Just a new post for the day with some beauty and serenity

This was sent to me by a friend online here :)  I think this is where I want to go to hide out for a while.

A nice peaceful place without so much as a power line to block your view of the beauty.

Josh and Rya said...

Looks like Wyoming.

Deb said...

Wow, *gorgeous photo. Love the tranquility.

I think a break from the current situation is in order Shannon, huh?

I'm out for the day ladies. I'll catch up later.

Shannon said...

Yes Deb after last night I just need some peace for the day LOL

I know peeps still want to talk...I dont really have a problem with that I wont say you cant but for me right now this is what I wanted to see :)

Shannon said...

J & R it does look much like Wyoming area....I must say I havent been there for so long but I want to go back again it is just so beautiful.

Lisa said...

How beautiful and I recognize the eye behind that. :-)

Gosh, it suddenly got very quiet around here...everyone hiding?

suz said...

Shannon, Love the photo. I wouldn't mind being in open country like that so beautiful.
I saw on the last thread someone was canning jalapenos. Anyone care to share a recipe? We planted a super small garden this year and have an abundance of jalapenos. Would love to know how to can or pickle them for the hubs.

Shannon said...

suz it makes me jealous of my aunt and uncle because last month they moved to the great wide open of Montana....from what they have told me and pics they have shown they get to live in this kind of serenity every single day.

suz said...

We hate Cali. But it is where family is. We liked Oregon, lived there for 1 year and came back. I would love to move to Montana. We visited the Flathead lake/Kalispel area and loved it. But my decent paying job and family are here so here we stay.
Well Shannon that means to you need to go visit!

Shannon said...

I am planning a visit with them next summer.....they arent quite ready with the house to have visitors just yet but they will be getting some next year :)

Family is what keeps me in Oregon. I would like to live somewhere else but I am pretty sure I would be back here in a hurry

suz said...

Shannon, family was the real pull for me. Well something fun to look forward to for you next summer.
Hi Lisa!

Shannon said...

I am wanting to hit Yellowstone both on the way there and the way back.

Erin said...

Not caught up at all, and only on for a second. Wanted to say beautiful picture!!! I am fairly sure I recognize the artist behind the lense as well ;) I think I would like to veg on the ground cloudgazing at this pic for a while....
Alas, life calls!

suz said...

Oh fun! We went to Yellowstone when I was a kid. It was pretty cool, but I would like to return as an adult. I want to get to Glacier National Park? Is that the other one in Montana? We missed it last time, it was on fire and basically closed down that year.

Robin in Montana said...

Hey all! Glacier is the other park in MT, yes, and runs into Canada. It is, IMNO, more beautiful than Yellowstone, but not as many animals, I guess. What year are you talking about with the fires?

suz said...

Robin is was 1999 when we were in Montana. I guess we still could have gone to the park but it was super smokey and we were basically discouraged to go in. I regret it though. I still want to see it.

Robin in Montana said...

Ah - I was back in Oregon during that time. We were just commenting last night that it's getting to be about that time of year for
fires -- the lightning is really whipping at night. Love the lightning, but hate what the fires do. (Except for the part where morel mushrooms grow there next year. :))

suz said...

I have never tried morel mushrooms! I have always wanted to, but I can not find em at the store and I would bet they would be $$. Fires are a double edge sword to be sure.

Shannon said...

I got to go to Yellowstone when I was 13....many many moons ago, but it has stuck in my head all these years. I want to take the husband and kids because they have never gotten to go. From the sounds of it I need to make it an extended vacation and hit Glacier Park too.

twirldawg said...

Beautiful picture. I've never been to the midwest. Looks lovely.

I know there are some beer lovers on here, I don't like it, but I saw this and thought I'd post it here.

suz said...

Shannon my theory on going both places is yes! How many more opportunities will you have to do that with your kids. It will no doubt be expensive but those are priceless places and priceless family times IMHO. :P We were able to do some traveling like that as kids and they are great memories.

Margo said...

I'm taking a diet coke break and saying hello. The photograph is really beautiful - just look at that sky!

suz said...

Hello Kitty.. I mean Margaret! lol.

T@iy@ said...

Hello! It's so hot 'round here. Oh, wait, that's pretty much the consensus everywhere, eh? We are hanging in the a/c today at my mom's.

Beautiful photo! Looks like a good place to relax to me.... let's all meet up there with our lawn chairs and beverage of choice. :)

Margo said...

Hello Suzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Margo said...

Hello Taiya. I'm going to lay on a blanket and look at that beautiful sky - ahh.

Shannon said...

I am with you ladies...I think we need to pack up the coolers and the chairs and grab some grub and go watch the clouds dance across the sky.

T@iy@ said...

I'll bring the potato salad and lemonade. :)

KaytieJ said...

