Kid Slaps His Own Mother On Dr. Phil.

For Noah, because people care and understand.

I used the common search term for this video in the subject, in hopes this post gets found someday and people get a better understanding of these videos from the perspective of people who know Noah's mom, Wendy.  I hope it helps Noah someday, somehow.  I am not going to link to Wendy's blog and won't use her last name, but I won't stop anyone who does. Let's try to keep protecting Noah as our priority, though, please.  That's what I hope this post can be about.

There is a followup blurb a year later, in which Wendy tells Dr. Phil things are much better and Noah is not getting into trouble so much. You can find the video if you look, but the part about them is so short and is only Dr. Phil speaking, that I'm not sure how much weight to give it.  I mention it out of fairness, though.

I hope that those who know/knew Wendy will comment and give their opinions based not only on this video, but on what so many of us *know, based on her own words to us.  The real person with the real son.  I said in the last post that I give my word I won't tell who posted if you prefer to use a fake name, and I mean it.  I won't, ever.  Feel free to make one up and know you are safe in doing so. As you can see on the last post, the video was posted on someone else's blog and we were alerted to it...it's not about old personal issues between former blog members now.  It's about Noah and setting things straight on the internet, for him.  For his future.  So, please...join in and give your opinion based on what you know, what you remember Wendy saying and doing.  Let's help this kid clear his name.

I will start this one out in an effort to make the ANON poster on another site feel better.

The date for this video is from May of 2008 so please keep that in mind, it was 3 years ago.

In my opinion this moment began 4 years ago when Wendy's daughter died. And I am not saying this to be mean or derogatory in and way shape or form. I believe she got stuck. She got stuck in her loss and her grief.

Noah was 6 or 7 years old when that happened and he suffered the loss as well but I think that in a way his was put on the back burner. I think it just built up in him: the hurt, pain, grief, feelings of abandonment, feelings of inadequacy, so on and so forth and as a very young child the way he found he could be heard was to strike out.

Does that make him a bad kid? Not in my opinion I think it just shows the pain he was in.

Honestly do I think that made her a bad mother? I dont know that I can answer that as I have never been in her shoes. I do know that other mom's who have been there work to focus on their living children more then the ones they have lost.

I'll tell, under my own name, what I remember. I remember that O. wanted a sibling and asked Wendy for one. O. was sick at the time and Wendy was all about giving O. what she wanted, which I tend to not fault up to a degree, but bringing another human being into the world to satisfy the desire of a dying child crosses some lines for me, personally. She has said she basically tricked Noah's dad, since he certainly wasn't looking to have a child with her. She also said, at one point, she got pregnant in a Ronald McDonald house and I seem to recall Noah's dad is a doctor, although memory says he's a podiatrist, so damn, my memory may be way off on some of this. Anyway, the gist was that Noah was for O. And once O. died, Wendy seemed to me to feel pretty damn burdened with him and the feeling I always got was that she wished it had been him that died and not O. That's a harsh thing to say, I know, but it takes a sick, mean mother to feel like that, if so. I know many of us felt that from her, though, so it stands to reason Noah has felt it as well. And really, couldn't that explain his behavior on that tape? I think it could and does. How many of us, just dealing with her online, wanted to bust out with a slap? To hurt her the way she hurt some of us? I know I did and I'm about as far as you can get from someone who slaps others...but damn, I easily could have. And his dad, remember how nothing his dad ever did was right? Dad...old Fuck Face, or FF, in short. The dad who paid his child support, just not as much as she would have liked, and always made visitation. Dad, who tried to get Noah off the shitload of meds Wendy had him on and how much that pissed her off that ol' FF wanted to make sure his son really *had to be medicated. Dad, who is now trying to get custody of Noah, hot on the heels of a therapist saying he felt CPS needed to be involved in Wendy's parenting. No shit, Sherlock, you think? Noah being on meds equals Wendy getting a second disability check to live on. And she's mentioned exactly this, just in a less blunt way. Do I know Noah has issues? Sure...who wouldn't, in this situation? I would. But to hear this kid referred to as a monster, even when fault is placed with his parents (and imo, one one parent is to blame here), is something I won't stand for. This is a normal, bright, decent kid who got a shitty, shitty hand dealt in life and who copes the best he can. It is not his fault and it will never be his fault, what that video shows.

Hi everyone. I've been reading along on BWOP (and a funny read it is). Thought I would come by and say hi for old time's sake :)

AP, that video makes me feel weird every time I see it. I don't like the vibe of it, but who would? Her eyes look dead.

Good to see some new and old faces around. I'll pop back in and say hi more often.

Shannon said...

LOL well Bella the read over there is pretty darn interesting to say the least :)

Bella said...

