I have decided I either need school to start back up, a job, or both. I am so bored with everything it is truly pathetic. I am bored with TV, I am bored with the internet, I am bored with being home, I dont have anywhere to go LOL, I am just bored and it sucks!!!

Cute video, Shannon. Hi Sandy. Busy with work again. Lurk periodically.

Melissa said...

Good morning. Hope everyone had a nice long weekend. I've been battling headaches since Friday but I'm still alive and kicking. How's everyone else doing?

Margo said...

Hi Melissa. Today is back to school for us and I have one hell of a cold. I feel like oscar the grouch. Other than that - things are good :)

Shannon said...

Josh is actually having a day off today.....but after putting in over a 40 hour work week in 3 days it is deserved. I got to pick them up at 430 am after taking them to work at 10am....yuck.

Has been crazy busy at their work lately.

Tomorrow is the official first day of school funny thing is that 2 kids that should be going back to school want GED's instead. They best be doing something because they arent going to sit around and do nothing.

Lisa said...

Hi! Aww, I'm glad you liked the video!

Melissa, any idea what's causing the headaches?

Sorry the boredoms are going around...you could always clean. Or cook. Or nap. Or maybe that's just me. ;-)

Melissa said...

Lisa-after seeing 3 neurologists and a wide assortment of other doctors no one has been able to give me an actual diagnosis. I've had a spinal tap, numerous MRI's/CAT scans, seen a chiro, had nerve blocker shots etc. Nothing has worked. My last neuro offered to give me a script for pain meds just because he couldn't come up with anything else. Really makes me wonder if I'm off my rocker.

We had a case of boredom-itis yesterday and we ended up going through bins of our "old" stuff and going through it.

How's Miss Arse doing?

Margo said...

Melissa - I'm sorry they can't figure out what's causing them. Have you had your eyes checked? I was having a similar problem a few years ago - turned out I needed reading glasses.

Melissa said...

That was one of my first steps Margaret. My first neurologist actually sent me to the eye doctor to be sure. I was actually hoping that would be the solution to the problem but no such luck.

Lisa said...

Melissa, how miserable. :-/ Have they checked into food allergies?

Miss Arse is doing pretty good...the infection looks cleared up in the non-surgical eye and I'm not happy with how the transplant eye looks but maybe it's a normal thing. She goes back tomorrow so we'll know if I'm worrying needlessly or not. Thanks for asking!

Tammi said...

Love that video!

Just checking in. Long weekend, but had a great time. The beach, friends over, food, drink, yadda yadda.

Melissa...sorry about the headaches...:(

Lisa..hope things progress nicely for Miss A.

Lisa said...

Thanks, Tammi, and glad to hear you had a good time.

Is there anything new in the blogging world I need to know about, anyone?

Tammi said...

Blogging world? Is there such a thing? LOL I have no idea what I would blog about! Uh, did some laundry, pet the cat, unloaded the dishwasher, pet the dog...lol

Lisa said...

There *is a blogging world, yes! But I'm with you...I struggle with it because honestly, I just don't find myself all that interesting and it seems so arrogant to think others will. I try to do things that basically will leave my family a record of who I was and things I enjoyed in case I get hit by an out of control Cessna in Walmart or something.

Karen said...

Evening ladies! I love the video Shannon/Lisa!

Not alot going on in my corner of the world here - other than a new baby in the family - I went to visit her today- and she and her mommy went grocery shopping with me. I forgot how tiny they are in their car seats when they are just born... SO small!!

Lisa said...

Oh, Wendy. Wendy, Wendy, Wendy. Are you really sure that blocking me from your blog and redirecting me to http://toolshell.org/ was what you wanted to do? Hmmm, I guess so, since that's what you did. What happened? Didn't I validate your feelings hard enough? I can try harder. *nods and grins*

Lisa said...

Any minute now, Cheryl's going to make an appearance...lol.

I hope someone calls me a bitch at least once.

Karen said...

Lisa is a bitch!! Ha! Kidding but I had to fulfill your hopes!!

toolshell.org - that is a clock site - what is she trying to tell you?

Stranger and stranger!!!

Lisa said...

Thank you, Karen...that was nice. ;-)

Maybe I'm being told my time is limited or something. Or maybe it's like hooking a clock up to a bomb. Lol, no, seriously, Toolshell lets people on Blogger ban people who are being mean using their IP. I guess she thought I was mean when I said, "Awww, welcome back, Wendy! I know I've really missed that darn-skippy special way in which you honor and validate your own feelings and I bet I'm not the only one. Also, it's good news to hear you'll be claiming your own words again. That's so important. :-)"

Erin said...

Guess she only wants the warm fuzzy type of validation. Not something else. Like the truth perhaps?

Melissa- have you been tested for lymes? My friends MIL had horrible headaches. They could not find the source. Were almost to the point of putting in a pump for pain meds. Her lyme titer came back neg the first time, but positive the second.

So, so, so busy here. Anytime I get caught up, it just gets crazier!

Im mad I missed Megan (silvas) the other day. :(

Trudy said...

Hope everyone had a great weekend. We went north and just relaxed and did some golfing. My baby is going to San Diego in the morning to spend a week with her marine. It's her first trip without me =( i'm a sad mommy tonight.

Erin said...

Hey Trudy!

Lisa- her voice is like an opera. "Me,me,me,me,me,me,me!!"

Lisa said...

Hello, Mrs. Lutz! ;-) Stop catching up and maybe it'll stop being crazy.

And hell, I kind of suck with warm fuzzies.

I can't think of Megan without craving that Mexican lasagna...

Lisa said...

Well, Erin, it ain't over until the fat lady sings. :-D

Trudy, that makes my mommy heart sad for you. She'll be fine but will you?

Karen said...

Lisa- her voice is like an opera. "Me,me,me,me,me,me,me!!"

