I fully agree about the email thing from Elisabeth to *someone. And I guess I don't really buy that she could get into MWOP and Twitter, but not Daisy, but what do I know? If nothing else, your local library has free internet access and she could have hopped on there to say *something. I didn't personally get used, because it smelled like a rat to me to begin with and I'm a suspicious hag that way, so it's all good, for me personally. The fact remains that they did both use a lot of people I do care about as my friends. I did try to talk back and forth with them at the beginning, but I guess since I wasn't funneling money to them they couldn't be bothered, because she never acknowledged one thing I ever said, either direclty to her or about anything else. Oh well.

So I guess this means you won't be contributing to the Muliette's Really Expensive Formula Fund, Robin?

Robin in Montana said...

Mulie -- Sadly, no. lol. I am a mean and miserable bitch when it comes to parting ways with my hard-earned cash. :)

I just never trust anyone who asks for money, whether it's out in the open begging, or hidden under the 'woe is me, how did this happen to *me/us' cloak, you know? And add in to that someone who refuses to help themselves because they don't wwwaaannnntttt to, like months of insisting on living in an obviously financially stressful situation with regard to housing, and you lose me even more, you know?

Random subject change/rant - I understand that it can be hard, time-consuming and expensive to buy a ratty house and then need to fix it up. I get why a house in that condition could conceivably look icky for awhile and I'm good with that as long as people obviously do a little here and there in the right direction. My own house was cotton candy pink with one green block, all peeling, for nearly 2 years after I bought it. But how in the holy fuck does a person buy a super-cute, freshly renovated inside and out, little house and within a month of moving in, have it trashed. Totally trashed. Blinds hanging, window boxes ripped partially off, the entire carport filled with garbage, a fucking horse trailer in their yard in a subdivision, buckets tossed about...why do people do this? And yes, this is my neighbor, lucky girl that I am. Every time I look over there, I get mad.

Muliebrity said...

I only ever bitch about my money woes here, because my parents are on FB and my mom gets her bi-polar disorder in an uproar if I talk about my "problems" in venues available to her. She feels like she failed as a parent blah, blah, blah. Since my sister is always in a daily financial crisis, I try not to add to my mother's neurosis. This is my "safe" place to bitch. This and twitter.

Muliebrity said...

Hmmmm, treasure to trash. Got me? You know *they always say it's a manifestation of some other sort of problem. Or, they are lazy.

Robin in Montana said...

I've never felt like you were asking for money in any way, though, Mulie. I think it's totally fine to bitch about problems you can't bitch about elsewhere, and God knows I've done more than my fair share of it here, too. Bitching and letting some stress out are different than asking for money from people who, once you've gotten that help from, you can't be bothered with, you know?

Lisa said...

I guess laziness. They have 5 kids and 2 adults in a 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath house that's about 800 square feet. Maybe, given that, they just gave up from the outset.

Lisa said...

Oh, crap, I didn't understand what Mulie was saying. Never, ever have I felt you were asking for money either, Mulie.

Muliebrity said...

I didn't think you were, but I just wanted to make it very clear I was just bitching, in case my one-handed, half brain typing got the better of me again.

<----------- is really using the Food Bank money to take myself to Starbucks

Robin in Montana said...

All right, I am outta here. My girls are gone and left a path of destruction in their wake, and the stupid laundry laid on the bed all day and did not fold itself. So irritating.

I have a casserole dish update on my blog if anyone is interested.

If it weren't large and glass, I'd suggest we do a Flat Stanley with my casserole dish.

Margaret - re: Fund M's Starbucks Addiction - you must be following the lead of some other people with M as one of their initials.

hi amy!

Amy said...

Hi Jill :)

How's your summer going? When does school start again? My little guy starts August 2...the summers just seem so short these days!

Amy said...

oooh...flat stanley project...with a christmas ornament, right? (see, I've not totally lost my mind yet!)

kristin said...

Hey ladies! Thought I would drop by! LM is out - this "big boy" class is wreaking havoc on him.

I need to get off my duff and do some laundry!

I'm sad I missed suz...if you come back on - hey Suz!

Shannon - glad to see you and glad M is doing well.

AP - how is Miss Arse? How is the boy?

HI Amy! missed you!

Trying to figure out if we are going to get hit by this storm or not. Need to figure out if I need to stock up.

twirldawg said...