Yeah, it's pretty much the damn nuthouse of the internet, but good for a chuckle :D

So, this Zhuzhuannannahhh or whatever lady, I assume she's a fundie Christian? I'm adding her to my reader now. Also, speaking of weird blogs, did you see that April Rose blog has new posts up? Jeebus lady, give it a rest.

Shannon said...

Oh yes she is very much so a fundie....like as pretty much extreme as you can get LOL.

And how in the hell does April Rose have new posts???

Bella said...

Who knows. It is some weird shit, though.

Shannon said...

I just read it all. Must say I love that everyone who is or has been against her for what she did is a satan worshiper.

Bella said...

We were worshiping Satan before it was cool. I don't think it's the same Beccah, unless she's hopped on some medication. It popped up in my reader a week or so ago, I must have still been subscribed.

twirldawg said...

Hey ::waves like a doofus:: it's nice to see some familiar faces.

I think Zuzu comes up often on Free Jinger. I haven't visited in a while though.

What brand of crazy is Becca selling now?

Shannon said...

LOL Hi Jill :)

Becca, or the person who is posting on there *for her, is all about God and what a wonderful better then all other Christian. Those who exposed her and still hold what she did against her are just a bunch of Satan worshipers.

Lisa said...

Hi, y'all...so sorry I posted and then disappeared for a bit. I had a little situation arise (got picked up last night for a handbag heist at the superstore *lifts eyebrow and grins at someone*) and didn't get home until late morning. Then I got stuck doing other things relating to the events of last night until a bit ago, but least I got to chat with a really cute cop for a bit!

Hi, Bella and R2...and R2, what did you delete? You may as well tell me, since I'm sure someone will have comments in Reader and will tell me anyway. :-)

Bella, can you link me to Becca, please? And I'd heard that about you, the Satan worshipping...good to know that wasn't just one of those vicious internet rumors!

Lisa said...

Well, Szuszanna (sp, argh!) deleted my comments but she left Shannon's so it wasn't about the subject matter. She must have figured out I'm a lesbian. It sucks to be gay sometimes, pardon my pun. :-D

Shannon said...

Lisa you damn dirty lesbian :) Pretty funny though because I bet that is why she deleted your comment. And you were so nice too.

Lisa said...

It has to be that. I was nice, but it wasn't an effort since I really do love her blog and think her kids are adorable. I love seeing pictures of normal, happy kids doing normal, happy things without them being photoshopped to death. She's got a lovely family and she's a good mom; I applaud her for it. I'll still visit, too...she's been fair and open about how she feels about homosexuality and I knew that. I'm not angry or anything, because she has every right to feel as she does, but just wish she'd repost what I said and call me an anonymous commenter or something, you know?

Lisa said...

"Lisa you damn dirty lesbian :)"

And I am not! I shower most every freaking day and spray things I won't mention in places I won't mention, plus exfoliate, pumice and tone, too. Hmph.

Bella said...

Hey AP! (waves)

It's littleoneapril.blogspot.com, and it's cringe-worthy. Looks like this place is full of devil-worshipers and lesbians, so I am out for a bit for some pizza :)

Bella said...

Oh, and hi Jill! :D

Lisa said...

"littleoneapril.blogspot.com"

That is bizarre. In the first post, it's acknowledged it all was fake, but in the second post, it appears to say she had a baby and it was real. Add some Satan into the mix and man...

Quick question, before we go all off topic on this post, should I start a new one so this one stays pretty much about the topic it's here for?

Bella said...

Sorry AP, didn't mean to get off topic. Definitely keep this one up, and file away April Rose for another day.

Lisa said...

Nooo, Bella, it wasn't you. I mean, I was doing it, too. Shit, you know what I mean! We can talk about anything, I was just wondering if we should keep this one apart, that's all.

Bella said...

Is Wendy lurking away somewhere, lording over a private blog still? I've been out of the loop for so long, I've lost track of who is where, who hates who, who is friends with who. Is SIP still around?

twirldawg said...

I skimmed the AR blog and just can't make sense of it. Are there two people writing it? The tone changes halfway through. I almost feel like it's satire.

And, I don't know nothing about no SIP blog.
Last I heard Wendy alienated the last of her "friends" there and the thing fell apart.

Bella said...

Hey Jill. It's just bizarre, that AR blog. I can't make sense of it.

I assumed SIP died. I just didn't have a lot of time for posting in the last few months, and dropped out. I'm sure Wendy's out there, probably reading this right now (shudder).

Bella said...