Erin - you made me choke on my ice cream!!! Ha!

Trudy - her marine??? Hmmm wow!

Trudy said...

I'll be Okay. I think.

Karen said...

Ahhh went to your blog Trudy and was reminded of the two 18 year olds and the 19 year old Marine decorating xmas cookies - and its all coming back to me now!! But it made me laugh again - Kids huh???

Lisa said...

I forgot about the pornographic cookies! Is this the same Marine? And Trudy, if you're anything like me, you'll be a mess for the first 2 days, and you'll sleep a lot on the 3rd day and relax. After that? You'll be pretty much okay. I hope so for you, anyway.

Trudy said...

She has worked two jobs all summer. Saved over 2000.00 i'm proud of her.

Karen said...

Will she call and check in - several times a day - Trudy? That might help calm your nerves... If she doesn't call you - you can just call her - say Hi - just wanted to let you know I let the dog out. Ok bye. Hi - just wanted to let you know that the mail came, ok bye... You get the idea....

Trudy said...

yup same one. lol

Karen said...

Wow - she really wants to go see that Marine huh? Good for her for working so hard and saving so much! I'm sure she will enjoy it - and I hope it doesn't worry you too much!!

Trudy said...

we tex all the time so i think i'll be okay.

Trudy said...

he's coming home with her for 2 weeks and then she's going back to cali in Nov. for the Marine Ball.

Lisa said...

Okay, I'm going to bed...early appointment to give me a clue about whether or not I need to get Miss Arse a "How To Read Braille" CD for Christmas. You know, since a book would be useless and all, if so.

Goodnight, everyone.
Can we have a welcome back party for Wendy tomorrow?

Trudy said...

I'll bring punch (spiked)

Karen said...

I'll drink the spiked punch... and we can all validate each other's feelings!!!

I hope the appointment for Miss Arse goes well tomorrow!! and I hope she doesn't need a book in Braille for xmas!!!

Erin said...

Goodnight AP. I am off too. Good idea on the trying to stop catching up.

I make mexican lasagne at least once every 2 weeks. Thank you Megan!!

Trudy- she sound like a good kid. Could you bring cake balls too?

Karen said...

Oh if there are cake balls - I will be here early - I'm sure they will go fast!

Goodnight I'm off too - babysitting 2 of my grandsons tomorrow all day - and then going out with my mom aunt and sister tomorrow night!!

Melissa said...

EL-No I haven't been tested to my knowledge for lymes. You mean that as in lyme disease, right? Or am I way off base?

Lisa-No to the food allergy testing thing too. I referred myself to a ENT and he was going to send me for the skin prick (or however they do it now)test but my insurance at the time wouldn't cover it. Would a food allergy cause a daily headache?
I hope that everything is hunky dory for Miss Arse tomorrow.

Trudy said...

Good luck to Miss Arse today. She is lucky to have you as a daughter Lisa. Good morning everyone.

Margo said...

Hi pot heads.

Melissa - my dad gets migraines from food allergies so it's possible. I feel really sorry you're suffering and hope they can get to the bottom of it.

EL - what is this mexican lasagna you speak of?

AP, I think Trudy is right. Arse is lucky to have a daughter like you even if you are a big biatch!

Deb said...

Wendy found her voice?

Did it say "Woe is me?"

Deb said...

Oh, good morning!

That mexican lasagna was the bomb, and I've been planning to make it for our first Ravens tailgate this year.

Hi Trudy! That is great that your daughter saved her own money for the trip, I hope she has a good time!

Lisa - I hope Miss Arse eye appt goes well and there are no issues!

Deb said...

Margo - I put the Mexican Lasagna recipe on the recipe page here

Melissa said...

The Mexican lasagna looks really good. I prepped a regular lasagna last night and it's all ready to go in the oven tonight for dinner. I think I'll try the Mexican version next week.

Melissa said...

Thanks Margaret for your compassion. I get tired of complaining about the headaches so most days I don't say anything but sometimes it just wears me down.
I'll have to look in to getting myself in to see an allergist.

Shannon said...

Morning ladies.....I think my whole sleep schedule is off now because of the work hours of my husband LOL....Got to bed yesterday at about 6am....slept till 11....took a nap at 2....phone call from some stalker woke me up at 4....couldnt go to sleep last night and had to get up at 630 HAHAHA thank god he took yesterday off.

Melissa I sooooo empathize with you on the headaches. I have heard that certain foods really can set off migraines. I would almost suggest doing the headache diary but also keep track of what you had to eat and drink. My migraines are now more bearable since my doctor put me on allergy meds, actually told me to get the Zyrtek no more wussy allergy pills lol, and a prescription for Flonaze. I has helped and now I get maybe 3 bad migraines a month with a few minor ones every week instead of a minor every day and sometimes 3 bad one a week.

Wendy is a psycho. Sorry woman but you are. You are so focused in how you lost your voice and so happy now that you have it again. I am sure you will lose it again so that you can get sympathy for it. All you ever focus on is what you have lost and what you dont have you never open your eyes to see what you do have. You need to learn to live forget the voice.....learn how to live for you and your son....when is the day to rejoice in that going to come?

Margo said...

I believe cheese really sets my dad off so it must be mold? With high humidity where you live maybe that's causing it. Chronic pain wears you down physically and mentally :(

Melissa said...

Pardon my ignorance on allergies but I have a question...Can you develop allergies as an adult? I thought that they were something that you were born with. I know that my brother had all sorts of allergies when he was little but he's fine now and as far as I know he doesn't take anything for it now.

Shannon said...

Oh no Melissa allergies can come on suddenly and at any age. It is kind of weird because like my ex he has never had allergies to anything except penicillin but now he has an allergy to NSAIDS and actually has developed hay fever.
And he just turned 37 yesterday.

Deb said...

