Found this one this morning....this should get AP's "BP" in a twist!!!

All I can really say is just wow and maybe even a big fat why? Maybe people who actually live in these areas could take some video and some photos and send them to Anderson since the news is currently banned from reporting the news. This oil spill just gets crazier and crazier and definitely is getting my consipiracy theorist mind running.

Watching that video, and hearing that information, made my physically ill. My stomach turns.

It completely unacceptable that this has been allowed to carry on they way it has. Do they think it will just get to be old news at some point? I have not heard one reasonable solution to capping this leak yet. They, BP and the Government, are up to something not so kosher.

I am DISGUSTED.

So the video of the day was actually going to be a cowboy hip hop lesson but unfortunately it appears to have been removed due to some violations.

That made me look for another video and of course when I see a title like "First Amendment Has been Suspended" you know I had to watch it. Then when I watch it and see that it is dealing with the oil spill you know I had to post it.

So I say once again since apparently our news casters and such in our country are no longer allowed to get within 65 feet of anything to do with the oil spill let's see if you can. If you can send the photos and footage to his blog and we will see if they pop up on his show :)

Deb I completely agree with you. I just dont get it do they just figure if the media isnt allowed to report the news that the people of not just the country but also the world will forget that it is happening? Is there some miracle that is coming that will appear and everything will be better?

Even watching Afther the Catch last night they guys were saying how the Mississippi Delta area is gone, it is done, the second largest area that produces seafood for our country is gone. And our government is hiding under the bed with BP for exactaly what reason???!!!

Shannon said...

And AP I am hoping that Miss Arse's surgery went well today. I am sure you are still waiting and of course then you will be needed to help her out but just wanted to let you know I was thinking about ya.

Sandy said...

Hey all! Shannon, this just pisses me off. I guess this administration is now definitely a dictatorship.

Shannon said...

I'm tellin ya it is time for the second Revolution!!! I am so sick and tired of Dem/Rep and people acting like there is any difference between them.....there isnt!!!! They are all about money and power, power and money, and the people of this country and our best interests dont mean jack.

Deb said...

Shannon - Those areas will never recover in our lifetime.

Shannon said...

Deb it is so heartbreaking because I dont think that enough people seem to realize that this is something that will affect generations to come. It isnt like they are just going to finish clean up and all will be well everything is contaminated now.

What is worse is that if they would have been much more on the ball would it have gotten to this point? Why in this day and age is there no better solution or prevention for something like this ever happening?

Muliebrity said...

Good video Shannon! I put in on FB. I don't normally watch these videos, but I made an exception on Anderson.

Shannon said...

I am glad you liked the video Mulie. I really like Anderson. He seems to really call it often like it is without political influences and such. He just calls it like it should be unbiased news.

I dont know if you watched After the Catch last night but the captains went on a tour in the beginning of June to see the effects of the devastation from the oil. The captain of the Wizard actually scooped some of it up that was on the shore and it was a learning experience for me. That stuff is freaking THICK. I dont know why but I thought it would be more like what you see with your motor oil, ya know thin and runny compared to that stuff. He described it as being the consistency of peanut butter.

Lisa said...

Hey, I'm back and Shannon, I haven't watched that video yet...I need to get some caffeine in me because I just know I'm going to get upset. :-P

Miss Arse's surgery went okay. Not great, not bad. She was under both a knife and a laser for over an hour - it turned out to be more complicated than they expected. The cataract had grown into her cornea, fused with it, and then calcified. He finally got it all off but what they'd warned her of being possible is what happened...her cornea is so damaged from both the fusing with the cataract and the removal of the cataract, that her vision isn't likely to be a lot better out of the eye. We knew this going into it, though, and she's okay about it. She's just glad the cataract is gone so she won't have more infections and pain. I felt bad for her, though, because the surgery hurt her a lot and she *wasn't expecting that. She also wasn't expecting an eye full of sutures, but that's what she's got. She came out damn-skippy happy and giggly and while that particular side-effect is worn off, she's doing good but for a bad headache she knows is normal. I'm going back over there later to unbandage her poor eye so if the sutures look cool, I'll take a picture of them!

Shannon, how's Mikala feeling? Hope everyone else is having good days!

Lisa said...

Ohhh, I watched it. Shannon, thank you for posting that. I *am so damn angry ,it makes me ill. In the words of someone we all knew and loved - why, why, why?

Why can't we see?

Why hasn't Obama waived the Jones Act?

Why are we giving the A Whale such a hard time when all they want to do is help?

Why have we never heard about this before now and why was it ever allowed to happen?
http://tinyurl.com/2cmf3kz

I didn't think it was possible to be more ashamed to be an American than when GWB was president but I think I might even moreso right now. The wars were bad enough and we continue with those and have added this mess to it. It's all shameful.

Shannon said...

I am sorry that the worst happened with Miss Arse I was so hoping that she would come out on the better side of expectations but at least like she said no more infections...that is a blessing!!!

Mikala is doing freaking awesome...I had to stop the girl from trying to help me with the kitchen LOL She hardly has any pain and is getting back into the normal swing of things it is great.

And AP I really hate to say it but I am feeling much like you right now. I never thought I could be so disappointed in an administration as I was with GWB but dammit all to hell Obama's is getting me to that point I was with W.

I almost feel like they are impeeding progress of the clean up for some unknown reason and I hate it.
There is no reason at all that things should be at such a stand still like they are. There is help available dammit TAKE IT!!!!

Margo said...

Sorry the news is not great, AP - I hope Miss Arse gets some relief from the surgery.

I think Anderson Cooper has done a great job of covering the oil spill. It's so sad what's happened to the gulf and our government's response.

KaytieJ said...

I'll have to watch the video tomorrow. Need coffee as AP said. From the comments here - it already makes me so sad and sick about the whole mess.

Shannon - Great news on Mikala doing so well so soon!

AP - That bites they could not get it completely fixed :-( You are right though, getting the cataract out is a huge step.

Deb said...

AP - I'm sorry about the damage to Miss Arse's cornea - it sucks. I'm glad they got the cataract out though, so at least she doesn't have to deal with that. Sending her a (hug) and you too, even if you don't hug.

I tried to find that video on CNN.com. Shannon, where was it buried? I know it's on youtube, but my sister is blocked from youtube at work, but can get to CNN.

Something is going on for sure. Fuckers.

Karen said...

AP sorry Miss Arse didn't have 100% success with the surgery, but it sounds like she did well with the anesthesia and hopefully she will heal well with no infection. Then will it be time for the other eye?

The video won't play for me for some reason, but this laptop is full to capacity and it just times it out... I guess I should be glad in a way since it sounds like its so depressing! Will try to watch it later on the other computer.

Did you all see that our favorite single mother was fired from her job?

Muliebrity said...

Hubby and I were listening to a piece the other day about Ben Franklin and his inventions. One of the contributers mentioned that Ben Franklin would have been the perfect person to solve this oil spill nonsense.

Shannon said...

I was watching a few minutes of CNN earlier and now they are not letting scientists in who are trying to do impact studies and such. It is freaking insane what are they going to do move everyone off of the gulf so that nobody can see what is happening? What are they tryng to hide?

