More oil spill stuff...a theory.

Hi, all...Lisa (AP) here. I told Shannon that I'd throw an occasional new post up until she gets back and I'm announcing that so she gets no blame for the fact a Glenn Beck video is getting posted here. :-D Now, I know he rubs many people wrong, but this video? Is interesting *and factual...I checked before posting it. So, have we wondered why the oil spill has been allowed to rage on until a couple of days ago and even now, they're not sounding overly optimistic this is a real fix? We have wondered why the Jones Act has not been waived, why other countries who have been saying all along that they can cap this spill haven't been allowed to help us? Well, we DO have to ask ourselves why, don't we? Who stands to gain by the spill continuing, becasue someone gaining is the only logical answer, isn't it? Now, I'm not saying this is the reason but if anyone has a better one, please jump in and share it. PLEASE. Because this is the best and most logical reason I've found and it sickens me. Thoughts?

Well, shoot AP. Thanks a lot! If that doesn't bring me out of lurkdom.

I'm so mad about so many things I saw in this piece, I could spit. So let me get this straight. We are loaning money that we borrowed from another country (obviously seeing as our national debt is so deep we'll never get out of it in our lifetime), we loaned that money to a company that is going to do something the administration deems not responsible, the profits from said drills will be shared amongst big time stock holders (Soros) and the Brazilian people, Americans will buy this oil and barely a dime will be seen of it in the American economy, the administration added 2 entire paragraphs to a document *after it was given approval during a peer review, thus misleading the American public *and twisting the words of the people who signed the review, and the jobs and money lost in the gulf region during this time is staggering.

What a cluster! And I'm so disgusted.

Oh, and hi!

Margo said...

Hi Lindsay girl!

Here's what snopes had to say. When I see anything these days I read what the right has to say, what the left has to say and then assume the truth is somewhere in the middle. I don't trust our govt anymore - sad.

Lisa said...

Hi, Lindsay! And I agree that Beck put his own spin to certain things here, no question. He usually does. But in tghe end, certain facts remain the same...our government (as opposed to Obama signing an order) loaned that money for drilling. And while it's correct there were no Obama appointees on the bank board, Obama could have had this stopped and chose not to. It doesn't matter who appointed them, that being the case. We also don't know what transpired to cause the appointees to approve this since, while appointed by Bush, it was approved under Obama's presidency. I could go on and on since I'm *really shocked at Snopes on this one, but I'll just point out one more thing...it implies that EX-Im Bank isn't a government agency. No, it doesn't *dsay that but it's implied. Except their website is exim.GOV. So, no taxpayer dollars involved? How do they figure *that? Anyway...I'll hush. But now we may see why someone has a vested interest in drilling and oil ending in the Gulf, thereby forcing it all to move elsewhere (Brazil), don't we? And what better way that to allow this horrible thing to continue so that Americans all but beg for drilling to stop so this never happens again. Nifty how it works out, if so, isn't it? :-/

And totally unrelated, Margaret, I got my charm and ohhh, it's so pretty. I knew it would be but it's even prettier than I expected! Thank you so very much...I love it and everyone should get one! :-)

Margo said...

I'm so happy you like your charm, AP. I am going to send OUR first check to the Food Bank tomorrow :)

Lisa said...

That's so cool, what you're doing, Margaret. Thank you! I mean it about your charms, too...they really are very, very pretty! In your pictures, it almost looks like you can see the paper of the print but in person it really looks like it's part of the glass. :-)

Why am I still up?

Muliebrity said...

Good morning!

Lisa said...

'Morning, Nulie and all. Anyone have any big weekend plans?

Lisa said...

Mulie, I mean. Oh, it's going to be a long day.

Muliebrity said...

Morning. Think I am going to try and hit a few yard sales. Do you think donuts have dairy or egg in them?

twirldawg said...

Mulie I think doughnuts have both. Sorry :(

I've started the couch to 5k program. I'm on day 2 and my shins and lower back are killing me. But it's the only workout I can do with Richard. Just put him in the stroller and go.
I've gained about 20 lbs in the past year and something has got to give.

Muliebrity said...

That is awesome, Jill! Too many parts of my body have just enough bounce to make couch to 5k as horrible idea. I am thinking about doing P90X.

Lisa said...

Jill, good luck - it sounds like a good plan!
Any luck at the garage sales, Mulie?

I so need to get motivated to do MST (Many Small Things) around here that I've been putting off. I now have 2 cups of coffee and a diet Mt. Dew in me, am blasting old Pet Shop Boys and have done 3 loads of laundry, sorted out and re-alphabetized all my CDs and am turning an old sari into a front door curtain. I expect to crash very soon. :-D

Margo said...

Hello peoples. It's hot and humid here. Not much going on today.

Jill - way to go!

Mulie - how's the little one's tummy?

Shana said...

Hey ☼--> Like my attempt at a daisy? Yeah, I'm corny =0) How is everyone doing?

Lisa said...

Hi, Shana, how are you? The daisy is cute!

If anyone wants a good chuckle at my expense, I have a new blog post up.