And, I will add, I think the Dr. Phil clip is such a small slice of the crazy that must go on in that house, to this day. I had one-on-one interaction with Wendy, and she was...bizarre, to say the least. Phone conversations with her RANTING about certain people on the SIP blog, her emailing me that her therapist told her she needed to talk to people, and talk now, which evolved into her calling me at inconvenient times. Granted, I was the fool that gave my number. It all got too f'n weird.

I can only hope that N gets some stability, wether by her getting some help, or his father taking custody.

And with that, I am out. Bath and Body Works has a buy any Signature Collection product, and get a free full size lotion, in a new scent, as well as a makeup bag. Woo!

Shannon said...

Oh my that had to be fun Bella dealing with all that over the phone.

And dont tell me that about B&B...that makes me want to go and I just cant dammit!!!

Anonymous said...

So, I am a reader (and occasional poster, just not under this name.) over at BWOP, mostly I just lurk. Anywho, I just went and watched all the Dr. Phil stuff, and read the story and what not, how in the world does she still have that poor boy? And Why did Dr. Phil just assume he was lying, because the mom said he was a bad child? Ugh! I wish I could give that boy a big hug and let him know he is a great child.

Lisa said...

I dealt with Wendy a few times on the phone, too...it was interesting. Hey, Bella, what did you get at BBW?

Welcome to Daisy, Mama P, and thanks for chiming in. It's a bit slow here, but nice and I appreciate you adding your take on this video. I was never a fan of Dr. Phil, but far less so after this...they exploited that boy, both Dr, Phil and Wendy. It's inexcusable for adults to ever do that to a child.

Bella said...

I got some coconut pineapple lotion, and a couple of wallflower plug-ins in fall scents. I love those things! The house smells delicious.

Reading over at BWOP I see some others have had run-in's with Wendy over the years. She really made the rounds, huh? I think Dr. Phil heard W's story, and all he saw was ratings. I really think he doesn't care about any of his guests, he just used them to make his money.

It's Robin Again said...

I'm feeling a little sad, because even in the good days, Wendy never called *me on the phone! Although, it is true that I never offered to send her any sage, either...

Shannon said...

LOL well she never called me either....I think I am glad for it. Dont be sad come over here and I will make you see the light :)

Bella said...

You guys weren't missing anything, lol! And I forgot about the sage! (facepalm)

Shannon said...

Hey sage is important Bella...very very important!!!

It's Robin Again said...

How about Green Grace and what an ungrateful bitch she was about a (albeit ugly) well-intentioned gift?

Shannon said...

OMG totally forgot about Green Grace.

Lisa said...

I forgot all about the sage. Poor Rhys, I always felt so horrible for her when Wendy would bring it up and try to make her look like shit over not sending the sage. FFS, order yourself some online, if you want it that badly!

Green Grace was one of the best Wendy-moments *ever. I wonder if she's still being mailed around? And if anyone doesn't know the Green Grace story, speak up and somneone'll can fill you in.

zookeeper said...

green grace *ears perk up* THAT was absolutely awful behavior on Wendy's part. Who knows what was behind green grace - maybe the participants five year old made it and thought it would be a heartfelt gift in a secret santa thingy. Wendy's uproar over the fact that it was supposed to be fully TWENTY DOLLARS WORTH OF SWAG made me sick. I'll just leave my thoughts at that before I run off at the mouth even further.

Bella said...

I liked Rhys. I still do. She's a different sort of person, and the all lower case typing drove me nuts, but I think she is a good person. The vitriol that spewed from Won's mouth about her, though, was something else. I think she was insanely jealous that Rhys got attention because of her daughter, which shows how unwell Won was/is.

Green Gracie, oh my God. I just got a huge belly laugh out of that. How rotten of a person do you have to be to make fun of a cheap Secret Santa exchange gift! She acted like someone was going to pull a BMW into her driveway, and instead she got a handmade craft. Hahahahaha!

Lisa said...

What killed me about Green Gacie (and it *was Gracie, wasn't it?) was that the person so obviously tried to make it look like Olivia to please Wendy. So, fine, you don't like your Secret Santa gift? Suck it up. Don't make fun of it on your blog so that the sender sees it and don't get the person who arranged the exchange to contact the sender and basically say she needs to send something better. Jeeez. Nothing like letting themeaning of the season ring true in your heart, is there? Although, I can talk since I had the best Secret Santa *ever in Trudy. *nods*

Bella said...

Won was *my Secret Santa, and she got me a very nice bird tealight holder set and an ornament. Both very nice gifts, I must say.

Yep, it was Green Gracie. Ugh.

Was not in on OHIH. Seeing the video made me nauseated. Reading about the complete lack of grace at receiving a homemade gift - well, that is one mean individual.

Good to see ya Daisies!