Lisa said...

Catching up here in bits and pieces...we;ve had a slight run of teenage drama @@ - but Mulie, I've not been to our favorite single mother's site in ages. I'm kinda glad you shared that. Now I'll make my daily, inappropriate, un-PC comment: I've been an employer or in a position of hiring most of my adult life and in a several fields. A couple were very "office" professional, and one (trucking company and brokerage), not as much. And never, ever would I hire a single mother with no degree or at least without with extremely specialized experience. Ev-er. The more kids they have, the more evers you can add to that. And I say that sitting here as a single mother with no degree. Based on what I've read from this woman, she's pretty much a stereotypical "I'm doing the best I can so it has to be someone else's fault" person and this post backs it up. That said, I'm sorry she got fired. Now the rest of us will have to support all her kids again.

Ben Franklin, could have handled this catastrophe. For that matter, anyone could handle this matter if they don't have some personal thing at stake in it. Because it's just not that hard to say "Hey, World, we need help! Please!"

Thanks for all the good thoughts for Miss Arse. We took her bandage off tonight and I was a little freaked out to see a fair amount of blood...not that blood freaks me out but I somehow thought this was all going to be bloodless. Apparently not. We cleaned her up, started her new regimen of drops and she's going to have a hell of a shiner but it looks pretty good! Sadly, I cannot see her sutures so no pictures of them. She's so disappointed, though, that her vision is not really any better at all...even though she knew that would probably be the case, I guess she was hoping for a little miracle. As I think of it, I sort of was, too. On the plus side, she said that it all feels a whole lot better in her eye now. Lol, until we took her bandage off, she kept walking around saying "Arrrrr!" She also said she could see well enough to know I didn't straighten my hair today and while it was cute, it was still pretty fuzzy. Bitch.

Lisa said...

Goddammit, it ate an entire, long post.

Lisa said...

Oh, wait, there it is!

Lisa said...

While I'm serial posting, let me assure you all that I am literate and I do know how to punctuate properly. I'm just dead tired not running spell-check or anything. Sorry for all those typos.

Muliebrity said...

check twitter, AP. Elisabeth posted an update.

Muliebrity said...

Tell Miss Arse I have those audio books when ever she is ready!

Lisa said...

Karen, he said the second surgery will be in 6 weeks but we don't know if that will be her other eye (very routine cataract removal) or this same eye for a corneal lens transplant, if she decides to do it. She did confirm today that the lens would be man-made and not a donor one so she's good with doing it. I'm glad. :-)

Muliebrity said...

The irony of a donor lens would have been very apropos. ;-)

Muliebrity said...

Did you all see JM is in the hosp?

Lisa said...

Mulie, thanks so very much and I'll tell her but she's damned determined to read again. It's her big, main goal over driving, over everything. I hope she never has to take you up on it but thank you if she does. :-)

I went and read Elisabeth's update about Chris. I'm not sure what to say, to be honest. I'm sorry for them but most people know that SSI can be very, very hard to get, which is why so many people have to hire attorneys to get it. I won't pass judgment on that since I see both sides. But sine I'm opening my fingers and running with things tonight, I'll say this - I am very, very bothered by the fact that as soon as I begging for them, "selling" them, on here and as soon as I gave Daisy to Shannon, she stopped posting here. And that? Leads me, as much as I hate to say it, to believe the people of Daisy got used. Don't get me wrong, I totally believe Chris' story, this is no April Rose scam, but we got used, nonetheless. And yes, that's only my opinion, but funny how she's not been back since, isn't it? So, good luck to them. I don't much care right back.

Lisa said...

"The irony of a donor lens would have been very apropos. ;-)"

I know, right? But, in the end, she is my mother. She said she couldn't and wouldn't do it, if it was a donor. And that? Totally ruined Jake's plan to leer at her and hiss "cadaver eye!" at her.

JM in the hospital? Oh, color me all sorts of shocked, only not. That should bring her clicks back up.

Lisa said...

"that as soon as I begging for them"

Add the word "stopped" in there, please. I know I'm a mess with my typing tonight. I'm sorry.

Muliebrity said...

I can tell she is posting from her phone, so I assume her computer is still down. I hope OP didn't get used, but I can understand why you feel that way. I want to believe she just now has limited access on blogger right now. You did a good thing for Chris, so don't feel bad about that.

Muliebrity said...

I wish I knew what that teenager of yours was up to. Teenage drama is the best (as long as it's not your own teenager)!

Lisa said...

Mulie, I have zero regrets about what I did for Chris except that, frankly, it turned some people off since I said I'd never do that. I knew it would bother some, though, and decided it was worth it. In the end, that was a bad decision on my part, one I regret, since it accounts for some of the lost Daisies. Limited access or not, you can still email someone from your phone and give updates to relay. Or ask for their cell number, which she knows I'd have given (and might *have given, I can't recall) to text messages to be relayed. No, we got used and I was the method to do the using. Lesson learned.

Teenage drama? We have a Romeo and Juliet thing going on. Juliet pissed Romeo off badly and made him very, very sad, too, by obeying her parents' ridiculous directives. Many hard feelings ensued, mostly because they still love each other so emotions were high. Many weeks pass with no contact except indirect, through friends. And much emo-activity ensued. Cut to today. Juliet is with her family clear across the state and "steals" a family car to get to Romeo. Juliet gets caught. Romeo walks to the local grocery store to meet her to talk, not knowing the situation, that she is caught and just wondering why the hell she's trying to talk to him *now. Romeo's mother has an ESP moment, texts him and tells him to not get in that damn car because if she took it without permission, he might be charged as an accessory to auto theft since her folks hate him and he's 18 and she's not. Romeo texts back, saying he's just found out that's exactly what happened and he's headed back home to calm down after all this. So, the end of the drama? We've got two young adults who seem to genuinely love each other and want to be together, only one set of parents is being stupid and it ain't the set of parents I'm a part of.

Deb said...

Good morning - Hot, humid, and hazy here in this part of the US today. We need rain in a big way, it's been 3 weeks without any.

AP - darn it on no photos of Miss Arse stitches.
The teenage drama sounds heartbreaking. Poor Romeo.

Lisa said...

'Morning, all.

Deb, stay safe out there. This heat is dangerous. I can't remember, but do you have a/c? And I *know, I wanted to see eye stitches, too!

Hope everyone is doing well out there today.

Deb said...

Hi AP. I don't plan on being outside much, no worries! Yes, we have a/c in most of the house.

How is Miss Arse feeling this morning? Much pain?

Shannon said...

Morning ladies....so much excitement I missed by sleeping LOL

Now I have to ask is Elisabeth one and the same as My Brothers Keeper? If so then I am sorry but I cant buy not being able to access this site when I have checked MWOP and seen short novel posts there. I have no clue what is going on with them but I assume that there are still more SSI dramas.....anyone who knows anything about SSI knows they wait until you are nearly destitute before finally agreeing that maybe you need help.

Hope Miss Arse is feeling good this morning.