Shana said...

Very interesting blog post AP. I'm impressed that you try so many different things. I love the cat in the casserole dish!

Margo said...

Waving to Shana!

I'm a little nervous to check out the cat in the casserole - is that like an anemonie pie?

Margo said...

Heavens AP - maybe it's not cheek from the face :) I put raisens in my Jiffy - yummy! Your cats are really cute. At home with their mama.

Shana said...

Lmao! It was ass cheek!

Margo said...

What's shakin in your world Shana?

Shana said...

Not a whole lot. Same ol' stuff. Hoping we get some rain in a few. I'm convinced we live in a bubble. It has been raining everywhere but here, ha! Trying to figure out what to feed the fam for dinner.

How is Miss H doing?

Shana said...

AP, how is your moms eye healing?

Margo said...

H is good - having a fun summer. We've not had much rain either and it's been really hot and humid (for us).

Lisa said...

Oh, my God, I never thought that it might be ass cheek. Dear God, I need to be more thoughtful if I'm going to continue experimenting. Or maybe I should give up cooking and write Lil Wayne after all. Beatrice is the house queen and house brat. She's my helper...if I bitch at one of the other cats, she runs and slaps them in the face for me, then struts back all proud. :-D

Raisins in cornbread? I'd have never thought of that but gosh, it would be good for breakfast with molasses on top! Or with pork. Yumn, thanks, Margaret!

Shana, I do love trying anything new...it's sort of a hobby. And Miss Arse is doing well now, still doing tons of drops and not able to bend over or lift, but she feels really good and is excited to get moving on the other surgeries! Thanks for asking. How are you feeling?

kristin said...

Hey Shana! How the heck are you?

AP - interesting, and I would've tried it too but I'm not big on fatty stuff. Love the cat and love the story about her hitting the other cats.

How is everyone? Hot, humid and sticky here. Got a good little nap in so all is good.

Shana said...

Hey Kristin *waving frantically*

I'm ok. I saw a pancreas/GI specialist yesterday & started some new meds. Now it's a waiting game & I'm just along for the ride. Thanks for asking!

Lisa said...

FFS, I'm so disgusted, I can't tell you. A down the street neighbor stopped by just now to see if I wanted any gardening tools she was giving away. I asked her why she was giving her tools away and she told me that she and her husband had made the decision to "give their house back to the bank" and had started cleaning out this weekend. Long story short, she and her husband both have good, secure jobs and they've got three kids (two under 4 and one about 9). Since they owe nearly double what their house is worth now, even though they can afford the payments without a big problem, they made the decision to "walk away from a bad and unfair investment" and rent a home her dad owns for far, far less than their mortgage payment. And the other "plus side" is that she can now be a stay at home mom. What the hell? She's damn excited about all of this...sees nothing in the world wrong or dishonest about it. Just the opposite, she seems proud they figure out how to accomplish everything they want. It's like JM all over again. What is wrong with people? Why have we lost nearly all moral sense in this country? Ugh...anyone want a glass of wine with me?

Lisa said...

Damn, Shana, anyone one has to see a specialist, they are not really okay. I"m awfully sorry and hope they can help you.

Kristin, stay in and nap in this weather. It's too hot to go out unless you just have to.

kristin said...

It's funny you say that AP b/c that is exactly what I did. Since LM decided to wake up before the butt crack of dawn (before 5:00) - we both had a nap, his longer than mine. It was nice.

Lisa said...

I think I'm headed that way myself. It's late to nap, but I'm very tired and cranky. A nap may help. And before 5 AM? I smell someone who needs a butt-busting. ;-)

Shana said...

Wow...that is what I call a screwed up view of reality. They are just going to "give it back" huh? Because they are just such nice people. They really appreciate the bank letting them live there for this long. They decided that they just can't accept such a nice gift. Pssshht! Whatever makes you feel better. That is asinine.

I agree about the specialist. I just don't ever know what to say! I had to go to the ER a few weeks back & when the doctor walked in & shook my hand & introduced himself, he said "Hi, I'm Dr. So n' So, how are you tonight?" I said, "Fine. How are you." Lol! I get asked several times a day "How are you today?" My answer is always, "I'm ok." It's just easier & more polite & my way of not complaining.

Holy Moley! Before 5 on a Saturday...YUCK!!

kristin said...

That is ridiculous AP! I swear (and I do) people have a screwed up view on things.

Shana - sorry about your health :(

Margo said...

Shana, I'm so sorry you're not feeling well.
I saw something yesterday that said the #1 lie people tell is "I'm fine".

AP, your neighbor - arg!!! I know the banks played a role in what's happened in this country but so did people like that. People know when they are living beyond their means. Then, those of us who live responsibly have to share in their debt.

Lisa said...