AP--I wasn't ashamed of what I posted, and that's not why I deleted it. I just didn't want to open myself up to any lingering animosity. So I just deleted it. It was a completely inconsequential comment to begin with.

I had a number of phone conversations with Wendy, and I tried, really tried, to be a supportive friend.

I also spoke a number of times on the phone with Rhys, and my care for her as a friend and as a person outweighed my attempts to be a friend to Wendy. When Wendy posted a comment on Lia's CB page that basically said Rhys should quit her bitchin' because at least HER daughter was still alive, I called Wendy on it--on SIP. She said some deliberately nasty things in response to my calling her out, I called her a fucking bitch, and I was *poofed* in about 3 seconds. I think she had her itchy finger on the poof button--and I find it all very amusing. She was such an inconsistent and absolutely controlling bitch on that site--and the rules changed with her moods.

Lessons learned. :)

I'm a happy person, and I'm glad to be done with all that. And I deleted my earlier comment for much the same reason--there was a lot of negativity between me and this place, and even though I feel I tried to understand it and see if we could get past it, I felt it failed badly, and I just didn't want to pick that particular scab.

But since you asked, I felt it reasonable to respond.

I wish it were different. Lots of time has passed, and it would be nice if we could focus on the fresh water flowing under the bridge.

It's Robin Again said...

R2 - I know you don't need my approval, but that was a good thing you did for Rhys. And you hit the nail on the head about Wendy needing to be controlling and how inconsistent she was. Nut. Job.

It's Robin Again said...

I need to change my name. That was a joke leftover from a couple of people with a screw loose who said I was physically dangerous. @@ Will do that right now.

Shannon said...

R2 I could just about hug you right now. Seriously I wanted to tear Wendy to shreds when I read what she said that day on Lia's CB page. I wish that she would take her own advice and see that her son is still alive and take joy in that.

I will admit that for a while I was frustrated with Rhys for focusing so much on the things that were wrong with Lia I do though think that was more her way of trying to get her frustration about not knowing what was going on with her.

There have been a lot of things done and said among a lot of people and amazingly almost all of it because of who was being listened to. None of us are those people we really arent. Where does everything go from here? Guess we shall see.

It's Robin Again said...

Okay, I changed it.

Shannon said...

ROFLMAO Robin you are too damn cute

Robin said...

Thanks Robin and Shannon.

"I wish it were different. Lots of time has passed, and it would be nice if we could focus on the fresh water flowing under the bridge."

Yeah, me, too and I'll start, even. I'm sorry I called you a butt plug. Really, I am. While I embrace my 12 year old self and don't want her gone, sometimes I do need to apologize for her and this is one of those times, especially since I don't even remember what I was mad about. I hope you'll drop by more often...we just had a mini, everyone getting along. You were part of that history, too, so yeah...look. Hell just froze over. ;-)

Robin said...

Thanks, Lisa.

To be honest, I don't remember why you called me a butt plug, either.

I will admit, it stung.

But...it's water under the bridge.

I suppose there are worse things I could have been, metaphorically, right?

There was a lot of animosity and rumor and deliberate meanness back at the end of OHIH.

I, too, want to apologize for my part in any of that.

Bella, I owe you a specific apology.

To everyone else, I offer a blanket apology, but it's no less sincere being non-specific.

Robin said...

Robin--I have the coolest fish EVER now! Ok, tHAT SOUNDED BRAGGY--but it's TRUE!!

I have a large Senegal Bichir (pronounced "biker") these guys:

Three GINORMOUS Featherfin Catfish, these guys:

And all the fish I had since the days of OHIH, minus my two big Angelfish...the chemistry got out of whack when I was out of town for a few days, and both of them died. :(

I'm still loving my yard, but hating my neighborhood. The economy and the drop in the housing market has had some unpleasant side-effects in my 'hood, but...I still enjoy my yard.

Lisa said...

"I suppose there are worse things I could have been, metaphorically, right?"

I suppose but still, not my finer moment and I *am sorry.

A blanket apology to all is good...I'd like to sincerely offer the same, if you don't mind me stealing your idea? I really do still miss the whole big batch of us hanging out and carrying on. It would be nice if we could all do that again, differences and all; I hate that it ended the way it did.

Hope it updated...

twirldawg said...

It updated.

Ironic about the SIP moniker huh?

Robin said...

Jill--terribly so.

It makes me sad. And especially for Noah.

AP--I didn't realize you were still at SIP when the R2 v. Wendy thing went down. At that point, I thought it had gotten down to about 7-8 people. She'd run just about everyone else off by that time.

Rhys left on her own accord I believe, the same time I was excommunicated.