Melissa - I'm sorry to hear you suffer the headaches. To answer, yes, you can develop allergies as an adult so it maybe something easily diagnosed and treated.

Dawn said...

Hey Ladies! Apologies in advance to all the cat lovers, but I just don't like them. I'm a dog person. Taylor is an "anything with fur" person so I think that makes up for my lack of cat love.

However, loved the video...very cute.

How's everyone doing?

Shannon said...

LOL Hi Dawn....I am definitely not a cat person either but Lisa sent me that link and I had to share it because it was too darn cute.

How are you guys doing? Business slowing down any? Taylor doing better?

Margo said...

Excellent article - http://www.time.com/time/arts/article/0,8599,2016484,00.html

Dawn said...

Hey Shannon. Business is not slowing down. In fact it's gotten even busier. That's why it's hard to come here and converse. I'll be in the middle of typing a response and I'll have to stop and deal with a customer. You can't be witty when you have to pause all the time.

Of course, in this economy, I'm never going to complaing about too much business.

Shannon said...

Oh no no complaining just a little less crazy is a good thing :)

The job I sent a resume in for emailed me today with an application. They are considering me for the position so apparently that means it was acceptable. I am nervous LOL

Lisa said...

Hey, all, and woooo hooo! It's a party for Wendy's coming-out! I'll bring narcotics. *nods*

Miss Arse's appointment went pretty well. Well enough to have her 20+ drops a day in that eye reduced to 8 and to not have to see that particular doctor again for 3 weeks! The negative is that the cornea slipped before it "caught" and bonded...not a huge deal since it's still within normal, acceptable limits but still not what he'd have loved. Nothing can be done about it, though, and hopefully it won't alter what her vision should become over time. The other infected eye looks a LOT better but the bad news in it is that he thinks she should wait maybe 3 months before the cataract is removed in it, but he says that's a decision for her other surgeon in the end. She's okay with that, even if she is disappointed. I think I was more disappointed than she was, actually. So in the end, good news but not 100% perfect.

PJ said...

I'm glad you got some good news, Lisa. Can she be on her own more now?

Lisa said...

Margaret, what a great article! Seriously, if y'all skipped it over, it's short and definitely worth a quick read. :-)

Dawn, shame on you about the cat thing. If you weren't so nice, I'd have issues with you.

Melissa, I'll just back up what everyone else has said about food allergies. It's so worth you looking into. Documenting everything that goes in your mouth would be a good place to start and seeing if there's a common denominator on days you have them or when they're the worst. Alternately, maybe an allergist would be a good next doctor to try. You feel well enough to come to the party though, right?

Lisa said...

Thanks, CK< and she's totally on her own now and has been since 2 days after the transplant. We pop in on her once or twice a day to tend to the cat's needs (she isn't allowed to bend over) and run errands for her. She was miserable with us hovering all over her so she just keeps her phone on her and fends for herself. It makes her so much happier. Maybe I should take that personally. ;-)

How are you doing?

PJ said...

Lisa - doing fine. Drama-less life at the time. Just working hard. Long days.

PJ said...

Lisa - glad to hear she's pretty much on her own. You're probably both happier with that.

PJ said...

My daughter is back at college, so we're both happier with that too.

Lisa said...

CK, I suspect it's very much the same thing, yes! Drama-less life is always good...well, except online, then a little drama is always fun. ;-)

Shannon said...

Hey Lisa and CK

Lisa glad to hear that Ms Arse is doing well....for the most part anyway. I know my mother would be chomping at the bit to get me out of the house if I were tending to her LOL

Speaking of internet drama have you been keeping up with the Tina drama on So over Mck?

twirldawg said...

Hey, remember me?

Had to go out of town a couple of weeks ago and was Internetless for about a week. It felt so good that I cut back on my online time and actually go days without getting on the computer. I've also been reading a lot and doing that whole, you know, parenting thing.

Hope everyone is well.

Shannon said...

JILL!!!!

I wondered what happened to you lady! Parenting though seriously? Why would anyone want to waste time doing that :)

twirldawg said...

Shannon!

We've been potty training off and on. The last "incident" was enough to make me take a break from it. I won't go into detail about said incident because, well, it'd too MckMama-like for me to do so.

What is So Over Mck? Another new site?

Lisa said...

Jill!! I knew you were okay from FB and love the pics of R. He's so cute! I'm glad to see you here, though. And isn't So Over Mck a site the people who have the Liz site did, as well? What's Tina up to over there? Bless her heart, she just gets people riled all over the place, doesn't she?

Lisa said...

By the way, my fat-ass, dieting self is in heaven. Chips and salty things are my weakness and I've had to really limit my sodium but I happened to read the back of a pack of Spicy Caribbean flavored plantain chips (Chifles brand) and realized they're fairly diet friendly. 34 (yes, 34!) pieces have 150 calories, 8 gms of fat and only 30 mg of sodium! Plus, they taste good. Figured I'd mention this for my fellow dieters...ymmm. These may make this diet a whole lot easier.

Shannon said...

I hated the potty training phase it can be so frustrating.

Lisa it is just Tina continuing on with her "someone stole my account" crap. Ya know she never went anywhere and said anything mean about anybody....and apparently it was a Daisy in her world who stole her login information and did all that....because we all know that she needs the help of others to be a bitch.

Shannon said...

Lisa I may have to see if we have those chips here....I hate getting the salty cravin it sucks.
My friend who works at a truly hippie store has been saving my ass in the sweets dept. They make these bars that have nuts and grains and cocoa and it is sweetened with this rice stuff. So they are pretty healthy for me and dont have the ton of sugar that I am trying to avoid.

Shannon said...

Oh and I have to go clothes shopping soon for interview clothes. I bought these khaki cords from Walmart for 9 bucks.....didnt try them on....they are skinny jeans!!! They fit and all but I dont see them as being appropriate for an interview.

twirldawg said...