Shana, I guess you could always startle people by telling them the truth when they ask. ;-)

When she said "giving it back", that's *exactly how she sounded - like the bank should be grateful or something. This area is full of situations like this, though, and I really don't blame the banks at all. Yes, they offered a lot of creative and tempting financing back when the boom was happening but any reasonable adult knows what they can and cannot afford. And if they don't, it's still their fault. What we've got happening is banks selling these houses cheap to investors, current clients in good standing, who promptly rent them out, often taking Section 8. That's bringing in a class and type of people that bring a neighborhood down fast and lowers all of our property values even more. When people default, the long-range repercussions extend way beyond their own situations and off into innocent people like Margaret said. :-(

I'm in such a foul mood now.

Karen said...

Hi Daisy's! Been super busy getting things ready to have a yard sale next weekend, and have a few things for sale on Craigslist - but no offers yet on those - if they don't sell I'll just take them to my son's and try selling them at the yard sale! My 2 oldest grandsons have a birthday party tomorrow - Klaye is 8 and Tucker is 4. Got them matching super soaker water guns today - I can't wait til they get them, they will have alot of fun and keep cool playing with them I think! I've parked myself in the recliner and am having a hard time getting up to even get myself another cup of coffee! Its been so hot and humid - I think that it just sucks all the energy out of me!!

Giving your house back to the bank is just so irresponsible, I don't know how a reasonable adult couple think that is the the right thing to do. I just can't comprehend it!

Muliebrity said...

I did a blog post last week about the mortgage mess.

Lisa said...

Good morning!

Mulie, I went to read your post...interesting. I don't necessarily agree about blame when it comes to people making a bad decision and not doing their research before buying...I don't blame the banks at all for that...but I do blame the banks for allowing loans that they knew couldn't work long-term. As for the PMI funds, I know not all lenders were requiring that. Also, many lenders actually found a way to add the cost of the PMI into the actual house payment, which means it doesn't get paid if the buyer defaults. In the end, most people who have defaulted and had PMI never paid enough into the PMI fund to cover the cost of the loss on their property.

Did you like selling mortgages? When I worked for State Farm, I sold bank products too, as well as insurance. I never enjoyed mortgages at all but I know some really loved doing it.

Muliebrity said...

I looked like this yesterday at the grocery store!

http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/?page_id=9798&paged=3

Muliebrity said...

What I wrote was in defense of the people who got in over their heads, not dumb asses like your neighbors.

I just know a lot, A LOT, of people who were encouraged to borrow more then they could afford. They were not given the information about fixed interest loans. These brokers, loan officers and RE agents were greedy and unethical.

I worked in the industry and almost got taken. When we moved to MD, all the houses in the price range we thought we could afford were ghetto and small. Our agent said HER lender could get us in a higher priced house and my husband really wanted to that. We talked to that lender, but I could not figure out how they could do that. I spent years figuring income, DTI, and LTV, and when she told me what they could qualify us for, it didn't make sense to me. It wasn't until we got the paperwork 3 days later, that I finally saw they wanted to do an ARM loan. Ummm. Hell no. I know our RE did his to about 10 more people that we knew of.

Some people just don't know what their options are and many RE agents are just as uneducated or they are snakes, in it for an extra buck.

Lisa said...

"I looked like this yesterday at the grocery store!"

Lol, then you looked pretty damn good because I didn't see a lot wrong with that outfit.

And I know you were writing that in defense of consumers but I just can't defend those who walked into these loans. It's their responsibility and no one else's to know what they can afford. I've seen the paperwork they were doing and know the tactics - I've mentioned another friend here who walked into a 2 year ARM *and they used her child support as income. It was all right there in the (yes, very dry, long, boring) paperwork, but people like her were so damn intent on getting what they wanted right then and there that they stuck their heads in the sand and planned on dealing with it all later. Like in 2 years. Especially with the internet in our daily lives, there is no excuse, imo, for walking into one of those loans except that you chose to. No one else is to blame. If a person is so stupid as to sign something they don't read and/or understand that concerns the biggest purchase they may ever make in their lives and so stupid as to not have a real estate attorney look it over if they don't understand it, then it's on them. And if they did understand it and chose to do it anyway, like this friend I've talked about before, and just "fix" it all later, same thing. They can't blame someone for offering them a bad deal since the choice to take it or not, ultimately, is theirs. It's just another lack of personal responsibility, imo, for consumers to blame the lenders for their own poor choices.

You didn't notice her dragging the kid around on a leash?

Lisa said...

Oooooh, I think you linked to the wrong picture! No kid on a leash in this one...just a fairly fashionable transvestite.

Muliebrity said...

Actually, if it wasn't so wrong to call a 4 year old and ass hole, I would say Logan has been being on the past few days. She has been talking back like a lippy 7th grader! Today, he tried to put me in time-out and demanded that I tell him that I am sorry for not putting on a Godzilla movie. He basically threw every threat I've ever made to him, back in my face. I love him dearly, but it also taking everything I have not to clobber him.

Hunter is doing well at home, but has been acting inside when we go out it public and Logan encourages it by laughing.

Lisa said...

I never have been either but I think you've picked something you will never regret or grow tired of. That's a huge plus, right there. I'd love to have some done so I'm jealous! Be sure to post pictures when you get back and it'll be fine!

Lisa said...