Morning Daisies.

A spin on the previous Organ Donor convo. I worked my ass for the last 3 nights to make sure there were not new Organ Donors.

Daisies gave from the heart for Chris, no shame in that.

It is poor form, though, to abandon those that give from the heart. And I am sure it is poor form to mention that.

AP - "Mom ESP' is real. Glad you listened to it and that your Romeo listened to it as well. Sucks that your ESP was right :-( Do Emo's accept hugs? If not, pass on an appropriate EMO salutation of hug for Romeo.

Is a man made body replacement part better than a God made or Nature Made (and freely given) body part? AP - You know I am not busting chops here on this thought,

Melissa said...

Kaytie-You pose a good question. I've always been of the mindset that I would donate my organs upon my expiration but after following the convo here the other day now I'm reconsidering. I can't say that I'm opposed to the idea. I just don't know.

If I may belatedly contribute to the do you want to be buried/cremated discussion-I think that I'd like to be buried. I know that I won't be here spiritually anymore but I can't wrap my head around burning myself up.

Lisa said...

Welllp, the eye checkup did not go well. He is not happy with how her eye looks today and basically upped the odds some of a transplant not even being possible. The goal at this point is to just get it to heal, period. My mom has always been a poor healer and this appears to be no exception. :-(

Kaytie, I'm not thrilled with *any transplanted parts and neither is she but just on a quirky "ick" level, I'd prefer a man-made part to a cadaver part. Better? No idea. Less icky, yep.

And I don't think it's necessarily poor form to mention how you feel used by someone in a public forum when that same forum was the means of the whole situation, you know? Shannon, I do believe it's the same Elisabeth, yes.

Melissa I'll take burning over worms in my orifices, thanyouverymuch!

Lisa said...

I am getting my first batch of raw goat's milk today, so I had to go scrounge up some glass containers for it. I wish I had more options then just Wally World. I just can't depend on K-Mart to have what I need or enough cashiers to let me buy it if they do have what I need.

Deb said...

Ugh, AP, I'm so, so sorry on the eye update. I hope she is handling all of this okay. I really hope there is success with her other eye, to compensate.

Melissa said...

AP-double ugh on the Ms. Arse update. Is she still pain-free?

Muliebrity said...

Why did they wait so long to do surgery on that eye of it was so bad, AP? Seems like they could have circumvented some of this.

Random check in.
Took a last minute trip out of town to get a big truck and my husband has been working all weekend to get it up and running. Richard had his first camping trip and we had a quiet 4th at home.

I also just had to unfriend my trashy sister-in-law on Facebook. I was tired of her shit.

Muliebrity said...

You will have that piece of trash SIL re-friended by the end of the day, Jill! How did Richard do camping? I really want to go on a family camping trip.

twirldawg said...

lol Mulie, I don't think so. She's on my husband's mom's side (his half sister) and I've never really liked her.

We were in my fil's camper at a KOA campground and that made the camping experience easy.

AP- Sorry about your mom not getting the results she *wanted. Sorry for Romeo, too. That's the pits. Glad he listened to you, though, and didn't get in the car. Yikes.

Mulie- how is that little Muliette doing? Growing like crazy?

Umm... not much up here. It's summer, so outside of feeding Eeq, playing with DD, gardening, canning, and sweating we aren't doing much. Mainly because that takes up about all of our time!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Taiya - Good to see you! Glad to hear from you and Mulie that the adorable Daisy babies are doing well!

Jill - wonderful news about your husband picking up a truck. And glad you all got to go and make it a family vacation.

AP - Dang - such disappointing news for your mom, but I do hope it heals up well and is not too painful.

And good call out on me for being Miss Manners this morning. A nice nap cured that - LOL!

So there is a blogger that I can't find. She lives on a farm and she had an awesome blog post on pasteurizing her own milk. She has goats, but she had gotten a cow that she was pasteurizing the milk from. What is her blog? I need it! I got my first raw goat's milk tonight!

Lisa said...

Hi, hi!

I've just dragged my ass today. I'm glad it's about over but it's nice seeing old faces back. :-)

Mulie, you asked why they waited so long with my mom? They didn't wait. *She did, over 25 years. When the family ophthalmologist began really bitching at her about it badly, she never went back - not to him or anyone else and that was maybe 15 years ago. We've all nagged and bitched at her over the years but she just wouldn't do it and, in fairness, none of us ever knew this could actually happen. Apparently it's fairly rare. But she'd doing good with no pain or anything, just the feeling of her eyeball being a little swollen that bugs her some but she says it still feels much better with that gone.

Jill, does R. love the big trucks? Jake was 3 when we started running them and he was always less than impressed...I guess the novelty wore off fast. I still love them. :-)

Lisa said...

Mulie, was that that My Sister's Farmhouse or something like that? The one that doesn't care for the Pioneer Woman and makes it known? I liked her. And Ree was on Mall Cops. Weird.

What are you going to do with the goat's milk?

Muliebrity said...

So she's had the cataracts for that long? A lady I used to work with did the same thing and when she finally had them removed, she kicked herself for waiting that long. I am being kind of the same way with my back and neck right now. I could go in and have injections, but after this surgery, I am in no mood to put myself up to be farther traumatized. I am trying to get my head in the right place to get them done.

Muliebrity said...

I found it. It's the chickens in the road blog. I saw PW on Mall Cops today too! I really like her, but can see why she would bug some people. I think she's cute and self deprecating.

Hunter drinks goat milk, but it is very expensive, so I found a private producer, but am leery of feeding the boys raw milk at their ages. Logan likes it too, but it's too expensive to let him drink it regularly.

Lisa said...

She's had them a good 25 years or more, so a very long time. Will the injections cure your problem or just alleviate pain?

Muliebrity said...

Alleviate the pain. I just want to get off these stupid pain pills. I am on an extremely low dose, but I got some very good advise from my first pain management doctor. Basically he told me that my problems are only going to get worse, so I will need these meds way more later then I do now. Makes sense, so I am very conservative with them. Plus, while they help with pain, they also "alter" my personality.

Lisa said...

Ahh, does Hunter have issues with cow's milk, then? I have to admit, I cannot stand Ree. Robin seems to find this fact terribly amusing, but she wore thin on my quickly quickly. I don't find her at all funny and, in fact, boring as hell. It just seems like it's the same stuff, over and over again. I stalked her once (okay, not really, but I was bored and some people were talking about her so I decided to dig in deep. Her family? Is shady. Their business practices and all, I mean. Many companies hiding behind other companies...a online pharmaceutical company tied in with some oil companies...weird stuff and lots of weirder dead ends and business failures. It just left me vaguely itchy and very uncomfortable.

Lisa said...

Have you tried acupuncture?

Muliebrity said...

I haven't tried acupuncture, but I probably need to. I did it when I was trying to induce labor with my first, but haven't gone back under the needle.

I looked some stuff up about PW too. Like I wanted to know her kids and husband's names (which promptly forgot) and found lots of interesting stuff. I just like to have a frame of reference when I'm reading a "big" blogger. So I could make sense of her big renovations by seeing, oh, hey, she's rich.

