April 15th.

Did everyone git 'er done?

To soften the pain, take a travel mug to your nearest Starbuck's and get a free brewed coffee in it.  It has to be a travel mug, though.  Anyone else have any tax day freebies to share?

And lastly, if you're getting money back and many, many Americans are, take a moment and help Chris.  Even $5...just help.  You can afford it better right now more than most times, right? Caring For Chris

Kaytie, from the last post, you said:

"The foxnews virus piece made me cry. I took care of some of the first AIDS patients in Seattle and the thought of more viruses...well, it makes me cry."

It does me, too. I lost the best friend I'd ever had back in '98 to AIDS...do you remember that? Paul? His sister is a NP (lol, I know how you feel about *those but she's a good one, I think) who devotes her life to caring for AIDS patients now. I never knew you'd done this, too, and my heart loves you more for it. We don't hear as much about AIDS now as we did but I'm convinced there's a lot we still do not know. For example, feline leukemia - call it what you will but it's cat AIDS. I got Cat Scratch Disease in my early 20's from a cat with FeLV and my own immune system has been compromised since. So I read articles like this one and frankly, it worries the hell out of me. :-(

For real, each and every one of you suck a little bit.

Why, after all this time, has no one alerted me to this typo in the General Information here?
"Hem's the rules...all of them. Have fun!"

Hem's? *Really? I'll go fix it now but I'm thinking y'all need to be ashamed.

KaytieJ said...

AP - Oh yes...I do remember Paul! That was so hard on you and bless you for remembering him.

I still remember clearly the shock of all these beautiful (at that time) men, covered with Karposi's Sarcoma and we did not know what was causing it. I was just a fresh grad and had no clue really of the world. I grew to love them, their partners and families, it changed my view of the world.

Sigh...life of a night shifter...I drank too much coffee in the afternoon and I should have had that vodka Kristin was offering :-D

Karen - my late night buddy, I miss you!

SW - What did you think of the AI results? Adam was on and I was thrilled! The bubble effect lasted a bit too long, but that was the point of it, I guess. Made me sing that song, "Anticipation" :-D And for the first time I liked Kara after seeing the footage of her visit to Africa in support of the building of the schools. And as always, Ellen made me smile.

Hey DK!

Sorry AP - I think I "glazed" over the rules once - didn't catch it, and haven't looked since.

oh and Happy birthday to Stinky!

Hi everyone!

Lindsay - Happy (belated) birthday to Grady!
And, Grant's text message cracked me up :D

Kaytie - The article you posted is scary. As if there weren't already enough deadly viruses.

AP - I read somewhere that impotence is grounds for divorce in 26 U.S. states. That is so very wrong, imo.

Christy - I had an amazing time last night! Thanks for asking. I'm glad to see you back, btw :)

dkmissie - Happy Birthday to Stinky!

OT- There was a volcano eruption in Iceland and the German, Belgian and Dutch air spaces will most likely be closed this afternoon because of the Volcano ash cloud. The British air space was already shut down this morning. Crazy, huh?

Morning Daisies.

Wow, that is crazy, Corinne! I'll have to hit The ol' Google and check it out.

Is it bad that I am kind of in a man-hating funk right now? No, it doesn't extend to my husband at all. I love him and he is wonderful, but in general I am just disgusted by the things i have learned about several men in the last few days. Ugh.

Anonymous said...

Taiya, you can join my man-haters club! LOL

Lindsay said...

Good morning :)

Thanks Corinne :) My phone freaked out last night, so I ended up deleting the whole strand of yesterday's texts. Pooh.

Happy Birthday Stinky!

I've never, ever, ever been accused of hating men. Never. And my husband has never been the object of my dislike. Ever.

KaytieJ - I prefer to live my life like an ostrich with my head in the sand. I don't want to find out about more viruses.

Lisa said...

Quick good morning to everyone - gotta take Miss Arse to the eye doctor in a minute.

Happy birthday to Stinky! How old is she today?

Kaytie, I fixed the typo by the time you saw it but I'm still ashamed of everyone.

I don't hate men but I think even the best of them have some weakness when it comes to being faithful to one person. I think many manage to do so despite that weakness but overall, but I think they are more easily tempted and more apt to give into it than women. I also think that, overall, they're better liars. It's all because they aren't so emotional, probably. And that's my psychoanalysis of the male species...see y'all later.

