBay for that cord? I'm not sure if you read it several days ago or not, but we found Jake's there for under $20, shipped. It was some weird brand and it came from China but it works fine. It did take about 2 weeks to get there but it might be worth you checking into if you haven't already.

Ididn't see you say about checking ebay - I will do that tonight - I have been looking on craigslist and nothing there, but didn't think of ebay. patti found one at walmart for $79 which is better than $99 - are they like a universal type of replacement cord or do I have to look for a toshiba cord? i'm clueless.

The kids had a blast, they all went to their dad's first then here. we did egg hunt with the kids in the yard, with 2 one year old and one 2 year old and one 3 year old, we did alot of eggs in the grass, but it was alot of fun. then walked down to the park here in our apartment complex and played, my mom came and brought dirt cake in a bucket which was a big hit, and they all went home by 10 - Patti has been sick with some cold/sinus thing and today its in her chest and she's coughing, think tomorrow will be a day of doing nothing at all - I'm tired! but it was worth it, had alot of fun! can't wait to get a cord for the laptop so that i can download the pics from my camera. we invited a girl that was like a daughter to me and sister to angela when the kids were in high school - she seriously spent weeks at a time at our house, she was being raised by her grandma who was sick. they were all like siblings, and i invited her to come today and patti went and picked her up - and angela was so suprised to see her here, that was so much fun surprising her! so good to see her again!