I'll bring the VooDoo (donuts, that is).
So ready to kick back and admire my pedicure, oh, and that beautiful sky :-D

Shannon said...

damn I think I am going to have to shower and shave....cant be ruining the serenity with my forest and stink LOL

Shannon said...

Showered and shaved so we can now go to the place of serenity :)

Deb said...

Whew, smells better too ;)

We just returned from a vacation on the West Coast, and we camped (in tents!) for 2 night at Mt. Lassen National Park. Such beautiful, blue sky, much like the photo above.

Shannon said...

I am sure it does smell better :)

LMAO what would you camp in if you didnt have tents?

Robin in Montana said...

Lassen is very beautiful too. How did you like the west coast, Deb?

Lisa said...

I'm going to wear a long skirt and bonnet when we meet up in the picture. Does anyone have a sidesaddle I can borrow?

Lisa said...

"I'll bring the potato salad"

Please don't put mayo in it. Potato salad out in the heat will make me all nervous and then no one will have fun, trust me.

KaytieJ said...

Sorry Lisa - No sidesaddle and I lent out my chaps and spurs to Shannon. I'll bring my great gmas coleslaw (it's on the recipe page here). No mayo.

T@iy@ said...

Lisa- I'll also bring a cooler chock full of ice for just the potato salad to sit in. :) Because I like my recipe that has mayo. Shoot, I have a new car with cig lighter in the back. I'll bring a little camping fridge we can keep perishables in. :) I've got us hooked up.

Josh and Rya said...

Hey, Shannon, I'd like to drop you an email, but I'm having trouble when I click on your name.

Sandy said...

I think this calls for a different beer today. How about Hamm's? You know..."From the land of sky blue waters!" What do you think?

Or...should we make foo foo drinks? Let me know. I'll be sitting by Kaytie with the donuts.

Shannon said...

J&R my email is

shanabe09@yahoo.com

I will have to see what is up with my name thing

Shannon said...

Just got home from getting the stuff that was needed for Josh's bday .... gotta leave in a little bit again to get the house ready LOL

Shannon said...

And I just checked my profile and it was all blocked because of way back when, we were all being nerdish and changing our pics and profile names....this nerdish wonder forgot to put the stuff back.

T@iy@ said...

Sandy- I think we should go for the foo foo, today. Something breezy and chill...

suz said...

Uh I vote for Coors Sandy, rocky mountain water and all :D

KaytieJ said...

:::perking up::: Hamm's? I loved those commercials!

Taiya - We could put an umbrella in yours :-D

Erin said...

My step sister just got back from Yellowstone. So beautiful. Jill I have never been to the midwest either. And if I went on a picnic under this nice sky you could shave my eyebrows off, and draw on my face b/c I would be asleep the minute my ass hit the ground!!

PS- my son sleeps very deeply. He has had his armpit hair shaven, and numerous things drawn on him. Like the word 'butt' that he went to IHOP with on his forehead. Boys ::sigh::

Lisa said...

Hi all...man, it's quiet today. I feel sort of used, don't y'all. ;-)

I'm amusing myself on the Dodge site, building my dream truck. I do this periodically. Then I get sad when I see the price. I keep waiting for my midlife crisis to hit so I can justify it but so far all I've gotten is weight gain and a few hot flashes...

I think I'll go shave Erin's eyebrows off.

Lisa said...

Oh...ohhh...instead of a truck, I just built myself a Viper. VooDoo Edition.

*eyebrow twitch*

Lisa said...

And lastly, before I stop serial posting, did y'all see this story? http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/manhattan/reunion_with_amex_angel_dFCLsWzzXEj2mwhFn6g2IJ

Now look, even I have some limits and this crossed the line into stupid in my book. Even the homeless guy seems to sort of think so, but he's too polite to say it.

"She was really lucky it was me she ran into and not someone who would have stolen the card, Valentine said."

Erin said...

LisAP- could you go ahead and shave my legs too? Thanks tons :) Going to look at your story.

Lisa said...

Oh, Erin, I'd be delighted...you just don't know. :-D

Karen said...

Wow very slow here today huh?

Hmmm I don't have much to say either, now that I think about it! Beautiful picture! I'm worn out from packing, moving this weekend, well getting keys Sunday and moving the beginning of the week, but all involved in packing, and keeping a few grandsons during the day tomorrow just to make things interesting....

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Heather said...

I received an email regarding repayment of the money donated to Chris. If he did have a stroke, was in need and the money went to him-I have opted out of a refund. I believe the first two are true, not sure about the last. Any ideas? Surely Chris received some sort of help with therapy and meds right? I didn't know about his past then, but I gave freely and out of kindness. Am I wrong for not wanting the money back?

KaytieJ said...