School starts around aug 5/6. I'm doing the sahm thing though.

PJ said...

AMYYYYYYYYY!!!!

Amy said...

:D glad to be back, I've missed you all!

Jill, I am envious. I wish I could do that, but my kids would hate me. I'm not the most fun mom around...and they remind me every day.

CK...I just love that avatar.

Amy said...

AP have you cooked any tongue or other interesting parts lately? That is the best.food.blog.ev-ar. (imo)

Deb said...

Ugh, that angel, I get it now.
Hi Amy! Good to see you again!

Kristin - that is a long way off, lots of wiggle room with those storms. Obviously you know this, but I would just get the basics now. Do you have a storm kit already? I'm in the process of actually getting one for us now, just in case one of these decides to make a run at the East Coast again.

Amy said...

Hey Deb...yeah, I bet you do get it now ;)
Hope the girls are well!

twirldawg said...

Kristin is LM sleeping through the night now?

Amy I'm struggling with entertaining him without the tv.

kristin said...

Deb - I kinda do but not really.

I did check all the flashlights and lanterns to make sure they worked - one lantern does not but I have two and LM has his own little one.

Jill - he has his days. Sometimes he does - last night he fell asleep fairly early and woke up at 6:00. Two nights in a row he woke up in the middle of the night but normally he does sleep through.

How about your little guy? btw...He is a cutie, love seeing pics on FB. Love the bucket.

twirldawg said...

kristin thanks, he is entertaining for sure.
We are trying another round of potty training.

I made a chart and he gets a sticker for each time he goes. He went once today. It was a trickle and he tried really hard to convince me that he went peepee.

Deb said...

It's been good to see everyone here today, but I'm going to hit the sack.

Have a good night everyone!

Lisa said...

Amy! Ahhh, this is feeling like old times around here! How are you? And yes, I made beef cheek the other day. It was not successful. :-P

Kristin, hi! How's things and how is LM? We're good here, just passing the summer inside. Do you have anything laid in you can eat and drink if power goes out?

Lisa said...

'Night, Deb.

Huh, I winder is Shannon will be back to put another post up? I'll give it until morning if everyone is okay as is right now?

kristin said...

sorry AP - went to clean the closet and started jamming to the 80's, then LM woke up and was "a yittle bit hungry" so I fed him and gave him a shower.

I have some chef boy-r-dee, some tuna, spaghetti-o's, ramen, and gold fish. Luckily family lives nearby so we can group our food together.

I do need to get dog food and cat food though.

<-- day late and a dollar short, as always.

I make the gravy the same way as gusgirl: 2 tbsp butter, 2tbsp flour, 1 c. liquid. Melissa- sometimes mine does taste metallic in the cast iron skillet. I think it is b/c I have the heat up to high for the butter/flour part.

I am getting a storm kit together too. After the blizzard in the winter, week long water main break, and Isabel a few years ago, I am taking no chances. Target usually has a good deal on a 2 pack of flashlights, and they come *with batteries. Keeping them away from kids is the problem.

AMY!!! How are you? I think of you every day. Baby Alive has been banished to the back yard to live after she ate moon sand. Damn baby.

PJ said...

AP,
Your Tucker is a sweetie. Not normally a cat person here, but he has won me over.

Lisa said...

Aww, thank you, CK. He's the one who alerted us to the space heater that caught fire this past winter, too. Sweet, sweet boy. :-)

Gaaa, Kristin, thank you. I need to get a cat carrier tomorrow and forgot.

Be sure to put a bottle of plain Clorox (just a small one is fine) in your kits. 3 or 4 drops in a gallon of water sanitizes it enough to drink in a pinch. <--helpful tip lady

Deb said...

Good morning ladies! Busy day for day off of work, so I'll be scarce.

Here is the NOAA Emergency Preparedness Kit list.

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/HAW2/english/prepare/supply_kit.shtml

Like Erin alluded to above, it does not necessarily need to be a hurricane that you would be in trouble with.

Good idea w/the bleach too, AP. Don't forget that cat carrier!

Alright, off for a while. I hope everyone has a great day!

Margo said...

Hello ladies and germs. DD and I are headed to the beach for a few days so I'll be scarce. Between hurricanes and hot, hot, hot weather I hope everyone stays safe!