Muliebrity said...

Hunter was pooping blood at 5 weeks old because of the dairy in my diet and Logan had the same problems, but just not to the same extent. I had them on soy, but hate the phytoestrogens in soy for young kids and babies. Logan was able to transition to cow, but Hunter wasn't and was very under weight. I don't know why I didn't think of goat's milk sooner. Hunter gained 6 lbs and 4 inches in 9 months on it.

KaytieJ said...

Mulie - I know someone that raises championship goats and milks them for their own family's consumption. I'll ask them what they do to make it safe or pasteurize. Might take longer then you need for the info to get back to you, but would like to help. Also, check out your local farmer's market and ask people there that are selling it?

Melissa said...

AP-Hypothetical question: If someone was wanting to do a little of their own searching on certain bloggers-who will remain nameless-where would you suggest they begin?

Sorry, I have nothing to contribute to the goat milk conversation. Or any milk conversation for that matter. Milk and I aren't friends anymore.

Muliebrity said...

I would begin with Google, Melissa.

twirldawg said...

Melissa just start with Google. Sometimes you have to click A LOT.
Warning though, you'll get sucked in and the next thing you know you end up in some place like OHIH and yada yada yada. . .here I am.

Deb said...

Yada, yada, yada,

Good morning!

That is exactly how I hooked up with OHIH, googled MckMama haters, or something and there they were!

AP - we have what I call a Florida Sky today. Very humid, low tropical looking puffy clouds.

Melissa said...

Thanks ladies. Google and I are friendly. I was just curious if there were any factual places to look. I realize that people have their own opinions but I think I'm look more for hard evidence. I don't need another JM-like rabbit hole to fall down, you know?

Robin in Montana said...

Good morning all!

I don't find it amusing that you dislike Ree, AP. I tend to kind of be on the fence about her, and I do find the sketchy business history and dealings interesting, to say the least. Regardless of the fact that the ranch life she portrays is *anything but the reality for most of the rest of the ranching world, the pictures she posts of things like feeding cows, haying, branding, riding, all of that appeal to me on a personal level becuase I did all that and I do love that way of life.

I don't have anything to contribute to the goat milk conversation either, other than that everything goat, from goat milk to goat cheese, no matter what they've done with it, still has that ... I don't know what the word is ... sharp, acrid, bitter after taste that tastes exactly like goats smell if you're up close to them. I still like it, but that taste turns me off a little bit.

Lisa said...

'Morning! And Deb, I'll send you those skies every damn day if you like them. I want a good tropical storm.

Melissa, with PW, I started with Google and got a list of every close family member of hers I could find. Try to make sure you've got real names and not nicknames. From there, I both Googled each family member both singly and using certain "keywords" like "Ladd Drummond company" and then use words like bankruptcy, foreclosure, arrested, LLC, defendant, plaintiff, CEO, etc., instead of company. Try using just a first initial or along with a middle, if you know it. For example, "L. Drummond". I also looked up any public records in their area...the Clerk of Courts office for their county is a good place to start looking for those. Google the name and "arrest records", too. Dig into civil suits, property records, tax bases, etc. It's amazing the names you can find associated with someone by doing that. Any companies I found associated, I looked to their state's licensing and other public records, many of which are online. From those, you can see if a parent company is involved, who business partners are, etc. Just keep lists and keep digging based on a name here or there. Definitely make use of state and local public resources online, though. Property records, licensing, business permits, corporation filings, etc., looking for more names and info. Lol, I love researching but if you don't, it can try your patience.

Robin in Montana said...

Mulie - I thought of you and your blackberries yesterday. I found a recipe for chile blackberry syrup and one for a 'blackberry smash' cocktail recipe, and both sounded *so good!

And this, I totally understand. You should catch her book signing on Mall Cops, though...it was insane the people who turned out to see her.

Robin in Montana said...

The Mall Cops thing would have bugged me, just like every time I've ever seen her on any show like Bonnie Hunt or whatever. Bugged the ever-loving shit out of me when she was on the AOL welcome screen with the caption of something like, 'How the Pioneer Woman Decorates for the Fourth!' or whatever.

Melissa said...

Thank you, AP you were able to pick up what I was putting down with what I was trying to convey in my original question.

Up until I found OHIH I hadn't realized that what people were putting out there wasn't always the truth. Now, I find myself being more cautious and mentally picking apart everything I read. Which kind of saddens me that this is what life is coming to. I know people are concerned with keeping some things personal/private but you open yourself up to others scrutiny as soon as you hit publish. I guess that's why I try to not to say things online that I wouldn't be comfortable saying to someone face to face. I don't want to hide behind some online persona.

Sorry to go on about all that. I like PW. But if what AP says is true about her than I may reconsider my feelings.

Robin in Montana said...

Melissa - I don't know that you have to necessarily *dislike her, just like I dont dislike JM. It definitely gives you a different perception of the words they write, and like someone on MWOP posted recently about how they had always felt inferior to JM because she puts this picture out there of how perfect and "with it" she is, when the reality is just not so, it helps keep it in perspective that although they may *write that they are amazing, they aren't always so amazing in reality.

If you followed all that. lol.

Robin in Montana said...

And adding on to that, sometimes it's not that PW isn't telling the truth, she's just putting her own spin on it to put it in a favorable light for them. Case in point - the mustang horses they feed and take care of. She says how they take care of them and feed them for the BLM, which the way it's portrayed makes you think gosh, what a nice and noble and cool thing to do. What she *doesn't tell you is that the BLM pays them $2+ million a year to feed and take care of those horses. (A public record, that BLM contract is, and one of the things AP found) Still a cool thing to do, but once you realize how much they're being compensated for it, and very, very well, it's a different angle for sure.

Morning my dears

Melissa I am the same way that is one reason why a certain site really kind of ticked me off because they thought they were oooooooh so smart and sneaky posting information about me that I have openly said so many times. I am a very honest person and I have nothing to hide and personally have to laugh when someone tries to use my words against me, so long as they are not twisting my words or taking it out of context I will admit to it.

Melissa said...

RiM-I follow you. I didn't mean to imply that I wasn't going to "like" her (PW) anymore. Just that I would take what I read with a grain of salt. I saw that comment on MWOP and I have to agree. After reading JM's blog pre-Stellan I would feel like I wasn't a good mom because I wasn't "crunchy" and living an organic, wholesome lifestyle. JM's lies and manipulations finally got to be too much for me so I don't bother trying to keep up with her.

But, you're right. A written reality isn't an actual reality.

Melissa said...

Hey, if anyone wants to give me millions to feed and take care of their horses I'd be happy to do it. Or cows. Or dogs. Or just about any other animal. But that's me. I'd be the idiot to tell you-"Hey, guess what? So and so is paying me X dollars to do this," isn't that silly?"

Melissa said...

There I go with the wacky quotation marks, sorry.

Melissa said...

Sincer I'm serial posting anyway, what's on the agenda/menu for this weekend?

Shannon said...

My stepish daughter is having her birthday this weekend.....it is pretty bad because I am so irritated with her I dont even want to be here for it.

