White trash or practical country?

I think we can all guess who sent me these but I won't say and let everyone guess. That said, she thinks these are white trash.  Huh. All I know is, I want the chicken rake for my own yard.

As I take another look at this one, she might have a point.  Mending broken fences with black duct tape and then hightlighting the repair with a sprig of neon may cross the line.

And apparently we're guessing soon-to-be-born Muliette's weight and ETA, so jump on in with a guess!

I'll bite. 6 pounds, 9 ounces at 8AM, EST. I say she's only got 7 more hours of this to go!

Chris says...7 pounds 12 ounces at 10AM. I assume he means central time.

7 lbs. 15 oz at 9:00 AM CST.

I say 8lbs 1oz at 11:30am Central time Tuesday.

Watching your updates on twitter, mules. Proud of how you are handling this frustration with humor and good stride.

Elisabeth - is the Ambien not working?

KaytieJ said...

I got side tracked by DH with last minute changes to my brochure I am making for the local National Guard...oy veh!!!

I will weigh in here (pun intended) 7 lbs 14 ounces 10 am EST. I figure Chris and I are so not OB, one of us has to be right!

KaytieJ said...

Dang...will some Twitter Savvy Club member please post updates on Daisy regarding Mulie?!!!

KaytieJ - Here's Mulie's last tweet

AP - As the owner of white vintyl fences, those are some pretty gnarly ones that need a hub in rain slickers to power wash! And duct tape? A cure all!

Ck - Mulie - That is so awesome!!!!!! Can I revise my bet :::squinting at Chris:::

ohhh boy I've got so much in here to catch up on! Busy busy weekend! After finding Duke - we went to a fair with the girls and their kids on Friday night, I kept Tay all day Sat. and Sat. night and went to the car races Sat. night with Jaye and his wife and kids and Megan and Ri and Tay - that was alot of fun but a late night. Sunday we went to Jaye's house for a bbq and then fireworks at the same fair we were at Fri night - as we were all gathering at Megan's to walk to the fireworks, the neighbors huge Italian Mastiff (can't remember exact "brand name" but such a beautiful dog) heard the firworks practice booms go off and took off, and we spent from 11 pm after firworks til almost 2 am searching neighborhood for him. Zeus is still missing... I hope that he is found like Duke was!!

This is just for Kay (LFoB) cause I like you SO much and cause anything you ask I want you to have cause you aren't feeling well! The kitten that went to be with Jesus was one of the orange and white ones. It was a little girl, and Megan's boyfriend has since used one of those nice baby gates that come in like 8 pieces and can be put up in an octagon shape outside or in the house, and comes apart, and he made a nice little enclosure for the remaining kittens... So they are safe and sound! They are all starting to use the litter box and starting to eat dry food that has had kitten formula added to soften it... and they are getting so frisky and cute!! Erin the little white/black kitten is my favorite too and is the most playful of them all! They are ALL cute though!

Well its after 2 am and I'm barely done reading from Sunday - have another whole post to read I think... But have to go to bed, we have Tay again tomorrow. Here's hoping we have a new baby (or two) in Daisy-land soon!!

twirldawg said...

Morning. My two year old realized that he could get out of his room in the mornings now that he's in a toddler bed. Oh well, so much for"sleeping in" until 8

White trash yards are not mulched - practical country.

Did Mulie have her baby - I know she's probably busy but I need to know these things?

Jill - that's the downside to a bed :(

Deb said...

Good morning ladies!

I hear chickens are very fashionable right now, not white trash!

Mulie - I hope things have progressed for you!

I'm trying to catch up..

Erin said...

Ok- since my kid graduates today I am going with 8.65 oz @ 12:25 pm Tuesday, June 1st. That was his arrival time and weight. Not on June 1st!

I love those chickens! I want some chickens. The fence looks kind of like an equestrian jump if you take away the neon.

Erin said...

<---Relieved that "my" kitten isn't Jesus kitty.