Heather - You have every right to feel as you do, just as others have every right to feel as they do.

I can say I commend you for coming forward and stating your feelings. It's been a rough time for many that did donate. As well as a rough time for those that did not donate.

Trudy said...

Oh, Erin, I'd be delighted...you just don't know. :-D

Lisa Please step away from the razor. Erin RUN.

Margo said...

Heather - I don't think we'll ever know what really happened. I'm just sorry that this ugliness effected so many of us this week ♥

EandK said...

Just a thought about the refund, Heather. What if you took the refund and donated it to the site that Chris' mother administers. That way you could give freely and Chris will most surely have the benefit. I don't think you are wrong to want to give freely but I think it is important to make sure that Chris benefited from the giving freely. Whether I would give again or not is really about other feelings, so I admire your your position even though I am not that Buddhist in my position.

Erin said...

That is a good idea EandK.

Hi Trudy! :) Better for AP to shave my legs than my eyebrows I guess!

Lisa said...

'Morning!

Heather, there's not a thing wrong with how you feel about it. It's very nice, actually. I will say I like EandK's idea to make sure Chris actually get the benfit of it, though.

And Trudy, I'd never, ever hurt Mrs. Lutz...sheeesh!

Heather said...

Oh, I didn't realize that we could donate the returned money back to Chris's mom. Whoops. I'm hoping that the money went to his care, at least some of it. And I hate to admit that I will probably not donate as often or without knowing the person a bit more. Ugh.

But as we've decided in the end, we here and those at MWOP did the right thing. We can't be responsible for Elizabeth or Chris's past. The footwork was done as far as knowing that there was an actual medical crisis. The rest...you can't even make some of that stuff up it's so convoluted.

Lisa said...

Heather, that's the point I've reached, too...we can't be responsible for anyone but ourselves and our own actions. Anyone who wants to be mad at me or anyone else for putting Chris out there without somehow discovering his background can just have at it but the last time I checked, I'm not anyone's keeper. Before you (generic) give your money to anyone, do your own damn checking or accept what someone generally trustworthy says it is to the best of their ability to find out, but remember nothing is foolproof or sure on the internet and that the person telling you is human and could be wrong. *shrugs* I'll still help people when I can. I just know a few more ways to check things out now first, but still no guarantees.

Shannon said...

HERE HERE Lisa. Big reason why I put the whole no finger pointing in that last post. I am sorry but I have seen too many people who on one thing or another are all about pointing the fingers because SOMEONE ELSE didnt do the research. Shit this stuff was found out by freaking accident. Not one but two very intelligent women called and verified information that they had.

I gave to help. Granted I didnt give much as I dont have much but I wanted to help out. Maybe I am dumb and maybe I am stupid for wanting to help out other people but I wont blame people like Lisa or MWOP....they are not the people who deserve any of it, they just like me were trying to do a good thing.

NOTHING BUT LOVE FOR MWOP AND LISA!!!!

And good morning everyone

Muliebrity said...

IF, I get my money back, at the very least, I plan to give the amount I paid for Crafts for Chris to the Bay Area Food Pantry thingy Margaret alerted us to.

The more I find out about Liz, the less I believe the money we donated went to Chris. He may have indirectly benefited, but it sounds like his therapy and apartment were being paid for by his parents. She had churches doing benefits for her and Russ last year. She is a scam artist and IF we are able to get our money back, I plan to give mine to a worthy organization.

I do love your idea of giving the money back to his mom's trust, EandK. I know that I would have probably not given the money to begin with had I know of his sex offender status. Unfortunately, I was not given the choice to decide.

Chris has a loving and seemingly devoted family that he was convinced to separate himself from, so Liz and Russ could have a free place to live and a free car to drive. They had a free ride, PLUS they STOLE OUR money.

I am not at the same place you are Heather. I had way too many personal interactions that have clearly (to me, anyway) shown the depth of Liz's lies.

Muliebrity said...

AND, absolutely, nothing but love for Lisa and MWOP.

If she was able to scam as long as she did on these groups of people, then she has the potential to keep on scamming. Looks like she been at it for a while and even looks like she studies and learns from other nasty scammers.

Margo said...

Just stopping by to say hi. Nada going on at my house today. My DD is in the backyard picking grapes so I'm expecting a tummy ache any minute -like her mom, she doesn't know when to stop :)

Lisa said...

Thanks, Shannon, I think you're pretty terrific, too. :-) Live and learn, it's all any of us can do.

Lisa said...

Mulie, when I get my money back, that's where I plan on re-donating it to, as well. And thank you, too. :-)

Yum, grapes. Do you make jam and jelly?

Muliebrity said...

In all the "excitement" of late, I didn't get to show you all a recent blog post from out favorite single mother.

Muliebrity said...