Next weekend will be fun because it is adults only camping trip.

Robin in Montana said...

Gosh, I'd love to have the setup to take those mustangs, but it's just not going to happen, lol.

And you're right, a written reality is not a reality in all cases. I do think that's a fine line in blogging, though, because while there are some blogs out there that *are very, very real and very raw ... sometimes you don't want to read that, you want fluff, you want to think someone has that fairy tale happy life and it's nice and fun to read, as long as you don't get sucked into thinking that your life therefore sucks because it isn't like their life.

For instance, I have pics on my blog of the view from my front and back door. Looks amazing, becasue it is. I do *not have pics of the rust stain on my metal roof from the woodstove pipe because that is *not amazing. lol.

Robin in Montana said...

The weekend here involves all four girls being here, and probably just mostly being at the lake. Going to be very hot for here.

Melissa said...

But you're rust stained roof would be earthy and all natural etc. :)

We've got heat in spades. I'm like Ap-I'd take a nice tropical storm and day over the heat.

Melissa said...

you're=your Geez!

Robin in Montana said...

Melissa -- good point! Everyone who *doesn't have a rust-stained roof sucks! lol.

Shannon said...

We have a mossy roof with grass in the gutters does that count?

Robin in Montana said...

Shannon -- Yes. Yes, it does.

Lisa said...

I have a leaky roof with mold on it...can I join in? ;-)

Melissa, Robin explained it perfectly with the Mustang example with PW...she isn't lying at all, but she's definitely putting a more altruistic spin on things. Just be aware of that, because I think most do that far more than out-and-out lying. Because it irks me, I tend to go overboard in the other direction, maybe. That is, when I even blog...lol.

Dinner tonight? Chicken and vegetable curry, probably with potatoes, broccoli, various squashes and eggplant. Couscous. Some type of chopped salad, maybe a parsley and cucumber one. This weekend will probably be leftovers unless I get off my ass and thaw the fun thing I have to try in the freezer. :-D I need to go to the store but I'm sitting here in my pajamas with an aspirin mask on my face, so I guess that isn't happening anytime soon.

Shannon said...

I hear the need for going to the store but no ambition to go....there is no longer any meat in my freezer. It is rather bare in fact. It has been so hot the last few days I have only purchased things that require little to no cooking....I do NOT cook when it is over 90 LOL.

Melissa said...

Couscous? I've heard of it but never tried it. Any good recipes/ways to cook it that you'd care to share?

Chicken-is what's for dinner at my house. I'm going to cook it with some red and yellow peppers and tomatoes with rice.

My roof isn't leaking but it has wasps making nests in it. Can I join Robin's club too?

Shannon said...

I am contemplating making pork burritos for dinner and slow cooking the pork but I just dont know....nothing sounds good at all so far.

I have determined that I am a total nerd. I have been watching the mini-series John Adams on HBO all day. I really do love history stuff.

Lisa said...

I think I'd panic a little if I had no meat in my house at all. And yes, I know that sounds very spoiled by world standards but it is what it is. ;-)

Wasps in roofs count, I'd think!
Couscous I usually cook in some type of broth but sometimes saffron and some raisins. It's like rice in that you can do most anything to it to flavor it. I think traditionally you're supposed to steam it but I just buy the boxes of Near East brand and put it in liquid like the box says. It's worth trying - Publix has them b1b1 every month or so.

Lisa said...

Oh, Shannon, I suspect the last thing you are is a nerd. :-D

Melissa said...

I think that I have a box in the pantry at home. Maybe I'll try that at some point this weekend. So, I could cook it in chicken broth if I'm serving chicken?

Lisa said...

Melissa, sure. Or just water and boullion (sp?) is fine if you don't have actual broth. Once you try it, you'll have a better feel for things you can do with it. You can add sauteed scallions, pine nuts, dried fruit, all sorts of spices...anything you like. It lends itself very, very well to Middle Eastern and African flavors, though. I'll be curious what you think.

Muliebrity said...

My roof is new and those cool architectural shingles. We need to think of a new club. One that I can join. Oh, and the house came like this, I had no part in making it look nice.

Lisa said...

Okay, I've never used orange juice, but this recipe is very similar to how I make it if I'm keeping my meat pretty simple.

http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Moroccan-Couscous/Detail.aspx

Melissa said...

Mulie-no worries. I'm sure there'll be other clubs that you can join. My roof is new too but for some reason the wasps really like making a home in it. We found a nest inside one of our a/c vents above the computer last night. I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of it before we're all getting stung in our sleep.

Muliebrity said...

Question for AP. This young lady just had brain surgery, so I am sure her head is shaved (or at least some part of it is). I want to send her a little something and I am thinking a hat. What the hell kind of hat can you wear in the Summer in FL? She might not be able to wear it out, but at least when she is seeing friends or something. I am looking on etsy.

http://onegirl-itjusttakesone.blogspot.com/

KaytieJ said...

I came here to get away from roof agony and what do I find. Roof Talk.
Our one inch thick moss on roof is now off.
The spray on Moss B Gone killed all the foliage in a 2 foot radius of my borders.

Roses - gone
Kitchen garden - gone
Blueberries - gone

Crap.

Mulie - a scarf works well too.

AP - What is the aspirin mask for?

Shannon said...

Oh Mulie that is a fabulous idea.

Shannon said...

Kaytie I guess I will not be using that stuff on my roof. We dont have any beautiful things like any kind of gardens going on but we have our bushes and such that I love and dont want to lose.

Melissa said...

Mulie-I'm also in Florida-near AP. I think that Kaytie's idea of a scarf is a good one.

Kaytie-Sorry to hear about your roof issues. That stinks that you lost your plants/flowers. :(

Muliebrity said...

I'm just not sure how into a scarf a 17 y/o will be, ya know? I will check etsy for scarves, since my imagination is failing.

KaytieJ said...

We usually use the granules, but they were no match for the moss this year, so hubby used the spray stuff. I just have zero motivation today to go dig it all out.

Melissa said...

With a scarf though she could tie it different ways to make life interesting. Or what about one of those fedora-type hats that some of the young girls are wearing now?

Muliebrity said...

So what about either one of these? This seller has more designs, but I am trying to think of what a teenager might like.

http://www.etsy.com/listing/44749377/spring-flowers-in-brown-head-wrap-hair

Lisa said...

Mulie, I'm with everyone else about a scarf. Hats are too, too hot here. You might try looking for a scarf/bandana that has a built-in fringe of hair on the sides and back, though. I've heard that's what Bret Michaels's is. If you really want to get her a hat, though, I'd say go straw or 100% cotton. Hey, how about one of those caps with ears on it, the anime-type ones...some teens still like those.

Muliebrity said...

There were some crocheted hats I liked, but just feel it's the wrong season. Maybe when the weather changes I'll get her a cute hat. They still don't know if it is cancer yet, so if it isn't, I hope her hair grows back quickly. I know she was really worried about her hair, but she admitted that she understood the big picture.

Lisa said...