Just spoke with Shannon via text...she's hoping to be back by Wednesday. Figured I'd pass it on. :-)

Jeanette said...

I don't have to leave the house for it! It's my neighbor and he's going to do it here in the next hour or so. Hey! If you come visit Jake in Ohio you can come spend a day with me and my neighbor can ink you up for a great price!

Jeanette said...

And AP, that's exactly why I picked the footprints. I have spent 6 months thinking about getting one and changing my mind about what to get. Then yesterday it just jumped out at me so I grabbed the baby books and scanned the footprints and printed out a copy for my neighbor. He said he could do it just like the real print, the same lines and all... so I'm going for it. They will be on the left side of my upper back, and one is a little higher than the other, like as if they are walking. Then the one that is higher(Brookelyn's) will have her name under it, and Ella's will have her name over it. The footprints are in black and gray shading, and the names will be bright pink!

Lisa said...

Okay, I'm back after a very late nap screwed my sleep up...Jeanette, did you get it done? It sounds adorable!

Jeanette said...

Haha, AP I just came here to let you know that I posted a pic on Facebook! I was hoping you'd still be up! I think I have a private page but if it is just add me as a friend!

RQD(Random Question) - why do you all think 1/2 of American marriages end in divorce?

PJ said...

One reason for some marriages: Because women no longer have to stay married in order to survive or support their children.

Muliebrity said...

I think people spend too much time online and striving to gain stuff.

Melissa said...

My take on the divorce rate? People want everything now. There are so many people looking for instant gratification in their marriages instead of wanting to stick through the rough times and work it out. It's more convenient to say "screw it, let's get divorced". It really makes me sad to hear that people aren't staying together anymore like they were 20 years ago. It seems to me that the people that have been married for 20 years or more are the minority.

Deb said...

Margaret - I think because it is easy to do now. and morals have gone way done in society, in general.

Good morning - off to see Jeanette's tat!

PJ said...

We're seeing lots of younger people who are more committed to their marriages than in previous generations - like REALLY committed - because they're parents got divorced and they don't want to go there.

But, if you go back historically, women couldn't divorce their asshat husbands because they needed them to support them. Can you imagine being stuck in a miserable, emotionally and/or physically abusive marriage and not be able to leave because you wouldn't survive. No job skills, the shame that came from divorce.

I guess I'd rather women have the power to leave a bad marriage rather than no power.

Lisa said...

Hey, I lost all my links in my reformat - can someone send me the link to Fellowship?

As for divorces, I'm agreeing with everyone else here. It's too easy, people expect instant gratification and perfection without work and when it doesn't happen, they don't try. They just walk away. Also, divorce has lost the stigma it once had, as CK said. While I'm glad for that to a degree, I also think maybe it's gone way too far and a little stigma attached wouldn't be a bad thing.

Muliebrity said...

So I don't understand what the motivation behind outing Valerie Plame Wilson was. Wouldn't outing a CIA operative be counter productive?

Lisa said...

Mulie, yes, it would be unless you had some personal motive that outweighed her productivity.

I'm running a little contest on my blog if anyone is interested. :-)

Margo said...

Mulie, are you reading her book?

Deb said...

Jeanette - wow, did it/does it still hurt?

Jeanette said...

You should be able to click on my name and go to Fellowship, but if not it's...

http://fellowshipwithushere.blogspot.com

I think yall are on to something with women being able to support themselves now unlike in the past. We have come along way even in just the last 30 years.

I also think people in general are so caught up with "being somebody" and trying to keep up with the Jones' that the focus isn't on family and making things work. I have a feeling there will be a lot of people from my generation sitting around in their 70's wondering why they have no one to come visit them or change their diapers, and they will wish they had worried more about taking their children out for icecream instead of trying to impress the neighborhood.

That's my 2 cents.

Lisa said...

Jeanette, I like how it looks like their feet are walking together! Very good idea. So, was it what you expected? Better, worse?

Jeanette said...

Do you mean the design or the actual process?

The design we had drawn out was a bit different, but when we went to apply the stencil we decided to make some changes. Other than the idea, I gave him free rein to do what he thought was best. I wanted the names in pink but he thought it would look better in black with a pink glow, and I think he was right. I absolutely love it.

The process was way better than I expected. I had myself so worked up I could have puked. It was a little uncomfortable when he was working at the top of my back where the skin gets tender, and then again at my shoulder blade, but in between those points it was actually quite relaxing! If I had drank a glass of wine beforehand I probably could have dozed off a bit ;)

Lisa said...

I meant the process. I figured you'd know what you were getting design-wise. :-) The black with a pink glow seems like a better idea, agree...the pink could fade into your skin in time. I'm glad it was easy for you, though. How long did it take him?

Deb said...

Well - I just received an envelope from Margaret's Etsy shop, the pelican pendants I ordered and they are absolutely adorable and beautiful!!!! I love them - one is actually for my sister.

Hi Daisys!!

Hahaha AP - Peeing like a Mule!

All is well in my world - just wanted to check in here! Shannon come back - we miss you!!

had a bday party this past weekend for two oldest grandsons - 8 and 4.