You will always be my own personal idol in Jesus, AP! ;-)

Shannon said...

I hold out no hopes of getting any money returned. I havent even responded to the email because I am just really uneasy with having any contact like that with her.

If there were any money returned I would definitely re-donate it. Something that has stuck with me since the days of OHIH was the Random Acts of Kindness for Olivia....that was money that I could spare...doesnt happen often but I like that when I give it makes us all feel better as people.

Lisa said...

It's hard to be mad at someone who is just that genuinely stupid...lol, damn. I almost want to hug her. She's a pip, Rebekah is.

Muliebrity said...

And, Oh. My. Lord. Did you see what Melissa made today? Melissa, I love and hate you all at the same time! Those cupcakes look so yummy! I bet they are chock full of dairy and eggs though.

I know, right? She is a goof ball.

Lisa said...

Huh, I just realized I'd never followed Melissa's blog...fixed that. No wonder I miss stuff. I'm not even a fan of sweets and those look sooo good. But Melissa, they're all gone? Where'd they all go so fast?

Um, Mulie? I'm not so sure that came out quite the way you intended it to...

Lisa said...

...or maybe it did and you're just a sarcastic bitch. :-D

Muliebrity said...

"...or maybe it did and you're just a sarcastic bitch."

Can't deny that, but I think that did come out wrong. I wish my fingers would listen to my brain. I am not going to even attempt to say what I *thought I meant. lol

Margo said...

We don't make jam or jelly. The last few years they've been very bitter but this year they are good.

Good afternoon ladies :)

Do yall think it's safe to put the dish part of my crock pot in the oven? It doesn't say anything on the bottom of it and I googled but got mixed answers. It's ceramic, if that matters.

Shannon said...

Jeanette I have put mine in before with my old one...be aware though that if you do it very often it does shorten the live of the crock pot and it will eventually crack and break from the heat....also dont use the lid if there is any kind of plastic LOL....I have one that has an entirely glass lid and another that has plastic.

Lisa said...

Jeanette, straight from the Crock-Pot people, yes. Just not the lid, obviously.

"Can I put my stoneware in the oven or microwave?
Removable stoneware is ovenproof up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and microwave safe. Do not use removable stoneware on gas or electric burner or under broiler unless the product specifically calls out that it can be used on the stovetop."

Hermaphropdites and ADHD people have much in common, dontcha know.

Muliebrity said...

My first thought is that it would be fine, Janette. IDK, though.

Lisa said...

Lol, no second p in hermaphrodites, I know.

Muliebrity said...

I love that she is sharing her extensive knowledge regarding hermaphrodites. I don't think I've ever really had a conversation with friends about hermaphrodites, and here she is having several.

Lisa said...

In fairness to her, at least she is thinking about it all. That's more than a lot of people do, you know? But the information she's getting is terribly...well...wrong.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

When my sister was in nursing school, doing clinicals, she had to catheterize a hermaphrodite.

True story.

She also was in the ER when they called to say they were bringing in the victim of a skydiving accident. She was waiting for something really gruesome, but when they brought the guy in, it turned out that they brought in the guy who broke the skydiver's fall. Thanks to landing on this guy, the skydiver himself was fine.

Muliebrity said...

Have any of you ever read the book Middlesex? Everything I know about hermaphrodites I learned from that book. That book and several biology and anatomy classes. ;-)

Jennifer-Lynn said...

I have read Middlesex. Excellent book. Part of it was based on a true story (the latter part with the doctor):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Reimer

Jennifer-Lynn said...

I've also read As Nature Made Him, which was the book written about David Reimer. It's heartbreaking.

Margo said...

I think I saw him on a show about gender reassignment.

Jeanette said...

Thanks everyone! I never thought to go to the crock-pot website... blonde moment, lol. Thanks for looking it up Lisa.

Muliebrity said...

I haven't read As Nature Made Him, but I am familiar with the story of David Reimer. Isn't it difficult to believe that they thought they could just put him in a dress and therefor he was a girl? I should read the book.

Lisa said...

I loved Middlesex...excellent book but a sad, sad story. Stupid question here, but is catheterizing a hermaphrodite any different to catheterizing a non?

I've long believe there are no true males or females in this world. We all fall somewhere between those two points, having various physiological and biological differences. No one is right or wrong, we're just all as we're supposed to be. That idea upset a lot of people, I've discovered.

Lisa said...

No problem, Jeanette...whatcha making?

Muliebrity said...

I see it as a sexual/sexuality spectrum.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Lisa, I had actually wondered the same thing. Apparently, the urethra can be located in either organ or between the organs (depending on how developed they are), so you have to search around for it and that can be painful for the patient. The vaginal opening, for instance, can just be a pouch, like a dead end. Also, there's just the shock of cutting off someone's underwear to find both sexual organs.