Mulie, that scarf...mmmm...I have a bad feeling not. Sorry.
This style is something girls around here would wear but in less bright colors. http://www.etsy.com/listing/51157991/reversible-sun-hat-handmade-sunhat-sugar?ref=sr_gallery_18&ga_search_query=hats&ga_search_type=all&ga_page=3&order=&includes[]=tags&includes[]=title
It's got that vintage boho-chic look to it in style, though. Also, these, only not in fleece although I suppose the fleece could be nice in the hospital and they'd be a great conversation starter.

Lisa said...

"Roses - gone
Kitchen garden - gone
Blueberries - gone"

Oh, no! Kaytie, that makes me hurt to read...did you cry? I would have. Does he feel bad?

And the aspirin mask is great...take 12 cheapie aspirin, I get the Dollar Tree variety, and put them in a shot glass with literally 2-3 drps of water. You want the aspirin dissolved but still dry. Mix in a tablespoon or so of honey (raw is best but any works okay) or plain yogurt. Make a paste, it won't be a lot, apply and wear it for at least 30 minutes then shower. It really refines your skin and makes it much clearer. If you're having any issues, it'll help clear those up, too. Honey if it's aggravated, yogurt if it's dry seems to be the best bet. Try it!

Melissa said...

I liked a couple of the scarves that Mulie's etsy person had. But I would probably go for the head wrap thingies-in the even that she still has some hair it would look okay, imo.

The hat that AP found is cute.

But then again, who am I. I'm not a hat person. Well, I like hats on other people but the make my head too hot so I don't wear them. I like them in theory though.

I think that she'd be thankful no matter what you decide to get her, Mulie.

Muliebrity said...

She is super Christian. Do they wear skulls?

Lisa said...

Some do, Mulie, but that might be a risky though. Personally, knowing *this, I vote for the shark hat. :-D

It really is very nice of you to do for her.

KaytieJ said...

Oh I see what you are saying now. I was thinking eye mask - thought something was wrong with your sinuses or migraine or eye swelling.

I am going to try that now. With this sudden heat wave and working outside this morning I broke out in heat rash. Thank you!

I wanted to cry, but dh felt so bad. I am really going to miss fresh garlic, green onions, blue berries, sage, rosemary. Ah well, I can get that stuff at the store. I am trying not to look out the window where I am - seeing my favorite rose bushes all brown and droopy - will make me cry. We have a gorgeous nursery by us and so I can find replacements <---trying to be positive.

Melissa - I think I am going to make your m&m cookies. Might skip putting eggs in and just eat the dough out of the bowl.

Muliebrity said...

I really do like that hat though, AP. It is so cute. I just want to get her a little something. I can't imagine having to go through something like that and she is so young.

Muliebrity said...

Oprah is talking about Jonestown today. That was so horrible. 300 children.

KaytieJ said...

Mulie - Yes it is so hard to see young ones go through that. I hope so much the surgery was enough and she does not need to go through chemo. Another gift the teens love when in hospital is an iTunes gift card, they like to listen to music of their choice. And if they are really out, the parents get their players and play their songs for bits at a time depending on their neuro status.
It is very nice of you to get her something.

Muliebrity said...

That's a good idea too, Kaytie. That might be a better idea, as I can just get that from Wal-Greens. I know she likes music, because she puts lyrics on her blog every Sunday.

KaytieJ said...

Whichever way you go Mulie - she will really like it.

KaytieJ said...

AP - How refreshing! I did not have plain yogurt or honey and so I used sour cream. Thought about mayo but that is too greasy. The aspirin had a nice granular (exfoliant) effect. Hoping the aspiring soaks in a bit and gets rid of this headache, too :-D

Erin said...

Mulie- she said her lip is swollen, so they may have gone inthrough her nose. I think they operate on some tumors that way. If this was just a biopsy, she will only have a quarter sized bald spot. Maybe an itunes cardwould be good for now, and see how things go later.

Kaytie- i am so sorry for your garden stuff. Don't pull your roses up, just cut them down to the ground. See how they do next year. Since your weather has been so chilly, maybe you can find some herbs to plant still. :(

Melissa I like spaghetti sauce on cous cous. My husband thinks it is disgusting, but I swear it is not!

Margo said...

Oh no, Kaytie!

Now that I know AP's cyber sluthing ways I'm going to come clean - my name is not Margaret, it's Mark and I'm really a transvestite Marilyn Monroe impersonator from Cleveland :)

KaytieJ said...

Hey Erin and Margaret - good to see you and thanks!

Mark - You are so darned funny!

Robin - the fields are cut and ready for bailing. And so I will be driving truck and dh, son and his friends will be bucking bails tomorrow morning. Fun times!

Melissa said...

EL-Spaghetti sauce? I can't imagine that one. But I won't knock it until I try it.

Kaytie-Thank you for your kind words on my blog. Cookies make everything better!

AP_I tend to have oily skin-at least in my t-zone. Using honey/yogurt isn't going to make that worse, will it?

Lisa said...

"Now that I know AP's cyber sluthing ways I'm going to come clean - my name is not Margaret, it's Mark and I'm really a transvestite Marilyn Monroe impersonator from Cleveland :)"

Jake, is that you?

Melissa, it won't make it worse. The aspirin is salicylic acid, which is found in many acne and dandruff treatments...it's good for eczema and psoriasis, too. Stick with the honey, though, since the yogurt is supposed to be moisturizing. When I first tried it,the instructions said people prone to breakouts could break out worse the first time or two, since it draws out impurities, but to stick with it. You're supposed to do it twice or three times a weeks, I believe, but I usually just do one. Kaytie, I'm glad you tried it and yes, I forgot to mention the exfoliating part, but it does!

I'm sttruggling with the idea of spaghetti sauce on couscous, although there's no reason it won't work. It's really just fine pasta. I think I'd not like the texture, maybe. I put crushed pecans in mine tonight...yum!

Lisa said...

By the way, since I'm all about homemade beauty products tonight, if you use a dandruff shampoo like T-Sal or Dermarest, it's expensive. You can do the same thing by dissolving a few aspirin in a shot glass and adding some cheaper shampoo instead of the honey or yogurt. Mix it up good and you've got dandruff shampoo with salicylic acid for a fraction of the cost.

I swear, the yogurt tampons were not my idea.

Evening Daisys!! Two days in a row checking in here - looky at me!!

I went apartment shopping today - found a beautiful one with a balcony looking onto a wooded ravine! Soo pretty!

Lisa said...

Hey, Karen! So, you're moving? Are you staying in the same town and are you going to take this one? I have to say, that sounds really, really nice. Could you hang plants out there and is it big enough for a little table and chairs?

Karen said...

I'm locked into the lease at this apartment til the end of August then am moving, not 100% sure on this one, its in the same apartment complex I looked at a week ago - but a different building. The balcony is big enough for a nice table with 4 patio chairs and there is a shepards hook already out there for hanging plants. It had new carpet and tile - the one thing I didn't like was the green toilet, tub and sink.. felt like stepping into the 70's in that bathroom! But I could live with it I think. They only hold an apartment for 30 days and I don't want to commit to anything yet.... but its a very definate possibility! And yes its in the same general area, about 8 miles from where I am now, but only 4 miles from Ang and about 8 miles from Megan and Jaye.

