Happy Easter!

***Edited to add that I finally re-loaned our Kiva fund and was lucky enough to find 2 groups that just struck me as people we should help and both groups only needed one more loan to get them to their goal amount!  A two-fer of help...how cool is that?  :-)  So, down there to the right, I have the new information up so we can watch their progress!   Also, if anyone wants to help on their own, for a limited time Kiva is allowing existing members to offer an invitation to new members, and it includes $25 to lend!  You can sign up using this link:  Kiva - You're invited to Join Kiva  and just know I get nothing for this, nor does this blog. Kiva is doing it solely to get new lenders to join, so give it a shot and help someone out!***

If no one minds, I think we'll skip church again and go Easter hunting with Roobii.

So I had this huge comment written out and blogger ate it. I'm too tired to do it tonight so I'll rewrite it tomorrow night.

For now, Happy Easter! I hope you all enjoy your day! and Roobii ^^ sure is pretty.

Mama P, I hate that. Fill us in tomorrow and have a wonderful day with your family. :-)

Lisa, I'm shocked that you skipped church on Easter Sunday! (J/K) I skipped it too - I haven't attended church in a long time and I'm okay with that.

We survived and actually enjoyed Easter though. Since my son passed on April 10, 10 years ago now, the time around Easter can be difficult. But this year, my other two sons and their S/O's were here.

Older son grilled chicken and steak and vegetables. I made my fat potato fat fat (what I call it since it contains cream cheese, butter AND half and half), fruit salad and rolls. And coconut cream pie from the grocery. We had a great time and I am thankful! Hope everyone here also had a great Easter or Sunday, as the case may be.

Still waiting (doubt if you remember but this has been going on a long time) to see if the merger between the 2 NC power companies goes through. We've been waiting for over a year now. Stressful! I won't name the names but if you're at all interested, you can Google it. I work for the one in Raleigh and I will likely be laid off if it goes through. We'll see.

Other than all that, it's life as usual around here. I did have to buy a new(ish) computer when mine crashed. I no longer have my old bookmarks. Lisa, would you mind posting the link to your blog? I always liked reading what you were up to.

Ummm...sorry...mighty long post. "Hey" to everybody - especially Shannon - not sure who else is around from the OHIH days. I meant what I said about Jake, Lisa. Let me know if he needs anything I can help him with. jaea6188(at)gmail(dot)com.

Catch y'all later!

Jae said...

Duh...never mind about posting your blog link, Lisa. I just realized that the link under your name goes to your blog. It's early yet.

Jae said...

Duh again. It does NOT go to your blog. I give up! Guess I'd best go take a shower and get some coffee. Could you email me the link if you'd rather not post it? I promise I'm gone now!

Lisa said...

Jae, I, too, haven't been in a church for years...not for services, anyway. I do like watching Billy Graham and Carlton Pearson when I can find them, though. I reckon that counts. ;-)

My blog is...well...dead. I decided to revamp it months ago and seriously blog again, then got stuck on the layout because I'm anal as hell. The old one can be found here, though: www.anemonepie(dot)blogspot(dot)com I may grit my teeth, throw some layout on and call it done, though, just so I can rant again. ;-)

I'm glad to hear your sons and families could come and you had a good Easter, despite it being such a hard time. Families mean everything, don't they? And your fat potato fat fat has be curious...is it mashed potatoes? All I know is, I want some!

God, I hope you aren't laid off. There's just too much of that happening these days and it seems to be happening to everyone. I'll have my fingers crossed the news turns good for you. Have you been there long enough for retirement to be at all possible, at least?

Alright, going to try this again.

"Then we're going to take the kids to Bass Pro to see the Easter Bunny."

This just cracked me up!

I wonder how many people are cringing, reading about the guns and thinking about the kids. "

We're Bass Pro frequenters, it's an added bonus they actually do free pictures at Easter and Christmas.

I never really stop to think what others might think when we say we have guns. We never lie about it either, even the pediatrician asks. We have a gun safe downstairs and 1 up. The ammo is kept separate but easily accessible for us, we're a shoot first ask questions later type of family.