Wendy always justified the dwindling numbers by saying she'd rather have a small but cohesive group. Wonder how all that worked out for her?

I was ready to chew nails and spit metal when she excommunicated you, Jill.

Well truthfully, I was probably often ready to bang the cage walls in SIP, because the place was just a disaster. It was a Wendy love-fest, and if anyone ever posted anything the least bit personal and maybe needing some advice or encouragement, W would completely ignore whatever was posted and come up with some drama story of her own. She became increasingly irritated with me because I refused to say anything supportive about the her never-ending drama, and in fact, was often a bit critical.

I may not have 20-20 vision, but I'm not blind, either.

twirldawg said...

W was not very good about the whole conversation thing.

I quit because I just couldn't deal with her any more, I'm sure she had just glowing things to say about me.

She had a painful childhood that turned into a painful adulthood and instead of trying to change her life she just plays the victim. It's unfortunate what she's been through, but the only person who can change her life is her and she clearly doesn't want to change. I felt like she was becoming one of those vampire friends.

Robin said...

Jill--as I recall, she didn't say nasty things about you--just that she couldn't "trust" you anymore because you seemed so "cozy" with the folks over here at Daisy.

I think what W and I had in common was the childhood abuse--and I only mention this because it's pertinent to the conversation, NOT because I want to discuss any of it. AT ALL. I feel I made a fool of myself revealing what I did about my past on OHIH, and I can't do anything about that, except never to do it again except in "safe" and private company. It's foolish to open yourself up like that on the Internet. I know that NOW.

However, the difference between W and I in all that is that what didn't destroy me made me stronger, and in her case, it gave her an excuse to be a lifetime victim. HUGE difference.

I'm off to watch True Blood--just my favorite show ever.

I hope I haven't said too much and been too critical.

It feels good to discuss the past in some ways, but I want to leave it there. Focusing on it isn't productive or particularly healthy. But remembering it is always wise.

Shannon said...

R2 I will tell you that I dont think that you have spoken out of turn or overly critical. Honestly I think it is part of the healing process. I know that even when SIP started we had to get out hurt at what had transpired out...It certainly wasnt always positive or even all that healthy but I think it had to be done.

Bella said...

It's good to get all the feelings out, that way we can all move forward, together.

Robin, come back soon and chat :) I, for one, am wondering if you are still riding the bus! :D

I have a doctor's office story to share, and then I am out. Last week, I was talking to a patient and referring them to a specialist. I was getting ready to give them the name and number of the doctor, and the dude blurted out, "Wait a minute! I'm on the pot, and I need to wipe my butt, then get a pen!" Guy was taking a shit while I was having a serious conversation with him! Kill me now.

Hope everyone has a great night.

I just finished reading "The Help" today. Don't know if it's been discussed here before, but I LOVED the novel. I couldn't stop reading it after I got about 5 chapters in. It was such an amazing slice of Southern life in the early 1960s. I can't wait to see the movie. I'm dragging my love to see it with me next weekend.

He watched me completely sucked into the novel most of this weekend. He asked me today (after I informed him we WOULD be going to see the movie next weekend when he's back in town--he's been working out-of-state since late January) what the story was about. I gave him this horribly inadequate synopsis of the novel--but mostly, I didn't want to spoil the movie for him. I think he'll love the movie.

We do live in the "South," after all.

Has anyone else seen the movie/read the book?

I highly recommend reading the book. I've heard the movie really sticks to the story, and I am really looking forward to the movie, but I can't even imagine the movie could touch the deliciousness of reading the book.

I have not read the book The Help, but I have heard nothing but rave (heh, not like the raving I just posted about above) reviews. I will have to check it out.

Karen said...

I've also heard that The Help is good, and plan to get it at some point soon!

Robin, that was awesome!! and very fitting!

Mornin' Daisies -
Read The Help awhile back and it is very good. Plan to see the movie at some point.
Robin - thank you for that tutorial on the definition. My favorite is Loony. Has a nice roll to it.

Good morning, everyone! Since we are talking about books, does anyone have an e-reader? If so, what do you like about it/what do you hate about it? Nook or Kindle?

I like Touched. It has the same Southern feel like "bless her heart". :D

Lisa said...

Ohh, I've been wanting to read The Help and see the movie, too...glad to know the book is good. The movie looks wonderful!

"Notes: inane means silly, lacking significance or insubstantial; insane means mentally deranged, mad or very foolish"

It's amazing the difference one little "s" makes, isn't it? Such a fine line...