Margo said...

The doctors are wrong - Mulie's baby is already in the chute. I know this because she, Muliette, just sent me an e-mail pic from her perspective. Check out my blog :)

Good morning!

I'll weigh in with 8 lbs 2 oz and 3:45pm. :) What do I win if I win?

I have to agree... not white trash. Sorry. :D

Still on Eeq watch- nothing moving and shaking. DD and I are going to relax a bit, then I am strapping her in the stroller and walk until my water freaking breaks! :D Okay, maybe not, but I am going to go for a walk.

Erin said...

Taiya- you win a new baby! Time and date of delivery to be announced. :)

T@iy@ said...

I will surely take that prize, EL!

Angie said...

Morning all! Hahahaha Margaret! That's hilarious!

Happy Birthday Muliette! (she said hopefully)

Wearing the new green linen dress today. I did iron it this morning. It's a shirtwaist dress, and by the time I got all the way around to the other side, the first side was wrinkly. But hey, I tried.

I've got to figure out who to vote for in our state's primary election today. I know who I'm voting for in the governor's race and congressman, but smaller races need some googling.

Hope everybody has a great day!

Deb said...

We visited my in laws this weekend in NY. My girls got to collect chicken eggs this weekend - Mark's sister was out of town so they fed their chickens and collected eggs. Their favorite part was grandpa picking the chicken up by their tails so the kids could grab the eggs.

I'm not good at guessing weights, but I'll say 7lbs 8 oz if no one's guess that one yet.

Angie said...

Okay, those chickens look like they are lounging in Martha Stewart's yard, or by a fairway at Augusta National. Not even close to trashy. But thanks for playing!

Angie said...

Did you guys hear/read about the Catholic nun who was excommunicated for supporting an abortion performed to save the life of the mother? I saw it on the Today Show this morning. She was on the ethics committee at a hospital, and voted to approved the life-saving procedure of an 11 week old fetus to save the mother's life. Her bishop excommunicated her.

Contrast that with priests who molest children and are still priests. Gotta love the Catholics. ::ducking::

EVERYONE should go look at Margaret's blog and see Muliette's liveblogging down the birth canal.

If you aren't laughing at this.......there is simply no hope for you!

KaytieJ said...

SW - have you seen the Lost Collage on Margaret's blog? Priceless :-D

KaytieJ said...

Erin - Happy Graduation Day! They grow up so fast.

Deb - Welcome Back! Sounds like y'all had a great time!

Jill - I still keep mine in a side rail bed. I need my sleep :-D JUST KIDDING! A real bed is a big step in the process, sounds like he did pretty good with it.

Karen - That poor doggie. I hope they find him soon.

Taiya - Walk, walk, walk!

Elisabeth - Good morning and thanks for the link!

Robin in Montana said...

Good morning!

Erin - I love your yard! I love your red screen door. I would like to trade you houses and yards, if you don't mind.

Going back to read.

Angie said...

LOL Margaret! How long have I been on your Lost poster? I swear I looked at it once before looking for the Lost cast member who wasn't in the finale, and thought it was Mr. Echo! Surely I wasn't on it then! Funny!

Morning Robin! Did you get your peeps back safe and sound?

I'm having a hard time buckling down this morning to work. Trying again.

Robin in Montana said...

SW -- the peeps are back safe and sound. We decided to keep the horses here one more day for Katie. Which led to her feeding them 18,000 treats. Which led to them feeling it was perfectly acceptable to get up on the deck and stare in the patio door. That's white trash, right there.

Deb said...

RiM - the horses were staring in the patio door??? On the deck??

Angie said...

LOL Robin! Oh please, say you got pictures of the horses up on the deck looking in!

KaytieJ said...

LOL! Robin - always a surprise what you find on the porch when out in the country :-D

Deb said...

Rim - that's not white trash, that is just down right cute, I say. Well, as long as they didn't poop on the deck I guess. That would not be so cute.