My son turns 28 on Wed.

I'm 48.

I told my 8 year old grandson that he and his dad are 20 years apart. I am 20 years older than my son, and 40 years older than my grandson. He said "oh"

LOL Guess I was more impressed with the random numbers thing than he was!! LOL

Muliebrity said...

I was not kidding about the amount of watermelon. In fact, I may have underestimated the amount.

There is a big storm rolling in right now. It is getting darker and darker and windy-er and windy-er.

Lisa said...

'Morning! Mulie, be safe in the storm!

Karen, just think, at 68 you'll be a great grandmother and it you make it to 88...

More eye doctor visits today. Fun, fun, fun.

Muliebrity said...

My coffee is so good today!

Margo said...

Good luck with the eye visits. I'm loving the middle names people are coming up with for Bea!

Mulie, I treated myself to a Dunkin iced coffee today - yum!

I missed KJ in the house :(

RQ - should I start some drama today just so we have something to talk about?

Melissa said...

Margaret-I vote yes for drama!

I miss KJ and Rim-hope all is well and you've just busy.

Muliebrity said...

"Mulie - I have heard Watermelon is a natural diuretic."

I think there is a good chance that is true. All the motrin I have been taking for this crazy neck-shoulder-arm-thing has been messing with the natural "flow" of things, so I was hoping that would help, but no such luck! I have been in so much pain the past few days, that I am seriously considering acupuncture and massage. My OB said I can take muscle relaxers if I need them, but they are largely untested in breastfeeding, so I have been reluctant. I am getting desperate though.

Deb said...

Good morning ladies!

AP - good luck with the dr. appointments today.

I've really got nothing else right now, I'm just tired from being a mom taxi.

Margo said...

Melissa - you want to beef with me :) Did you have your daughter's birthday party or is it coming up?

Margaret-We had it this weekend.

BTW Margaret-If I remember correctly you're in the DC area, is that right?

Margo said...

How was the party and did they like their favors? Yes, I live just outside DC in VA.

Melissa said...

The party went really well. My daughter said that it was "the best party ever". I ended up getting a bunch of stuff at the Dollar Tree and putting everything in to hot pink chinese take out boxes that I got from Walmart. We did lipgloss, little girl press on nails, gum, notepads with each girls first initial, some airheads candy and mini Reese's peanut butter cups. Plus each girl took home a pedicure kit that they had used the night before.

Margo said...

Nice! Did you make her a fancy cake?

Melissa said...

Margaret-Have you ever been to the DC Cupcakes place? I saw last night that they have a show on TLC (I think it was TLC-I was flipping through the channels so I can't remember) and thought of you.

Melissa said...

We did cupcakes for her sleepover and then the girls put whatever toppings they wanted on them. (we had gummy bears, sprinkles, red hots and a few other things)

I did do a cake for her "family" party that we had on Sunday. I wasn't happy with it but everyone else seemed to like it. I'm going to blog about it later on today sometime.

Margo said...

I have not been to their store but I heard it's super cute. There is also a new cupcake truck (like ice cream truck) that rides around DC. I'm going to make Deb's crab cupcakes for my mom's birthday next week. I'm not much of a baker but I figure I'll be ok.

Melissa said...

I was just curious-the one lady was really gettin' on my nerves but that could just be me. I love the idea of a cupcake truck.

Crab cupcakes? Interesting. I'm sure that you'll do fine!

Margo said...

Did anyone watch RHNJ last night - I missed it again.

Melissa said...

I've never purposely sat down to watch any of the RH stuff. I can't get in to it for whatever reason. Sorry, I'm not any help.

Margo said...

RHNJ is like a crappy novel - I'm 3/4 the way through and must finish it.

Melissa said...

Maybe if they had half naked dudes on there I could get in to it then. Like a Harlequin romance book but not.

Melissa said...

AP-Thinking of you and your eye doc appts-hope everything went as well as could be expected.

Melissa said...

Margaret-What's your email address? I've got a question for you that I want to ask you "off the record".

Margo said...

I just sent you an e-mail.

Margo said...

Nothing is as it seems... http://www.aolnews.com/surge-desk/article/why-would-bp-photoshop-its-crisis-command-center/19561136?ncid=webmail

Deb said...

Margaret - I'm afraid nothing is ever as it seems anymore.

Waiting for Mark's flight to arrive so we can pick him up.

Melissa - the party sounded great, and I'm sure the favors made the girls happy! Great ideas.

Lisa said...

Hi! Appointment went great for Miss Arse...he says her eye is looking great and reduced her drops by nearly half. Now it's only 9 a day! He's convinced her to have the corneal transplant surgery, too. She so badly wants to be able to read a book for fun again and he tells her she'll be able to with Dollar Tree reading glasses, just like any other 82 year old. She's sold. Went to get my new glasses and they weren't right...something is off with the prescription so hopefully it's not an omen of things to come with my mail-order glasses.

Melissa, that party sounds like a big success - I'm glad!

"RQ - should I start some drama today just so we have something to talk about?"

Oh, hell, yes. I'll even pay you.