I may catch flack for this but as soon as we feel our kids are old enough we're going to teach them to shoot, teach them everything we can about guns and gun safety. I would rather them know how to use them, and be able to rather than never being allowed near them, get curious and try messing with them.

Anonymous said...

"My blog is...well...dead."

Mine too, I keep saying I'm going to start it back up, but to be perfectly honest I just been doing other stuff, like laying on my couch instead.

Lisa said...

You won't catch flack from me, Mama P. I was raised with *loaded guns in the house and so was Jake. Because he was the only child I had in the house and because we were taught well, I never worried about unloading unless he was having a sleepover or something. I was raised with guns de-mystified and respected; so was he. I've had a concealed permit for many years and, frankly, don't think he's ready for that, only because he has too many people around him that I don't think should be trusted with any gun he's responsible for. He agrees and doesn't plan on owning one anytime soon. And that? Tells me he's responsible with them.

Jill said...

It's pretty much a given around here that there is a gun in the house. I used to have my own gun but we sold it to pay some bills. My husband has the same philosophy as you Lisa, you train children the proper way to use guns and how to respect them early.

I quit blogging years ago. I just use Facebook and Twitter for the things I used to blog about. Besides I'm a terrible writer. I've downloaded a trainscript of my Facebook so now I just need to scrapbook most of it.

Lisa said...

Jill, I think a lot of people, particularly in the south, raise their kids this way. It seems to work fine, too.

I wish I could do as you do and use FB and Twitter, but I have family who are sensitive to certain opinions I have and things I do, so I use FB to be a somewhat compliant family member and want my blog for reality, if that makes sense?

Anonymous said...

We have guns. Lots of guns.Probably 30 or 40. All of the guns in the house are loaded, because what's the point if they aren't? We live in the country, and everyone has them. We also have 2 gun safes, and my husband and I both have concealed carry permits.
Our kids will definitely be taught gun safety, etc, but we do put them up when we have a babysitter.
I was raised that way, and so was my husband. We target shoot, but don't hunt, and let me just say I'm a good shot :)
Mama P: sounds like we have a lot in common.

Saw today they formally charged Zimmerman with 2nd degree murder, I'm curious to see if the trial will be public and what evidence they have.

StringOfRandomLetters said...

Mama P, to me it looks like an incident that people will never agree on.

Lisa said...

Mama P, I've been having a big FB conversation about this...I think it's so wrong he was charged and I think they only did it to appease some people. I truly do think he'll be found not guilty, as he should be, based on what we know now. I'm the first to admit I could change my mind based on new evidence, but on what we know *now? I think it's so very sad he was charged. I also feel very sad for Martin's parents, though, especially his mom, who seems like such a sweet and nice lady.

Shannon said...

I think he should have been charged with something....two months ago and not 2nd degree murder. They did do it just to appease some people and that is wrong. They want to keep from having LA happen in Sanford....well what happens if this goes to trial and the jury finds the same way that I feel....he may have been guilty of something but nothing in the realm of what they are charging him with? What happens if he is found innocent?

I think his parents just really wanted acknowledgment over the fact that their son was unarmed and killed and wanted something.....I think it got out of control and has gone farther then they expected it would.

kate said...

"but on what we know *now? I think it's so very sad he was charged."

That is the part where I just can't follow your reasoning.
What we know:

- Zimmerman followed Martin; mental state of mind: 'these assholes always get away'
- There was an altercation between Zimmerman and Martin that turned physical; fatal
- Zimmerman had prior offenses for violence against strangers, girlfriend, police
- Zimmerman was caught lying to police on night in question
- Zimmerman was not injured enough to have bloodstained clothes or receive even a band-aid from EMT
- Zimmerman was armed, Martin was not and the whole squabble went down in what officials call a 'ONE MINUTE GAP'.

Everything else is based on Zimmerman's statement. Whose interest it is to not go to prison. Who was already proven to be a liar.