Thanks Lisa. I'm pretty fond of R myself :) He's something.
I'm doing the 30 day shred again but not really dieting. Salt is my big weakness too.

Shannon said...

I am working on another 5 lbs and I am going to try the shred again....at where I was I had way too much jiggling going on. But since I am not within 20lbs of where I would like to be I am very happy.

Lisa said...

Shannon, yeah, those skinny cords won't be good but congrats on getting an interview! What's it for? This is exciting.

Y'all should definitely look for plantain chips - just be sure to read the back since they may not all be the same. I've always liked them but never dreamed they'd be this much more diet-friendly than regular chips. Plus, a 5 ounce bag was only $1.29. They aren't as salty as I'd love but the spices on them make it fine.

I wonder which Daisy stole Tina's identity? We're badasses, we are.

twirldawg said...

Riiiigh, because if I'm going to spend my time impersonating someone on the Internet I'm going to be Tina.

Shannon said...

Well I dont have the interview yet but I got rid of all the interview clothes I had....Being a positive thinker that I try to be I have to get some more LOL

It sucks because I saw the pants and thought they were perfect for a business casual style of dress for an interview.....yeah would have been nice if the tag would have said SKINNY LOL

Shannon said...

Jill we all know it was you!!! HAHAHAHA

Because between potty training and trying just to raise a toddler you want to be impersonating her!

I would go for someone more sweet and innocent if I was going to say nasty things to people pretending I was them.

Lisa said...

Jill always did seem fishy to me. ;-)

Shannon, get a pair of dark colored dress slacks in a simple fabric, be it cotton or polyester. Polyester is good since it won't wrinkle or fade. Get a couple of tops to match, or better yet, see if you can find a lightweight twin set in a pale, neutral color. This'll be work well for interviews in either an office environment or a more casual environment with nice flats and simple jewelry. It's easy to wear, comfortable and pretty foolproof.

Shannon said...

Josh should be getting paid this week so Shannon will have to get her some new clothes worthy of interviewing.

I am hoping that the change of seasons will find me some awesome deals at Walmart or Target and if not then this girl will be hitting Ross, TJ Max, and Value Village :)

I used to have so many interview clothes but with the weight gain I got rid of them all. Figures that now I am losing all kinds of weight and dont have the clothes anymroe LOL

Margo said...

That's goodish news on Arse's eye :)

Stealing personalities - is that like the body snatchers internet style?

Melissa said...

Thanks for all of the headache/allergy related input. I'm going to find a somewhat local allergist and get myself an appointment.

I'm always game for a party-so count me in. :)

I want to steal the personality of someone who is way more interesting than me.

Muliebrity said...

Hey, all! Glad Ms Arse is on the mend.

Melissa, I have been getting a daily headache since the baby was born and last week I had a migraine that started on Monday and I tried to hold it back with a hand full of motrin a couple of times of day. By Thursday, I was a mess! My stomach was killing me and the headache was on full force. Friday was the day we were going to Branson, and I was trying to get everything packed up, and I felt like I was hung over/on drugs/had a brain tumor, you name it! It was freaky. I am so sick of these headaches though. I hope you get yours figured out and then I can take your diagnosis and get mine fixed. These things are no fun.

Tammi said...

Well, we were talking dieting..I did it. Got up at 5 and worked out. It's BS I tell ya! LOL

Shannon, do you have an Express near? They have great interview clothes. Nice slacks, crisp white shirts, etc. I would go for a pair of their editor pants in black, one of the editor striped blouses, a nice kitten heel black shoe, and simple silver jewelry. You can't go wrong there. You look stylish, but appropriate.

Muliebrity said...

If you have a Marshall's (or TJ Maxx), Shannon, I think I saw some of the Express pants Tammi is talking about. They have had those Editor pants around for a while and they are something you will be able to hold onto for a while. If you are going to Express, google Express coupons first. They will usually have a printable coupon to use in store. The same goes for New York and Company.

Tammi said...

Mulie. Yup. I get the coupons in the mail all the time. Spend $90 get $30 off, etc..

And I have seen the Editor pants at TJ's before also. They just never have the Talls for me.

Shannon said...

OOOOO I am checking out such things right now ladies thanks.

God I suck so much it is amazing that they can ever get past the once upon a time horrible resume and then the horrible attire for the interview. I seriously have NO sense of style at all. I am a girl who normally wears ratty old jeans, t-shirts, skate shoes, and a hoodie......I am sooooo not into fashion and have a hard time dressing myself properly for interviews.

Margo said...

Mulie - Hannah got a pillow pet for her birthday. It's super cute, I just hope she doesn't try and sneak out of the house to get it in the middle of the night!

"I want to steal the personality of someone who is way more interesting than me" - maybe if you change your name to something like Starlisha you'll be more interesting :)

Muliebrity said...

Starlisha is my (online) middle name! Muliebrity Starlisha Smith

Which pillow pet did she get, Margaret? Logan has a turtle, Hunter has the bear, and apparently, Muliette wants the dolphin, but since I hate all things dolphin, she won't be getting that.

Muliebrity said...

And, I don't remember if I answered you the other day or not, Margaret, but I do think Hunter is sleepwalking. He had no memory of it the next day and while were were out of town, we barricaded the door every night with the coffee table to keep him in. He "woke up" several times crying and talking, but was clearly asleep. Nothing major the 2 nights we've been home though. We are going to discuss it with his doctor though. My mom, sister and uncle are/were all sleepwalkers/talkers.

Lisa said...

Why in the world would you hate all things dolphin?

"I want to steal the personality of someone who is way more interesting than me."

Me, too. Maybe we could just make shit up?

Lisa said...

*slaps Shannon's hands for following Tina all over the internet*

annnnnd...

*slaps Tina's hands for lurking here and not addressing things that bother her *here instead of taking them to unrelated forums because maybe if she addressed them here, Shannon wouldn't have to follow her around*

Does that about cover it?

