It's Sunday morning and we have another buffet in our futures...

We *do need to supply some of these ladies with our spare pantyhose and half slips in exchange for our Fong Wong Gai this time, though.

For the record, I actually *love this video and you're welcome for having this song stuck in your heads all day. ;-)

I am angry about it. I am angry that they are being so us vs them mentality. Some of the big issues that they are allowing to cause this stalemate are just so stupid to me.

Honestly how is it something that can cause a shut down of the govt if an organization that does so much good is part of the problem because they also allow a woman her right to choose?

Honestly how is it that they can be cutting things while we are still the police force of the entire world? How about bringing our men and women stationed in foreign countries back home and closed the bases?

How about we stop allowing multi billion dollar corporations to NOT pay their fair share of the tax burden because they have their money invested in off shore banks? You are here? You claim to be an American Corporation? You use our resources, land, pollute our soil, take advantage of our tax breaks while paying nothing....fine here is your bill pay it on your way out.

Shannon, you make some good points and some I disagree with, even though I think they are good. Personally, I'm all for cutting funding to Planned Parenthood right now...key words "right now". Compared to other things, it's not *as necessary. I have no issues with them providing abortions and I also don't claim them to be totally female-centric, since I understand they also do low cost vasectomies and such. But, in the end, despite other healthcare service they offer, we have to take them at their name...Planned Parenthood...and assume that's their focus- helping people plan when and if to be parents. Right now, it's not a priority. At some point, people need to own and control their own actions and if being a parent isn't in your cards right now, either buy your own birth control or stop having vaginal intercourse. It's not difficult to figure out. Do they provide other services? Sure....and many other agencies and organizations provide the same ones. This whole Democratic outcry that "Republicans are killing women" by arguing this funding sooo disgusted me. I hate, hate, hate that emotional blackmailing shit from *either side. It lacks logic. And Harry Reid basically saying if PP wasn't funded, his wife and daughters/granddaughters would lack medical care...really? The Reid women obtain their healthcare from PP? I would bet not. A woman can choose whether PP is shut down or not...they are not the only abortion providers, nor are they the only women's reproductive health care provider that operates free or on a sliding scale. Are they a good organization? Imo, yes. No doubt. Are they *necessary? No.

Well, I'm with you on this one, and firmly so. How is a nation which can't take care of their own, which runs at a deficit, which owes many other countries, considered any type of "power"? I don't get it. Let's take my street...if I could not take care of my own kid, house and cats without borrowing money from my neighbors, would they consider me powerful? Nah, not at all. If I owed Kevin down the street tons of money while still spending money hand over fist to fight Mike, Joe and Shirley across the street, would this be smart on my part? Not hardly. Would Kevin be justified at being pissed at me? Yes. If I spent all the money I had in my account and then some, would wait until the last minute to figure out how to fund my deficit or would the bank be all over my ass about my *overdrafts and even prosecute me if I continued spending? Now, what if I just blatantly gave money to my friends while I still owed a shitload to Kevin? Would Kevin be justified in kicking my ass and taking my house and car from me, by force if necessary? I think so. So, beware of China. They'd be justified.

Blah, I'm so tired of hearing about all of this. I've been following along on Twitter and people are just being such assholes on both sides. I'm really disgusted by it all.

Lisa with the whole PP thing at this point in time I think my biggest disgust with it all is that, while I know it is media hype, is that something like that can cause such a standstill in the govt.

Jill I have to say I freaking hate it when people have to be assholes on one side or the other...this is not something that should be about sides. This isnt and should not be an issue of D v R. We are all Americans. This effects (affects?) everyone in our country and the finger pointing is absolutely counter productive.

Lisa the fact that we have troops stationed in how many countries in the world has bothered me for a very long time. How many countries have troops stationed here and established bases? I will say right now it is nothing against our service men and women as they are doing their job, but what is it doing to our nation financially to have over 350,000 troops and their families stationed in over 150 different countries? (from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_military_deployments).

Our nation is financially bankrupt and has been for a very long time. We owe trillions of dollars to other countries. Hell when Bush Jr did that whole stimulus thing back in 2007? that was completely funded by Chinese money.

Personally I would LOVE to get my little number crunching mind ahold of the US budget...I dont even need the secret stuff...and just have at it. I am sure that as a penny pincher I could save our country billions LOL

Jill, some are being assholes, yes. But I still find it fascinating, once you remove the extremist, asshole factor. I'm finding that I side on many things with the true Tea Partiers, as the true, normal ones don't care much about what anyone does, but for fiscal issues. Sadly, the nuts have taken over in that arena, I'm afraid. And the more female they are, the nuttier they tend to be.

"I will say right now it is nothing against our service men and women as they are doing their job"

Shannon, I have a problem with those who who have enlisted since the beginning of the war in Iraq. That was/is so obviously a bad and very wrong situation and it's been obviously so since the beginning that to do so, imo, to sign up knowing you may well be sent to kill innocent people for no reason, is nothing short of agreeing to become a paid assassin. And sorry, I've got no respect for that.