I was just thinking this morning that (run-on sentence alert!) if a group of people on not one blog, but two, who had a history of being very ugly to one another, doing mean things and that ugliness had carried on for a long time, managed to not only reunite (at least in part), but make sincere apologies all over a mutual disgust and dislike of me...well...I *think I'd set back and really take a harsh look at myself, you know? Because that's pretty damn sad and scary, thinking of it like that. :-/

Erin said...

Not only that Lisa, but those same people were driven from those blogs *because of ME (not *me. I am inane in this bloggy world. Unlike someone else who possesses that 'S')

The Help was a great book.

Bella I have a nook and I love it. Didn't want pne, but I got it when I had surgery thinking it would be easier thatn a bunch of books. I feel guilty even remembering I didn't want it!

R2- omg. My hummingbird vine is crazy!! Seriously crazy and awesome. Thank you again for the seeds. Isn't it funny, but that was 2 years ago!

It's Robin Again said...

I love the cichlids, btw!

Hummingbird vine? Pics?

Robin said...

Hi, Erin! It's hard to believe it's been two years, isn't it?

I'm glad you're enjoying your Hummingbird Vine. I love mine! But you do have to keep it in check--since it re-seeds itself so prolifically, it can get out of control! Sometimes it helps to yank some of them when they come up--that was you won''t have as many seeds. I've just let mine have free will on my back fence--and it really does attract hummingbirds.

RiM--not sure where my pictures of the vine in my yard are, but here's a link:

http://summerhillseeds.com/cypress-vine-red-p-176.html

It's also called Cypress Vine, and it comes with red, pink, and white flowers. Mine (and Erin's--LOL) are red like in the picture at that link.

Lisa said...

I love that vine and it says it's heat and humidity tolerant, as well. I've got miles of ugly chain link fence I'd love to cover...could I maybe, pretty please, get someone to send me some seeds sometime? Just if it's convenient? I've got a load of veggie and herb seeds from this spring I won't use since we can't keep them alive here that I'd be willing to send in return. Most of the packs have been opened but there are still lots of seeds left. They've been stored in my freezer in a freezer bag, so they'll be fine. :-)

Robin said...

I would be happy to send you some, AP.

I think it will be a bit later this summer before it goes to seed, but I should have plenty.

Robin said...

Adding...I shared some with my MIL in S. Florida, and hers are growing well there.

Lisa said...

R2, really? Thank you, I'd love it and I won't lie...coming from you, it'll give me an extra chuckle every time I see them growing! If your MIL can grow them there, they'll definitely be fine here. When you want my address, just email me at anemonepie at yahoo and if you want the seeds I have and feel okay with me having your mailing info, I'd be happy to send them to you. :-)

Robin said...

Do you have any spaghetti squash seeds?

I would really like to try my hand at spaghetti squash. It's so good, but usually really expensive here (relatively speaking).

Of course, if you don't, I'll buy one and dry out the seeds for next year's growing season...win/win! :)

Trudy said...

I'm reading the Help now. Don't buy it AP I'll send you mine when my daughter is done with it. I'm not a book saver. I would rather pass them on and save someone else money.

twirldawg said...

Robin those vines are pretty!

Bella I have a Kindle and love it.

Bella said...

Ok, so I have to read The Help, it seems. Now to just decide on Kindle or Nook. I like the Nook color, but someone told me Barnes and Noble is going to go under. I don't know.

Robin, I don't have any spaghetti squash seeds, but I did grow some last year. Be sure that you have a large area to grow it in, because it spreads everywhere and chokes out your other veggies. I learned that the hard way :(

Robin said...

Thanks, Bella! I do have a large garden spot. A couple of years ago I grew bird's nest gourds, and I'm guessing the SS will be very similar in how they spread. They should be about the same size as those gourds, too.

B&N storefronts are closing, but they will still have an online presence, so it should be safe to buy a Nook, I would think?

I've resisted buying an e-reader, mostly because I spend all day reading a computer screen. For "fun," I still enjoy holding/reading a real book. Plus, I'm used to buying just about whatever I want to read(unless it's a new release I MUST have) for $.25 each at yard sales.

I'm a book junkie.

Bella said...

I love real books, too, but I have so, so many...I think I have a hoarding problem. I'm hoping an e-reader will curb my little issue :)

Are you growing anything good this year, Robin? My garden is failing miserably this year, except for the green peppers. The tomatoes have some sort of rot, maybe the soil pH is off. Ugh.

Robin said...

My veggie garden was a monumental flop this year. It was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too hot for waaaaaaaaaaaay too many days.

I did get lots of good lettuce, and some green beans and tomatoes before everything melted.

And I have tons of yummy herbs.

It's just as well, really. With my husband working out-of-state all week, I almost never cook anyway. But I miss sharing my veggies.

I hope next year will be much better.

Erin said...