Margo said...

Her pillow pet is a lady bug - it's SO soft!

Melissa said...

Well, I'm all for stealing a personality and although I love the name Starlisha, I don't want to steal it from Mulie. We'll have to come up with some other fabulous name(s).

Shannon said...

HAHAHAHA I cant help it Tina just intrigues me with her Danielleisms.

Shannon said...

Personally these pillow pets are sounding pretty interesting....do they have online accounts? Mulie you could steal their identities and lure little children to the road when they should be sleeping.

Shannon said...

Sorry Lisa you spanked my hand but the bitch is pissing me off. She doesnt like that she started all this shit again and it is coming back at her.

Muliebrity said...

"Why in the world would you hate all things dolphin?"

I like actual dolphins, I just don't care for dolphin merchandise and tattoos of dolphins dancing around ying yangs. It's just a weird thing I have.

Hunter really wanted the ladybug pillow pet! We convinced him he wanted the bear. Did you see they sell them at Dollar General now? A friend posted that on FB and we checked over the weekend and they do sell them there! They are $5 cheaper then they sell them online. Logan is obsessed with his!

Lisa said...

I used to farm under the name Ver'Tasha. I can use that. :-D

Lisa said...

Well, Shannon, have at it. I just felt like slapping so bitches and y'all were handy!

Shannon said...

HAHAHA yeah sometimes that happens :)

Margo said...

Melissa could be cupcake but that's too easy.
How about something trendy like Michael Jackson's son Blanket.

Melissa said...

I don't really feel like a Blanket, ya know?

What about Willow? Or something more "earthy"?

Muliebrity said...

How about Incense? Patchouli? Abelia?

Margo said...

I like Willow!

Melissa said...

Okay. Maybe not "earthy". Maybe we should go for stripper names or something.

Muliebrity said...

Melickya?

Margo said...

Shannon's name is going to be Katherine after the first woman to enter the Boston Marathon. Marathon runners are good at chasing people.

Shannon said...

LOL but I want to know how I can be chasing someone who keeps showing up to places after me?

PJ said...

Tammi - mmmm....kitten heels.

I'm a true addict.

PJ said...

I think I'll be Ms. Kitten Heels.

Lisa said...

Are we still renaming Melissa? Just change the spelling. M'eLyssuh.

Lisa said...

Ohhh, bad stuff is happening. Rev. Terry Jones just announced they've agreed to move the "Ground Zero" mosque if he agrees to not burn Qurans. Big, news-breaking announcement. He claims he has their word on it. However, the Imam of that mosque says he said no such thing. This is about to become very, very ugly.

Tammi said...

Mulissuh. Hooked on phonics and all...lol

PJ said...

Foolish, arrogant little man, that Reverand.

Tammi said...

Burning the Qurans is about the dumbest thing ever! I swear. Yeah, that will help...NOT!

Lisa said...

Huh. I could just be Lisuh. I kind of like that.

CK, he's a dangerous little man. I've got a bad, bad feeling he lied through his teeth so he could then say they broke their word to him. FTR< the Imam who is the head of the Central Florida Islamic Society gave a lovely speech, very patriotic, pro-American, calling the US the greatest country on Earth. He also said he feels that, in light of all the ugliness, the mosque should be moved in an effort to regain peace. I thought that unsettling, to be honest. Makes me wonder if he's caught wind of Really Bad Stuff about to happen, you know?

Lisa said...

It *is dumb. It accomplishes absolutely nothing but to piss people off.

PJ said...

The Florida Islamic Society Imam - "I told the pastor that I personally believe the mosque should not be there, and I will do everything in my power to make sure it is moved," Musri said. "But there is not any offer from there (New York) that it will be moved. All we have agreed to is a meeting, and I think we would all like to see a peaceful resolution."

Shannon said...

Oh this is getting worse and worse. I dont see anything with this man and his book burning ending well.

PJ said...

How, in anyone's world, does that translate into a promise to move the cultural center?

Shannon said...

What I would like to know is what does some little piss ant wanna be pastor have to do with anything in NY? Like I said this isnt going to end well and I see ugliness coming because of it all.

PJ said...

Visions of grandeur on his part.

Lisa said...

Exactly! Yet Jones is all over our local news, swearing he has their word it will be moved. Have y'all thought about how easily this could turn in to world-wide holy war right here on our shores? It's worrisome. :-/

Shannon said...

Believe me Lisa I have thought about it. When nearly 30% if not more or our world is Muslim it worries the shit out of me....all because of one little man who has to propagate hatred.

Kinda like a small group of radicals propagated hatred and started a war.

Cant we just put these little groups in a box and let them fight to the death? What gives them the right to make decisions that impact everyone?

Lisa said...

Well, they'll tell you that their God does. I will disagree and duck.

Shannon said...

LOL no kidding....wouldnt it be nice if they realized they were all cut from the same cloth and focus on where they are the same instead of where they are different....you know like they all have the same God? The God of Abraham?

suz said...

Hi Daisies!!
I am planning a burning of books on Saturday too. The Girl Scout Handbook.. I hated being a girl scout. I did not look good in green and did not like being told what to do. I do like the cookies though! OK..I am kidding I am not burning anything Saturday except maybe a tri tip.
I agree, this whole thing is nuts. I think it is a pity to burn any books. Hopefully this will simmer down and this guy will put his head out of his A$%^ and realize burning the Koran will not solve anything.

suz said...

Ok. That is PULL his head out of his A#$%. not put.

Lisa said...

Lol, my mind understood, Suz. I'm really worried a bunch of idiots will do something ignorant like bomb mosques on 9/11, regardless of what happens. And that? Will be a bad, bad thing. It's a good thing I still have the supplies I bought for Wendy's party that never really happened. ;-)

How are you doing?

suz said...