TxMissie said...

Stinky is 2 :D I will be back later with pics from her family party today

Anonymous said...

dkmissie - That whole volcano eruption is crazy. I never thought it could cause so many problems!

Kaytie & AP- Have you ever seen 'Angels in America'? If not, it is definitely worth watching. It's a mini-series about the AIDS crisis in the 80's.
Also, the novel 'A home at the end of the world' by Michael Cunningham is wonderful. AIDS is not the main topic, but one of the characters is dying from it. The whole book is very poignant and deals with many issues in our society.

Hi Lindsay, Taiya, Kristin, dkmissie, Kristin & Sandy!

T@iy@ said...

Okay, so I shouldn't have said 'hate' I am just *so disgusted with a few of them right now that it is coloring the rest. Although, like I said, my hubs has nothing to do with it, and he is a prime example of why I don't actually *hate men. :D

Anonymous said...

Hi AP! I hope Miss Arse's appt goes well!

T@iy@ said...

Happy birthday to the 2 year old! :)

Lindsay said...

AP - I have a confession. I noticed the way you spelled Hem and I just pictured you saying "them" with some kind of southern twang. ::blushes:: Good luck to Miss Arse.

I have to say, I have been surrounded by just as many women with problems being faithful lately as men. I know several who are either having an affair or out trolling. I think adultery is an equal opportunity offender.

Robin in Montana said...

Lindsay, I do, too. And I think women are maybe *better at lying and covering it up than men. There's my armchair psychologist thought for the day.

Okay, the jalapeno poppers - I did what she said on her stint on the View, and did cream cheese with grated cheddar (also added some seasoning salt), stuffed the jalapeno, stuck a piece of pineapple on top, wrapped in bacon, brushed with barbecue sauce and then baked. I think Kelly may be cheating on ME with jalapeno poppers, lol. He said they were the best he ever had.

Other than that, I got nothin'. I did see the news about the volcano ash cloud - that's crazy!

Robin in Montana said...

Oh, and happy birthday to Stinky!

LisaAP- I hope Miss Arse's appt. goes well today!

T@iy@ said...

Lindsay- actually I should be equal opportunity irritated right now, actually, because I just found out about a friend's wife has been cheating and wants to 'separate' but she refuses counseling and doesn't want to stay with him. She is just hanging on to him until her bf gets back from overseas in a few months. They have 2 kids and he found an e-mail from her to the bf saying that she can't wait until he gets home so that 'her' kids and the bf's kids could help them make one big happy family. I am just irritated with the world today, i guess. Banks are also on my hit list, as well as the jerk who lets his dog crap on my front lawn every morning and doesn't pick it up. *sigh* I am really in a bitchy mood now that I think about it.

T@iy@ said...

Mmm... jalapeno poppers sound yummy. Is it bad that I didn't catch up on what I missed yesterday and last night? lol. Just started bitchin'.

Just because everyone *needs to know. My dog howls when sirens go by.

Anonymous said...

I don't think men cheat more than women do, overall. I do believe, as RiM said, that women are better at lying about it. Men can't lie.

Lindsay said...

((Taiya)).

I watched PW on the View, too and jalapeno poppers looked delish! I kid you not, I almost spelled "jalepeno" and had to go back and fix it. And now I saw what you guys meant about the cheesy olive bread. Lord, I gained 5 lbs just watching the segment!

T@iy@ said...

I should say *vehicles with sirens, because otherwise it sounds like I mean another kind of siren, which isn't it. :)

Anonymous said...

In other news, I think I am over Mckmama and her BS. I got really bored catching up on MWoP. It must be a sign.

Robin in Montana said...