But I could just imagine those long, horse faces staring in - that would be hilarious!

Robin in Montana said...

Yes, they were standing on my deck, peering in the patio door. This is five acres and the yard (such as it is) is not fenced, so ... they're just here for a couple of days to eat down the grass on the acreage, and I have no plants or anything out yet, but they are terrorizing the house. I have two nice patio chairs with a table and foot stools on that back deck. Metal with cushions, etc. Jerry has bit the back of one of the chairs and lifted it/pulled it off the deck. He grabbed a windchime and was tugging on that. He pulled some other folding lawn chairs down from where they were stacked out by the fire pit. He picked up the kids outside flingball/mitt thing and dropped it. He stuck his head in the back of Kelly's truck and pulled out a bucket and an empty energy drink container.

He's a brat.

Erin said...

RiM- you will have to take my bleeding blisters too!

Margo said...

SW - I made the poster for you silly, you've always been on it.

Robin in Montana said...

I don't have pics of them on the deck, but I do have a pic of them staring in the dining room window. Gomers.

Angie said...

Margaret, I'm a complete idiot. LOL

Robin, what keeps the horses on your property, if it isn't fenced in?

Erin said...

At least yours are on your feet. Mine are on my hands and fingers (hate gardening gloves)and I look like I haved a really, really bad case of ringworm!

Deb said...

SW - I think the 18,000 treats keep the horses around :D

Robin in Montana said...

SW - The five acres is totally fenced, but the yard area is not fenced seperately. But yes, even it weren't fenced, Jerry's addiction to carrots and apples and bread and bananas and grain would keep him around.

::avoids EL and her ring worm:::

Erin said...

at least I don't have leprosy :P

Deb said...

Erin - checked out your blog, love the garden! We took the strawberries you gave us to New York and snacked on them all weekend, everyone loved them - thanks!

OOOhh, I had to go to New York to actually see a Baltimore Oriole, if anyone is interested I put his pic on my blog! My MIL set out orange halves and said he's been hanging around all spring so far. He was beautiful.

Kay, how are you feeling today?

Life full of bRATS said...

Sw- doing ok, very tired right now. Also I wish they'd let me shower. i really want to shower.

pork chops? That's what I'm thinking for us.

Ok.. hmm I just read mulie blog, about her sons knee pain and once she's got a baby and a few weeks I have thoughts.

Lisa said...

"AP - OMG - I saw the tree bark guy on tv not long ago - that totally scares me!"

It makes me feel ill...it's very hard for me to look at him. I saw when they removed most of it and he's a nice looking man but then they said it's growing back. *shudders* I had to keep flipping the channels back and forth, it was so hard for me to watch.

Robin in Montana said...

AP - fish tacos. Or shrimp.

Anonymous said...

Deb - "Corinne - Erin and I are closer to you than CA, you should come here sometime! We can take you to Ocean City beaches and have a great time!"

LOL, don't tempt me, because I swear you're going to have me knocking at your door before you know it ;-D

AP - The virus that makes you look like a tree trunk scares me much more than leprosy! It's just gross and bizarre.

Lisa said...

Pork chops it is, thanks Deb! We've not had those in awhile and they do sound good now that you've mentioned them. Boy, that was easy. :-)

Angie said...

Holy crap, Al and Tipper Gore are separating! I don't know why that surprises me, but it does. I've always liked them, separately and as a couple.

Angie said...

AP, chicken stir fry! It's my recent dinner obsession.

Robin, what is with you and your fish taco obsession? It's bordering on bizarre now.

Angie said...

Damn, posted too late and lost out to Deb. :-(

OMG I saw a thing with that tree bark guy. Can you believe that it was all caused by HPV??

Lisa said...

Al and Tipper? That just shocks the hell out of me. I hope they can work things out. They always seemed like a good couple together. And if we find out Al's been cheating, I'm going to lose all faith in humanity. I like Al a lot.

Shannon said...