Lisa, I know, I was being too glib about it. It is a potentially dangerous situation. His action could cause so much trouble. Did not mean to be such a smart ass, just the mood I am in I guess.
I am doing good! My work is finally starting to slow down so I hope to visit here more often.

Lisa said...

Suz, smartasss is always welcome. No sense in not having some fun with it. Hell, it might be some of the last fun we ever have!

And good to you visiting more often!

Melissa said...

So far I like all of the name variations for me. :) Melissa in Hawaiian is Melika (Mah-lick-uh) so Mulie's idea isn't too far out there either!
This Jones dude skeeves me out a bit.

Margo said...

Terry Jones is a waste of cells.

I just felt something crawling up my leg - I thought it was Hannah messing around. It was a huge cave cricket - eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!

Shannon said...

Hi suz sorry I missed ya.....hope you are doing good....love the smart assesness myself it keeps things light :)

Shannon said...

Margaret the cave crickets we have here actually live in caves how in the hell do you have one pretending to be Hannah???

How in the hell are you still capable of communicating LOL I would still be screaming attached to the ceiling :)

Margo said...

We have lots of cave crickets but generally they don't get into the house. I thought Hannah was tickling my leg at first until I looked down - eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!

Muliebrity said...

I certainly don't understand why Rev Jones is even getting this kind of attention. He is small potatoes and a nothing of a person. He is a moron and I am sick to death of the media giving unlimited air time to idiots.

I believe he will be arrested before he is allowed to burn any books.

Muliebrity said...

Thanks, Margaret. I now have phantom crickets crawling all over me.

Tammi said...

Mornin'! Hope everyone is doing good...18 million things to do today. Found a flea on the dog...about had a fit. We don't do fleas...LOL! So off to the land of hell..Wal Mart...to get some stuff for her. Poor cats, they feel molested. I combed them up and down seeing if they had anything, didn't see one. I haven't seen a flea forever!! Is it the time of year or something?

Lisa said...

Tammi, have you had a lot of rain? That coupled with summer heat certainly will bring fleas on.

"I certainly don't understand why Rev Jones is even getting this kind of attention. He is small potatoes and a nothing of a person. He is a moron and I am sick to death of the media giving unlimited air time to idiots."

If you believe as I do, that our government has some heavy control over our media (didn't the whole oil spill thing go away basically overnight, hmmm?), you have your answer right there. Obama has been taking a beating in the more independent media lately and this was something good to distract people, refocus them *and give him a chance to talk about something else and try to improve his image.

"I believe he will be arrested before he is allowed to burn any books."

I think he's still saying he won't burn them but there's really nothing he could be arrested for. He could get a citation and fine for an unpermitted fire but that's about it.

Margo said...

I think AP is right re: media spin. I just hope that nutbird doesn't set off something bad tomorrow. I've been through one September 11th - I don't want to go through another one.

Shannon said...

God I do love it when I see that others feel like I do....our government allows our media to tell us what is good for our government. Have you ever noticed that when our president is in trouble or when an ugly finger is pointing at our government something happens and the medias attention is FULLY consumed by that incident?

Obama has had the oil spill and now this Rev. Jones thing to divert attention.

Everytime Bush was finding himself in a sticky situation....the terror alert level increased and the media was all about this new potential threat.

When's the last time we heard about some 'terrorist' group trying to sneak over the borders? I remember a couple of years ago it was nearly constant that someone was coming from Canada into the PNW either by train or car with some WMD....I cant remember the last time I heard one of those stories.

Our govt is all about keeping us diverted and distracted so we dont pay attention to what is happening, at least not till after they fix it. Our media is just the tool to get it done.

Lisa said...

Obama has had the oil spill and now this Rev. Jones thing to divert attention."

Yep, attention was diverted from the oil spill trying to get a big race controversy going. And you're right, they *all do it, Obama isn't alone. I'd just hoped he'd be the exception.

So, it all just got worse. Our local news just carried a news conference by this nutjob, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K._A._Paul, calling both the local and the NYC Imam liars and giving the NYC Imam a deadline of 3:20 pm to do something. I missed what, but I think agree to meet with Pastor Jones and discuss moving the mosque. I missed what will happen if this deadline is ignored, too, dammit, but this is going to turn incredibly ugly and quickly. I can't find anything online on this new conference yet...

Lisa said...

Okay, here it is. http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/World-News/Koran-Burning-Pastor-Terry-Jones-Gives-Two-Hour-Ultimatum-To-New-York-Imam-Over-Ground-Zero-Mosque/Article/201009215724870?lpos=World_News_Carousel_Region_0&lid=ARTICLE_15724870_Koran-Burning_Pastor_Terry_Jones_Gives_Two-Hour_Ultimatum_To_New_York_Imam_Over_Ground_Zero_Mosque

Margo said...

I bet Terry Jones had this whole scenario planned from the beginning.

Lisa said...

It's sure possible, Margaret. I wonder what the plan is when 3:20 rolls around and the Imam has blown them off? Because I would most certainly ignore their asses.

Margo said...

I can't believe these idiots that are getting on TV saying - well they are allowed to burn our bibles. Um, you're missing the point brainiac - that's wrong too!

Shannon said...

No kidding Margaret.....it isnt the point that they can burn one so we can burn the other. The point is is that either way it is to inflame and infuriate and that is wrong. It is done out of spite and hate for the sole purpose of getting an angry response.

Margo said...

I think this is a good article on Sept 11th and what's happened since. http://tinyurl.com/27ex4e5

Lisa said...

Morning, all! Margaret, that *is a good article, yes. But now, for my un-PC moment - I am so damn sick of all the 9/11 coverage. It happened, it was awful and no one will ever forget it but there comes a point you just need to move on and stop reliving it in such detail, year after year. It seems unhealthy to keep doing this year after year.

Lisa said...