Soooo, what are everyone's thoughts on Donald Trump? What do you think of the whole Obama birth certificate ting he's going on about?

Shannon said...

Now as for him running for President I would be interested in seeing what his platform would be. He could be very good for this country in a financial aspect but I am not sure what he would be like in regards to other matters....but then again how much different would it be then when we had an "actor" for President?

As for the whole birth certificate thing I am so profoundly offended by the whole thing because it wouldnt matter one little bit if Obama was white or if his name was John.

Shannon said...

Oh and I do have an issue with those who enlisted after 9-11 as well in many respects because there was such an influx of young people...and even some inactive members who were so gung ho for revenge that I think they lost focus and that is why we see things like the sport hunting of civilians.

I rather have Planned Parenthood give out birth control then the stupid ho's going out, getting knocked up, and breeding little thugs and thugettes. Abortions are different, there is absolutely no federal funding there. You gotta pay. But this whole thing is assinine. Good lord, stop being little babies and just agree. Not agreeing just because you are kicking your feet in the sand is stupid. I am so damn sick of this division. Of course I know they will always have sides, but this is getting out of control. And Obama is the biggest freaking pussy. Grow some balls Mr. President!

Shannon said...

Amen Tammi.

Seriously if they want to fight about something can they at least make it something important that doesnt involve shutting down the government and putting thousands and thousands of innocent people out of work?

Oooh, Tina has bullieswithoutpity.blogspot.com back up and open! I'm so darn excited...now I can read more about Shannon and learn more about the doings at MWOP I might never have known. I commented, too, and even hugged her, I was so excited. I hope she lets it through.

Probably not, I can't argue this, and I've long been a defender of the whole birth certificate deal but I must admit that lately? I'm questioning it. Why not just show it? Show it, make the naysayers look like fools and move on. The fact is, there *are differences in Certificates of Life Birth and Birth Certificates...BCs contain far more info. I actually have both for myself and for Jake and I can guarantee you we'd both be willing to show either in this situation. Why would someone *not be willing to? That is bothering me now, I must admit.

"I rather have Planned Parenthood give out birth control then the stupid ho's going out, getting knocked up, and breeding little thugs and thugettes."

And see, I don't give a shit if they do, but I don't want to pay for them and I want the right to shoot them if they threaten me.

Shannon said...

Lisa I am glad you get to read up about my doings and past LOL....just remember if you want to know the truth just ask. Hell after all I never slammed or went off about Izzy and the DV charges, even though that is what Tina likes to say. I actually was a voice of dissension on OHIH about that one because I still believe he never did anything to her either time she just knew she could control him by getting him in trouble.

And then again if you want to know the truth about me or my husband its on my blog LMAO

Just so you know though I love you anyway :) even if you are the #1 fan of batshit crazy needs to get laid bully queen herself.

I rather pay for some pills now, then pay for everything that goes along with the little thug or thugette later in life.

Pills are small compared to 18 years of welfare, then more welfare, then probably their stint in jail....it goes on and on...

And wow just read this article about how a woman was just awarded $145,000 as a settlement because she was fired from her job and said it violated her civil rights.

I gotta get some feedback on this one LOL

Nitty Gritty:

Woman works at the County Clerk's office.

Woman refuses to register domestic partnerships because of her religious beliefs.

Woman gets fired because of refusing to do that part of her job, that she is being paid to do.

Woman files lawsuit claiming her civil rights were violated.

After a year and a half since filing the lawsuit the County offers her the settlement. $25k for lost wages and $70k for the "alleged violation of civil rights".

Now I am sorry but I call BS big time because she refused to do her job. Be it against her religious beliefs or not it was a part of her job and I think that it is pretty much agreed that when someone refuses to do what they are paid to do they will be fired.

Tammi said...

Oh geez...I mean, really????????

Lisa said...

I would think the very act of working at the County Clerk's office causes a whole lot of people to violate their religious beliefs, be it in handling divorce papers, paternity testing, bankruptcy/foreclosure stuff or whatever else have you. If you can't do the job, that's fine but it's on you. And shame on the county for settling...I get *why, it was probably cheaper than ongoing legal bills but I hope they made that clear, if so. God, I'm so sick of people feeling so damn entitled.

Lisa said...

"I rather pay for some pills now, then pay for everything that goes along with the little thug or thugette later in life."

But isn't that, in essence, financial blackmail?

Shannon said...

Lisa that is the same as I was thinking as far as going against religious beliefs. Seriously I think when you work for a govt agency like that you have to expect that you will be doing such things. I am disappointed that they settled but in the end basically what it came down to is a 'no fault' decision and so there was no blame put anywhere but honestly she deserved nothing she didnt do her job she got fired.

I have no words for that woman. That is unbelievable.

In other news, my husband is coming home today! I also *think (and hoping) that the worst of my pain from my treatment is over. It's been a really rough week, but it's amazing how really beautiful weather can be the perfect distraction.

Shannon said...

Nice on both counts mulie...I am sure that feeling better with him coming home and with amazing weather couldnt be better.

Mulie, enjoy both his homecoming and feeling better!