KaytieJ said...

Back from the barn - too much testosterone out there right now - LOL!

AP - Thanks for the T-Sol tip! Another benefit to the Aspirin Masque is that it cleared up my headache :-D

Karen - Welcome back to Daisy!

Lisa said...

Kaytie, I think the headache thing was a fluke but I'm glad it's gone.

Karen, it sounds great and that green bathroom? Go with it and give it a garden theme. Green is good, it's an earth tone!

Karen said...

A garden theme - thats a cool idea! The balcony and new appliances were the real sellers, and the sink is just inside the bathroom door, then there is a 6" or so step UP to the toilet and tub... it was kinda cute!

Hi Kaytie, nice to see you here! I missed my Daisy friends! Now that I'm newly single I might have more time to spend in here, although the kids and grands are keeping me super busy!

Lisa said...

Ummm...newly single? Dare I ask? And I'm sorry.

Hang some ferns in that bathroom - they'll love the humidity. Find a tropically looking shower curtain and just go with it. Have a rain forest bathroom. :-)

Erin said...

AP- I swear the cous cous and sauce is not bad! I make my sauce with ground beef and sausage so it is chunkier, and I add parm too. It came from 'quick lunch' neccesity!

Karen the apt sounds great! There are so many cool shower curtains out there, you could get something that made the green look good.

Muliebrity said...

Karen, Did you say single? Did I miss something?

Kaytie, I thought for some reason you lived in the South, but now I think you live in the PNW. Where 'bouts do you live?

Karen said...

Yes newly single, as in since Wed.! It was my initiation but actually she agreed that we are better off friends, so we parted very amicably and she intends to visit and stay in touch, but she moved back to NY and I'm still here in OH.

I kill live indoor plants... just by being within 10 feet of them, but maybe the bathroom humidity would help with the watering! Wouldn't they need sunlight though?

I'm trying to think of that other stuff, not cous cous but something similar - its super healthy - sorta looks like cous cous, Oh this is gonna drive me crazy cause I just saw it at the store today and my mom asked if I ever had it - I have in NY from a deli - it was made into a salad and was soo good, but I wouldn't have any idea how to cook it so I didn't buy any. What the heck was that stuff???? arrggh!

KaytieJ said...

Erin - I love the idea of spaghetti sauce on couscous, will try that.

Karen - Glad to hear the newly single is what you wanted and I wish you the best!

KaytieJ said...

Mulie - I am in the PNW. I LOVE it that you thought I was from the South!

Muliebrity said...

I have no idea why I did, Kaytie. I think it's because I know you and AP are IRL friends and I thought you were familiar with SW's neck of the woods.

Karen said...

Erin - Hi!

I have a great recipe - I'll post it on the link tomorrow. It really just takes on the flavor of whatever you put with it.

Muliebrity said...

KaytieJ said...

Thirding the missing SW :-(

Stuffed from eating strawberry shortcake with ice cream. Hubby and I watching Whale Wars. Why does that show piss me off? I am sure it is not PC, Crunchy, Green or Whatever the term is to be saying that.

PJ said...

Sorry to post and run - it's almost midnite here.

Karen said...

YES Erin - Quinoa!! It was such a good salad, but it had a ton of fresh veggies and this great dressing and isn't Quinoa really healthy? I'd love to see a recipe about what to do with it CK - would it be a good "diet" type of food?

Awww Kaytie said ice cream... now I want some!

Karen said...

Night CK!

Lisa said...

I've never had quinoa but I love saying the word. I'd love a good recipe so I could try it!

Kaytie drives a tractor and is in love with an old 4x4 pickup. She might not be Southern geographically, but she she's Southern in her heart.

And I did not abuse SW, dammit.

Karen said...

I like saying Quinoa too!! I also like saying Chalupa - used to order them from Taco Bell - which I hate Taco Bell, but if we picked up from there, thats what I would get cause I like to say it!

KaytieJ said...

Mulie - AP and I have been friends for years. SW I just met here and have not been to her neck of the woods.

Lisa said...

I'm watching Whale Wars, too. I love it.

*shields self from Kaytie and hopes they blow the Shonan Maru 2 up*

Lisa said...

Karen, lol @ chalupa. It *is a good word, too.

Kaytie, since '97, if memory serves. :-)

KaytieJ said...

Y'all are killing me...no Quinoa around here :-(

Lisa said...

Kaytie, I bet you do. Top shelf where all the expensive, specialty rices and and grains are kept in most grocery stores. It comes in a box, like barley.

KaytieJ said...

Yep '97 :-D HooRah!

Arrrgggghhhhhh! I LOVE whales. I want them protected. Watching this show makes me a nervous wreck because I am afraid they WILL blow up the Shonan Maru 2 up and we are right back to Pearl Harbor days!

KaytieJ said...

Oh! I will have to look for it then. I thought it was a restaurant or fast food place! The town up from us has an authentic mexican grocery store (I think Quinoa is Mexican?) and I bet they have it there. Side note-I love that store, one of the few shopping trips I enjoy. All kinds of stuff that I have never seen before except in Baja Cali.

Karen said...

Night Daisys! Sleep well!

Margo said...

Good rainy morning ladies.

Lot's going on over here - Kaytie moved to the south and Karen is moving too!

I 4th missing SW!

I agree with Kaytie - I love whales and believe they should be protected but I think the Whale Wars people put human lives at risk with their nonsense ways. I would however like to go for a ride in that one very fast boat they have :)

I'm holding a little fundraiser for the families in the gulf - details on my blog. If you would blog, tweet about it that would make me happy :) And, if you don't like my stuff then consider making a donation directly to the Food Bank.

Hannah is making a list of fun things to do on a rainy day - I expect to be covered with glitter at some point today!

Erin said...

Thank goodness for the rain! We are finally getting some too. And a good soaking rain at that. The ground was as hard as a rock.

I 5th missing SW.

Melissa- I looked at your cakes last night. They are great! I *loved the shower one. So unique and elegant. Plus it looked like it tasted good too.

I am out of catfood, and my cats are acting like they are dying. All because they have not had foor in an hour.

Checking in fast on my way out the door - please, please don't anyone else buy Margaret's China Blue pendant. I collect old Blue Willow dishes and really want that! I'll buy it just as soon as I get home, Margaret. I'd do it now but have to set an account up, it says. This is such a great thing you're doing. :-))

Margo said...

AP - if it did sell I could always make you another one. And, if you don't wear necklaces I could make you a set of 4 magnets of 4 blue willow patterns. Did you know that George and Martha Washington used blue willow china?

Sandy said...

I 6th missing SW!

Lisa said...