What is the problem with being prosecuted for second degree murder here?
His actions were not justified even by the ridiculously minimal requirements of 'stand your ground', thus he should stand trial.
Let him prove in court, based on evidence and sworn-in witnesses that he didn't just murder somebody but acted in self-defense. That should have happened all along.

The only scandal I see is that Martin's parents had to raise hell in order to have anybody look at the case at all.

Lisa said...

Shannon, I still stand firm that based on what we know to be factual right now, there is simply nothing to arrest him *for. Now, could that change with new evidence we haven't seen yet? It could and I freely admit that. I also admit new evidence could well cause me to change my mind yet again on this. I'm really not being closed minded at all; just the opposite, I'm keeping an open mind.

Kate, there are so many things wrong with what you've said here, I'll just go down the list.

- Zimmerman followed Martin; mental state of mind: 'these assholes always get away'

***And? They'd had a rash of crime in the community, most of the perpatrator5s getting away. that would be frustrating as hell in any community, but especially if you live in a gated one, where you bought in thinking there would be at least a slightly higher degree of safety from crime. I think many, many people would express this sentiment in his shoes. I know I would have.

- There was an altercation between Zimmerman and Martin that turned physical; fatal

***Absolutely. And while always sad, it is not always grounds for an arrest, nor does it mean the one who killed the other is at fault.

- Zimmerman had prior offenses for violence against strangers, girlfriend, police

****Not exactly. Unless you have some info I do not (and please tell me where to find it, if you do!) he had one prior arrest for battery on a law enforcement officer in which the charges were dropped. Turns out, plain clothes cops had stopped a friend of his at a bar and no one realized they were cops, initially. The friend thought a couple of guys were trying to grab him and he fought to be free. Zimmerman came to his friend's defense and also tried to fight the guys off who he believed were attacking his friend. This has been verified by most everyone as being what happened that night, and as I said, the charges were dropped. The other arrest I can find was resisting arrest without violence, same date, so apparently he was charged with both resisting with violence and without violence. Charges were dropped on that one, too. As for domestic violence, he was never arrested for such, nor was his ex-girlfriend. He and an ex-girlfriend both filed for *civil domestic violence protective orders against the other, both were granted, the story ended. It does look like he had a couple of traffic violations, too, though. And my source for clarifying the actual charges and outcomes for you? The county public records. Can't get more reliable that that. :-)

- Zimmerman was caught lying to police on night in question
*** First I've heard of this...what did he lie about? Not saying he didn't...this is one of those things I'd like to know.

- Zimmerman was not injured enough to have bloodstained clothes or receive even a band-aid from EMT
*** He was wearing a red and black fleece jacket so I think expecting to see blood on that while it would still be wet is asking pretty much for the impossible. He was definitely cleaned up of his own blood at the scene by paramedics and refused further help. There's a police tape that clearly shows marks on the back of his head and, if you compare shots of his nose prior to that night with shots of his nose on that tape, a very swollen nose.

Lisa said...

- Zimmerman was armed, Martin was not and the whole squabble went down in what officials call a 'ONE MINUTE GAP'.
*** And? it on;y means it hasn't been released, not that it doesn't exist. And what happens in that gap could cause me to change my mind. I keep saying that. There's an eyewitness who was outside, very close to them and on the phone with 911, who knew neither party and tells 911 that the guy in the hoodie is on top of the guy in the red sweater, beating his head on the ground and the guy in the red sweater is screaming for help. The eyewitness is scared so he runs back to his own home but before he gets inside, he hears a pop and goes back down while still on the phone to 911. We do get some of that gap filled in with him, but not all of it.

Until I hear something that truly changes what we know now, I'm standing where I am now...that this was just a case of being in a bad place at a bad time for them both and they both fiercely misread the intent of the other. Nothing more or less.

Have any of you read the transcriptf MWOP posted?
I'm speechless.
Kate:
Since you were wondering why I have so much interest in Mck and her antics: this is why. People work hard for their stuff, and to support their families, and she is a liar and a thief, and thinks she can bamboozle bankruptcy judges.
And yes, I think it's everyone's business when people are scam artists. It hurts us all.
Julia

Shannon said...