I say they Photoshopped those 3 screens so no one knew they shut them down with photographers in the building. They showed something bad. Alternately, the original photo was Photoshopped to take out the ugly part, they realized it looks bad being blank, so the PSed other crap back into it.

Lisa said...

Does anyone have a good recipe for an authentic Asian egg roll? My mom used to have a Korean friend who would make the best ones *ever and give us a bunch but she died many years ago and I still remember how good they were. Wish I'd gotten her recipe. I know they had shrimp, pork and cabbage but that's all I remember and they were a world better than the frozen ones you get in the store. Anyone have a tried and true one they'd share?

Margo said...

Yea on a good report for Miss Arse!

Muliebrity said...

I bet SW would have a good recipe for egg rolls....

Lisa said...

She probably would, Mulie, but she's made it pretty obvious and clear she's not interested in many, if any, around here anymore, don't you think? I mean, let's call a spade a spade. No one is *that busy with work and all. I'll search for recipes with 5 stars first.

KaytieJ said...

AP - Great news about your mom's eye and her being able to go the next phase. What a relief for her. Can you return the online glasses if not right?

Melissa - I wanna go to your next girlie party! That sounded like SO much fun and perfect gifts for the girls.

What's up with Robin? Hope all is well.

I was out for awhile due to work stretch and just some stuff going on here - like NO water -(well pump went out). No biggie, pump is fixed and the animal troughs are full again.

Shannon - we miss you!

Deb said...

AP - I'm so glad Miss Arse had a good checkup! When would they do the transplant, soon? That would be *awesome!

We had some wild weather today, our area was under a tornado warning! Sent the kids to the basement while I watched the weather on the news and radar on line. It was pretty intense, but no tornado thankfully!

I am a picky eggroll eater. I only like one kind from a certain restaurant around here. Yes, I'm an eggroll snob.

Deb said...

Kaytie - Gah! No water?! What we take for granted, huh....

KaytieJ said...

AP - now you got me craving egg rolls. Korean food is so good. I'll hash the name, but bugalki is yummm!

At work some of the nurses bring in Lumpia. Heaven. They are a delicate eggroll from the Phillipines.

KaytieJ said...

Deb - I did not know that area got tornados and it freaked me out when I saw the weather alerts!

Deb said...

It is not "normal" for our area, but since this is the year of weird weather for us (blizzards, earthquake, and severe storm after storm), I'm going to start getting our preparedness kit ready for hurricanes!

KaytieJ said...

Oh Deb - you made me just remember a Vietnamese restaurant we went to in Georgetown. They had the best Vietnamese Egg Rolls there. (I know you aren't in DC).

Man - now that I have water back online, I need to cook something or I am going to just sit here and drool over the keyboard - LOL!

Deb said...

We are close enough, Kaytie!

Yeah, I need to get my butt off of here for a bit. Mark took the girls w/him to get his haircut. Kathryn said she wanted hers cut too, so my little girl may have a shorter doo when they get home!

KaytieJ said...

Deb - I think that is a good idea, seriously. I know I am not going to harp on my dh now for having lots of bottled water stocked up!

T@iy@ said...

Hi guys! i have a few kid-free moments. At least until Eeq gets hungry again. No water? Ugh! Hate that!

AP- no idea on the egg rolls.. So glad for Miss Arse, though! Woohoo! It'll be so great when she can read!

I didn't read very far up, sorry. Trying to catch up on some blogs and stuff, too. Hope everyone is doing well!

Muliebrity said...

KJ took the Lumpia suggestion right out of my mouth! If you have never tried them, you really need to. They have my favorite kind of wrapper on them, lite and crispy!

Lisa said...

Thanks for the ideas on eggrolls...it gives me some different names to Google for recipes. I don't have to have the exact ones my mom's friend used to make...I just want that good, homemade taste to some.

Kaytie, glad that water is back on. I'd rather have no power than no water.

Deb, you are having some weird, weird weather...glad this batch wasn't too eventful. I am very jealous of basements during storms since I don't have one. And how is her hair?

Someone needs to remove my TV before next week's Deadliest Catch since this tonight had me blubbering like an idiot. Damn Phil, going and dying like that...

Lisa said...

Oh, and...

::: waves at Tammi :::

Heh, I just gave a friend the link here and she has no clue about Anemone Pie. Fun times. :-D

Sandy said...

Hey all, popping in before I hit the bed. We have the sickies here. C's had a fever yesterday and this morning. Seems to be staying down tonight though.

::waving at everyone::

<---thinks Capt. Phil looked like Jesus when he was younger. LOL

Lisa said...

Sandy, I hope C. wakes up feeling good and yes, he did, didn't he? I didn't make that connection until just now, but you're right! His ex-wife has had too much surgery done, but for his boys, I'm glad she was on this show and being so nice. That was good for them but sad it seems he still loved her.

Sandy said...

Really when you think of it, how can you really sustain a marriage when your spouse is only home for three months out of the year. That would be some hard work.

Lisa said...