AP I think it is an obsession for Robin.....I really dont think they eat anything except for fish tacos. I still have never had one as the whole concept makes me nervous LOL

Deb said...

I was thinking pork chops w/ some roasted peppers & onion on the grill. Yum.

Lisa said...

All this talk about the tree bark guy makes me feel like I need a shower. Ugh.

Life full of bRATS said...

Ap- I invite you all to my hospital room for the sponge bathing, I don't like bed bathing at all. I'm just not comfortable with it

Lisa said...

Deb, I think I'll smother mine in gravy and have baked potatoes with them. Just so I'm not a total copy-cat. ;-)

Angie said...

Seriously, AP. I hope hope hope Al hasn't cheated on her. But thinking about it, doesn't that seem likely? Why else do people split up after 30+ years of marriage?

Lisa said...

SW, maybe they just grew apart. It can happen. Or maybe he's traveling too much or developed a drinking problem. I don't know. I just hope he's not cheated on her or she on him. The other stuff seems more acceptable and even fixable.

Angie said...

Fingers crossed, AP.

Corinne - do you have a zoom lens? If so, what kind?

Deb - I have a Nikon D40 and I have two different lenses : the 18-55 mm which I got with the camera and the Nikon AF-S DX 55-200mm F/4.0-5.6G.
I like them both but I haven't really spent time taking pictures lately.

Lisa said...

SW, he was a cute kid...then he grew up.

Erin, have fun at graduation and I hope the weather is perfect and it's wonderful!

Mulie, finally! Are you holding up okay?

Deb, I agree about the oil spill. They're now saying it could be August before it's stopped. My mind can't even wrap around the repercussions of that.

Lisa said...

And no pork chops tonight after all. Jake went to friends' and is eating dinner there. I dragged some liver out of the freezer and will fix that. Mmm! I'm also having a glass of wine...Mos...Moscato? Something like that. I've never had it before and if anyone wants a sweet white, this is the one to try. I'm really liking it a lot.

twirldawg said...

I love Moscato.

I do believe a nice Chianti goes better with liver though ;)

Lisa said...

Jill, lol, I'm so proud of myself for getting that reference. It's a nice wine, though. I don't know how I never found it before.

KaytieJ said...

Haven't heard of that one, AP. Will try it some time.

I was supposed to be going down to my NOLA friend's social tonight, but sprained my ankle getting hay out of the loft this morning. And so, no french pastries and sorbet tonight...yes that was my dinner plan :-D

Angie said...

LOL Jill FTW!

Angie said...

Sorry about your ankle, Kaytie. Is it bad? Are you going to need crutches?

Lisa said...

Hey, Miss Accident-prone, can't you just limp in to the social?

KaytieJ said...

LOL! Jill - gives me the shivers, but that was a good one!

KaytieJ said...

Miss Accident Prone, I am. Too stupid to even mention how it happened. It is not the worst I have had, just annoying and embarrassing. I have it taped and using an old cane. I'd go AP, but it is a 40 mile drive one way and it is my right ankle. Don't want to drive. Trust me, for French Pastries and a couple hours of hearing that NOLA accent, if I could, I would :-D

Lisa said...

Alright, I guess I believe you, Kaytie. ;-)

Anyone have any good gossip going on? I'm in a weird mood and could a fun distraction.

Angie said...

Well so far nobody's accusing anybody of an affair in the Gore separation. So he must be gay. Right?

KaytieJ said...

Can we start the gossip? vile grin

KaytieJ said...

Do you think that SW? I don't, but this is an interesting idea.

Angie said...

Which one, Kaytie. The Al gore gay one, or the oil spill response? :-)

Lisa said...

SW, he's either cheating or gay, yes. There can be no other reasons. I'm rooting for gay. I disagree about the response being different had it happened elsewhere. Bad publicity is bad publicity and expense is expense, regardless. Too many people from all over the world are watching this thing and could be affected over time.

KaytieJ said...