Taiya - I think your friend's situation has just kind of thrown you into an eye-opener as to the shenanigans that go on all the time. I don't mean that bitchy at all, but I just think it happens way more often than you realize, and that people you'd never ever suspect are capable of it, or have done it. My best IRL friend has cheated at least twice that I know of, on her first husband. There are a billion factors leading up to why she did it, although that does not excuse it at all. She knows she has these issues and these 'needs' (and I don't mean sexual) and with this guy she has now been with for five years, I see her working like crazy to keep that relationship on track for herself personally, to tell him how she's feeling and if she's feeling like she needs something outside of what they have, etc. He has known her since they were in 5th grade or so, they went out in early high school, and he knows all the stuff she's been through with being abused as a kid by an uncle, with being raped in middle school, he knows about the affairs, he knows ALL of it, and he stands by her and loves her and does all he can to keep her (admittedly sometimes completely irrationally schizo self) as happy and fulfilled as he can. I really think for her, if she were with any other man, she'd cheat again in a heartbeat. I think it's just easy to say, oh, a cheater is just a piece of shit, period, when in all reality, while it is not ever okay, some people don't do it purely out of shittiness.

Okay. Rant over.

Anonymous said...

Taiya - I'm sorry you have to deal with all that. :(

Lindsay said...

Yay Corinne! I still check in at MWoP, but now I'm looking at the drama between the posters and trolls there, not because I care about JM. Isn't it refreshing :)

Robin in Montana said...

LIndsay - that olive cheese bread is the shizzle, I tell you. It's ridiculously good.

Corinne - I think men can lie, and some of them are damn good at it, but I think they're more sloppy with covering up tracks, like computer and phone stuff, and underestimate the nosiness of a woman once she's suspicious. lol.

Taiya - you need a little pellet gun with some rock salt. No more pooping on your front lawn dog. Or owner. :-D

Anonymous said...

RiM- True, true ;-)

Lindsay- It is SO refreshing! Honestly, I skimmed through teh comments and I had major OHiH flashbacks :D
I've become pretty much indifferent to JM because there's nothing we can say or do that will change her. One day or another, she will have to deal with the demise of her blog and the loss of income that'll come with it. But that's her problem.

Lindsay said...

Can somebody please tell me why I thought I would be a good PTSA president? I'm too shy. This is going to kill me.

T@iy@ said...

You are absolutely right, Robin. It isn't even that I didn't know about it, or that I had my head in the sand. I am just so irritated for my friends right this moment that I can't stand it.

One of my best friends has cheated herself while in committed relationships, so i can't pretend like I think all cheaters are scum, because I love her. I can't say i thought it was cool, but I don't hate her for it.

I actually can't even say it would be an instant out for me if Matt cheated. Although if he did it the way these other 2 guys did it would be.

I took care of the dog-poop neighbor, I think. I just bagged up his dog crap and handed it to him on his front porch and told him to keep it off of my lawn because I have a 2 year old. He doesn't like me much now. Oops.

T@iy@ said...

Lindsay- What is a PTSA president?

Lindsay said...

I'm leading our parent teacher student association this coming year. Nobody stepped up to do it and they were going to shut it down. It really is important. We raise money and donate a lot of things to the school that isn't in the district budget. I know it will teach me some things about myself and it's definitely going to be a growing experience, but I hate having to speak in front of people. And I hate having to make decisions that I know some people are going to dislike. I'm kind of a people pleaser, so this should be interesting!

T@iy@ said...

Okay, the 'S' in there threw me off. Sounds like a big undertaking! I don't envy you the leadership position. It's impossible to corral people in the same direction without stepping on toes somewhere. Good luck!

Anonymous said...

Um...I really don't have a man haters club. Sometimes my mom and I will go to lunch and she'll bitch about my dad and I'll bitch about hubs. We joke around and call it the man haters club.

Me personally, I think women cheat just as much as men. We are more emotional about it so when it happens to a close friend, we were already emotionallly involved with them.

I have a friend who left her husband and KIDS to be with a real piece of work. After he got what he wanted out of her, she was left on her own. It's really sad.

Lindsay said...

So, I know I said I was over JM (and I am) but I love baby names and so I went over to see what names were tossed about on her blog. Umm. I see waaaay too many Grayson's being suggested to feel comfortable. McKFlurry can not be named Grayson. Period.

T@iy@ said...

Sandy- I understand. lol. i will gripe about my husbands cleaning habits and definitely about his family. My Mom will gripe about Dad and my friends will whine about their husbands... :) It's the way we are.

Anonymous said...

Be back in a bit. I have to clean the cockatiel cage. The bird is psycho and I'm sure I'll be bit half a dozen times.

T@iy@ said...