Sandy, that was how I actually managed to stay married for 10 years. :-D In fact, that would be something that would make me willing to consider being in a relationship again, if the other person was gone that much.

Margo said...

Good morning. Welcome friend of Lisa.

Deb said...

Good morning ladies!

AP - I see the Caribbean is brewing - got batteries? :D

Hey Margaret!

Robin in Montana said...

Good morning!

Tammi, I hope you're here!

Kaytie - if you meant me up above, I'm fine? Nothnig going on with me!

Melissa said...

Morinin' Daisies!

It's Wednesday so that means that Shannon may/will be back today, right? I miss her.

Kaytie-Everyone's welcome at my parties. I'll be sure to let you guys know about the next one in case anyone wants to take a road trip.
That stinks about having no water. I figured that your lack of posting was due to working. :(

AP-Sooo glad that Miss Arse's eye issues are improving. Hoping that you don't have any problems with your mail order glasses. Will you be able to return them if there's a problem?

Thanks everyone for the nice comments about the party/favors.

I second Margaret's welcome to Tammi.

Melissa said...

I missed you popping in RiM, so hi to you as well!

Robin in Montana said...

Hi back, Melissa. :-D

AP - did you ever find a recipe for Korean egg rolls?

Deb said...

Hey RiM & Melissa!

I hope Shannon returns soon!

Muliebrity said...

Good morning, all!

Melissa said...

Hey Mulie! How's Muliette been doing?

Lisa said...

Hi, hi!

Deb, I saw something brewing...they're saying we'll get heavy rain. Well, that ought to make for fun times with my leaky roof. I'll take it, though...this nearly 100 and no rain crap is killing me. I've lost my lawn, I think. It doesn't look like it'll come back well, if at all. And who needs stinkin' batteries? I've got candles and a crank up radio. ;-)

Robin, I did not get a recipe yet. Do you have one?

Sandy, how is C. today?

And if Shannon doesn't make it back today, I'll put a PayPal button up so we can all donate to get her a new one. :-D

Muliebrity said...

Muliette was seriously screaming throughout the night and morning. She is really refluxing and having tummy troubles. She slept 8 hours the night before. I really want to get her this pillow, since she can't lay flat.

Muliebrity said...

Have you seen the latest oil spill? US seafood inspectors better be doing their jobs!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/as_china_pipeline_explosion

Robin in Montana said...

AP - I don't have a recipe, no, but I've been looking since you mentioned it. Lots of really good-sounding recipes out there!

Melissa said...

AP-Your contest ends shortly, doesn't it? I'm interested to hear what the "real" answers are!

Melissa said...

Wow, Mulie. That Nap Nanny thing is pretty expensive-or is it just me that thinks so?

Lisa said...

Hey, last call if anyone wants to enter my contest for Margaret's pretties. It ends in less than 10 minutes!

Robin in Montana said...

Tammi says she can't get into the blog, AP. Any ideas?

Lisa said...

Melissa, great minds and all that. ;-)
I think the Nap Nanny is expensive, too. Mulie, call an upholstery shop and ask them if they can cut you a wedge of medium density foam. I'm sure they can and you could wedge it under her and accomplish the same thing for probably $10 or less! Poor baby, though, how miserable she must be.

The oil spill in China...why in the world were those people out *in it?

Robin in Montana said...

LLOL! Here is why I want Tammi on this blog. In a Facebook IM just now she says:

I alsmot went all SUsan Yates on the kids..but ith Liam being 6 ft tall now it was hard to keep him under...LOL

Muliebrity said...

The thing about the nap nanny is that I can resell it on ebay for about $80-$100 bucks when I am done using it, but I haven't gotten it yet because of the rather expensive price. There is a pack-in-play that has a reclining mat for around the same price. I have been putting her in the car seat, but studies have shown that it can reduce O2 levels and I don't like having her in it when I can not keep an eye on her.

Tammi said...

Hello!

Guess I should intro myself..I am Tammi, married a gazillion years, three boys and all that goes along with that.

Excited to meet everyone!

Hey there Robin and Lisa!!

Tammi said...

And yes I can spell....sheesh.

Lisa said...

Winners are up!

And now I'll tell y'all the truth about our newest little Daisy, Tammi. She's tall, blonde, conservative, Christian, shuns jeans that don't cost $100 or more and I secretly think she might be one of the Real Housewives of Orange County. She also aggravates the living hell out of me more times than not. That all said, I've decided to keep her, lol!

Margo said...

I'm not sure Tammi will fit in here - we never use irreverant humor :)

Mulie - I think the makers of the nap nanny came up with those 02 studies. Just put one of those neck holders around her hear so she doesn't slump over.

Robin in Montana said...

She does like to worship, though ...

Lisa said...

And drink. She drinks. *nods*

Margaret, I wanted to thank you again for what you're doing for that food bank and for letting me make you part of my contest. :-)

Melissa said...

Woo Hoo! I'm a weiner!

Mulie-I think that AP's idea is a good one for Muliette. It'd be worth looking in to.

Lisa said...