Lisa said...

Mulie, I see it more as a gender spectrum.

BD, I just learned something new...I'll be damned. I did not know it could be located between the organs.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

I think it depends on the development and such of the organs. I could be misunderstanding her explanation; I know that she had to "find" the urethra in this patient, as they weren't coherent and may not have known where it was, anyway. She was working in the ER at the time. This was a while ago. I'll have to ask her about it the next time I talk to her.

Shannon said...

Lisa I agree it is a gender spectrum IMO. I dont know that it is how Mulie meant it but generally sexual/sexuality spectrum goes that would mean that it would have something to do with sex.

Personally I dont even see being straight/gay/transsexual/hermaphrodite/lesbian/bisexual as so much of a sexual thing I see it more as a chemical thing because in my opinion it is all a result of timing and amounts of certain chemicals released very early on in the uterus.

Muliebrity said...

"Mulie, I see it more as a gender spectrum."

I am not that schooled in the subject, but when is comes to males and females, the chromosomes don't lie. I know there are anomalies, but the majority of the population is either XX, or XY. Right?

Margo said...

Mulie - yes I think it would be difficult comprehending putting him in a dress and expecting him to be a girl but it was 40 years ago and the doctor was trying to convince everyone of his theories.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

When David Reimer was turned into a girl, the prevailing theory was that nurture was stronger than nature; that is, that the ideas we have about gender are learned, not innate. The reason doctors jumped all over this case is, in part, because Reimer had an identical twin brother who was not injured; therefore, they had a control and a variable. I have no doubt that the doctors really did believe that if it walked like a duck and talked like a duck and dressed like a duck it would in fact become a duck. It is hard for me to imagine, as well, that this would work, but I guess that's how far we've (generic) come from disproving that theory, for the most part.

Shannon said...

Mulie as I have seen it and how I believe it it isnt as black and white as XX and XY...I mean I totally totally totally get what you are saying.

I think one of the things that is starting to be investigated more with things is the levels of hormone that creates the XX and XY.

Please correct me if I am wrong but in the case of a hermaphrodite isnt it where something happens while the fetus is developing into either a male or a female that something goes wonkiie for lack of a better word and neither the male of female organ develops completely? Yet both actually make the attempt to form?

Shannon said...

My grandmother told me the story once about when her mother's friend came to visit with her little boy.....he was now in a dress. Apparently this little boy was 10 years old and had always been raised a boy even though he had both sets of genitalia. It wasnt until he was 10 that the doctors decided he was in fact a girl and my grandmother got to teach him/now her....that you could have fun and get dirty and play with bugs being a little girl too.

Muliebrity said...

Yeah, Shannon, I am just going off my biology 101 from 1997, and I am not really up to date on any new research or theories. Unless it's been in Reader's Digest, I have probably missed it.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Shannon, yes, that's more or less what happens. And of course, there are other genetic variants, such as Turner syndrome (X or partial XX) and Triple X syndrome.

I'm going to have to call my sister tonight and ask her about the hermaphrodite. I remember it unclearly, as she graduated nursing school while I was pregnant with Alanna, so this was at least 6 years ago. But I'm sure she remembers it very clearly.

Jeanette said...

I'm making roast, potatoes and carrots. I mix cream of mushroom with a packet of that Lipton onion soup mix and then put everything in and let it cook all day. Except this time I am making it to take to my grandparents, and I want it to cook faster because I don't want to wait and go there at dinner time, so I think I'm going to start it in my slow cooker in the morning then when I'm ready to go take the pot part with me and pop it in their oven to finish it off. I just needed to be sure that wouldn't hurt it, I love my crock-pot!

I don't have anything to add to the subject at hand, but it's an interesting read!

Jennifer-Lynn said...

My great grandmother lived down the street from George/Christine Jorgenson, who was the first well known transgender person.

That has nothing to do with hermaphrodites, I just thought it was interesting.

Holy run-on sentence Batman!

Deb said...

Hi ladies!

I just got my guilty pleasure in the mail, People magazine (Mark got it for me using airline miles that were about to expire, believe it or not).

Ahem. So, on the cover are the Duggars with the preemie baby Josie with the headline:

"We're Ready For More"

I wonder if they've consulted with their other children if *they are ready to raise another son/daughter, uh, I mean sibling.

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Deb, I read that last night. Unbelieveable.

Amy B said...

I know I am new posting here but have read for a while. Just wanted to stop in and say hello.
Long day with my son today but very hopeful tonight will be much better.
I wish someone would shave my legs..LOL

Jennifer-Lynn said...

Hey Amy.

Melissa said...

Lisa,

The yummy stuff is all gone because I made it for a book sale/bake sale at our church today. I'm wishing now that I would have kept a couple of cupcakes for us.