Did you tell her that, Lindsay? :D Just wanted to know how it goes over. ha

Maybe I should go suggest Eeq to her. :D

Lindsay said...

I'm thinking of it Taiya. I don't think it would go over too, too well. Will you give me a virtual high five if I go over and suggest Eeq?

Anonymous said...

Lindsay- I highly doubt she will pick Grayson. It is not the same style at all as Kieran, Cullen, Stellan & Maisie. I could see her going with something like Deacon, Declan (which I adore, so I hope she won't) ;), Brogan, Quinlan, Lachlan, Tiernan, etc.

Re: cheating.

Honestly, I can see being in a relationship that is less than fulfilling and falling for someone else. Again, I don't think getting involved with someone new before ending the relationship is right, but I thhink I can understand. That said, I will never, ever sympathize with someone who's cheated on her/his bf/gf repeatedly and with different people every time. There is no excuse for that.

Shannon said...

Corinne what you say about cheating is so true. Honestly if you are so unhappy in your marriage just get out....or if it is a marriage of convenience tell them flat out...I dont like you and I am cheating LOL IDK it just kind of bugs me when things go unsaid and people cheat, my ex was one of those.

Robin in Montana said...

But for many reasons "getting out" is not always feasible in any way, you know? And communicating isn't always an option if the person you are with doesn't want to hear you. Not in regards to cheating, but it took me leaving for Travis to actually *see and *hear all the things I had been saying to him for years. He just couldn't or wouldn't listen because he felt like he was "safe". My friend that Imentioned earlier was also one of those -- she begged him to just actually *see her, to be involved with their kids, to be a husabnd, be a father, stop being a 40-year old child drinking beer and golfing with the boys. He just couldn't see it until she was actually gone. He does not know about her affairs. He's now remarried and has another child, and has continued the pattern, and that wife has also cheated on him and then left (although she came back.) So like Corinne said, I can see someone getting emotionally involved while still with someone else, without getting out first. There's a lot of factors. Not excusing it, just thinking.

Robin in Montana said...

And FTR, my friend's ex isn't a jerk in the classic sense. He didn't abuse her, either physically or emotionally, he wasn't abusive to the kids, he just was ... absent. In every way.

Anonymous said...

RiM - I will say, I have been cheated on - not by M., he was the best BF in the whole wide world and we still get along great although we broke up - and it hurt like hell. Probably because I couldn't bring myself to hate that man. And, everyone told me that guy was a jerk from the get-go, I guess I just wanted to ignore the 'rumors' about him. Anyways, that's why I have strong feelings about cheating. I guess it depends on everyone's experience.

Robin in Montana said...

Corinne - definitely.

Anonymous said...

RiM, I agree with you on so many levels.

Anonymous said...

I know what it's like to be cheated on married and single. I just could not inflict that kind of hurt onto someone because I know how deep that hurt is. Even living as I do, I still could not do it.

T@iy@ said...

RiM- I agree, there are definitely things where the spouse/SO aren't being heard. That is why i kind of have a gray area view of cheating in my marriage. i feel like i know Matt, and if he felt the need to cheat I would have to evaluate our relationship and see what part I may have played. i would be super pissed about it still, but I would honestly have to think about it. It definitely depends on the situation.

Lindsay- definitely would give you a virtual high five if you suggested Eeq. I could find some other really fun names for you to try , too.

Miss Arse is doing better-ish, thanks for asking. He thinks the cataract itself is causing some issues so she's going for a sonogram next week to make sure there's nothing else at work, then if not, they're going to go ahead and take it off in a couple of weeks. It'll be a touchier recovery but there's really no alternative.

I used to make my own laundry soap...it was pretty good. I used borax, washing soda and a grated up bar of fels naptha. It doesn't suds up but the clothes were certainly clean. What recipe are you using and Robin, what's yours for the yogurt?

As for my analysis of men, don't mind me. I'm probably dead wrong. It's not like I've got a great track record in that whole department, anyway. :-)

Hi all! I forbade myself from checking in here until I finished filing my taxes, and I just got finished – yay! Last night I went through six months of mail looking for the documents, and couldn’t find my W-2. Thankfully our firm’s accountant had a copy, so it all got done. The dread of it is way worse than the execution (thanks to Turbotax) so I don’t know why I wait until the last minute every year.