I figured out about the prolific self seeding they do!
Lisa- you will love them. Even in last years drought and record heat, as well as this years record heat they are going crazy. They would *love a chain link fence.

Erin said...

I think many gardens were flops this year. With the past two years of blazing heat and little rain, I am thinking of relocating mine to a bit more of a shaded spot.

KaytieJ said...

We've had the opposite problem here, Erin - long season of rain and short season of sun. Lots of rot and rust spots. Different weather but same result - flop gardens!

Deb said...

::waving to all the familiar faces::

Bella - Mark has a Kindle and loves it, takes it everywhere. Easy to use, and I think the newer ones even have a light. Even my girls use it.

My tomatoes were an apocalyptic failure this year, not one tomato. Well, except the green ones the squirrels chipmunks ran off with. LIttle bastards. I had great success with cucumbers and string beans and snap peas though.

Lisa said...

Trudy, I'd love it if you sent that book and I will pass it on to someone else as soon as I'm done! It's on hold with many in line at our library. Thank you so much!

Robin, I'm sorry, no spaghetti squash seeds but Walmart still has seeds. Want me to see if they have any?

I'm sorry everyone is having such gardening issues, but it makes me feel better to know it's not just me.

Robin said...

Oh no, Lisa--that's OK! Like I said, I really enjoy SS, so I'll buy one to cook here at home and dry the seeds.

Thanks anyway!

Deb said...

"I'm sorry everyone is having such gardening issues, but it makes me feel better to know it's not just me."

Me too, Lisa!

Lisa said...

So, um, who is going to let Rhys know there's there's a peacefest going on over here? Someone? Anyone? Because, truth be told, I probably owe her an apology, too. I think I recall snarking about a dog once or something...and anyway, I sorta *shuffles feet* miss her.

Bella said...

Garden failures unite!

I'm having a whomping headache over here, the dog stepped in his own poop and now needs a bath, and I haven't even *thought of making anything for dinner. It's only Tuesday! Ugh!

Lisa, I could send Rhys a message on FB if you want.

<~~~~ Garden Failure majorly. I have not only a garden, I have shrubbery, flower beds, rose bushes, apple and pear trees. My grandfather planted tons of things all around the house (we are renting from him)

anywho.... it's all dead. I apparently killed it all! I keep asking my inlaws for help, but to no avail!

I've heard a lot about the help, I really want to read it now!

Lisa said...

Mama P, they probably know it's useless but like letting you think it's your fault! Actually, if you killed whole trees, it might really be your fault, lol.

Bella, could you, please, with Rhys? And thanks. :-)

Lisa said...

Hey, Mama P, were you posting as Joni... elsewhere?

At my house garden = farmers market. Works out well. My boyfriend just came home from work and told me he thinks he broke his big toe. He took off his sock and I about shit myself. His big toe is black I made him go to after hours clinic. I have never seen anything like it. Having just broken a toe myself and facing surgery on it now I'm worried for him I think he crushed it. We all know how big of babies men are anyway.

Bella said...

Yeah, Trudy, I snapped my toe over the 4th of July weekend, and it was UGLY! Luckily, I buddy-taped it right away so it set okay, but man did that hurt for a good couple of weeks. Are you having to get your toe pinned?

I wish we had a good farmer's market here. You would think living in the Midwest would give us a couple good ones within driving distance, but nope. The best ones I have ever been to was when I was living out east.

Trudy said...

Bella- I broke mine in May and as of Aug.3rd. still no healing and displaced so the doc. is giving me another month with a ton of vitamins to try and then we will do another x-ray.

Not only do we have great farmers markets we have farmers set up on every corner so I can run to one of them right before dinner. Tonight fresh off the field sweet corn. =)

Hello Tee :) it is being very friendly around these parts.

Hi Trudy

Tee said...

Hey Shannon! It does seem very friendly and civilized, which is why I agreed to come out and play! How are you doing?

twirldawg said...

Hey, it's a regular party in here.

So I didn't even bother to try a garden this year. We moved in July and I can't keep a plant alive to save my life. Luckily we have a small farmers market twice a week nearby.

Tee said...

Hey Jill!

Muliebrity said...

I was just coming by to see if you saw the post from out favorite fundi mommy blogger. Turns out you have!

Shannon said...

I am good Tee. Been doing daycare for my friend's kids since October....but I have an interview tomorrow for a 'real' job LOL

Erin said...

This year I did plant a few seed packs of "cutting flowers". Really. That is what the package said. They have done great, and make me feel like less of a garden failure ;)

Bella said...

Erin, are cutting flowers supposed to be ones you cut and put in a vase?

Tee said...