Julia I am honestly waiting in pins and needles for the other part of the transcript LOL

She can try to lie all she wants but she might want to find out the consequence for that.....up to 5 years in federal prison, up to $250,000 fine, and the loss of the ability to EVER file for bankruptcy ever again.

"What trailer? We owned a trailer? We sold a trailer?"

"What mycharmingkids.net? What mckmama.com? Those are worthless to me. You want to sell them??? Well you cant sell them they dont belong to you? Oh because we are filing bankruptcy everything belongs to you?"

I think she should be thanking BMM for supplying the courts with so much information about her financial interests that she had forgotten in her disclosures.

Anonymous said...

Shannon:
I agree. Can't wait to see the rest. Nothing ever happens to her though. She's lied, stolen and cheated for years, and always comes out smelling like a rose. Worst case scenario, she won't be granted bankruptcy, and she'll just stiff everyone on the bills.
And yeah, BMM: crazy train. I can't believe JM allowed her to be so involved. How did she not know it was not a good idea?

Shannon: The new transcript is posted. It's even better than the first.

Shannon said...

Just got done reading it :)

I have to say I think she is going to be DAMN lucky if there arent some serious consequences this time for her. They arent going to just fine her if they decide to call what she has done properly...it is perjury. They certainly wont fine her because they already know she wont pay. And now the IRS will very possibly be having these transcripts as well.

If she gets to walk away from this one I will be positively shocked...and quite honestly I will loose a lot of faith in our system. She has been caught lying how many times??? Under oath??? Yeah.

Lisa said...

Well, I admit it. I can't step away from MWOP and JM's FB, afraid I'll miss something. It's really quite nice to not have a life. ;-)

Is everyone else keeping up?

Shannon said...

HAHAHA Lisa I can honestly say that while yes I would rather be working....I am so glad I am not right now :)

Lisa said...

Isn't it good? I'm going to take a nap in case it gets more interesting later, lol! For the record, Anja is doing an excellent job on all this, but really, it's Barb who deserves the most thanks. Without her letter, I'm not sure the trustee would have found out about nearly as much!

Lisa, Shannon:
I am still in shock. I knew she was a liar and scam artist, but the depth of how dirty she is is shocking to me.
I just can't believe she thought she could lie in court, and hide 120 grand of income!!!
Julia

Lisa said...

Julia, it's looking like more than that, now. A lot more. I knew it was bad, but I guess the extent is surprising me more than I expected it to. Not the extent of the money, but the extent to which she'd lie in a federal proceeding.

Lisa said...

I'd like to know where her kids were when she went off so quickly to get her nose pierced. Now, I have *nothing* against piercings and tattoos...love them, actually and have a kid who just got the *bridge of his nose pierced, so I'm no stick-up-the-ass on this stuff, but. But. Piercings are usually done at tattoo parlors and I don't care how damn nice the place is, and some are just exceptionally so, I draw the line at taking kids in there. I think it's...well...trashy. And sorry if that offends anyone, but I do. So, I'd like to know where hers were!

StringOfRandomLetters said...

I would bet my boat that she did it herself.

Except I don't have a boat.

But I won't be surprised if she says she did; a sheeple recommended it and she does like to make others' ideas her own.

Same goes for their money :)

Shannon said...

Well she has been busted she has to get the money gone as fast as she can now.

Wonder if all of this constitutes as bullying?? Personally anyone who says it is has got to have their head buried up their own ass, seriously.

I had my roommate read the transcript today. She only knows of her because of the things I sometimes will say about her because OMG I have to tell someone. It was freaking hilarious!!! I just sat there quietly listening to her Oh My GOD!! And snicker...and repeat what? and really? several times.

She blurted out.."how the hell do you sell an RV you dont even own??", "groceries and gas, groceries and gas", and "it must be nice to have so much money you dont know where it is, how it got there, or what you did for it".