Catching up on comments:

Kaytie, I completely agree that the first part of Glambert’s song went on too long last night. I was hoping that he’d sing something different than he did. I’m getting tired of that song. But I still have mad love for him and think he did a great job as a mentor. I was happy with who went home.

The mold I have is of a 5 pointed North Star (reminds of the one I have on the barn). I feel giddy...I hardly ever buy anything for myself, except books :-D

Robin in Montana said...

That's awesome, Kaytie! I hope it turns out really well!

KaytieJ said...

hd - Infusion Center? For Chemo?
And what are you sewing? The volunteers and some of the nurses do quilting and make them for our patients. They are beautiful and much appreciated.

KaytieJ said...

Thanks Robin - that Oregon Trail site is run out of Rogue River, Oregon. Sounds like you may have been by there.

Lisa said...

Hi all, and an extra hi out to hd - it's nice to meet you!

I've actually read the Anderson woman's blog before and find her hilarious! She doesn't upset me a bit; she's a fun read. Her husband is the pastor who got "abused" (only not) by border patrol while back, remember?

Kaytie, I'm glad you bought yourself something fun!

*yawns* That was a most unsatisfying nap I just had.

KaytieJ said...

"I've actually read the Anderson woman's blog before and find her hilarious!"

:::scowling::: Shannon - we missed our fireworks moment. Sigh.

Shannon said...

APie does that all the damn time....I am thinking she may not be as fun as we thought LOL

Robin in Montana said...

Kaytie - I know exactly where that Oregon Trail site is, and it's very cool. We once had a hound dog that we got from some people who lived about a half mile from there and he would always run away and go home. So the longest time, when we would go back to Oregon to visit, when we'd be heading down that streth of I-5, we'd say, "oh, look, there's Bill" (the dog." Lame, I know. Hey, we were rummy, that was 13 hours into the drive. :-D

hd said...

Hi AP,
Kaytie, yes, for chemo patients. I make hats and fabric covers for infusion tubes that have a ribbon strap to wear around their neck...does that make sense?? lol My dad currently gets 48 hr infusions bi-weekly so this little gadget I sew makes it easier for people who are going thru this and need to wear an infusion tube. It leaves me with a great feeling when I bring hats in and see them being worn...many of these people don't sew.

Robin in Montana said...

That guy is just mad because he didn't *really get abused by Border Patrol. ::smiles knowingly:::

KaytieJ said...

:::obsessively googling where to buy hops:::
I really want hops in that soap. I'm afraid I will smell like a Mojito if it is just mint and grapefruit.
So far, only found hops in big quantities. Hmmmm...maybe I should buy a home beer brew kit for the leftovers....UGH! This is why I should never start home projects, they just snowball!

hd said...

wait.....I meant he gets treatments every OTHER week.....not twice a week lol fried brain here

kristin said...

Kaytie - might want to get with Bella - she is the brewmiester (sp?) and will probably know where to get Hops.

KaytieJ said...

hd - What a wondeful idea and gift! I know they are appreciated. Sorry to hear about your dad, though, and I hope the treatments are working. Hard to see your loved ones going through that.

KaytieJ said...

wondeful = wonderful. I know, I know.

KaytieJ said...

hd - No worries. Got what you meant - that would be a heck of a lot of chemo in one week.

KaytieJ said...

Oh Bella......Got Hops? :-D

bookjunkie said...

Hey y'all! I came over here from MWOP, too. I swear I'm not a crazy troll from over there. ;) I feel like I'm eavesdropping at a great party though and felt like I should "introduce" myself.

Y'all are downright hilarious and I've enjoyed reading over the last few days. So thrilled to see Elisabeth (and Chris!) over here, too. I admit as a single (well, dating) 38-year-old woman, I was sad to hear you're not the least bit interested in women romantically, Chris. Those beautiful blue eyes and your awesome sense of humor make up for it though, so I'll forgive you. =)

I have a confession... I clicked over here a while back from one of AP's posts on MWOP. I skimmed a few posts and saw that each one had 200 or more comments. I was thinking, "Dang, this chick finds some really funny pics and videos. She must have a ton of readers because she gets LOTS of comments." I did NOT even bother to read the comments, just the posts. Can you believe what an idiot I am, LOL! I've been missing out all on all of your hilariousness (is that a word?) this whole time.