Lisa said...

"but the majority of the population is either XX, or XY. Right?"

Mulie, yes, but I don't think we've really scratched the surface of what truly makes up gender and/or sexuality. This is just a bit part that we do know but I don't believe it's in any way a true, defining factor so much as a starting marker signifying which end of the spectrum you began on at conception.

Hi, Amy B...nice to meet you. I'd offer to shane your legs but I don't know you that well yet. ;-)

Melissa, I'm so glad you had a logical explanation for all the sweets being gone. I was concerned for your family for a minute!

Amy B said...

how many post do I need before you THINK you know me well enough to offer to shave them? Just curious..lol

Muliebrity said...

Melissa, I am stuffing my face with blue berries right now, trying not to think of your cupcakes!

Shannon said...

LOL

Hello Amy it is good to see you again :)

Lisa is easy....I think she will shave everyone's legs

Love ya Lisa :D

Jeanette said...

We're having a thunderstorm here now... fml. The lights have blinked twice already. I live on a hill so all it takes is a strong wind to knock my power out. At least dinner is already over but I still need to do the dishes and bath the girls, which I'm afraid to do with the lightning going off. And... I'm a grown ass woman who is scared of thunder when it's dark outside.

Jeanette said...

Hi Amy! Nice to meet you. I was really impressed with the way you handled the messages with Chris the other day, you were very kind.

Lisa, how come you never offered to shave my legs?? I would have taken you up on it long ago!

Muliebrity said...

"but I don't think we've really scratched the surface..."

I think that's true of most everything in regards to genetics, so I don't disagree, I am just not sure there is currently evidence to support your theory. :D I do think we have just scratched the surface though.

Lisa said...

"how many post do I need before you THINK you know me well enough to offer to shave them? Just curious..lol"

This one might have done it...lol!
I sense the opportunity here for a small not-for-profit I'd really enjoy. Get in line, Jeanette.

"And... I'm a grown ass woman who is scared of thunder when it's dark outside."

Pish, as you'd say. It's just nature's own sonic boom, all perfectly logical. Or alternately, God is bowling. Take your pick. It's the lightning you need to worry about in either situation. :-D

"I am just not sure there is currently evidence to support your theory. :D"

Oh, yes, there is...millions and millions of people.

Muliebrity said...

You know, logically I know that...but the thunder freaks me out every time! Doesn't bother me through the day, just at night.

twirldawg said...

Lisa will you feed me mashed potatoes (hold the mayo) and shave my legs.
Oh, and I could use a hair tug too.

Muliebrity said...

Wanted to share a friends FB status:

At pointfest [Outdoor, all day Alt Rock festival sponsored by a radio station]. Flipping hot. And keep your damn sweaty bare flesh away from my water bottle, Mr. Shirtless sweaty zit, freckle, and hair spotted back. BLECK

It just made me laugh.

Jeanette said...

She might try to put ketchup in the mashed potatoes Jill. I'd be careful if I were you.

Jeanette said...

Haha, that made me laugh too Mulie!

Margo said...

Waving to Amy B. I'm not sure about shaving your legs but I'd like a double straw for your fruitie drink :)

Margo said...

My husband always said the Duggers wanted to get to 20 kids... crazy.

Margo said...

My body couldn't handle having one baby - go figure.

Shannon said...

I am gonna whine about the heat....Yes Lisa I know you have a heat index that is competing with Mercury today :). We have been at between 99 and 101 bouncing back and forth now for about 2 1/2 hours....I think I have lost about 20lbs in sweat in that time LOL

DAMMIT IT IS OREGON NOT FREAKING TEXAS!!!

Shannon said...

Margaret I am pretty sure that after #5 my husband would never touch me again. As weird as I think it is for them to have so many kids but then again if it works for them they do a damn good job of it :)

Margo said...

Shannon - is it humid too? That's the part I hate - feels like an old man breathing on you, lol. It was cool today and I think it's going to be cool tomorrow too.

Shannon said...

Thank God no it is not humid today...we are currently at 20%

That is how I know I could never live in a place like Florida the humidity likes to rise with the temperature

Lisa said...

That's it, I'm building a mashed potato and leg shaving stand. Free 'taters and shaves. We all benefit 'cause shaving legs? Um...yeah, it's fun...lol!

Mulie, you laugh at my millions of people comment but it's true. And people's bodies sure can vary when you have an open mind about things to the point you get to see them.
Did I say that?

Shannon, for as much as I whine about here, I have to admit that your heat is ungodly for where you are. Is this your hottest summer yet?

Deb said...

Shannon, I've been whining about how hot it has been here all summer, be my guest!

Welcome AmyB!

As much as I lovely girls, I honestly cannot fathom 19 of them. Plus, I think it' s just so unfair to their other children, in regard to the amount of individual attention you can give them.