Sadly she is now addicted and I may have to give her the mckmama address and mwop address :(

StringOfRandomLetters said...

Shannon, I just told a friend about the mess too. She laughed and laughed and couldn't believe it, and you know I only gave her a few highlights.
I told her a month in MckMama time is like five years for the rest of us.
She hasn't asked for the website, but she did start wondering if a relative of hers was blogging and went on a google search for her.

Shannon said...

String it is so funny because yes I came to a point where I felt like it might just be nit picking and maybe we all were just haters.....but really you cant argue that anymore looking at where things have come.

Lisa said...

I've been telling my mom and ex-gf about it, too...both are just fascinated. it's funny how we're feeling the need to spread the word!

String, you may be onto something...I have 4 piercings in each ear and rarely wear the top set (uncomfortable when I sleep). I try to keep the holes open but once in awhile, I find they've partially closed on the back. Since the front of the hole is still there, I just sterilize a sewing machine needle and "re-pierce" it myself. It's not a full re-pierce, though, since 3/4 or more of the hole is still open. It would stand to reason the same would be true of her nose and she could easily redo it at home. Boy, I'd be scared of infection to redo a nose at home, though. :-/

StringOfRandomLetters said...

Shannon, yes it's almost hard to believe how many things "speculated" were true. The Steph-Gerb person took me by surprise - I had thought that was really reaching.
Lisa, ouch. Ouch. I have two in each ear (radical move I-won't-say-how-many-decades-ago) and I have one I have tried to get to close. But it won't. If insurance covered cosmetic stuff I would have it sewn up :)

Does anyone think this will bring her down?
Does anyone think the bankruptcy will go through?
Does anyone think she will be prosecuted for her lies?

...does anyone think? LOL :D

Lisa said...

String, my mom was an "older" mom and really straight-laced, but once in a blue moon, she'd get all radical. When I was about 12 (so 37 years ago, ughhhhh) when no one was doing second holes yet, I saw a model with seconds and showed my mom the magazine. For whatever reason, she agreed to let me have it done that night and she took me to the mall where they'd *just started piercing in jewelry stores. They'd never even heard of seconds, so my mom drew the dots where they should go and we did it. The thirds and fourths were done in my late teens, my punk days. I would love my nose and labret done now, but am too old for the labret, I think, and chubby girls look bad with nose piercings, so, yeah...no nose for me at this point in time. Why do you want the one hole to close?

Lisa said...

I think "fleaves" is so cute, I sort of want them.

Does anyone think this will bring her down?

***I think it may, yes.

Does anyone think the bankruptcy will go through?
***I think it could, yes.

Does anyone think she will be prosecuted for her lies?
***Can she have the bankruptcy happen and still be prosecuted? If not, I revise my answer above and say I have faith that trustee will do the right thing and call her on the perjury.

Anonymous said...

I am still shocked at the depths of her bullshit, lies, and hiding of money. Also? I need to start blogging and lying about shit. She makes a hell of a lot more money than I do!!

Yeah good luck they dont let that happen for very long. Not being liable if your legally titled vehicle is involved in a crime? Yeah another good luck honey.

I have decided that Izzy needs to keep the documentation and transcripts of this BK thing. If they really are going to end up divorcing or just being separated even he needs to be able to show a judge in family court that she has a lot more income than she is willing to divulge. I could see her try to screw him over for child support and spousal support because she would claim she has no source of income.

Anonymous said...