KaytieJ said...

Hello Bookjunkie!
Got Hops? Sorry, I get obsessive when I am in project mode :-D
What books do you like? That is my other obsession - or was - until AP drug me over here
:-D

Shannon said...

LOL Hello bookjunkie....or should I call you bj for short :)

The core of this group have pretty much been "together" for like a year now since the days of the infamous OHIH.....yeah we are pretty fun that is why we stick with each other :)

hd said...

Hi Bookjunkie,
Nice to meet you. These gals seem like a riot and I'm glad I found them too!

kristin said...

OMG - No you did'nt - f'in hysterical Shannon!

Hi Bookjunkie!

Glad you guys came to join us! :)

Shannon said...

Well Kristin I almost typed just "Hello BJ" without thinking about it so I did it as an after thought instead.

:)

This is my brain on math

Robin in Montana said...

I'll just say it -- hi, BJ! :)

Robin in Montana said...

Okay, I am out for now. Have had my fill of drama (elsewhere) for the day and now have to get my tax extension mailed (I do not know what you mean by procrastinating) and get dinner going. Back later, probably tomorrow!

kristin said...

bye RiM - I figured you'd say it.

Have a good evening!

KaytieJ said...

"This is my brain on math"

LOL! I love it! I shared that saying with my son who is working on his math right now. He loved it too!

bookjunkie said...

Crap, Shannon, I never thought about bj being the initials of my name. Ha! Maybe I'll change to my real name anyway, Molly. I get so confused posting under an alias anyway. It's hard enough for me to remember who the heck I am most days without a nickname to remember, too.

Ohhh, KaytieJ, I love books, any and all kinds of books, LOL. My BF laughs at me because I have books in every nook and cranny in my house. I like some historical fiction, mysteries, true crime, and chick lit sometimes, especially in the summer when we're at the river or beach a lot. Just finished a great book, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, by Stieg Larsson. Loved it.

I'm in south (middle of nowhere) Georgia. If you want peaches, peanuts or cotton, I gotcha covered but no hops.

KaytieJ said...

Nite RiM - I loved your story about Rogue River and Bill :-D

Shannon said...

Robin is sooo my hero :)

Molly I like that a lot better......BJ just falls into the worship area too easy

Lindsay said...

Hi BJ! Just to warn you, I may just call you that because I'm such a fan of worship!

KaytieJ said...

Molly - I have "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"...have not read it yet :::avoiding eye contact with AP::: I like Stieg Larsson's books - so sad, I think I read he passed away.
Have you read "The Hummingbird's Daughter"? It is one of my favorites. It is by Luis Alberto Urrea. It is a bit of all the genres you listed.

KaytieJ said...

Dinner tonight - I think I am going to have me some of my "free range by day" chickens. They not only shredded my Hostas they decimated my garlic shoots. Nobody messes with my garlic. Hmmmph!

Robin in Montana said...

::wrings Kaytie's chicken's necks:::

<---not a fan of chickens.

Sorry, Fersher! :-D

I too am a fan of the worship as we all know, but I'll call you Molly or BJ, as you wish.

Okay, for real I'm going. I think.

bookjunkie said...

LMAO... too funny. BJ, Molly, crazy lurker chick, whatever. I was going to change my profile to Molly but I just gotta leave it at BJ b/c of you, Shannon. ;) I'm sure my boyfriend will be thrilled to know of my new online persona, huh?!

KaytieJ- I had The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo for probably a year. Kept starting it and just could not get into it. When I finally did, though, I could not put it down. I had to go out and buy the next one, The Girl Who Played With Fire. There's a 3rd one due to be out this year sometime. Yes, very sad about the author. Will look for The Hummingbird's Daughter.

Shannon said...

LMAO BJ if I had that as my name my husband would be the happiest man in the universe.....he is one of THOSE men LOL

Robin in Montana said...

Which men *aren't one of those men? lol.

Robin in Montana said...

LOL - Kristin at your comment on my FB status. It wasn't meant naughty. LOL!

kristin said...

tee hee :)

I'm sure it wasn't but all your talk of worship...just popped in my head.