Jeanette I am still afrai of the bigger storms in away, I just have to hide my fear for the kids.

Shannon said...

I think that this summer there have been more days over 95 then we have had in several years. Usually we get one or two perhaps but very rare to have more then 5...I think in the last two months at least 1/3 of them have been over 95. And it wouldnt be nearly so bad if it was consistent but dammit we get like 6 days of HOT and then we will have a week where it doesnt get over 85.

Lisa said...

Just for Shannon, the 9pm weather for where I live...a weather station about a mile from me.

83.1 °F
Scattered Clouds
Humidity: 85%
Dew Point: 78 °F
Wind: Calm
Wind Gust: 0.0 mph
Pressure: 29.93 in (Rising)
Heat Index: 93 °F

Lisa said...

Deb, have you been drinking?

Yeah, the inconsistency in weather will kill you. I think everyone has had their worst summer yet, though.

Muliebrity said...

"Mulie, you laugh at my millions of people comment but it's true."

I liked your answer. It really made me laugh out loud. I can't help thinking about the X-Men in the context of this conversation. Maybe because I am surround by tiny plastic replicas of X-Men?

"And people's bodies sure can vary when you have an open mind about things to the point you get to see them.
Did I say that?"

Wha, What?

Jeanette said...

Deb I try to play it cool too, and I actually just told Brookelyn Lisa's analogy: God is bowling. I'd never heard that before!

The humidity in Ohio is awful. Even when it's not super hot out, you can barely stay out there because you can't breathe. If I could, I'd move to Arizona. Heat I can handle, humidity I hate.

Muliebrity said...

Deb, Do you have the corgi, or is that EL? My dog is driving me batty. I can't keep him out from under my feet. It is obnoxious. I can't make a move without him.

twirldawg said...

Frankly I'm surprised Michelle Duggar's vagina hasn't fallen out.

Shannon said...

Hey Amy shared her CB site with me.....I have been reading it and let me tell you something not only is Philip an amazing young man but so arent you, his parents.

http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/philipbriggs/journal

I told you in my email you definitely remind me of someone I consider a good internet friend, who unfortunately lives rather close to me but we have not yet been able to meet, Dawn and her beautiful daughter Taylor.

Shannon said...

Oh and we have finally dropped below 90. It is too weird how it dropped 10+ degrees so fast, but at least now the melting will slow down a little bit LOL

Lisa said...

"I liked your answer. It really made me laugh out loud. I can't help thinking about the X-Men in the context of this conversation. Maybe because I am surround by tiny plastic replicas of X-Men?"

I have no clue since I'm ignorant about X-Men. Your boys must love them for that to pop to mind.

"Wha, What?"

Wha, what noting. I like *very androgynous women, running into fairly masculine...don't like girly girls at all. Before I was willing to admit the whole lesbian thing to myself, I aimed more to androgynous males since they came as close to girls as I was able to handle in my own head at the time. It's amazing the things you find when you start looking in these realms though, lol. And for the record, people are all built differently in one way or another so it's no big deal. So be it. And now we all also know I've slept around. I should get some type of bonus for this conversation.

Shannon said...

Unfortunately with that drop in temp the humidity has jumped up 15% LOL

And Lisa that is what our weather was like 2 days ago and is forcasted to be back there again in 3.

Shannon said...

HAHAHAHA though I consider myself to be straight I have been attracted to the same type of women in my life Lisa.

twirldawg said...

<--- Not Lisa's type.
Damn, there goes that.

Muliebrity said...

"And now we all also know I've slept around."

Oh, *that's what you meant. I was thinking underground scientific research or something. Oh, wait...

Actually, my husband is into all things comic book. You haven't seen any of the movies, Lisa?

Amy B said...

I already have been to sweet Taylor's page. I look forward to reading it . Thank you for sharing it with me. It is amazing how reading other stories can make me feel less alone.

Muliebrity said...

"HAHAHAHA though I consider myself to be straight I have been attracted to the same type of women in my life Lisa."

So true!

Amy B said...

So let me get this straight ...
You ladies shave each other legs? feed each other mashed potatoes? And if one is lucky they can share a straw in a fruity drink?

Wow. I have been missing out, huh?

Lisa said...

AmyB, I know you from somewhere! I recognized you and Philip immediately and then I went to your candle site and know it, too. I remember seeing it and not being able to order at the time, but then not being able to find it again when I was. Were you on OHIH?

Also, I feel the distinct need to treat myself tonight and am eying your candle packs. I'm confused...is this really what I'll get if I order the lavender/mint? Because this ain't lavender but I want the jasmine/sandalwood with mint lip balm if that's really what I'll get.