I finally read the transcripts, and OMG, seriously all along I've been not on the fence persay, but giving her some benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe mwop just didn't know the whole story or whatever BUT hell, those transcripts speak volumes to me about the kind of person she is. How the hell can you make the much money and not pay bills? a $1.92 bill no less. WTF is wrong with her thinking, and wth is she doing with all that money. If we made half of what she does we'd be living the good life, with all of our bills paid! Sheesh, my husband works hard for not a whole lot (that being subjective I guess) but we pay every bill we owe, on time. 0_0

AND it sounds like she was only half paying attention to the meeting and could barely remember her own finances. We know where every penny of money we get comes from, and where it goes! sheesh

on that note, for the 2nd time in recent memory my BIL & SIL have given us something and then taken it right back. When my 20 month old was born SIL gave me baby girl clothes, and the took them all back,(leaving me to scramble and buy my lo clothes in rapid order)

2 days ago they decided they didn't want their little dog anymore(its 10 weeks old), we had the dog about 24 hours, when they show up at midnight and demand him back :(, it put me in a bad mood, so I've been pouting all day. Funny thing though, the husband sent me back to bed, I felt better after waking up the second time, but still don't understand giving someone something and then taking it back.

It means that the trustee is basically petitioning the court to get into the nitty gritty of what she has lied about and seize assets to pay off the debt. This does not mean that their BK will be approved just basically that he is calling bullshit.

That's what I am getting from it all and those who know this stuff anyway.

Barbara Murtha Malley ‎@ Scottlyn......it's always darkest before the dawn. What your enemy uses for your destruction, God can turn around and use for your good.

Scottlyn Gecomatal You know Barb, I can't say I really disagree with that. I think God can turn this situation around and use Jennifer's loss of her blog in a big way. Afterall, it is her addiction to her blog that has caused her to lose so much.
Julia Cunningham Hill I think we're all confused, Barb. The "enemy" isn't particularly the right word here. I just wish that Jennifer would address this situation directly without us having to find it out from a third party. The evidence is undeniable that wrong has been done and there has been some dishonesty. I'm having some very mixed emotions about some of the things that have been represented by Jennifer in the last few years and I'm terribly disheartened that she hasn't addressed it directly and without malice. And I do hope that this can be turned around for good. Five children are counting on that.

We have all communicated with you on different levels for years. If we can postively support and encourage you through this time, we will - but you have to be forthcoming and stop the block.

Barbara Murtha Malley I have access to pacer too Julia. Not that hard. That being said, I still realize that I don't know the whole story. How could I? I'm a random person on the internet. As are you.
Julia Cunningham Hill Right. How about we let Jennifer give some real and conducive answers based on that information, shall we? I want answers that are based in reality, not a mock up version of apologetics. You're blind defense of her helps NOTHING. We're all going off half-cocked and you're the loudest most obnoxious cannon of all. I have stayed out of this argument long enough and it will probably get me blocked. But I have said my piece to Jennifer and now, you.

Scottlyn Gecomatal Barb, you felt like you knew enough to write a thesis. Actually, you felt like you knew enough to write TWO very lengthy novels in support of this case.

It doesn't take much critical thinking skills in this particular case to see that what has been said is not the same as what is.

Danielle Spencer How does it proove MckMama lied? To me just seems she is bad with record keeping.
Bonnie Zeigler Unfortunately a taped recording of the B/R meeting pretty much speaks for itself. I have been on the fence for a long time about some things. I honestly believe I got my answer. Also unfortunately Barbara did more harm than good by revealing a lot of things I'm sure were meant to be hidden. I know I would be embarrassed if that were me, but at least the truth is out. Yes, there are 2 sides to a story, but we got to HEAR both sides. That's the point I think Barbara is missing.

Bonnie Zeigler See, this is what happens all the time & why I just can't let myself read here much. I DO enjoy watching someone's weight loss success. I DO enjoy seeing photos of beautiful children. But then there will be a very civil dialogue going on and someone( like Barb for example in her comment above mine) will make some silly comment and it gets the ball rolling with another fight.

Bonnie Zeigler I know you didn't Barb. But someone asked a question. You responded. THen a civil dialogue began - an exchange of different opinions which I believe is allowed. But then a "popcorn" remark? What does that even mean?
12 minutes ago · Like · 2

Barbara Murtha Malley It's explained in the post above Bonnie......but to clarify....a certain hater group have stated in postings rather regularly how they pop popcorn (and other snacks) and have alcoholic beverages chilling in their freezers as they get slap happy with each other while reading and discussing with glee another persons dark season. If you note that was in response to someone intimating that Jennifer's blog readers that don't bash her.....are in a cult. Hence, my comment about the popcorn and "don't ever drink the kool-aid" (that part was said in humor).