Al Gore is Gay? :::thud:::
I was actually referring to the oil spill being not handled right because of it being in the South.

Lisa said...

Oh, Lord, do you think Tipper believes global warming is a lie?

KaytieJ said...

Maybe Tipper felt a cold front moving in?
Or maybe Tipper caught Al listening to Misogynist Music?

Angie said...

LOL re global warming AP!

I don't think I have any *rational basis for saying that the oil spill response would be different if it were in the northeast instead of the south, but I *feel like it has been. Kind of like how during Katrina's aftermath I didn't believe for one second that if rich or middle-class white people were stranded on their roofs, it would have taken the government days to rescue them, and after Sean Penn had already got there first.

Like I said, no rational basis for the feeling this time. But it feels like that did then, to me.

Margo said...

Tipper was caught with Sarah Palin in a hotel room full of blow. Al could accept the affair and blow usage - what he couldn't get past was Tipper's acceptance of Sarah's use of years old cans of Aquanet - FLUROCARBONS!!!

KaytieJ said...

SW - As to Katrina, I do think the lack of initial response was definitely due to the reason you gave. I also think, imo, the Gov. of Louisiana did not handle it well. I think there was so much going on at once, though, that it was too big for just the State's affected to handle on their own and the Feds needed to step in much faster.

KaytieJ said...

LMAO off Margaret!

Lisa said...

"Kind of like how during Katrina's aftermath I didn't believe for one second that if rich or middle-class white people were stranded on their roofs, it would have taken the government days to rescue them, and after Sean Penn had already got there first."

Well, I'll agree about the rich, sort of. With qualifiers. But I can tell you that this is a fairly solid middle to upper middle class area on average and the response we got after the hurricanes of 2004 and Fay in 2008 was *nothing* compared to what NOLA got. We also didn't even get the media coverage they did and while we had no one stranded on their roofs, we had a hell of a mess what left people hungry, thirsty and homeless for literally months. We got jackshit for help here and it's because we *are predominantly white. At least that's the general consensus here and one I agree with. No one knew to even try to come help us because a bunch of white and Hispanic people living in their yards for weeks on and even months on end just didn't have the interest factor a lot of black kids on roofs for a few days did. Politically incorrect to say? Sure. Truth? Absolutely.

For the record, as soon as they knew they could get in, a whole caravan of good ol' boys from this area loaded up their fishing boats, canoes, airboats, food, water, clothing, and money (we all donated heavily to that) and headed for NOLA to help rescue people. We know what needs to be done around here and they were determined to give what they hoped we've get in return if we ever needed it. There were maybe 50 total going. Enough to *really help. It was local NOLA law enforcement that stopped many of them, not federal and not state enforcement. There's no excuse for that at all, but we do need to lay blame at the proper feet. In addition, I have a friend (shared by Robin) who owns a school bus and lives not far from NOLA. She volunteered prior to the storm hitting to take her bus in and get people out and to higher ground. She was told by NOLA officials it wasn't wanted.

Lisa said...

Sorry, that was a novel. It's just a touchy spot and I'm in a mood. :-/

I think the people next door are building a chicken coop.
I'm not a fan of live chickens and really hate the smell. :/

Either a chicken coop or a dog house.
We are the only people around without a dog and ours wouldn't be kept outside like the others. The people on the other side never let their dog in no matter what. Poor thing really needs to be groomed.

I stayed away ALL day so I could come back and have lots of fun comments to read. I come back, and Kaytie's practically Chris' CripTwin (his word) and Al & Tipper are splitting. (does the Internet count as community property?)

Crap!

AP......I'm sorry but all the talk of the Tree Guy (God love the poor bastard, he seems *so nice) and food at the same time was Not Pleasant. You guys are hardier stock than me.

Re the oil spill......my mom thinks it's *possible that Cheney & co manufactured this to be Obama's "Katrina". Halliburton DID make the well piece that dismally, almost unbelievably failed, yes?? So I think it could be true. Remember how a lot of GOP'ers were saying that HCR would be Obama's "Waterloo". But that didn't happen, HCR passed and the low-ish but still majority of Americans wanted it.