And then, just to be as inconsistent as I can possibly be, Tammi had this video posted on FB and I got all teary. Dammit.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3eQmzw6n3k&feature=player_embedded#!

Shannon said...

OMG Lisa I was going to say pretty much what you just did....about really just being over it all ready. For 9 years now we have see the same footage over and over again, seen the same interviews, heard the same stories....I hate that it happened but I dont have to relive it in its entirety every single year.

Lisa said...

Shannon, it reminds me of our conversation about grief awhile back and how you have to eventually put it in its proper place and go on. I'm not saying it ought not be mentioned, not at all, but this all-day, on-going coverage sure seems like it serves to keep wounds open. And it also seems like we give those who did this their power back, year after year, too.

Shannon said...

I agree it really is the grief saga. There has to be a point where it becomes a memorial that does not keep the wounds open. It isnt healthy to keep the fear, anger, and hurt so active and alive. And YES I think that for those who did this it does give them power. The goal wasnt for massive deaths or even the destruction that came with it it was to propagate fear and by doing day long coverage all over the TV it is a boost to know that the fear is still alive so long after.

Shannon said...

I did read this morning that the whackadoo has declared that there will be no Quaran burning today or any other day....glad that he made a decision like that because it really was not going to benefit anyone at all.

Lisa said...

I found a great article I wanted to share. I happen to agree with it 100%. It's written by Michael Moore, and I will unashamedly admit I like him to begin with. :-P Still, think about the points he makes...they're good ones, no?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/michael-moore/if-that-mosque-isnt-built_b_713127.html

Shannon said...

I love people like Michael Moore....just because you dont agree with the message doesnt mean it doesnt make you think and maybe just maybe open your eyes just a little bit. Anyone that can do that to the people of this country is a genius in my book :)

Gonna go read now :)

Shannon said...

WOW!! Lisa that article is definitely worth the read.

I watched a couple of 'conspiracy theory' videos today about the events of that day and what has happened to SEVERAL who knew things from that day that have happened to die since then. It is enough to make ones eyes open and put a question in your mind.

Margo said...

I agree with you that replaying the footage over and over again is not good and it's not healthy. I wonder if the same thing was done years ago on say the day Pearl Harbor was bombed. The difference now is most everybody has a TV, computer, etc.

Off to read what Mr. Moore has to say.

Shannon said...

Oh I am sure that it would have been repeated back then if they would have had the technology and such.

For myself it feels like we are stuck. We are stuck in that day and havent been able to go on because everything that happened that day is used as a justification for things that have happened since. When is it ok to be done reliving that day every single year? It doesnt mean that the nation forgets it just means that we dont have to have our anger reignited all over again.

KaytieJ said...

Very valid points.
I chose not to watch TV coverage of 9/11 today. I did talk of my experiences, though, with dear friends, which helped me regain my composure to attend a 9/11 Benefit for First Responders.

I won't lie and say that I did not cry during all of the speeches and songs and nonsecular prayers for Peace and Healing.

There were people there who were survivors from the Towers. Their message was not one of hate or retaliation to Muslims. It was one of being thankful and amazed for those that ran into those buildings to save people like themselves who were running out. It was to remember the Civilians who chose to divert a plane from a possible course of more people dying.

Not once was it used as a forum by the very public figures to whip up animosity or hatred towards Muslims. Instead it was an active tribute to past, current and future First Responders, no matter their religious beliefs.

On another note - my husband had a Corporate picnic today (9/11). At the park, there were a group of Muslims next to them, the women in full Burkah (sp) - just eye slits. They were not protesting or making any to do about it being 9/11. No one protested them being there or harassed them. Some people did question my husband about it, and he said, "This is what America is all about. If they were afraid to be here and hid, we all lose"

Shannon - both these events happened in your State. I am putting all of this out here in hopes to show that there are everyday people and politicians who ARE trying to make it better, one step at a time.

Melissa said...

Sure is quiet around here. I'll pop back in later to see if anyone else stops in.

Muliebrity said...

Is this thing on?

I was just wondering the same thing, Mulie.

What's the frequency Kenneth?

Lisa said...

Hey, I love R.E.M.!

I'm here, procrastinating on a mall trip I don't want to make. I guess I sort of gave up on it around here, at least checking in every day.

I don't know, Shannon, maybe do one of those old "20 things about me not many know" games or something?

And on a totally unrelated note in my quest to become a serial poster, what the *hell?

http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20425600,00.html?hpt=T2

The kid is 16. Of course he's single. Why in the world is this okay, some 16 year old BOY assuring the world he's single? First off, single means "not married"; it does not mean "no girlfriend". And why are people treating this kid like he's anything BUT a kid?

"My mom didn't even want me dating, but that kind of didn't work,"

So, he's flaunting that he disobeyed her, broke rules and everyone just accepts this? Including, apparently, her? He could at least have the respect for her to sneak and lie about it...jeeeez.

Margo said...

I can't stand that kid! Remember when Lianne Rhyme wrote her autobiography at like 17 - shish!

Shannon said...

Child stars especially child singers.....PISH on them all.....The guys on the local afternoon radio show are about 99% sure he is gay because apparently at the VMAs he was totally ignoring all the girls screaming at him.

Lisa said...

It's just all so weird to me...Miley Cyrus' folks let her live with her boyfriend when she was what? 15? And no one in the media even really blinked an eye about it all. But if *we did that, social services would be all over our asses.

Shannon said...

Hell yes they would....I dont know about every state but I recently discovered that if you knowingly allow your minor child to have sex with their boy/girlfriend you are actually in violation of the law and can be convicted of a serious sex offense.

Yet the 'rich and famous' are allowed to do what they wish....and what makes it even better is that they are such a fabulous influence on our young children.

Hence why Jessica and Brittany were NEVER allowed in my house when Mikala was younger.

Lisa said...