I still dont get how with things like this she can still have people defending her so adamantly. I mean you dont have to believe anything that is said on MWOP you can look at the court documents, you can read the transcripts, you can listen to the audio....she has lied, she has lied to the courts, she has tried to defraud the courts, and she wants US all of US to pay for her inability to pay any kind of a bill.

D Miller31108 said...

I agree, Shannon! And now with the audio, you can totally hear in her voice how she is trying to hide things! BMM is a total enabler.

Shit is catching up to her, with or without Mwop. That's what happens when you are a "public figure".

Shannon said...

Exactamundo!!! You can try to delay and hide but it comes around no matter who you are. Hell what made her think she can get away with it when truly famous people are being busted for tax evasion and such?

BMM and Lauren with their 'why does it matter it doesnt impact me' crap....ummmm YES it does impact all of us.

This isnt a thing like she is fat, oh her hair, oh doesnt she ever shower.....that shit is all petty what we see happening right now that we can HEAR is real stuff.

I just reported BMM, she is using a picture of a screen shot of someone's name, again! JM should have banned her a long time ago, I cannot see the reason why she is around, she's driving everyone away!

Stacey Arnold Coates She's got a point, but I try to avoid sick ones. Are the kids feeling any better now?
2 hours ago via mobile · 1
Diane Shiffer I guess I'd be concerned not only that my friend's kiddos would catch the bug, but that they in turn would be in a position to spread it to all the unsuspecting folks on the plane ride home:( I have two children with compromised immune systems and strep is a big deal to me. Maybe I'm persnickety?
about an hour ago · 5
MckMama We are done with strep, thankfully! No one is any longer contagious from it. We've moved on, apparently. And it's one thing to be concerned, but another to realize there ain't nothing we can do about it! So we'll wash hands, have fun and live life.
Holly Brown Grigoli What Diane said. My husband had a kidney transplant 6 years ago and your lack of "uptightness" could mean death to my husband. He basically has no immune system(his anti-rejection drugs knock it out) and being exposed to strep could turn into a BIG deal including a hospital stay, death or maybe nothing at all. Obviously he can't completely avoid it but I'd like to think other people wouldn't have their kids running out and about to possibly spread it to every single person they come into contact with so yes...there is something you can do about it.

Loren Parker So they all woke up with fevers this morning but now they are no longer sick? If they are well why aren't they at school?
57 minutes ago · 1
MckMama What would you have us do? Strep has run its course. Our friends came last night. The kids woke with new viruses. Should they fly home now? And risk getting those on the plane today sick? Or just move here and live with us? Or stay, be vigilant with handwashing, do the best we can to have fun and stay healthy and not be uptight? I don't see many options that seem viable to me except the last one. Maybe you guys would do it differently. But this is what we're doing! :)
MckMama I didn't say they were no longer sick. They are still sick. That's why they weren't at school. :)
Loren Parker Sick children need rest. Healthy children don't need exposure to super magic definitely not strep viruses. A plane full of unsuspecting passengers don't need to spend a few hours with recently exposed children. It seems as if you are set on having fun with your guests even if it is not the best thing for every one else around you.

Linda Mason If I so much as have a bad cold, my daughter won't let my grandkids come over on their regular Sunday visit, She is not crazy, or over-reactive-she just doesn't want them exposed when she "knows" they will be. Can't stop it at school, but when you have a choice...

MckMama If the answer is that you don't know, maybe we are doing exactly what you recommend! It doesn't hurt to give someone the benefit of the doubt. Anyway, it seems you are taking issue not with me, but with how my friend is handling her children. I'd be sure to give her the message if I thought that was necessary, but since she's their mom, I think I'll just let her make her own decisions.

MckMama Actually, in the US, we as parents DO "have a choice" about where, when and if to send our children to school to be "exposed" to other germs.