Congratulations, Shannon! I'll be praying that it goes well! Will you come back and update us as to how it goes?

Shannon said...

Thank you Tee. It has been a road I tell ya. Oregon has taken FOREVER to recover especially our area because of Monaco and Country Coach going out of business. And I will definitely update :)

Tee said...

I look forward to hearing about it! Good luck!

zookeeper said...

Hi Tee! how are you doing?

Tee said...

Zookeeper, long time no talk! I'm so glad to see you here! I'm hanging in okay, how are you doing?

KaytieJ said...

Shannon - Good luck for tomorrow and let us know how it goes. You are right, Oregon and your area have been hit hard.

zookeeper said...

I'm doing well Tee! Life seems to have more downs than ups sometimes, but at the end of the day I have much to be thankful for. How are your beautiful little nieces?

KaytieJ said...

Speaking of Dr. Phil...looks like it's George and Cindy's turn to air an interview.

Tee said...

Zookeeper, they are doing just fine! Believe it or not, our Vivi (Baby Vee) is almost two years old now! That's her in my profile picture. The others are now 10, 9, 7 and 5. We've moved back to MS and are now only 12 miles away from them, which you know I just adore!

Lisa said...

Hi, Tee and Mulie! Lol, this place has turned from ugly to boring to a gardener's corner. ;-)

Kaytie, I had no seen that about George and Cindy. I'll watch it even though I can't stand Dr. Phil. It might get good!

Erin said...

Bella- Yes they are. I have no idea what some of them are, but I have been cutting them, and they are very purty!

Good luck Shannon!!

Shannon said...

I was the first person they interviewed for the position, they are hoping to have made a decision by Friday so we shall see how goes it :)

Nic said...

Hello, hello, hello. Long time no talk too.

Shannon said...

HI NIC!!!

I havent seen you forever around these parts

Bella said...

Good afternoon, all! How's it going?

Completely OT: Has anyone ever rented a cabin in the Smoky Mountains? Like near Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge? We want to next spring, but there are like a million and one choices.

Bella said...

Shannon, fingers crossed for you!

twirldawg said...

Shannon hope you get the job!

So. . .can we get a new post. I'm tired of looking at Wendy's face. :D

Lisa said...

Nic! Ahhh, it's nice to see you. How is everyone? Lol, you and I sort of have a speeeeecial Wendy moment between us, don't we? And I'm still sorry about that. ;-)

Shannon, good luck. If you get it, someone on BWOP will be glad you don't have to be on foodstamps anymore. Not that you are, but we won't let a little fact stop us, will we?

Jill, will do, and good point. Give me a few minutes to get creative and I'll post when the new one is up. Let's start the reunion fresh!

Oopsie Daisy said...

***** Okay, new post is up. Jill, I'm sorry, I just realized one of the birds looks a little like her. :-X *****

Do you guy's personally Know Wendy and Noah??

Anonymous said...

the kid is a sociopath listening to his emotionless responses lack of compassion habitual lying I wouldnt be surprised to see the kid in the news for murder in the future get real people.

Zaptail said...

I want to get in touch with Noah.. I want to know if he is doing alright. I feel very sorry for this kid and he is very smart for his age. He has a good heart.

Anonymous said...

How is this child doing today, I just happened to be watching some Dr.Phil episodes on youtube and then I ran across this, I don't usually post anything on the computer, but after watching this little boy on the clip before I read any of these comments I had a feeling that this child was very bothered and I really felt that the mother was so hard on him, I know nothing more than I felt so sorry for him and not her, and not judging her, because I know she lost another child, but he looked so very deeply hurt on the video.....

Anonymous said...

First of all the kid was a brat. Is he now? Who knows but at that age kids can be very bratty. He did all the things he yelled at his mom for doing such as cutting her off. He refused to answer simple questions. He was the one who was not genuinely sorry. But at that age it happens. You guys are gross befriending someone you see on tv just enough to talk to her cause you were most likely curious about what really happened beyond the tv show then to talk about her on this blog. You say you want to help the kid clear his name ..truth is everyone knows he's jus a kid and he'll either grow out of it or he'll proally still live off of mom and dad and bitch and whine when they tell him to get a job. Either way common sense says/hopes he grew out of it. But to talk about wendy in that manner is disgusting cause adults especially women do not get second chances from other women. Proven when you typical house wives talked cro about her online after you disgustingly got her number out of curiosity

Anonymous said...

Does wendy have a blog? If so if love to read it

Dr. Biji Thomas George said...

Hi, Thanks for posting this.
From the videos posted online, it was clear that Noah was damaged badly by his mom, Wendy.
Probably unintentionally?
I hope to God, he doesn't grow up damaged.