But they still know and hear...how could you protect your 13 year old girl from the whole Justin Beiber phenomenon, you know?

Shannon said...

Oh I know.....I am just glad that Mikala is pushing 19 now and is so OVER that genre of music.

I dont doubt for a minute that she heard them when she was out an about...I am too much of a realist to delude myself on that one but I sure wasnt going to encourage it by allowing it in the house.

Lisa said...

Sometimes, just making that effort is the best you can do.

Well, now I'm wishing we'd gone to the mall. I'm in the mood for new makeup. There's just no making me happy, lol.

Anyone have any good dinner plans?

Shannon said...

HAHAHA Lisa I love buying makeup....i hate wearing it. Or would that be taking the time to put it on?

I am really wanting to make some soup but I know that only about 1/3 of the household would be pleased that I did that. I hate picky eaters.

I think instead we will end up having some kind of chicken just dont know what I want to do with it.

Lisa said...

I've got two breasts thawed. They look so unexciting, though.

I love makeup and even love putting it on but just don't bother a lot of the time...for what? A trip to Publix? But I suddenly want new anyway. Anyone have any good mascara recommendations?

Shannon said...

That would be me too.....I like to get all prettyful but seriously I dont hardly leave the house who would see it LOL Josh sees me with makeup on and wonders if he forgot some big occasion :P

Lisa said...

You know we ought to just do it for us. I swear, I've really let myself go some and I think I'd feel a lot better all around if I made an extra effort each day.

I found a package of Taco Bell dinner in the pantry, you know that comes with shells, cheese sauce and seasonings? Have sour cream, have a can of pintos I can smash and have a bag of Spanish rice mix. Dinner is now planned. Chicken tacos.

Shannon said...

I am contemplating getting something kind of like that but havent taken the plunge yet....I am uninspired by the chicken LOL

And I do agree with the letting ones self go. I think that perhaps I need to do something to boost my self esteem. I have stopped coloring my hair and it is getting rather yucky and looking more like a witches wig then my hair. And never mind I dont even put clothes other then sweats on for most of the day. SIGH...maybe I should do something to purdy myself up.

Lisa said...

I got the brilliant idea about 4 years ago to stop coloring my hair and suffered through a painfully awkward growing out period of nearly 2 years. I'm probably 75% gray and it's a pretty charcoal gray so I thought it would be nice to own it *and not worry about upkeep on roots. I can't say I've regretted it but it sure does make me look older and less like I care for myself, even though I do keep a nice style. Couple that with no makeup and jeans and Walmart t-shirts? And Crocs? Yeah, it's not exactly what I'm proud of. Should we do something about this?

Shannon said...

My gray shows up predominantly in the front but when I have it pulled back it really shows. I mean I get that I am pushing the threshold of 40 but when most days I dont feel that old it is a challenge.

I pretty much stopped coloring it because the only way I can get color to stay more then about a week is if I go in and have it done at the salon. My hair is that silver/white crap that just to me anyway shines like a beacon.

And yes I would be the girl in the Walmart atire, skate shoes, and no make up LOL.

Perhaps a little makeup everyday will increase the self esteem or perhaps taking the plunge and getting my hair colored will do it. I mean hell if I wanted to do my own at this point I think I would have to go blond and with my BLACK hair I dont know that it would be a pretty site LOL

Muliebrity said...

Logan is running a fever and been telling me how sad he is because he doesn't want me to die. He asked me if I am going to get old and die, and I may have said the wrong thing: Logan, you don't have to be old to die. Oopsie!

Shannon said...

OH no.... Mulie that may have been a big Freudian slip there. Hopefully he gets to feeling better and realizes his mommy wont be dying too terribly soon.

Muliebrity said...

Shannon, I have heard to color your hair lighter when you are going grey. I guess it won't show grey as fast or something.

Shannon said...

I am gonna go see my friend who happens to own a beauty shop and see what she can do for me...even if she does highlights or something it will help to blend it all in. I am not usually a vain high upkeep kinda girl but I am SOOOOO not ready to look in the mirror and see my mother :)

Lisa said...

Lol, Mulie, oopsie is right but that was funny! I hope Logan feels better soon.

Shannon, before I stopped coloring, I had great luck with the Nice N Easy for gray hair. Not the regular one, but the one that specifies for gray on the package. I don't care how light you go, if you have dark hair with lots of gray, roots are going to show as they grow out. I kept another box of the same stuff and 2-3 weeks into it, I mixed half and retouched my roots only.

Shannon said...

My friend says she will help me to escape the little old lady....probably be like 30 bucks for a trim and a color but then it will only be like 10 for the touch ups....it is nice having friends in the industry LOL She is good and she is willing to work with me on it all.

Muliebrity said...

On another hair note, I haven't washed my hair in three weeks.

twirldawg said...

on purpose?

Muliebrity said...

"on purpose?"

Yes. We were talking about "no 'poo" or whatever it's called on BF, and since it had already been a few days since I washed my hair, I figured, why not?

Every couple of days I use baking soda, rinse, and use a apple cider vinegar rinse. I am still not sure, but I keep holding out.

Shannon said...

I think that might kill my hair LOL....I am a big fat chicken because of my curls. I would be scared to death of frizz.

Margo said...

What does that do to your hair? My hair is falling out really bad - when I was it it's horrible. However, I don't want to go to work smelling like a douche.

Margo said...

was it = wash it

Anonymous said...

Margaret I've been washing with baking soda and rinsing with vinegar for a few years. It leaves my hair really clean and shiny. The vinegar smell dissipates after it's dry, but you can put essential oils for scent.

Hair falling out may be due to a hormonal imbalance, like your thyroid. Have you had that checked?

Margo said...

I think the hair loss is from my ace inhibitor and beta blocker. It has happened before. But, I think I'll get the hormone angle checked out because it's never been this bad. Maybe I'll try baking soda and vinegar too.