I need to start making a list of all the book recommendations b/c when I want a book I forget what book was talked about and I don't want to search through all the posts to find it again.

Shannon said...

Very true Robin....I think all men would give up sex all the way around if they could have that all the time LOL

Robin in Montana said...

Well, even if they're getting it all the time, they still feel the need to *talk about it all the time, lol.

Robin in Montana said...

I need some book recommendations as well.

Really Frugal said...

I have been reading along here since day one - I probably deserve some kind of lurker prize. Funny as ever, but now all these even funnier new women. I find myself in need of some comic relief today, so thought I would de-lurk, however briefly.

Lindsay said...

RF - I was wondering what happened to you :) Glad to see you again!

Robin in Montana said...

Hi RF. :-)

bookjunkie said...

I do that, too Kristin. I try to add books to my wish list on Amazon when I hear about new ones but usually forget to do that.

You're probably right Shannon. Have y'all ever heard of the Sweet Potato Queens Book Of Love by Jill Conner Browne? sweetpotatoqueens.com She talks about "the promise" of a BJ... the promise can get your man to do whatever it is you want from him but the actual deliverance of said promise is something totally different and never (or rarely) happens.... just keep smiling and promising. LOL

Ok, gotta head to work for the night. Nice to "meet" everyone. Y'all have a good evening!

Angie said...

Hi RF! ::waving:: Hi BJ and hd! Welcome!

bookjunkie said...

Geez- here I am just introducing myself and talking of nothing but books and BJs. It's all your fault, Shannon! ;) Really going to work now.

Really Frugal said...

Hi, Lindsay and RiM. Honestly, Lindsay, nothing very exciting has happened to me, other than a marvelous trip to FL. Other than that, my life has been profoundly boring.

Really Frugal said...

Hi, SW. How're the billables?

Lisa said...

RF!! Oh, I'm glad to see you - I have missed you. How are you? :-))

Hd, I really hope your dad gets better...it's so sweet what you're doing for people. Believe me, it's a huge help and such a clever idea.

Molly, welcome in..the more the merrier. I'm glad you figured out where we actually talk. ;-)

Kaytie, you sure do avoid eye contact with me a lot. :-P

Robin, drama? Did the ex buy the wrong size socks?

Lisa said...

Belladonna, are you out there? I don't really need anything, just checking 'cause I was thinking about you.

PJ said...

Hi RF, BJ, HD!

Welcome to the world of initials.

PJ said...

Hey SW - glad to hear you got those taxes done.

TurboTax makes my world happier too.

Love,
The Daisy CPA (inactive)

Really Frugal said...

AP, I'm okay, but very sadly you were at the center of a battle with my darling 4 yo granddaughter. She wanted a second day at Magic Kingdom with her princesses. I wanted a day on the Space Coast for AP stalking. She won.

KaytieJ said...

"Robin, drama? Did the ex buy the wrong size socks?"

ROFLOL! I have to admit I was waiting for her to *spill on the drama, and then the nerve of her to leave without spilling!

Lisa said...

"Welcome to the world of initials."

Isn't that the truth?

RF, she was making the more exciting choice, trust me. :-) When were you here? If it was recently, you got some beautiful weather!

Really Frugal said...

We were there with friends beginning of March. Froze our asses off. Trip with son's family was end of March and the weather was great - rainy one day, but we used that for the Marion Flea Market. We all needed socks. Actually that last day at MK was almost too hot. It was the day the little boy collided with the bus at Fort Wilderness. So tragic.

PJ said...

Sounds like Jennifer is going to the same homeschooling conference my niece and her husband are going to. This is the Wicked Niece, not the Amazing Niece who is volunteering as a nurse in Togo. But I certainly don't judge.... ha.

It's surprising they are sisters.

One got all the compassion, and one got all the selfishness.

PJ said...

Wicked niece is the one who gives her daughters benadryl regularly so they go to sleep without a fuss at night.

She also charged my sister & her husband "rent" for storing some of his things in their basement.

But she doesn't hesitate to use my sister's internet connection, ask her to babysit, or let sis and BIL help them out buying their house.

Really Frugal said...

CK, sounds like my daughters - total opposites. I was glad to read that your daughter is getting some relief.

Lisa said...