Yay! I got it and Margaret, I have one pendant wear all the time but I like hooking pretties onto my purses and this one is going to get hooked on my favorite purse. Thanks, though! And no, I didn't know that about the Washingtons...that's really interesting. I just think it's so pretty. My Mammy collected it and when she died, my mom got hers. She was never a fan of it and I've been obsessed with it since I was a kid, so now I have it all. Every so often, I add a new piece in and it just makes me so darn happy. I feel like I just got a new piece right now, and to know it's going to help people with food? That's the best. :-)

Good deal alert: I found family packs of boneless, skinless chicken bresat at Walmart for $1.78 a pound. I've repacked them and they are huge, but fresh and with a good date. Melissa, I went to the store on the island, in case you wonder - I don't know about the others. Y'all probably ought to call and check your own first, unless you need to go to Walmart anyway, but that's a killer deal!

Melissa said...

That is a really awesome deal, AP. We go through lots of chicken breast-mainly because I only eat white meat. I'll have to check the Wally World closest to me and see if they have them as well. If not, I'll be going to the island to get them. Thanks for the heads up.

After thought-have you tried any of the meat/chicken from Aldi?

Margaret - I snagged the pelican pendant, thank you for what you are doing! I think the cause you chose is awesome too. Those families in the fishing / seafood industry will be hit hard for a long time. Families are relying on the food banks now more than ever in that area, and it's going to be a long time before they can.

I just read they have uncapped the oil now for the new cap, so it is gushing oil *full blast now. UUUUUGH!

Hey everyone! Sorry I've been absent, just so, so busy. I miss everyone, and SW too (I'm 7th? to miss her - always late to the game!)

I have been having horrible cramps for 2+ days now. These are worse than anything I felt while stuck on pitocin for 3 days. My 6 week postpartum check up is this week and I am going to start the mini pill tomorrow and hope that it helps. Blah.

I am still up. Ugh.

Deb, I saw that...suddenly, they are announcing they can fix this and will do so now but they have to uncap it to recap it. Um, okay, what changed...how can this suddenly be fixed? We shall see. And have fun this weekend!

Mulie, sorry to hear you're having such troubles...I hope it feels better quickly.

Melissa, I've bought meat from Aldi and have been very happy with everything I've bought there but for their canned baked beans. I honestly don't know why I don't go more often. They have good chocolate and chili bars there for under $2, too. Big bars. I'm not a huge fan of sweets but chocolate and chili? Love it.

Hi AP i'm still up too!

I love Aldi's but am cautious about their fresh meat - I had a bad pork chop experience there once. But they sell chicken breast tenderloins in big bags, flash frozen and separate and they are only $5.99 here and you get I think 10-12 pcs of meat. I use them for everthing that you can think of and can pull out one or two or use lots of them - they are the best - and I buy them every single time I go! I love Aldi!

AP - how is your Romeo? What happened with his Juliette?

went to a fair tonight with my kids and grands and my niece that is paralyzed from the chest down, that was ALOT of work - had a good time and am glad we went, but yikes, I should be sound asleep now, but apparently I'm not!

Karen, I've bought those flash frozen breasts, too. They are good for so many things. The only fresh meat I've bought at Aldi has been pork chops, so you just scared me but I think it can happen anywhere. I have bought bad whole chickens at both Publix and Walmart within the last 6 months and from Publix? Shocked the hell out of me.

We had serious Romeo and Juliet drama here tonight. That's why I'm up...upset and stressed. *sighs*

Karen said...

Awww poor Romeo he seems so

The pork chops weren't actually "bad" but there were 3 nice size nice looking chops on top and then under it were about 8-10 pieces of I dont' know what cut of pork that did not resemble chops and I felt like I was ripped off!! So no more fresh meat. Oh, I have bought ground beef before, as long as the date is good, but it seems like I always get there and the meat is only a day or two dated out and I never know how quickly I will use it, so I just get it at the Giant Eagle. We don't have a Publix here. Giant Eagle, Acme and some Walmarts, but not all carry food. Sounds like a great deal on the chicken at Walmart though!

OOPs - I was trying to think of the word to describe Romeo and skipped it to talk about meat, and forgot to fill in the blank. He seems so sensitive is what I was trying to say.. Was Juliette there at your house with Romeo? Or her parents butting in? Why do they object to contact between the two lovebirds? I am so sorry cause when your kids go through drama it causes major stress!!

Lisa said...

I'm seriously over the Romeo and Juliet thing, as of tonight. I love my kid fiercely and if he loves this girl, I do and will, too. But until she's 18 (October), I'm over it and don't want it brought into my house again.

Winn Dixie tends to do the mystery chops in family packs here...I'm never that comfortable with those, either.

Karen said...

No Winn Dixie here either! I like to be able to identify my meat at all times, if they call it a pork chop I want it to look like a pork chop. I did buy some really nice looking country style pork ribs at Aldi just this week, but haven't tried them yet. I want to make that pulled pork that I had at the fair tonight, it was SOOO good!

Lisa said...

Lol, I actually liked how you left it open-ended, Karen. It worked better than you realized. Her parents brought her here to leave her tonight because she insisted...something neither of us here anticipated. I honestly have no clue what is going on. I just know that I've had enough drama in my life in the past to cover a lifetime and I have no place for it anymore.

Lisa said...

Are you going to crockpot those ribs?

Karen said...

Yep! I love my crockpot and its too hot to cook in the oven! I think I'll do them tomorrow cause I plan on going through my garage and sorting things out - going to have a yard sale and need to start sorting things that I will be moving and things to sell. My 2 older grandson's bday party is next weekend so the following weekend I am planning to have a sale. I have a few things that I think I'll put on craigslist and then if they don't sell they'll go to the yard sale too. So it will be nice to have something to eat when I'm done!

Lisa said...

Yep, crockpots feel like having someone cooking for you, don't they? You walk in and someone has cooked dinner for you. Can't beat that. :-) And it sounds like you're getting ready for a move!

AP - Oh man! Long day and sorry I am late. You have had enough drama for a lifetime. Those parents brought here there? With their (the parent's) history, I would be done, too.

Karen said...

Yep - hope to be out of this apartment and into another before the end of August! My lease will be up August 30 and I need to find something cheaper and probably a one bedroom. So I will need to downsize, which is good timing because Megan will be moving within the next few months and doesn't have much, so what I don't sell I will give her to keep for when she moves. I have a couch, loveseat and recliner (rocking recliner that I love!!) and also a futon, and a smaller living room will not hold all of that so I have to figure out what pieces I will keep. The futon is in the spare room right now - but I will have to keep it and probably put it in the living room in my new apartment cause when my kids come visit and/or spend the night I need something for them to sleep on. I don't care what I have to give up - as long as its not my rocker/recliner!

You know, I looked at this heartbroken and angry couple in front of me, regardless of the fact I don't agree with anything they've done, and felt for them. I looked my my heartbroken and angry son and they are all coming from such different places that yet all are about the girl sitting in the grass, crying, that they all love. And somehow, it sort of fell on me to make the decisions as to what was going to happen. That? Pisses me off, I won't kid you.

Karen said...

What is the short version of the issues with the angry parents of Juliette? (if you want to share) I hate being put in the middle of anything, and if it has to do with angry parents, a sad and angry son of my own, and a crying girl in my grass, and I have to make things right... I would be pissed too!