Cheney "promised" Obama would be a one term-er. And tons of people are seriously angry that Obama hasn't been more visible on the gulf frontline.

I'm JUST saying.....it's interesting.

If y'all never hear from me again, my mom was right.

(kinda scary: when that guy joe stack crashed his plane into the office building a few months ago, my mom called me HOURS before the news mentioned the IRS and specifically said "there are dozens of offices there but he was definitely going for the IRS".)

KaytieJ said...

Mulie - I was wondering that, but I am OB stupid. Just did not know how long they were going to continue the current treatment. Many thoughts for you!

Anonymous said...

KayJ......Chris says "if I never went anywhere 'gimpy'.....I'd never go anywhere, period!"

He says turn your broomstick upside down & make good use of it! And I am pretty sure he means "use it like a cane" rather than the dirty/mean way it sounded!

Mulie, this blows=(
I know you really wanted this time with your mom and everything.....I am really sorry it's not going like you want. This reminds me of the friends episode where Rachel just won't go into labor. I'm sure you're probably a *little too far gone for your hubs to pull a Ross and luuuuuurve you right into labor, tho=(

Don't be more miserable than you have to be, Mulez. C section is NOT quitting/taking the easy way out. As you know, there's nothing about them that's easier/better than VBAC. You could walk thru your front door or walk thru your garage but all that matters is the fact that you end up in the house, right? Get that baby however you damn well see fit. Still praying for you.

Chris :::smooches::: I gimped around on it, thinking this is nothin'. Especially with what you have to go through daily. And if I used my broomstick it would be to fly down and gimp around to serve up big ole bowls of ice cream for you and Elisabeth...you two get small spoons...I get the serving spoon and container :-D

Dick Cheney caused the oil spill - oh heavens!

Mulie - I'm so sorry you have had to go through this.

KayJ......hah....Chris DOES eat ice cream with a small spoon! Cereal & oatmeal = giant serving spoon, ice cream = small measuring teaspoon. When we first brought him home and I was "learning the ropes".....the first time he said "that's the wrong size spoon" I must have given him the worst GTH look ev-ah......he changed gears RIGHT away, "nevermind, anyspoon, anyspoonisfine!"

But all pretense of politeness left about the first time I had to clean his toe schmutz, so now he's all "uh, that's not my BLUEBERRY oatmeal spoon". Little turd.

Al Gore is gay ::gasp:: and global cooling is on the horizon. Maybe she had it with his electricity bills. I'll be checking with *my source, TMZ.com for the *real story that is sure to come out!

The oil spill - I'm sure there are lots of conspiracy theories. All I know is it going to get worse before it gets better, and this stuff never goes away unless it is physically removed from the water, marshes, sand. And it is not just on the water surface, it fills the depths of the gulf. God forbid we get a hurricane in the near future. They are going to have something like over 8,000 people in the gulf working to contain and clean up, and if a storm comes, they need to be evacuated. Let alone the storm flushing the oil around like a giant toilet into land. There are many deep gulf water dwellers (fish, corals, marine life) that will never, ever be the same again and may never recover.

I am just so sick over it. Seriously.

Al Gore isn't confirmed to be gay, is he?

I think after being married to someone named "Tipper" for about a million years, I might fly the coop, too. "Tipper...Tipper! Come look at my new PowerPoint presentation!"

I'm sick over the oil leak, too, Deb. Here's my issue, and I don't think it's very conspiracy-theory-like: If you can drill down so far into the ocean, and have the technology to do so, how can you NOT have a contingency plan if something goes wrong? It just doesn't make sense to me.

PJ said...

Mulie - I'm thinking your baby is a girl, but James Taylor is singing Little Baby James in her honor.

PJ said...

Uh, that would be Sweet Baby James.

I knew what you meant, CK :)