Apparently someone is dangling on that last thread of calm she tries to put out to the world.

D Miller31108 said...

Wow, just when I thought JM couldn't get any dumber! And her friend..um guess birds of a feather....

This reminds me (sort of) of something that happened in my own house. My best friend has a boyfriend with 2 sons. They brought them over for a play date. The little one had watery eyes, but we thought it was his allergies. Fast forward, he had the swine flu! The boys mother did NOT tell them that she had been exposed and sick! My little guy got very sick, and he's never sick. Took 3 weeks for him to get better. I got sick, my husband got sick, my mom, dad and 80 yr old gm got sick. (Symptoms didn't come out until a few days later, so my mom did come over and boom!). I was LIVID! How can this mom not tell her ex that she was that kind of sick? (Well, I know the reason and it was to get them all sick- retaliation, which is like an act of terrorism in my book!) Even a small cold should be reported.

Really angers me that any mother would 1. expose others knowingly 2. put your children in the position to potentially get strep and 3. putting their social status above others health. UGH!

Shannon said...

OMG that shit is crazy. I would freaking kill a bitch!! I really dont get the mindset of it is nothing....well maybe it is something and maybe the other mom doesnt care and doesnt see it as something what about that mom who is in the airport or sitting behind them on the plane who has a child who could be jeopardized? I get that germs are everywhere and that people are often sick and dont know it but dammit when you know stay the hell home!!!!

Let me just say that I am glad all of you who were exposed to that "mother" and her stupidity came out ok.

D Miller31108 said...

Thanks Shannon, I thought the sickness would never go away! The boys "mother" is a total psycho. Took the little one to Vegas at 2 weeks old- out on the strip, broke the father's car windshield with her arm and baby in the other arm. the list goes on and on... She has very little custody, thank goodness.

I love the line JM says here:"Anyway, it seems you are taking issue not with me, but with how my friend is handling her children. I'd be sure to give her the message if I thought that was necessary, but since she's their mom, I think I'll just let her make her own decisions."

Way to pass the bad parenting skills buck, JenJen!

Shannon said...

Thank goodness she only has very little custody....I would be terrified if she were the other parent of my kids. Psycho sounds very apt of a descriptor.

Yeah Jen is very very good at passing the buck and diverting bad from herself.

Lisa said...

D, that's exactly why we stay our asses home when sick and why I get *so pissed off when people don't. It might be "a little case of flu" to you (used generically), but at almost 84, it could kill my mom. Now, at her age, I know she's going to die sooner rather than later but by God, I want her to die of something other than another person's selfish-ass behavior. When you haul out sick or haul your kids out sick and expose people, in my book it's not a bit different than driving drunk.

Lisa said...

I have found myself wondering something that last day or so, though...personally, speaking only for myself, I believe we all have a purpose here on Earth. We each have our own reason for being here, assigned by God, if you will, and we all need to fulfill our purpose in order for things to go as God needs it to. I know not everyone believes this and that's okay...just sort of thinking out loud here...but sometimes, I think a person's purpose might be to be a little bad. Or truly evil. Or just aggravating. Why? Because we learn from those people. Maybe she *is living as God intends her to be living...maybe she's the example He set out for many of us to learn things from. To make us feel better and more satisfied with our own lots in life that might not be fancy or exciting, but are safe and good.

Jill said...

Without some evil there cannot be good. Balance in the universe and all that. I get what you are saying Lisa.

Lisa said...

Exactly, Jill! What if she *is living as God set her out to live, for that reason? Now, I'm not saying people shouldn't try to stop her at *all; we all should and I totally support what Anja and some others are doing on MWOP. I just wonder if maybe she's being honest when she says she's right with God, you know? That maybe she is being the type of Christian God set her out to be, to serve as that balance Jill spoke of.

Lisa, my one hole wasn't done in exactly the right place and it bothers me. I have no earlobes to speak of so it limits even further what I can wear. I used to wear two small earrings with a little chain looping between them. In a conservative business office. Heh. I thought it was pretty :)