Lavender/Mint
Lavender (EO) Reformulated – A robust floral mix of jasmine with an undertone of sandalwood – rich and exotic

Help!

twirldawg said...

Amy the leg shaving is kind of new, but Lisa has been feeding me mashed potatoes for a while now.

After all the drama of this week I think we are a little loony tunes.

Amy B said...

I never went to OHIH.
I am almost afraid to say that Liz also posted my web page a few times on twitter. That was back when she was understanding how hard it was to have a family member with a stroke.

You will LOVE skinny dip...cool name huh?

I can make you a pamper pack with the scents you want. Do you want to do the candle Jasmine/sandalwood and the lip balm mint?

BTW that candle is a new scent and one of my favorites.

You can email me..

You should wonder about that, then, Shannon!

"<--- Not Lisa's type.
Damn, there goes that."

"Oh, *that's what you meant. I was thinking underground scientific research or something. Oh, wait..."

No, I just slept around. I own it. I'm not proud of it or anything, but it is what it is. I was confused, floundering and all over the damn place trying to find myself (translates to: not be a lesbian). Then I briefly dated a gay man in the same place I was and met his sister. That was all she wrote, literally. From then on, I knew...which is why I was painfully honest with the man I married long before I married him.

"Actually, my husband is into all things comic book. You haven't seen any of the movies, Lisa?"

I might have...Jake tends to have me watch things I enjoy well enough in the moment, then promptly forget.

Amy, you're close to me; I can tell from your email. I have no idea now where I've known you from but you live close to me and Melissa! Maybe Heather, too...not sure.

"Do you want to do the candle Jasmine/sandalwood and the lip balm mint?"

Yes, please. Lately I'm all into jasmine incense, plus I love sandalwood anything and I suspect this will have that same "feel" to it. I'll email you right now and thank you!

Amy B said...

Lisa..
You will LOVE it. I can get it mailed out Monday .

When you email me..tell me where you are from...who knows maybe we are neighbors? LOL

Amy B said...

Lisa..
So now that I know how close you are to me. What time should I stop by for my legs to be shaved? Ha

Lisa said...

Ordered. I'm so darn excited...I really wanted to treat myself tonight since I'm sort of in a lousy mood and to be able to get smell-good stuff and to help out another mom? Yay! I'm all sorts of happier now! Thank you, AmyB. :-)

Shannon said...

Well Lisa we all know about your addiction to yummy smells :)

Lisa said...

Oh, man, AmyB is close enough for me to really do it...I'm suddenly a little shy.

Shannon said...

LOL Lisa you crack me up lady.....I guess there is a difference of being all out there from behind the computer and another in real life.

I mean shit Dawn lives about a 30ish minute drive from me and we have yet to meet :)

Lisa said...

Shannon, I have the very same opinions here that I do and express in real life but I'm also a loner by choice. I'm not really shy and I don't hold back on what I think but I am quiet, polite and prefer my solitude. I'm both happy and panic-stricken by Amy, Melissa and Heather's proximities.

Jeanette said...

Lisa I remember you posting about the problems with your taxes that time and how you were so glad you answered the unexpected knock at the door, when usually you wouldn't have. I remember thinking it was so *you* to just sit and let a person knock away because they didn't bother to call first, lol.

KaytieJ said...

Hello AmyB! Hope you stick around. As Jill said, we are a bit loony tunes right now, but that is how it rolls. We wish you and your son the best!

Damn! I hate waiting...there are like 20 people standing in line for a Lisa shave! Sigh.

KaytieJ said...

And darn it all...I missed out on the genetic xx or xy talk earlier. There are so many variables of the genomes/chromosomes and then the activators and suppressors agents on the xx and xy that is still a source of much research.

Lisa said...

Katie, the chromosome talk hasn't ended...kick back, speak of it and let me shave. Trust me. *leers*

KaytieJ said...

Well since I am way back here in line, might as well speak to it. Not a Genetic Engineer, just so y'all know.

There are so many variables due to Dominant and Recessive traits. The old standard was that the female form was the default go to form. They are now finding suppressors and activators that work on the development of testes or ovaries.

I wish the US culture would recognize a third gender (that of the human being born with both sexes - complete or not). They did not ask to be born with this.

Isn't this fascinating? This last pregnancy I got the book, "You! Being Pregnant" (or something close to that title) by Dr Oz and Dr Roizen, and in it, they talk about how your child's make up, even things like eye color, can seriously be influenced by environmental factors. They really stress proper diet and health since they don't know what "turns on" certain genetic triggers. It was really interesting and unlike anything I have ever read in "What to Expect When You're Expecting."

Lisa said...

'Morning, all! It's a big day here today - I'm on roach patrol. I saw a big one in my utility room and that's too close for comfort. Blech. I know everyone is glad I shared that.

How's Sunday treatin' you?