RF, that was a sad thing, that boy getting hit. Disney's had a string of bad luck lately. You did get some extremes in temp, though.

How are things with your MIL?

PJ said...

Thanks RF - isn't amazing how sisters can be so different?

My sister and I have very different lives, but we are a lot a like.

Really Frugal said...

MIL has gone through a lot of tough stuff. We almost lost her a couple of times, but they finally got her back on the meds she needs, and she was amazing at the last visit, playing with the baby and making treats for GD. But she and Gentleman Friend have decided they will likely move to Milwaukee area where most of the family is. Everyone is researching assisted living apartment. I hope we get them to do it. It will make our lives easier and theirs richer with all the third and fourth generation company she would have.

Shannon said...

RF!!!!! It is sooooo good to see you!!!!!

And I am really glad I have a name and not initials :)

Shannon said...

Very glad to hear that your MIL is finally doing better that is good news indeed.

Really Frugal said...

I have a name, too; I just really don't like it. And we saw what happened when AP tried to morph back to Lisa. I actually have considered using my name since my blog is dead from neglect and that's where the RF came from.

Really Frugal said...

And Thank you, Shannon. I too am glad MIL is doing so well, but we still have to accept that the woman is really old. As hard as it is, the end is inevitable :(

Shannon said...

See the thing is is that when we get used to the initials we have a hard time switching to real names......we are like old dogs and cant learn new tricks so easily :)

Lisa said...

RF, you can make yourself a brand new name, if you like. We won't know it's not your real one but I suspect you'll always be RF, too. It's good to hear your MIL is doing better, very good news. Moving with more family will help, too...at that age, family is the best thing ever. Not that y'all aren't family, but you know what I mean.

Shannon said...

My ex's wife is one who doesnt like to accept age.....her grandmother is O.L.D like over 100 in fact this November she will be 108....crazy.

The end is inevitable but at least now your MIL gets to have some more time and not have to deal with the stuff now that they have her back on the right meds and such. And I love that she has a gentleman friend.

kristin said...

Hi RF! Hope you are doing well!

Really Frugal said...

Yeah, we are her closest family at this point, but only because we are the ones willing to drive 40 hours round trip to see her! And there are three new babies around Milwaukee that she hasn't even seen yet.

Really Frugal said...

Hi, Kristin!
:::waving wildly:::

Shannon said...

Sounds like that will be an amazing move for her....being closer to family is very important in my opinion especially as you start getting "up there".

My grandparents moved back home from AZ last year because they recognized that they have enough health problems that it is better to be where others are close enough to help if needed.

kristin said...

okay - I need to go make dinner.

be back in a bit.

RF - waving back - i've missed ya :)

Shannon said...

I am making a roast so it got put in the over about a 1/2 hour ago.....I love roast and stew cause you just put it in and check it in a couple hours :)

KaytieJ said...

Hello RF!

Hey Kristin - Hope your day went ok!

KaytieJ said...

Shannon - and it makes the house smell so good, too.

Shannon said...

alrighty I am gonna go game nerd for a while.....my husband is making me want to play games with his godfatherin LOL

Shannon said...

Oh yes it does....I hate that part though because I get so stinkin hungry :)

KaytieJ said...

Shannon - Let me guess...Mafia Wars :-D Or is this code for Worship ;-D

Shannon said...

LOL I wish it was code for worship....he is playing Godfather 2 and picking up whores and taking over strip clubs LOL

KaytieJ said...

He's just working up an appetite :-D

Really Frugal said...

I know nothing of these games, and only vaguely remember worship. I feel out of this conversation!

Shannon said...

LOL you say that like it is a good thing :) That poor man has been neglected in the worship department since he started working...I am out like a light before 10 now....dammit.

Really Frugal said...

KaytieJ, an appetite for what?

Shannon said...

Think grand theft auto RF it is a lot like that but instead of gangsters it is mobsters LOL

KaytieJ said...

RF - working up an appetite for Shannon's roast that is in the oven.

KaytieJ said...

Shannon - you're off by now, but I sure hope his work is going well with him and good luck with your test tomorrow!

T@iy@ said...

Hey Daisies- Old and New. :)

AP- Weren't you Lisa yesterday? Did I miss something that made you go back to AP? Or was it just because everyone liked you as AP?