Mulie, I was just reading about the carseats and 02 levels. The problem is that in a car, the seats are required to be upright and it's that position that can cause a drop in 02 levels. The positioning of the baby causes its chest to compress, they claim. Of course, they're in that same position in slings and often while being held so yeah, I'm skeptical. Anyway, it appears that a car seat tilted back at home instead of in the upright, required position should be fine for her.

Margo said...

AP - right back at you!

RQ - do you think Shannon's power cord is really broke or is she in a Voodoo donut induced coma?

Margo said...

Melissa - I have a cupcake charm or like I said I'll make you a custom.

Lisa said...

Actually, Shannon is having a whole 'nother problem...something about her router and the port for it on her computer. Unless she's lying. That could be the case and it's all about the donuts.

Melissa said...

I sent you an email, Margaret. Thanks!

I wouldn't be surprised if Shannon and Kaytie were having secret Daisy meetings at the local VooDoo without the rest of us. :)

Margo said...

RR (random rumor) - it's all about the donuts!

Tammi said...

Stop hatin' on my jeans...it's all about the ass...and they make my non existant ass come alive! LOL

Lisa said...

My God, you make it sound like it tingles, Tammi.

So, what's for dinner, everyone?

Tammi said...

They do tingle...with delight!

Orange chicken over rice.

twirldawg said...

Ugh, been MIA. I'm in toddler hell.

Tammi said...

We've all been in toddler hell....so glad I am done with that!

Remember..oxycontin (sp?) washed down with Jack D...put in a bottle looks like iced tea....LOL

Robin gave me that..

Robin in Montana said...

I live to be helpful.

I don't know what's for dinner. So bored with everything.

twirldawg said...

Lol, I love that video.

Right now Richard is in bed. He should be napping, but instead he is meowing.

Red beans and rice for dinner tonight.

Robin in Montana said...

So Richard has moved on from the bucket on his head to animal noises, I see.

Lisa said...

Hey, Jill...is he doing the whole Terrible Twos thing? We could get you a *really big bucket.

Melissa said...

Roast and potatoes for dinner at our house.

I'd love some jeans to make my non-existent backside look nice.

Robin in Montana said...

Melissa - Tammi is your go-to girl for jeans advice. Just get out your pocketbook ... ::nods::

Melissa said...

That may be a problem then. I h.a.t.e spending money on clothes for me.

KaytieJ said...

Morning Daisy sniffers!

Welcome Tammi!

Robin - Of course it was about you :-D Glad to see you back. No one to whine to about having to unstack 400 bales of wet hay and let dry out in the sun. Grrrrrr...

Melissa - You're a weiner? About lost my coffee seeing that one!

Robin in Montana said...

Kaytie -- oh *no to the rained on hay! Crap! I think we are going to end up paying $150 a ton here this year.

Tammi said...

Thanks, Kaytie!

And yeah, I hate spending money on clothes...sputter, gag, cough...

Actually with the two older boys growing like weeds, they are dipping into my clothes fund! How dare they! LOL And my middle is like his mother...it's all my fault, I know...

Lisa said...

Kaytie, you and Tammi have actually "met" before. That time several years ago I accidentally included Kay on the email loop? Tammi, this is the same Kay and Kay, Tammi is part of that bunch. :-)

Lisa said...

I just had the rudest sales clerk at Walmart. I needed some paint mixed and it's a color match but I've had the same one matched before so I brought the lid in to make it easy. She looks at me all attitude-y and says "I *hate color matching." Well, do I look like I care? No, I do not. So I said "And I hate kimchee, but neither matter in this case." Bitch. Um, her, not me. :-D

KaytieJ said...

Oh! I do remember that AP! And so, Hello Again, Tammi!

Yuck to attitudy store clerks. So...what are you painting?

Tammi said...

Did ya bitch slap her? I have no patience for snippity clerks. Home Depot I tell ya...they are great for paint and matching. And the prices are about the same.

Lisa said...

First time I've ever had a rude salesclerk at Walmart that I can remember. Dumb bitch.

I'm repainting the outside of my house and using Walmart paint (had great luck with it in the past) to go over very expensive, supposedly very good Valspar Elastomeric paint that didn't hold up like I expected. It's like $13 a gallon so hey, it is what it is. :-)

Oh, Karen, I think you've asked me twice now and I keep forgetting to answer, but no, I can't return the glasses if they don't work out, unless it's a problem that is their fault. I got the new, corrected ones from the eye doctor today and they just reset the lenses...apparently they were set in crooked. I see better now. :-)

KaytieJ said...

AP - Kudos for seeing straight (ummmm...that did not sound so good, but you know what I mean) :-D

Anyhoo, hair appointment tomorrow. I am in the mood to go blonde...and short. For those that know me, this is a major event :-D

Lisa said...

Holy shit, Kaytie, are you really going to do it? That's brave but I think it might look good on you!

I've been reading at MWOP...I've got a real double rainbow picture I should post. Just to show off, you know. ;-)

Tammi said...

It's summer, cut it! :::says the woman who won't cut her hair::: LOL

And you can't go wrong being blonde :::hair toss::
